I’m still getting over the feels from the idea of the wholesome yet sad song for Sliver and the knight of dawn(Lilia too of course) and that made my mind think of well. Island princess AU for Sliver 😀💧(he’ll be more of an island prince but still), I’m not sure how it’ll work but Uhh please use your writer magic on this

For Barbie movies, I believe I have like 3 aus, so this would be the 4th.

The 3 musketeers au(Riddle, Vil, Azul and Silver are musketeers: one smooches the royalty, one is a successful model, one tries to make his father proud and one just wants to serve justice)

The swan lake au(Fiddle, but make it a romcom)

Mariposa/Fairytopia au(Idia sets on an adventure and our lord and savior Bibble is also there)

So this would be the 4th one :D

Lilia is a washed up sailor that lost hope of ever be found or escaping this island.

One day, he sees a ship. In hopes he could be saved, he tries to alert it, but the ship comes closer, revealing to be half sunken and with no one on board.

No one, except a small baby.

The ship remains were good for nothing, but Lilia managed to salvage some fabrics and wood to help him in his new goal: raising this baby.

So Silver grows up to be a fine man, taught by Lilia how to speak different languages, survival, combat and many more other skills. Silver also learns to communicate with animals and is just a kind person, so kind that no predator had the heart to hurt him.

Entering Kalim, exploring and finding the island.

Being curious of Silver and Lilia, he wants to take the 2 back to his palace. Silver is skeptical, but Lilia wants his son to have a bright future, one which the Palace surely can give it to him.

Also Silver's animal buddies: 2 parrots(Adeuce), one crocodile(Sebek), a wolf(jack), a (lavender)red panda(epel) and 2 predatory birds(the shroud bros, but only ortho is actively involved)

Of course, Kalim is surprised to find out that Silver could talk to animals. Others were surprised that this boy, who lived all his life on that island, was so well mannered and even knew how to write and read.

We get introduced to the Asim king and queen. The queen had a marvelous peacock(vil) who seems to be suffering of some illness.

Silver proves his worth by bringing Vil back to health.

Meanwhile, Lilia pleads his case and story to the royal couple. He was a war General from the thorn valley who wanted to know if his country was alright at least. Or if the war was over. He presented his old crest and his journal, which only proved more his credibility. His only goal now was to assure to his 'son' a good place where he could earn his keep fairly and have success, just how any parent wishes gor their child. The Asims see potential in Silver's abilities and so, they decide to hire him as an animal keeper after Lilia gets news of his country's status.

Silver didn't know about this exchange at all.

Meanwhile, he and Kalim bond together, Silver sharing his actual vast knowledge about different things. Jamil, Kalim's assistant, is always there too, gradually warming up to the idea of the 2 spending time together, Silver posed no harm to anyone.

Things tho, seem to get a bit wierd when Kalim is informed of an arranged marriage. His fiancé was Riddle, the son of the Queen from the queendom of roses.

Riddle was clearly not happy about it. While Mrs Rosehearts saw Silver as a thorn in her side of marrying her son to a rich kingdom heir.

Silver does get to bond a bit with Riddle, that being when the redhead says that he doesn't want to marry Kalim. Kalim was a great guy, but Riddle loved someone else. Silver says that maybe Riddle should follow his heart. This wasn't a matter of politics, but matter of love.

The 2 become friends too :D

Which is why when Riddle finds out of the plan of poisoning the wedding cake from his mother, he informed Silver about it, bailed him out of jail and admits that he wants to call off the engagement.

In the end, there is the happy ending for everyone. Because of the wedding being an important event, royals from all around the world gather, including the knight of dawn and queen Maleficia. So bad it was called off seconds before the ceremony :'3

It is revealed that Levan managed to reach with his diplomacy mission in time and now there wasn't anymore war. :3

Silver is very conflicted about the bio dad reveal, but Lilia encourages him to try and give him a chance. It was revealed that initially silver was sent on the sea with his mother to protect him from the horrors of war. Like it was a very reasonable motive and no one could predict that the ship would sink with Silver as the only survivor.

But still, a happy ending :D

Will bring you any trinkets he finds on the ground. That button he found under the couch? Yours. That candy wrapper that Beel forgot to throw away? Yours. Sometimes he even finds some spare cash, and he always gives it all to you! (Okay maybe he ate a coin or two in the process, but you don't need to know that)

Imagine all the energy he has now, multiply it by ten, that's him as a kid. He wants to do EVERYTHING, please, don't hang on the chandelier! Mammon, you know you're not supposed to go there! STOP TRYING TO PLAY WITH CERBERUS HE WILL EAT YOU.

Will be the second one to fall asleep when the night comes, especially if you're giving him attention at the time. Play with his hair as he falls asleep and he'll be happily sucking on his thumb while scooting closed.

LEVI:

One of the easiest ones to take care of, if you know how to. Give him some colouring books or some phone games and he'll be happy on his own.

Will get jealous if you spend too much time giving attention to the others, but listening to him talk about his game or the nice picture he was colouring, naming all of the characters and creating silly stories will for sure bring him back go a good mood.

Is mesmerized by his own fish tank. The glowing jelly fishes are enough to get him to sit in front of it all day, and he loves chatting with Henry 2.0. Just don't leave him with the fish food, he doesn't know how much to put and we don't wanna put Henry 2.0 in danger, do we?

Loves to play pretend with you, will be trying to recreate a cool scene he saw on an anime, without the balance or size necessary, so stay close! He's prone to injuring himself while he's playing because of that!

Gets overwhelmed easily when he's with too much people, so he would rather stay in his room. Loud noises and everyone around him makes him anxious.

Falls asleep in his demon form, sucking on his own tail, sometimes he mumbles something about fishies but is overall pretty quiet.

SATAN:

Will bring you books for you to read to him. You suggest some child books and fairy tales, but to your surprise he comes back holding Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None", an expectant shine on his eyes.

The only kid's book he'll allow you to read to him is "They All Saw a Cat" by Brendan Wenzel. He's always happy at the end and will beg you to read it to him again some other time.

If the other kids start fighting he's the first one to try and separate them, but it usually ends up leading to him getting involved and fitting them both in the end. Please don't let him get close to any fights!

Has a few plushies that he cuddles with when he falls asleep, but has one in specific that he takes everywhere. A purple unicorn with big blue eyes, it's not something you'd have guessed, but it's his favourite anyways.

Sometimes he stays with Levi in his room, watching the fish tank and playing pretend while making up stories. They almost never fight, and when they do, he's the first to come to you for help in how to apologize.

Sleeps hugging his plushie, on his bed, surrounded by books and random objects he found interesting, almost like a nest.

ASMO:

He likes playing pretend like you guys are princesses! Will even ask for a dress and for you to do his hair all cute and full of accessories!

Will come to you asking for a manicure and pic all the colours of the rainbow, excitedly talking about anything and everything that comes to mind, especially if it's something he saw his brothers do.

If you paint your nails to match his he'll cry from happiness, he just gets overwhelmed sometimes, much like Levi, so please give him a few minutes and a sip of water so he can calm down.

Will try and rope his brothers into playing with him, being knights, servants or princes, but they almost never do, so he's stuck playing with you.

If he gets a hold of your phone you can expect s thousand different selfies, all blurred and unfocused, of his cute little face.

Falls asleep only if you're close to him, sprawled in the bed all cute, in his demon form, with his wings fluttering lightly.

BEEL:

He's one of the easiest to manage. Of course, he's really strong for a toddler, and he's committed to chewing every single piece of furniture in the house, but he's also a really obedient sweetheart.

Give him some candy! Bake for him! Small Beel trying to help out while you make cookies for everyone, only to end up eating most of the chocolate chips and crying afterwards because he feels bad. Comfort him and always be prepared with a hidden extra batch of whatever you're making!

When he's not eating, he's either snuggling up to Belphie or helping his brothers on his antics. Will absolutely lift Asmo up so he can look at himself in the mirror to apply his princess makeup.

Very open with his feelings, expect lots of "thanks, MC! You're really nice!"'s and "Youre the best, MC!"'s. Will hug you at the most random times, nuzzling his face into your legs, a soft buzzing heard from behind him as his wings get more and more agitated.

Is almost always on his demon form, wings buzzing happily, sounding almost like a toy helicopter with how fast they move. Will try to tone it down if you ask, but sometimes when he's too excited they get out of control.

Loves watching movies with his brothers, mostly for the snacks, but also because he loves being around all of them, and having you in the middle is a really nice bonus!

BELPHIE:

He's asleep 90% of the time. And that would probably make him the easiest to take care of, if it wasn't for the fact that he falls asleep in the most random places.

Searching for Belphie around the house is almost a game to you guys at this point! Satan once found him levitating right above one of the skulls that decorate the dining room.

Is one of the clingiest ones when he's awake, demanding your attention in the most passive aggressive ways. Actively holding your hand and placing it on his hair for you to pet it.

Can always sleep through the noise of Beel's wings buzzing, no matter how loud. It's a good thing though, that his tail has a soft end that he can use to muffle the sound a bit.

Always on demon form, much like his twin. Bumping you softly with his horns when he wants something, rail swishing lazily as he holds his pillow and asks you to help him get to the attic.

Tries to help you and Beel make the food, but always falls asleep midway. It's okay, though, you always save him a plate, and he doesn't eat much anyways.

Details about Kusano's blog post for ep. 8 are under the cut (it's dated 24th May 2021). Spoilers below, including some previously-mentioned tweets from Hishida and Ishikawa.

Hishida says:

Ｆ蘭８話でテーマになったやりがい搾取っていうのは、僕らアニメ業界でも切実な問題だったりしますね。園長みたいな奴、マジでGO to Hell！ッス。

社会派監督なんでついこんな事も呟く

"F-Ran ep. 8's theme is about job satisfaction exploitation, so it's a pertinent issue for us in the anime industry. People like the childcare centre director can really GO to hell!"

"Why is the socially-aware director only now tweeting this sort of thing?"

Ishikawa says:

F蘭丸７話人工呼吸～打ち合わせで怒り憎しみ８割、キスへの興味２割結果８話で首絞められるというね、しかし、焔は自分のしらない所でキスをされ首を絞められてるという～(/´△`＼)なんという…

"F-Ran ep. 7's CPR ~ In the preparatory meeting, it was meant to be 80% hatred and 20% interest from the kiss, with the result being the strangling in ep. 8, but Homura doesn't even know he's being kissed and strangled~(/´△`＼) There's nothing special about it...

Hishida replies to this:

へーそうなんだ。知らんかった。僕はそんな細かい指示しない監督です。　#現場でも足蹴にされる監督

"Ehh...so that's how it is? I didn't know. I'm not a director which gives that kind of precise directions. #DirectorIsBeingTreatedBadlyEvenOnSite

(Some of Hishida's tweets reveal this "director is being treated badly" hashtag is a running joke of his. He's even monopolised the tag, based on a request from a fan.)

Now, on to the blog post proper:

The title of the post is こわっぱこわっぱ〜！そうだそうだ〜！な樹果回 which doesn't translate well, but こわっぱ is a derogatory term meaning "brat" or "youth". However, the important thing to note is Kowappa kowappa! is also what the leaves at the start of the episode were shouting, so it's meant to be cute and not derogatory. Therefore the translation would be something like "Juka's Episode: Kowappa kowappa~! Yeah, yeah~!"

That had to be explained because Kusano starts with こわっぱ instead of a proper greeting (highly likely to have been used in place of こんばんは, based on the similar sounds and the time the episodes air).

Kusano starts by asking how ep. 8 was and he wrote as much as he wanted. He then puts a spoiler warning.

A part:

Homura's alive.

As explained, the leaves are yelling "Kowappa kowappa!" as they revive (?) Homura. Kusano finds this cute and wants people to yell it out at a screening event (one where people are encouraged to cheer to participate).

Even in this kind of emergency situation, they still have to gather attachment...really, fairy errands are scary. Kusano notes Takara is being sketchy and knows something, but he's interested (in finding out what Takara knows).

Juka's flashback scene: We get to see the Arbor Clan's world and it's a fairytale world. Juka's father is amazingly kind, but he looks a bit like a carrot. Kusano giggled at the thought of this.

This time's person who has to be helped is Aru, who works at a childcare centre. Juka's helping with something unexpected, so Takara immediately makes a joke out of it.

Kusano admits he did the voice of the smol Juka.

In the other room is...Uruu?! To get to the point of strangling someone...what's he doing?! The audience gets a better indication of what's going on with this and then Ranmaru intervenes (literally, "saviour Ranmaru"). Kusano notes Ranmaru's ability to sense danger is amazingly high (so much so that he goes "nice!" with a thumbs-up emoji).

When the scene changes, we go to HOTEL Tsubo CLUB. That's the "tsubo" quota checked off. Kusano thinks the childcare centre director's thoughts are insane...or rather, being a host was fun. Each member of Go to Heaven voiced their favourite host.

B part:

Time to dig potatoes. Juka's the youngest, but he's good at taking care of people, huh?

Aru is working her hardest, even though she's in a black childcare centre (<- play on black company). Kusano's chest tightened (<- in an emotional sense) when he saw Aru trying her best and then there was the line 「誰のことも傷つけちゃ駄目なら、自分のことだって傷つけちゃ駄目なんだよ。」 (CR translation: "It's good to work hard to keep others safe, to make sure you never do harm.") Kusano was emotionally touched by this scene.

Then the transformation!! So, Juka! Go and help Aru! (Yeah! Yeah! Yayyyyyyyyyy!) (Again, this feeds back into why I translated the title.)

Juka's clothes melted away. Kusano notes that's a bit perverted. Juka's in a pinch and it seems like he'll be melted, but he revives himself. Kusano thought, "Isn't Juka really strong?" End with "Go to heaven!!!" and the director collapsing without much incident.

To Bar F. Uruu asks his question to Homura (*cue police light emoji and relevant sound effect*), Homura's answer shocks Uruu and Takara gets flustered. Will everything be wrapped up okay in 4 episodes...?

Later developments:

The director got dismissed from her position. Kusano thinks it's really nice that Aru's doing better, now she's gone.

Aru: 「お芋は新聞に包んで持ち帰りましょうね〜！」 (CR translation: "Now let's wrap [the potatoes] in newspaper and take them home!")...hmm? It's the newspaper with the article about the director's dismissal?! Aru did [such a daring thing]. Kusano feels as if Aru's somehow gotten a bit stronger [from that ordeal].

Juka also receives a bit of praise for being part of the Arbor Clan. He's matured a bit again. Kusano wants to protect Juka from now on as well.

Juka: 「でも、やっぱカッコよくなりたいな〜。」 (CR translation: "But...I still wish I could be cooler!") Juka's foundation (i.e. his wanting to be "cool", instead of "cute") never changes, which is also part of his appeal.

Next episode: Apathy. At last, a man who's trendy on Twitter appears?!?! Look forward to it!

Takara's comment for this post matches his previous joking: 「普段から園児の格好でもええんやで～」 ("It's okay, even if you normally look like a kindergartener~.)

Update: It turns out the hashtag may be a reference to a book called 現場で求められる声優 (roughly "Voice Actors Are Requested On Site") and going back through the hashtag's history reveals it originally lacked the も (thereby making it closer to the book name), so I changed the hashtag translation appropriately. Also added a bit of history regarding that hashtag (since the tag that asks Hishida to monopolise the tag is the first tweet to add も).

Update 2: It also turns out "arbour" is not a word meaning "tree", but it's a thing that supports trees. Google-sensei has more details. Thus, I changed "arbour" to "arbor" (no extra U) so then it does mean "tree".

Motherland: Fort Salem. Musical analysis for Raelle and Scylla

It is no secret (unless you did not know that the Original Score for MFS exists and if you didn’t, it does and you should go listen immediately) that there is a track named Raelle & Scylla on the score. If you didn’t know that, then this is more interesting. More below the cut - in case you don’t care or don’t want to be spoiled.

The track “Raelle & Scylla” is the music that plays when Raelle and Scylla take Salva for the first time in the Pilot.

In the majority of the Raelle and Scylla scenes that follow (typically ones that are Scylla emotionally conveying a message) this musical theme always plays. It is not exactly the same as the first time, but very clearly the same notes are played.

We hear it in Episode 2, when they are walking in the graveyard

Episode 3 in Memorial Hall, when Scylla tells Raelle about her parents (for real)

Just hug her already, Raelle

Twice in Episode 4. First after Raelle leaves the infirmary and Scylla is relieved she is okay.

Fuck fuck fuck I fucked up = Scylla in this moment

Second after Beltane when Scylla admits she has feelings for Raelle.

They’re the same height but let’s just play smol and tol here for a sec

And in Episode 5, when Scylla gives Raelle her gift

That’s this season SO FAR. But there’s more:

While everyone has probably guessed that next week during Salva training Raelle is going to be filled with grief over Scylla being missing, we can confirm this by turning to the Original Score. The track “Missing Salva” starts with this same thematic music, so for sure we will hear this theme at least once in Episode 6 and it will represent the heartbreak Raelle is feeling from Scylla [potentially] having been “killed”. When I first listened to the score after episode 1, this gave me chills that they so seamlessly conveyed this message with music.

Also in the score (MAJOR SPOILER) is a track called Scylla Revealed. While we probably all guessed this would happen eventually and the majority of this track is the sound of the Spree, the last few seconds are… Raelle & Scylla’s musical theme. Again, I got actual chills when I first heard this 4 weeks ago, knowing nothing about what was going to happen. Because of this, I’m guessing Raelle will witness either Scylla revealing herself with fire or her carrying out some sort of Spree order (I would love the former) as opposed to being told by Tally or Anacostia. 

I’m so excited about the depth of this show and the little details they put in. I’m going to keep track of every scene where I hear this theme and I’m guessing it will reveal some foreshadowing in hindsight after the end of the season.

EDIT:  An update following Episode 6, Up is Down

As predicted we were gifted with the beauty of “Missing Salva” this episode but this was not the only time we heard Raelle and Scylla’s Musical theme this week. In fact, we heard it three times - what appears to be a record for number of appearances in an episode.

The first time we hear it is during Salva training on base. This is actually the original Raelle & Scylla track from the original score but slightly more raw towards the beginning

*Sings* So you think you can flyyyyy

The second is extremely subtle but the theme plays when Scylla contacts Raelle, interlaced with music that conveys hope

The only time giving your S.O. a rash is sexy and appreciated

And finally, the third time is our “Missing Salva” track. Beautiful, heartbreaking, chill giving. But also; drugs are never the answer, kids. Remember, you are important, you are beautiful, don’t push away the ones who love you. They will be your wings to help you soar.

EDIT:  An update following Episode 7, Mother Mycelium

Is everyone okay after this episode? I’m pretty sure I’m still dead (no captions for these, they all caused to much pain). Another beautiful and heart breaking week - let’s go over our theme moments. This week brought us the next big track containing the theme: Scylla Revealed. Like last week, we get to hear the Theme three times even though our girls are apart; further solidifying their connection.

The first time the tune graces our ears is when Raelle is looking up at Scylla’s room. Everywhere she looks she sees (and hears) Scylla. This version is slow and depressing and makes it seem like Raelle is really starting to believe Scylla might actually be dead.

The second is during their reunion in the dungeon when Raelle finally says, “I love you”

And the third, as expected, comprised the ending of Scylla Revealed

Seeing Raelle made Scylla’s mind vulnerable and cracked her open (like an egg). All Scylla can think about now is Raelle, even after she has just been forced to reveal her most terrible secrets about herself. This pain we see here is not that Scylla’s mind betrayed the Spree, it’s that she lost Raelle in the process.

This is the last score track that contains Raylla’s theme. Perhaps we will hear Scylla Revealed again when Raelle discovers the truth? But I can guarantee this isn’t the last time we’ll hear our tune.

EDIT - An update following Episode 8, Citydrop

Raelle is reeling after discovering both that Scylla is alive but also may be a member of the Spree and it shows in their music this episode. After rewatching, I only detected their theme once, and barely. When Raelle is remembering their reunion, the theme is ever so subtly hinted at. In fact, I would argue it doesn’t even get the chance to be fully realized. 

I really think this is the only time we even remotely hear it in this episode. And even here it is not obvious at all, and I think is indicating the emergence of Raelle’s doubts about how much she truly knows about Scylla. We know by the end of the episode Raelle is really beginning to question what is real and what isn’t. But we will definitely get it again in Episode 9 as more truths and feelings are revealed.

EDIT:  An update following Episode 9, Coup

The pain is real this episode and we hear Raelle and Scylla’s theme three times, though technically two of these three are in the same scene. Specifically, when Raelle goes to see Scylla one last time in the dungeon, their theme book-ends their reunion but in two different tones.

At first, it is soft but laced with sadness. Reflecting the pain of Raelle and the sadness of Scylla for realizing Raelle may be lost to her.

But at the end, it becomes harsher and more dissonant as Scylla pleads for Raelle to know her love is real. That she chose her over everything else. They are both raw, just like their music. 

And the third time is by their tree, when Raelle admits that she is still in love with Scylla. Here is it deeper and resonates. And it lifts up just as Anacostia tells Raelle Scylla’s love is real. Just a bit at the end but just like in the first scene when their feet leave the ground after taking Salva. It’s laced with hope and Anacostia’s words fill Raelle’s heart with hope.

EDIT:  An update following Episode 10, Witchbomb 

HOLY. SHIT. Well that was an epic finale. So much happened. With Raelle and the unit being immediately deployed, and Scylla still in the Dungeon, there was no time for goodbyes for our Necro and Healer. To be honest, I was really nervous that Raelle & Scylla’s theme was completely absent from the finale. But our faith can be renewed because Raylla’s theme does indeed make a small appearance making it 10/10 episode wise this season. 

Now when Raelle pleads with Anacostia to have the military go easy on Scylla,  that she’s not all bad - I listened to that scene so many times, side by side with others and I can’t confidently say that the Raylla theme was used in any capacity. That being said, I also can’t say that it isn’t there in the bare minimum. I’m pretty sure most of the music in the scene with Anacostia, Raelle, and Tally is more closely related to the Blue Rose Friendship theme but it is possible the Raylla theme is interlaced ever so slightly while Raelle is talking to Anacostia about Scylla... but I’m not calling it completely due to lack of confidence. 

Where I am more confident in the appearance of the theme is when Anacostia sets Scylla free and tells her to hold on to the part of her that’s good. The music is bare bones minimal and only during this exact moment. It’s just the core notes that drive the theme home but they are stripped and bare and it makes complete sense because Scylla has lost so much, perhaps even lost Raelle, but what she does have left is the goodness that Raelle instilled in her. And she still has her love for Raelle. 

So Raelle and Scylla may be in limbo relationship wise, but the love is real and the part of Scylla that’s good is Raelle. otp: No matter what happens.

Omg thank you so much, and yes, please do take your time! I’ve been writing this OC for eight years so these questions are easy for me to answer, but please take your time!

Alright so today I’m gonna focus on one of the main characters in the novel that I am trying to publish, her name is Florencia Coronado Quijano and in the first novel I’m writing rn she is a seventeen-year-old first gen Mexican-American immigrant, she’s also demi-bisexual and a demigirl. Just for reference, here are some piccrews I made of her (the first one is by far the most accurate):

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)? 

Her appearance for sure. I always knew I wanted a strong main female character that defied the ‘dumb curvy blonde girl’ stereotype, and although Florencia isn’t 100% a blonde (she has natural blonde streaks on her dark brown wavy/curly hair) she is still heavily stereotyped as a Latina so I wanted to mess with that ‘angry loud Latina’ cliche. Although originally I wrote her as a white girl, (13 year old Adrián was white-washed and so were his OCs), later I realized that she is a Latina at heart and since I’m Mexican, so is she so she’s an outlet for me to express my culture as a Mexican American.

3. How did you choose their name?

Whitewashed Florencia’s name was Florence, so I just added a bit of ✨Hispanic spice✨ to it. The name in itself was just totally random, but looking back at it I think Florencia really suits her as a name, especially how she uses Flor as a nickname.

5. Is there any significance behind their hair color? 

So glad you asked, yes! So she is actually mixed, her mother was an indigenous Mexican woman, but her father is Lugh, Irish god of arts and crafts and a solar warrior god. She gets much of her prowess as a warrior from her half-blood status, which technically makes her a demigod. She takes after her mother in terms of physical appearance (brown skin, dark hair save her blonde streaks that she gets from Lugh, dark eyes), but the blonde in her hair is reminiscent of Lugh’s golden hair since he is a sun god.

7. Is there any significance behind their height? 

Uh, she’s 5’1 and I’m 5’2 but uh... short queen representation for all my fellow smol Latinx people out there???? Other than that, I’m afraid not.

9. Are they based off of you, in some way? 

Back when I wrote her no, she was not intended to be like me. But looking back at it she definitely is an idealized version of who I wanted to be as a Latinx femme. She is feminine and even androgynous sometimes but not afraid to let that define her and doesn’t let her weight (she’s plus-size and considered fat by most thin people) define her either. She can and will kick your ass in battle, has an incredible Mexicanized sense of humor, and is loyal to a fault and would happily die for any of her friends. She was everything I wanted to be back then, and even now that I know I’m a guy I still want to have her bravery, her strength, her valor, her loyalty, and her fearlessness. I think she is the positive Latina rep that I always internally craved when I thought I was a Latina (spoiler alert: I never was because I was never female, never a woman, even if I presented femme.)

11. Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation? 

Yes and no. When 13 year old Adrián wrote her she was a cishet white woman, but looking back at it she has always been inherently queer, especially with her relationship with Jin (another female OC who is a lesbian) and how she has a massive crush on her in most of the first draft of my book.

13. How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all? 

The furthest I go is in my short story Under the Same Stars that I turned in for my creative writing workshop class, and she is 13 in that story but there are flashbacks that go back to her earlier childhood.

15. What is something about your OC that can make you laugh? 

She uses Mexican slang constantly so if you’re Mexican the book is guaranteed to at the very least make you smile, and the very most make you crack up. She’s also really humorous in English too.

16. What is something about your OC that can make you cry? 

When she emigrated to the US she was sent to an ICE concentration camp and was separated from her legal guardian (her uncle who died by the time she was released) that’s the whole story in Under the Same Stars (if anyone wants to read it let me know and I’ll DM it and maybe even post it on here) and I got a B+ for the final story cause my professor may or may not have been lowkey racist but hey, I live in Texas so nothing new here :))))

I’m having a shitty, rude alter-y, crap night so I’m just going to answer all of these to distract myself and focus and to not bother anybody just making my own post and putting it under the cut btw, notice to anyone not aware: since I’m moving I won’t likely be updating anything until I’m done doing so.

1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing?  (No downplaying yourself!) 3/5? Could use more editing and description and can be weirdly paced.

2. Why do you write fanfiction? Because it’s better than focusing on pain 24/7. 

3. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works? I don’t seem to have a specific narrative voice that people recognize but I’m pretty proud of mostly organic dialogue. 

4. Are there any writers that inspire you? as a rule i never look up to anybody for inspiration but there’s some stuff in my ao3 bookmarks I fawn over.

5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of? Right now, none of them. It changes normally, anyway. If get too proud then I’d get my ass kicked by RSD if someone didn’t like it so it’s safer this way

6. What element of writing do you find comes easily? Dialogue. 

7. What element of writing do you struggle with most? Organic description, poetic language kind of stuff. I can paint a scene but I’m not so great with bring out out a feeling with description alone.

8. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write? Janus and Virgil are probably tied. They both have things I struggle with but I don’t have to go back and do much adjusting of language and tone with them. Though admittedly my Virgil is signifigantly more foul-mouthed than canon and I tend to prefer pre-AA feral asshole Virgil.

9. Which character(s) do you find most difficult to write? Patton. I write him the least, so people can probably tell. I love Patton, I really do, but it’s so hard to keep away from fanon Patton. 

10. What’s your favorite genre to write for? Angst w/ H/C obviously. Or if you’re talking about regular book genres, Fantasy. I fucking love fantasy world building.

11. Who or what do you find yourself writing about most? Trauma. I blame Daeram. As if Ayri isn’t a giant Angst Demon.

12. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about. Slopes. I’m really into it. I’ve got three one shots running right now. Patrons can read the first part of the unnamed cat remus one, there’s also a coffeeshop au tropey nonsense one like eglantine & lycoris, but Slopes is addiction angst. Mmmmm. Virgil is addicted to coke and alcohol and will listening to his friends even be in time? Who knows, especially not me, but there’s already over 30k. 

13. First fandom you ever wrote for? InuYasha. Or was it Harry Potter? Or shit, The Blue Sword? Fuck, I’ve been writing for a long time, I really have no idea.

14. What’s your favorite fandom to write for? Sanders Sides. The characters are the perfect dynamic for writing since they exist in balance of each other and the popular, easy to project on archetypes featured are incredibly fun to do basically any scenario with.

15. What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve ever written for? Weird storywise? Kingdom Hearts? I can’t even follow the plot anymore. Weird Fandomwise? Sanders Sides. Its simultainiously the fluffiest and angstiest nonsense at the same time.

16. Any guilty pleasure trope(s)? Vampires. Gay ones. Gay Vampires. I also love calm tol and angy smol.

17. A trope you’ll never, ever write for. Any tropes that normalize incredibly toxic behaviour or tropes that are inherantly ableist, but I can’t think of any.

18. Wildest fic you’ve ever written? Incorrigible continues to be complete nonsense.

19. Do you prefer canon-compliant, AUs, or something in-between? AUs. I mean closest I even have is canon-divergence other than a single short.

20. Gen fic or shippy stuff? I like it when there is gay nonsense along with a plot that is treated as more important than the relationship the most. But I like both. There’s more shippy stuff in tss so i read more shipping action by default.

21. Favorite pairing to write for? (platonic or romantic!) Anxceit/Sleepxiety, but in general, give me darksides or give me death/j

22. Do you listen to anything while you write? Almost everything I write has a special playlist I listen to to help me write it, but otherwise I listen to my Nyan playlist, an alter is picking the tunes, or a voidfam playlist. I never have music off. When my internet is down I just listen to the songs I own or Anxiety’s theme on loop.

23. Do you prefer prompts and challenges, or completely independent ideas? I’m fine with all of them. I love working with prompts but I tend to deviate. And I’ve never done a challenge since I can’t do deadlines and bad things happen bingo never sent me a card and I applied three times.

24. One-shots or multi-chaptered works? I am generally multi-chaptered stuff, but I’ve been working on a few one-shots lately that are much longer than most one shots.

25. Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them! I was originally thinking of doing some little 13-year-old Dreaming!Roman (y’know, the one with a job) shorts but it turns out I just had an alter of that little bastard and that’s why I inexplicably know more about him then I ever even considered. I still might do them after Dreaming is done. But that’s paced so slowly who knows when that might happen. Otherwise I put stuff in my notes and just do shorts of it if I’m like “oh you know what’s cool???” but since I can’t daydream maybe this question doesn’t apply to me.

26. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try? I want to do more autism stuff, and I’ve had it demanded a few times, but I’m scared of being that explict about it for some reason. Possibly because I might be, possibly because I’m scared of doing it wrong even though I’ve accidentally coded multiple characters autistic. I’m scared of explictly tagging them as such, too. 

27. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received? That I can remember off the top of my head? I’m going with one from @a-genz-with-trauma-and-kins. It really helped me out and was just so kind and literally the best christmas gift I got in 2020. 

28. How well do you handle criticism when it comes to your writing? I can handle it alright but Daeram is a little fucking pissbaby about it. Constructive criticism helps people get better, so I appreciate it. I can’t handle critism that is incomplete, though. “i just don’t get it” or “I don’t know I don’t like it” kind of things. If I can’t understand the why to fix it then things get out of control. And then I spiral and RSD for like four days minimum. If it came from an anon or a troll, too, It might not bother me for as long. Things that are just like “this is shit and you should feel bad” just make me laugh. Couldn’t even bother to read it long enough to insult me proper? I don’t care.

29. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out? I have a few times. Mostly in shorts and prompts, I think. I think they turned out okay. They’re not particularly inspired or anything.

30. Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst? Depends on my mood. Am I triggered? give me the fluff. Am I vibin? Angst. 

31. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them! Fuck, fam, no, I can’t, I have so many. I have multiple original stories and some of them have very large casts and like holy fuck. Or do you mean in Sanders Sides fandom? Um, Morgan and Thorn in PD. The lesbian and her himbo dynamic. I love them. They’re dorks. Morgan is strong person with sharp tongue and soft romantic heart and Thorn is just so kind and so dumb and so exciteable he’s like a puppy. They were just filler characters and I got attached to them. Felton even gets redemption for being an ass later in PD, like oof i never intended to include so much OC content, especially for names I just picked randomly.

Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process? an alter and I write together and I have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen, what I’m writing about, or even what year it is. I often don’t even remember what I wrote. There’s no outline. I have an idea and I pick things at random for it. There’s just notes and an evil gleam in a demon’s eye. The only reason I know more than readers is because I take a long time to edit and some of these stories have fucking alters up in my head who can tell me things. Daeram tells me nothing. The writing demon supposedly has all this knowledge but I have absolutely no clue because he does not talk to me, he just fronts and slams out 9k in a few hours or we cofront to write and I’m like “oh no she didn’t” while typing 

34. Copy and paste an excerpt you’re particularly fond of. i’m fond of the entire painful death series and I tried to find something I really liked without spoilers in stargazing and I couldn’t so here’s a random thing from incorrigble: “So, what do you do with your friends?” Patton continued on with a megawatt smile. “Grand larceny,” Virgil deadpanned and glared at Patton, who was taken aback. Remy and Andy just broke out laughing while Virgil tentatively sipped his still-too-hot-cocoa. 

35. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!  slopes my dudes slopes i have learned so much about cocaine! like wow! I thought for a minute it was going to end with MCD around 30k but it swtiched from whump to hurt/comfort and I still don’t know if it’s going to be MCD but look at that funky little coke/alcohol addict go, it’s a medical wonder he’s alive! It’s not like there’s what seems to be a little talked about interaction between alcohol and cocaine that causes a toxic chemical to build up in the liver which can result in liver failure and sudden death at basically any moment! Which is part of why it may result in MCD but this time no ghosts! maybe it’ll be h/c with whump elements or maybe it’ll be whump with h/c elements we can’t know for sure

Small Detective Asks: Pierre Lin

1. What's their name and how do they look?

Pierre Lin. (My favorite PicCrew). He is over six-feet with an athletic, muscular build. He’s of E. Asian Descent (mainly Vietnamese). He’s often well dressed but in a simple yet stylish manner. His hair though cut short is a little long up top, so it falls in his eyes (though it starts the day perfectly styled!) His expression is serious but not harsh. He’s been known to shoot smiles and fond expressions, yes even in the work place.

2. Why did they join the police?

He joined for the structure and the rules. It is funny because he does have a lowkey impulsive streak and occasionally isn’t as by the book as he first comes off (he kept his coffee cup in the autopsy room scene; what a rebel! Whatever, it was cold). But overall, he’s a bit of that boy scoutTM stereotype. 

3. How did they get the promotion to detective and what do they think about it?

I honestly cannot remember but, surprisingly, he didn’t want it.

4. Can they handle blood/gore?

Yesssss …. Ish? He’s squeamish but he’ll breathe in / out through his mouth and do what he needs to do. 

5. How are they with people?

He’s pretty good with people. As I listed on his summary/stat page, his strongest stat is his friendliness. He is also strongly a team player. I see Pierre’s approach to be very sympathetic. It’s bleeding heart but make it reserved. He wants to do the Right Thing. This is in the general sense. Specifically, in relationships, making friends -- he’s also reserved. He has teasing humor that peaks out and he tries to be easy but he’s no pushover. He prefers a peacekeeping / making diplomatic approach but if you’ve crossed a line he’s not quick to make allowances (ie, his current strain with Rebecca though they started strongly. They’re working on it.) He can be a little impatient with people who exasperate him and he CAN get exasperated (Douglas, Mason and Ava have learned this, lol. And Bobby knows this well :-|)

In short: Pierre is tender-hearted but firm. 

He has his awkward moments too but I’m going to stop rambling.

6. What's their relationship to Bobby?

7. Who is their Love Interest and why?

Copying from the last time I answered this: 

~~uwu~~ Felix~~~ Ahem. Because Felix gets under his skin in the best of ways. I wanted to do a tol vs smol. And thought it’d be funny to have someone more by the book, fumbling with F. Felix is the best thing since sliced bread in Pierre’s book. They balance each other yet are both naturally warm people who want the best for others. And each other. They are my sunshine, soft ship. It is so delightful to read. Especially, as Pierre is more – he wants to take things slowly. Even though Felix is ready to GO. The care. The respect. The affection Felix gives him? Ugh. It’s just what someone whose ex was Bobby needs. It’s what Pierre deserves. And likewise Pierre is a warm, teasing, steady presence that I feel is good for Felix. BALANCE~~~@@!!!!

I will add to this and say that they are going to kill me in book three. I just know it. I think it continuously surprises Pierre how into him Felix is. And I think it surprises him how into Felix he is, or more -- how good and just supportive and delightful it can be. (Did I mention that Bobby fucked him up?) 

8. What's their relationship with their mom like? How did it change?

They were so strong. They were close. I think he was probably her golden boy and I think he -- did his best to understand why she wasn’t there.  I think he admired that she did important shit. But finding out what it was, HOW MUCH she’d been lying / what she’d been lying about gave them a hit. I think some of it is misplaced anger and other of it is -- or maybe not so much misplaced but it’s easiest to put a lot of it on her (which isn’t fair). But a lot of it is genuinely … disappointment. Maybe she couldn’t tell him but she could’ve better prepared him. The trust is broken. But it’s slowly repairing, I think. He loves her. She’s his mom. But they didn’t end where they started -- and they’re definitely not back to that place yet. 

9. What do they think of the supernatural?

I’m trying to remember -- but he’s sort of taking it as it comes. He’s the sort to take things as presented. So he’s cautious but isn’t like …. Argh! Hateful or fearful. Really, for him, it’s like well fuck -- more people to take care of. LMAO. 

10. How well did they handle the reveal that the supernatural exists?

I honestly don’t remember. It was months ago. But I think pretty okay. He was confused. And I can see Pierre having some trepidation but I think overall he was okay, definitely some restless nights overthinking things. 

11. Do they have any tattoos/ piercings?

He has two tattoos. I haven’t decided what yet. One on his right ankle and other on his upper left arm. (Probably.)

12. What is their highest (professional) stat and why?

People/Psychology (it really jumps like a good almost 15 percent by the end of book two). Softe. I honestly would not be surprised if he took a psychology class 

13. What's their opinion of the Mayor?

He is the mayor. That is pretty much it. At the end of the day, he’ll be afforded the professionalism that the position affords him. 

14. Do they get along with Tina and Verda?

Yes. If I recall correctly, he leans a little closer to Verda - even though it was a slow start. But he’s also fond of Tina and respects her. How can one not be?

15. What do they think of Unit Bravo? How has that changed throughout the story?

As a whole? Yes. It’s definitely gotten more positive. It’s gotten warmer -- in particular to Ava. He didn’t … I don’t think Ava disliked him but she clearly wasn’t happy. But they were both fairly neutral. Mason gets on his nerves less lmao. There’s an increased fondness and definitely a better appreciation. And with time comes learning / understanding. I think he’s a lot more fond of Ava and Mason than he realizes, as well as being part of the team as a whole. He was always open to working together but it’s like less I am working with these agents and more these are this team (less as in he’s in charge and more, these are his people.) I’m honestly excited to play the SPOILER investigation in book three with the history earned from books one and two. 

He’s always liked Nat. Felix still has him fucked up, lmao. 

16. Do they have any pets?

No. And he’ll say he doesn’t want one. But there’s this fat ass cat in his apartment. Pierre isn’t helping (or maybe he’s helping the right amount.) They’re friends. It legit downs his day when Mr. Sylvester doesn’t come to visit him during the weekends. 

17. What are their hobbies?

He enjoys reading. He also likes repairing older books. Nothing big or fancy. But it’s something he does for friends (what friends?? Just him and Verda and Eric being nerds). Mostly textbooks but also paperbacks and hardcovers for novels. It’s mostly rebinding but he’s learning about embossing and recovering and etc. Because he’s a nerd. 

He sometimes visits the local hospital and takes the kids toys to repaint. He’s not a hard repair person. But if it requires fine work, he’s got really steady hands. 

18. What do they think of Douglas?

He tries not to think of Douglas. He does wish he could focus more on his work. And will continue discipline him, take that phone away, in hopes that SOMETHING sticks. He thinks he’s a little punk

19. What does their apartment look like?

A Grandma’s cottage, apparently. It’s a cosy aesthetic. He probably definitely has a worn lazy-e-boy and nice, fluffy carpets. It’s warm colors and rich fabrics. It does lean less single-man-in-his-thirties and older-woman-with-fifty-cats. But. At heart, isn’t he just? 

20. What is their personality?

Stats here.

Boy Scout. Pierre is solid, dependable, organized. He is more work than play. He is reserved -- and sometimes almost reticent but not quite. The fact that he’s just so stolid and comfortable sort of distracts from that. It is almost strange how comfortable he is because he is slow to warm to people, but he’s so genuine, so polite/nice that once you get to know him, it’s hard to remember a time where you felt approaching might’ve been rebuffed. He’s definitely the guy you want to comfort families. Because he’s sympathetic and he says the right things and because he doesn’t take pride in it.

Pierre is the sort of person who does what he has to do . He’ll tell the family that their loved ones died (though he wishes moments like this didn’t exist). He’ll grit his teeth and swallow down discomfort to give victims the respect of his assessment, to hear what the ME is saying, and take the information needed to do his jump. 

Pierre has lowkey levels of ‘fuck around and find out’ though. He isn’t a pushover, isn’t easy to forgive, and even his loved ones can take a hit -- he’s open to forgiveness but it’s slowly given and opportunities to earn it aren’t always easy. As I said earlier, he’s tender-hearted but firm. 

One of the things I like about Pierre though, other than he takes things as they come (which can be both good and bad), is him and emotions. He definitely lets himself feel them in the pace that he feels he needs to (not to say things don’t get away from him, or that people haven’t taken advantage of them - Bobby -they have and he’s been in some bad situations because of them). He’s an overthinker. He’s also a little mischievous with a teasing humor. He’s a teensy bit off kilter but it’s hard to miss because he Does The Right Thing and he’s seemingly Broad Shouldered and Straight Backed At All Times, but he isn’t. It’s part of what I love about him and Felix. He gets to indulge in being a teensy rebellious and then not turn around and feel bad about it later.

21. Their favourite/comfort food?

Rice. It’s a staple for a reason. Less a comfort and more a food he enjoys: Beef teriyaki. When it’s on a skewer? Let’s just say he has to be mindful of his self control. Ends up with enough sticks to build a small log cabin. 

22. Do they go to the bar or stay at the station?

He stayed at the station. He’s a homebody, a bit. So going out wasn’t his ideal. He also had work to do.

23. Their gender/sexuality?

He/him and he associates with his designation at birth (so cis male). He’s bisexual. 

24. How did they handle the fight with Murphy? Did they get bitten?

If I remember right, he did pretty well (I mean he ended up bleeding so, like. BUT CONSIDERING!). Murphy got captured but he did get bitten.

He goes from Modern to stylish/professional if I remember correctly.

So for that one Clown invasion. After everyone else is freed from the brainwashing. The immediate aftermath, almost all of Sage Island can hear very loud terrified screaming from Night Raven College.

Was that not what happened? Also I really wonder what everyone else’s immediate reaction was from getting freed. They not only see Zombozo completely beaten up on the ground. But yeah, they are all in clown costumes and makeup(Leona and Azul will definitely hate this, no scratch that. A lot of students will hate it!) I can’t wait to see how the omnitrix user plus their only ally blends in with the rest by acting like they just got freed too.(also since you said Idia and Malleus’s part took place after book 7. No clown makeup needed for them. Right?)

Also yes, Idia and Malleus don't need clown makeup, but because the whole NRC is petty™, they are forced into it. (it was either that or a celebration cake made by Lilia)

FF7R vs FF7 mural comparison

I’ve been playing through OG to remind myself of some of the story elements that might go into Remake, and spot some refs, too. 

Once we hit the temple of the ancients we see this long ass mural depicting the previous fall of meteor and some other stuff. It’s mostly based on Egyptian style, so obviously some of the design is outdated, but there’s definitely a lot of elements that made it into the new mural we see in chapter 17 on Aerith’s wall. 

Yall are gonna notice in my FF7 screens that I’m power boosting lol yup, totally cheating through the game to get story content.

Ok, spoiler warning for ppl who haven’t played – do I still need to do this? Eh ok, (I tag FF7R spoilers as final fantasy 7 remake spoilers) and it’s gonna be smol.

Also, this is one person’s interpretation of the scene, so if you disagree that’s cool and we’ll agree to disagree.

Anyway, let’s mosey!

The main image in the Remake mural is the planet with the yellow flower in the centre and meteor about to hit it. It’s a combination drawing of both Aerith’s childish designs and her mother’s more sophisticated style. 

In the OG we didn’t get any flower imagery since that’s new for Remake, so instead we have the black materia being held up and summoning meteor. 

I found this image of the different style flower in the top part of the Remake drawing interesting. It doesn’t look like the others. It’s not a sun. Not a star. Definitely a flower. Why have a different design? Is it just a call back to the OG? 

Well, over in FF7 there’s this similar design that everyone’s praying to. It’s not the sun - I’ve got a screen of that lower down. It’s not a star and it’s not meteor. I have no idea as to either symbolism. FF7 could be praying to a God/Goddess and FF7R could be the origin of the meteor, since the vapour trail from it comes from the spot where this flower is. 

I honestly don’t know, but it’s interesting both murals have this similar picture in them.

Said I had one of the sun. 

In the Remake mural we’ve got the temple of the ancients surrounded by yellow flowers, which we know the whispers told Aerith to follow. Since the temple is a huge part of her heritage arc we know we’re gonna go there. In the original game we’ve got a bunch of Egyptian based imagery and hieroglyphics on the wall. Pretty sure I heard someone went to the trouble of translating them back in the day, but I’m not 100%. The sun in both murals is markedly different to the stars or flower imagery, so there’s no mistaking those.

Meteor in both images. Seems Aerith’s mother predicted this when Aerith was like 7? You can also - just about - see the fallen red star of Jenova to the left of the screen where the red flower is. It’s a brighter red than the flower and laying by the stalk. So, this is definitely predicting meteor and the future and doesn’t depict the past because we already have evidence of Jenova’s fall to the planet on it. 

There’s no similar imagery on the OG mural, unless I missed it. 

Yeah, same image as before, but this time I’m focusing on the figures in it.

Remake has five people with a different design to the townspeople types at the bottom of the mural. Now, since holy is a type of materia, does that mean that Remake’s meteor is also a materia and not a pyramid shape? One of the figures in the Remake mural is definitely female, while the others appear to be male. Above the central figure’s head is a green orb -- holy? Beside that is another orb of the exact same size -- this may possibly be meteor since the two materia are opposites to each other. Two figures have books floating in front of them. One holds a staff and the other two are raising their arms to the heavens. This is some kind of summoning ritual. This fits what we know about how both magics are used. Aerith had to perform a summoning ritual for Holy, while Sephiroth manipulated his way around it to call Meteor.

You can see in OG the figures hold green items and there’s a lot of green within the entire mural itself. One holds a staff, one has a cup beside them, there’s a basket on the ground, a female character has her arms raised and the last figure appears to have a mirror(?) in their hand. 

If the summoning ritual calls for more than one person, this could explain why it took Holy so long to arrive. Aerith didn’t have enough power to do it on her own, so it took longer. 

Since the OG depicts the previous meteor fall which brought Jenova, we can see a continuation of that within Aerith’s mural because the fallen star symbolising Jenova is there already. A second star about to hit the planet is the current threat from Sephiroth summoning meteor. 

Aerith’s mother painted the sophisticated elements of the mural, so she both gave Aerith a history lesson and a warning about things to come. Did she have prior knowledge? Did the planet tell her since it knows its own story from inception to end as Red explained? If it did, why would she tell Aerith about it? Because part of that story is knowing how her daughter dies and she wants to save her? Could we be getting a King Regis interference parallel here? Ifalna doesn’t want Aerith to die, so she warns her about what’s coming, but to save her, she literally has to destroy the path of fate. She has to go against her own role as a protector of the planet.

I believe it. A parent would do anything to save their kid.

[TRANS] 190612 IU’s China Fanclub ‘EunKnight’ shares adorable moments and conversation with IU on the filming set of Hotel Del Luna

We were informed that the staff would have their dinner around 6PM, so our members departed at 3PM. Upon arriving at the filming set around 4:30PM, there was a coffee truck right in front of us.

Initially, we thought it was sent by another fansite but the logo was nowhere to be found. So we asked the coffee truck owner and found out it was sent by IU, and we instantly went: 

We also noticed a few new unseen photos of IU and took many pictures of them. We wanted to share with other uaenas but the staff told us not to leak it as for now (to prevent spoilers), so we could only...

Since we were kind of late to the set, so we proceeded to pack the 100 gift bags for the staff members while scanning the set from time to time to look out for IU’s arrival.

While waiting for the clock to hit 7, one of the staff PDs saw the gifts we prepared and exclaimed “Daebak (amazing), there are bucket hats too!” while trying out one of it. He took a dozen of it away and told us that he would pass on the remaining hats to staff from other teams.

One of our members then saw a white van coming from afar and wondered if it was IU’s. Turns out if was indeed hers as Hyeseon and Hanteo got down from the car, and closely followed by IU in her tracksuit and mask with no makeup. (looking so smol)

She greeted us first and said she would be right back after putting on her makeup.

While waiting for her, manager Hanteo tried to put on the bucket hat but failed as the size didn’t fit his head. He also greeted us and asked whether we had the coffee (by IU) or not.

Around 7PM, actor Yeo Jin Goo got changed (clothing) and had dinner with most of the staff members. Some of the staff knew we were Chinese fans and expressed their gratitude too.

At last, IU finally came out after the makeover!!! She looked so elegant in her black dress (a bit see-through) and long curly hair. She greeted the staff and headed to the buffet section. 

Since there were quite a handy of seats being occupied by the staff, so we waited patiently for them to leave before joining IU for dinner. IU waved her hands passionately and told us to “come quickly!”

Upon finding out that we had yet to take our dinner, she urged us to get some food and join her for dinner. We were taken aback as IU exclaimed “好吃!” (yummy in chinese)

IU tried her best to speak in Chinese since there were two members who didn’t understand Korean. She was worried that we waited her for too long in the cold weather and told us to be careful not to catch a cold (so thoughtful). Even looking at her from such close distance, her face was only this small...

She wore moon-shaped earrings and necklace, and red nail polish. She was so tiny and thin that she could pass being a skeleton (lol)... Her outfit was slightly see through and that made us a tad bit shy...

IU was touched upon seeing the poster made up of pictures of C-uaenas writing “We are with IU” and told us to thank everyone who’s contributed in it.

As IU read through our donation certificate, she told us that she’s impressed by our dedication of donating trees for the past 3 years to help the poor and said she would visit the place one day when she’s free.

We also let her have a look at her 10 years worth schedule book that we had previously compiled as well as the fan made calendar. She flipped through each page thoroughly and gasped at how young she looked back then. She also complimented us for our creativity and thoughtfulness.

IU was fascinated by the tea biscuits that we gave her and did the ‘hammering’ action with her hand and asked whether that’s how the biscuits were made (LOL)

One of our members was preparing the bucket hats for the staff and IU said the hats looked lovely but she couldn’t wear it since she’s got her hair done for the shooting. We reassured her that it’s fine. But when we explained to her that both sides of the hat are usable, she reached out for the hat almost immediately to put it on, but was fortunately stopped by us lol. We told her to wear it next time.

She also told us that the bottle with ‘Hotel Del Luna’ printed on it was so pretty, and would bring it everywhere with her to show it off to her fellow staff members on set (with her arrogant yet dorky face... like this:)

We prepared Fujian (Hokkien) white tea as a gift for the director, but since he wasn’t there yet, so the staff said they would pass it to him on behalf of us later on. 

Q. How did you hurt your arm?

IU: (pulls up the sleeves) that’s the scar from a previous injury. I recently caught a cold so I went to get an IV drip. 不要感冒! (don’t catch a cold)

Q. Do you have to shoot all night for today as well?

IU: We’ll probably have to film till late night, but we wouldn’t pull an all-nighter today since we have some scenes to film early in the morning tomorrow.

Q. How do you usually learn Chinese?

IU: Mainly through listening to Chinese songs and translating the lyrics to Korean. Normally, I try learn pronounce the Chinese words based on Korean (pinyins/ romanization)

Uaena: Your mandarin skills are great!

IU: You’re complimenting me for my mandarin???! (SHOOK) 

Q. You said ‘新年快乐’ (happy new year) early this year, how did you know that?

IU: I learned it previously and kept it in my mind.

Q. Do you usually enjoy listening to Chinese songs?

IU: These days i’ve been working on preparing my new album so I wouldn’t really listen to other songs. But you can gather some opinions from C-uaenas and let me know which Chinese songs you guys want me to sing~ 

Q. Will you hold concerts in China this year?

IU: We’ve been trying our best to contact organisers in Beijing and Shanghai, but it’s not as easy as it seems.

Uaena: C-uaenas haven’t seen you in a really long time, so we always attend your domestic and overseas concerts in Seoul, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

IU: I know lots of C-uaenas came to watch my Seoul concert last year. I’ll probably cry or get emotional/teary if I hold concert in China now since I haven’t seen you guys in a really long while.

Though manager Hanteo told IU to get ready for the shoot, IU still took her time and signed for us patiently, her pinyin skills were great (as though a grade 4 student in elementary school)

What do you eat or drink while writing? - Uhhhh.... it depends. Most of the time I don’t eat much, but I drink tea.

Best piece of advice you ever received? -WRITE!!!! OUT OF!!!!!! ORDER!!!!! I struggled so much when it came to writing because I had this linear thought process drilled into my brain ((thanks school)) but my lovely friend Ponnie showed me that writing out of order is incredibly fun!!! and helpful!!!!

Which book inspired you to write the most? -Hmmm.... tbh my main reason for writing is to build up my OCs so they can fix all the plot holes in my favorite shows/books/games hehe..... so to answer your question: Danganronpa, BNHA, Code Lyoko, The Elder Scrolls, RWBY, and Steven Universe are my reasons.  -Throwing my OCs out the window for a minute and focusing on what inspired me the most, I’d say probably Brandon Sanderson’s “Mistborn” trilogy inspired me. Where did you get the idea for your current wip? -Ah, i don’t have any WIPs, just OCs. My most recent is Mardea Lin, for the BNHA fandom. I got her idea because I was thinking “hey yo real quick Shoto is hot (heheh pun) and I happen to want to make a character with a new quirk lets see how this goes” and that’s how it went

Listen, this shit got long so here’s a quick rundown of Vivi so you don’t have to waste time unless you want to hahaha

Born in Paris, France to affluent parents - her mother was a politician and her father a real estate magnate. 

She was raised to be the picture-perfect daughter, mild and timid and set to follow in her parents’ footsteps. Let’s just say she was not thrilled with that. 

She was kidnapped at the age of 7 and held for ransom, it messed her up and she still has nightmares from that shit. 3 weeks later her parents got her back, but then put her under a bell jar and threw away the key.

She rebelled, ran away from home, hid away at the Louvre, generally did not obey especially when they forced her hand. 

They moved away to the US when she was 14 and she coped with it by creating her own game of play pretend - she figured out she had a penchant for pretending to be someone else, changing both her mien and looks, and it was her way of taking control over herself. 

At 18 she met Astor, a con-artist, at a banquet her parents attended and figured out what he was when they’d both tried to play each other by pretending to be something they weren’t. He wanted something from her parents’ house and she just gave it to him bc girl was SMITTEN. 

She ran off with him and the two bounced around the world for about two years, growing into their infamy as someone who could get their hands on anything you possibly wanted. 

They were on a mission in New York when shit went down, Astor disappeared (she still doesn’t know if he betrayed her or he got killed and it’s TORTURING her) and Vivi was kidnapped by a gang, branded as their property and had to live through hell on earth for almost a year. 

There was a raid and she escaped during that raid (she guesses it was someone from Chicago who was involved, and is still looking into who tf it was bc she owes them her life), took Astors Ferrari and got back to her parents. 

Studied Art History and English Lit while living with them, and then a few years later (after dealing with her trauma) she eventually moved to Chicago to open Historia. 

She nurtured her reputation as someone who could get shit for you that wasn’t even on the black market, as well as her connections to both the O’Sheas and the Fausts while remaining starchy neutral.

Started working at Eden a year in, as a dancer/singer - it was a way for her to take control of her body back and deal with her trauma from New York. 

HISTORY 

Born in Paris, France to parents who were affluent in their respective fields - her mother, working in politics, and her father, a real-estate magnate. She was coddled from early on, raised to be this picture-perfect daughter, with her destiny set in stone. Even though she was born the younger daughter, it didn’t mean anything less was expected from her. 

She showed an affinity for art and literature and music early on - and her parents let her focus on it, for now anyway. But she’d always been a wild child, interested in anything and everything, from running through museums to ballet to horseback riding.

When she was 7, she was kidnapped and held for ransom by a group that didn’t like her mother’s ideas, but liked her father’s money. Her parents would get her back after almost 3 weeks of a tug of war that was heavily publicized, but not without permanent scars that would mark Vivian for life, both mentally and physically. 

From then on her home life took a grim turn - her parents, terrified after what had happened to her little girl, decided to put her under a bell jar and keep her inside. Though terrified herself, Vivi was a social, lively kid that whithered away once cut off from the rest of the world, home-schooled and monitored at all times. 

She would perform rebellions of her own, little at first - unsatisfied with being locked up and told what she was supposed to do with her life. She would not be shoved into politics, or forced to take on her father’s business, or even worse - marry a wealthy, affluent man who would then take on her father’s business. She would be wild, and no one could take that away from her.

These rebellions escalated with age - from running out and hiding in the gardens, to running out and hiding in the Louvre. The one rebellion she couldn’t perform at 14 was staying in Paris when her parents packed up and decided to move to the US, taking away what little agency she still had in a city that held so many familiar hiding spots. 

There she learned she had a penchant for pretence - she could morph herself into whatever she wanted to be. All she had to do was tweak her make up, what she wore, the way her eyes would burn with indignance or be downcast in delightful bashfulness, the lines of her smile, lips painted a seductive red or charming pink. It was an art form in itself, this game of make-believe. 

By the time she was 18, it had become almost second-nature to her - she was all of it, both the lonely girl trapped beneath the bell jar and the characters she would come up with. It would not be until she met Astor that she’d realise she was not alone in this game - he too knew how to play this game, and played it well. But neither of them played well enough to not call each other out by the time the banquet was over. 

And while she did it for the freedom of being someone else, he did it because it was a way to attain connections, find his way into houses that held something he wanted, a precious jewel, an antique, information. Vivi would become enthralled by him - and how could she not? He was a wildcard, a creature of freedom, everything she ever wanted. 

It was not long before she was running away with him, leaving behind in her room only a promise that this time she was disappearing of her own volition. It would not be easy at first, with her parents organizing a manhunt - for her daughter, and the man who had ‘taken her away’ from them. But Astor had a way with avoiding notice, even if he was the type of person to attract all eyes towards him, and the two would bounce around the world, drunk on their exhilaration, young and in love and at the top of the world. 

Vivi, raised with this romantic ideal of love and destiny, thought it would never end. They would always be this, infamous for their ability to attain what no one else could, legends in making, young and beautiful and brilliant. But it did. It was a mission gone wrong, out there in New York - and the two of them would get separated, Vivi left behind to be dragged away once again, and Astor to never be seen again. 

Her abilities were only useful when she was free, but now - kidnapped and abused into submission, she was once again stripped of her agency, her beloved freedom snatched away, her spirits shattered into a million tiny pieces. She was marked, her wrist tattooed, made into nothing but property. And she’d almost believed them, she’d almost let them take her soul away. 

There was a raid eventually, and in the midst of the commotion, she did what she did best - slipped away, unnoticed. She’d steal Astor’s car from their garage (they’d taken that too), a fiery-red 250 GT California that made her soul ache, and fled. Through diplomatic channels, she’d manage to reach her parents, and return home after being gone for almost three years. 

Back home she refused to be put under control once again - the bargain was struck, her return for her freedom. But freedom, after everything that had happened to her, was a dainty, broken thing. She was terrified of her own shadow, her soul bruised, wondering what had happened with Astor - unsure whether to mourn his betrayal or his death. She would live with her parents for the next few years, learning to be whole again, studying Art History and Literature, immersing herself in that experience. 

She’d find eventually that not all of her was taken away in those months she’d spent trapped in New York - and eventually, she would move to Chicago, to open Historia, her antiques shop, to find out who was behind that raid in New York that had let her escape, to find herself again. 

She’s been in Chicago for a few years now - building up a name for herself, as someone who’s able to attain anything your heart might desire, building up connections with both the O’Sheas and the Fausts. Illicit antiques or antique weapons - you name it and she will find it, even if it’s not readily available on the black market. 

It was almost a year into her stay that she’d joined the Eden crew as a dancer and a singer both. That was a rash decision, made because something broken still ached in her chest - a way to take control of her body back. She would be seen and admired under her own conditions, and no one could take that away from her ever again. A strange way to deal with her trauma, some would say, but she’d always liked doing things the way she felt was right.

HEADCANONS

Drives a fiery red Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder that was originally Astor’s. She loves that car like it’s a piece of her soul and in a way - it is. It was stolen from them when their operation was busted in NYC but she literally risked her life during he raid just to get it back. She knows it’s a wild cliché, but she would protect that piece of metal with her life. Sure, it’s a pretty thing, and she likes the way she feels behind the wheel – but there is a certain amount of sentimentality involved. When she’s not in that car she’s got a motorcycle to get around and loves dressing up for it. 

Even though Historia looks innocent enough at first glance, and it mostly is (you can just walk in and buy stuff from the shelves), if you’re aware of Vivi’s capabilities you can ask her to get anything for the right price. She works to get stuff that’s not even on the black market for both the O’Sheas and the Fausts (artefacts or antique guns, depending on the request). She will straight up walk into someone’s house and steal that shit if necessary hahaha

Despite her reputation as being very reliable and getting the original stuff for her usual customers, she will sometimes con rich assholes she doesn’t’ like into buying something that’s actually a forgery. She has a talent for making those and does an impeccable job at making them look legit - from forging them to look worn and aged to making the documents look legit. But if she likes you or if you’re a familiar customer she’ll straight up tell you don’t buy this, it’s fake af. Like she won’t do this unless she has a secret bone to pick with someone.

She will rather stand on precarious stacks of various items or chairs, than admit she can’t reach something – which happens often, given her height, and has been the culprit behind a few bruised elbows. 

 Absolutely loves horseback riding, and has since she was a child and took her first lessons. She actually owns an Arabian thoroughbred named Ares whom she’d gotten from her parents as a gift, and has brought him along with her to Chicago. Whenever she is feeling stressed or lonely it’s where she can be found, either just tending to Ares, or taking him for a ride.

She has in the past, and still does - give out a fake name and a persona when she’s feeling like doing it. She’ll tweak her accent and her personality and dress appropriately and just play along - it’s not done out of malice, just an old habit she’s had since she was a teenager. If she likes you she’ll probably admit to it eventually and say who she really is. 

Does have a faint French accent that slips through when she’s irritated, tired or distressed - or when she feels like being extra. Words like mon cher and merde are used often enough though. 

Dances and sings at Eden as a way of taking control of her body again - it’s a way of coping with trauma, even if most people don’t know it is.

When she was kidnapped and imprisoned by a gang in New York, they tattooed her wrist to mark her as their property. She doesn’t like to speak of everything she’d endured there, from being forced to work in one of their clubs to being abused, and the scars she’d made over the tattoo are usually hidden beneath bracelets or long sleeves or gloves.   

She’s still a lively persona that refuses to be chained down by her trauma - she’s that person that’ll grab your hand and drag you on stage with her to sing karaoke, or refuse to leave when you’re dealing with something tough. She just loves people, and is willing to give herself away for them - it’s why she suffered so much and rebelled when her parents tried to lock her away to keep her from harm.

Loves painting/photographing people and animals, nature is fine - but she prefers to paint the living things, mid-movement and gilded with life. 

You can count on her to randomly quote shit, from poetry to literature. Her love for it has always been about escapism, but even now she can’t let go of it - she’s always caught up in some story unfurling in her mind. 

Her favourite things in Historia are old books and first editions - she’s hesitant to sell them sometimes, especially when she’s doubtful they’ll end up in good hands.  

Can’t fight properly - I mean she’s better than the average person, but there’s no way she could hold her own against someone who actually knows how to fight. Which is probably why she’s always on the lookout for someone who could train her, both to fight and to handle a gun. There’s a certain desperate need in her to learn how to protect herself - she doesn’t like feeling powerless.

Has killed someone when trying to escape from New York - she still hasn’t entirely gotten over it. It’s a struggle because she liked doing it - taking control back and avenging what they’d done to her. 

Will hide her scars the best she can - she doesn’t think they take anything away from her beauty but she also doesn’t like to be reminded of what was done to her, and tries to avoid curious glances and questions.

Loves playing the piano, and has one right in the middle of her living room - it’s all a very pretentious affair at first glance, but she actually does it because it’s familiar and soothing.

The Sister - I’ve intentionally left her sister kinda unspecified because I want to leave room for the player to shape her and her story the way they want! But I would love to see this connection happen and I think Vivi absolutely adores her older sister, and while she hasn’t had problems rebelling against their parents, I think she’s always feared disappointing her sis. ksdfmlsdk I just need this in my life ngl 

Astor - The name isn’t set in stone btw, I can just change his name in the intro so you’re free to do with him what you like! (like the name, age, where he’s from, why he is who he is etc.) But basically, I would love to see this connection happen because the idea was that he didn’t die (even though Vivi isn’t sure if he’s alive or dead) and instead managed to get away. Why he did it can definitely be discussed and the connection has a looot of potential for being angsty. They haven’t seen each other in years but Vivi was once absolutely smitten with him - I think it would be interesting to see what their dynamic would be after all those years have passed and the trauma they both suffered. She will not give him back their Ferrari though. Might agree to shared custody and that’s only if he can bribe her hahah Anyway this doesn’t have to be a romantic connection - I mean that entirely depends on how they deal with what happened and if Vivi can even forgive the betrayal, but it can still be angsty either way. 

The one that set her free - Okay so there was a raid in New York, and someone didn’t bat an eyelid while she escaped, or actually helped her escape when they figured she was held against her will (we can tweak this, again it’s not set in stone) She’s figured out they are somewhere in Chicago, but it can be anyone really - from gang members to unaffiliated charries to police. She just wants to figure out who it is and thank them for saving her life tbh This can be legit anything - the charrie could recognize her but not say anything and she’d have to figure it out on her own, or she could actively seek them out, or they could tell her, anything works! 

Fake persona/name victims - Honestly this bitch be out there pretending to be a British art curator or a French duchess or a member of a rock band or some shit like that. It’s open to more than one charrie and she’s been all around the world so this could work for anyone, any age or location. There could have been an affair, but tbh it could have also been a business deal or a friendship or anything really. I would love to have these connections and have her have to explain who tf she really is. 

Someone who recognises her from New York - pretty self-explanatory. I would love to explore that part of her history and tbh this could force her to explain what had happened to her. She could’ve admitted to them that she needed help but they couldn’t do anything to help her, or she could’ve just played her part there (not to get punished) and they could think that was the real her, she could’ve probably danced for them or smth and maybe resents them for it? Honestly, this could be as positive or as negative as we want it to be (whatever fits your bby i’m down for it)  

Historia customers - Tbh your bby could be just a casual visitor or someone who’s privy to her connection with the black market. She could’ve gotten something from them that they couldn’t get otherwise. This can be anyone since she’s on neutral territory but it can also be a member of O’Sheas or Fausts bc she does work with them and tbh prefers them to the Vasiles - she’d like her market to stay free and open and not for someone to have a monopoly over it. 

Historia employees - She def needs help with Historia, so your charrie could be working there! Esp if they’re a fan of art and old things and old books - we can figure out the position! They could be aware of her more... illicit dealings or they could be completely clueless and there could be some drama when they find out! Also, they can nerd out over this stuff together...

Partner in crime - This could be set at any point in time - perhaps they worked together on a mission to get something, they might be an art trader or a con-artist themselves, or she asked (maybe even paid) for their help when there was a particularly tough mission and she needed backup and protection. skdfjosodl I would love this so much, like we can even do a present thread for it - she’s still in the business after all. 

Someone she duped/stolen from - again, pretty self-explanatory, but this could be anyone that might have had something she wanted - I’d love to see her get called out on it. It could but doesn’t have to be a dark and resentful connection, it can always be amiable and she can be like ok I’m sorry I was just doing my job - do you want me to get smth for you pro bono?? Or they could call out her thieving ass in a darker way hahaha

Friends - past and present both! Someone she knows from her travels, someone she’s been friends since she was kid, and especially someone she’s friends with now. She’s amiable and loves people so it’s not that far fetched and it could work for anyone, she’s not picky or judgy haha 

Her squad - please?? We stan that stuff in this household. Doesn’t matter who they are and what their gender is, but Vivi would straight up die for these people, and she really likes being alive so that says something. They could even be neighbours or something! Ooh they could also work at Eden, I’d love to see that! She’s very protective of them probs. 

Eden customers - people who know her from Eden (they can know her from Historia too), they might be friendly with her, or she might have even danced/flirted with them or slept with them. She’s not above it if she particularly likes someone and would do it anyway, even though she’s not an escort.

dream job: okay so i need to ramble a bit about this because i’ve just realized how passionate i am about it-- Licensed Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Professional Counselor.. look, i love working with kids so much, in fact, i’m actually getting ready to work at my local catholic church for sunday classes with the kids!! sorry, back to the point- i love working with kids, i love talking with them through their problems, i love helping them figure out things within themselves, etc. i don’t want to say i have a knack for that because that would be ridiculous to state; that is something that has to be learned and improved on an on going basis, but at my previous job, kids would always come to me for with their problems, advice, an other things.. and i would actually help them!?! every friday before we would finish our weekly shift, we would have evaluations, i would always get called out by my director for the review he received from campers, about how i helped them through their problems, the advice i gave them, and i how i made their week in camp the best experience they had.. i was passionate about working in a foster care institution, and i still am, but maybe i could still work there as a counseling expert? of some sort? sighhhh- i rambled too much. sorry. but yeah i’d like to work as that 👆 all the way up there.😊😊
