6, 9, and 13 maybe? :D
6 is answered hereee
9. whats something you always come back to when drawing?
Ohhh that's a tough one
I don't think I've drawn enough to say that yet. I need many more examples to understand if there really is something in them. But one thing is for sure, although it's a little obvious, there's always a part of me in the art, and I really value it. I mean, it's something that's so deeply mine, something that no one else could have created in the same way, and something that I have so much control over, unlike most of the rest of life. To create something outside of self only to return to it. It's beautiful in its meaningless. Ahh I don't know, I'm so poetic about it.
It's silly, but I think I have the right to treat it so. I've always craved for the joy of creating something, one way or another, and I've been sooo miserable denying myself that. I thought I was incapable of doing anything really.
Anyway, it's the subjective that gives the objective meaning, so it's better to create one while we have the chance, right?
/..... that's to speak about serious stuff I do. I'm really NOT that pretentious about silly stuff. AND about everything that I do really. It's just that the question is provocative to my sentimental soul. I love silles too tho! Nothing better than to read "I giggled" sometimes lol. I like it when people like what I'm liking
13. talk about a wip you like!
OK OK, SO I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER WIPS GOING ON OTHER THAT I ALREADY SHOWED BUT I see this as a great opportunity to tell about OTHER SORTS OF WIPS......the ones that live only in my head.
There was a sketch sometime ago with prisoner, grey and cage as the danaids (that you nicely noted btw!!) and damnnnn do I still think about it! It was very quick and easy, but now I have THOUGHTS. To make it with like super dark colours and slight cold lighting on the faces AND MAYBE to paint the water like blood bc cycle of violence and stuff?!?!?!!?!!?!! AND ALSO the poses there were quite telling: prisoner looked at the bowl, like trying to figure out the pattern, grey looked at the viewer in blame, no longer paying attention to the riddle, and the cage was in a tiresome bow to the jar, like giving up. AND LIKE. IN THE DARK. THE CHILLING GAZE OF GREY. THE LIGHT PROFILE OF PRISONER. AND IN THE CENTER HEADLESS CAGE?? I DON'T KNOW. I'M THINKING. But I've come with terms that this idea is too exclusively mine (??) I don't think the point would be clear. So it's kinda. Put in the back drawer of my head. But it's still there.
And I also really wanted to draw ghost-drowned-grey holding the body-drowned-grey. And like the pose would be so powerful. Can't put into words. But still. Really tragic. Also in the back drawer

Yeah that's something I'm sure most (if not all) people struggle with. I got back into drawing as a hobby like 3 months ago and let me tell you. It's amazing. I feel so fucking happy because of it and it gives me something to look forward to and work on instead of doomscroling and then blaming myself for wasting so much time.
For me one of the big blocks is, well, drawing in a sketchbook. There's this belief that they're supposed to be beautiful and full of amazing art, but that's such bullshit. Those are called art books. Sketchbooks are for sketches. For the ideas, the quick thumbnails, doodles, mistakes and lots of trials and errors. You might want to start drawing in a random notebook (or loose paper) instead of your sketchbook. For me it really takes the pressure off and I dont focus on making everything perfect anymore. Just choose some notebook, clean paper, dotted, ruled or grid. Whatever you like. You can decorate it a bit (but not too much/ in a way that will make you intimidated to use it!!) And just let loose. Starting is a hard part to get through, but one you finally do it, it will get easier.
And if you mess up, dont rip away the page or scribble on it. Just go to the next one and start over (I personally add little notes like 'not really what I was looking for :/' or 'kinda shit but whatever', so that whoever sees those can read the notes and think "oh okay, guess it wasn't his best work")(even tho literally no one sees those sketches💀 but whatever, it makes me feel better and more comfortable)
There are also some very important things you have to remember. And it goes for a lot of other things too! Not only drawing (or writing).
1. You're most likely criticizing yourself too harshly (belive me. That 'shaky' line is fine. And you don't have to erase and redraw the whole thing. It might be a good idea to just cover it up with some paint (but make sure it's still at least partly see through)(if you're drawing traditionally) or just change the colour of the sketch and lover the opacity of the layer (if you're doing it digitally) and start drawing over it! (on a different layer ofc)
2. Don't think about what others think about your work. Don't think 'but what if they won't like it?' Let them. The most important thing is that you had fun making it and that you're happy with what you did.
And definitely don't compare yourself too much to other people's works. We live in a time where it's so effortless to see what others and doing that we get overwhelmed with content, works and ideas of other people. It's easy to loose yourself in all of that.
3. You might want to try out other media/materials if you're stuck in one place. (Change is difficult! But can be nice) It can be very refreshing to draw your idea using different materials (even if you might not feel super confident in them)
4. I beg you. Dont push yourself too much. Take breaks. (Seriously) Once you begin something you get used to the way it looks and it's so easy to notice all the little mistakes (that might not even actually be there) (I once spend like an hour trying to draw a shape only to look at it the next day and think "wtf was I on last night? It's literally fine and how I wanted it to look." XD)
And the last one, that gives me a lot of motivation :)
5. There's always someone that wants to see your work.
No matter how shit you might think it is. No matter how much better it looked inside your head. There is someone that will look at what you made and it will cause them so much joy. Its honestly fantastic. The times I made smth that I wasn't super happy with but decited to still post it/ show it to someone and they loved it is bizarre to me. There will be someone that will see your work and think "i wish i could draw/write/whatever like that." All while you were looking at someone else's work and thinking the same thing.
STAY MOTIVATED AND KEEP GOING!! I'm sure you'll get out of the pain that's an art block and will make so many things you'll like
(You'll make it out. You always do in the end.)
idk how to get back into drawing i think about it everyday and when i manage to pull my sketchbook out i just stare at the blank pages

Hi all! So a couple months ago I moved across country and while it’s been great, I had to leave behind my (somewhat) nicer computer with my parents. I also had to bring my absolutely terrible 10 year old laptop with me to have SOMETHING to work on. The problem is, I can’t use my Cintiq on it (since it’s so old) and my great roommates is letting me use her old tablet, but I have a hard time doing anything but sketches on it. The computer is also dying, fast.
SO I am doing cheap sketch commissions to help save up for a new computer! My job is going to give me a little wiggle room to save up between bills and student loans, but not much and i want to get this new computer sooner rather than later so I can start working on more art again because I can’t really do much at the moment. So I wanted to do sketch commissions to help with the saving!
Waist up (or down whichever you want) - $10
Full-body - $15
Extra Characters - $2 per
Mono-Chromatic Color - $2
I will draw pretty much anything except porn under 18, overly violent, or noncon. If you are interested, please email me at [email protected] with the subjectline COMMISSION and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!
Any commissions would be deeply appreciated and if you can’t afford or aren’t interested, please signal boost this as that would ALSO be deeply appreciated. Thank you so much and have a great day!!
#commissions#urgent commissions#emergency commissions#mindofjenart#i wish I could do more art but it's so hard to draw on this tablet IDK how i use to do it man#i miss drawingo n my cintiq )):#sketches are super easy tho and they are very quick for me!!#so it won't take long to get it at all!!

You can find 1st part and request here
PJSK girls with reader who loves art part.2
⊱ you asked Emu to pass you something from your desk and that's when she noticed some of your drawings laying around or she accidentally looked into the wrong spot and found them
⊱ she'll definitely ask if she can hang at very least one of your drawings next to her bed, desk or even on the fridge
"These look so Wonderhoy! Can I keep one of them? Pretty please! I promise to take good care of them!"
⊱ if you only like drawing and not drawing yourself then she'll ask some people for the best art exhibitions available and trust me when I say she finds only the best ones
"Someone recommended me this exhibition! They said that it's really big, and my brothers even told me they were there once!"
⊱ Nene put one of her games at your desk and then while picking it up, she saw a peek of your drawing and couldn't help her curiosity and asked you about it, and if you let her, she'd also like to have a little look at your art
⊱ once she discovered that you can draw, she compliments you a lot and later on she decides to ask you if you can draw her comfort character from one game she really liked, she wanted to ask you about it at the beginning but didn't wanted to make a fuss over it so it took her some time to say it out loud
"Hey, it's alright if you don't want to but... would you mind drawing this character? It can even be a quick sketch if you want!"
⊱ if you don't like drawing yourself but so enjoy art, she may not look eagerly for art exhibitions but she does show you art she found on internet to know your opinion since you can catch many interesting details
"What about this one? It doesn't have that detail you don't like, does it?"
⊱ Kohane showed you a lot of her photos even tho she was a little shy about it at first so why wouldn't you show her your drawings as well? So she got to know your passion thanks to you telling her
⊱ she'll compliment every single one of your drawings and if you ever would have no inspiration, she'd love to show you some pretty places or show you some of her photos as references for your art
"How about this place that I took picture of? We can go there tomorrow and you can paint the scenery there!"
⊱ if you don't like drawing but do enjoy art, she'll try her best to find some art exhibitions but it may take her a while since she wants to make sure that they're going to be enjoyable for you
"I found an art exhibition that will have place in this city and it seems pretty good! Would you like to have a look there with me?"
⊱ An saw some of your sketches that you drew when you were waiting for her to end all the cafe work she had to do
⊱ of course she complimented your art if she saw it and if you will draw some easy art, she'll also try to recreate it ar your coffee
"One special coffee inspired by my pretty artist! How do you like it? Do you think I recreated it right?"
⊱ if you don't like drawing yourself but do enjoy art then be ready she'll ask every single person she knows and customers if they know any good art exhibition, and then will share them with you
"So they told me that there will be an art exhibition around next weekend and it sounds super good!"
⊱ you often have lazy dates with Kanade when the two of you work on your own things, and on one of those dates she catched you looking at some drawings, and was interested so she decided to ask you a little more about it
⊱ she will always give you her honest opinion and express how your drawings make her feel, even if she doesn't like the style or theme you're going for, she's still very supportive
"When I look at it I feel like I'm being comforted by angel... it's a food thing of course!"
⊱ if you like art and not drawing yourself, she'll find some art on internet and show you them since she won't go on any art exhibitions with you
"I found some arts that have similar style to those drawings you liked. So how do you feel about them?"
⊱ Mafuyu discovered your passion for art also thanks to you since you're the one who talks the most in your relationship
⊱ she will often compliment your art but she also won't hold back what she thinks about it. She also will say what she feel about it if she does feel anything
"I don't see anything bad about it but... I feel something... fuzzy in my chest... I don't think it's a bad thing tho."
⊱ if you don't like drawing but do enjoy art, she'll find some art exhibitions through her friends, classmates and maybe even teachers, and best thing is her mom will definitely let her go there with you
"I found some art exhibition that even my art teacher recommended me so it can be good. Would you like to go there with me this weekend?"
⊱ Ena showed you her drawings so naturally she discovered your passion for art pretty quick, be it that you told her or she found some drawings laying on your desk
⊱ first thing that came to her mind are drawing dates, be it that you two draw the same scenery or each other, and if you agree she couldn't be happier
"Really?! You'd like my idea about art date? Ah, I can't wait for that! Let's go to that one park I recently have been in with my group!"
⊱ if you don't like to draw but do like art, she'll always ask for your opinion about her art before she sends it to anyone else or post it anywhere
"What do you think about this drawing? Should I add or change anything? It just doesn't feel right..."

dislikes: rules, anyone super serious reminds me of my m o m lmao, people who interrupt others, sports, heat, people touching my sides without warning me first, people not paying attention to me when i talk, people who always hold a pity party for themselves as their whole personality, koalas, and people who think they have it worse than you.
hobbies: singing, poetry, painting, sketching, writing, cooking, crocheting, bike riding while listening to music, swimming, video games like (skyrim, minecraft, botw, subnautica)
personality: INFP-A. a lot of people say i seem intimidating at first glance, i'm very aggressive and tend to be very loud by nature yet not very energetic if that makes sense. i talk too loud basically lmao. im socially awkward and try to make people too comfy too quick and tend to overshare. my mood changes rapidly due to being a borderline. I have a very happy personality tho and laugh at so much its ridiculous yet im diagnosed with multiple mental disorders. im really lazy and hate even standing for more than 5 mins mainly cuz my whole body always hurts tho lmao. im quite introverted and unless i HAVE to i hate going out and meeting new people. i isolate myself a lot if i get even slightly mad or sad. i have a lot of self-destructive habits and just dont work on them lmao. i talk a lot about things i like. i have bad trust and attachment issues yet i dont completely trust anyone due to past issues. a lot of people ik say im someone very trustworthy since i can keep secrets and know how to stay loyal and help people when they need to vent. im very blunt to the point it has ruined relationships. i try to watch my speaking due to having grown up in an environment where if i said anything wrong id be screamed at or beat so i tend not to say a lot of things im thinking despite being blunt. i can barely speak up for myself if someone is mad at me for fear of them hating me or leaving me, to the point if i stand up for myself i start crying and shaking and have to leave the room. i have really bad issues with self-harm. i have a very short attention span and get distracted super easy t the point i can barely read properly lmao. im really hypersexual at times and then sex repulsed at other times. i have an obsessive personality and if i find anything i like i surround myself with it as much as i can and if not, im daydreaming abt it. i have a thing for correcting people abt anything ik a lot about. i have a thing for loving anyone, whether real or fake, that's usually unliked whether its for being weird, scary, or ugly in any form. so basically i love the unloveable cuz i understand them. i cuss a l o t lmao. im very clumsy and jumpy at all times lmao i get hurt a lot, randoms bruises everywhere. i find comfort in my depression so i dont plan on getting better but im not suicidal. im the type of person to be like "huh?" even tho i heard you loud and clear.
insecurities: my body. i'm overweight for my height and have really defined curves so i get oversexualized a lot so i hate my body, plus my scars do n o t help. ive been told my whole life by my grandma and my cousins that im only good for my body so yeah. the way i get obsessed with things and people so easily. the fact im very poor and currently am homeless along with my parents lmao. the way i look for bad in anyone i like becuz i dont want to let myself love ever again. how i dont want to get better at all, i just wanna stew in my shit lmaoooo. the way i eat really unhealthily. how when i would cry as a child my family would say i was being dramatic so now when i need to cry i gaslight myself into thinking im being cringe. the way i try to seem a bit cooler than i am in front of people online. my impulsive lying (im working on it with my therapist tho so i barely do anymore compared to before). My taste in people. my fashion sense cuz of my mom. the way im agnostic now since i grew up religious. my darker interests. my boyish personality. how i cant keep anything around me clean for more than two days.
I hope you have a great night/day ^^
Oh, it's sad how similar we are. I hope that in the future you will get rid of people who make you uncomfortable, or your parents will change their parenting methods. Although the scars on the body and on the nervous system will remain.
I match up for you...
Okay, it was difficult. I chose between two characters whose 7 is dominant in the enneagram, because of this they avoid their problems _(._.)_well...
I wanted to choose Venti, but he has huge problems with responsibility or absence. He is used to drowning out moral pain with optimism, conversations, and a penchant for bad habits. And a pretty sloppy attitude.

That's why I chose Child. Of course, I don’t know what will happen in the future and whether you want to have a family, so I will talk about his family in Snezhnaya. For the comfort of his family, he will do everything. Just look at his spoiled younger brother<^!^> Of course, the "lie" question bothers me. In his case, it is rather "a lie for the good" and "a wolf in sheep's clothing." The first is for the family so that they do not worry, and the other for his work. I talked earlier about avoiding reality or problems. Tartaglia has a tendency to avoid real issues that only concern his life and injuries. In conversation, he avoids the question by making a joke out of it, so as not to begin to study himself deeply. Since you don't really like touch, I see that his love language is deeds, gifts, money.

AMA Transcript: Unrequited
Next up, @infantbluee, @kallie-flower, @nori-wings and @thiefofblood (Souly on Discord) came to answer questions and spread the love for their Resbang, Unrequited! Here’s some of what went down:
Q: How did you guys come up with this idea? I remember you threw a ton of ideas around and settled on this one. Can you take us through the process? >:)
kallieflower: Oh god. We went through SO many different ideas. We wrote like what? 40k for our first idea before we scrapped that?
b l u e: Then like 30k for the next one that we also scrapped.
kallieflower: WE KEPT TRYING TO WRITE SHORT THINGS BUT IT DIDN’T WORK. Soma just does not work as shortfic.
b l u e: Even our final bang ended up being a 40k two-shot lmao.
Q: So what was it about this final idea that made u guys decide, YES, this is it???
kallieflower: The first idea was a Madoka Magica AU that exploded into a mess because magical girl worlds take a loooooottttt of work. The second fic also exploded into something big.
b l u e: We were going to stick with it though. We were. We had it all ready for check-in and everything. But then like two days before, kallie went, "okay so I love our fic idea and all but what about this." Me, on three hours of sleep: "I effing hate you." Then we stumbled through our first 3k and sent it to the mods like the gremlins we are.
kallieflower: We didn’t expect it to get so big either but c’est la vie. Chloe almost killed me like 48293783 times during the process but I think we managed alright.
b l u e: You're lucky I love you so much.
Q: Did you guys start writing straight from the beginning of the fic or did you write a specific scene first?
kallieflower: Actually we didn’t start from the beginning haha! Or well, our idea didn’t start from a plot. We just wanted to write Maka cursed. We wanted to write her with no inhibitions in love, like she might’ve been had she not been so hurt by her parents’ separation. And since there are witches in the SE universe, we had fun with that instead of making it an AU.
Q: Do you write linearly at all or did you jump around a lot?
b l u e: Surprisingly yes. Aside from my dream sequences.
kallieflower: Your dream sequences were our pit stops. We just had to actually do the writing to get there.
b l u e: Hahaha our writing process was.... Unique.
kallieflower: That’s one way to put it lmao.
nori-wings: It was a mess, but we love it.
b l u e: WE are a mess so it's just us in fic form.
kallieflower: God yeah. For one thing, this fic was like 90% chloe with me just making her do crazy things I wanted to happen.
nori-wings: And 5% of what the artists wanted to happen.
b l u e: YEAH hahaha that was kallie too tbh. She was like, "me as a witch would not understand anything about my magic at all and would curse people for kicks, so let's do that."
kallieflower: We would have a general plot of how we wanted to go and what points we wanted to hit. Chloe would start to write it, but then I would be like “WAIT WHAT ABOUT THIS.” And then she would pretend she thought I was a total nuisance but we all know she’s too soft and sweet to ever say no to anything. Also our artists were such a LOVELY help too.
b l u e: We wanted as much of their input as possible and we wanted to make this as much of a collab as we could. The train scene at the beginning of the third chapter was all nori because she was mad at us for only torturing Soul and wanted Maka to cry too.
Q: Nori/Souly did you have a favorite piece of art to make?
the monkey chain (soul): The skating scene was my fave. I also accidentally changed the part in the fic with the skating since I didn't ask what kind of skates they were supposed to be kfljgdf.
b l u e: LMAO it's our fault though!!!! We were Too Slow.
nori-wings: Black*Star dragging Soul and Maka is my favorite, it was super fun to draw.
b l u e: When you sent the first wip of that, I think I cried for days. It was better than my dreams. You were both so fast GOD, it takes me seventeen years just to sketch a pic.
kallieflower: For real tho. We don’t deserve artists.
nori-wings: They are exaggerating, it was a quick sketch that I made on a post it lol. It took me a week to draw it in digital.
the monkey chain (soul): I had free time since we moved and were without internet for a night so I had a ton of time to finish my pic.
Q: Did you have trouble meeting the deadline?
kallieflower: Trouble is putting it lightly lmao. We died. Many times.
b l u e: I don't trust fast writers. Clearly they are superhuman. It wouldn't have been hard if we didn't spend so much time drowning in memes and shitposts that we neglected to write.
kallieflower: I blame the internet.
Q: Were there any scenes that you guys really struggled with writing?
b l u e: The beginning, definitely. Everything else flowed out pretty quickly, but the beginning made us want to cry into our pillows and smash our keyboards.
kallieflower: I think there was a period of time where Chloe was like, “I will physically pay you money to write this scene so I don’t have to.” But yeah, the beginning scenes were definitely hardest to write. I think we rewrote them like a million times.
Q: Nori and Souly, was there a part of your art that was trickier to do?
nori-wings: I think painting Soul and Maka's kiss, because I wanted to use as few colors as possible and I played a lot with shading, or at least I tried haha.
the monkey chain (soul): Uhhhh not really for me? My pieces were relatively simple and probably the most issue I had was drawing Maka's skates and figuring out what Soul would be wearing.
b l u e: I cried when we got paired with souly.
kallieflower: Chloe literally fangirled to hell over getting souly as our second artist. And we were very lucky to get nori as our artist too because we already became really close friends through the zine and talked all the time. Our resbang just gave us an excuse to move all our blabber to a personal server lmao.
nori-wings: Yeah, they asked me to be something like a beta but I ended up being their artist.
kallieflower: We joked about it beforehand too and were SO happy it happened. We were so blessed with support and love this year. We never would’ve finished without the help of our artists and betas.
nori-wings: They are making it sound nice, but we wouldn't let them drop out.
kallieflower: LMFAOOOOOO. Nori likes to be sassy but she’s one of the softest of us all
b l u e: We legitimately would've dropped out if not for our artists.
kallieflower: “Do it for our artists” was our mantra through the whole process when we wanted to quit. Peer pressure makes diamonds, maybe.
b l u e: I mean, it didn't feel like that when we were bullshitting our way through our next 5k before each deadline, but it be like that sometimes.
Q: What was your favourite scene to write?
b l u e: My favorite to write was definitely the nightmare demon scene.
kallieflower: Because she’s a sadist and likes angst. Chloe likes to make people feel pain so her favorite scenes were definitely the angsty ones.
b l u e: FDSJFKDSF
Q: For errbody: what do you feel like you improved/grew in this resbang, writing and arting-wise??
kallieflower: For me, I definitely grew in writing skills even though I didn’t end up writing much of this bang (chloe, bless your soul for carrying me this year lmao) because chloe is SO GOOD at writing that it made me want to be better, learn better, do better.
b l u e: Kallie made me work harder than I ever have my entire life and it paid off SO MUCH. I very much only ever write ventfics.
the monkey chain (soul): I feel like I Peaked with Maka's outfit in the skating picture, like I don't pride myself in outfit design much these days but Maka's outfit came out so good. I didn't expect it.
Q: Were there any parts of Unrequited that really pushed you out of your comfort zone?
b l u e: Writing with someone else was such an experience.
kallieflower: We definitely had to compromise a lot in terms of writing. Like I wanted Soul to walk in on Kid touching Maka’s scar and Chloe immediately said “fine, but only if we make Kid a gardener” and if that isn’t a super fair trade off, idk what is. Chloe and I work so well together so that was easy. And we like a lot of the same things.
b l u e: There was a little adjustment [with adapting to different writing styles] but not much, because despite what kallie says, she's actually so freaking smart and talented it actually makes my eyes water.
Q: If you had the time to do something differently, what would you do and why?
b l u e: Everything. Jk no but really. There's just a lot I wish we could've elaborated on. And more suffering to be had of course. I just wish we had more time to elaborate on Spirit and Maka's mom.
kallieflower: Oh god yeah. Maka did not get enough of a backstory in the manga or anime and that makes me sad always.
Q: What made you both decide on the outcome of the curse? Did the witch know how it was going to affect Kid?
b l u e: We actually knew the outcome from the very beginning when we decided what kind of curse it was.
Q: Okay SO one last question for the crew. What is next!!!! >:)
nori-wings: Next collab is me writing and Chloe as my artist. (She just doesn't know it.)
b l u e: FDHDJFKSDDSF
kallieflower: OMG PLS HAHAHA. I’d be all over that collab. Chloe is working on a soma longfic she won’t let me beta because she’s Secretive. And I am trying to work up the energy to use my keyboard again after the hell that was finishing Resbang.
Thanks to the crew for stopping by! Stay tuned for more transcripts!

Things I noticed about Victor Frankenstein on my second PD watch that I hadn’t noticed the first time:
1. His introduction scene had a slightly different tone than my first impression. Maybe it’s because I know his nature better than I did the first time and so the first time was more of a genuine first impression rather than a ‘lol victor, stop’ kind of thing BUT while he was super arrogant he was also curious. My first watch I thought he was really talking down to Ethan. He was talking down to EVERYONE, yes, what with not wanting to waste time explaining things they could never understand (rude, victor, rude) but then he learns Ethan is American and the FIRST TIME I watched I thought Victor was talking down to him and being all “pfft do YOU understand x y z? no, stupid american”. But I completely missed the context. The second time, I didn’t. He wasn’t talking down to Ethan and assuming he didn’t know anything. Victor was ASKING him if he knew anything so that he could TEACH him. Victor was aware of the advancements with electricity being made in America. Victor was interested in using electricity for his own purposes, but it wasn’t easy since the technology wasn’t as widespread or whatever over in England. (side note: according to my own research this is a bit off - america started to use lightbulbs in 1879/1880 and england in 1882, not a big difference, and google did say that the spread was slow in America, taking almost 50yrs before it was commonplace in homes and such (there is also a scene in The Knick which takes place in 1900 where they first get lights installed in the hospital). I’m not sure how long it took in england but regardless, PD takes place in 1891. So maybe the timeline is a bit off or maybe it was SLOW progress in both countries). ANYWAY- Victor was asking him GENUINELY if he knew about electrical matters because he was hoping that he did and would teach him so that he would have better electrical knowledge to work with for his own “research”. His tone switched from arrogance and pride to curiosity.
2. Caliban was stalking Victor (I mean obviously he must have been but I didn’t think they actually showed it). I completely missed this. Like, completely. So when Caliban DID show up it legit was out of nowhere for me. The first time I watched I was watching a super LOW RESOLUTION version and to say it was dark and fuzzy is to pay it a compliment. So when Victor’s outside his apartment building and looks over his shoulder AFTER a shadowy figure gets just out of sight was completely lost on me. I also hadn’t noticed the first time that Victor is paranoid as fuck. I put his unease on his location - it doesn’t seem like the safest of areas to live - rather than paranoia that someone may be looking for him. (Tho, hindsight is 20/20 and now I also know better).
3. Victor’s apartment. Just little background things. The absolute clutter being comprised of books and notebooks and a plate with uneaten/barely eaten food. Like, damn, Victor, take care of yourself. The way he turns his notebooks with anatomy sketches over when he goes to answer the door and hides the key to his workshop in a glass jug. Just those kinds of little things.
4. “You have the soul of a poet”. Damn straight he does. God damn, I’ve heard emo kids back in the day use less poetic language in diaries. I also noticed during this scene that he’s very, very passionate. Also arrogant, did that come across yet? lol. But I mean - if it’s something that interests him he talks loud and quick about it. With all that flowery poetic language if he can. There are several instances when he whispers about it - tho most likely because he knows that the things he’s saying are not considered acceptable and they are in public. But he’s definitely one who could go on for HOURS about his favorite things if you asked him about them. However, if he feels that the person he’s speaking with doesn’t really care - or wouldn’t understand (not necessarily the science behind it but that they wouldn’t understand WHY it’s FASCINATING) then he would rather not even say anything at all.
5. This one’s not an observation but rather a question I’ve come up with: He’s succeeded where he wanted to. In resurrection. In creating life from death. So why does he speak like he’s NEVER done it before when he brings it up with Malcolm? Is he that far in denial about what he’s done that he’d rather forget he ever did it to begin with? To lie to others AND HIMSELF that it was ever done. He’s acting more like he needs to RE-DISCOVER what he’s already done rather than simply doing it a second time. Also - when Proteus is “born”, if you will, Victor is scared - yes - but he also is overcome with pride and happiness. He’s DONE IT. But... he’s done it before. So what’s so different this time, Victor? Why is Proteus different from Caliban? No, Proteus didn’t wake up screaming. But really? You flee and pretend it never happened because a conscious being was screaming? Damn. So yeah, I really want to know what the difference is between Proteus’ creation and Caliban’s because I see no difference and yet the reaction for each was SO DIFFERENT. (I can see that the first time he wasn’t expecting it AT ALL whereas the second time when he saw the body was gone he was like ‘shit, ok, so it happened again’ but like - his GOAL was to bring life. So why is it when it happened he was like FUUUUUCK’ like bro, that’s exactly what you wanted to happen. lol)

August 10th-August 16th, 2019 Creator Babble Archive
The archive for the Creator Babble chat that occurred from August 10th, 2019 to August 16th, 2019. The chat focused on the following question:
What is your process for planning out the paneling/layout of each comic page?
kayotics
I’ve finally gotten my process down to a process that works for me. For Ingress Adventuring Company https://www.ingress-comic.com/ I start with scripting the whole chapter out. Step two is thumbnailing the whole chapter out, so I can figure out pacing and paneling. I started to do thumbnailing on sheets of printer paper, which has been easier to figure out my drawings and to see how the comic flows on paper. Once that’s done it’s pretty straight forward. Panel borders in pencils > rough sketch & balloon placement > letters and tight sketch in pencils > ink letters > ink bubbles and borders > ink the rest of the page. Then I scan it and do the colors. With the thumbnail process I kind of do the chapter twice in pencils but it ended up being way easier in the long run, since I hate doing panel layouts and doing that work in the beginning is way easier.

Afraid there's no scripting for https://oldmanandtheseawitch.tumblr.com/. It's all pretty much in my head but I go over it literally every day, and I have a few roleplays archived to keep things on the right track, but that's about it. Thumbnails are done in big batches. Last batch was about 20+ pages done at once. Thumbnailing is also where I figure out composition and such. Just detailed enough to give me the idea of what I want, with enough leeway to do as I please on the page itself. Thumbnails done, I make a batch of empty pages, and go in and make all the panels for the 20+ pages. Since I already know the composition from the thumbnails and I have digital guides set up on each page, that's super easy. With all of those done, then I just go back in, do rough sketches for each page. Cleaner than the thumbnails but not too clean yet. Once the rough sketches are done, this is actually where I'll add text and balloons, so that I know what the bubbles will be hiding and don't have to waste extra time. After that, I do as much in large batches as I can, usually cleanup sketches, then inks, maybe flat colors. But after that point, I just have to sit down to work on individual pages until they're done. And voila!

http://signsofthreecomic.webcomic.ws/comics/ For Signs of Three, I always start with the script, get the basic idea of what I'm going for in the page. Then panel layout and gesture sketches of people and the environment. THEN! BEFORE I START DETAIL SKETCHING! I LAY IN THE SPEECH BUBBLES. Seriously speech bubbles are critical to controlling how readable your page is and so so many people don't seem to see that. They must lead from one bubble and panel to the next in an easy to understand way or your reader will get lost and confused. So I always make sure to put bubbles in during thumbnailing. After that it's just basic refining the sketch, lining, coloring, and shading.
AntiBunny
Typically in AntiBunny http://antibunny.net/ I thumbnail a page first to decide what needs to happen. After that I look at those event and decide panel layout based on how best to depict them, factoring in what needs to fit, who needs to be there, and how time will pass. I'd say time is the most important aspect, followed by emphasis, and then content. Typically bigger panels depict more time passing, but that's not a concrete rule. A big panel can depict a very short moment in time. The amount of population has a big play in that as well. A lot of action in a big panel can be a short moment in time that's just heavily emphasized. A big panel with very little movement depicted is great for dwelling on a single moment, which is great for slowing down the pace of reading.

I used to not have a script at all, but now I tend to write out scripts in advance. I keep a four-panel format in mind (2x2) when I write a strip, but I'll sometimes combine or split panels depending on the flow of the story. (I'll place some sample strips below, showing a "default" 2x2 strip, and a few that combine or split panels based on that structure) I then draw guidelines in Manga Studio (I have the CD, not the digital version that became Clip Studio Paint) for where each panel will be. I put the dialogue in each panel, sometimes editing for space or to fit it nicer in a speech bubble. I can usually visualize how a speech bubble will generally fit in a scene; it's easier for me to draw around the bubble than to draw first and add the words later. After I sketch out the panels, I may move the words around to fit in the scene a little better. I may even tweak it a little when I draw the speech bubble around the text, if I don't like how the text fits in the bubble or how the bubble fits in the scene. As I mentioned earlier, here's two strips. One has four panels (which is the most common for me), the other has six. The latter is made by splitting the upper right panel into two skinny panels, and breaking the bottom half into three panels rather than two. Not only does it give me enough panels to do a complicated visual gag, but having panels with a similar layout next to each other makes the action easier to follow, and thus makes the gag flow better.
Desnik
For http://ask-a-warlock.tumblr.com/, I make tiny thumbnails to quickly go through layouts. I tend to have a few different ideas and doing small/quick is a lot easier on the revisions

For Phantomarine (http://www.phantomarine.com/) I've gotten into the habit of thumbnailing each chapter extremely roughly in a sketchbook, then bringing the pages into Photoshop and shifting the panels around to improve the flow throughout the chapter. I put in rough dialogue bits to anticipate balloons, then I get going on rough sketches and color placement in Procreate, then clean up and paint the sketches, then bring them back into Photoshop to finalize the page. It's honestly really haphazard, just because I tend to change details and dialogue around a lot, depending on what I feel is working/failing - but that core chapter flow doesn't change too much, just so I don't get caught needing more pages in one part. So... I keep the roughs very rough, but I adhere to them quite strongly? The details are where things get experimental (edited)
JUNK
I am a fool who hasn't been doing thumbnails lately, so my process is the typical script>sketch>inks>tone.
MJ Massey
I start with my storyboards, which are just skethcy first drafts of the pages in a sketchbook. I have a vague genreal story outline, but this is where I really figure things out--both the layouts and the script.
In my head, I tend to see things as if they were an animation, so I am usually trying to catch that sense of movement in the comic panels. I try to keep things interesting and thinking outside the typical grid layout, usually resulting in some pretty crazy stuff. It's easier with action scenes, but I try to mix up everything. I do my final pages on 9x12 bristol (I used to work on 11x14 but that was...too big for markers), but there are many times where I will scrap the storyboard and do something totally different for the final page, or add or take away things. But it's good to have that first draft down as an idea, it's easier to adjust from there if I need to

@LadyLazulii love your process ahhh!!!

Nutty (Court of Roses)
For Court of Roses http://courtofroses.thecomicseries.com/ I mostly sketch out thumbnails, scan them in, and lineart/color. Like most of y'all, I have a general story outline, and specific scenes get more detail as I work closer to them. If there's a scene that has emotional hits and I want the right dialogue for it, I'll script it. If there's lots of exposition and detail, I'll script it. Just, largely winging it on my end!

I usually work from loose script dialogue for a chapter, to get the feel for the page, then start thumbnailing. After thumbnailing tho, I redraw the thumbnails on csp, sketch, then change/define panel layout or render till finish. Often, my thumbnails don't give me enough info till I start the page. And that's good for me since it's still under a set guideline but I don't feel rigid on "Oh gotta make it exactly like this" or some sorts. Same goes with dialogue/scripts too since I tend to go back and correct panel layout if i don't think it was strong enough on the first go. Idk, I treat it more of a fluid process that I can go back and fix due to how I digitally paint/render things. Still the process depends on the page i'm working on, how strong the thumbnails are, dialogue, and color scheme theme I had with certain pages. Most of it is 40% gut feeling tho. Images shown here how I got OIYD! Ch. 2 - Page 15 to be to its finished form. [thumbnail-> Rough sketch -> add with color -> final render with dialogue]
ErinPtah (Leif & Thorn | BICP)
I took scans/notes about each step of the BICP page-making process back during chapter 5: http://www.bicatperson.com/comic/step-by-step/ ...and then again, seven years later, during chapter 28: http://www.bicatperson.com/comic/the-webcomic-page-making-process/ The art has gotten better, but the actual workflow...basically hasn't changed. (If it ain't broke...)

First I have the script for the entire book, which I'll have finished ahead of time. At the start of each chapter, I'll divide the upcoming script into pages based on how I want the comic to be paced - e.g. making sure the setup and punchline to a joke aren't on different pages, making sure there's not too much dialogue to read on a single page, etc. Then, when it comes time to do the page, I'll split things up into panels. That's pretty easy - I generally want to keep things to one line of spoken dialogue per panel, or one "action" per panel. Sometimes there'll be beat panels, sometimes two people will talk in one panel, but that's the general rule. Next I... put together the panels. I don't really use thumbnails to work this stuff out - important panels or panels with more dialogue are bigger, less important panels or ones with less dialogue are smaller. I try to make sure panels don't intrude on each others' vertical space, because i've always found that complicates things in a web medium - but that just means there's less for me to worry about. I make sure the panel layout is different from the previous page, and if there's an action I need to emphasize I'll do something weirder than just a rectangle. If there's not enough space on one page for the panel sizes I want, I'll make it a double-length or triple-length page. As for the actual artwork - I try to make sure the reader's eye line is led along the page. So panels on the left would have the characters generally facing to the right, and panels on the right would have the characters generally facing downward and to the left. I try to leave enough space for word bubbles - and in general, the characters on right panels will be placed lower than characters on left panels, because i want the speech bubbles to move downward as you read across a row. And, well, that's basically it!(edited)

finally someone who considers the eyeflow (am joking, mostly)(edited)

i didn't always, but a reviewer once told me how one specific action scene was really difficult for him to parse because the eye flow was just completely in the wrong direction, nearly every panel. so since then i've been making a conscious effort about it :p it's tough when there's two characters up against a wall and you need the page to flow the other direction from how they're standing though, lol.
