best quality: hmmm I’ll prbly say that they’re a master negotiator- they strike a great balance between being proud and not underestimating their opponent (most of the time, they’re not exactly immune to hubris) When you finally get through them and all that pomp and circumstance, they can be surprisingly forthright and honest (thought it’s an entirely different story for family members or ppl they have troubled relationships with)

worst quality: Their brutal pragmaticism tbh- it’s a side effect of living for so long and seeing such dramatic and drastic changes, but they’re very good at doing whatever it takes. They’re a little bit more at peace/resigned with this than someone like, say, India.

hi!!! thank u so much for asking me hehe. here is some basic things i can think of rn in a few categories:

mong kok, aka smack dab in the center of the city where a lot of young ppl hang out: the market on tung choi street, ctma centre, a bunch of street foods and bobas on dundas street across from h&m, full cup cafe (the entrance is in a creepy alleyway but so worth it!), more east is a fish market n pet market. also has a lot of street kiosks with cheap charger cords, lighters, water, etc. in case u need. also a lot of the buildings are apple malls that specialise in things like camera gear, men’s suits, fake nails, hypebeast clothes, cosplay .. funnest thing is to go up or down a random escalator that you see a lot of ppl going in and see whats in there. 

sham shui po, a local area but with some cool shit: dragon centre for a japanese style apple mall w a bunch of floors, huge toy market and fabric market, jewelry-making stores if u can find them cause i always forget where they are.. there’s a ton of diy markets basically and a quick google tells u which streets are for which but its harder to navigate than mk for sure. 

tsim sha tsui, aka more international area but kinda ‘suss’: go to the one (a mall)’s 16th floor for some quiet, a very good view, and possibly the smell of weed .. but onlt some of the elevators go there so youll have to be patient, hk art museum, k11 musea (it’s new i havent been but its supposed to be good!), chung king mansions first floor IF YOU DARE (rumor is that they don’t have cameras past the second floor because policemen are too scared to go up there)

central: LAN KWAI FONG IF YOU ARE OF AGE OR LOOK IT some of the best bars for younger ppl are china bar, fire n ice, chocolate, and play. pregame at seven eleven doe. also a lot of art galleries open during the day! just look up what is on that month nd there will be a list with locations. visit tai kwun prison it’s cool. food in central is more pricy as this is a more international area. in general kowloon side = ‘more local’, island side = ‘more white’.

misc: kubrick, elephant grounds, mum’s not home, and coffee academics are the best hk cafes hands down! also flying pan for 24 hr breakfast. also skip ocean park, disneyland, and imo victoria peak lmao. if you want an adventure i recommend taking a ferry 2 cheung chau, its a fishing island with a decent beach and great food. u can also take a taxi from tsing yi station to ma wan fishing village, whcih is abandoned and you can explore the houses although its a bit hard 2 find. if u are gonna go to a temple go to 1000 buddhas but be warned lots of steps. sothebys is always open in admiralty if ure bored and you wanna look at auction art. hk is fairly easy to navigate in my opinion the key is realizing there is a ‘central’ road in each area (mk = argyle street, tst = nathan road, central = queen victoria) and mapping where u are based off of tht. also dont b scared of minibuses! im sorry i said too muhc but like i wanted to b helpful and i had so many things LMAO . hk is a gem in that every time you go to an area you find something new. last thing is that in causeway bay or central midlevels or even tst, a lot of the fishier small buildings (usually have sex store (OH GO TO A SEX STORE THEYRE GREAT FUN) sex hotel (ALSO GREAT FUN IF YOU WANT A NAP) and spa advertisements on the stairwell), do not have a private rooftop. you can go all the way up the top. there will be no door or it will be open . and chill like an #hkkid. HAVE FUN I SAID SO MUCH BUT RLY YOULL LOVE IT

There guys are for a project called Un!Lucky, which me and Bee are throwing a lot of our unused OCs into. At the moment, it’s purely for fun!

Un!Lucky takes place in a magical, Chinatown-esque district full of crowded gift shops. At night, the trinkets, statues, souvenirs, and even the animals come to life to protect the Luck in each of their home stores, which are constantly being threatened by unlucky demons and spirits.

For Harry Potter-inspired coordinates, I always start with the tie. The tie dictates which main piece to wear, and the tie is almost the exact same color as the Inori dress.

I believe that a lolita coordinate should always contain personal touches. This tie features charts and diagrams of horses! All my immediate family were born in the Year of the Horse. I don’t subscribe to feng shui or astrology, but it’s a fun in-joke and my Dad in particular used to collect all sorts of trinkets featuring horses. 

For the vest, I decided to break my combo and give my poor Solo vest some much-needed rest. This one is from Zara, and is much more low-cut than the other piece. I actually bought it for ouji, as it doesn’t quite fit properly over a full skirt. 

Then I had the idea of leaving it unbuttoned to allow more of the tie to show, and fastening it in place with a chain from ToxicKitty. Problem solved!

esque Chimera goalie for the Hockey Team. Very quiet, but very well spoken when he talks. Is assumedly a rejected failed expermint of monster/human artifical fusion. Animals really like him. Jaeger: A tanuki; basically if a greaser was a racoon who tried to flirt and hit on anything with a pulse. Toby: An enchanted skeleton in Jaeger's little gang. A Voice of chaos, he likes to paint his finger tips in lieu of painting finger nails. Richard: A Saytr of a nervous nature belonging to Jaeger's crew. He's the voice of reason among them Pondweed: A mean spirited KelpieTaur. He's frequently frustrated with everything and everyone. A sort of bully. s very sensitive about his appearance and is frequently bullied by his older brothers. Fiancee of Demonica Taur named Malk. Cider: a dwarf apple slime who lives in the Slime Witch's shop the way a cat would live in a shop. Was caught once humping the service bell. Shui Xing: Mercery Slime and her essance was drank by numerous royals per day (which gradually proved fatal, but nobody knew in that time.) She is in constant company with Huang Jin and rarely ever seperate. Sort of their personal gaurd and attendant and most trusted companion. Huang Jin: Gold Slime is EXTREMELY spoilt and used to being treated as royalty. They were orginally created to turn things into gold (but they can only really coat them, so the things are essentially WORTHLESS when it comes down to it, but still pretty) Miss Molavatia: A milk slime who teaches Kindergarden. She's called Miss Moo for short by the kids. 　 -The Slime Spot: A Slime owned Bar run by Slimes made from alcholic beverages and on the ocassion if you pay right, sexual services. Vodka: Martini's little sibling, has a very forward personality. Strawberry Daquiri: Big and peppy, very popular slime Mojitio: Smoll and sorta bitter Pina Colda: Sugary and Sweet, besties with Daquiri Long Island: Big toll and Semi-confident Martini: Mean lean and ready to be a queen MMO: Apparently, the slime owner of the Slime Spot, an Arsenic Slime. Her full name is Marvelous Miss Ooze, but the slimes that work for her call her MMO. 　 -Misc.- Flora Witch: Owns a Flower Nusery right next door to the Slime Witch's Emporium. Is literally very down to earth. Slime Witch has a huge crush on her Mandy: Flora Witch's moody teenager familiar. She's a mandrake and extremely protective of her Witch. She gets into a lot of fights with Love Potion 42. Hernando: A rare plumed naga, he works as a stock room boy for a high fashion boutique run by a Mothman. His fiancee is Jade, whom he thinks the world of. Jade: A MtF Saytr Nurse, she works a lot of night shifts at the hospital. She's Hernando's Fiancee. They watch alot of tv together and snuggle a lot. Elvira: A Vampiress who lives in the overworld. She sleeps and drinks a lot, but has made a good amount of money investing in things. She takes care of her great great great niece, Kate, who is still mortal.

Workspace A

I needed to reduce this space to its purest, most functional state. This is including a reduction to essential structure. (walls, windows, enclosed, doors, foundation, workspace table). As I was looking at this all I realised that the only really necessary space needed for work is one room with one desk that is enclosed. This split model will be made of few parts but will embrace the literal presence of the purely functional in its purest form. Separating the layer not only shows the elements purest states but also incorporates maximalist ideas around illusion and disorientation.

This floor space is to represent the necessary room in which I would need to functionally do work, this separated layer is most essential. I found that from assessing spaces I need what I like to call “open privacy”. Looking back to my readings around feng shui, it makes conscious sense to me to have a wall behind the desk, it provides a sense of privacy for work. In Orleans with no wall behind the desk, it was harder to confidently do work and iterate, maybe in fear of someone looking over the desk. Furthermore, the desk has to be in an optimal position to look at what is coming. The optimal position is working straight on to the door or the opening, it provides a sense of confidence and control.  

Bathroom B

The B part of this first layer is the bathroom, a necessity of course. It is placed further away from the main workspace, this is so the distraction of its use doesn’t infiltrate and overstimulate. There are symbols as electricity and plumbing, its not essential to my project for everything to be fully exact, the idea just needs to come across. X is to represent power and O is to represent plumbing.

Co-work space C

Floor C is where things are more luxury based, like an added workspace and my own kitchen unit. This is more so based off unnecessary luxuries, an overabundance of space. The other option for a workspace, provide room for collaboration and guests.

Misc 

The maximalist angle that's separated, represents a sense of chaos and complexity. This include s elements like an extra room, kitchen, more storage, foliage, work boards, tools, also some more “unnecessary” elements like a skylight etc. Most of all this C and Misc is to juxtapose and complicate model A. Adding in elements are not purely essential but adds some complexity and stimulation to space. It also adds to the overall outcome of the models aesthetic. My design is disorientating and has an illusion about it. The model itself due to its separation is stripped down to its barest minimal form, the floor A to Misc building up the scale.

If I were to do this again I would do it in a way that was more interactive. I would have wanted to split the model and create more defining attributes that embody Balance. I can see that the outcome was simple, but I would have wanted to make it more impactful. I had the idea after open studio to have it so the acrylic would light up with LED around the edges and the scratches, then people could press a button wired to an Arduino and light up certain aspects of the model. I think also including more sensory aspects instead of just visual would have been more effective, perhaps sound, taste and touch also. For example, making the minimal clean and smooth, and maximal More textured when lit up.

Week 17.5: Singapore & Malaysia Itinerary Extras

In my previous post, I put down my itinerary for Singapore and Malaysia. Unfortunately, since my trip was so short, there were soooo many things I had to miss in order to save time. Touristy stuff

Sentosa -- the beach

Museums/Cultural stuff

National Museum of Singapore -- wouldn’t say it’s necessary to go in but the architecture and the buildings around it are nice. All are from the colonial area. The UFO looking building next to it is the supreme court

Peranakan Museum -- if you're interested in the Straits Chinese population that's been here since around the 15th century

National Gallery for Singaporean and SEAsian art

Asian Civilizations Museum

Nature stuff

A hike around MacRitchie Reservoir / Bukit Timah Hill -- Some of those places are still primary rainforest! Be prepared for mosquitoes and macaques that may try to take your food.

If you want something more off the beaten path, take a boat to Pulau Ubin

Sungei Buloh wetland reserve -- great if you like mangroves

Southern Ridges Trail -- a really nice option between 'nature' and 'city'; starts right next to Harbour Front but you get to see lots of trees and birds along the way, as well as some beautiful architecture

Cycling down East Coast Park -- you can do that for almost nothing because there are lots of rental bikes basically everywhere in Singapore now that cost $1/hour and can be unlocked by just downloading the app from the bikeshare company

Food stuff

Lau Pa Sat is famous, but basically any hawker center will have something legit

Laksa katong -- best in Holland Village

126 dim sum in Geylang -- a local favorite

Durian King in Geylang

Liu sha bao or Lai wong bao -- Cantonese steamed custard buns, terms used interchangeably (tech. liu sha bao = runny filling, lai wong bao = hardened filling)

Curry puff at any mrt station

Rojak -- singaporean salad

A’Famosa Fort -- Portuguese fort

Shore Melaka -- tallest man-made tower in Malacca

Cheng Ho Culture Museum -- admiral Cheng Ho’s alleged warehouse complex, resembles Ming architecture w/ bell tower and drum

Nyonya Memoirs -- replicate 1920s Peranakan life

Masjid Selat -- floating mosque on Pulau Melaka, go at sunset

3D Jonker Walk Melaka -- 3D Art Gallery and Upside-Down House
