What is a Smart City Project and How it Can Help Individuals and Governments?
Quite often, we hear about Smart City Projects in various newspaper articles and news channels. Yet, not many of us are fully aware of the concept and purpose of these Smart City projects. In simple words, a smart city project is an urban area where data collecting is accomplished using several kinds of electronic technologies and sensors. Afterward, the same information is used for effective management of resources, tools, and services. Moreover, improving many elements like infrastructure, public services, and general sustainability helps a smart city to raise the quality of living for its citizens.
Getting Familiar with the Concept of Smart Cities
We can quote Smart City projects as a perfect amalgamation of information and communication technology. In simple words, smart city projects combine physical devices linked to the Internet of Things (IoT) network with information and communication technology (ICT). Working together, these technologies connect to people, maximize the efficiency of city operations and services, and build a more sustainable environment. That said, the principal elements of a smart city comprise:
Smart Infrastructure, smart roadways, and effective waste management systems
Smart parking, intelligent traffic control, and public transportation with real-time data help to define smart transportation.
Effective energy management combining smart grids, renewable energy sources, and energy-efficient buildings employing smart networks, renewable energy sources
E-governance platforms that support online public services and raise government transparency help to define smart government.
Telemedicine, health monitoring systems, and digital health records help to provide better healthcare
Digital libraries, smart classrooms, and online learning environments define smart education
How is it helpful for the citizens?
Enhanced Living Conditions
Projects involving smart cities can greatly improve the quality of living for the people. Smart infrastructure can, for example, guarantee reliable utility services, including water and power, therefore lowering outages. By lowering traffic congestion, smart transportation solutions help to shorten commutes and generate less pollution. Improved security and safety
Smart cities use numerous technologies to enhance security and safety. Moreover, real-time monitoring, emergency response systems, and intelligent illumination on surveillance cameras assist in lowering crime rates and guarantee quick reaction to crises. Smart streetlights, for instance, that light up upon movement can discourage criminal activity. Improved Healthcare Services
In smart cities, intelligent health campaigns can give citizens access to improved healthcare facilities. For people living in far-off locations specifically, telemedicine lets patients see doctors virtually. Health monitoring devices can also track vital indicators and notify medical professionals should an emergency strike. Knowledge Access
Smart cities simplify access to public service, transit, and community activities information for its citizens. Real-time updates on many facets made possible by mobile apps and web portals help citizens organize their daily activities. A smart transportation app might, for instance, show real-time data about bus schedules, traffic conditions, and accessible parking places. Sustainable Living
Through the best utilization of resources and waste reduction, smart city projects support sustainable living. While effective waste management systems can help to cut the volume of garbage entering landfills, smart energy management systems can lessen energy use. These projects improve the general quality of living of the population by helping to create cleaner and greener surroundings. How it Helps the Governments?
Effective Management of Resources
Projects within smart cities help governments to better control their resources. Smart networks can, for instance, balance the demand and supply of electricity, therefore lowering energy waste. Likewise, smart water management systems can track water consumption and identify leaks, therefore guaranteeing sustainable use of water resources. Improved Government Services
Data collected on smart city projects can help governments enhance public services. Traffic sensor data, for example, can help maximize traffic light timings, lowering congestion and enhancing traffic flow. Furthermore, clever waste management systems can maximize waste collecting paths, therefore lowering running costs and increasing effectiveness. Improved Decision-Making
Smart city initiatives depend much on data analytics. Governments can make wise decisions by means of data gathered from several sources. Data on air quality, for instance, might assist in shaping policies meant to lower pollution; data on energy use can direct investments in alternative energy sources. Improved responsibility and openness
Projects in smart cities sometimes incorporate e-governance systems meant to enable online public services and enhance transparency. These technologies help citizens register grievances, access government services, and offer reviews more easily. Improved governance and more public confidence in government institutions can follow from more openness and responsibility. Economical Growth
By drawing investments and generating employment, smart city initiatives can boost local economies. The construction of smart infrastructure, transportation, and energy systems can generate demand for qualified professionals and stimulate invention. Furthermore, the better quality of life and effective public services might appeal to companies and investors more than a city. Improved crisis management
Crisis and emergency management is more suited for smart cities. Early warnings concerning natural disasters are made possible by real-time data from many sensors for quick evacuation and disaster reaction. Furthermore, intelligent healthcare systems can provide fast deployment of emergency medical services in response to health emergencies. Understanding the Challenges and concerns
Although smart city programs have many advantages, they also present certain concerns and issues. Higher Cost and inv4estment
Getting started with smart city initiatives calls for large infrastructure, technological, and training budgets. Governments must make sure these expenditures offer long-term advantages and are sustainable. Security and Data Privacy
There are situations when data collecting and application in smart cities open doors for random privacy and security issues. Moreover, strong data security policies have to be followed by governments to protect people's data and stop cyberattacks. Digital Divide
Projects aimed at smart cities mostly rely on technology, which might not be available to every person. The digital divide must be addressed by governments so that every citizen may gain from projects aimed at smart cities. Also, these smart city projects call for several systems and technologies that must cooperate perfectly. Hence, we can say that the success of smart city projects depends on ensuring interoperability between several platforms. Summing it up
By enhancing the quality of life for individuals and improving government service efficiency, smart city initiatives carry the capability to transform urban living. Smart cities can offer sustainable, efficient, and citizen-friendly services by using technology in the right way. To guarantee their successful implementation and long-term advantages, however, it is imperative to solve the challenges related to smart city projects. Smart city initiatives can provide governments and people with a better future by means of proper planning and execution.

I feel like if Roman ended up killing himself , he would probably do it once he makes sure that baby jr would be alright without him. Like one last gift before breaking her heart. Leaving all his money and properties to her, as well for a college fund. Probably planning his own funeral.
I imagine him trying to be a normal dad for his daughter one last time, going shopping with her, goin to the park… then he would drop her off at school and then he would just walk towards a roadway and well… the rest is history. The news talking about Roman Roy. The Roy siblings get the word about his brother. Frank running to get Baby Jr.
I admit that I kinda like this Au, because somehow is beautiful. Roman loving Baby so much that he can’t even explain the pain that he feels without her.
Come Time TW: Suicide, Death. fic referenced
Roman scribbles out his funeral plan. It’s messy, but it’s organized on paper - complete assurance. He’s not going back. He’s going to do it. And what? He can’t leave the coffin picking to Connor.
Matching coffins. It’ll be the same as yours. He’ll be buried right next to you. It’s stupid and fucking cheesy, but your wedding song will play. He does this at the kitchen table, writing along as Bluey plays. She tried saying she was too old for it but Roman shut that down quick. But one day she’ll be older - he won’t see that, he won’t get to be a terrible father who can’t make do and move on.
Him not being here just seems better than being here alone.
Roman watches your baby draw while watching TV. Yeah, she’ll be okay.
‘Kendall. Connor. Shiv. Any necessary randos come time. All my assets go to her. This is all sorted out legally, but just to make sure."
“Daddy.”
“Mhm?”
“Draw with me, please. Thank you.”
Roman doesn’t smile, but he feels warm. Proud. Whatever she does, she’ll be fucking great at it. Roman comes over, kneels at the coffee table.
He draws shit. It’s terrible, but that only makes sense when he’s not watching the paper.
She hums something and it’s like when you used to hum something.
“Tomorrow…we’re gonna do something. All day. Sounds fun?”
“...But I have school tomorrow."
Roman smiles slightly.
"I'm your Dad, though. You can't pick school over me. It'll just be one day, goody two shoes."
"Are we buying shoes tomorrow?"
Roman smiles wider and rests his chin on his hand.
"You know, I don't think I've ever not bought you anything you've wanted."
She giggles.
"Yep!"
And in the night, for the first time in so long, for the last time, Roman sleeps through the night.
Your daughter watches her father twitch in his sleep. She turns to your photo.
"Goodnight, Mommy."
It's a whisper before she decides to go to bed.
Roman takes her to buy shoes - and she’s so fucking…she’s a freak of a child. Too kind and smart and perfect. They go from store to store, tailor to tailor and she giggles when she has to get measured. She asks why they’re not buying anything for Daddy.
“I’m gonna have so much clothes! You should buy all the clothes."
"...Okay, weirdo. Pick out a suit, come on - Daddy and Mommy didn't give you bad taste, so you know what to pick out."
Your daughter takes Roman's hand, smiling wide but shyly when attendants pass. She does pick out good suits.
"Try them on, Daddy."
Roman does because how is he going to deny her? He takes his breathing in the dressing room.
Maybe, for a moment, he thinks of going back on it seeing her sit alone on the cushioned seat, swinging her legs. Or maybe he's just remember watching you when you were both that small.
It must be the latter because Roman comes out of the dressing room wearing a suit he plans on never wearing again.
"You look so handsome!"
"Daddy's aware, honey. Want me to do a spin?"
Your daughter nods, Roman spins. It's just moments of him trying on clothes and him fixing the clips in her hair. And he spins over and over again. Suit after suit.
Your daughter squeals and smushes her face into his leg. He stares.
"Fucking what?"
It's an attendant watching. Roman kisses his daughter's head. They leave, hand in hand on a bustling street. Horns honk. Your daughter presses her cheek against her father's hand.
"You know what? One more place before the park."
She blinks and in moments, they're in such a special place. So weird and cool!
"Thrift store?"
"I know, right? Fucking odd and you know...there could be Spanish-flu aged germs in here but...experience is good."
Your daughter ahs, looking up to her father.
"...Do they have toys?"
"Yep. Maybe a stick."
"Daddy, there is no reason to buy sticks. We can find them at the park."
"Right. You are right, honey. Daddy doesn't know what he's talking about."
Roman keeps her close and brings her to the toy section.
"What?"
It's her gasping.
"Penny!"
She bends down, little hands flipping the penny over.
"Uncl-Uncle Tom says that you flip a penny on the head-side so you can give the next person good luck."
"...Uncle Tom needs to learn that you don't touch things on the ground. But you're too kind - also, that'll make sense for us. We're not in need of pennies. You'll never be in need of anything."
"...But-Ah! Daddy!"
Roman hauls her, arms under hers. She squeals and calls out for him all the way to the toy section.
He actually sits on the floor of the aisle, playing with old dolls - legs crossed. People pass. He's got his hands on cold tile reaching for more toys to play with her.
Then, it's a sunny day at the park.
"Don't go too far. I'm stalking you, eyes focused and kept. I'll push you into the dirt in a bit."
"Okay, Daddy."
She runs along. She always chooses the swing. Roman watches her and really, that's all he does. He doesn't really think.
He fiddles with his watch before he eyes get small with furrowed brows when he looks to the ground.
He rolls a flower in his hand.
"Do you remember when I use to eat flowers?"
Roman hands her the flower. Your daughter blinks hard.
"...No, Daddy. We don't eat flowers."
"No. We're not supposed to. But I'd be at the park with you and you'd just let me."
"...I don't remember that. Why would you-"
She smiles shyly.
"Daddy."
"You'd literally just let your Dad eat flowers. Right in front of you. It's shameful, honestly."
"I don't remember!"
"You're not even going to apologize?"
"There is no way you ate flowers. That's so weird! But I'll say sorry anyway even if I was just a baby cause I don't remember at all."
"Really? It was literally just like this."
Roman leans down and chomps his teeth just the petals.
"No!"
"I gotta have a snack before lunch, gimme."
"No! Daddy!"
And then they fight and she's a child screaming and he's smiling, flower and its petals falling. Roman swings her for awhile and she's already asleep by the time it's them going home.
With her in her arms and you not there, he's never been so sure of anything before. Roman doesn't call for a car to pick them up, he wants to walk the whole way there. He wants to hold her for as long as he can.
Roman hangs up all of her new clothes. He throws the bags of his on the floor. He gets the dinner set up ready.
"Why do I smell pancakes?"
God, to think he'd end up making something for himself in his lifetime - like food food. Without you helping him.
"Cause we're making pancakes. Get on your stool."
"...But it's dinner."
"Uh-uh."
"...Really??"
"Yep-yep."
Your daughter waves her hands and gets on the stool. They make pancakes. They smell great, they smell like mornings with you.
"You are like, a natural at pouring. Wonder where you got that from."
They don't taste as good as yours, but Roman lets her feed him the pancake anyway. He watches her eat, chin held by his hand and elbow heavy on the table.
They watching Finding Nemo.
"Even when I didn't know the story, I knew Marlin was gonna find Nemo."
"Really, how?"
"...Cause I wanted him to. But it's called Finding Nemo, not looking for so it just was...yeah."
Her voice goes soft and high. Roman watches her watching the movie.
She falls asleep half-way through. Roman collects the bowls of ice cream and carries her to his bed.
He doesn't sleep at all. Not one bit. He might fucking dream up something stupid, like staying and ruining this entire day. He could've dreamt day, but Roman has had so much of that.
He watches her dream whatever she's dreaming about until the sun comes up.
And there is no going back. Please don't fucking like...be mad at him. He never handled that.
"...Knock those other first-flop-graders out of the park, yeah?"
"Not flop, Daddy. Don't be mean...but okay."
Roman smiles slight, eyes unblinking. He gets her ready for school. He brushes her hair and remembers doing it when he's was at the height of her hair, but it was yours. He puts her new shoes on and lets her pick out a bracelet to wear. He looks out the window, city and city - what else has he known beside what you've shown him? Places you've chosen.
He waits by the door, hand out. She runs forward but then back like she's forgotten something.
"Bye, Mommy."
Of course, everyday. She kisses your picture on the TV stand and takes Roman's hand.
There's so much fucking traffic, the cars are going too slow in the city. He's gonna have to find a place where they fly by - all the wind he'll become steel to.
Roman wonders if the universe is being stupid by making the driver hit every red light on the way to drop her off, like more time will make him change his mind.
She'll be okay. It's not her fault that he can't change his mind. It's not a bad thing.
"Okay, honey."
"Bye, Daddy. See you later."
"...I love you."
They're outside the door, she hugs Roman's leg tight. He comes down to hug her tighter.
...If anything, she should be so proud that it only takes this one moment to almost make him change his mind.
Roman closes his eyes over her shoulder.
"I love you too."
He finally pulls away. He kisses her cheek before she walks off. He just...watches her, your perfect girl.
He walks. That's all he does, looking for a fast road. He doesn't stop until Williamsburg bridge and all pain at his legs - whatever. It's nothing. If it doesn't hit him fast enough, then he can throw himself into the sea. But Roman doesn't think it. He can't, if he's gonna think of the sea, he'll think of the time you brought him to a cold beach in Maine or brought him and her to the beach.
Roman looks to the city's worth of buildings he's left behind. Horns blare. Wind blows. You smile.
Roman doesn't take the stairs to the walking end of the bridge. He disappears over the roadway.
It's better that he never realizes he's wrong, that she will be in need of one thing. Always.

It's autumn in BJ fic, and boyfriends TK and Carlos are at the carnival 🎈🚗:
There aren’t many people in the bumper car line. To Carlos’ surprise they are offered a car each rather than one to share. The idea of buzzing around the graphite track and chasing each other is too hilarious to pass up. Carlos, who has been part of many high-speed car chases down actual roadways within his day-to-day work, is certainly more adept and elegant at handling his smart red vehicle. TK, who learned to drive only recently after leaving New York, isn’t adept so much as scrappy and enthusiastic. He zips along the track in a bright orange car like a fireball, terrorising everyone. Carlos loses their game of chicken, swerving just in time while TK air-punches and lets out a loud, “Woo!” as if he’s going to win some kind of rosette. For some reason, four teenage girls occupying two cars each decide to take TK on as an opponent. Carlos gives him the finger when he calls over: “Okay – now I’ve got some real competition!”
Carlos can’t steer his car for laughing at TK virtually being run off the road by four screaming high schoolers. A girl at the helm of a green car has impressive technique – they could use her at the APD.
The next thing TK shouts at Carlos is, “Baby, help?”
At the plea, Carlos springs into action. He completes a bumper car three-point-turn and zooms after the girls in the green car. They shriek as he makes chase and collides hard into them, simultaneously blocking the girls in the blue car from hitting TK.
“You’ve had it, Grandpa!” one of the girls cackles at him.
“Grandpa?” Carlos yelps, “I’m twenty-six! Alright–”
Triumphant, he charges towards the girls again, but it’s the exact moment their timeslot runs out and he slowly and pathetically drifts towards them at shuffle-speed – and now TK is holding his ribs, wheeze-laughing.
“It was the look–” TK hiccups and wipes his eyes as they struggle out of their cars, “The look of determination on your face and then you were so confused.” He falls against Carlos, completely losing it.

What Lurks Within, Pt. 9
Author's Note: Still not studying for that exam... anyway, enjoy the fic!
Content: When Spencer and Y/N find the unsub, they realize they're up against more than one perpetrator. The altercation leads to one team member's hospitalization, while the other is taken hostage by the unsubs. The race to get all the BAU members home safely is on, but the team will need some help from the dirty police chief if they're going to do so.
Warnings: Established relationship, physical altercation, typical BAU level violence, allusions to drugs and alcohol (bottles and paraphernalia), some blood, a head injury, and a k!dnapping
Spencer pulled the SUV into the narrowly paved path the park offered for vehicles. “Do you think we should get out or just drive through?” I asked.
Spencer brought the SUV to a stop after pulling to the edge of the narrow roadway, “Let’s get out and walk around a bit. If Phillip is here, we have to assume he’s too smart to be staying next to the road.” I nodded, reaching for the door handle.
“Wait, take this,” Spencer reached into the back seat and handed me my bullet-proof vest. I slipped it on over my head, following Spencer’s lead as he slipped into his own. After a moment, we both opened our car doors and slipped out into the chill of the evening.
Spencer walked a few steps in front of me, flashlight off but prepared in his hand. I kept a tentative hand on my holster and I swept my hand over the cool metal of my firearm. From somewhere to the right, I heard the crunching of dead leaves.
Spencer and I both froze in place. He clicked on the flashlight and shone it in the direction of the noise. A shadowy figure caught my eye. As I drew my weapon, I realized the figure before me was that of a startled doe. The animal stood as still as she could, her eyes locked on Spencer and I. As Spencer moved to lower the flashlight, the doe turned and took off into the woods. I heard Spencer let out a relieved breath as he turned forward again, cutting the flashlight, and we continued our trek deeper into the park.
After walking for another couple minutes, Spencer motioned for me to stop. I followed his lead, my firearm still in my hand. He turned to look at me, then pointed at the ground. Looking down, I noticed a distinct mixture of food wrappers and beer cans littering the grass under our feet. Though not uncommon for a public park, it was enough to take note of as we carried on our way.
Spencer turned back to me after another hundred steps or so. “It doesn’t seem like anyone’s here. I guess we can loop around this way,” he pointed towards the west, “and head back up towards the SUV.”
I shrugged, “Works for me, Spence.” He continued to lead our path. Just as we were about to turn our backs and start towards the front of the park, I noticed something in the treeline of the woods. “Spencer,” I whispered. He stopped in place, turning his body to follow the direction my eyes were pointing. He noticed it too - the small light shining from the treeline in the same woods that the doe had scampered into only minutes prior.
Spencer frowned and furrowed his brow. “Wait here,” he said. I took a quick step forward, grabbing him harshly by the arm. “Are you crazy? We’re going together.”
He bit his lip in deep thought before relenting with a weak nod of his head. He turned back towards the flickering light source which continued to draw our attention. “It almost looks like a campfire,” I whispered. He nodded from his position in front of me. We crept up on the apparent fire. When we were nearly one hundred feet away, Spencer stopped us, signaling for me to crouch down with him behind the remnants of a fallen tree.
As we crouched and tried to hold our breaths, I felt something hard under my boot. I lifted my foot and tapped Spencer on the shoulder, pointing down towards where my shoe had landed moments ago. Mixed in with the fallen leaves was a discarded syringe. Spencer raised an eyebrow, and just as he opened his mouth to speak a crackle of leaves came from the darkness behind us.
I whipped my head around to investigate the sound when I felt something grab ahold of my hair, pulling me to the ground. I heard Spencer shout something from a few feet away, and I could have sworn I heard a single gunshot ring out into the cold night.
As I tried to bring myself to stand again, I heard another crack of dead leaves and felt a sharp pain as an object collided with the back of my head. I crumpled to the ground, a foreign warm substance seeping down the back of my neck. I’m bleeding. Where’s Spencer?
I heard his voice again, calling out from a short distance away. I felt a presence standing over me. Despite the darkness and my blurred vision, I could make out Spencer’s figure above me. He leaned down, rolling me on to my back. A tearing sound ripped through the night as he removed part of his shirt sleeve to hold against the back of my head. As he leaned over me, I tried to form proper words, but nothing left my mouth.
“Hey, we’re okay,” Spencer said, though the panic in his voice seemed to denote otherwise. “Keep looking at me, you’re doing great. I called for backup. Someone should be here any minute, okay?”
I managed to groan in reply as the throbbing pain in the back of my head became stronger by the second. I did my best to maintain consciousness and focus on Spencer’s figure above me, but it was then I noticed a second figure leering over both of us in the darkness. I tried to utter a warning, but all that came out was a panicked shriek.
“What? What is it?” Spencer asked. Just as he finished his statement, the figure behind him kicked Spencer in the side, knocking him over on the ground next to me. I had to do something, and I tried to stand up, only to slip back on to the cold ground once more.
Spencer started to rise from the ground when the figure above him landed another kick on his chest and abdomen. He writhed on the ground next to me, still trying to drag himself back to a fighting position. Spencer managed to sit up and lunge at the perpetrator in front of him, grasping both of their legs and throwing them to the ground.
As Spencer tried to climb on top of our attacker, a woman’s voice rang out into the night from somewhere beside me. “What the hell am I supposed to do with you?” My blurry vision could only make out part of the girl standing above me. Her thin hair and cracked teeth did nothing to hide her resemblance to her mother.
“Mira Graydon,” I whispered, the blood from the back of my head soaking the ground beneath me now. I watched the figure walk over to where Spencer and the unnamed attacked fought for dominance on the ground.
“Phil, you’re pathetic,” I heard her say. I saw her lift something over her head and bring it down on Spencer’s back. Spencer gasped, rolling off the man who he’d tried so hard to capture - Phillip Graydon. “You’re welcome,” she murmured to Phillip, as I heard him trying to catch his breath on the ground. “Now, what should we do with her?” she used the object in her hands, presumably a baseball bat, to gesture over at my bleeding figure on the ground.
Phillip pulled himself up from his position on the ground as Spencer laid still, evidently passed out. “Just leave her, she’s bleeding out anyway.”
“Fine,” Mira said. “What about him?” she gestured the bat towards Spencer. I felt my vision starting to fade, but I swore I could hear a siren somewhere in the distance. Please move faster, please move faster.
“Put him out of his misery,” Phillip said. Mira scoffed.
“Have I taught you nothing? We’re on the run now, Phil. I think we should take him with us. He’s like collateral, we could use him to our advantage. Besides, he’s kinda cute.”
Phillip rolled his eyes. “Fine, but you have to help me drag him out of here. We’d better get going. I think somebody’s coming.” He gestured towards the front of the park where lights were beginning to appear as he leaned down to Spencer’s unconscious body, draping one of his arms over his shoulders.
It was in that moment that my vision left me completely as sounds around me began to fade even more. Before I fully lost consciousness, I could hear the sound of leaves crunching under the weight of the two Graydons dragging Spencer into the woods.
- - -
Beep… Beep… Beep…
I struggled to open my eyes, wincing as the fluorescent lights from above attacked my vision. I squeezed them shut again, instead choosing to wiggle my fingers and toes. My whole body felt like it hadn’t moved for days. Days. How long have I been here? Where is here?
Suddenly, the memories of my last moments of consciousness came flooding back to me. I forced myself to open my eyes, attempting to turn my head in order to observe the room around me: white walls, cabinets, IV drip. I looked down at my legs. Scratches from the park ground covered my legs which were bare below my knees, covered only by my hospital gown. I reached down to lift the gown up, revealing the burn on my leg from our first day in Denver. Someone had bandaged it.
As I tried to lift my head from the hospital bed, I inadvertently let out a loud groan. I shut my eyes to wince and I heard hurried footsteps approaching my room. “Hey, hey, it’s JJ. You’re all safe. Lay back.” I felt her hands gently pushing my shoulders back to the bed. I couldn’t resist her, still weak from the beating I’d taken.
I cleared my throat, though my voice still came out hoarse, “How long?” I forced my eyes open again, looking at JJ to try and read her reaction. “You’ve only been here for four hours, which is why you need to lay back and rest.” Thank God.
“Spencer,” I said next, keeping my eyes fixed on her. She didn’t respond. She looked down at my scratched legs and seemed to avoid my eyes. “JJ, Spencer?” I asked again.
She sighed. “We haven’t found him yet-” she started. I winced, not at the physical pain, but at his absence. “We’re looking. We’re close. We’re going to find him soon.”
I shook my head the most I could muster in this particular situation, arching my back off the bed and trying to force my neck to follow. JJ didn’t attempt to hold me back this time, knowing it wouldn’t be any use.
I sat up on my own, swinging my legs off the bed. I felt like my head was on fire, and every muscle begged me to lay back down. How could I when Spencer was who-knows-where?
“Where are my clothes?” I asked.
JJ shook her head, “You can’t go anywhere. Just stay there and I’ll get you some water-”
“Jennifer,” I cut her off, looking up at her with determination, “where are my clothes?” I asked through gritted teeth. It was then I noticed the IV attached to my hand and the little EKG readers strapped to my chest. I yanked them off, removing the IV needle from my hand last. Drops of blood trickled from my hand and I ripped part of the cheap hospital bed sheet to make a makeshift bandage.
JJ backed up from the bed. “I’ll get you your clothes,” she said, defeated. She turned and walked to the other side of the room, handing me my go-bag. I rifled through it for a moment, settling on a pair of sweatpants and Spencer’s CalTech sweatshirt.
“You don’t think they’ll mind if I’m underdressed, do you?” I joked bitterly. JJ rolled her eyes.
She shook her head. “You’re going to get me fired. I’m supposed to keep you here.”
“Do they really think any of you will be able to keep me here when Spencer is out there?” I asked as I gently pulled the sweatpants up my legs and over the bandage on my burnt thigh.
“I hope not,” she said, “because clearly I’m not doing a very good job.”
As I stripped off the hospital gown and pulled the sweatshirt on, I accidentally bumped the bandage on the back of my head, sending a throbbing pain through my head and neck. I groaned audibly.
“See, this is why you’re not supposed to leave,” JJ said, “you’re not in any shape to travel.”
“You’re right,” I said, discarding the hospital gown on the floor and taking my tentative first steps on the ground. Though I was a bit wobbly, I could do it, especially if I used the railing to steady myself.
“If you’re making me break you out of here, at least use this,” JJ said, bringing over a walker from the corner of the room.
“You’ve got to be kidding,” I said, scoffing at the walker. It was at that moment that I began to wobble and JJ helped balance me. She raised her eyebrows, gesturing to the walker. “Dammit. Fine.”
I stabilized myself on both sides of the walker before JJ led us down the hallway. She flashed her FBI badge at the nurse’s counter, not stopping as we proceeded, albeit at a slow pace. “I don’t think you’re supposed to do that,” I mumbled when we were out of earshot from the counter.
“I don’t think you’re supposed to be out of bed right now, but we’re all breaking rules tonight,” she retorted. I decided it was best to keep my mouth shut. When we finally made it to the main entrance of the hospital, JJ pulled her phone out of her pocket.
I watched as she pressed a few buttons and held the phone to her ear. “Yeah, Luke. I’m good to go. Pull around front.” I watched as a black SUV whipped into the carport. JJ and I walked out together, and she held the passenger car door open for me as I climbed in.
“Whoa, whoa,” said Luke, waving his hands, “what is this? She’s not supposed to go anywhere!”
JJ shot him a look as I settled myself in the passenger seat. “You think I don’t know that, Luke? But she’s not going to sit on the sidelines while Spencer is missing. If we make her, she’ll make our lives hell.” I raised my eyebrows at her before turning to Luke, offering him a look that said ‘she’s absolutely right.’ He let out a dramatic sigh as JJ climbed in the back seat.
Luke shifted the car into drive, pulling away from the hospital and out onto the street back towards the precinct. The drive was quiet as I nervously picked at my hands, thinking of Spencer and what he may be going through. I forced myself to change my train of thought as I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes.
As soon as I’d forced my tears away, Luke pulled into the precinct parking lot and brought the car to a halt in the handicapped space by the door. “So thoughtful,” I mumbled as JJ opened my car door and helped me balance against the walker.
After I was stable, the three of us slowly made our way to the door. Luke held it open as JJ followed close behind me, making sure I wouldn’t fall backwards if I got off balance. “Where’s everyone?” I asked.
“Conference room,” Luke replied. I nodded as best I could without agitating the throbbing pain in the back of my head, dragging myself towards the conference room’s closed door. JJ cut in front of me, holding the door open.
“Hey,” I heard Emily say, “I didn’t expect you back so soon. What did the doctor say about Y/N?”
JJ bit her lip, “I didn’t really get that far.” I could feel Emily’s confusion from outside the conference room, so I gently hobbled myself through the doorway.
Emily gasped. “What the hell are you doing here? You can’t even walk right!”
I lifted one hand from the walker and waved her off in dismissal. “I’m fine. Spencer needs my help more than I need my help right now. Just let me be here and let me feel like I’m contributing,” I said quietly.
Emily paused for a moment, before sighing her agreement. Matt came over from the other side of the room, helping to lower me into a chair around the conference room table next to Rossi. Rossi leaned over and patted my arm, “I always knew you were a tough cookie.”
I smiled weakly in response. “Alright, I’m ready. What do you know?” I asked.
Emily gestured to the board at the front of the conference room. “Based on the scene of where you were found in the park, we put together that there must be two unsubs, as in the two Graydon children. We haven’t quite figured out what exactly went down at the scene, if you have any insight,” she offered me the floor.
I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes in an attempt to recall what had happened when Spencer and I were in the park. “I think Mira hit me over the head with something, maybe a baseball bat,” I shrugged before continuing. “I heard something like a gunshot. I-I’m assuming Spencer shot at her, but I don’t know if he hit her or not. When Spencer came to check on me, Phillip knocked him over and they got into some sort of altercation. Spencer was able to get on top of him, but Mira knocked him unconscious with whatever she’d used to hit me.”
I opened my eyes to the team around the table. JJ winced at the story I was telling, nervously threading a strand of hair through her fingers over and over again. Emily cleared her throat, “What about their dynamic? Did one seem to be the leader?”
I nodded. “Mira was in charge, I think. Phillip wanted to kill Spencer,” I choked up a bit at the thought, taking a pause before continuing. “But Mira said they should take him alive because they could use him as collateral.”
Emily nodded, “So we know their dynamic. When it comes down to it, Phillip will do anything for his sister. Let’s remember that if we get into some sort of negotiations with them.” Heads bobbed in agreement around the table.
“Do you have any leads on where they may be holding Spencer?” I asked, hope seeping into my voice.
Emily shook her head, “All we have to go on is the geographical profile that Spencer and JJ were building the other day. Like JJ said, it’s a broad area. We have local law enforcement canvasing those seventeen neighborhoods. Hopefully something will turn up.”
I shook my head, “They've got to have a vehicle if the geographical profile is right. There's no way they could carry Spencer unnoticed for multiple blocks... and I think Chief Graydon knows where their hideout is.” Eyebrows raised among group members.
“Why do you think that?” Rossi asked.
“I talked with Graydon’s wife yesterday. She made a comment that gave me the impression he may know their whereabouts, he just won’t let her have contact with them.”
Rossi shrugged, “Could be worth a shot. He’s still here, we’ve booked him on obstructing a criminal investigation. I’ll pull him into an interrogation room and see what I can find out.”
“No-” I reached over quickly as Rossi began to rise from his chair, grabbing him by the arm. Everyone at the table was surprised at my sudden movement. Rossi lowered himself back into his chair, waiting for me to continue. I cleared my throat, removing my hand from Rossi’s arm. “I should be the one to talk to him.”
Emily shook her head before the words had even left my mouth. “No, you’re in no shape to interrogate. Not to mention that you’re way too close to this whole thing now.”
I scoffed. “Emily, we’re all too close to this thing now. There’s not a person in this room who doesn’t love Spencer and isn’t willing to break some rules to see him get back here safely.” Silence fell over the conference room. “Am I wrong?” I asked the group. JJ shook her head, and the rest of the table followed suit.
I paused before continuing. “Let Graydon see what his children have done,” I pointed at the back of my head, “I really believe I can get him to sympathize with me. Let me tell him what’s at risk if he doesn’t give them up.”
I watched Emily’s eyes flicker around the group before she settled her gaze on me once more. She sighed, running a hand through her dark hair. “Fine,” she relented, “but we’re all going to be in that observation room. If I feel that you can’t handle it, someone will be coming in to replace you.” I nodded as best I could, accepting her conditions.

And it's done! Props to @letitbehurt for the yummy prompt. I'm an absolute sucker for stoic whumpees, so I chose her prompt to write first!
CWs: Exhaustion whump, bad decisions
Whumpee didn’t feel very good.
She wavered it off, though, shooking their head and massaging their temples for a second. Whatever it was, she didn’t have time for it right now.
Their plan couldn’t just wait for another day. Their team was waiting.
Whumpee took a deep breath, and then another, and composed themselves together, as they should.
They finished getting dressed, a black cardigan and the leather boots they’ve been given, and dragged themselves to the living room.
The capitain didn’t notice them arriving. She seemed to be looking over a map, and when Whumpee got closer, they may have saw her biting her lip, but she wasn’t sure.
Whumpee saw the team members arriving and she straightened her spine and got in a proper position. That made the room spin a bit more than it should.
— Is everybody here? — Capitain said. — I’ve talked to our mole, and they said today is the day we can infiltrate. We will rehearse the plan one more time and... — She looked at her. — Whumpee? Are you hearing me?
Whumpee had lost balance for a second, and she was quick to get herself together and stand straight.
— Yes, ma’am.
Capitain didn’t send her another look, and started repassing the plan. Whumpee resisted the urge to close their eyes. Why was everything so bright today? Her head was pounding for some reason, and she desperately longed for them to get over the plan and make silence.
They tried to stay focused on Capitain’s words and on the map, but the roadlines where getting mashed together and it was being hard to focus. Well, no problem, she thought, a little frustrated. Whumpee had already decorated the map and the plan, and prepared themselves to every variable. They had spent nights in clear rehearsing everything and thinking of solutions to everything that could go wrong. That’s why they were sent here, after all.
--
Capitain finished talking and let her team give another look at the blueprints and roadways they would take, and she fought the urge to rehearse the plan just once more. They unfortunately didn’t have time for it. Yea, time, it was a precious thing. They had to get in, and then out. She bit her lip and ran her hand through her hair.
She turned to Whumpee. Yes, that’s right, she thought. Whumpee had been working with them for a few months now, and they were brilliant. She was an agent from another organization, a recently-made ally, and were sent to help them. Whumpee was strong, disciplined, smart, efficient, and now, a fundamental part of all their plans.
She was always stable and composed and... Capitain squinted her eyes. They didn’t seem to be very focused today. But that should be okay, right?
— Liberated, everybody. — She clapped her hands to get everyone’s attention. All heads turned back to her — Remember your roles and finish the preparatives. We go at dawn. — As both anxious and excited confirmations started leaving the room along with the members and Whumpee moved herself to leave as well, Capitain rose her hand. — Not you, Whumpee. I want to talk. Are you ready for tonight already?
Capitain’s eyes got a glimpse of a flinch, but she wavered it off. Whumpee wasn’t one to flinch.
— Miss? — They answered in a slightly lower voice than they usually would.
Capitain didn’t know exactly how to get the information that she wanted. She hadn’t worked with Whumpee for much time, and still hadn’t had the chance to know her, besides her brilliant usefulness, but maybe...
— Are you sure you are in condition to make this work?
— Yes, Capitain. I am. — She answered without hesitation.
Capitain crossed her arms and looked straight in her eyes. Capitain was tall and had to look down on most people, but never on Whumpee. She could easily be on the same level as them.
— You seem off. You might want to rest for a bit and eat well before...
Capitain interrupted herself when Whumpee lost balance and fell foward. Capitain rushed to catch them, shock rising inside her.
— Whumpee? Whumpee, what happened?
— I’m...It’s alright, I’m... — They said as they supported themselves on her arms to get themselves back up. They brushed their eyes. Now that she was that close, Capitain saw that she looked way more than off. She looked... exhausted.
Capitain swallowed up. Was she being affected that much? Maybe she had noticed Whumpee was skipping some nights to work, but... She didn’t think Whumpee would go that far. Shit. Capitain didn’t want to leave Whumpee here, she was a fundamental part of the operation, but if she went as she was...
They would be set up to fail.
Damn it.
— Whumpee, have you slept? Are you sick?
— I’m not sick — Whumpee defended herself.
— Have you slept?
Whumpee avoided answering, and as she turned her head away, Capitain took a decision.
This wasn’t their only chance, she reassured herself. If they went now, things would probably end up terrible. Capitain had been working on this field for almost a decade now, and she knew how to evaluate risks.
Even when she didn’t want to.
— The operation — she sighed, and walked up to a table and began scribbling a note in a letter — will be delayed.
Whumpee didn’t seem to have heard her at first, but then her expression changed, and she said:
— What? Ma’am, why? If it’s me, please know I’m alright! — They pointed to themselves — I can still play my role-
Capitain interrupted them with an abrupt hand motion.
— No. You can barely stand still. It’s not something I had taken into account... — she dreaded — But it’s not worth the risk. We can retreat and alter the plan and readjust things with our allies... — Oh that would be a pain. This operation had taken a month to get ready. If only she hadn’t relied on Whumpee that much...
They still protested a bit, but Capitain was firm and ordered them to fix their sleep schedule. Whumpee, with no choice, quit and obeyed.
Capitain sighed in frustration, and started calling her team and sending messages.
--
The sun had just started to set, and Whumpee already was in position.
She knew the plan by hand at this point, and she knew exactly which parts she could do alone, and which parts there would be no chance of doing later, not with great sacrifice.
She tsked internally. If Capitain didn’t want the plan to occur today just because she was feeling a little tired, fine, but they wouldn’t let it all go down the hill because of a mistake of her part.
It was her job after all.
So they wavered it off and massaged her temples, trying to take the pain of the bright world and loud everything around them.
She didn’t have the time for that right now.

𝐼𝓉'𝓁𝓁 𝒜𝓁𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈 𝐵𝑒 𝒴𝑜𝓊.
Johnny Cade x Fem!Reader
cw -> mentions of abuse, minor blood⚠️
Word Count -> 1.1K
Brooo poor Johnny, my pookie doesn’t deserve such negative treatment :(
“You never listen! Never, never, never! It’s all about you, it’s always about you! When is it about me? You only care when I visit you with blood on my face and tears in my eyes!” Johnny voficerated, crying out in anguish and disbelief.
“Well, if you weren’t so self centered and close-minded, maybe I’d be more willing to help you! I don’t care about what your parents told you, I don’t give two shits!” You shrieked back in response, angry tears searing your cheeks.
The argument was pointless, but all the pent up rage piling atop everything else wasn’t a smart idea, both of you knew it.
“What if I died in that fire, huh?! Would you care then? You sure as hell don’t care now, how could you possibly care then?” His voice grew soft, the bit of blood dripping from his eyebrow due to his recent beating with his parents, staining his skin.
This had your whole pile of anger dissipate to one of disbelief, shock, which looped to distrust and frustration once more. How unbelievable!
“I was the one who spent every. Single. Night. Sobbing! Because I was scared to lose you. I was worried sick about you, about what your parents would say, because they wouldn’t give two damns about you. I was the one who came every day to check in on you, whether you were unconscious or not, because I wanted to see you thrive again! I wanted to see my Johnny, the one who I care about most, alive and healthy once again. And if you think that I’m not dedicated enough to you, then you tell me what steps I should be taking next!” You cried out, eyes watery as they spewed waterfalls.
Johnny was stunned speechless, trying to think of what to say next, yet inevitably was frozen when you rushed to pull him into a tight hug. Not tight enough to hurt the burns, but tight enough for him to get what you were feeling.
Crying into Johnny’s shoulder, you could only soak up the little amount of comfort he provided you whilst you continue to speak your mind about the topic.
“Johnny, I love you so much. You have no idea how hard it was to act happy when I figured out about your situation, you don’t understand the anguish and suffering I endured mentally while you were on the hospital bed. You’re stronger than me at least, if you can survive a church fire.” You tried to joke, failing but making him smile.
Johnny’s hands gently rubbed your back to bring you some comfort.
“I didn’t know what to think. I was so worried about you, but I had to push on and that alone was like trying to push a brick wall from a roadway,” You sniffled, chuckling a bit.
“But you’re tuff, you made it out alive, did you not? Maybe you got some scars, but they’ll make a gnarly story. Maybe one for the future, if you live to see that long with all your smoking.” You hummed, listening to him chuckle a bit too.
A silence draped over the two of you, covering you both in a way that only served to bring you two closer and strengthen the bond you accidentally weared at. Sure enough, Johnny spoke a bit too.
“That hospital bed scared me. I hated the nurses, they treated me so bad as if I did somethin’ to them. The monitor scared me too, every time my heart slowed, I tried takin’ a deep breath to fix it, but it only hurt more. Sugar, I wanted to heal so fast. I wanted to be in your arms again, my only safe place.” Johnny spoke quietly.
“And when I was so far away from you for so long.. I lost that comfort. Even if you came every day, 90 percent of the time I was unconscious. I only saw you maybe 4 times.” He sighed out.
You trembled a little in his embrace, finding it difficult to maintain your composure for him due to the intensity of your emotions. He didn’t judge you however, he just simply continued rubbing your back and letting you cry onto his shoulder.
“My parents didn’t pay off the hospital bill.. Darry had to and you know that’s a shit ton of money. I dunno how to pay him back, the bill came out to be a bit over eight thousand. I’m just not feelin’ all too great recently, and ‘m sorry I’ve been takin’ it out on you. You don’t deserve that.” He hummed, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek.
Once everything settled down and you two were calm once again, you both were snuggled in bed together, hands roaming around to touch any piece of flesh or skin exposed through your pjs.
You were just cuddling, kissing occasionally and whispering little things to each other, making each other laugh and smile to heal the argument’s pain and patch up the bruised bond you both engendered accidentally.
“Did you hear? Apparently one of the Socs got beat up by Steve earlier this week! The reason was because they were loitering at the DX, so they tried to get him to leave politely but ended up taking a more violent approach. I’m surprised Steve isn’t being fired.” You chuckled, watching Johnny admire you with a soft smile on his lips.
“Yeah, Steve told me. He said he was annoyed and didn’t have the patience to handle it well,” Johnny explained, pressing a kiss to the crown of your forehead and hummed in contentment.
“Maybe the guy was just tryna piss off Steve and ended up bein’ successful. You never know.”
You could only nod and smile, covering him further with the blanket and flopping onto your back to sleep more comfortably. Johnny only cuddled a bit closer, an arm over your stomach as he began to smile too.
“Mmh.. ‘m sorry for gettin’ mad at you, sugar. Y’know I love you, right? You’re the best thing that ever happened to me? ‘Cause it’s true.” He murmured, yawning shortly afterwards and sighing out into the room.
You nodded sleepily, kissing his lips softly as a good night before you drifted off to sleep with Johnny at your side. Somehow, this sleep was nice knowing you both were on good terms.
And Johnny went to sleep with his last thought being you.

How LED Signage Is Revolutionising Outdoor Advertising
Summary LED signage is changing the face of outdoor advertising by offering brighter displays, lower running costs, better customization, and increased engagement. Businesses across sectors are now turning to digital signage solutions to stand out and connect with audiences more effectively. In this article, we explore how LED technology works, why it’s gaining popularity, and how it compares to traditional outdoor signage. We also discuss the growing demand for digital signage in Staffordshire and how local businesses can benefit from this shift.
What makes LED signage different from traditional signs?
Traditional signs rely on static graphics printed on materials like vinyl or metal. They’re effective but limited. Once printed, the design can’t be changed without replacing the entire sign. LED signage, on the other hand, uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to create dynamic content that can be updated anytime.
This technology allows businesses to show video, animations, and real-time updates. You can switch between messages, run multiple ads in rotation, or display time-sensitive offers — all from a remote device.
Why is LED signage gaining popularity?
There are a few key reasons behind the rapid rise of LED signage in outdoor advertising:
Greater visibility — LED signs are brighter and more eye-catching, even in direct sunlight.
Energy efficiency — LEDs use less power than traditional lighting, which reduces running costs.
Durability — Outdoor LED screens are built to withstand weather conditions like rain, wind, and snow.
Remote control — Content can be managed from anywhere via software, saving time and effort.
Dynamic content — Unlike static signs, LED displays can show different messages at different times of day or week.
These benefits make LED signage especially appealing to businesses that want to stay agile and competitive.
How effective is LED signage in driving engagement?
The statistics speak for themselves:
According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA), digital billboards increase brand awareness by 47% compared to static signs.
71% of people say they often look at roadside digital signage (Nielsen).
A study by Intel found that digital displays capture 400% more views than static signage.
This makes LED signage an excellent option for attracting attention in high-traffic areas — whether that’s a city centre, a retail park, or near a major roadway.
Where is LED signage being used?
How does LED signage improve ROI?
LED signage might seem expensive at first, but it pays off in the long run:
Low maintenance — LED lights last up to 100,000 hours, reducing repair and replacement costs.
Targeted messaging — Schedule your ads to run during peak hours for maximum exposure.
Multiple ads on one screen — Rotate different campaigns without printing new material.
Increased foot traffic — Better visibility and engagement often lead to more in-store visits.
These factors combine to offer a much higher return on investment compared to traditional signage.
Is LED signage environmentally friendly?
Yes. One of the lesser-known benefits of LED signage is its lower environmental impact:
LED lights consume 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs.
There’s no need to print and dispose of vinyl or paper graphics regularly.
Content updates are digital, cutting down on waste and transport emissions.
For businesses aiming to reduce their carbon footprint, LED signage is a smart choice.
What does installation and setup look like?
The process usually includes:
Site survey — A technician checks the location and measures dimensions.
Custom design — The digital display is tailored to fit the space and business needs.
Hardware setup — Technicians install the screen, wiring, and mounting equipment.
Software setup — Content management systems (CMS) are installed for easy control.
Training — Businesses learn how to update and schedule their content.
The process is quick and minimally disruptive. Once installed, updates are as easy as sending an email or using a phone app.
What should businesses consider before switching to LED signage?
Before investing in LED signage, think about:
Location — Is the sign in a spot with high visibility and foot traffic?
Size — Make sure it’s large enough to be seen from the intended viewing distance.
Content strategy — Plan your messages to maximise the value of dynamic content.
Compliance — Check local council rules about digital advertising screens.
Budget — Consider long-term cost savings, not just initial setup fees.
Working with an experienced signage provider ensures these points are addressed upfront.
What’s the future of outdoor advertising?
The shift to digital is accelerating. A report from MarketsandMarkets predicts the global digital signage market will grow from $20.8 billion in 2023 to $29.6 billion by 2027. LED technology will be a major driver of that growth.
We’re also seeing trends like:
Interactive signage — Touchscreens and motion sensors to boost engagement.
Real-time data — Displaying weather, news, or social media feeds.
AI integration — Personalised ads based on audience demographics or location.
Outdoor advertising is no longer about putting up a sign and hoping for the best. It’s becoming smarter, more responsive, and more powerful.
Final thoughts
LED signage is transforming how businesses approach outdoor advertising. It offers dynamic content, better visibility, lower long-term costs, and a higher return on investment. For businesses in Staffordshire looking to stay ahead, digital signage Staffordshire is more than just a trend — it’s a strategic advantage.
If you’re ready to upgrade your signage, Hardy Signs in Staffordshire (DE14 1LS) has the experience, technology, and customer-first approach to help you make a lasting impression.

Continued from (x):
The bright light of the morning had brought no reprieve from the nightmare that had occurred during the night - smoke still spiraled up into the sky from Insomnia. Airships buzzing through the air, zipping between bases and blockades sprung up on the main roadways.
And still no sign of Nyx. But he could look after himself, right? He was a glaive and he was too fucking cocky and smart for his own good, so he'd be fine. Other's weren't so lucky.
They'd been ferrying displaced Insomnians from havens to outposts all morning and there seemed to be no end to the flood of refugees. Spotting two figures who shambled through the brush of Leide, Selena thumped her fist on the cab of the truck, yelling for Jacoby to slow the truck to a stop.
Jumping down from the bed of the truck when it rolled to a stop, Selena yelled out at the two battle-weary souls, her eyes darting between what looked like a glaive uniform and a city guard uniform. Reaching out when the taller guy cringed and staggered forward, Selena grabbed his elbow on reflex, not quite sure how much help she was going to be if he decided to black out - the dude was way taller than her.
"Take it easy ... you're okay. We're gonna take you to an outpost alright? We can get someone to check you over there."

Small Moves, Epic Change: NYC’s Remarkable Job Solutions

When it comes to relocating, small moves often require just as much attention as larger jobs. Maybe you’re moving a single piece of furniture, a few boxes, or even just a small office. Finding the right movers for small jobs in NYC can be crucial. Small moves, though seemingly straightforward, demand efficiency and precision. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you find the best options for small moves in New York City.
Understanding Small Moves
Small moves are unique. They don’t involve the complexity of a full household move but still need careful planning. Small moves in NYC typically include transferring items such as single pieces of furniture, minimal household goods, or small office equipment. According to recent data, over 25% of New Yorkers who move annually require services for small moves. This percentage highlights a significant market for mini moves within the city.
The good news is that the NYC moving market caters well to these smaller needs. Many local moving companies are specifically geared toward handling small moves efficiently. Transitioning to a new location doesn’t always mean dealing with a large-scale operation. Instead, finding the right movers for small jobs can make the process seamless and stress-free.
Why Choose Specialized Movers for Small Jobs?
Specialized movers for small jobs offer several advantages. First, they understand the intricacies involved in moving fewer items. They often use equipment tailored to handle small moves without compromising on care. According to industry statistics, moving companies that focus on small moves have a 15% higher satisfaction rate compared to those handling larger jobs. This is because these companies are experts in optimizing their processes for small-scale operations.
Moreover, specialized small move services are often more affordable. Data shows that small moving jobs can cost up to 30% less than traditional full-service moves. This cost efficiency is particularly valuable in a city like NYC, where expenses can quickly add up.

Many companies provide online quote systems, allowing you to easily compare prices without needing to make multiple phone calls.
Tips for a Smooth Small Move
Plan Ahead: Scheduling your move well in advance can prevent last-minute issues. Aim to book your moving company at least two weeks prior to your desired move date.

Pack Smart: Use high-quality packing materials to protect your belongings. Efficient packing also helps in reducing the time and cost of the move.
Communicate Clearly: Provide detailed information about what needs to be moved. Clear communication with your movers can prevent misunderstandings and ensure a smoother transition.
Exploring Local Moving Companies
For those seeking local movers, NYC has a broad range of options. Local moving companies often offer specialized services for small moves. Their proximity can enhance convenience. Many local movers also provide customized solutions to fit your specific needs.
Single Item Movers in NYC

Trying to remember the show and episode for a whump scene. American show where a female regular is in a lodge with male guest star. Male guest star is a baddy but he gets shoot. Female contacts back up via a smart phone or iPad and gets medical help. Ends up treating bad guy. Winter season. Episode ends on a snowy roadway. Any help?
I can only think to "Mr and Mrs Mazikeen Smith" episode 3.03 of Lucifer. The guest male character is portrayed by Chris McKenna. Let me know if it's the right whump scene ;) @friedblizzardexpert

Things Fandoms do to you
So @misstrips and I have a nice little DC/Pokemon AU thing going with a splash of Vagrant Story and today as I was suffering the heat and welding together an after burner for a smaller sized crematory I had the thought of Jason, Roy and Sydney from that cross over ending up in Genshin Land.
You see the thing is Roy grew up in the Titans. The original Titans you know, with Dicky boy. And Short Pants was a feral monster with a smile that made you forget about the blood on his knuckles and the steel in his pixie toed boots. Roy was putting his arrows through people's joints before he could *roll* a joint, and he was there for all the stupid shit a bunch of teenagers with little parental oversight and way too much hero worship for their 'mentors' got into from orgies to war crimes to alien war crime orgies. He was there right at the start when they had to actually *vote* for the worst mentor in the League, before it became Ollie's official unofficial title for all time.
And he was there when Jason became Robin and the feral Dicky grew up and mellowed out and turned all that anger into a more positive 'I'm gonna big brother so hard Bruce chews his face off' direction, because what the Bats have is complicated and messy and a bit incestious at times but Bruce *started out* trying to be Dicky's big brother. Not his father. And then he *adopted* Jason. And none of the assholes ever sat down and actually talked about any of it.
But Jason was a good kid up until the whole thing in Africa. And now he's a feral monster of a vigilante and a half decent guy the rest of the time. Still an overly dramatic theater kid like, living undeadish proof that you can beat a kid to death with a crowbar and a bomb but you can't make him give up the *drama*.
Roy is an old hand with feral Gothamites though. He's got this. Between him and Lian they've got their gun loving muscle man on something of an even keel.
But then there's Sydney.
See Dick and Jay, they're feral. Domesticated species that went off the rails and have to be treated with care and respect until they remember that warm homes and hot baths and regular meals are all good things they can have. Sydney is wild. Sydney was never domesticated. Sydney has to be shown, and convinced, and reassured over and over that living inside walls is safe, that food he didn't gather himself isn't poison, that clothes are actually a requirement for dealing with humans. That humans are worth dealing with. Sydney will probably never *be* domesticated, but in a pinch and with some hard bribery he can fake it long enough for a pokemon tournament, or a trip through town, or even one time a visit to Lian's daycare.
And humans are just smart enough to look at Roy's wicked grin and Jason's bulging muscles and decide this is trouble they don't want to bother with most days, but Sydney tends to evade direct notice. He looks like a kid. He sounds like a kid. If you don't stare into pokemon crimson eyes and realize there's something completely inhuman staring back, you might be forgiven for accepting the evidence that Sydney is a kid.
Which is why when the three of them stumble out of the sudden wormhole in the woods, onto a perfectly picturesque dirt roadway leading to a city straight out of one of Lian's story books, Jason curses and Roy sighs. Because Roy was a Titan and this isn't his first alternate dimension, and Jason's been worse places. They aren't that troubled.
Until the guy with the huge sword and his friend in the eye patch give them the usual once over, stop at Sydney staring at a glowing little roadside statue, and all the alarm bells start ringing. Because they look at Sydney the way people who haven't seen the kid 'squish' Cypher agents, but have heard the horror stories and maybe helped clean up the residues do.
And *that* makes Roy want more explosive arrows.
