Several people here have mentioned some of the facts behind this question.

There were a few things happening.

One thing that happened was that Noxy was able to get in touch with Alex's mom, so Hypixel found out that way. They said they would keep quiet about the information until it was formally announced.

Another things was that there was a bit of communication over Discord among Techno, Phil, Tommy, and Wilbur. Alex told them how he was getting his last affairs in order and hanging out with his family. Tommy was discreet about what he included but having seen the full conversation, Techno made it clear he had only days left.

Finally, I got a call shortly after Alex died from Dream. (Charmingly, the first thing he did was try to explain to me who he was in relation to Alex, which of course I was already aware of.) One of the things I was dreading was the task of wanting to inform Alex's friends of his passing. This was at a time when I had close to zero idea how to use Discord. Dream offered to contact the people who should know, and I jumped at his offer.

So that's how some people came to find out before so long nerds.]

Techno is the prince of the Antarctic Empire/Kingdom who went to war instead of his older twin brother Wilbur.

Wilbur was afraid to go to war, but as Crown Prince he had to go...it was his duty, so they decided to switch places.

Will would pretend to be Techno and Techno would pretend to be Wilbur while they were at war...they hoped no one would notice but their parents did and tried to bring Techno back but to no avail.

So Wilbur ended up on the ground waiting for Techno to return.

But something happened and all the soldiers arrived except for Techno....

The royal family went into mourning as the war continued, Wilbur blamed himself for the "death" of his twin brother and vowed that he would take revenge.

As the war progressed, more men were recruited for the army and blacksmiths for weapons.

But there was one blacksmith in a distant city who refused to cooperate... and he had a son who looked a lot like Techno.

(Techno ended up buried in the snow and Sam or Simon (I haven't decided yet) finds him and brings him home to try to help him, Techno wakes up with no memories and quite a few sequels, but is a happy boy and hates that they are trying to force his father to go to war).

Technoblade wrote a fanfiction??!?!? Do you have the link or the title or know how to find it or if it even still exists?

Technoblade wrote a Hypixel fanfiction called 'Revolution - a Blitz story' and posted it on the Hypixel forums. This was back in 2014 so when he was about 15 years old. When he became more popular as a streamer, he deleted the forum posts at some point (as a writer who cringes when I look at my own writing, yeah relatable).

The story is about a revolution on the Hypixel server and the struggle of the admin and their friends to get it back. It features character interpretations of several big Hypixel names, including Simon Hypixel and also Techno himself - meaning this is technically the first ever appearance of a c!Techno lol

As mentioned it's deleted but the master post with a link to all eight chapters is available on the web archive here. Each chapter is really just a single forum post long so it's a quick read, but enjoyable even if I had no clue what was happening most the time bc I know nothing about hypixel kekw. Love to see that the storyteller/English major vibes were already there <3

Squid made a video about another statistic he'd been grinding since the potato war, he's and Simon Hypixel are gonna donate money from his Hypixel support code to the Sarcoma Foundation, and Squid talked about how much Techno did for him as a creator :]

Something good that happened: simon hypixel donated a ton of money to the sarcoma foundation as a promised reward for tommy getting his latest sub count. So no matter how annoyed we are that the guy keeps bringing dream up, there's a really great sidestory that's happening alongside. Technoblade never dies, really.

Yes this is good news no matter who is raising the money! Cancer research donations are always something to celebrate!

I sometimes(often) think about how techno personally got sent a package from THE Simon Hypixel™ in 2019 and procrastinated opening it so hard that it (to my knowledge) never got opened. Like this man did not have an ounce of curiosity in his entire being. It's so funny, imagine being so dedicated to procrastinating. I wonder what it contained.
