okay so i'm not trying to make this a ~thing~ or a hot take or whatever, but can we talk about how all the hyped up queer shows still predominantly feature mlm couples? i'm not saying there aren't wlw shows/movies or the mlm-focused shows don't also feature wlw characters/couples, just... they either get nowhere near the same amount of hype, have some other main plot, end with at least one of them dying or experiencing something traumatic, get cancelled after one season in the middle of their arc, or they're not the main couple. And that's not to discount the representation you can get from secondary characters of course but just... ugh I want a heartstopper or rwrb or young royals or skam or love, simon or i don't even know... with girls. And I know I'm not the first person to bring this up and I know it's not that simple, but seeing all the hype for heartstopper and rwrb this week makes my heart ache a little bit so i needed to say this somewhere.

Sometimes when Isak is working, seemingly lost in thought as he sands down one of the new pilasters or cuts two wood pieces to the same length, there’s a sudden change to his movements, a sharp intake of breath, and then he turns around and looks for me.
The first time it happens, he is kneeling at the foot of the stairs. He’s been pulling on his unwashed hair all day. There’s wood dust smeared on his forehead where he must have rubbed the skin with the back of his hand, and there’s more of it clinging to the little gilt hairs on his arms. For reasons unknown, he’s only wearing one sock.
He’s so lovely.
The moment his gaze finds me, he swallows and the tightness around his mouth softens. He gives me a small smile. It stays on his face as he turns back to his work.

forty love
Isak Valtersen is the world’s best male tennis player. Even Bech Næsheim is not. But he’s ranked #32 in the world, which is impressive enough, and he’s Norway’s favorite. Isak understands why: Even has a friendly face, an iconic headband, and the ability to make every journalist laugh in press, even after a brutal loss. He’s a hometown hero who pours his heart out in every match, and embraces the nickname fans have given him: Bechy with the Good Hair. He doesn’t advance very far in tournaments, if he qualifies, but whenever he does they are always matches to watch. Isak is the world’s best tennis player, but the world is watching Even.
After a chance training arrangement at the US Open, Isak is watching Even too. He doesn’t want to get distracted on his way to a world-record win, but it seems like his heart isn’t giving him a choice.
including beautiful art by @evakuality in the last chapter!

dear sana, this speech is for you. and you'll get it today, because what you've invited us to today will knock over american presidents tomorrow. we live in a chaotic world where it's difficult to understand the rules. why are some people poor and others rich? why do some people have to flee from their homes while others are safe? why do some people get spit on in the streets? and why is it that, even when you try to do something good, it's still met with hate? it's not strange that people give up, that we stop believing in good. but thank you for not giving up, sana. because even though it sometimes feels like it, no one's ever alone. each and every one of us is an important part of the chaos, and what you do today will have an effect on tomorrow. it can be difficult to see how that will happen, and usually, you can't see how it all fits together. but the effects of your actions are always there, somewhere in the chaos. in a hundred years, maybe we'll have machines that can calculate the effect of every action we take, but until then, we can trust this: fear spreads, but fortunately, love does too.
