so when are we going to acknowledge anakin's line of "is that what this is about" is actually regarding ahsoka's fears of becoming like her master (vader) & her fears of failing others as she felt (he failed her, she failed him, it was never the same) instead of him pretending all the things he committed never happened. they did happen & he knows they did. can we also acknowledge that he said "one is never too old to learn, snips" perhaps in reference to what he learned from his own son, the one and only luke skywalker, who proved that love can persevere over darkness, ("you're better than that because i'm better than that") and that heartbreak does not equate giving up when others can still live on, and that star wars is sometimes about hope & lineages and knowing you can be better than those who came before if you choose to be.

not sure if this was intentional or not but nemik saying in his manifesto “Remember this: Try.” is an interesting sentiment given that “do or do not, there is no try” is like one of the more famous lines from the original trilogy

this has been done i know this has been done im sure this has been done but currently obsessed with the brainworm of captain of the king's guard obi-wan kenobi and prince anakin in some fantasy medieval star wars setting of some sort where it's just game of thrones-y enough that when the royal family is overthrown, it's violent and bloody and obi-wan knows that anakin will absolutely be killed in the revolution so he takes him and he runs back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant that he left years and years ago, when he was just a boy himself.
and anakin is absolutely furious for multiple reasons--mostly he thinks they should have stayed and fought! that they fled like cowards from his homeland is a shame that he can hardly bear. so he's angry at obi-wan for basically kidnapping him and forcing him away from his kingdom when she needed him, and he's angry at the jedi order for accepting them into their ranks but only if they agree to pretend to be Jedi while they're at the Temple. and he's angry at the jedi council because obi-wan had to beg to be given aid and his proud captain of the guards should never have to beg for anything, and yet here he is, begging for help for anakin's sake!
anakin is probably like. nine, obi-wan is twenty-five, and they stay at the temple basically incognito for ten years with anakin 'training to be a padawan' (because he's so strong in the Force that obi-wan points out that it may be a good idea to give him all the lessons in anger management and force control even though he isn't really a padawan in case any of the material sinks in) and obi-wan as a worker in the temple hangar bay.
then the clone wars break out and obi-wan instinctively wants to join the fight with the jedi because he owes them a great debt. not only did they raise him until he was fifteen, but they took him in---took anakin in when they needed them
but anakin has never had any loyalty to the jedi. he is loyal to his planet, which he will return to one day. and he is loyal to his family and to obi-wan, for saving him. but obi-wan should be loyal to him and him alone. only to the crown. only to anakin.
what im getting at is like. a scene where nineteen year old anakin demands obi-wan swear fealty to him as the king of his planet on the eve of the clone wars because he needs obi-wan to know that he's his. his captain. his guard. kneeling and ring kissing is involved.
obi-wan swearing fealty and then probably fucking anakin and then probably leaving during the night to fight in the clone wars without waking anakin is also involved.

more disaster lineage cal au incorrect quotes because i really want to write a fic about this but writer's block be damned so i'm doing this instead
~~~
Anakin: I lost Cal. Obi-Wan: How did you LOSE Cal?! Anakin: To be fair, he is very small.
~~~
Obi-Wan, watching Cal do something stupid: Anakin, you're officially only the second highest risk here. Anakin: Hell yeah! I'm gonna— Obi-Wan: Don't finish that sentence, you'll move back up.
~~~
Obi-Wan: Cal, please get that hideous thing out of the living room, would you? Cal, to Anakin: Obi-Wan wants you to get out of the house.
~~~
Anakin, to Cal: Okay, I get it. You've had a really hard time lately, you're stressed out, seven people died- Cal: Twelve, actually. Anakin: Not the point. Look, they're dead now and really whose fault is that? Cal: Yours. Anakin: That's right, no one's. Also don't tell Obi-Wan about this.
~~~
Anakin: What’s wrong? You look 10 seconds away from ripping someone’s throat out. Obi-Wan: Cal and Ahsoka were trying to invoke one of the minor gods again last night. I didn't get an ounce of sleep, thanks to their bloody chanting.
~~~
Cal: Could you guys at least try to see this from my perspective? Ahsoka: *crouches down* Obi-Wan: *kneels down* Anakin: *sits on the floor* Cal: Cal: I hate all of you.
~~~
Anakin, driving and singing to the Little Einsteins theme song: We’re going on a trip- Cal: In our favorite piece of shit! Ahsoka: Doing 95! Obi-Wan: We’re going to kriffing die!
More headcanons about Anakin and Ahsoka being menaces to the general public
I feel like both Anakin and Ahsoka react to being sick in similar ways and by reacting in similar ways I mean they do everything in their power to ignore the fact that they’re sick
Which is funny because they both get annoyed when the other refuses to accept that they’re sick Ahsoka will take any hint that Anakin gives her that his condition is failing and runs with it
Man could breathe different way and she’s like “Master it sounds like you’re sick maybe you should lay down and let me take over” to which Anakin refuses
Ahsoka’s just as bad because Anakin tries his best to take care of her without letting her know he’s onto her
But of course she’s not stupid and can tell when he’s being more of a helicopter sibling than normal and calls him on it
God forbid they get sick at the same time because they just spend the whole time trying to take care of each other
And god forbid they get sick at the same time when Obi-Wan is around cause then they just turn into whiny children
Like no seriously it’s like a switch goes off in their brains that renders them into beings incapable of fixing their blankets
Obi-Wan obliges because what dad would stop taking care of their kid depending on the age
Honestly my brain kinda leaned into Ahsoka’s chaotic younger sister energy with this one
But I love the idea that she will just sneak attack Anakin and Obi-Wan
Most of her “sneak attacks” go something like this: Anakin walking down the hall minding his business when Ahsoka drops down from the ceiling
But before she can land on him he sidesteps and grabs her by the collar before she can hit the floor which results in Ahsoka moaning and groaning that she “Almost got him that time” and Anakin grumbles back that the only thing that “almost got her” was a black eye
He does have to admit that her random seak attacks have made her better at climbing
Sometimes she’ll walk up behind Obi-Wan and try to cover his eyes but most of the time all she gets is his shoulders
Most of the time it doesn’t even slow the man down he just keeps walking while asking her about her day and how classes are going
But as she gets older she’s able to mask her presence better and manages to sneak up on the men once or twice
Obi wan is always willing to admit defeat and congratulates her on her well earned victory
Anakin blames it on his age and that’s the only time that Ahsoka will ever hear him admit to being “old” (he’s 30)
It’s an ongoing joke that you shouldn’t separate Ahsoka and Anakin some say you risk a limb if you try others say you’re risking your life what most don’t mention is how you’re risking your sanity
Because they become the most annoying motherfuckers when they’re apart
Ahsoka acts like they’ve been separated for 10 years and will tell stories like she’s reminiscing about the good old times but most of the time the people she tells the stories to were present for the events so it goes something like this:
“Hey Rex do you remember when me and Anakin threw someone into that lake those were the days” “Yes I do remember that commander because I was that person and it was a week ago”
In his defense that’s the fifth story she told him in the past hour and he was there for all of them
Anakin’s just as bad but for a different reason because all he does is overthink
Like don’t get me wrong he keeps up the “cool guy” personality before she leaves but the second she’s gone he’ll sprinkle little questions into normal conversations like “Do you think she packed warm enough?” “Do they have enough emergency rations?”  “Did anyone make sure that ship was up to code before they left?”
He made sure she packed for every single weather possible, he packed enough rations for two weeks even tho they were supposed to be gone for two days, and he checked the ship before they left
Sometimes Anakin or Ahsoka will just walk into each other's room and hang out they don't do much they kinda just sit down and talk
Sometimes they have a silent but mutual understanding to leave the room and go bother Obi-Wan in his
I love the idea that Obi-Wan and Anakin are victims of Ahsoka’s undying fascination with human hair she loves when their hair is long and encourages them to grow it out longer so she has more to work with
She all but falls to her knees when she sees how long Padme’s hair is and she’s the creator of some of Padme’s funkier hairstyles (both Anakin and Padme make a small note to force Ahsoka to do their future kid's hair)
She’s also weirded out by facial hair so every single time Obi-Wan shaves or Anakin tries to grow a beard they’re treated like a different person entirely
It took them a while to figure out why but once they did they lost their minds laughing (and also made silent vows not to do it again cause it freaked her out)
People often say it’s like Ahsoka and Anakin can read each other's minds without using the force
Some people find it hard to believe but it’s pretty easy to tell when people are having conversations through their bond and when two people are having a conversation just with looks
It’s not an uncommon sight for them to shoot each other looks after someone says something a little bold and for both of them to be laughing by the end of it
It’s just as common for them to get into little arguments and finish it in complete and total silence before one of them finally gives in with a huff
It’s kinda freaky but they don’t seem to notice and everyone around them is too used to it to care
Nameless Part Twelve - Apostate Page 2/10 I'm sorry, the only way to visually show Barriss successfully making an ideological transmission towards the future Grand Inquisitor was to make them gaze at each other like two sad wet seals. Text is taken from the TCW episode, ‘The Wrong Jedi’. The comic is also available here on AO3.
Obi Wan is capable of being kind of a bitch but also quite gentle and polite and for reasons I was thinking about when and why he gets like that-
for example in TPM he's often snarky with Qui Gon though he obviously loves him, and one thing that sticks out is that while he is clearly frustrated with Quin Gon's handling of Anakin and expresses that directly to him, he's always nice to Anakin. I'd venture that part of his irritation does stem from him feeling this isn't really fair to Anakin either- making him promises about training him even though he doesn't really meet the criteria and might not be accepted, for reasons he basically agrees with
In Aotc he gets caustic with Anakin, but it's generally again when he's done something that really irritated him- undermining him publicly, ignoring his instructions, going off on his own, putting himself and Padme in danger- but he's not mean for the sake of being mean. He's visibly embarrassed by Anakin's bad flirting but he doesn't make fun of him, and even reassures him that Padme was happy to see them. To me he's very gentle in that scene when he approaches Anakin about his dreams, and in RotS when he says goodbye before utapau- they were disagreeing a minute ago, and again obi wan was embarrassed by his behaviour with the council, but he takes the time to say goodbye properly and tell him he cares and he's proud of him. Unless this is literally the first time they've been separated during the war (and in TCW it is decidedly not) that can't be a parting that hasn't happened before.
I don't recall him ever being short with Yoda. I know some would interpret that as him being too deferential to authority (with Qui Gon being his own category I suppose) but... well, I think they're at least a little closer than that, but also we didn't really see them disagree- except I suppose when Obi Wan insisted on training Anakin, but even then Obi Wan was on his side before Qui Gon's last words, so that feels different to me. But it doesn't feel beyond me that he could feel provoked to rudeness with the council, or other authority figures for that matter.
And then there is Satine, who he is professional with for approximately five minutes before descending into rudeness
In conclusion: he is generally polite, and he's not exactly mean, but he's irritable and only professional up to a point, and then he can get bitchy.
(bonus: we never saw him bitchy with his troops, and I'd say it would take a certain degree of familiarity before that occurred, and that it's nigh impossible that they never ever got on his nerves, so it probably did happen at some point over three years.)
None of the clone troopers have ever spoken Mando'a in canon, however Rex has called people "kid", including several clones, Ahsoka, and Ezra. We also hear Cody refer to his subordinates as "kid" as well, and once he refers to another clone as "son" (Chopper in the Hidden Enemy)
Additionally, in the 'The Deserter', Rex explains that he is fighting so "our children and their children [won't] be forced to live under an evil I can't well imagine." When Cut points out that Rex can't have kids, as it's against the rules, Rex responds that "it doesn't matter if it's my children or other people's children." He is not denying that he doesn't have kids, but instead implying that he sees no different between his own offspring and others'.
Therefore, there is technically more textual evidence to support the headcanon that Rex would be referred to as "Dad" instead of "ori'vod" should a member of the 501st require a familiar nickname for him. In this essay I will examine the significance of this moniker in relation to Captain Rex, and expand upon how this may change our understanding of the GAR's interpersonal relationships
