Except they all look good, damn.
(ID in alt and under cut, ref under cut)
Tumblr media
ID: 1. Colin, Nandor, Laszlo, and Guillermo standing in a line against a wall with patterned wallpaper, wearing drag. Colin has on a drab 70s businesswoman look, with a plaid knee length skirt, beige blazer with shoulder pads, a cream silk blouse with a neck bow, a single string of pearls, a flat cap with a feather, cat eye glasses, subtle makeup, and a shoulder length brown feathered wig. He is holding a brown leather clutch in one hand and standing up straight, staring. Nandor has on a sleeveless brick-colored turtleneck with a heart shaped cutout at the chest, a thick brown belt, leather miniskirt, dark gray stockings helps up with garters, two gold bracelets, and gold hoop earrings. His hair is down, curled into big waves, and he has dark dramatic eye makeup on with dark red lipstick. He is grinning seductively at the viewer, hands clasped in front of him demurely with his butt angled out. He didn't bother shaving his legs or chest for this, as a treat. Laszlo is dressed in a pale pink silk nightie with a bit of ruffle at the neckline making up both thin shoulder straps. He has a long string of pearls and glittery dangly earrings, his hair is swept back from his forehead, and he is wearing soft dusky pink eyeshadow with baby pink lipstick. He smiles at the viewer like they're his good lady wife come to ravish him, strap falling off one shoulder, that hand gliding up his opposite arm demurely as his free hand clutches the material of his nightie to pull it up his angled thigh. Guillermo stands with arms crossed, looking self conscious, wearing a green v neck sweater over a collared shirt and pleated miniskirt. He is wearing his normal glasses and pantyhose but no visible jewelry, and has on a dark wig with shoulder length curls and bangs. His makeup is not overly heavy but well done: a shimmering brown over his eyes and a dusky reddish-pink on his lips, expertly lined to bring out their shape. Overlaid on the image, each man's face is circled in red. Text pointing to Colin and Laszlo reads "doing it for the bit (world's dullest drag show and secksy roleplay, respectively)". Text pointing to Nandor reads "doing it for the bit but looks good doing it (discovering things about himself)". Text pointing to Guillermo reads "that is a woman. (guy who's good at everything)"
2. Original version of this image; a photo from the 80s of the band Queen wearing similar drag, with text overlaid pointing to john deacon and bryan may saying "doing it for the bit", pointing to freddie mercury and saying "doing it for the bit but looks good doing it", and pointing to roger taylor and saying "that is a woman" /end ID

The hallways of the Homeland Security headquarters were silent as you walked through them. It was late on a Thursday, already half past nine, and almost everyone had gone home hours ago except for the security guards at the front desk in the lobby. Everyone except your girlfriend, Dinah.
It was the third time this month that she’d stood you up for your dinner plans. You knew when you first met her how dedicated she was to her job, and while you admired her passion and tenacity, it also frustrated the hell out of you sometimes, especially when you’d spent over an hour getting ready. You hadn’t shaved for nothing. But, instead of starting a fight over it, you decided to compromise.
As you walked down the hallway from the elevators, you caught a clear view of a familiar head of dark brown curls. Dinah was hunched over her desk, her perfectly shaped dark brows pinched in pure concentration. She was so focused she didn’t even hear you approach. Standing in the doorway of her office, you took a moment just to take her in. She’d abandoned her blazer over the back of her chair most likely hours ago, leaving her in a sleeveless black blouse with a v-cut neckline, giving you a tantalizing view of her gorgeous skin, the gold pendant necklace she always wore dangling around her neck. It often annoyed you how effortlessly good she always looked.
Deciding to finally announce your presence, you lightly knocked on her open door, and Dinah’s head shot right up. Her laser focus melted into pure surprise, but there were a few hints of confusion etched onto her features.
“Hey, what are you doing here?”
“You missed dinner.”
Shooting you a puzzled look, her attention shifted to her phone lingering on her desk, and as she reached for it, Dinah clicked the side button and the screen lit up showcasing the time. She muttered a ‘shit’ under her breath, also noticing a few mixed calls and texts from you. Glancing up at you with guilt shining in her espresso tinted eyes, her face fell in pure remorse.
“Baby, I’m sorry-”
“Can you put those away?”
Dinah’s dark brows furrowed slightly in perplexity as she slightly tilted her head to the side. You motioned towards the grisly crime scene photos spread across her desk with your index finger before reaching into the tote bag you were carrying to pull out a large bag of takeout you’d brought.
“Murder kind of ruins my appetite.”
Dinah’s expression shifted to one of barely concealed bewilderment when you set the takeout bag down on the edge of her desk. Her eyes shifted between the large brown paper bag and your face, staring at you silently for a moment before a faint playful smile stretched over her lips. Leaning back in her chair, she looked up at you and lifted one of her perfectly arched brows.
“I stood you up, and you brought me dinner?”
There was a hint of amusement in her alluring voice, but also an undertone of lingering guilt. Shaking your head, you pulled out a bottle of red wine and two glasses, setting them next to the takeout bag before reaching into the tote again to retrieve a candle.
“Can’t stand me up if I’m bringing the date to you. Murder, away.”
Dinah let out a genuine laugh when you made a shooing motion with your hand towards the crime scene photos on her desk. Shifting them into a single pile, she collected them and slipped them into a file, tucking it into a drawer on the left side of her desk. She gazed up at you adoringly as you turned her desk into a makeshift dinner table, taking the food dishes out of the bag and spreading them out, uncorking the wine bottle to pour each of you a generous glass, and lighting the candle you’d brought and placed in the middle of her desk.
She reached for your arm and pulled you down to sit sideways on her lap, wrapping her arms around your waist while she leaned in to press a soft kiss to your neck, whispering into your ear.
“You’re too good to me, you know that?”
Tilting your head to the side a little to grant her more access to your sensitive skin, a faint smirk curled at the edge of your mouth.
“Oh don’t think I’m not making you earn your forgiveness later.”
You could feel Dinah grinning against your skin, nuzzling her nose along the underside of your jaw, one of her hands inching up your thigh towards the hem of your skirt.
“Why don’t you let me earn it now? I’m in the mood for dessert.”
Reaching down, you grabbed her wrist and halted her hand’s path, turning to look at her with an arched brow.
“Because dinner was at seven, and it’s now nine-thirty. You have about twenty minutes before I become a complete nightmare.”
Dinah let out a loud laugh at that, faintly shaking her head as she reached for one of the wine glasses and handed it to you.
“Alright baby girl, let’s get you fed. I’ll spread you out on my desk after.”
You nearly choked on your wine as your eyes widened, struggling to swallow before laughing.
“Dinah!”
“What?”
“No.”
“What do you mean ‘no’?”
“Di, your office is see-through.”
Dinah glanced between you and the glass windows of her office, taking a large sip of her wine before casually shrugging her shoulders and looking at you again.
“So?”
“Di-”
“No one’s here.”
“There are security guards-”
“In the lobby, downstairs.”
“And if someone decides to show up to get some late night work done?”
You gestured towards the elevators at the opposite end of the hallway that Dinah’s office had a straight and clear view of. She stared through the windows of her office towards the elevators, pursing her lips with a faint shrug of her shoulders.
“Then they’ll find out how much I love my girlfriend’s pussy.”

Can you share some tips to look hyperfeminine?
Hi love! Here are some of my tips to achieve the hyperfeminine aesthetic:
Style:
Choose clothes in pink, red, cream, champagne, and pastel shades
Opt for lightweight fabrics: silk, lace, satin, chiffon, cashmere, Pima cotton
Focus on form-fitting and flared-out silhouettes: Camisoles, sleeveless V-neck blouses, bootcut or flared pants, scallop-hemmed shorts/skirts/dresses, A-line (or fit & flare) dresses, skirts, outerwear. Belle or flared sleeves, ruched detailing
Consider items with crystal, embellishment, and sequin detailing (cuffs, collars, bows, buttons, self-tie closures, etc.)
Accessorize with platform heels, footwear with stiletto heels, a sleek ballet flat, espadrilles, or a white sneaker, dainty jewelry, hair clips, skinny belts, and small shoulder/ top handle/clutch handbags
Beauty:
Focus on achieving glowy skin with a silky foundation and pearl or champagne concealer on the tops of your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, the center of your forehead, the cupid's bow, and the chin
Use champagne eyeshadow on the inner corners of the eyes and right below the brow. White eyeliner to line the waterline can also provide this doe-eyed effect
Choose a peachy or pink lipstick in a light, medium, or deep hue with cool, blue undertones (or coral undertones if it better suits your skin tone and general coloring)
Keep your lips glossy or choose a lip product with a satin finish for a more subtle yet sumptuous look
Ensure your hair looks shiny and silky smooth with hydrating hair oil, leave-in conditioner, and shampoo/conditioner routine
Try a sweet, fruity, or floral perfume (lighter ones for daytime, more musky options for nighttime or winter)
Hope this helps xx

Twilight Clown Takes Special Edition: Khaki Skirt!!!
Because a "long, khaki-colored, still casual" skirt = conservative Mormon-coded khaki floor-length, obviously. It's canon!!!! It's this one garment brings all the clowns to the yard, including one unhinged video actually analyzing this bit. Minor clownery in the scheme of things, but it's still annoying as all hell, so...om nom nom
Tumblr media
Because focusing on big boob cleavage is much more ~respectable than partially or fully covered hips and legs. Wtf is OP on? Also, if Bella’s khaki-colored skirt is knee-length, which I have no doubt it is, then it wouldn't be more sexy than her boob blouse. It would have been basic, which is why Edward doesn't even mention it in Midnight Sun.
Tumblr media
"Collarbone" My brother in Christ, Bella's V-neck most likely showing more than just her collarbone. Edward may be repressed, but he is also a guy, and there is no way he'd consider collarbone>>>>boobage (consider his euphemistic description of Siobhan's, ha, assets). He was being very polite and using collarbone as a euphemism.
Tumblr media
Khaki as a color and neutral tones in general were in fashion in the 90s and 2000s, as other comments had pointed out. Also, Bella canonically isn't a Mormon. She longs for shorts and spaghetti straps - makes sense, given that she is from Arizona. So she has most certainly worn a tank top and probably still has tank tops in her wardrobe.
Not the Belly!!!!
Tumblr media
Not the clowns clutching pearls over the very idea of Bella wearing a tight blue blouse with belly showing. Considering Edward couldn't shut the fuck about it and the fact that he did describe the shirt as clinging to Bella's curves, we should not dismiss the possibility (albeit very slight).
Tumblr media
Bella begins the book wearing a sleeveless eyelet lace, her farewell outfit to Phoenix. And once again - and I cannot say this enough - she canonically longs for spaghetti straps and shorts.

matcha top sewalong pt 2
OK so the pattern directions have you as step 1 finish all your seam allowances. Normally I do that after I've sewn the seams, so this seems a bit odd. Especially as I'm making a muslin, I am going to disregard that instruction.
One pattern reviewer pointed out as well that there's no reason to finish the top seam, where the fronts and back are joined. Because the shoulder detail goes on over that. So, sew the fronts to the back at the shoulder wrong sides together, press the seam allowance flat, and just put the shoulder detail on over it. So I'll keep that in mind.
My first tip here is that I've learned that every project I make gets a plastic bag, which I scrawl on in sharpie with the name of the pattern. As soon as I cut something out, it gets flung into that plastic bag. This helps because 1) my sewing room is chaos and 2) I frequently relocate myself, and if i can grab A Bag that is the project, then I can take it with me, and if I can't then that thing is never getting finished and will become part of the sewing room chaos ambience background forever. So I had my plastic bag (i just save ones stuff comes in-- the nice ones from tomboyx or wherever with slider closures get used for projects with notions I'm carrying around, but this one was just a random bit of packaging) and I threw the pattern pieces in as I cut them-- wrote their names on them in chalk too, that really helps. But that's just my I Might Forget What I Was Doing Before I Get Back To This tip.
OH my other big tip: PDF patterns, you can send the instruction books to your Kindle, and then you have them as long as you don't lose your ereader. Also critical if you have to relocate your sewing operations ever. Or if sometimes there's hand-sewing you take with you or whatever. E-reader!!!!!! I only just figured this out so I know it sounds obvious but it was not to me.
The first thing it has you do is to sew the center front seam, and then finish the front neck opening. It's confusing in the diagram, showing a v-shaped notch between the top edges. That's slightly misleading, as they're straight panels at that point; you're just meant to sew them together, and then stop at the marked notch so you can get it on over your head, and then finish the open edges. The V-shaped opening that is the defining feature of this garment is caused, later, by gathering the body panels to the collar, but at this point they are still straight.
I think I'll just hem the two front pieces separately, and then join them, possibly just basting them together at first. One reviewer had complained that sewing it up to that notch didn't leave her enough room to get it on over her head, so for my muslin I'll certainly keep that in mind. I do plan on making this blouse more than once, so I'll make notes on the pattern pieces about height of neck opening, width of panels etc. And I fully expect I'll need to cut back the shoulder detail, so I kept the embroidery to the inner part.
So. 1) Join center front pieces.
2) stitch shoulder seams / attach shoulder detail right, I'm going to sew the shoulder seams wrong sides together, and press the seam allowance flat, and then attach the shoulder detail as described. I'm going to try it on at that point and see how much wider than my shoulder it is, but I don't think I'm going to make any alterations just yet. Because I think gathering it to the collar is going to affect the fit, and I want to see how that goes.
Ah, they have step 3 as attach sleeves-- I should've used the sleeveless version as my toile, I just didn't want a sleeveless blouse. LOL. Well, if you're doing this, do a sleeveless toile to simplify things. As for me, I am going to skip attaching the sleeves, and do the collar first. I know why they did the sleeves first, once everything's gathered it's gonna be a pain in the ass to get it to lie flat to get the armscye and sleeve head lined up. But I can handle that. Better that than having to rip the sleeve off to change it later.
So, for my toile, 3) Make And Attach Collar. This means you need to gather the whole neckline except where it's under the shoulder detail. So you do the front and back separately. I usually gather shit by hand, my machine doesn't baste with a long enough stitch. So i'll do that-- long gathering stitches along each front panel, and then around the back panel, and each will stop at the edge of the shoulder detail. OK cool. Set that aside.
Make the collar-- I'm going to handsew the last bit, so I'll follow the hand-finishing directions. Fold long edge of one piece 5/8" to wrong side, press. Unfold, place right sides together, sew the inner curve and the two short sides stopping short of where your pressed fold is. Clip corners, turn right side out, poke corners out, press. Sure.
Now attach the collar, this is the fun bit. Find the collar center, match it to the center back neck, pin in place. Now you pull your gathering stitches to make the fabric short enough to match the collar. It's just endless fussing to make it the right length. You just gotta gather the shit out of it, make it look even as much as you can, and then pin it down. Sew it, and then press it, and then trim the seam allowance down inside once you've got it right.
Then the finish, turn the whole thing inside out so you've got the open edge of the collar set over the already-sewn seam from the other side. Then you sew that down, and the pattern instructions have a nice diagram of what stitch to use.
Now I'll try it on and see. And i bet I'll be like mm yeah there need to be like five inches less of shoulder. So I will decide, do I try to re-cut the armscye, and re-cut the sleeve to match? Or do I just. Unpick part of the shoulder detail and gather the shoulder seam under that too? So the shirt is massively gathered, not just at the collar but also at the shoulders? I'm going to have to see how that looks. (Why attach the shoulder detail first, you ask? Well because otherwise getting its inner edge under the collar is going to be a pain in the ass, and keeping the front and back gathering from being under it also would be a pain in the ass. So I'm going to basically baste it on, and then re-topstitch it down once I've got the fit right.)
I know, I also could have gone ahead and cut a size 10 or whatever. But I was worried about the sleeves. Because, as a plus-sized person, my frame is not really larger than a straight-sized person's, but it is more padded. Bony areas like shoulders generally don't get very much larger as a person goes up in weight-- I don't have broad shoulders, but I also don't have disproportionately narrow shoulders. What I have are huge fucking tits, which is a really common weight distribution. But I also have chubby arms. They're not notably large, but they're not skinny either; they're proportional to my plus-sized body. So in a not-so-well-graded pattern like this, yes I have the shoulder measurement of a size 10 person. But I surely will not have the bicep measurement of a size 10 person. Because I have size 24 tits. So I wasn't about to make a size 10 blouse, discover that the chest ease was adequate, and then not be able to get my arms through the sleeves. And I can't cut a size 10 body and size 24 sleeves and expect the armscye to match the sleeve head at all.
Again, I'm not mad at this company, they've obviously put a lot of work in over the last couple of years and I see fantastic reviews of their more recent patterns from sewists of all sizes, and I see that their models always now include plus-size ones, and clearly so do their pattern testers, from the reviews I find when I search up the pattern names. But this is just an example of the kinds of stuff you have to think about when sewing. And I'm so glad so much work has been done, in the online sewing communities of the world, with brave people unashamedly posting their measurements and speaking out about their experiences and leaving honest reviews of things. This is a pretty recent development and I've only been on the fringes of it, so I'm very glad of it.
But that's why I cut this out of not super expensive fabric, because if I have to mess around with the armscyes a lot I'm going to have a lot of shreds on the floor before I'm done. But the reviews say there's so much ease, so I have a lot of room to work with, and will likely still have a usable garment, and if I don't, I can pick this collar and shoulder detail off and put them onto a new set of body panels, and try again. No big deal!
So that's my game plan, later when I'm in front of a sewing machine, and we shall see how that goes. Get the collar on, double-check the shoulder fit, maybe do something wacky to make it work, then lay it flat and get the sleeves on, then sew up the side seams, and then worry about hemming things.
And then I will finish my seam allowances, once I know the thing fits. I am contemplating doing the topstitching along the center front seam by hand, in embroidery thread-- I embroidered the black shoulder details in blue, and then I was thinking I'd topstitch the blue body panels in black, just to finish it nicely and make it something really special. Because I do think this pattern deserves a special final result!
Then I'll transfer my markings back to the paper pattern so I know what I did, and then I can cut out another one in more expensive/fussy fabric, and spend more time embroidering and whatnot, because I do feel like the SL company's aesthetic really lends itself to that kind of execution. That's what drew me to their patterns anyway, the really crunchy hippie Slow Stitching stuff.
(Hilariously, as I talk about sewing more, and as I've done some garment sewing going along, I'm realizing that my dreams of achieving some kind of coherent wardrobe are doomed by the fact that the things I love do not fall into a single aesthetic bucket. All I want is hand-stitched linen garments with hand-embroidered details... and also holographic glitter spandex............ well, I can do the Earth Mother Who Does A Lot Of Party Drugs look even though literally not one of those things is true. Keep 'em guessing, I say.)
(Yes the latest Cashmerette Club pattern is out btw and it is a knit party dress with draped details and I am going to make it out of holographic glitter spandex why do you ask)
(yes cashmerette is why i am so spoiled and kicking up such a fuss about having! to alter! a pattern! why, don't you know that I am the sample size??!! yes i am basically cashmerette's sample size and it is an incredible luxury to just feel so fucking normal and i wish everyone could have that just a little bit in their lives. I Am The Typical Shape and I make their middle size with basically no adjustments every time and never have to fix anything. It's incredible. It's a fluke. I wish everyone that kind of luck. but no that is not how sewing or fashion work, not really, everyone has to alter a pattern sometimes, because there actually is no such thing as a "typical" body, everyone's got a proportion or two that's unique somewhere.)
So anyway. We'll see how well i stick to this plan. Yes I am fretting about unrelated things that's why I'm writing this instead of trying to do anything, LOL.

Capsule Wardrobe Operating Plan
This is the current operating plan for my capsule wardrobe project that I will be starting in 2023, but will likely carry into 2024 and possibly beyond. The operating plan includes the colors I will be using in my wardrobe, as well as the garments I intend to make. Some of the garments are fully planned out down to the fabric and pattern I will be using, while others still have some decisions that need to be made. However, this is the generally finalized list of garments that I will be working from and crossing off as I go. Additionally, because I am also a historical costumer who frequently incorporates garments from my historical costuming into my regular wardrobe, I'm giving myself the freedom to let a historical costuming piece satisfy a capsule wardrobe requirement if I so choose. And with that, let the sewing begin!
Colors
The colors are based both off of what is already prominent in my current wardrobe, and the colors that work best for my warm autumn coloring.
Neutrals:
Brown - particularly warm browns that vary from light to dark; coffee, cognac, camel
Cream - warm off-whites that go well with the warm browns
Colors:
Green - again, warm greens with mid to rich saturation; nothing too light or pastel, nothing cool or “minty"; fern, olive, forest, etc.
Orange - earthy to vibrant; no neon and again no pastels; terracotta, rust, true orange
Red - anything from scarlet to burgundy; use carefully so as not to contrast too much with green
Garments
These are broken down into different garment categories. While several garments are fully finalized, others are subject to some change and will be updated accordingly
Foundation Garments:
One "every day" corset - will use 1860s corset pattern from RedThreaded; have fabric for
One to two additional petticoats - white cotton, possibly one silk for winter
Several linen shifts
Dresses:
Cold weather dresses
Red wool dress - full skirt, large bishop sleeves, long cuff with buttons, v-cut bodice; have fabric for
Dark green wool pinafore - square neck, bodice with buttons on both sides, moderately fully skirt; have fabric for
Brown wool pinafore - style uncertain; have fabric for
Warm weather dresses
Linen wrap dress - will likely use the HubaDing wrap dress pattern from etsy, color unknown
Green linen dress - possibly a more muted green such as olive or a warmer moss, maybe sleeveless
Blouses
One long-sleeved linen blouse appropriate for warm weather - something with big, floating sleeves, color tbd
One short-sleeved linen blouse appropriate for warm weather - possibly self-draft a milkmaid blouse style top, color tbd
Brown silk blouse - a rich, warm brown; probably a crepe or a charmeuse; use the 1930s blouse with a pussy bow tie from Etsy
Cream silk blouse - possibly the Vampire blouse pattern from The Closet Historian or 1930s pussy bow blouse
Mossy green silk blouse - TCH Vampire blouse or 1930s blouse with pussy bow
Skirts
Brown corduroy skirt - more structured like a pencil skirt/A-line
Brown wool skirt - Edith Skirt pattern; have fabric for
Green wool skirt - 1890s walking skirt; have fabric for
Orange linen skirt - likely an earthy terracotta color; similar to the skirts with buttons down the front and a flounce at the bottom possibly with a belt tie
Brown linen(?) skirt - A warm, rich brown; maybe the Edith Skirt pattern again; this is the least thought out, probably something more structured that would be suitable for warmer weather
Misc.
A suit - most likely in a suiting wool, maybe brown or green; something vintage-inspired (30s, 40s, or 50s) but suitable for modern wear
A fancy dress for fancy occasions - in a silk; color and style tbd

Meeting The Parents
“Nath! You should have actually kissed my sister!” Sam blurted out as she ran back into the room in her regular clothes. “Sam!” Alana nervously shot as she walked out of the changing room while putting the finishing touches onto her casual look. Nathaniel stood still, shocked, and blushed. “I...” He started, only to fall silent. “Castiel would have done it!” Sam sneered. “Shut up!” Castiel called. “Sam, let’s go. Mom, Nate and Agatha are waiting.” Alana sighed. “Ah yes, time for them to dote on how you could easily go into Nate’s industry!” Sam remarked as she and Kentin walked out of the theater room.
The students and parents gathered in the cafeteria, which had been made to look more formal. The Culinary Arts club had spent their prep time planning out fancy snacks for everyone to enjoy while they socialize. “Melody! You were absolutely wonderful! My beautiful sweet Briar Rose! And Sammy! My magnificent Maleficent!” Lynne cheered as Sam and Alana walked up to her. Several people kept looking at them curiously. “Is that Nate Films and Lynne Roster?”, “I didn’t know their kids went to this school!”, “He’s a bit of a big Sci-Fi name!”, “She’s a really good writer!” a few people chattered. “Mom! Dad! Stop making a big deal about it!”, “Alana and Sam have been going here a while!”, “Seriously! They’re popular!”, some of the students commented. It wasn’t long before Alana noticed that Kentin had disappeared. “Huh, I wonder how long it’ll be before Sam realizes he’s gone.” She thought. Principal Shermanksy walked up to Lynne and Nate. “I’m so happy that you two could come!” She beamed. “Yes, you’re lucky we did and that I didn’t pull my girls from your institution.” Lynne’s voice sounded sharp. “Oh... About that...” Principal Shermansky began. “Verity and my girls have kept me well informed on your actions since the girls started here. If Verity didn’t already have the board put a black mark on your career, I would be doing so now.” Lynne cut her off. “But...” Principal Shermansky tried to butt in. “Madam Principal, I think it would be best if you leave us alone.” Lynne smiled. “That was a little uncalled for.” Nate sighed. “It was perfectly called for. Verity shouldn’t have to step in to protect the girls from the school administrators.” Lynne replied. “Lynne, please don’t take offense to this... But, perhaps you should put Carol in her place. That would be the best thing to protect the girls.” Agatha suggested. “EXACTLY!” Sam blurted out. “Now is not the time to discuss that!” Lynne sighed. “It never is...” Alana muttered. “Alana! Sam!” Alexy called as he dragged a man and a woman behind him. Armin followed not far behind. “I want you guys to meet our parents!” Alexy cheered. He turned to his parents. “Mom, Dad, this is Alana, her sister Sam, and their parents, Lynne and Nate!” He mused.
The man had fair skin, short blonde hair, a short blonde beard and green eyes. He wore a red, long sleeved, V-neck, shirt that had an “E” symbol on the chest, and grey pants. The woman had sandy skin, long curly black hair, and light green eyes. She wore a orange t-shirt beneath a light orange sleeveless blouse, grey thigh length pants, and a gold necklace. “Victoria. Charmed!” The woman smiled as she shook Lynne’s hand. “I’m Arnold.” The man beamed. “Its nice to finally meet you! Your sons have been great friends to my girls!” Lynne cheered. “Your girls are lovely! Armin never stops talking about Alana!” Victoria chuckled. “MOM!” Armin blurted out as he did his best to hide his slight blush. “Oh, Armin! Have you joined my sister’s harem?!” Sam laughed. “I DO NOT HAVE A HAREM!” Alana hissed. “Sam, stop it! Melody isn’t ready to come to terms with that yet!” Lynne chuckled. “MOTHER!” Alana choked. “We’re just joking!” Lynne smiled. She looked at Armin, Alexy and their parents. “I hate to pry... But, are Armin and Alexy adopted?” She asked. Armin looked at Sam and Alana. “You didn’t tell her?” He asked. “It has never come up.” Alana shrugged. “It really doesn’t matter, Mom... After all, you adopted me.” Sam shrugged. “I was just curious.” Lynne sighed. “Its okay. Yes, we did adopt our boys.” Victoria slightly smiled. “I see. I hope the process wasn’t too harsh. When I adopted Sam, the system almost didn’t let me bring her home. I already had Mels, and, even though my family and I could easily take care of another infant; They weren’t sure of whether or not they should entrust another child onto a new mother. However, due to her birth parents’ situation, there weren’t really any other options.” Lynne explained. “In short, my birth parents are garbage and its a good thing mom adopted me.” Sam remarked getting somewhat annoyed. “Mom, I think you might have over shared.” Alana commented. “Oh, it’s okay!” Victoria smiled.
“So? Alana? Did you watch the latest episode of Dragon Ball?” Armin asked, clearly attempting to change the subject. “Oh, yeah! Nothing like Vegeta being an ass and Bulma putting him in his place!” Alana laughed. “Hey, do you wanna play some games this weekend? We can have that Pokémon match we’ve been talking about. Are you almost done with X?” He inquired. “Oh! I’m almost ready to catch Xerneas. Can we wait on the battle until I finish it? I’d really like to go up against you when I’ve at least beaten the game... But, we could always watch one of the movies!” She suggested. “We could do that... But, which one?” He raised an eyebrow. “How about a classic? I haven’t seen any of the first three in a while.” She replied. “Let’s do 2000. While the first and third ones are great, I think the second one is the best from that set.” He smiled. “Alright! Not only my favorite legendary, but the best soundtrack!” She beamed. “Awe, are you setting up a date? I thought you liked Nathaniel!” The voice in her head piped up. “Shut up! Armin and I are just friends!” She thought back. Alana looked at her mother and tapped her on the shoulder. “Hey, can Armin come over this weekend to watch a movie?” She asked. “Awe! Are you two setting up a date?” Lynne teased. “Just answer the question mom.” Alana stated flatly. “Y-yeah... We’re just friends!” Armin huffed. “Calm down kids, I’m just teasing. Of course he can come over, if its alright with his parents.” Lynne chuckled. “It’s okay with me.” Victoria laughed. “So long as he’s home by a decent time and his homework is done, I don’t mind.” Arnold nodded.
“Alana! Sam! Over here!” Rosa called as she stood by two middle aged people. “Rosa!” Alana called as she ran up to them. “Hello Rosalaya.” Lynne smiled. “Hi Ms. Roster!” Rosa beamed. “Hello Rosalaya.” Nate beamed. “Good to see you again Mr. Films.” She smiled. The two people looked at them and smiled. “These are my parents, Crystal and Peter de Meilhan.” Rosa introduced as she motioned to the two people. Crystal was a pale woman with short white hair and light blue eyes. She wore a long white dress with a dark blue detail around her chest, a short white coat with lacy ends around the sleeves, a blue necklace, and light blue lipstick that matched her eye color. If Rosalaya hadn’t introduced Crystal as her mother, Alana would almost have assumed that she was her older sister with how youthful she looked. Peter had short brown hair, a thin brown mustache, and yellow eyes. Like his wife, he wore a white coat with a blue vest over it, and white pants. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you Miss Roster!” Crystal beamed as she and Peter shook Lynne’s hand. “Hi, Mr. and Mrs. de Meilhan!” Alana smiled. “Hello again young Miss Roster!” Peter grinned. “It’s an absolute pleasure to meet you too! Your daughter has been a complete delight! I’m so happy she and my girls are friends!” Lynne cheered. “Likewise! Sam and Alana are such bright and fun girls!” Crystal smiled. “Ms. Roster, I read your last book, The Metallic Dragon’s Departure. It seems like you’re getting ready to write your main character’s daughter, Aria, out of the story. If you don’t mind me asking, are you planning on killing her off, or having her go on her own adventures?” Peter asked. “I’m really not supposed to spoil my plans for my future projects.” Lynne politely replied. “I understand. I thoroughly enjoyed the little side story dealing with part of the battle for the planet’s fate involving Aria’s relationship with Emory. Were you trying to go for a more mature version of Romeo and Juliet?” Peter inquired. “To a certain extent, yes.” Lynne smiled. “Fascinating. The fact that you didn’t make it the core of the battle was refreshing.” Peter grinned.
While Lynne and Nate conversed with Crystal and Peter, and Rosa had Sam caught up in conversation, Alana looked around for Nathaniel. “He’s probably with his parents.” The voice in her head piped up. “I hope he’s okay...” She thought. Her mind turned to the moment when he was supposed to kiss her in the play and her nerves instantly caught fire. “I wish he had kissed me...” She thought. Several minutes passed before Rosa looked at her, smiled, and got closer to her. “He’s over there.” Rosa whispered as she discreetly pointed in the direction of a group of people. “How did you know?” Alana quietly asked. “I saw you looking around.” Rosa smirked. “Oh...” Alana blushed. “I was actually hoping he’d kiss you... It seemed like he kind of wanted to.” Rosa quietly chuckled. “I don’t know about that... He and I haven’t talked about anything like that... It seems like he’s more focused on his grades and position...” Alana muttered. “I’m sure you two will talk things over, eventually.” Rosa assured. “You think so?” Alana quietly asked. “I know so.” Rosa cheered. “Awe! Mels! Are you looking at Nathaniel?” Lynne sweetly inquired. “Uh...” Alana began. “Yeah, she is.” Sam chuckled. “I think its sweet. You two are so close!” Lynne cooed.
Nathaniel stood by the woman that Alana had seen Amber with in the park, a middle aged man, and Amber while she complained about not getting to be the princess. The man had short dark brown hair that was pushed back, a well groomed short beard, dark brown eyes, and fair skin. He wore a black suit, dark gray dress shirt, and a dark blue tie. Alana could hear Amber’s whines clearly through the crowd. “That role was rightfully MINE! That WRETCH took it from me!” Amber called as she pointed at Alana. “You lured me into the basement and locked me in there!” Alana called back. When she looked at his parents, a feeling of dread came over her as her mind instantly turned to everything she had heard about Nathaniel’s father and the bruises that she had seen on his back. “Is that the infamous Amber?” Lynne asked. “The school bully?” Nate asked. “I wouldn’t call her a “bully” Nate... Amber thinks she’s the “Queen Bee”. Even though she’s, obviously, just grasping at power that will never be hers!” Sam scoffed. “Much like certain members of the aristocracy that we know....” Lynne rolled her eyes. “I wouldn’t talk about them like that! There’s a reason why their status is so high in our society.” Nathaniel’s mother smirked. “That reason was because of their bloodlines amassing wealth and using selective breeding tactics to obtain power and maintain their positions.” Lynne sighed. Nathaniel looked at Alana, a combination of embarrassment, and fear in his eyes. The couple looked Lynne up and down and rolled their eyes. “I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced. Hello, I’m Lynne Roster. These are my daughters, Melody and Sam and that is my boyfriend, Nate Films.” Lynne smiled as she held out her hand for the couple to shake. “Francis Jacott. Are you from the old Roster family? The one that is “almost aristocracy”?” He asked as he politely shook her hand. “Yes. I’m the next head of the family. Instead of being born into our position like most aristocratic families, we earned it by serving the nations we hail from.” She explained. “I’m Adelaide Jacott.” The woman stated as she shook Lynne’s hand and immediately pulled her hand back. “All that history and money, but no real influence.” Francis commented as he raised his eyebrow. “Our family has never needed or wanted influence. If we had a position in the aristocracy, the amount of pressure on my girls to marry and breed to maintain said position would be extremely high. As we are now, we have the respect of the people and the Astarian royals, and my girls can be who they want to be.” Lynne smiled. “And why not try for more power?” Francis asked. Lynne looked at him, an almost pitiful smile spread across her face. “Because, power isn’t everything. In the hands of those who desire it, it often corrupts... And those who desire to wield it are often the ones who shouldn’t have it in the first place.” She explained.
Francis looked at them, then at his own family. “Position is everything in this world. Children are a reflection of their parents. My children are perfect...” He began. “And, if they’re not?” Alana asked, curiously. “There is no room for imperfection.” Francis narrowed his eyes at her and his voice became colder. Alana shot Nathaniel a quick glance and noticed that he looked even more terrified. “Well, I can tell what kind of parents you two are. Perhaps its good that your son is already a good man.” Lynne smiled. “Your daughter, however, is a whiny, little, demanding, selfish, self centered, princess!” Sam shot as she walked off. Instantly, Francis, Adelaide and Amber became furious, Nathaniel and Alana had facepalmed, and Lynne and Nate looked at her in horror. “I’m sorry... She’s headstrong.” Lynne sighed. “And this is what your brand of parenting does. Children need to be broken and molded.” Francis commented. Grave insult overcame Lynne’s face. It was easy to tell that she wanted to snap. “Mom, don’t give in to this. He’s baiting you.” Alana suggested. “I’m not. Your daughters have the potential to become proper ladies. In fact, every woman in your family has had that. Instead of doing what everyone in your position should do without question, your family has failed at entering high society. Most families would risk everything to have the opportunity that your family has. But, instead of reaching for it, multiple generations of your lineage have taken the stance of letting your children do as they please, marry for love, and not reach their full potential. Despite your “high position”, you are still considered commoners. My children will not fail like yours are destined to. They are being disciplined so that they may become more than what they are, and our family will be elevated to a higher station.” Francis sneered. Lynne looked at her daughters then back at Francis, disgusted. “Children are human beings to be nurtured, not things to be broken. Breaking them will simply kill their spirit, drive them away, and make them not only despise their parents, but be terrified of them. Perhaps if you weren’t so focused on forcing your children to live their lives in such a way that you could live vicariously through them, you wouldn’t have such a pompous, egotistical, bully for a daughter!” Lynne snapped. “And if the aristocracy was so great, why did it kill our family friend, Cosima? Why are Verity, Viktor and Severina trapped by it? Why are people trying to force our Melody and Sam to live by it’s rules when it does nothing more than harm anyone who doesn’t conform?” Agatha asked as she walked up to them. “You say that most families would risk everything for that life... When it has been our family who has risked everything to maintain our position. We got high enough to be recognized by the three countries we hail from, and even gotten recognition from the aristocracies of at least three other countries, but we are not forced to live by their rules. My daughters will never be asked, or ordered, to suffer that gilded cage by any member of our family. The fact that you are so willing to torture your own children for even a chance at having that life is disgusting! You should be ashamed of yourselves!” Lynne barked as she and Agatha lead Alana and Nate away. Alana looked back at Nathaniel, who was still in a state of utter shock and horror, and mouthed the words “I’M SO SORRY!” before turning back to her family.
“MOM!” Castiel shouted, annoyed as two middle aged people fussed over him. “Cassy! I’m just so happy to see you taking part in things like this!” The woman cooed. “Awe! Wook at widdle Cassy!” Sam teased as she walked up to them. “Shut up Sam.” Castiel rolled his eyes. “Please don’t cause any more trouble.” Alana begged as she followed her sister. “Oh, come on! Nathaniel’s parents are stuffy! They had to be put in their place!” Sam snapped back. "And mom! You really didn’t need to stoop to their level!” Alana scolded. “She’s not wrong.” Nate smirked. “They started it!” Agatha huffed. “Hey Alana.” Castiel grinned. “So, this is the infamous Alana?” Castiel’s mom inquired. She was a slightly youthful woman with cream colored skin, red eyes, and brown wavy hair with red dyed tips. Her outfit screamed “stewardess” and consisted of a buttoned white shirt with short sleeves that was tucked into a buttoned dark blue skirt, black leggings and a simple gold necklace. The man standing with her had pale skin, short black hair and black eyes. He wore a white buttoned shirt with a black tie, and jeans with a brown belt. “Alana, Sam, these are my parents.” Castiel sighed. “Valerie Veilmont, and this is my husband Jean-Louis. Its nice to meet you all.” Valerie smiled. “I’m Alana Roster, and this is my sister Sam, my aunt Agatha, my mom Lynne and my step-father, Nate.” Alana introduce as she shook Valerie’s and Jean-Louis’ hands. “Cass, if you had been the prince, you would have done what Nathaniel was too spineless to do and actually kissed my sister!” Sam laughed. “Shut up Sam!” Alana shot. “Seriously, shut the hell up!” Castiel spat. “Please, ignore Sam...” Lynne sighed. “It’s alright. I’m just happy we get to meet more of our son’s friends.” Jean-Louise grinned. “Hey, why haven’t you told me about them?” Alana quietly asked Castiel. “I got emancipated from them for a reason.” He muttered back. “You only ever told me that they were never around.” She stated. “Its because our jobs keep us away. My husband is a pilot and I’m a flight attendant.” Valerie clarified. “Oh, that must be such a lonely life.” Lynne cooed sympathetically at Castiel. “I’m fine, I’ve got Demon.” Castiel shot.
The tension that had begun to grow started to turn into a nervous silence. “Hey, look! It’s Lysander!” Alana smiled as she pointed out Lysander and his brother talking with an elderly couple, Rosa and her parents. “Hey!” Lysander politely waved when he looked at them. “Guys! Come over here!” Rosa insisted. “Rosalaya is calling, looks like we have to cut this short!” Castiel urged as he quickly walked over to Rosa’s and Lysander’s group. “It looks like we can’t have too easy of a day!” Lynne laughed. When the two groups merged, Rosalaya made quick work of introducing everyone. The elderly couple were Leigh’s and Lysander’s parents. Josiane had light peach skin, dark green eyes, and gray hair. She wore a pink floral-printed shawl over her hair, a green long sleeved dress, and a white apron. George had greying skin, closed eyes, and short white hair. He wore a red plaid shirt, brown pants, a brown belt with suspenders, small round glasses, and a brown hat. It was easy to tell that they were farmers. “Its nice to meet you.” Alana smiled sweetly. “So? Where is your farm?” Lynne inquired. “In the North East part of the country. Around a three hour’s drive past Weathering.” Josiane explained. “Oh wow! So, not too far a drive from the French border?” Nate pondered. “Yes, we see both Astarian and French clientele.” George clarified. “That’s neat!” Lynne smiled. When the adults had gotten lost in their conversation, the kids took time to chat. “You two were great on stage!” Alana mused as she turned to Lysander and Castiel. “Thank you, Alana. But, you were the real star.” Lysander sweetly cooed. “You were alright.” Castiel blushed. “Oh please... I could have been a lot better...” Alana muttered. “No one in our class could have been a better Aurora.” Lysander mused.
Suddenly, Sam zeroed in on the one person she had been looking for since the play ended. “Where have you been?! I’ve been trying to text you this entire time!” She called as she ran up to Kentin and his parents. “Samantha! It’s so good to see you dearie!” Kentin’s mother cheered. She was a youthful woman with cream colored skin, green eyes that were hidden behind thick round glasses, and pixie cut brown hair. She wore a pink and yellow floral dress and a dark blue short sleeved undershirt. Several students could be heard muttering their shock that the woman wasn’t, in fact, Kentin’s older sister. “Miss Roster.” Kentin’s father saluted. He was a tall, muscular, man with green eyes, an anchor tattoo on his left shoulder, and blonde hair that was clearly kept in a military cut. He wore brown camouflaged cargo pants, a thick brown and silver belt, a black tank top and silver dog tags around his neck. “Always good to see you Mrs. Rogers!” Sam beamed as she hugged Kentin’s mother. She turned to his father and gave him a respectful salute. “General Rogers, sir!” she addressed. “Sorry, Sam... I was addressing my father.” Kentin bowed, apologetically. “Guy, Maddy. Its good to see you again.” Lynne politely greeted. “Lynne Roster, its always a joy to see you and your girls!” Maddy mused. “I see your Sam is as ferocious as ever.” Guy commented. “Well, we don’t all need to send our children to Military School.” Lynne shot. “He needed to grow up. And it was obvious that Military School was the only way that would happen without my constant supervision.” Guy explained. “While I do recognize that it did do a bit of good for Kentin to learn to stand up for himself, it was not the best plan of action.” Lynne stated. “Not everyone can be an almost militant matriarchy at home, Ms. Roster.” Guy huffed. “Can we not have this battle?” Sam demanded. “I agree. This is not the place for it.” Maddy nodded. “Ms. Roster, I’m sure we all know that your parenting skills aren’t perfect. Perhaps you should look at your own children before you go around criticizing anyone else’s.” Guy growled. “Mom, General Rogers, I said don’t do it...” Sam warned. “My girls are strong, independent, brilliant, kind, women whose futures are theirs for the taking. Perhaps, if you actually gave your wife some credit for raising a kind, sensitive, young man, you’d recognize that what you have deemed as “weakness” is actually “strength”.” Lynne hissed. “There is no place for that boy’s weakness in this world.” Guy narrowed his eyes. “Mom, General, I said don’t!” Sam hissed. Her warnings fell on deaf ears as the two parents continued to give each other condescending looks. “That is your downfall. You’ve embraced this “macho man” style of toxic masculinity. My father retired at least two ranks higher than you and even he knows that that mentality is absolute horseshit.” Lynne argued. “The boy needed a spine. After that girl bullied him...” Guy began. It was easy to tell that the next words out of Guy’s mouth would be “I couldn’t show my face around the Base for weeks. He was an embarrassment.”, just from the look in his eyes. Alana looked at her sister, who looked absolutely livid. Sam’s face had turned red, her fists were clenched, and a couple of veins could be lightly seen on her temple. “THAT’S ENOUGH! General Rogers, it is extremely unbecoming of you to argue with my mother like this. Keep in mind, the Roster Clan has shed blood for Ireland, Scotland and Astaria. Multiple members of our family have served in their respective militaries. Not to mention, my mother does have a point! What you perceive as Kentin’s weaknesses are actually part of his strengths. Now, I will not argue that sending him to Military School wasn’t entirely a bad idea. It did him a lot of good. However, some of your methods leave a lot to be desired. As it is, your position keeps you out of the country, on missions, most of the time. You should actually get to know your son before you pass judgment on him or how your wife has raised him.” Sam barked. She then turned to her mother. “And YOU! Mother, you have greatly insulted two sets of parents since you’ve been here. While I do agree that Nathaniel’s parents are assholes, and I don’t agree with Guy’s parenting methods, this is still not the place to do that. Not to mention, you are the next head of the Roster Family, when Oma formally steps down. I understand Mels and me acting out, we’re still in our teens. You are about to enter into your forties. There is no excuse for you! And, you know what? General Rogers is actually right. If your parenting methods were “perfect” you would have fired that bitch, Carol, years ago!” She loudly chastised, the full force of her anger resounding through the cafeteria.
The whole cafeteria looked in their direction in shock. “Is this how Lynne Roster actually is?”, “Huh, looks like she’s a bit full of herself.”, “Does she really let her kids talk like that?”, “How can Nate Films date a woman like that?” began being muttered throughout the room. Francis and Adelaide Jacott couldn’t help but snicker. “Yeah! The Roster Girls are always like that! And it’s clear Lynne Roster doesn’t care too much about her own daughters, since it was Verity Mekina who represented them the last time an incident occurred!” Amber laughed. Francis instantly stopped laughing and looked at his daughter, bewildered. “Verity Mekina? From the famous Mekina aristocratic family?” He asked. “Yeah. Verity is Sam’s and Alana’s godmother. Apparently Lynne Roster is best friends with her and was also best friends with Cosima Chevalier before she passed. Severina Mekina and Viktor Chevalier are Alana’s best friends.” Nathaniel explained. “Chevalier? And Mekina? Well, that changes everything.” Francis muttered. “How does that change everything? The Roster Clan is still not aristocracy.” Adelaide quietly inquired. “No, but there are multiple members of the Chevalier and Mekina families on Parliament...” Francis smirked. “Nathaniel? Are you close to Melody Roster?” Adelaide asked, a thin grin appearing on her face. “I am not using Alana to get you close to those other families.” Nathaniel spat. “You’ll do it if you know what’s good for you.” Francis ordered. A look of dread washed over Nathaniel’s face, then turned into rage. “Do what you want with me. I’m not using her!” He retorted as he stormed off. Francis seethed as he watched his son leave his sight. He turned to his daughter. “Amber, if you get close to Melody and get us closer to her her godmother, I’ll get you that expensive dress you’ve been asking me for for a month.” He bribed. “But, daddy... She sucks!” Amber whined. “You want us to raise in status, don’t you? It means you’ll be closer to being a debutant.” Adelaide urged. “Fine!” Amber huffed.
Alana took a step back from her mother and sister, horrified. “If this gets to Carol, she’ll take it out on me!” She muttered under her breath. Kentin heard what Alana said, quickly shot her a concerned look and watched her run off. “Samantha!” Agatha called as she ran up to them. “Oh dear... This is not going to be pretty.” Lynne sighed. “Samantha, Lynne, you were both out of line here. Sam, please don’t swear too much. Lynne, this was not the place to criticize anyone’s parenting. You should have done what you always do when talking to other adults.” Nate scolded. “We’re going home.” Lynne ordered. “No, mom. You’re going home. You now have damage control to deal with. I’m gonna stay with Kentin and Mels can handle herself.” Sam snapped. “Samantha Storm Roster, I said we’re going home.” Lynne demanded. “And I said no. YOU’RE going home! Go home! You’ve embarrassed us enough!” Sam commanded. Lynne looked at her daughter, livid. “Go Lynne. I’ll handle things here.” Agatha insisted. “Come on, Lynne. Let’s go home.” Nate insisted. “Fine! But we’re having a LONG conversation when you and Mels get home!” Lynne barked. People continued to whisper things about Lynne as Nate escorted her out of the building. Agatha took the calm moment as an opportunity to climb onto a table. “EVERYONE! I’d like to formally apologize for my older sister’s actions. Lynne is not, normally, like this. She’s very defensive of her girls... Even if her intentions lead her to hell in the process. Please, do not take today’s actions as a true assessment of her nature and of the nature of the Roster Clan. Our family is still as dutiful, charitable, and kind as we have been for over three centuries.” She announced. “Yeah! Right! I’d like to see what her “true nature” is after this!” Someone heckled. “Alana’s aunt is right... Lynne really isn’t always like this... I think she snapped.” Kentin sighed. “It was interesting to see Sam snap.” Castiel commented. “I didn’t know that their family had these kinds of problems.” Melody stated. “If you paid attention, you’d have known by now.” Rosa replied to Melody. “What a story!” Peggy cheered. “You are NOT making a story out of this!” Kim ordered. “I second that!” Armin agreed with Kim. “Their mom is, usually, very nice.” Lysander added. “She looked stressed.” Alexy observed.
In her running, Alana passed by a door where someone could be heard yelling. “The next time I give you an order, you do it!” The voice continued as the person hit someone. “I’m not doing that to her!” Nathaniel’s voice could be heard yelling back at the person. “Is that his dad? Would his dad be reckless enough to do that here?” She thought. “Never mind that. You can take care of Nathaniel later! GET TO AN ISOLATED SPOT AND AWAY FROM ALL THOSE PEOPLE!”  The voice in her head ordered. Her legs took control and lead her to the staircase. When her legs finally stopped, she sat on the stair and started to catch her breath. “Mom... Why did you do this? Carol is gonna come after me for this... She’ll take me aside, call me names, tell me I’m ungrateful, and tell me that I’m the reason why mom acted like this...” She frantically thought. “Are you really sure you don’t wanna focus on the fact that Nathaniel was getting beaten by someone who was probably his father in a janitor’s closet?” The voice in her head piped up. “Nathaniel...” She thought as she did her best to think about what she had heard. However, it wasn’t very long before her mind turned back to thoughts of Carol and her wrath. “This is gonna come back to me... And she’ll wait until Verity, Agatha, or even Seraphina aren’t available to protect me... Carol is going to take it out on me....” Her mind continued to race.
After a while, she could hear someone quietly calling her name. “Hey, I was looking for you.” The person stated when they got in front of her. Alana looked up and saw Amber standing before her. “Why are you looking for me?” Alana asked. “I think its time for a truce.” Amber sneered. “Why would you want that now?” Alana inquired, annoyed as she stood up. “I think it’s time for a truce.” Amber announced. “And what could I possibly have that you’d want to make a truce with me over?” Alana asked. “Well, after your mother’s latest stunt, its probably the only way you’re gonna save face.” Amber sneered. “That’s not what I asked. My family always bounces back... I don’t need your charity for this stunt.” Alana shot. “Alright... If you agree to not get romantically involved with Castiel, I will be nicer to you.” Amber huffed. “Castiel? What the hell?” Alana blurted out, completely caught off guard. “That’s right. I’m sick of your sister always poking fun at the idea of you two being together. The idea of him choosing you is even worse. So, I want to make this deal. You don’t date Castiel, and our feud can be put on hold.” Amber assured. “Well, considering I’m not even interested in him like that, and he is just a friend... That’s an easy deal.” Alana replied as she stood up. “It’s a deal.” Amber smiled as she shook Alana’s hand. As their hands touched, Alana felt as if a bolt of lightning had struck in the stairwell. An unholy pact had been made, and Alana felt that it was worse than any of the demonic forces that her family had spent so many years teaching her to avoid.
That weekend, Alana sat in her living room talking to Armin. “Wait, why didn’t you tell me this a few days ago?” He asked, shocked. “I had to deal with the fallout of what mom and Sam did. It wasn’t pretty. Not to mention, I’ve been in panic mode the past few days!” Alana replied. “So, you think you heard Nathaniel’s dad beating him in a janitor’s closet, and then Amber offered you a truce?” He asked, trying to be sure of what he heard. “Yeah... I think their dad wants her to get closer to me so that they can get closer to my Aunt V’s family... But, maybe I can get some info... I’ve had this hunch about Nath since Sam locked me in the boys’ locker room...” She explained. “Alana... Are you sure you wanna go down this road? You know Amber is using you...” Armin asked, concerned. “What if Nathaniel is getting hurt? I can’t hear that, even in passing, and let it go unnoticed!” Alana urged. “So, you’re gonna use Amber, even though she’s using you, to get to Nathaniel and see if his dad is violently abusing him... Just because you saw localized bruises on his back, and heard his dad beating him in passing. Am I correct?” Armin asked, still shocked. “Yep... I’ve even buttered Amber up by talking to Aunt V to get her an unreleased case of designer make up.” Alana grinned. “I still can’t believe you’re doing this...” Sam sighed as she and Kentin walked into the room, and poured each other glasses of soda. “And I can’t believe you’re actually okay with me doing it.” Alana shot. “I still can’t believe your mom bitch slapped Carol when she tried going after you and Sam.” Kentin commented. “Trust me, that was a minor hint of a spine. It’ll be gone by the end of next week.” Sam sighed. Sam turned to her sister, walked over to her, crouched down, and looked deep into her eyes, concerned. “What are you going to do if you find out that your hunch is correct? Are you prepared to do what’s right, even if it hurts Nathaniel and damages your friendship?” She asked with absolute seriousness.
Alana looked down and thought for several minutes while her sister continued to solemnly stare at her. The very idea that their friendship would suffer, and possibly end, because of her plan hurt her. But, she knew that his suffering had to stop, and that if she could help in any way, it would be the right thing. “This won’t bode well for you.” The voice in her head sighed. “I know it won’t. But, I can’t sit by and do nothing. Sam and I would be a lot worse off if no one protected us. Someone has to speak up for him, and I don’t see anyone else doing it.” She thought back as she looked up. Sam’s eyes were still fixated on her. “Yes. If there is a way that this can be stopped... Even if Nathaniel hates me for a while... I am prepared to do what’s right.” Her voice broke. “Alright, fine. I support you and I won’t tell mom. She’d have a field day with this.” Sam grinned as she stood back up and rejoined Kentin. “You’ve got my support. I don’t like how you’re going through Amber to do this... But, that bitch has what ever she gets coming her way.” Kentin nodded. Armin looked concerned. “I really hope you’re wrong... But, if you’re not, I’ll support you. Nathaniel is my friend too and I don’t want him getting hurt.” He sighed. Alana stood up, walked over to the kitchen, poured her and Armin more soda, and motioned for him to join her. When Armin, Kentin, and Sam joined her at the table with their glasses, Alana held her cup out before her as if she were making a toast. “Alright guys. This stays between the four of us... At least until I have confirmed whether or not my hunch is correct. Armin, you will not tell Alexy. Even if he tortures you into submission. Sam, we’re not telling Viktor or Rini. Verity knows to keep quiet. And I mean it, if this gets to Mom, we are all in for a world of drama. Agreed?” She ordered. “Agreed.” Sam, Kentin and Armin replied in unison. “Good. Let Operation Purity Chalice commence!” Alana toasted. “Wait, Operation Purity Chalice?” Kentin asked, curiously. “Mels still has a VHS from Sailor Moon titled “The Secret Revealed”. It has the episodes that reveal the Purity Chalice, or Sailor Moon’s Holy Grail on it.” Sam explained as she toasted. “Ah! Let’s do this!” Kentin nodded as he toasted. “This is gonna be difficult... But, we can do it!” Armin cheered as he toasted.
That night, Alana sent Amber a text message. “Hey... How about a sleep over at your place next Saturday night? I can give you another part of that make up set that my aunt V’s got an advanced showcase of as a hostess gift! I think think this part has been endorsed by a member of the Danish Royal Family!” As she waited for a response, her mind went through every event that lead her to that point. The scene in the locker room, Nathaniel’s nervousness, his father’s personality, Amber’s temperament, and what she heard while running in the hallway. “You have a crush on him... If you fail, this will destroy any chance you might have had with him...” The voice in her head piped up. “I’m doing the right thing.” She thought back. “That’s what everyone thinks... Even when they’re doing the wrong thing. Do you think he will thank you when its all said and done? Do you think he will call you his savior and whisk you away on a white horse while praising your name? This isn’t one of your fantasies. This is real life. You haven’t even escaped Carol. What makes you think that you can help him escape his dad? As it is, what about your agreement with Amber? Don’t you think Castiel would want to know about that? You’re, effectively, angering two boys that you know you like, even if one is just a friend. Don’t do this to yourself.” The voice chastised. “I will explain everything to Castiel when all is said and done. And, as I’ve said multiple times today alone, I know what the risks are with Nathaniel. I don’t want to be praised or thanked for this. I just want to help him out if he needs it and be there for him. He’s my friend and I want to let him know that I’m here for him if he needs me.” She thought back. Suddenly, her phone vibrated and lit up. Amber had finally responded. The message read, “Sounds fine. I’ll send you my address and your mom can drop you off that afternoon. Just, don’t be an embarrassment like your mom and sister!” in an obvious huffed and high and mighty tone. “I promise, I won’t.” Alana replied as she turned her lamp off. She couldn’t help but mutter her thought to herself. “In one week, I will have my answers... I just hope Nathaniel will forgive me if I’m right....”

This covers Episode 22. I decided to get rid of the Scavenger Hunt and opt for more social time between students and parents. So, yes, this chapter is mostly nothing but dialogue.

Wardrobe building?
Hey hey! I just found your blog today and I love it! I haven't read a ton of posts, so this might not be in your neck of the woods, but I thought I'd ask.
I am really struggling with clothes rn (headed to college soon so I'm kindof learning to dress myself, v just being a carbon copy of my mom's style :) One of the things I love is a solid shirt and whatever cute skirt or pair of pants I have. I feel like everyone knows how to shop for solid colored t-shirts except me. Do I need a few staple bodysuits? Sometimes they seem too thin, and I do not need something that is plastered to my body. What material do I look for? What style? I am trying to build staples, but I'm not sure where to start.
THank you so much!!
Hi love! Congratulations on this next milestone in your life – so excited for you! Sure thing, I'm a fashion copywriter/editor by trade.
For bodysuits: Assuming you're seeking options to wear in replace of a regular tee/blouse (not shapewear), I would look for styles made from polyamides (natural polyamides include silk, wool, bamboo viscose, and synthetic polyamides are usually nylon) with a little bit of elastane (spandex) to ensure they flatter your unique curves/body shape. ALWAYS wash these fabrics by hand or in cold water and air dry them to ensure they don't shrink!
I suggest scoop neck/crewneck styles in long sleeve/short sleeve/tank top silhouettes for all seasons and a turtleneck option or two (long sleeve or sleeveless) for colder/transitional weather. For winter, I love this sustainable option from Boody. I also love Skims, Naked Wardrobe, Commando (pricey), and Girlfriend Collective (sustainable) for bodysuits (brands that immediately came to mind.
Silk/vegan leather options also are fun (and can work well as a faux blouse, so you don't have bunching in your pants for work/dinner out, etc.)
If you need any additional personalized style recommendations, feel free to book a one-on-one consultation with me: https://calendly.com/femmefatalevibe/dream-girl-aesthetic-personal-styling-session?back=1&month=2022-12
Hope this helps xx
