Have you ever wanted your Sims to go to medical school before entering the doctor career? Or maybe your Sim just wants to go to medical school for the hell of it! Well in my pursuit of adding more gameplay mods to my save for better storytelling, I created this medical school student career track! I made this career available for Teens-Adults.

Applying to Medical School

Even though the medical school track, is technically a joinable career, I still wanted to create the opportunity for your Sims to apply to medical school! Applying will take about 3-4 hours and will cost them §500.

Medical Institutions:

Your Sim will be randomly placed at one of the following medical institutions:

-The Landgraab School of Medicine -University of Britchester School of Medicine -Foxbury Institute of Medicine and Health Sciences -Plumbob Center of Medicine -Newcrest Center for Medicinal Sciences -Komorebi Institute of Medicinal Studies -University of Willow Creek, Goth School of Medicine

Again, their placement will be randomized. If you want your Sim to work at a specific medical institute, you can quit and rejoin the career until you get your desired one.

Pay: Your Sims will be unpaid until they become an intern (Level 5). For the first four levels, it is up to you to decide how (or if) your Sims will make simoleons. I recommend the Unlimited Jobs mod by TURBODRIVER, which allows you to have multiple jobs at a time. You can check it out here if you like.

Career Track

This career track comes with 9 levels:

Preclinical Med Student I: (§0)

Starting your journey into the medical field, you're diving into basic sciences and learning the foundational concepts of medicine. It's a challenging start, but with hard work, you'll build the knowledge needed for your future career.

Preclinical Med Student II: (§0)

With the first year behind you, you're now diving deeper into complex medical subjects. Balancing intense coursework and initial patient interactions, you're beginning to see how your studies apply to real-world healthcare.

Preclinical Med Student III: (§0)

Transitioning from the classroom to clinical rotations, you're getting hands-on experience in various specialties. Your understanding of medicine is growing rapidly as you apply your knowledge to real patients under supervision.

Preclinical Med Student IV: (§0)

In the final phase of your medical school journey, you're solidifying your skills and preparing for the next step. As you complete your rotations and apply for residency programs, you're focused on becoming a competent and compassionate doctor.

Intern: (§10)

Welcome to the first year of residency! As an intern, you're now a doctor, responsible for patient care under the guidance of senior physicians. The hours are long, but each day brings invaluable learning experiences and growth. Junior Resident: (§15)

With a year of internship behind you, you're now taking on more responsibilities. Your confidence is building as you make more independent decisions and start to specialize in a particular field of medicine.

Senior Resident:(§20)

Nearing the end of your residency, you're a seasoned doctor with a wealth of clinical experience. You're mentoring interns and junior residents while honing your expertise and preparing for the final stages of your training. Chief Resident: (§25)

As the chief resident, you're a leader among your peers, coordinating the residency program and ensuring the smooth operation of the team. Your skills and leadership abilities are put to the test as you balance administrative duties with patient care.

Fellow: (§35)

Specializing further, you're now a fellow, focusing on a particular area of medicine. This stage is all about mastering your chosen field, conducting research, and becoming a true expert before transitioning to an attending physician role.

Hours:

The hours for this career track are LONG! Again, I wanted to add as much realism as I could. So, expect your Sim to be gone for practically the entire day! They most likely will come back home with a tense/dazed buff.

Skills and Objectives The major skills your Sim will be focusing on in this career are Logic, Writing, Handiness, and Research & Debate. Your Sims objectives are essentially to progress these skills to the required levels.

Computer Interactions and Rabbitholes: There is a separate in-game pie menu for Medical Students on computers. This comes with nine (9) new interactions and rabbithole activities for your Sims!

The time for each activity varies; but expect your Sim to spend HOURS doing most of them lol (for example, the Medical Conference may take 3-4 hours, and going to Clinical Rounds may take 5-6 hours. For rabbithole activities, your Sim will go to the computer first, before leaving. Also be ready to spend some simoleons on activities such as paying tuition, going to conferences, and textbooks (SEE BELOW)

Textbooks:

What is medical school without textbooks...and expensive ones too?! I added four (4) new textbooks. They total to about§500.  They're also located under the Emotional category since they give your Sims a Focused buff, which can help them build their skills.

Lot Traits:

For those who want to take their gameplay up a notch, I created a Medical School Lot Trait. But because we don't have medical school lots in game, if you plan on building a medical school for your Sims, it will most likely have to be on a generic lot.

Buffs: Several buffs come in game with the various interactions! Here is a quick snapshot of a few:

Trait & Conversation Topics: Lastly, I also created a CAS trait for your Sims who are/ or want to become medical students. This trait comes with basic wants such as wanting to go to the library or researching something on Simpedia. The trait itself should be in the Lifestyle category.

Also, Sims with this trait will have the following conversation topics available to them:

Important:

Please make SURE that you have the XML Injector installed; and that you have script mods enabled. Also try not to separate package and script files or place script files more than 2 folders deep!

Known Problems/ Conflicts:

As of now, there are no reported conflicts or problems with this mod. Feel free to join the discord to let me know of any issues that you detect.

As requested, I added the postgraduate positions such as interns, as well as junior, senior and chief residents, and fellows. I also added pay for these levels.

What I think the TF2 mercs would do if they played the Sims

Scout: Spends the entire time making pretty women and himself (but jacked and handsome because that's obviously him), probably goes around the town woohooing all the women and nearly crashing his game when he gets notifications about the babies being born all at once, uses cheats all the time before getting bored an hour in and makes another save

Soldier: Recreates American presidents and the founding fathers (accurate or not is up to you), probably would download a mod to make Noah's boat, get the neighbours there and make them fight to the death

Pyro: Traps all of the neighbours in a room and sets a fire to watch them burn over and over again

Demo: Asks Scout for help downloading an alcohol mod, gets his characters absolutely pissed drunk, probably drunk himself and his sims either die or have gibberish for names, would play it normally and might recreate notable figures if sober

Heavy: Doesn't do much other than making his family in the game, then makes the sim version of himself work hard to support the sim family, makes his beloved doctor in the game too and marries him in the game

Engie: Downloads a crap ton of mods or makes them himself, likely wouldn't even play the game just so he could go through the coding and see what makes the game works. If he plays the Sims 4, he'll make a mod that removes the massive amount of bugs, or if he plays the Sims 3, uses a mod to make the game run smoothly

Medic: Spends all the time torturing any and all sims and killing them, makes an extremely long maze and makes ageing super fast so he can see the sims trying to run out for work/school and watch them die of old age or starvation over and over, makes Heavy in the game and himself, marrying him while there's a few sims drowning nearby in a pool with a gate around it

Sniper: Plays the game the way it's intended for the most part, probably got a guns mod for when a sim is pissing him off and makes one of his sims shoot the offender

Spy: Makes luxurious houses, probably gives random sims who had the audacity to show up with clown make-up, neon green singlets, hot pink skirts, blue leggings and red high heels a makeover, breaks up families by woohooing the mothers, steals stuff from other sims, his sim shares the house with a woman who looks very much like Scout's ma

Okay, so I started work on this download back when it was 100, but life got busy and when I was able to resume working on it, there were 150. Life got busy again before I was finished, and now there are 250 of you amazing people... but I’m actually getting this thing out there, so yay for that.

There are 61 meshes in this download, and hundreds of recolors. A quick rundown of what’s included:

Some of @aroundthesims 4t2 tattoo parlor set. The chair is cloned from pikkon’s tattoo chair, so it’s a double for the makeover chair. The single rolling drawer is an end table that is slaved to the double sideboard, so you need the double for the single to show up. 

High School Years’ Starry Eyed prom/dance set, which contains the balloon arch (sculpture), backdrop (sculpture), dining table, dining chair, and banquet table, cloned from a very similar table by @veranka-downloads

And finally, I converted at least one thing from every expansion pack and game pack from Sims 4 currently released that hadn’t been converted before, plus a few deco things from Sandy @ ATS that I really wanted in my game.

When it comes to the downloads, there are two options for you to choose from. One offers each of the meshes in a separate folder with its recolors and the textures for each so you can pick and choose what you want to keep. The second zip is all the recolors merged with their respective meshes, so there are 61 total files. You only need to download one.

is allergic to watermelon but still eats it because he loves the taste, even though it gives steve a fucking heart attack every time he breaks out into hives. he solves this issue by only eating watermelon when he's with hellfire. dustin unsolves this issue by calling steve every other campaign with "your little boyfriend has consumed the death fruit again," to which steve promptly freaks out and breaks thirteen traffic laws to make sure eddie is still alive

thinks his own health issues are funny. never takes anything seriously when it comes to his own issues.

has tourette's and has conditioned steve into responding whenever he tics 'hello there' by huffing and puffing and refusing to look steve in the eye until he says hi back because eddie thinks this is top notch comedy

laughed the first time he slapped himself in the face with a tic

loves playing the sims 4

cried while watching big daddy because he was on his period and couldn't handle the scene where julian was taken away from sonny. steve is the only person who knows about this because eddie threatened to turn his balls inside out if he told a soul and steve is lowkey kind of scared

STEVE has a very bad addiction to stickers. they are everywhere. he has a packing box FULL of random stickers

loves playing the sims 4 and introduces eddie to the world of free custom content

pretends to not understand anything eddie is saying when he talks about music, but secretly listens to iron maiden and wasp when he misses eddie

is allergic to a very specific prescription pain medication, but he can't remember the name of it so he refuses to use any sort of pain medication no matter how much pain he's in and wouldn't even touch a bottle of ibuprofen with a ten-foot pole even though he knows he's not allergic to ibuprofen

has a very bad fear of allergic reactions

wants to write a romance novel even though he can't focus on reading a book for longer than eight minutes and thirty-seven seconds (he was timed)

is a middle school painting teacher and absolutely loves it when students paint on him and his clothes, even though he now has only one shirt that doesn't have paint on it. this made him the 'coolest' teacher in the school and his classroom is always full at lunch

wants to adopt a teenager because he knows that nobody is ever too old to be convinced they're loved, and he wants to give someone the love he never got as a teenager

is always wearing a homemade bracelet a random kid on the street gave him

can only wear one brand of socks and refuses any other brand

MEDICAL SCHOOL STUDENT ACTIVE CAREER UPDATE: COMING SOON

Twitter saw it first. But get ready to follow your Sims to medical school! I’m working on giving the medical school mod an active update. Your Sims will be able to attend lectures, socialize with other medical students, do research and have some hands on experience (though we don’t have a lot of medical items lol). It’s different from the doctor career in that it’s more so theory and research based. 

Here’s a sneak peek of me testing the autonomous lecture feature for my medical professor NPCs. They’ve been kinda behaving so far thankfully . Also don’t judge my build, it’s still a work in progress lol.

The only fandom I've written for as an adult has been the Magnus Archives (and I actually have a lot of thoughts on why tma was sort of a perfect storm for getting me back into creating and consuming fanfic, but I'll spare you for now). 5. Do you respond to comments?

Sometimes. I really want to get more consistent about it, but my executive dysfunction makes it hard. My big problem now is that it feels weird to go back and respond to comments I got months ago, but it also feels rude to respond to more recent comments without ever responding to those older ones, so I'm feeling kind of stuck. One day, though, my ADHD will be properly medicated and I will get back to responding to every comment I get.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Angst is one of those things that I love to read but don't always think to write, so pretty much all of my fics have happy endings atm. The only ones that can really be said to have angsty endings are the pre-Unknowing and safehouse fics where the knowledge of what will happen next in canon makes any ending automatically bittersweet. With that in mind, let's go with Hold My Hand When My Courage Fails, because I DO think a pre-Unknowing kiss makes season 4 angstier.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Like I said, I write almost entirely happy endings, so it's hard to narrow this one down. I'm gonna go with Say You Love Me (Learn to Lie) because I threw in the completely unnecessary (but still necessary to me) detail that Sasha survives the Prentiss incident at the end of that one.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No! I've been very lucky on that front.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I haven't, though I might someday. As an ace person (somewhere in the sex-nuetral/sex-averse realm) I don't feel super confident in my ability to write good smut. It's really intimidating, but I'd love to try some day.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Not really? The only thing I've written that could be crossover is my fic where Jonathan Sims competes on Jeopardy!, but I'm not really sure that counts.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know of.

No.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

My AO3 history should make it clear I'm pretty fond of Jonmartin, but I'm also a big Griddlehark (tlt) fan.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I've started a tma fic that's essentially a Marple AU (with Gertrude as the Miss Marple surrogate) that plays with the idea of sleuth-as-Beholding-avatar, but it's very tricky to blend all the plot threads I want to include together into one cohesive mystery, so I don't know if it will ever get finished.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'll be honest, I don't think I'm a very good judge of my own writing, especially my strengths. It's not that I think I'm a bad writer necessarily, but I really struggle to pinpoint any one thing that I do well - especially because for every aspect of my writing I like, I can point to five writers in the same fandom who do that much better. Right now I'm just glad I'm getting stuff written at all.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I worry that my characterizations tend to be pretty thin. I also struggle in juggling more than a few characters at a time, and sometimes I will omit characters who logically should be in a fic just because I can't think of anything for them to do.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I don't have anything against it. I could see people running into problems if they write dialogue in a language they themselves don't speak (relying on Google translate, for instance) but in general I don't see anything wrong with it.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

The Uglies series by Scott Westerfield, back when I was in middle school.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

Don't make me choose!

I might have to go with Say You Love Me (Learn to Lie) because that was the most fun I've ever had writing and publishing a fic - the response to that one was really great, and since that was one of the only times I actually managed a consistent release schedule, it felt really nice having that to look forward to every Tuesday.

But SYLM(LTL) was my answer for like half of these questions, so I'll also throw out Cut My Hair and Changed My Face (I'm Learning How to Forget That Place). I did a pretty terrible job of tagging that one and it didn't get a lot of hits, but it's one of my favorites. I love s4 Jmart angst, I love Jon & Daisy's s4 friendship, and I frankly can't believe it took me so long to write a fic combining the two.

buckle up, buttercups, i'm about to tell you about the most insane two weeks of my life

okay. so to preface this, i have definitely had an edible or two. so it's going to have kinda weird prose.

when i was a junior in high school, i went with my chinese class on a 2 week long exchange program to china. it was a really amazing country, rich in history and culture, and i am so glad i went.

but there was a catch.

my chaperon - we'll just call her laoshi - was the absolute worst chaperone ever. like, literally, worst in the history of mankind. before we went to china, she refused to get a new cell phone sim that would work in the country. so we had absolutely no means of contacting her if we didn't know her whereabouts. she also failed to convey our allergy information and other dietary restrictions in china, so i was fed oily carrot soup. (she also deadass gave us alcohol several times)

but everything was worse for my raw-vegetable vegan roommate. we'll call her o. o was a wonderful person.

when we were in china, we were on a tour trip. so we got all of our amenities. part of that was one (1) bottle of water to last the entire day. laoshi failed to get us more water, and it was scarce in our locations. tap water isn't potable, so we were at the whims of street vendors with water bottles and they were not everywhere. even if they were, laoshi wouldnt necessarily let us stop. it was about 115 degrees farenheit.

she also did not tell us where she would be staying. we asked her to take us to the pool one night, she literally just told us to get in the van with a strange dude and went to her room qhere we had no way of contacting her. we declined the ride and the trip to the pool because we had to be responsible for ourselves.

two of the kids in my group started dating, d and k. they were staying in each other's rooms every night and having sex. the teacher, at the end of the trip ddid not know they were dating and they were super into pda.

my o the raw vegetable vegan has no choice but to eat meat for the duration of the trip. this inevitably makes her extremely sick. one night, she is throwing up from the other side of the hotel bed. over and over. she is so ill and so miserable. i am scared for her safety but WOOT WOOT can't call a teacher. so i, age 16, am now tasked with this situation. so i go down to the desk and ask the hotel manager where she is. they don't know. it is a nightmare. i ask for them to send a cleaner.

i go back up to the room. o thinks some tea might settle her stomach a bit and i agree, so i make a pot of tea. i am so exhausted. it is like 4 am. i have been cleaning up after o and helping her all night. so i am stupid and i pour the hot, BOILING water on my hand. i shit you not. i sustained third degree burns. but still have no means of contacting an adult.

the cleaning lady comes. she begins to vomit sympathetically.

i am in the worst possible position. o is crying and apologizing and i am crying over my hand. so i go down to the front desk to get burn heal cream. we also had a conversation about getting a laxative for my roommate. i don't know how to say laxative. i say 'you take medicine, you get diarhea' because laoshi had taught us those words.

the entire rest of the trip is me applying that (very good) salve and reapplying gauze in the bathroom so laoshi doesnt notice the serious medical issue emerging on my hand.

o is meanwhile still vilely ill. i'm sad because i love her. we are super close at this point because we've undergone this horrific experience together in 2 weeks.

the rest of our trip, she doesn't notice. we get on the plane. i ask d and k if they want me to change seats so they can be together. laoshi asks why

Papaya Island My BACC hood that I've been playing for the last few months. I haven't been following a strict rule set but I have my own subtle rules. I've been building up a lot, with the last build being a school. I have six families so far, a small townie pool. Town/Unowned com lots: School Town Hall Church&Cemetery Library Bank&Post Office Board Walk Beach/Tiki Bar Hotel/Spa/Wedding Venue Owned Businesses: Gym General Store Electronic Store Clothing Store Organic/Grown Food Store Car Lot/Garage Surf Shop/Beach wear store Veggie Fields Cop Shop/Detention Center (it's more of a city build but it's owned by the sheriff) On the list to build: Public Park/Festival Grounds Day Care Restaurant Salon Dance&Yoga Studio Bakery Laundry Mat Museum/Art Gallery Medical Building&Pharmacy(When a sim gets sick for the first time which unlocks the medical career) I need to unlock more sims and townies. I unlock a sim slot when a sim buys a new business (I currently have two slots but I'm saving them to make a family of four). I unlock a group of townies(4-5) for every 5 com lots(owned or unowned).

I don't have much of an "economy" built as I haven't yet implemented taxes, I plan to do that once I get my "mayor" to purchase the town hall once I get to their round, to which I'm planning to save to make either a downtown or a vacation hood that I want to build from scratch, it might cost around 100k or so, not sure yet. I've grown quite attached to this hood, it's the farthest I've gotten with a Build A City Challenge which I've always wanted to have. I plan to start using some form of spreadsheet which I want to make based on how others do theirs. I might post things here and there about it, weather it's my sims or it's the builds I do. One thing about me is I love to organize things and sort them into categories. I've been using Pinterest for various things over the years and have recently been working on an account for CC I've downloaded and other Sims stuff. I thought others might find it helpful as well.

I have most things organized with storytelling in mind. Here's what you'll find:

CAS boards organized by age groups to make Sim aging appear more realistic. Ages include are Infant/Toddler, Preschoolers, Preteens, Older Teens/Early 20s, Late 20s/30s, Midlife, and Elder.

A board for Poses sorted by category (Actions, Conversational, Emotions, specific Situations, Deco sims, etc.)

Storytelling "sets." If you've ever needed to set a scene in a particular place, like a hospital or airport, you know how difficult it can be to find everything you need: lots, poses, CAS items, build items...it's very overwhelming! I had the idea to combine all of the CC I'll need for specific scenes onto their own boards so it'll be readily available if/when I need it. So far I have boards for Medical, Travel, Office, Schools, and more.
