im part of a duo where we are in the middle of writing an entire dsmp rewrite (called D.S.M.P. Reimagined, or DSMPR for short), from before the beginning and after the end. it will most likely be just me on this blog as kat is terminally offline. we post every friday!

I'll pitch in to answer any questions we get about our fan-fiction work, though, so expect some appearances from me. I'm a massive c!Wilbur fan and quite enjoy c!Dream's villainy. I could talk for hours about how much c!Technoblade isn't an Anarchist whatsoever and how deeply flawed his ideology is, but instead of doing that here I am writing that into D.S.M.P.R.! dsmp reimagined is a series of fics focusing on re-writing the entire canon of the dream smp, starting and ending before and after the events of it (which are of our own design and completely non-canon, we will not be delving into smplive or any other smp with the same characters in any capacity). this is NOT an au, but a retelling with several elements of canon altered, outright removed, or expanded upon.

our main goal is to tell a more grounded and realistic version of the dsmp's story, while still keeping the charm and humour that made it so special. we want to do justice to the serious themes and ideas that the dsmp presented and attempted to convey, but ultimately failed to with the proper respect and tact necessary.

Three Hundred and Thirty Four Days is a mildly canon divergent retelling of the exile arc. it follows tommy as he spirals and becomes isolated by dream, and explores his relationship with community, family and religion. it is basically a character study as tommy loses more and more hope, similar to the canon story, except this one takes place over a span of a year and delves deeper into his psyche.

Not sure about the hc/life series side of things bc i literally dont keep up with that, but from what ive seen, the large no shipping rules came from smplive and those guys (jschlatt, connoreatspants, the misfits, lunch club, ted nivison, swaggersouls, etc) (who contined to keep those rules for the fandom on their new minecraft server (the one that flopped twice after like two weeks, cant remember the name)) so when minecraft blew up again in 2019, that was the overall mindset.

There also wasnt a clear distinction between c! and cc! at that point in time (the difference would only become known and used during tommy's exile arc on dsmp in dec of 2020, as suggested by dream himself), so any shipping of characters/cubitos largely implied shipping of the real life ccs, somthing that many smplive players brought up and made fun of on stream or on twitter. (This is also one of the reasons why minecraft rp falls under the umbrella rpf category on ao3.)

(2019 was also the tail end of the massive youtuber gaming boom of 2014-2016, where powerhouses like markiplier, jacksepticeye, pewdiepie, dan and phil, vanoss crew, etc had massive fanbases known for writing/pushing rpf, so many people associated fanworks = rpf at the time. I think the smplive guys wanted to nip that in the bud as fast as possible and didnt consider that someone could write about the fictional characters in a fictional space without mentioning the real life creators at all. They didnt see themselves as playing characters.)

This mindset carried over into smpearth and early dsmp in 2020, pushing well into dsmp's lifespan and didnt really start drying out until early to mid 2022 when the dsmp started dying out. I think the fandom mindset at the time was that if the ccs dont care about the server or characters, fans can kinda do what they want. However, shipping was still pretty unpopular/mostly underground. (See: all of the discourse with drawing/showing c!beeduo romantic or not)

At the same time, international minecraft fandoms (specifically looking at the spanish-speaking ones) definitely benefitted from the minecraft boom of 2019/2020, but since they nor their fans interacted with the smplive guys, they didn't feel like it was taboo to talk about shipping. (LatAm culture is also more relaxed with openly showing affection to your friends than american/british culture from what ive seen, too.) So the creators played into these ships in minecraft (and sometimes outside of it) that would've been deemed problematic had they happened in an english-speaking sphere. (See: luckity from Karmaland V, one of the most popular ships of late 2022/early 2023, between Luzu, a 40 year old man with a wife and kid at home, and Quackity, who was 21/22 at the time.)

When the qsmp started in march 2023, this was the first time that english-speaking and spanish-speaking communitites, fandoms, and creators interacted. There was an initial culture shock of the spanish speakers being so open about shipping and rping explicitly gay relationships, but as so much time had passed since the smplive days and as the specific english-speaking creators chosen for qsmp were more chill as a whole, the english fanbase and creators started to buy into and be more relaxed about shipping characters (also where the word cubito comes from.)

(Interestingly enough, from what I've seen, there is still a huge taboo of rpf shipping in non-english speaking minecraft fandoms, just as there is here, but that might either be a twitter thing or maybe it's just implied that shipping two creators automatically means shipping their characters, so rpf is more explicitly labeled and harder to find. There's quite a lot of "not creators, just cubitos" disclaimers on ao3 in spanish and portuguese fics.)

Eventually, this new mindset started leaking into the other english minecraft fandoms like hc and life series where i think it became more acceptable to ship characters?? This is where i don't know what happens bc i don't watch or participate in that fandom.

Watching the Jack dsmp stream right now and I have So Many things to say about dsmp (and a little bit smplive :( sorry) so I'm just dropping it here. (copy and pasted directly from my twt rant and cleaned up a bit #lazy)

I wish there was another smp like the dsmp honestly, just a normal ass smp but with some insane lore sometimes. Like thats fun!!! It's great!!! Especially when its being streamed, like i'm watching them act LIVE thats so fun. this is how i felt about smplive tbh, like even though that wasnt really mcrp and it was just friends on a server the live streaming aspect of it is what I loved about it, and its hard to feel anything negative when I think of either server. Though dsmp did eventually become an rp only server with some streamers and that was so fun too, like with Quackity after a while and it was aways fully setup with an entire video he made beforehand and simply streamed. And even with Tommy who never did like full videos and streamed them, but instead just started streaming and immediately started roleplaying. No intro and no outro half of the time, so fun so fun!!! And i saw earlier that Philza avoided lore half of the time, and even then he had a pretty full story. Or at least was an amazing supporting character for some.

I want to start this with why You should listen to Me about this :^3! Hi, I'm Chip and I have had a special interest in Minecraft roleplay since I was about 9 (assuming Aphmau's Minecraft Diaries was truly my first mcrp) and that would mean I have had this special interest for Nine Years and I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about.

Now onto what I actually want to talk about! I feel that Minecraft roleplay is simply not explored as much as it truly could be. There is so little of this genre, at least compared to things like let's play series and challenge videos, and it is so baffling to me that a game like Minecraft, an open-world sandbox game with little to no actual canon, would not have a surplus of content like this! Of course recently there has been a significant uptick in content like this because of the DSMP, and I am honestly overjoyed about that, but before this there has been almost nothing? Now obviously I cannot know every single mcrp series ever created, nor have I even watched every series I've seen come on my recommended, but I can confidently say there is a lack of content! Specifically a lack of intentional content.

There are so many series/servers that are completely non-rp, but include things with jokey moments where they allude to things in the past as if it was serious and affected their MC character, or are half-and-half. What I mean by half-and-half is that the series is not actually called an rp (or even just not intended to be and slowly became a thing that regularly happens), but there are many moments where there is clearly a story that everyone is following in some way. I think a good example of this is Hermitcraft, of course I have not seen every single Hermitcraft episode and cannot say if its always been like this, but, for example, in season 7 (which I have fully seen a few creators series) there is a semi-clear story with occasional rp moments, but it is still just a normal SMP. I honestly love servers like this as it's hard for me to actually sit down and watch something that could be considered a show, but the amount of wasted potential is so upsetting to me!!!

There are even many series and SMPs that have no rp at all outside of jokes and the push is from the fandom surrounding it. I unfortunately don't have an example from off the top of my head, but they do exist trust me!!!! I think I could, once again, loosely say Hermitcraft as the creators tend to be involved in the fandom. There are a few moments where they did not consider something as a story moment, they saw fanart or someone talking about it in a more serious way, then they bring it up! I love this aswell, I think it's so fun!!! (if i am completely wrong about this do not point it out :( simply believe me)

You could make any story you'd ever want, you have literally anything at your disposal and so little people actually go for it. In a game where you can: customize your character, literally build (and even specifically retexture) the world around you, have others join you as a character in your story, or make your own NPCs and dialogue, you could genuinely make any story you could ever want and I encourage everyone to dip their toes into it. If you have ever thought of making a story, try using Minecraft. I'd say it's even the perfect place to start.

I don't tend to make large posts like this and even struggle to make comprehensible paragraphs, I literally started talking about this on my Twitter account then drafted all of it in a personal discord server. Quick mostly comprehensive guide post for the various minecraft and minecraft-adjacent things I post about/reblog because I have some straggler followers from before I started posting minecraft (😘) who do not know what I’m on about most of the time.

SMP: stands for survival multiplayer, describes a kind of minecraft server. all of the following are SMPs even if it doesn’t say that in the title

DSMP (Dream SMP): mainly twitch based server that was started by Dream in May of 2020. There are 36 total members but the ones I post most about are tommyinnit, Dream, Wilbur soot, tubbo, Ranboo, nihachu, awesamdude, quackity, and Jack manifold. There are some posts about the creators themselves and some about the characters they play on the SMP. This one has the most plot out of any of them.

OSMP (Origins SMP): also mainly streamed on twitch, Origins is a server that was started February 11, 2021 by Tommyinnit. It has a mod called Origins which gives a themed set of powers to every player. For example people that choose to be phantoms (Wilbur Soot in this server) gain the ability to go intangible and invisible, with the downside of lighting on fire when going out in the sunlight. Players include tommyinnit, wilbur soot, sneegsnag, nihachu, ranboo, tubbo, philza, and a handful of other people.

Hermitcraft: this post explains it better than I ever could. I mostly post about grian, mumbo jumbo, and goodtimeswithscar. Sometimes pearlescentmoon, geminitay, xisuma, bdoubleo100 (aka bdubs), and other hermits. Recently season 8 ended with the moon crashing into the planet, fun stuff!

3rd/Last Life SMP: 3rd life was a hardcore minecraft server with the twist that each player started the game with 3 lives. It was started on April 20th, 2021 by Grian, and included other players such as Goodtimeswithscar, Scott Smajor, Bdoubleo100, rendog, zombiecleo, and ImpulseSV. Rules of the server were that players could not attack unless provoked or on their final aka “red” life (which made them hostile towards others), had to stay within a 700 x 700 world border, and could only play during a set session every friday to keep things fair. 3rd life ended after eight sessions on June 4th 2021. Last Life was the sequel series that added new players Mumbo Jumbo, LDShadowlady, and Pearlescentmoon, as well as players starting on a random number of lives between 2 and 6, being able to trade their lives with each other for favours or material items, and those on their red lives having all attachments from before turning red severed, resulting in no alliances between red and non-red lives.

30SMP/30 days SMP/Free Trial SMP: was a 30 day long hardcore server started in June 2021 with tommyinnit, Jack manifold, philza, sneegsnag, tubbo, slimecicle, ranboo, and Wilbur soot. I don’t post about this one anymore but if you saw a post back when this was happening, that’s what this was about.

SMPLive: was a server with creators like callmecarson, slimecicle, sneegsnag, pokay, Ted nivison, and jschlatt. I also don’t post about this one much but it has come up and it was a major part of the minecraft revival in 2019 after its start on March 1st, 2019

These next ones are not SMPs but I have reblogged clips and posts about them so here goes.

Philza: streams regularly on his single player hardcore world that has lasted about 3 years now. He’s most known for his previous 5 year long hardcore world that ended after he died to a baby zombie, as well as being on the Dream smp.

MCC (Minecraft Championship): monthly minecraft competition between various minecraft YouTubers and streamers organized by Noxcrew, which includes Scott Smajor. Notable competitors include tommyinnit, technoblade, philza, Wilbur soot, Scott smajor, ranboo, grian, and many others.

Tommyinnit’s mod videos: tommy posts videos on his channel with small groups of other people using weird mods. each video follows whatever random assortment of people tommy put together (and himself) trying to beat the game while cracking jokes along the way and fighting against or using the mod to their advantage.

And finally, group names. None of these are shipping in any way, either in canon or in my interpretation of them. Just trying to distance myself from shipping because I don’t really do shipping for any of the fandoms on this post and I want to make it clear that these names are all names the fandom has decided on to make finding joint content between these people easier, they’re platonic. These fandoms tend to make group names for any two people that even look at eachother so it is hard to keep track. the following are just the ones i actively use. (also note that these group names are used for content creators and characters interchangeably)

“bench trio” is tommy, ranboo, and tubbo

“clingy duo” is tommy and tubbo, “allium duo” is tommy and ranboo, and “bee duo” is tubbo and ranboo

“sleepy bois inc” aka “sbi” is tommy, philza, technoblade, and wilbur soot. This one is often interpreted by the fandom as a family dynamic

“desert duo” is only referring to 3rd life smp grian and goodtimeswithscar

“boatem” or “boatem inc” refers to grian, mumbo jumbo, goodtimeswithscar, impulsesv, and pearlescentmoon during hermitcraft season 8.

Hi! I’ve just been going through who I’m following on dtblr and just trying to figure out everyone’s stance on staying/going or complete rebrands and etc. And if you plan on continuing being a fan if things are proven false? Feel free to ignore this if you don’t want to get into it!

hello!! it’s not problem asking i get being curious about what’s happening with everyone. as for me it’s a potentially temporary rebrand there are a lot of things having to be factored in but i will say i know i won’t ever feel 100% the way i used to about dream

if things get proven that it was all platonic with some cringe flirting i’m not going to lie i’ll probably continue watching content (if the 2022 stuff is proven true it’s less likely that i will) but the hyperfixation has definitely cracked but who knows honestly. but it very much depends on also how he goes about handling it as well. regardless i think it’s inappropriate for creators to form close connections with fans who are clearly infatuated (even dream who’s whole branding especially back then was how he’s ok with us being parasocial and wants to be “friends” with us)

if i do continue watching/posting stuff (definitely nowhere in the near future) i’ll make sure to tag it so you can filter it out if you don’t want to see it etc. i will still post about other ccs that i still will watch (i’m a connor frog first and foremost and i’ve been subbed to quackity for like 3+ years now) i was an smplive fan pre dsmp so this isn’t the first time i’ve had to work around posting about only certain people in a friend group

ok so theres this minecraft series made by slimecicle (yes the funny las nevadas goop guy) and its called the slimecicle cinematic universe. jschlatt is featured in it, as LITERALLY SATAN. there’s also plenty of other factors that could tie the slimecicle cinematic universe (SCU) to the dream smp but id make seperate posts about those

however, just a claim isnt enough proof to tie this shit together. i DO have another point, though
