i guess its easy to feel that way when you see podcasts be like 1 MILLION DOWNLOADS all the time for audio dramas, but most of the time its cause the people were working in radio before doing an original thing and have that network, or they’re like fresh from a grad course in sound tech or have a following from a previous project Or theyre being sponsored by a major company like hbo or smaller ones with a large following like snapjudgement

One of the things I remember the most when I was growing up is whenever you visited the home of a friend or a family member you were given water, and after that you were given the family photo album to look through. Same was done in my house whenever we had visitors. Conversations about these special moments that captured specific times and spaces in the photos were had whiles one looked through the album. The kind of photos we saw in these photo albums shaped our perception about whoever's pictures were looked at. Over the years, remembering these moments in our societies has opened my eye to how photography contributes to the formation of perception about people and society. And to some extent the photos set an agenda for the masses, or people who maybe affected by whatever is captured. Independent art curator Okwui Enwezor said in one of his writings (i think in the book Snap Judgements: new positions in contemporary African photography) that the emergence of photography works by some early African Photographers like Seydou Keita contributed to activities that sought to correct the erroneous perceptions that the west has about Africa. I am quiet selfcritical and I am fine with receiving constructive criticisms (not bullying) but I am not comfortable with snap judgements although we all make them from time to time💭...So I am just wondering why and why and why not and...🤬?!? “By choosing Meg and my freedom, over the life and the role my country demanded me to carry out, I condemned myself to exile. There was nothing for me to come back to in Russia. My home in Ivanovo was lost for me. My parents would lock me up, I would never see Meg again and would lose my life. Russia also no longer existed for me as a concept of "home". It was anything but home. I was hated in that country because I wanted to be free and loved a beautiful person.

Our allowed time in Ukraine was running out. Meg and I had to be somewhere. Russia was out. There was only one place for us to go -- to Meg's home country.

I had no visa for Canada, couldn't get it in Russia and the conventional way getting to Meg's home by plane or commercial transport was denied to us. Meg thought about buying and outfitting her own aircraft and in the end looked towards the sea as the only possible option.Meg and I got out of Ukraine and went to Turkey. There Meg found and bought a sailboat she thought was suitable for a long offshore passage. We prepared the sailboat the best we could, and two months later we headed into open Mediterranean.Meg had done some day-sailing on a little boat in British Columbia. I knew nothing about sailing or the sea. But we survived in the sea one day after another, and we were covering miles.

We crossed the whole Mediterranean from East to West. When we were not allowed to make a stop in Gibraltar we headed into Atlantic without charts, repairs or rest. We crossed the ocean, then Caribbean. We were lucky Panama let me in, and we slipped into Pacific via the canal.

Then there was more days, weeks and months of sailing. We got to the latitudes in North Pacific which nearly killed us. We ran from winter storms, avoided the deadly quadrant and headed North again. One day I saw a pale gray strip on the horizon. That was Vancouver island.”

Cool thank you. I'm no body language expert~ I just been a cashier for 15 years and study people that come in. I'd snapjudge the left couple to start a fight in the candy aisle over child custody drama while the right couple make out by the bathrooms lol. Like I see their pictures and know they're famous royalty but idk the tea. I don't watch TV and avoid the news cuz im always at work babysitting a storemart
