Simblr's 2024 New Year Resolutions

What's your resolution for your simblr?

Okay, so I had a look at my simming goals for 2021 and 2022 (for some reason I skipped last year).

"maybe 2022 will be the year we hear again about Sam and Ash."

I'm so funny without even meaning to.

"getting sidetracked by friggin’ side stories" is definitely my trademark by now. Add to that: "changing my mind about the whole timeline about a thousand times a day".

I think my only goal is and has always been to publish at least 12 updates per year. I barely made it in 2023, and 2024 does not bode well (the next update? Which next update?). But I will try to commit to that at least, without making any empty promises on the content of said updates. I know, I made a wish for Erik and Laurie to find their way back to each other. So who knows? At the pace I'm at, maybe by the end of the year, they'll have stared longingly at each other once, and that will have to suffice.

That being said, considering my 2022 wish was for Laurie to have a love life... that's achieved. I never said it had to be a happy one. :D

What do you want from the sims franchise?

Nothing at this stage. I still don't like TS4 and have no intent to ever move away from TS3. Project Rene does not interest me in the slightest. Like my friend @anamoon63, I'd love a remastered TS3, less buggy and with some TS4 features (hats! multitasking! building tools!), but that's just a pipe dream.

TS3 graphics don't seem to age. Is it just me thinking that? I mean, TS4 looks plasticky, TS2 looks dated, but TS3 on high settings...? I have yet to meet its match.

Any other new year's resolution?

Oh, well... If I could just find again the faith in life I had prior to 2020, it would be great. I doubt it though, so here's to something more realistic: forgive myself just a tiny bit more.

🍓 100 Berry Baby Challenge 🍓

SIMBLR PROGRESS: 17/100 Babies {Teal GEN} IN-GAME PROGRESS: 74/100 Babies {Green GEN}

🍓Introduction

The 100 Berry Baby Challenge is a colorful twist on the original 100 Baby Challenge. The goal is to have 100 babies, but over 10 generations of family gameplay. This style of challenge is great for any simmer looking to for more family-style game play, whether you use berry sims or not!

🍓 Rules

The originally TS4 100 Baby Challenge rules are by SnarkySims. The rules I am following have been adapted for berry sweet sims by Tainoodles and can be found here.

🍓 History

I started playing this challenge in 2020. Originally developed for Youtube (playlist here), I found that it was hard for me to stay on top of producing and editing high quality videos. I have also posted bits of the challenge on Instagram, though inconsistently. My goal is to reboot the challenge from the beginning here, meaning I already have THREE YEARS of content to add to the queue. I want the challenge to have a singular home, both so I can look back on it and so that others can enjoy it, too.

🍓 Road Map

This is my roadmap for the challenge. Feel free to adopt or adapt it if you plan to do the challenge on your own!

YELLOW- My founder Sim is a yellow sim. Every generation's heir will have to inherit a yellow skin tone in order to be eligible to carry on the family.

PURPLE- This is the first generation spouse's color. This generation will be themed around desserts, meaning all of my sims will have dessert-themed names. The heir must inherit purple eyes and purple hair.

TEAL- The second generation will be the teal generation, and will be themed around crystals and stones. This generation emphasizes eco-living. The heir must inherit Teal eyes and Teal hair.

PINK- The third generation will be the pink generation, and will be themed around fruits and berries. The heir must inherit pink hair and pink eyes.

ORANGE- The fourth generation will be the orange generation, and will be themed around teas and spices. This generation also has a heavy emphasis on Spellcasters. The heir must inherit orange hair and eyes.

WHITE- The fifth generation will be the white generation, and will be themed around winter. This generation will live in Mt. Komorebi and incorporate winter sports. The heir must inherit white hair and white eyes.

RED- The sixth generation will be the red generation, and will be themed around music. This generation will incorporate werewolves. The heir must inherit red hair and red eyes.

PLUM- The seventh generation will be the plum generation, and will have a spooky theme. This generation will incorporate vampires. The heir must inherit plum-colored hair and plum-colored eyes.

GREEN- The eighth generation will be the green generation, and will have a garden theme. This generation will live simply off the land. The heir must inherit green hair and green eyes.

BLUE- The ninth generation will be the blue generation, and will have a ocean theme. This generation will take place in Sulani and incorporate mermaids. The heir must inherit blue eyes and blue hair.

PEACH- The tenth generation will be the peach generation, and will have a fabric and sewing theme. This generation will focus around traveling the world. After this, the challenge is complete!

Simblr New Years Resolution 2024!

Thank you for the tag @changingplumbob! Pardon my slowness and general procrastination.

What's your Resolution for your Simblr?

I generally post what I'm playing or building as I play or build those things. I play or build what I find fun at the time. Hey, I work full time, I'm here to have fun and share some screenshots, you know?

That said, I do have one goal. One great big goal.

Pick up the Unicorn Legacy that I started in 2020 and never touched last year.

-Good news, at one point that save file broke to the point of being unable to load into it. I despaired. Then I started building a new Unicorn Legacy save, but lost interest. Today I tried again to load into the old Unicorn save and it worked! I'm doing save maintenance as we speak. Fingers crossed!

What do you want from the Sims Franchise?

Funeral game play, or playing as a Grim Reaper. I want death to have something attached to it.

CAS improvements. If I can't get them from EA, I'm looking hopefully to Twistedmexi who I know is working on a Better CAS mod.

Bug fixes. Just because many of them are not game breaking doesn't mean they are not irritating. I hope for this one every year.

Any other New Years Resolutions?

Clean out and rearrange my garage, but that's a summer project.

I really want to finish Iorie’s story this year. I hope my health continues to be as good as it is so I can finish it

I want to start posting Siobhan’s story the first full week in January. So far it doesn’t have an ending yet, but I also want to finish it in 2020

I’d really like to learn how to make my own poses and custom tattoos

Comment on people’s content more. I want to interact a lot more with stories and content I love

Keep on loving/writing my dumb lil stories and improve my writing/plotting for them

Simblr Goals 2020

Just to preface, 2019 was a total mess. In terms of both life and my time on Simblr. With a new steady job, great friends, and a better mindset, I’m ready to take on the new year. Lookout 2020, I’m ready.

1. Continue work on The Genesis Project and get a queue in the works. I feel like this is the most obvious goal for 2020, but it truly is my main goal. This story has been a passion of mine for over 7(ish?) years, it truly shaped my adolescence and is an important part of my life, so I want to continue with it!

2. Better my engagement with the community. I am the absolute WORST for this. I get tagged in so many adorable and fun tags, memes, etc. and I’m just the worst at setting aside the time to respond. I’ve also always been super self-conscious when responding to people’s comments, but I always feel awful just constantly being like “ah thank you!” cause I’m super bad at taking compliments, but I LOVE AND APPRECIATE EVERY SINGLE FRICKIN COMMENT. Like the sweet things you guys say under my posts, interacting with my story: it honestly makes my day every single time. And when y’all reblog my stuff and write cute tags!!!!!! THE BEST! But I really wanna let y’all know how much I appreciate you guys more often! You deserve it! You take the time out of your day to write sweet things and I wanna thank each and every one of you without feeling weird about it!

3. Get back into pose making / remake old pose packs. Uh yeah. So... Does anyone remember when I originally joined simblr as a pose maker? Damn it has been a long time since I’ve even been in Blender. But it used to be my favourite thing and I really want to get back into it! I love creating content for other people to enjoy and use in their games and I really wanna do that sort of thing again!

4. Experiment! This is something that I’ve always been self-conscious about. I see all these amazing simblrs with consistent editing styles, PSD’s, sim-styles, etc. But I wanna be okay with experimenting, finding what I like and what I don’t because that’s how you grow and evolve! And I’m excited to see what I can learn and how I’m gonna change this year. Everything is constantly changing and I wanna learn to not stress so much about not fitting into a certain “aesthetic” or “style”.

i’m so unbelievably late to the party with this but i’m going to blame that on being ill and dumb revision. but i’m past all that now and i still wanted to do this because it’s not often that i get tagged in fun things like this, so i like to make the most out of it when i do. and i feel like it’s still early enough in the year for it to be acceptable, so here we go!

first, i got tagged by the ever-wonderful @smallcowplant to share my simblr goals for 2020. thank you, sam! i thought this was such a fun little thing and hopefully if i actually set myself these goals, i’ll be motivated to stick to them and work on productive things instead of just floating around and procrastinating. so, i’m not going to be super ambitious because lord knows i’m not capable of much when it comes to simblr, but i’m going to set myself three goels; i feel like three is attainable. so my goals for this year are:

finish the townie makeovers that i started on a whim

start posting my next story

keep spreading kindness and giving encouragements to my favourite blogs

and then i was lucky enough to be tagged in a different post, this time by the lovely @justkeeponsimming ! i mean, she tagged my main blog, @eleanorjtumbles , because i made the incredibly dumb smart decision to make my simblr a side blog so all my notifications are for that blog, but i wanted to do it nonetheless, so here we are on my sims blog! she tagged me to do the simblr 2020 wish list tag thing and again, i thought it was too fun to pass up on, so i thought that i’d squash it into this post so that i’m not awkwardly late twice. thank you so much for the tag, rae! it’s nice to know that you notice my username in all your notifications :)

rules: this tag is simple and is only of course for simmers! another full year of content is sure to hit the sims 4 and I wonder what everyone wants from the sims team and ea this year? especially since all of the usual packs are out of the way…I did this tag a few years ago and it sort of caught on so I’m happy to try it again! the rules are simple! just say what you’d like to see for the sims 4!

free update: i think it’s a bit of a long shot, but maybe pre-teens? i mean, they did it with toddlers, but i think there was more of a need for that with how bland they made babies. i just think that there’s a really big jump from children to teens, which is a bit awkward for storytellers. they go from looking like nine to looking seventeen so personally i’d love an in-between stage with some middle school drama and awkward phases.

stuff pack: i know this is probably pretty niche but i think that a retro pack could be quite fun. maybe sort of like that arcade pack option from the first community stuff pack idea vote. i just feel like big arcade machines, a little handheld gameboy/ds thing and chopper bikes (especially now that we have bikes from discover university) could be so fun in game. even just little things like kids being able to make friendship bracelets or play with walkie talkies too. plus i feel like it could have some pretty cool build/buy and cas items. but that might just be me lol.

game pack: i really want more activities. mainly for children and teens, but elders too! i know we're getting knitting but what about like cross-stitching or pottery or doing jigsaw puzzles or reading the newspaper and doing the crosswords? and i want more things for kids and teens to do. i want more after school clubs and skills and activities just for them. i want to be able to send them to dance class, or a sports club like football or baseball or something. i want them to be cheerleaders, or join the school choir, or the school newspaper or be a part of the student council. and what about skateboarding? that could be so fun. and more instruments too, like a drum kit or an electric guitar. i just feel like they could do so much more for the kids and teens and parenthood was such a good start but i want moooooore. 

expansion pack:  i'd really like to see a vacation-themed pack. i know there's selvadorada and granite falls, but i want a proper resort with a big hotel and scheduled activities and an all-day all-inclusive buffet. island living gave us a beach destination so i don't really know what the setting would be because i always pictured it as a tropical resort, but i think it could still be a really fun idea. maybe with all the talk of the snow-themed activities in the latest poll they could make it into a type of ski chalet? and the pack could have skiing and snowboarding and other fun winter sports type things and a nice fancy mountain resort to stay at. but idk, i just sort of want a pack to give more options and activities for vacations. like being able to book them in advance and then look forward to them. and being able to buy cute souvenirs or try foods that you can only get at that destination. oooh and maybe get special honeymoon or family vacation features, like unique activities to do or something? i feel like that could be fun, right? 

the sims 5? i don't think we'll be getting it this year and tbh i'm not really interested in getting it. i'm pretty content with the sims 4 and i feel like they could just keep expanding on this for now. i don't think they need to be starting from scratch again and putting out the bare bones of a game, i'd rather just stick with what we've got, thank you very much.

okay, that took way longer than anticipated but idk why because i should have known that i’d ramble my ass off. but that was a lot of fun to do, so thank you again for the tags! if i hadn’t taken so long to do this then i’d probably tag a few people but i feel like that’s just a bit lame now. if you fancy sharing your thoughts on this stuff though then please tag me because i’d love to read what you have to say about your goals or wish lists for the year! anyway, i think that’s all for now. i’ll be back with some more townie makeovers soon! and if you’ve made it this far into the post, i admire your perseverence and i love you.

2020 Simblr Goals

I came back to The Sims in April of last year and repurposed this Tumblr a few months later. I still don’t really know what I’m doing here, but maybe listing out some goals for the year will help?

Pick a story and stick to it. - I have my main legacy family and tend to be in love with every last one of them, so it’s taken me awhile to get where I am. I started posting here when Seb became a young adult, and I am having SO MUCH trouble letting him move on to parenthood. Since then I have started my Supernatural AU and my University AU, and then didn’t finish either of them to return to my legacy.

Finish my University AU. - I don’t think I’m going to follow it term-by-term anymore, but I would like to get through the actual love-triangle/unexpected pregnancy story. 

Read more Sim stories & interact more. I follow a lot of Simblrs, but I also follow a lot of Tumblrs for my other account and interests. I’ve started to pare down on those a bit but it’s still hard to keep up with everyone’s stories on my dash. I’d like to devote a day or two per week to actually go through and read people’s stories and gameplay posts and interact more.

Post the Game Pack giveaway. - I know I said I would do it before the holidays, but the end of this last semester was rough. Also I figured it would be easier for the winners to pick packs after they did/didn’t get some as gifts. (And also, I found out you can’t gift to other countries via Origin so that was a Whole Thing.)

Do something silly. - I feel like I got a good response to my Big Brother post, and might figure out how to do something with that. I’ve played a Big Brother house before, but it’s always been with newbie Sims with no skills or reward traits. I’m not sure how to judge challenges for them. Otherwise, I just want to do something dumb with the premades everyone knows. Put them in a strange situation.

My 2021 Simblr Goals

I got tagged by my sweet friend, @poetic-falls, so lets see. I first took a glance at my 2020 goals and discovered I failed miserably at them. 😂 I still have not completed a legacy, absolutely no consistent schedule and... well, I do like my current tumblr layout but it’s still a bit of a hot mess.  

I’ve actually put a lot of thought into my goals for 2021. The main thing being, just have fun. Post when I want. Post what I want. Don’t stress about schedules and queues. As nice as it is to have that bit of consistency, I find it also stresses me out and makes me want to not do it.

I think, like many, I want to remind myself that this is suppose to be fun. Sharing a common like with others around the world. Making friends. Enjoying the beautiful creativity of others. I also want to catch back up on some stories I have let slip. 

I would like to keep improving. Improving on my editing, my writing, my screenshot taking abilities. But these are always things I strive for.

2020 Simblr Goals

I was tagged by @ice-creamforbreakfast, @racingllama, @cillaben and @ophelia-nygmos. @xldkx  also tagged me because she tagged everyone and I’m one xD Thank you so much <3 You know I don’t usually answer these (because I’m LAZY) but I’m in a festive mood! :D

So my Simblr Goals for this year are...

1.- Reach Gen 10 of the Lacey Legacy (okay or at least Gen 5?)

2.- Accept that it’s OK to go through dry spells where you just don’t feel like playing the game...and never again delete a save as a result of this.

3.- Catching up with some simblrs that have been on my “to read” list for a too long now :( (gonna start on that one today)

4.- Work on a proper resources page that doesn’t suck (like my current one)

5.- Be more interactive and answer more of these tag games because they’re fun (except when they have 100 questions).

2020 Simblr Goals

I was tagged by the lovely @boomchicapopdat 💜

1. Learn how to do something different. Objects or poses are on the list!

2. Reach Gen 4 of a legacy for once in my life. Seriously.

3. Find new, creative ways to work around Tumblr’s adult content ban. The most recent attempts have failed after a few hours 😒

4. Make more friends. I’m the worst at reaching out and talking to people! It’s not that I don’t want to, I’m just horribly awkward and worry that it’ll fall flat! The friends that I do have here are amazing though!

5. Participate more. I really need to comment more, like more, take part in challenges and photo prompts and generally do more! Also, manage to submit sims for bachelor challenges and stuff like that.

6. Collaborate. The last collab I did was in 2018! I would love to make CC with another simmer again.

8. Write more. I want to get out of my comfort zone and write a proper story again. I may even revisit Laundrygnomes.

9. Try more challenges. But not the 100 Baby Challenge, because it scares me.

10. Reconnect with my old simming friends. I’ve been on here for centuries and years, so sometimes friendships fizzle a little. It would be nice to say hi to some old friends.
