Round 6: Farseer 1 / 4

None of the households are going to be played in order this round and I'm just accepting that at this point.

Anyway. River has moved out on their own. I probably should've left them with Orla and Maddan, but that house is small and also they probably wouldn't have gotten any focus this round with the drama that those two have going on. And wouldn't you know it, I forgot to roll a ROS for them until after I finished playing. 🙃

Drustan, I'm gonna lock you in one of the damn caves at this rate.

River has planted a new garden at their cottage. Working outside with the plants is good for their nerves; very soothing.

River is very sociable for a sim with two outgoing points. Throw a party this, want to go on an outing that and so on.

Just a friendly backrub between gal pals! Do we think Sun has noticed Jia is flirting with her yet, or has she inherited Norweni's obliviousness? I'm starting to think it's the latter.

Speaking of Norweni, she's also at the market today and getting shoved around by Shep. Shep, girl, chill a little bit, okay?

Norweni: Shep. I'm going to do you a favor once and assume you've been drinking, and tell you to go home and sleep it off. Got it?

Brigid swooped in immediately afterward to compliment Norweni, lol. This is not at all an obvious attempt to suck up to her.

Oh, yeah, we're supposed to be following River, not Seax family drama.

Anyway, River has slowly been making friends with people in the village, like their new neighbors, Helenet and Elmet, or Gede here, who they met at the summer festival. Gede is a very cheerful and smiley man!

mini dedication essay to black simmers and ts4 creators below! pls read if you have the chance! <3

this edit is a small homage to afrofuturism and the various unique black hairstyles (and especially the black creators of most of these hairs) that i have downloaded and admired over the years! some of these are old and some of these are new.

to me, afrofuturism means constantly honoring/reclaiming/challenging the past while constantly creating/dreaming of a better society/world/future. a society/world/future that embraces and empowers all of our differences, ingenuity, aspirations, and unique lived/cultural experiences. a society/world/future that does not limit us through the various systems of marginalization and oppression (racism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, sexism, xenophobia, ableism, classism, colorism, etc.) that often affects how we, as black people, live today.

blackness is so diverse and intricate yet it's always been a struggle to find my culture within a game that's known for being so limiting, bland, and extremely eurocentric when it comes to hairstyles, clothing, food traditions/events, etc. black simmers have always had to figure out how to make this game more inclusive and make it resemble either more like how our ancestors lived, how our current lives are, or how we would want our lives (and even our children's lives) to look like in the future no matter how dystopian the real world look and feel now. fortunately, these hairs and their uniqueness bring a huge sense of culture and style to this game. they have always inspired me and made me feel extremely proud to a part of the lovely african diaspora (and the ever-growing black simmer community).

in a way, being a black simmer and cc creator usually means that we are often digitally creating our own worlds as afrofuturists to varying degrees (whether we know it or not) every time we open our game, make our sims, make houses, and/or make black cultural cc. also, now i know that cc making is not easy to do and is extremely time-consuming so this post is also just me giving all black cc creators especially those who create for free their well-deserved flowers! here are some other black cc creators who created cc that have greatly impacted my game since i first started playing sims 4: @/leeleesims1 @/simtric @/hi-land @/yuyulie @/sims4bradshaw @/ebonixsims @/xmiramira @/sheabuttyr @/qwertysims @/oplerims @/sleepingsims @/shespeakssimlish and so many more im forgetting probably (im too shy rn to tag ppl but i greatly appreciate y’all fr i hope y’all telepathically get this message somehow 😭).

last but not least, i am hoping that this inspires somebody to keep creating or start creating regardless of what they think their skill level is! somebody will absolutely fall in love with your work and/or your art/work will 100% change someone's game forever <333

been working on this build for awhile now, but people have really seemed to love it on my ig story, so im trying to finish it so i can put it up for dl ♡

Mac was satisfied with their mother's account of her own childhood and where she had come from; but it had only opened up more doors that Mac wanted to explore. They had heard from their mother and her siblings - but they wanted to know more. And who better to tell them than their grandmothers.

Mac tried to visit their grandma's every few months. The years had taken a lot from them in old age, and the triplets had sequestered them back home from Tartosa to keep them close by and safe as old age began to take its toll on every facet of their lives. Heather and Jenny lived in a retirement home, albeit one that had every luxury of a resort. Whenever Mac visited, they were always busy with some activity or social engagement.

This time though, Heather was excited to see her grandchild to tell them stories of her own life. She broke out her old family photo album, the one she had held onto her whole life, with the precious few photographs she had to show where she herself had come from.

'My mother and father were married, and they had me and my brother. You'd see these photos and think we were the perfect family, but I learnt from a young age that things aren't always what they might seem from the outside - my Mom was unhappy, and my Dad was a workaholic. After my parents divorced, Dad married again and moved away, your classic mid life crisis. But even so, as a young girl I missed him so dearly.'

'I guess that's the benefit of never having known my Dad,' mused Mac. 'I can't miss someone I never met.'

Heather smiled at her grandchild. 'Such an insightful one, aren't you? You can't miss what you never had... except your own memories. I did always want to see that big house we grew up in one last time before my time is up.'

Mac had a great idea. 'Why don't we go there, granny? Just for a look?'

And so Mac took their elderly grandmother on a road trip to San Sequoia, to the address of the home she had grown up in as a child in the 80s. Except when they arrived, the house didn't look the same.

'Well, I guess it's to be expected,' sighed Heather. 'All old things get remade into something new.'

Mac didn't want their grandmother to be sad; but as they went to turn around, a family came out of the house - a Mom, a Dad and so many children.

'Sorry to have bothered,' said Mac. 'It's just, my granny here grew up in this house as a girl, and she wanted to see it one more time.'

The family were excited to hear Heather's story, and invited them into the house. It was a beautiful, sunlit home with all the marks of being well lived in by a young family. It was nothing at all like it had been in Heather's childhood - and yet, she smiled as she looked around the space, remembering that her childhood had existed right here too in a different time.

'Are you okay, granny?' asked Mac. They didn't want her to be feeling sad, like her childhood had been destroyed.

Heather smiled and hugged her grandchild. 'Not at all my dear. Another family lives here and is making their memories now. Think of the beaitiful layers and layers of happy childhoods that exist here. I am glad that this home is still loved.'

Round 5: Wyll 1 / 8

Orla: See, isn't this nice, Chewy? Such a nice little house! And now you can have lots of goaty friends too!

Orla and the other newcomers didn't bring too much, preferring a quick move over the time it would take to bring multiple wagons from Wyll to Veridia. Veridians have helped out their new neighbors by offering up old and spare furniture so that their new homes are furnished, albeit lightly, and of course the covens didn't send them off with no money.

You might recognize this as being the lot across from Shep's that matches her house. She is finally free of those horrible wheat-eating sheep. 😔 Hopefully goats are less likely to get free and eat her seedlings.

River is stuck living with Orla and Maddan for the time being and has staked out a mostly private space for themself in the corner.

Chewy sleeps on a blanket at the foot of Orla's bed. Maddan has not been able to discourage her from this, unfortunately. Nothing like waking up to a goat staring you dead in the face while it chews the end of your braid!

Speaking of Maddan, he gets to go fetch water from the nearby well in the morning, where Norweni happens to be finishing up a game of river stones.

Norweni: Maddan. How is everyone settling in?

Maddan: Well. Your people are very kind.

Norweni: Some of them, yes.

Maddan: I wanted to ask, though, since it looks like we'll be here for spirits know how long... would you be willing to let me train with your town guard? I'm not made for doing nothing, and I'm afraid I don't know too much about farming. Or sheep, for that matter.

Norweni: I don't see why not, as long as you're willing to participate in guard shifts and everything. Never a bad thing to get some new blood in—and Kinet and some of the others could do with meeting a new fighting style once in a while!

Maddan: Now that I can provide. I think Orla was cooking something for lunch if you want to come over and discuss it more?

River: I suppose it isn't too bad here. I was afraid they'd want to send us to a real backwater.

Orla: Aw, you're not as much of a recluse as you pretend to be, huh?

River: No, I just like not having to walk fifteen leagues to the closest market and having to make my own... I don't know, soap and bread.

Orla: Yum. Well, I like it! This is like an adventure story! It's exciting!

River: I wouldn't go that far.

There's not a lot for River to do here, though, besides watch the rain and Orla running off to throw up her breakfast every morning. Back home they would help maintain the family hall, and sometimes wealthier people (or even not-so-wealthy people with some savings) would commission fortune-tellings from the family.

Here, Orla does a lot of the cleaning around their tiny house, and they have no idea how to go about cultivating a new market for prophecies. That probably would've been easier in a bigger place like Evervale.

Orla: Why so glum, glum-face? Cheer up!

River: Ehehehe! Orla, stoooop, that's not fair—I can't tickle you back or you'll puke on me.

things that happened today on the sims to the Doctor Who characters I made:

-River tried to fuck Donna and almost succeeded

-Nine got an addiction to the violin

-Ten caught fire because of the barbecue but Nine got the extinguisher in time (thank you Nine)

-Eleven got embarrassed because Ten entered the bathroom while he was taking a wee

-Amy threw a temper tantrum because Donna was playing the piano (badly)

-Nine and Donna fucked and she's pregnant

-then they got married

-Ten laughs a lot in his sleep and it's kind of adorable

-Twelve got rejected by Nine and Donna's wedding caterer and cried himself to sleep

-Sylvia fell asleep at the wedding on a bench (twice)

-Nine keeps doing this weird gremlin thing I think something might be wrong with him

-Donna kept throwing the trash to the ground savagely (there was an empty bin right fucking there)

-Twelve worked at a café but he kept coming home with his lil outfit and his lil hat and it made me laugh too much so I made him a secret agent instead (also because he was miserable and would cry everyday on cue after coming home from his 2 hours shift)

-Ten makes autistic little stimming noises as he walks around the house

-Eleven tried to learn the guitar but he was terrible at it because he "didn't have flexible joints"
