as we know, joe alwyn was spotted at an event recently, wearing an “artists for ceasefire” pin. i guess that really wounded taylor’s ego that he was getting positive reactions, it CERTAINLY wounded her fans, and so she decided to perform her song “you’re losing me” live for the first time ever to remind everyone that joe is bad and taylor is America’s #1 victim, ALWAYS.

and she not only performed “you’re losing me” live for the first time, she also announced a bonus track for her upcoming album which we ALL know is going to be a bunch of diss tracks against joe.

are we surprised by this? NO, of course not, people on twitter literally predicted this, because taylor always does something related to “you’re losing me” when joe is spotted at an event ANYWHERE.

CASE IN POINT:

on may 23, 2023, joe alwyn was spotted at the cannes film festival

and the VERY next day, taylor announced an exclusive new version of her midnights CD, with the new song “you’re losing me” on it.

the song remained CD exclusive for a few months, until november, when joe alwyn was spotted at the GQ men of the year event.

the very next day, taylor quickly got her team to work, putting out articles to shade him and remind everybody of how HAPPY she is with the football player.

and then exactly 13 days later, taylor announced that her song “you’re losing me” would be available on ALL streaming platforms, as a “thank you” to her fans. yeah, i’m SURE that was the reason. thank you for getting me to the top, now go harass my ex now, please.

and she also had her friend/LAPDOG keleigh teller liking anti-joe tik tok posts.

if it hasn’t been clear that taylor swift is OBSESSED with her ex, it is clear as fucking day now. and we already know she’s gonna release a diss track off her new album on his birthday. she is extremely predictable with her pettiness and is doing everything she can to try and hurt joe, and incite her fans against him.

unfortunately for her, joe will continue being unbothered, while taylor’s stuck with her current boyfriend who is an egotistical drunk piece of shit with a bad temper and SKIDMARKS, who can’t even remember the lyrics she changed for him.

Although she can't really go from 🏈gf to gay without it being some crazy reveal of his acting prowess (interesting idea!) or something, she could go from 🏈gf to bi. I don't think she will ever come out publicly as a lesbian unless she really is planning to upend everything.

Recently, I have seen many ridiculous swiffer posts confidently explaining exactly what happened with Toe and how Taylor felt about it, and how TTPD will tell all. If the album actually makes it unequivocally clear she is not straight, you will be able to hear me laughing from here. The reveal they did not see coming - they broke up because she likes women too and he couldn't handle it. I wonder if that angle might get her some sympathy instead of pushing fans away. And would 🏈 then be celebrated as loving her for who she 'really' is or is that something that would be too much for his ego, I wonder?

I wish I could say I believe the majority of her fans are capable of understanding and accepting her as a not straight women in the year of our lord 2024, but I think the only way that plays out is if she herself isn’t ashamed anymore. If she came out loud and proud as “this is who I am take it or leave it” I truly think she’d have better outcomes with swifties than if she tip toes around it in secret for forever. When you are truly comfortable with yourself, you give people no other option but to follow suit—especially with her level of power over her fans

re the first paragraph: you're correct, taylor is a very unreliable narrator. and it is in-character for her to insult a girl for being unfeminine, as she does project her own insecurities onto others. however, the book was authored in 2011 by a cishet white guy who has been provably and repeatedly homophobic outside of the book. it's simply implausible that the authorial intent was to consciously depict taylor as being butchphobic because of insecurity as opposed to this statement reflecting certain authorial opinion! another example of this is found in taylor constantly mentioning how fat people are--it's plausible and in-character for her to be fatphobic, but the constant judgemental mentions of characters being fat in other wildbow novels (e.g. pact) where the narrator would not realistically be fatphobic make it clear that the statements are the author's biases leaking into the text vs. an intentional writing decision. again, it was a book written in 2011 by a cishet white guy. if something seems casually bigoted, it isn't liable to be a conscious and intelligent writing decision, it's probably just casually bigoted.

2. re the second paragraph: i'm not sure why you're bringing these points up here, because the original post straight up did not say "he's racist because the nazis get more screentime."

the issue with the depiction of nazis in worm is not that they're given screentime, but that the narrative grants them more internal complexity, nuanced characterization, and humanity than many non-white characters. the leader of the merchants, for example, is a drug-addicted black man portrayed as savage, stupid, disgusting, and in the wrong for not being willing to work with nazis. the nazis, on the other hand, receive multiple interludes which demonstrate them to be complex & whole people. this is racist writing.

the asian gang receives a lot of screentime, yes. however, during that screentime, they're portrayed as so evil and problematic that the protagonists are morally justified in working with nazis to defeat them. i reiterate, it is portrayed as morally justifiable for our white protagonist to cooperate with nazis to purge characters of color from the city. that is racist writing. it's also racist that lung plays into a noble savage trope and bakuda plays into the fiery blue-eyed asian girl trope.

out of a massive cast of characters, the only black characters are brian (whose character arc is abruptly brushed aside and ignored for a large portion of the book), aisha (who is introduced in the most hypersexualized misogynoiristic way possible), coil (who is announced as black via WoG, and has a literal child slave he repeatedly drugs), dr mother (coldhearted leader of conspiracy which performs nonconsensual experiments on humans), skidmark (portrayed as ugly, disgusting, drug-addicted, animalistic, and stupid), sophia (black woman portrayed as cruel, simpleminded, animalistic, and responsible for as opposed to targeted by police brutality), and chariot (random background character working for coil). you can see how much of the writing going on here is racist, yes? it's frankly absurd to hold up the existence of A Singular Relevant Black Character as a counter to the idea that worm has racist writing.

in conclusion. yes the 2011 book by a cishet white guy has some biases and shitty parts in it. that's to be expected from 2011 books by cishet white guys.

Just saw the post about Beetlestalk and I have a kind of niche question. When you made up a word for stalk, you defined it as a plant-based term, but stalk is also a verb like, for hunting, at least in English. Would kaskir also be the word for stalk-the-verb, or is that different in Clanmew? And more broadly are there other examples of that, where one word means two things in English but not Clanmew?

Kaskir is different from the stalking-verb, yep! It refers only to plant stalks.

There's also a difference between "a patch of plants" (Chafa) and "irregularly-shaped spots on a cat's coat" (Konpen)

Patchpool = Konpenslof Patchpelt = Chafaborrl

After all, Clanmew is not English, and the only way to preserve every one of those little shared words would be to do it directly. For the record though I do try to preserve it in some way when it's funny.

Rating Turbo FAST Ships

Yo guys! It's been a while I haven't posted some stuff here, sooo… I was thinking to make an post about ships and I decided to share some ships of Turbo Fast to rate, probably I will do more, I just need to make some clarifications about the rating

8 to 10: GOOD

7 to 5: Neutral

4 to 0: BAD

Ik this was not necessary but just a reminder, this is based completely 100% on my opinions, Soo.. Let's goooooo!!

8/10 - Turdmark (Turbo x Skidmark)

Tbh in beginning i didn't saw so much potential in this ship, I DIDN'T understand why people shipped them, but when I started to watch turbo fast I could understand why people shipped them, their dynamic IT'S SO GOOOD KDKAJED, I believe if they had more development I would give 10, btw Turdmark still an good ship!!

6/10 - WhiteMark (White Shadow x Skidmark)

Yeah another SKIDMARK SHIP AGAIN AKSKAJJDSJ, I saw some few people shipping these two, I can find this ship cute? Yeah, but tbh I think their dynamic work more an platonic friends than an possible couple, and another reason I can't find them having an romantic relationship it's cuz I don't see Shadow having any romantic interest in anyone, but idc if you ship them :)

7/10 - Turdcase (Hardcase x Turbo)

I not surprised there's some people shipping these two, besides “enemies to lovers“ is an famous ship trope, actually Turdcase it's a pretty popular ship as like Turdmark in the fandom, I don't have many thoughts on this ship, I don't like so much “enemies to lovers” trope, tbh I have the same thought I has with shadow, hardcase seems he is not really into on romance, but even I don't ship them, it's not a bad ship, I will give 7 for them!!

7/10 - Smooplash (Smoove x Whiplash)

I didn't even know there's was some people ships them, I can see why some people ships them, but personally I think whiplash is too much for Smoove, ik my man has some heart but he is too serious for him 😭, and I see their dynamic more like platonic than an romantic way, like they being old friends thing, but apart of it, it would be interesting to see how they would work as an couple, they still not a bad ship :)

3/10 - Turyaku - (Turbo x Hayaku)

Yeahhh, another ship that was once popular on fandom, personally this ship just doesn't work, shipping them seems so forced considering what's happened between them on season 3, I believe if they had more interactions and development (of course WITHOUT turbo being so desperate for her) I would give an chance to this ship, but this ships kinda sucks tbh, anyways, if you ship them idc, be happy :)

9. worst part of canon

The racism. I could feel in my bones the version of worm where Skidmark was given even the slightest hint of internality. Where the desire to understand what motivates a character is extended to him, instead of using him mostly as a racist carciature. I don't know, maybe you can't write a non-racist verison of Skidmark's type of character. Or maybe WB wouldn't be able to. I'm convinced that he would come up with something more interesting than the cardboard cutout of a broken windows PSA that we got. I'd rather have a Shylock than a Barabas.

Add in the early description of Aisha, the portrayal of the Yangban, the focus on Sophia's physicality compared to the rest of the trio, etc. Lot that could be reworked.

Would also want to talk about Wildbow's general fatphobia because that seems both the most wildly obvious and somehow least discussed problem but that should probably be its own post.

20. part of canon you found tedious or boring

I kinda felt like the Butcher arc was going through the motions. Like, the idea of Butcher is cool, and I get why she's such a big part of wormfics from what I've seen, but the actual mini-arc just felt like a weird tangent. It dragged on the pacing of going through an incredibly high-stakes fight for survival to dealing with what would have been a high-stakes fight like eight arcs ago. There's nothing about the Teeth (or really about the Ambassadors at this point) that makes us care about the fight, and there's little stylistically to dig into; aesthetically they just seem like a retread of the Slaughterhouse 9 with a more Mad-Max bent.

Worm Reading - Part 5, Arc 5 Hive

Back at it! Taking notes as I go this time, so expect more short reactions to individuals moments/sentences.

Ahhh a good ol’ Bad Guy Council Meeting! We get our first looks at a whole bunch of the other villains in this town. Interesting to see where the Undersiders fall on the power scale: clearly above lowlifes like Skidmark, but otherwise pretty low on the hierarchy. I’d assume our team could mayyyybe go toe-to-toe with Faultline’s crew but it depends on who gets the drop. Would definitely lose to Kaiser’s crew. Coil is very interesting, but I’d assume his hi-tech goons could overpower the Undersiders. Trickster and his team are interesting out-of-towners, but I’d assume if they’re surviving on the road they’re capable of taking care of themselves.

I do feel like I’ve seen the name Faultline crop up in Worm Fandom posts in the past, so I feel like this character may end up being important? I don’t remember in what capacity though. Curious to see what her powers are.

Ok, once again we see Brian being abusive towards Rachel. And I get that he thinks it’s justified. But just from the language he uses you can tell this is something he gets from his dad. I don’t like it. If the only way you can control someone is with violence, does that make it ok?

Hero names “Assault” and “Battery” ugh it’s such a terrible pun. I hate it and it’s perfect.

We haven’t seen Shadow Stalker in action yet but as Grue’s nemesis I am covertly half-rooting for her. I hope she’s cool, I hope she kicks ass.

Oooh ok we’re going into a parent meeting at school about the bullying issue. Predictions: Danny is going to try and stand up for Taylor. He might blow up in a full rage outburst, he’s been holding that in for a long time. I don’t think they’ll actually have any success within the system though, Emma and her dad and their posse are too secure to face consequences here. However, if this goes really bad, I can see Taylor tip past the point of using her powers, which would be a disaster but would be a huge leap forward for the story, forcing her powers into the open and causing all sorts of interesting consequences.

Wow ok that went almost exactly how I expected. I had some hope at the beginning that all the documentation and obvious severity of abuse would tip the scales, but of course not. So we have yet again postponed Taylor going supernova on her bullies with her powers. I am becoming more and more convinced that’s the only way this is going to end.

Ok, we’re in the middle of the team-up raid on the ABB warehouse. Oni Lee is absolutely terrifying, honestly I’m not sure how you pin down someone with that sort of powerset. Hopefully he tires out at some point, but even then I assume he would just escape. The ability to bring items/weapons with him as he teleports and duplicates is super powerful as well. EDIT OH THAT WORKS ON THE BUGS TOO.

Ok Warehouse Raid is still ongoing, but Taylor has just demonstrated to Coil, Faultline, and Trickster’s teams that she can step up and take leadership to salvage a bad situation. I think that will not go unnoticed.

The eyeballs thing is BRUTAL and we are hardcore supporting my previous point!

Interlude 5: Gregor the Snail - Ok, some interesting worldbuilding. I like basically everyone on Faultline’s crew, especially... no yeah pretty much all of them. This definitely seems like the kind of group who can both notice and appreciate how Taylor handled the Warehouse situation.

Most interesting development here is the introduction of a potential person/group creating new parahumans. I had a suspicion this topic would crop up. It is, frankly, very well-tread ground for modern superhero media. I suspect in this case the answer will be not nearly as simple as it first seems. There is almost guaranteed to be some sort of consequence or side effect for handing out powers.
