The first week of filming is finished!
Tumblr media
As the title suggests, we've made it through our first week of production!
I'd like to thank all the cast and crew for coming out to help us!
During our first shooting day, we filmed a couple scenes inside Lucky Loggers Restaurant in Saco. It was a great location, that perfectly provided the local restaurant feel I was looking for. Being our first day, things were hectic, but I'm proud of the footage we were able to get. My favorite is a particular slider shot, that will heartbreakingly need to be reshot due to the crew being visible on a reflective surface. Regardless, since we've already figured out the setup, a return visit will go smoothly.
On the second day, we shot in a couple offices on campus at SMCC. The main challenge here was figuring out lighting in such small spaces. Lucky (or unluckily depending on your perspective), it was very overcast that day, so natural lighting filled out our setup.
Filmmaking can be difficult - surfaces are reflective, rooms are small, and rain can unexpectedly fall from the sky. Nevertheless, each of these setbacks provides us with valuable experience that will help us learn and better prepare for next time.

GUTS! GUTS! GUTS!
This is the first blog post for GUTS! GUTS is a graffiti and punk inspired short film set to premiere at the 2025 Maine Mayhem film festival. This project takes inspiration from movies such as Good Time, After Hours, and Repo Man to create a truly unique and surreal project.
Quick Summary:
Guts starts a graffiti project with his friend that quickly turns sour once their spot gets busted. This leads him on an day long trek with many out of the ordinary encounters. This includes an eccentric trip to a dealers apartment, a scuffle with local skaters, accidentally drugging himself with stolen LSD, and crashing a “house party”. Can Guts get back and finish the graffiti, or will his actions get in the way?
The Proof of Concept:
youtube
Who we are:
Guts is being directed by Max Noyes, and produced by Emerson Dolan and Ashton Everett. Each post will be made by one of us and signed at the bottom so you know who is posting. This is currently being posted by Max so I will write a little intro about myself.
The Director:
Hello, I'm Max. A Maine native who has been passionate about working in film since I can remember. I have been attending SMCC for two and a half years now and am just finishing up with this project. It has been an exciting past few years and lots of growth has happened in the area of filmmaking. I am very passionate about music, movies, and video games. Speaking about music...
PUNK!
This film is inspired by the punk genre and community. I have been a punk fan for a few years now and am excited to be working on an original soundtrack with my good friend and producer Sam Orlando. The soundtrack is inspired by 80's punk and hardcore mixed with some hip-hop elements. I think that this music adds a natural drive to the movie that will keep the audience on their toes.
Fundraising:
The movie is funded through crowdfunding so go check out our indiegogo! There are some sweet perks available and it helps us get closer to premiering on screen.
And with that signs off our first post. Throughout the following weeks/months there will weekly updates on the progress of the film. This will include shooting days, soundtrack work, behind the scenes, bios, and more! I just want to also thank everyone for the tremendous amount of support and I hope that you are ready for GUTS as much as I am!
Thank you - Max

A Big Thank You.
As time moves quickly and production comes closer the In Your Head team wants to shout out as well as thank Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) and Maine Mayhem for giving us the opportunity and resources to be able to share our hard work as well as take our dreams to the next level. Our team is filled with students who are aspiring filmmakers from SMCC. Us students want our stories to entertain and be seen by the people of Maine.
SMCC is allowing us to use their campus to film including spots such as the campus center library, the health simulation lab, the campus chapel and so much more. The In Your Head team appreciates this so much and we want to take care and value these places. The school allowing us to use these spaces makes filming for our team easier and more accessible as well as gives us a place to film that we are familiar with and care about. With that, thank you so much SMCC for making In Your Head come to life!
This year is the 14th annual Maine Mayhem student film festival. The Communications & New Media department here at SMCC provides students who are interested in film the opportunity to share their films on the big screen in Maine at local venues. Corey Noramn and Jimmy Crocco created this festival to show the hard work and dedication of us CNMS students put into our work. We not only want to bring our ideas and stories to life but we also want to inspire fellow students and Mainers that big things are possible. We appreciate everything the school and our professors do for us and we can't wait to see what other films come out of this year’s festival. We’re so excited to see you at the premiere so you can be introduced to the next generation of Maine’s filmmakers.

Hello everyone!
My Name is Gryphon Vorbach (She/Her)! I am so excited to be directing one of the 8 films in this years Maine Mayhem Film Festival! It means so much to me to be able to represent my community and I feel so honored to have been chosen. This story is very personal to me as a Trans person and simply as a person who also struggles with anxiety.
Shadows of Me is a short film about a Nonbinary person named Chloe struggling with anxiety and a lack of confidence represented through conversations with a darker version of themselves. Chloe has never been shown true kindness or support in their life, least of all from their unsupportive mother. This all changes though when they meet a new person, Farrah. Farrah is a lesbian woman who through her kind nature and growing love for Chloe shows them their true worth... But will this be enough to save Chloe from the shadow within.
The entire preproduction process so far has been a treat to work on! I have gathered an amazing crew, cast and locations. This week we worked on revamping our shoot schedule, as well as picking new dates for filming. Principle Photography will be taking place in March and (as of right now) is looking to be about 5 days of filming.
We have an amazing cast for this film, in fact Chloe and Farrah are being played by the wonderful Gianna Codega and Emily Rose! The two of them were actually costars in last years Mayhem so they have already proven their chemistry on screen. Chloe's Mom is being played by Kayla Newmeyer.
For locations we are going to be filming on campus, the CNMS studio as well as two local businesses! Cia Cafe and Evie's Ferry Village Watering Hole. All party's have been very gracious with our production and we can't wait to film in them!
If you are unaware of the pipline for Mayhem, in order to get your film greenlit you must go through the Preproduction class here at SMCC. Personally I really enjoyed this class. Working through making budgets, schedules, and most importantly the pitching process.
We are so excited to share our creation with you all! We will be updating this blog every week with updates on production and BTS info, so keep on the look out!

Served
Hello everyone! My name is Parker Marley, the writer/director of the our newest short film project "Served". Served is about a young man named Tanner who meets his girlfriend's parents for the first time and in an attempt to gain their approval. However, a coincidental meeting the day before threatens to up end the whole meeting.
Meet the team:
Parker Marley (Writer/Director) 25 years old and a second year student at SMCC. I have worked freelance on Television shows and a feature film as a P.A. My passion is somewhere between in front of/behind the camera.
Ben Archibald (Producer): Ben is a second year at SMCC and enjoys fast paced political dramas like the West Wing. He wants to go into writing or producing.
Dan Whitman (DP): Dan is a first year at SMCC and has a talent for cinematography. He recently came on to help us make this film as aesthetically pleasing as possible. He competed in the National Skills Competition in Georgia as the Maine Representative in digital cinema.
Next Week I'll have even more to tell you all including our cast, a proof of concept, and more!

San Marina WIP: SMCC
Don't ask me why, but I positively love building community centers. These are community lots that I always cram full of skill objects, so you're not stuck at home skilling up sims.
Tumblr media
This is just a preview of the biggest one in San Marina, the SMCC (San Marina Community Center). It's not fully decorated yet; I'm just testing it out for now. Having just installed University for the first time, I can see this being repurposed as a student union.

Navigating Through My Canadian Journey: Reflections on Building Connections and Potential Career Pathways
If there’s one thing I’ve learned this semester. It’s that networking isn’t just about collecting contacts; it’s about building real relationships.
Attending my first marketing seminar class, I was both hopeful and anxious. But after weeks of engaging with industry experts, thanks to my professor, Wendy Greenwood, following up with speakers and stepping outside my comfort zone, I am truly thankful for this experience.
What Did I Learn? Throughout this marketing seminar series, I’ve had the privilege to connect and hear from inspiring individuals who have had great stories and insights that are truly inspiring for a person who’s about to start their career in the Canadian job market.
It started with Marquis Richards, I recall him talking about the purple cow and how you should always do something extra to make yourself stand out with regards to job search or networking. Always go that extra distance. He also mentioned that he got his current job through a classmate of his during his time at George Brown College, which also made me realise that my current classmates are also my network.
I also recently remember Amanda Lee’s perspective on Paid Media that really resonated with me with regards to the importance of Keywords and Story Telling in campaign strategy ideation.
Network & Resources-
I realised early that building a robust network will be instrumental in my journey towards securing a job and foothold in the marketing industry here in Canada. Thanks to Wendy and the Marketing Seminar series, I’ve had the opportunity to listen and engage with a wide range of professionals, from early careers like Stephanie Lee and Micheal Hatswell to industry veterans like Amanda Lee and Jennifer Stoll.
These interactions have not only expanded my knowledge of various specificities in marketing but also opened doors to building great relationships with some great people. I have since actively engaged with groups on LinkedIn, such as Marketing Innovators and Digital Marketing Experts, where discussions are encouraged and resources are shared, which have enriched my understanding of the current industry trends and tactics.
I have also volunteered at industry conferences like the SMCC (Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada) conference and attended a couple of Open Houses, one of which was at Wasserman. Where I met Olivia Kramer, the Director at Wasserman who also referred me for a job at Wasserman with a personal recommendation.
I would give thanks to all the speakers who encouraged us to take a step out of our comfort zone and be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
In terms of Job-hunting resources, LinkedIn and Eluta.ca have been my been my go-to websites. Their user friendly and up to date comprehensive job listings have made navigationg the job market less daunting. Networking is playing a pivotal role in me securing a co-op placement, even though I still haven’t received an official co-op offer, I trust in the process and I also know that this is not a linear process and I am ready for the process, I am also focused on building relationships and not only ask them for referrals or job opportunities. Here are some networking tips that I’ve picked up along the way that I’d love to share with you -
Be Genuine: Authenticity goes a long way in building lasting connections.
Follow Up: Don't hesitate to reach out after networking events to maintain relationships.
Offer Value: Networking is a two-way street—be willing to offer assistance and insights to others.
Utilize LinkedIn: Update your profile regularly and engage with industry content to stay visible.
Conclusion –
Looking back on this semester, I’ve come to realize that networking is more than just exchanging LinkedIn connections, it’s about fostering meaningful relationships that can shape your career in unexpected ways.
What started as a class requirement quickly became a transformative experience that changed how I approach my professional growth. Through attending seminars and engaging with industry experts in various fields, like Data Analytics with Jeniffer Stoll, Paid Media with Amanda Lee, Customer Loyalty with Lia Grimberg and Content Marketing with Ariel Teplitsky, I have gained great knowledge and expanded my connections that will stay with me long after this course ends.
One of the biggest takeaways from this journey is that networking isn’t just about what you can gain but also about what you can contribute. Whether it’s sharing insights, offering support, or simply staying in touch, strong professional relationships are built on mutual value. The more effort you put into nurturing your network, the more opportunities will naturally come your way.
I’d also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Professor Wendy Greenwood for organizing such an insightful and engaging seminar series. Her guidance and dedication to bringing on a wide range of speakers has made this experience not only educational but also incredibly valuable for all of us looking to enter the marketing industry. The speakers, discussions, and hands-on networking opportunities she provided have been instrumental in helping me and many of my classmates build confidence in connecting with professionals.
