Do the Zorca have a similar vocal range to real orcas? Are they also capable of echolocation?

YES AND YES

So like in my head I have two versions of the whistle for zora. One is their way of socializing with other members of their pod, and the other is an ability zorca bards use.

Each bard has a unique singing voice (think of Freddie Mercury's range, or the high notes in Mariah Carey's "Emotion") and when people or monsters receive buffs or debuffs from hearing their songs its because a zorca hits a particular note or set of notes! THE MAGIC NOTE THE MAGIC WHISTLE ✨ that's why its important they perform, they can't just go "AH!" and suddenly you receive buffs THEY GOTTA WORK THEY GOTTA PERFORM!

And each performance is different. Not all zorcas are big and loud like Cironus is. That's HIS style because it works with his voice and personality. For example, I'm thinking of making his younger sister a bard-in-training, and she uses a lyre and prefers gentle serenading!

All zorca use echolocation but that's for navigating and hunting for food out in the ocean. Based on how powerful the echolocation of a sperm whale is, I like the idea that other zora know when they're being "clicked" at because they can feel it. Think of it as a courtesy the zorca do when passing by neighbors in the deep. Basically they're saying "Hello, don't be frightened, we're coming up on your left!"
