hi hi !! i was wondering if you could maybe make an imagine of snufkin from moominvalley as a caregiver, like tucking a regressor into bed (sry its rly weird lol, u totally dont have to do it)
Ahh not weird at all! Snufkin is such a comfort character of mine and this was a lot of fun to write. I hope you like it ^-^
Cg!Snufkin, little!reader imagine ~
It's been a day of adventure in Moominvalley, as it often is, and the cold evening air is soothing on your skin. Snufkin sits beside you, crafting a tune to mirror the light of the stars on his harmonica.
You sway with the sound letting it surround you like a blanket, and Snufkin turns to face you, a smile tugging at the sides of his instrument.
Easy as anything, the music shifts in nature, and the sound of a familiar lullaby has you pouting in realisation.
"There there, little one," Snufkin's lilting voice hushes, song paused for now. "The day must come to an end eventually for a new one to begin."
He reaches over, soother in his hand like magic, and places it in your mouth. You can feel your shoulders drop almost instantly, eyes going droopy as the day's exhaustion finally catches up with you.
Snufkin uses the opportunity to clear things away for the evening, extinguishing the fire last and quickly making his way beside you as he catches you shiver.
"Come, my little explorer, it's warmer inside."
Gentle as ever, he guides you into the tent. The starlight from outside filters through the mossy walls, casting a green glow on the space that reminds you of sunshine through a tree canopy. Chuckling at your enamoured expression, Snufkin settles you down against soft blankets and pillows that Moominmamma may or may not have added to when she noticed your penchant for feeling small before bed.
Snufkin takes one of the blankets, a colourful, quilted thing, and drapes it across your shoulders.
"There," He says. "Snug as a bug."
You giggle pulling the blanket in tighter around you.
"Now, if I tell you a story, do you promise to try to sleep?" Snufkin asks, raising an eyebrow. You hum an affirmative and he nods, leaning back against the pillows and tucking you in next to him.
"It was a cold night on the lonely mountains..."
And as Snufkin's voice recites stories of long-gone Winters, you feel yourself drifting off to sleep. Carried by melodic words, and ready to dream of great mountains, and starry skies.

Been a fan of your fics for YEARS. I was just telling my friend how despite how much I read fics I never actually love them, with some of your fics (especially TMA) as the exception. Felt the need to reread some of them and saw you reblogged some ISAT fanart. So. Any thoughts on ISAT you'd like to share?
Hope you have a wonderful day!! So happy I found your fics again!!
I avoided answering this for a while because I was trying to think of a way to cohesively and coherently vocalize my thoughts on In Stars and Time. I have given up because I don't want to hold everybody here all day and I have accepted that my thoughts are just pterodactyl screeching.
I love it so much. I have so much to say on it. It drove me bonkers for like a week straight. I have AUs. It's absolute Megbait. They're just a little Snufkin and they're having the worst experience of anybody's life. Ludonarratives my fucking beloved.
I am going to talk about the prologue.
The prologue is such a fascinating experience. You crack open the game and immediately begin checking off all of the little genre boxes: mage, warrior, researcher, you're the rogue...some little kid who's there for some reason...alright, you know the score. You're in yet another indie Earthbound RPG, these are your generic characters, let's get the ball rolling.
Except then you realize that these characters are people. You feel instantly how you've entered the game at its last dungeon, at the end of the adventure. They have their own in-jokes, histories, backgrounds, adventures. They get along well and they're obviously close, but not in a twee or unrealistic way. They have so much chemistry and spirit and life. I fell in love with them so quickly.
But Sif doesn't. Sif kind of hates them, because they will not stop saying the same damn thing. They walk the same paths, do the same things, make the same jokes, expect Sif to say the same lines. They keep referencing a Sif we do not see, with jokes we never see him make and heroic personality he never shows - they reference a Sif who is dead - and Sif can't handle that, so he kills them too.
They become only an exercise in tedious frustration. Sif button mashes through their dialogue, Sif mindlessly clicks the same dialogue options, Sif skips through the tutorial, Sif blows through the puzzles. Sif turns their world into a video game. Sif is playing a generic RPG. Sif forgets their names. They are no longer people with in-jokes, histories, backgrounds, adventures. They're the mage, the warrior, the researcher, and...some random kid.
I did not understand the Kid's presence at first. I had no idea what they contributed to the game. They didn't do anything. As a party member in a video game, they're a bit useless. Why is the Kid there?
Because Sif's life isn't a video game. Because the kid isn't 'the kid'. They're Bonnie. Bonnie, who the party loves. Why is Bonnie there? Because they love them. There is no room for Bonnie in the boring RPG that Sif is playing. And then you realize that Sif is wrong, and that they've lost something extremely important, and that they'll never escape without it.
Watching the prologue before watching ISAT gave ISAT the most unique air of dread and horror, because you crack open ISAT and you see the person Sif used to be. You realize that Sif used to be a person. Sif used to be the person who made jokes, who gave real smiles, who interacted with the world as if they are a part of it. And you know you are sitting down to watch Sif lose everything that made them a person, to lose everything that made them a member of this world, and turn them into a character in a video game who doesn't understand the point of Bonnie at all.
At the climax of the game, when the others realize that something is deeply wrong and that Sif physically cannot tell them, they realize that there is nothing they can do. So Bonnie declares snacktime. And for the first time they have snacktime.
What is snacktime? Classic JRPGs don't have snacktime. There's literally no point to a snacktime - not in a video game, and not in Sif's terrible life. It's not fixing this, because nothing can fix this. But Bonnie gives Sif a cookie and Sif eats it.
It's meaningless. It's a cutscene. It didn't save Sif and it didn't change a thing. It will make no difference in the end.
But it did make the difference. It made all of the difference in the world. Bonnie is a character who you really don't understand the point of before you realize that Bonnie was the entire point.
ISAT is about comfort media. Why do we play the same video games over and over again? Why do we avoid watching the finale of our favorite shows? What is truly comforting: a story with no conflict, or a story where you always know what is about to happen? Do you want to live in a scary, uncontrollable world, or do you want to play Stardew Valley? Do you want a person or a character?
When I beat Earthbound for the first time (and if you don't know, the prologue/ISAT battle system is just Mother) and watched the ending cutscene where the characters part ways and say goodbye...I felt a little bit sad. I wanted them to be together forever. But that's something only characters could ever be.
#these aren't deep or unique thoughts they're just the specific aspect of ISAT that made it one of the most interesting gaming experiences#i actually like the prologue much more than ISAT for just this reason#its honestly a video game art piece that's created to give the player a very specific experience#that makes them an aspect of the narrative that is told#it's. incredible.#in stars and time#start again start again start again#start again: a prologue#isat#god and there is so so so so much more to say here#what a rich and complex and fascinating game that made me cry like a baby#i dont even kin sif. we arent similar at all.#i cant imagine how devastating this game would have been if i did#but I do have a deep relationship with escapsim#and i write about it a lot#and video games about being video games are wonderful#as are stories about being stories#and why we consume stories. how we use them. how they save us and hurt us.#never played a video game that used its medium so well#i bet undertales also pretty good at that but this is more so i think#stories about stories have to be about why we love stories#and im not an artsy person and i roll my eyes a bit when people talk about the spiritual neccesity of art#i think people need stories because the world is sad and hard and boring and we want to think about something else for a while.#some people need to be anywhere but here#and sometimes if you're Lil Depressed-Ass Snufkin that looks like being here forever#baby cringe-ass snufkin big hat idiot

hi!! would you be able to do a fic of snufkin taking care of a sick regressor? if you could make the regressor aged 3-4 that would be great!! tysm!!!!!!
Of course! I'm so sorry this took so long, I was actually feeling pretty unwell myself so I was struggling to get any writing done. I also have emetophobia so I had to be a little vague with the illness I hope that's okay ʕ`•̥ᴥ•̥`ʔ
I really like how this came out though and I hope you do too! <3
Snufkin Cares for Sick Little Reader <3
It's been a long couple of days. You figured you were safe from sickness as the weather warmed, but unfortunately the Valley had other ideas. Stuck in bed while the others went off to play and seek adventure had you grumbly and moodier than usual.
It just wasn't fair! How come you are the only one who can't get their limbs to cooperate when you try to get up and walk around? And that was without mentioning the fever and icky tummy.
But Moomin has promised today will be different. He and the others have gone into the woodland to find a rare plant Moominmama spied in Granny's notes that will hopefully bring your temperature down and give you a little more energy.
Snufkin had volunteered to stay back and take care of you. When asked if he was sure (he did have the best eye for plants among the group after all), he pointed them in the direction of the Hemulen (who's eye was even better than his when it came to flora and fauna) and said he was needed more by your side today.
You hadn't known what he meant by that until you felt it. That telltale fuzzy feeling in the back of your mind.
Everything is just so hard right now. You're tired and achy and nothing feels good to eat and all you want to do is cry and stomp your feet.
You're regressing.
It shouldn't be a surprise - days of feeling icky and not being able to play with your friends? A recipe for disaster. Luckily, Snufkin had noticed and appointed himself caregiver for the day.
"It's okay to let go." He says, eyes tilted towards the sky as you both lay out on the grass, cushions from Moominmama propping you up and keeping you comfortable while the gentle breeze attempts to wash your fever away. "I'm here. I've got you."
You feel the tears well up as soon as he finishes speaking. Any resistance you might've felt melts away and you allow yourself to feel miserable in the only way a toddler knows how. You let the tears fall with a whimper and soon you're cradled against a soft green coat, rocking in a soothing motion while you wail.
"I know, I know little one." Snufkin coos. "You've been so brave, haven't you? I know it hurts but I just know you'll feel better soon."
He places a small kiss against your head, and keeps talking when the tears slow.
"And when you do, we'll go on as many adventures as you'd like. To the beach, to the woods, even soaring through the sky. Anything you can dream up, angel."
"Da others be there?" You question, one hand rubbing at your eyes and the other clutching at Snufkin's coat as if scared he might disappear.
Snufkin chuckles and takes over wiping away your tears, much gentler than you yourself had been. He produces a pacifier from his pocket and clips it to your own clothes, giving you the comfort of knowing it's there without pressuring you to use it if you aren't quite feeling young enough.
"Yes, the others will be back as soon as they can be. And you know they love to play with you, whatever age you feel on the inside. I bet each of them has an idea for an adventure, we can ask them later if you'd like?"
You nod quickly, then pout when your head hurts at the motion.
"Owie."
Snufkin kisses your forehead with sympathetic eyes.
"I know, sweet one. Do you think you could manage some soup? I made some earlier and it might help hydrate you more than water. I'd hope it'd be tastier too." He adds, noting your scrunched nose at the mention of water. It feels like all you've been doing these past days is drinking water.
You nod slowly, hoping the food goes down well this time. If Snufkin says it's a good idea, you're going to believe him.
You didn't, however, factor in the fact your friend would have to get up to fetch the food.
A whine passes your lips and you cling on even tighter to his coat.
"Nuh uh! Snuf'in stay!" You protest. Snufkin hushes you, stroking your hair till you calm a little.
"Easy, sweetheart." He coos again. "I'll be right back. Count to ten for me, okay?"
You do so reluctantly, counting between shaky breathes the longer Snufkin is away from you. He smiles encouragingly as he emerges from his tent, large flask in hand.
"There." He says, plopping back beside you before you've even reached the number ten. "I'm so proud of you, little one. I know that was hard."
You get another kiss to your head for your efforts and you can't help the smile that overtakes you. Snukin is proud of you!
"There's that sweet smile." Snufkin says, smiling back as he opens the lid of the flask and pours some soup into it. "Now, I'm going to hold this, just sip carefully okay? And we'll see how you feel once you've tried some."
The task sounds simple enough, and you nod your head with determination. Snufkin boops your nose, and then lifts the soup to your mouth for you to take the first sip.
It's DELICIOUS.
Your eyes widen and Snufkin pulls the lid back as you attempt to gulp all of it down at once.
"Ah ah, not so fast." He says. "I'm glad you like it, but you have to take it easy at first, okay?"
You pout, but nod. Snufkin giggles.
"Okay." He says, bringing the soup to your mouth again.
You sip much more slowly this time, basking in the warmth of the food and the ache in your head fading into the background.
When you can't drink anymore, Snufkin closes the flask and rolls it away from you both, pulling you in to snuggle against him again.
"Now. I think a nap is in order, then by the time you wake up the others should be here to help you feel all better. How's that sound?"
At your clear hesitation, Snufkin continues.
"We can take a nap right here beneath the sky. Together."
You smile and hum in confirmation, allowing Snufkin to lower you both onto the cushions. He tucks your head under his chin, curling into one another, and begins to hum.
The tune isn't a familar one, most likely taking inspiration from the wind, the rustling leaves, the bubble of the stream not so far away.
It sounds like home, and you allow yourself to drift, knowing you are safe, and you are loved.

Unrealistic things I need if- when MV2019 will do Moominpappa's memoirs
-A cool/dramatic introduction for Joxter, he could act silly but I think it'd be cool if he pretended to be mysterious just to mess with Moomin(pappa)
-Muddler being treated properly as a character and not just someone to make fun of/add to the comedy
-The crew messing around and Hodgkins being the mom of the group
-Young Mymble not looking just like a shrunken version of her 3d model and not have 2d emotions
-Joxter being a cat
-Joxter's pupils being cat-like (and they get big when he sees someone he likes- jk that's just my opinion)
-I. NEED. EMOTIONS. when they finally meet/fall in love with their future partners
-The family reunions in the end!! ESPECIALLY Joxter and Snufkin
-References to Snufkin's backstory while Moominpappa is explaining the story
-CRIME TIME
