One thing I love about the Buddy Daddies Experience: There’s no source material. No manga, no light novel. Nothing. It’s an original animation. I have overloaded my brain (11 epsiodes and 109 manga chapters). Anyways while I wait for more Kaiju No. 8 content to drop, time for another ✨submas AU✨

I currently only have Emmet designed but essentially the idea is that following the big fight with no. 9, the JAKDF manages to get in connection with the US to get some assistance with rebuilding and supporting their forces as everything get repaired. This is based off this panel from the manga:

Essentially a couple of soldiers and a lot of materials are sent to Japan to help get everything settled. Among the people sent over are the twins, along with their weapons. Until the next Kaiju comes in (and they're cleared to join in the battle), they're mostly getting to know the other captains and having fun talking about the tactic differences between the Defense Forces.

Here's some bonus doodles and Emmet's drill.

The auger is meant to be put into the spine or skull of the Kaiju. The pins stab into the body to keep it in place (Emmet usually also helps hold it down), at which point the auger starts drilling into the muscle and bone. This will not kill it, but it will distract/impair it enough for the rest of his team to take it down. Cores are usually too deep for him to use it for a killing blow, but in instances where the core is exposed long enough for him to set the drill in place, it will tear through and bring the Kaiju down.

This entire scene is so absurd to me. Don't get me wrong, I love it, I am so into it, but honestly this part in particular makes it feel like he's an innocent country girl who I've accidentally impregnated and now he's demanding I marry him to avoid the stigma of a baby out of wedlock. If his sister wasn't dead he'd make her threaten me with a shotgun into properly branding him to save her baby brother's honor.

the baby's antennae glow unpredictably so she resorts to using a little bonnet/shawl thing she finds to cover them. contextually theyre wandering around and avoiding apprehension on this planet that philippa's stranded on. the planet is almost always shrouded in darkness, so the glowy baby is a bit of a liability.

also she names him Moss bc he likes to eat moss :) not really having any rations the two have to kinda ravage around for food. philippa is grateful to have the academy's survival training under her belt, but feeding and taking care of an unidentified alien baby presents its own challenges.

I think part of the reason why the Doom movies have sucked so bad is because they've been from the POV of UAC security guys and not Doomguy (also making it aliens and not demons, which i think is what doom 3 did? Which, incidentally, is partly why doom 3 is also Not Very Good). And like the thing is, from the POV of anyone who isn't Doomguy, it absolutely is a survival horror. Those people are scared for their fucking LIVES. From Doomguy's perspective, this is just another Wednesday. He's barely breaking a sweat. And this is where the experience diverges, because the Viewer expects a movie to be a gore fest rip and tear delight, but these random UAC idiots are just not equipped to handle a demonic/alien invasion. You came to see a demon's chest get cracked open with someone's bare hands, but instead its the demons doing the cracking.

The other reasons the movies sucked so bad is because they weren't animated.
