Me: "I know Gia isn't going to be evil; everyone's just suspecting her because they don't think they can trust anyone in this show, and they've been conditioned."
Also Me: "But wait...this whole thing has been very Spy-Thriller. Every Spy Thriller has a Betrayal. There's always a Betrayal. Someone gives them information, they go in, and then a bunch of people with guns show up and our heroes are trapped. You know this game. You know how it ends."
Also Also Me: "But not this one. She's gonna be fine."

It's gonna be so messy when the others find out Brooklynn is alive.
Like, it's the second time someone in the group is believed dead but then turns out to be alive, yeah, but the situations are completely different. Ben was quite literally snatched away —in front of their very eyes— by a Pteranodon and separated from them. They thought he was dead, and he thought he was alone at the island and stuck on one side of the jungle at first if I recall, so not like he had a choice at first when it came to tell them; he didn't know they were still in the island too until he overheard Mitch and Tiff, I believe. And the others were obviously shocked to see he was alive, but were super happy rather quickly.
Now, Brooklynn? Yeah, they will definitely be shocked at the fact that she's alive. And happy, too, I guess. But they're also gonna be angry, and with reason. Because Brooklynn wasn't snatched away and all. It's not a "oh, we thought we watched you die but you were just separated from us and you're alive" situation like Ben's. Brooklynn literally faked her death. And how long has it been? Months? Nearly a year? She never contacted any of them to tell them the truth in all that time, she let them believe that she was dead. Like, okay, we know there's a good reason why she did that, and I'm sure she'll explain everything and they'll end up understanding. But that obviously won't take away the trauma, and the pain the rest of the group felt while they were grieving her, not at all.
So, yeah, while there might be one or two members of the Camp Fam that might understand and forgive easily, I'm pretty sure that the others —most of all Kenji and Darius— are gonna be pissed at first, most of all considering that Kenji for example was already questioning how many things she had been hiding from them, and now it turns out that she hides that she's alive too. And Darius' deal-- man, I'm sure they're probably going to show flashbacks or at least elaborate on the whole living together thing, and that he fell for her and somehow she found out and how Darius thought it was unrequited and that's why apparently didn't show up that night-- yeah, Darius' reaction and the whole dynamic between those two when she returns is gonna be pretty interesting.
Anyway, the whole deal is gonna be a mess and I'll be delighted to watch lmao.

Part of my Camp Cretaceous season 4 and 5 AU. Here Darius and Brooklyn find a photo on the yacht, showing Mitch, Tiff, Daniel, and Mila. It was dated for one month before the campers went to Isla Nublar, and that Mr. Kon was in touch with the poachers for an unknown job. The two also soon discover that Mila is Kenji's mother who he claimed died a few years ago. But what is the truth?
*Mitch Lang and Tiff Lang are running some operation for Mr. Kon. They are to begin once they get the go from Mr. Kon. *Photo taken somewhere inland by Kash Lang(most likely their son?) *Mila is Daniel's wife. She is said to have died at least 4 years ago after a car accident that Daniel managed to survive.  *Mila was known to collect various cultural outfits and objects, her style varying on her mood.
AU OVERVIEW- The Campers have finally escaped Isla Nublar and are heading toward what they believe to be Costa Rica. But an unexpected turn of events leaves the six shipwrecked on an island full of secrets, mysteries, and threats they have never encountered before.
SCENE SCRIPT-
Darius: What’s that?
Brooklyn jumps slightly and pulls back. Darius can now see the image that they found below, with its edge now folded.
Darius: Do you know who they are?
Brooklyn: No, but you said he looks like Kenji’s father. Maybe there’s some relation?
She points to the man holding onto a woman, his face stone cold but looking like a person you respect. His hair was graying and an ebony tablet was in his other hand.
Brooklyn: Wonder what he was doing? Did our poachers know him at some point?
Darius goes closer, looking over all the details, then takes the photo and flips it over. On the back, he sees a small text written in the top left. It is barely noticeable and written in scratchy handwriting.
Brooklyn: I must have missed that.
Darius: November 8, 2015. Taken at-- I can’t read that part, their handwriting is too messed up.
Brooklyn: The 8th was about a month before Jurassic World fell. So this is very recent and they all met not too long ago.
Darius(reading): Mitch Lang, Tiff Lang, Daniel Kon, Mila Kon, and the image is taken by Kash Lang.
Brooklyn quietly breathes in surprise.
Brooklyn: That is Kenji’s father! We called it! Wait! Is that his mother too?
Brooklyn stares down at the photo, taking in the woman.
Brooklyn: She looks like him. They have the same facial expression when being forced to do something. Mrs. Kon must not like to stand for pictures.
Brooklyn says a few more things, but Darius doesn’t seem to hear them. Brooklyn shakes his arm and he looks at her.
Brooklyn: That’s Kenji’s mother! Ha! Not what I- What’s wrong?
Darius: Kenji… he… he told me that--
Darius: -his mother is dead.
Brooklyn takes a moment to register what he said, but once it does she looks sick. She glances back down at the photo, then back up.
Brooklyn: His parents wouldn’t lie to him? No one could do that to their kid.
Darius: Kenji said back when we first met that his mother died a few years ago. I think it was from a car wreck. He told me-
Kenji: (cuts in with a tired voice and a yawn) I told you what?

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (Gender Neutral Reader Insert)
Chapter 17: Revival
<- Previous Next ->
Tumblr media
The first thing you think of when you regain your consciousness is how dry your mouth is. Your tongue darts out to wet your lips, despite the better part of your brain warning you that it'd only worsen it. Yet, as soon as that thought crosses your mind, you spring up into a sitting position.
You don't feel much at first, still confusingly taking in the familiar surroundings of camp. Where was everyone? Why were you in your stiff bed? Where's your sweater? Then, you feel a pinch. It's so sudden you can't help but grimace. Reaching a hand up, you search for the source of the uncomfortable feeling, only for your blood to run cold as your hand makes contact with your face.
It's wrapped in bandages. At least most of the right side of your face is, and there's padding taped to the bridge of your nose as well. It feels uncomfortable, especially with the sweat dripping down your face. You briefly push against the bandage on your nose, wincing at the dull pain it produces. So, this isn't a dream then.
Nausea builds in your stomach, and the chills running down your spine aren't helping. Placing a single foot on the floor, you nearly jump out of your skin when you hear breathing. You see a figure next to your leg, but with the haze your mind is in, you can't quite make out who it is. Someone with dark hair, but that fits the description of a lot of your fellow campers, doesn't it? When they don't move, you continue your slow journey out of bed, assuming they're asleep. It's strange, though, since it's still bright out. Though you can't really judge.
Something builds in your throat, and you stumble towards the railing of the treehouse. Your hands grasp the wood desperately, putting all your weight onto the structure as your legs grow weak. You feel like you're on fire, especially on your face. Not to mention the ache in your head. You heave out heavy breaths, icy shivers running down your body. Why did you feel like this? Why were you only in your black tank top? Actually, you forgot you wore that under your sweater. Maybe Kenji was weirded out because you wore two shirts, and that's why he was giving you that odd stare. Maybe–
Oh, you're throwing up now. God, that tastes disgusting. There's a mixture of breakfast and blood, creating a horrible concoction of memories. That bastard Mitch, the hellcat Tiff, and the optimist, Darius. Your eye leaves the grass below, instead looking into the surrounding jungle. You feel like you’ll see something, so you continue to search the treeline.
There's a sound next to you, perhaps a voice, and yet you continue to focus on the treeline. Maybe you'll see a red glint, or maybe you'll only see the barrel of a gun. Maybe you won't get a visual warning. Maybe all you'll hear is the click, click, click as he adjusts the scope. Or perhaps you'll hear and see nothing at all, and in lieu, you'll be shot dead without any warning. Is he coming back to finish the job? Where is he? You know he's out there. He's out there somewhere, his gun filled with bullets that'll rip your skin to shreds.
Someone grabs your chin, pulling your face away from the treeline and towards them instead. However, those hands are forceful, and they pull against the skin hidden beneath your bandages, and so you yelp. Maybe if you noticed how pitiful it sounded, you would be embarrassed. However, all you can do is stare at the person who touched you. At least you believe it's a person. They back away, hands held up as if you had hurt them and not the other way around. They might look like someone you know, a certain superstar, perhaps?
But you can't really focus on them, not when they're morphing into someone different. Someone dangerous. You see it, the red glint. And when you hear the click, click, click, and watch them take a step towards you; you're running all over again. But not for long, not this time. This time, your legs fail you, and your brain doesn't register the change in direction quickly enough. So, your legs get caught on each other, and you fall. First, hitting your head onto what must be your bed frame and then crumbling onto the ground in pain.
And the burning increases, more than you thought was possible. Now, the right side of your face is boiling and wet with what you hope is only sweat. You're not sure which side of your face hit the frame, but it hurts like hell either way. You're tempted to tear into the bandages and rip your flesh off if only the burning would stop. It needs to stop. You can't handle it. But it won't stop, and the poacher comes closer and closer, until–
A gentle hand touches your shoulder, forcing a flinch out of your curled up form. You're sure it's just the bastard playing with you until a familiar voice hits your ears. The sound is clearer than anything else, and you begin to wonder if the muffled noises were all in your head. The voice murmurs your name, slowly, as if they weren't sure it was yours. And that's all it takes for you to peek up at the culprit.
It's Ben. How is it Ben? Were you dead? But that wouldn't make sense. You can still feel that fiery pain, so there's no way this is the afterlife. Plus, he looks… different. This can't be Ben. This can't be your Ben. Because your Ben would never tear his blue polo and turn it into a makeshift headband. And he wouldn't allow himself to be covered in dirt, and he wouldn't tie pieces of bark onto his arms to act as armor, and he wouldn't be looking at you with his brows furrowed in concern. Because your Ben is dead.
And yet, you allow him to help you up. You allow him to hold you against the railing as you empty your stomach once more, and you allow him to keep a firm grip on you as your legs fail you once more. Because you want this to be your Ben. You hope it's your Ben. If it isn't Ben, if your Ben's still rotting somewhere on the other side of this island, you wouldn't be able to keep going. Because you want to die with Ben. You wish you died with Ben.
So, you allow yourself to feel the joy of leaning back against the boy who may be Ben. Who you hope dearly is Ben. You know that if it really is Ben, he might struggle considering the height difference between you two, but despite that, you can't help it. Because everything around you is dimming, and you can't hold onto the railing anymore, and - you're passing out, aren't you? That isn't good, you think. You might have a serious brain injury if you're this messed up. But, you ignore those thoughts because you think Ben might be the one holding you. And that's enough to quell your worries.
The next time you awaken, you're in a much better state of mind. The haze has lifted enough for you to see your fellow campers as they are. It's darker now, the sun leaving the sky faster than you'd like it to. Still, your eye, singular now, searches the treeline every once in a while. Brooklynn has to continuously draw your attention back towards her as she shines a flashlight into your eye. She nearly grabs your face again but thinks better of it at your already fearful expression.
Your name falls from that boy’s lips again, and you find yourself staring at him. He must be Ben. It's only logical. But logic has gotten you nowhere on this island, so you can't help but think otherwise. He holds an air of confidence rather than fear, and it confuses you to no end. What happened to Ben?
With a click, Brooklynn turns off the flashlight wearing a disappointed expression. The sound pulls you into your mind, if only for a second, until your arm is being tugged.
“I got you some water!” Sammy smiles, holding a mug over your bed. You don't return the gesture.
Instead, you turn your head away from her, ogling Ben. The boy in question simply shakes his head, facing the rest of the group with an uneasy look.
“You're sure it's not a concussion?” He asks, shifting from one foot to another.
You can't help but glare at him despite the pain that comes with lowering your brows. You weren't concussed. Why did he think that? He didn't get to think that of you.
“Well, they can move their eyes around fine, so I don't think so.” Brooklynn answers, observing your change in expression. “Also, they heard that.”
The boy at least has the decency to look guilty.
“I'm fine.” You force the words out of your mouth, ignoring the burning pain that follows as the skin on your face contorts.
No one can look you in the eye. They all shift their gaze to the ground or pretend to be busy with something else. It's irritating. Why were they acting like that?
“I am.” You huff, surveying the varying looks of guilt, pity, or a mix of both.
“Look,” Ben speaks up. “When I… when I found you, you weren't in good condition.”
You can't help but scoff at him, causing him to grow defensive.
“You weren't! You were bleeding from your nose, your face, your neck! If I didn't get there when I did, the Compies would have eaten you alive!”
“Ben!” Sammy shouts disapprovingly.
You stay silent, taking your eye off him for the first time since you woke up again.
“I think the Compies are why you're alive.” Darius says suddenly, troubled eyes latched onto your form.
“What?” You mutter, not entirely sure you heard him right.
“They have a small amount of venom in their bite, which must've numbed the pain for you, even just a little bit.” He stares at the bandage on your neck, and you start missing the coverage your sweater provided you.
“That might be why you didn't go into shock.” Brooklynn guesses, hand wandering towards your neck.
Harsher than you'd like, you swat her hand away, inching towards Sammy as an alternative. Still, you feel trapped. They're all looking at you in such an unfamiliar way; it makes your skin crawl. You wish they'd stop looking at you. You wish they'd never look at you again.
“We'll leave you alone.” Ben states, walking towards the ladder of the treehouse. If you weren't so angry at him, you'd be thankful.
“We will?” Kenji asks worriedly, peering at you as if you'd disappear in the blink of an eye.
“We will.” Ben leaves no room for argument as he turns back only to grab Kenji by the collar of his shirt and drag him along. It's a funny image considering how much taller Kenji is, but you can't find any humor in this situation. There's the utterance of your name, and you glance towards Brooklynn, who stays crouched in front of you.
“You, uh, started bleeding again, so I'll have to change your wrappings.” She frowns apologetically.
You don't say anything for a second, and then two, and then you're simply nodding your head. You still feel alienated, but the lack of eyes on you makes you feel a bit better about her messing with your head wrappings.
Brooklynn's quiet as she gathers a medkit, and grabs the mug of water off your bed before placing it on the ground below. As you watch her pull the bandages from the small, red bag, you feel dread building within you. You knew she probably already saw your wound, but the fact that she's seen it, and you haven't, despite being the owner of said wound, fills you with a sense of helplessness. When Brooklynn reaches up to grab the bandages wrapped around your skull, you wrench yourself away from her hands.
“What?” Brooklynn shrieks quietly, scared she had hurt you.
“Can't I do it?” You ask.
“Do you know how?”
A frown etches itself onto your face.
“I could teach you,” Brooklynn offers. “It'd be a lot easier if I could show you my ‘Brooklynn Unboxes: Medical Assistance’ video, but I can just use you as your own example.”
She grabs some medical gloves from the pack, along with more gauze and a pair of scissors. Then, she carefully reaches towards the bandages on the far left side of your head after putting on the gloves.
“I'm going to cut this gauze off, and then I'll wrap your head up like new.” She explains, placing a finger between the wrappings and your head to make sure she doesn't accidentally cut your hair. “And when you do it yourself, you have to make sure you stuff your oculi area so it can heal from the inside out. It'll also stop it from bleeding too much in case you open it again.”
It's a bit painful as the bandages press against the opposite side, but you hold in any complaints in fear of her messing up. With a snip, she gently pulls the dressings away from your head, and the sticky globs of blood that hold onto the dressing make you sick. You quickly close your eye, not wanting to gain any ideas on how severe your wound may be. Maybe later, when you're not trying to hold in puke.
Brooklynn says nothing as she redresses the wound, even when you groan in pain as she stuffs the area your right eye used to be in. When she's finished redressing your wound, she's still completely hushed. Opening your eye, you find her staring back at you in what you assume to be penitence.
“I'm sorry for scaring you earlier.” She whispers.
You tear your gaze away from her, peeved at the very suggestion. “You didn't scare me.”
“Did someone else scare you?” She questions. And maybe she meant it to be more of a sarcastic joke, but your silence turns it into the truth. She calls your name, waiting until you meet her eyes again before continuing. “Who scared you?”
“What happened to Mitch and Tiff?” You ask rather than answer her question.
“They're…” Brooklynn pauses, as if she didn't know herself. “...Mitch is dead.”
“What about Tiff?”
“She got away.” Her eyes begin to water. “In, um, in the boat we were supposed to leave in.”
“It got here early?” You ask, befuddled.
“No, it was here the whole time. The whole waiting thing was a lie.”
You go quiet at that. Of course, you always doubted everything they said, but the very idea that a way out of the island was so close forces a shaky exhale from you. Was it all pointless? If you had fought just a little harder, yelled just a little louder, would the others have listened to you? Would you be riding in Mitch and Tiff's boat, already halfway to Costa Rica?
Brooklynn places a hand on your shoulder before pulling you into a hug. She's careful not to put any pressure on a certain side of your head, shoving her face into the nook between your neck and your collarbone.
“I'm sorry.” She whimpers, and the wetness on your neck gives you the idea that she's crying.
“It's not your fault.” You wrap your arms around her. Even though she's the one trying to comfort you, it feels more like you're the one comforting her.
“No, I'm…” she stutters, air evading her as tears keep falling. “I'm just sorry.”
You don't feel the need to respond after that. Rather, you wait until her sobs die down before pushing her away from you softly.
“You should go to sleep.” It’s more so a command than a suggestion, but Brooklynn takes it kindly.
“You too.” She smiles tiredly, hands still gripping your shoulders. With a final hug, the girl pulls away from you. “Do you need any more blankets?”
“I'll be fine.” You reply.
You'd rather not tell her that you're already sweating out of your mind. It's died down since the first time you woke up, but you can still feel the occasional chill run across your skin as you sweat like it's 100 degrees outside. And, who knows, maybe it is. But considering the fact that Brooklynn's still wearing her pink jacket without any trouble, you're sure it's just you that's experiencing this heat.
Brooklynn leaves with one final smile before she's walking to a nearby bed and plopping down without another word. You're actually a little impressed she fell asleep that fast, but considering the fact she's had to dress your grotesque wound twice in a day, you can't blame her. And your wound might not be grotesque, but you're assuming it is. Because if you trick yourself into believing it's better than it is, you'll actually go into shock once you see the actual thing.
Again, your mind wanders to different looks your wound might have, and you have to twist your body within your bed to draw your mind away from it. You focus on the dull pain inside your head, accompanied by the burning sting your actual wound holds. No matter how you angle your head, the pain persists. In the end, you give up on being comfortable, instead sitting still in your bed as you await the merciful hand of sleep to pull you in. It's quiet, even as you hear everyone climbing back up into the treehouse.
“They didn't drink the water.” Given the accent, you can only assume that's Sammy’s voice. Along with the fact that she's the one who handed you the water in the first place.
“It's fine.” Yasmina, you believe, reassures her.
Sammy lets out a whine, and you begin to regret not drinking it if only so she'd let it go.
There's some minor shuffling as everyone gets situated in their own beds, all but Darius and Ben. Luckily, you're facing away from everyone, so you listen in on their situation. It's really not your fault since they're talking so loudly.
“You might have to sleep with Bumpy,” Darius admits. “Since we didn't think you, um–”
“It's fine, I was going to sleep with Bumpy anyway.” Ben brushes off his distress.
“Are you sure?” Darius's voice is full of perplexity.
“Yeah, why not?”
“...” Darius goes quiet, and you think he may be waiting for Ben to say it himself before giving up. “I mean, Bumpy's sleeping down there on the grass.”
“Yeah.” Ben confirms.
“In the dark.”
“Uh huh.” Ben's probably nodding his head.
“And you're alright with that?”
“Indubitably.” Ben seems unbothered, and it concerns you as well.
“You really are different.” Darius utters.
“I've gotta be.” Ben says happily, despite his words being a bit grim.
“Okay, get some sleep, Ben.” Darius ends the conversation with that, likely making his way towards his own bed.
There's some final shuffling as Darius enters his bed, and after that, it's silent. You begin to grow concerned, especially since Ben said he was going to sleep with Bumpy, and yet you never heard him move. Was he waiting for everyone to go to sleep? Was he staying up to keep watch? That wasn't like him. He wasn't acting like he should at all. Why–
Footsteps, heading your way, nearly bring your heart to a stop. Has he realized that you're awake? Is he going to scold you? Actually, that shouldn't be too scary. He's just Ben. But then again, this Ben is different from the one you know. Everyone else is acting like it's normal, most likely because they grew familiar with his new attitude while you were unconscious. But it isn't normal, and you refuse to act like it is.
The footsteps stop at your bed, and you have to stop yourself from holding your breath lest you give yourself away. Ben huffs, before taking a seat on your bed. You'd be offended if you weren't so confused. What was he doing?
Your brain nearly short circuits when you feel his back pressing against yours. Was he… sleeping with you? But he said he was sleeping with Bumpy. Why would he lie about that to Darius?
“I'm sorry.” He whispers.
Your breath quickens briefly before evening out.
“I shouldn't have yelled at you.” He mutters with a tone of regret. “I was just scared.”
You purse your lips as you clutch your bed sheets tightly. This was your Ben. You know now.
“You were so bloody when I found you, I wasn't sure you were even alive still. But I picked you up anyway, and–” His breath hitches. “I thought you were gone.”
Your eye waters, brimming with tears.
“You probably thought the same thing about me.”
You did. You thought you'd only ever be able to see him in your dreams from then on. You thought you'd have to die in order to feel him once more. And now, you feel his warmth against your spine, and you have to hold in your sobs.
“I shouldn't have waited, I should've told you guys what Mitch and Tiff were planning.” You think he might be crying too. “Now, you're…”
He pauses, shoulders bumping into yours a few times as sobs rack his body. He's quiet throughout this, even though you know he's dying to scream his troubles out to the world; out to you.
“I missed you.”
The dam breaks, and you can't hold in your sniffles anymore. But it's alright, because Ben's in the same boat. You know he's heard you by now, but he doesn't mention it. He doesn't turn you around and order you to forget everything he's said, he doesn't stop crying in an attempt to pretend he didn't just spill his heart out to you, he doesn't do anything but cry with you. And perhaps that makes the realization that he's Ben, your Ben, so much more real. Because only your Ben could share these feelings with you while you were both turned away from each other. Only your Ben could help you fall asleep with the distraction of his kind warmth.
Only your Ben could miss you as much as you missed him.

Hear me out; I think it's a cool theory/idea that the campers all died. The rest of this post might be a bit dark btw
Really think about it. As the seasons progress, they definitely shouldn't have lasted so long because they're just kids. Here's how I think each kid did/should've died.
Ben: pteranadons, or Toro (s2)
Sammy: Mitch and Tiff, or scorpious
Yaz: drowing (s3 e6)
Brooklyn: killed by Wu/Wu's guards
Kenji: monolophosaurus, mossosaurus (s4), illness (s4), or earthquake (s5)
Darius: sole survivor.
In season 2 episode 1, we see how real Darius' dreams can be when he imagines Ben on Main Street. It's not entirely impossible that he would imagine his friends with him to combat the extreme loneliness and grief he feels after losing them, especially after he tries so hard to get them to safety.
So, what if Darius imagined the majority of the events in seasons 3, 4, and 5? A big point, is that he may have imagined his (dead) friends saving each other at the points where another friend dies. He could imagine Yaz getting the antidote to Sammy, instead of drowning in the dangerous current of the river. Or he could have imagined this big story for Ben and how he survived since he believed Ben's death was his fault. In season 4 episode 1, what if Kenji's hatred for Darius is because Darius actually got Brooklyn killed by Dr. Wu's men? And then, after Kenji thinks of what Brooklyn would want, he dies trying to save Darius from the mossosaurus?
I think that, if my theory were correct, then Darius' guilt would drive him to insanity, and he would imagine a world where he could save his friends and actually get them off of the island.
This would also explain why seasons 4 and 5 don't feel as connected to the first 3, because Darius made up this adventure on a new island to cope with the loss of his friends. Everything is so connected because Darius' mind is tying up loose ends, creating stories from what his friends told him before they died. He imagines storylines for them based on their interactions with him and the other campers, and gave them all happy endings.
I also think that could explain why the time jump wasn't great at the end of season 5. Ben looked different because he died first, Darius couldn't remember his eye color or the little details as well as he could for the others. And, Darius knew more about the imagined version of Ben (Jungle Ben) than he did season 1 Ben, which is why he stayed with Mae and Bumpy on the island. Sammy wears the same shirt all those years later because Darius didn't imagine a new look for her. Kenji moved in because Darius didn't know enough about Kenji's family to envision a life after the island, so he put him into the Bowmans' house.
Obviously, this theory isn't true, but it's interesting to think about. I'd glady go more in-depth if anyone would want to hear that.

This is my camp cretaceous fanfic, the story is not super AU, but it not also an EXACT mirror of the show itself. I really liked this show so I decided to write myself into it. My character's name is Geleel, and even though he is an OC, I like to think I did a good job in writing his relationships with the different campers well.
(The order I posted the links to the story are the other in which you are supposed to read them if you want to.)

JWCC S5:E8 Thoughts
When did kenji change clothes??
God stop talking about kenji being a loyal son… that’s not inherently a good trait! Gah!
Daniel is a bitch 👍🏼
I adore Mae’s necklace… I’d get it for myself if I could. She’s so pretty ahhh. Yes I’m lesbian why do you ask
Good for you kenji. Keep having those individual thoughts. You’ll get there!
The funny thing about being a JWCC fan and not knowing anything about the main franchise or dinosaurs in general is that I see a cool Dino and go “holy shit it’s the one with the big crest on its head!!” Instead of the paralosophaurus or something
Oh shit, Mitch and Tiff’s camp! Never thought I’d see them referenced again.
Aww kenji always wanted a dog and Daniel never gave a shit… in my sadgirl hours again
Eww I can just imagine the rotting triceratops head. Blegh. This show does a good job of maintaining tension while keeping the gore offscreen.
Why is this Hap-lookalike guard still alive?? He’s gonna die at some point, isn’t he?
BUMPY NOOO my baby got mind controlled I’m so upset right now. Oh my god.

"It hasn't been every adult….has it?" Sammy asks, glancing around the group. She ducks her head as she avoids Yazs' eyes.
"Hey…hey guys. Are you okay?" Darius asks, trying to get up. Yaz tightens her grip, only loosening it once Darius stops trying and leans back against her.
"We're fine. You are not." Brooklyn says, pointing at him.
"I'm not hurt." Darius protests. "Yaz picked me up and got me out."
"He's eating first from now on." Yaz cuts in, frowning down at him. "I'm strong, but carrying you was way too easy."
"Alphas feed their pack first." Darius shoots back.
"And their young." Sammy points out, flinching back when Darius glares at her.
"We're getting off track." Kenji cuts in, quietly. "She wasn't talking about physical pain, D."
"I don't wanna talk about it." Darius mumbles.
"Too bad, we're talking about it anyway." Brooklyn says.
"Darius, don't push away from us, please." Sammy says, hugging herself.
"Darius?" Yaz says.
"It's….you guys really hadn't realized?" Darius shifts, looking around at his friends, his Pack. They all shake their heads. "Every adult has either left us or tried to kill us."
"I still don't think it's every adult." Sammy says, shifting to lean against Kenji, who's stretched his legs out. "I mean, yeah, Mitch and Tiff, but ain't it just them?"
"I never did like those two." Brooklyn mutters from where she's laying down, her legs over Kenjis' and her head in Sammys' lap.
"Which was the right call and I should have…" Darius stops abruptly.
"Trusted my judgement?" Brooklyn says. "That's in the past, but we're asking you to trust us now, let us into your head."
"Not everything in your head, you can keep the dino facts." Kenji says.
"Afraid you'll get a headache from all the thinking you're not used to?" Yaz jokes, raising an eyebrow.
"Har de har. You're so funny." Kenji scowls at her, before they all laugh.
"C'mon, D. Spill the deets." Brooklyn says once they calm down.
"That birthday dude. On Nublar." Darius mutters.
"Oh yeah, he jacked the van, didn't he?" Kenji says.
"I could have caught the van." Yaz mutters.
"And…and he wasn't going to wait for us, even though he knew it wasn't safe." Darius continues. "And…and Mitch and Tiff had no problems threatening Yaz and Sammy or leaving you all behind."
"And then Wu and Hawkes kidnapping Brooklyn." Kenji adds. Darius hides a flinch.
"And then leaving us behind and they knew we were there. And didn't have a way off." Brooklyn says.
"Kash. Kash is an adult who sucks." Sammy interjects, wincing.
"Huh. So we really can't trust adults, can we?" Kenji asks.

an analysis on yazs issues with connections, trust, and (possible) abandonment bc i cant stop thinking about it:
this was supposed to be just an analysis abt her in just one scene, but i am not normal so its way longer now
aka the yasmina fadoula is NOT good at relationships with people long post. its long as hell and less of a post and more of an ordeal. also i bolded the dialogue if its not by yaz. youre welcome to add on to the post, esp in the miscellaneous sections. spoilers for all seasons under the cut
yasmina fadoula is a bit of a loner. of course we dont get to really see this a lot beyond s1 as they bond a lot after that lol. but i would like outline two scenes in particular. weve seen this less than social expressed before in the season (the part where brook tries to film her comes to mind) but i would like to firstly mention the scene where sammy first tries to talk to her. when first mentioned in the episode, yaz is a distance away from the rest of the campers, drawing (this most likely just for plot reasons, but i find it interesting how shes with them but not hanging out. together but isolated). in this scene kenji also says she probably just wants to be alone. sometimes. the very next scene she continues the behavior of sitting close to where kenji/brooklynn/darius/ben hang out, but not interacting with them, instead trying to wipe down her book (note: she also is very clearly listening to the conversation in this scene). and this is when sammy comes in, with an absolutely unabashed offer of friendship, heart on her sleeve so to speak. and yaz just is caught off guard. when sam says “no one likes the shell. it stops people from getting to know you,” yaz responds with “bingo,” and thats what leads me to believe that human connection has hurt her before. shes not ready to let someone in, not ready to play with fire again. but, this conversation, the “im not giving up,” line we hear in s3, leaves the door open for more. maybe they could be acquaintances
now, in the episode, what we see is yaz not really being used to someone as boisterous as sammy, especially with sammy wanting to be friends so clearly. and with the likelihood of yaz probably not having friends, being with sammy would probably be like being at a party but with no quiet corner to sink into. but through some blunders and a bit of life threatening danger (par for the course in this show) and a speech that was Most Definitely Totally All For The Dinosaur, I Swear You Guys has yaz realize that she can trust sammy. and maybe its not easy, but its worth a shot. it maybe awkward and clumsy, but hey, shes only here for a bit, why not talk to someone. and maybe shes not really a hugger, but she can let it go
Tumblr media
i also would like to note the reason yaz states for taking up drawing, “to kill time during track meets”. interesting. also one the drawings is of what we can assume is a t rex eating a person. now, if you remember, darius’s story at the beginning actually mentions a t rex. maybe its coincidence, maybe yaz was actually listening to the story all along.
but thats just with the other campers, how about the other people we see in the series? lets start with eddie. when we first see him and he shines the lamp on the camp fam, yaz actually takes up a fighting stance. she doesnt talk at all during the scene, or even take any cake. the closest we get to her and eddie talking is when she says “ow,” when she trips on bumpy while chasing him. ok, how about mitch, tiff, and hap? asks 1 question (“did you get stuck out here too?”) in the whole getting to camp part. ehh ok, but lets look beyond that, we are with them for several episodes after all. lets talk the breakfast scene. we get a whole other comment (“so many attacks,”) and its just in response to darius. ok, maybe the writers just didnt know what to really do with her. lets talk the scene where brooklynn sees hap being suspicious while everyone does something else. whats yaz doing? just chilling with sammy. not talking, even tho tiff is right there. ok i think my point here has been made lets skip to when we see mae for the first time, bc dr. wu isnt a really a stranger to her. on the journey over to her cave, we set a record for amount of lines yaz has in a persons intro scene: 3! yay! and then an additional one in the cave. wooo! the six months on a dinosaur infested island w/ only 5 other people helped her social skills. they arent perfect, but theyre definitely better, and she still sticks to her quieter tendencies.
episodes referenced in this section, chronologically:
s1ep1 camp cretaceous, s1ep3 the cattle drive, s1ep5 happy birthday, eddie, s2ep4 salvation, s3ep6 the long run, and s4ep3 turning dr. turner.
————
yaz’s handling of (possible) abandonment by friends is um. something. i only have two examples though. firstly, lets talk about s3 and what makes yaz realize she could be abandoned after leaving the island. the scene with ben. “after we go home, its not like any of us will ever see each other again.” “sure we will!” “doubt it. were spread all over the country. factor in time, money, life. you get the idea.” and as kenji tells him off, yaz hangs back with a pensive expression, as the storm gets ready to roll in. i love symbolism.
Tumblr media
and so, we get into the real part id like to discuss. yaz’s conversation with sammy. in this we can see yaz’s doubts and fears come through as she tries to shut down their relationship, so that there is no pain of any abandonment or drifting apart, because if the bond was only made due to “running for [their] lives all the the time,” it wouldnt be something to be hurt over, right? and so, while she reinforces the fence around camp, she does the same for her heart. and sammy? sammy knows that this isnt really what either of them want, but shes not strong with her words. so what is there to really say, especially with someone who cant hear it right now.
but thats something that we see yaz initiate, thats on her own terms. how about something that is very much not on her terms, kenjis betrayal of the camp fam? how does yasmina, worlds normalest person about all things relationships react? she retroactively goes wow i should not have trusted him. as weve seen, this is pretty much par for the course, this distancing from people. but in this she also pushes down her own range of emotions, instead focusing about how she was stupid to have let this happen to her. like, shes the second last person to go when darius leaves to go try and figure out whats up with big and little eatie.
episodes referenced in this section, chronologically:
s3ep5 the eye of the storm, s5ep4 evasive action

˅ some misc things
————
yaz also does not do good with trust being broken. at all. girl CRASHES a car because she had found out sammy lied about a PHONE. (to be fair the whole day had been extremely tough, there was a “monster dinosaur” out there that had tried to eat them twice) and then when sammy comes out with the fact that shes here entirely to spy, well, she cannot handle it. and so, she uses the same distancing tactics as before, unable to accept the hurt. she denies that it could have been real at all, and rescinds the special permission of being allowed to touch her. and this is our first glimpse (timeline wise) into how bad yazs issues with relationships are. and yet, theres still more for these guys! we also get a scene w/ them after yaz hurts her ankle. i cant talk for a lot of it bc its sort of just the same stuff lol, but we do get and explicit mention yaz had considered them as friends until this point (and she does go back to doing so). which is pretty realistic in a character whos clearly had some rough experiences with connection like yaz has.
episodes referenced in this section, chronologically:
s1ep5 happy birthday, eddie, s1ep6 welcome to jurassic world
————
yaz takes the want to be useful to the people to a higher level then most people would. this causes her to be a bit impulsive at times when trying to help, doing things that could hurt her as well as not really thinking things through. lets start with what yaz herself has to say on it, “i dont give up” “im the track star. the person my coaches, my team, everybody relies on. but now... but now im not. and if im not strong anymore... what good am i?” and this really goes to show how truly well she fits the team player role, she truly embodies it to an unhealthy degree. and she wants to be reliable, to her new team (the camp fam), and that want to prove herself to this team, and if she cant use two of her biggest skills, how is she supposed to do this? and i think this is where her impulsivity stems from, this want to help the team. and so this is where the scene with the mosasaurus comes in. in this scene we get to see this reliability savior thing shes got going on backfire on her, as while, yes, she saves sammy and darius, the mosasaur also goes straight for her.
episodes referenced in this section, chronologically:
s1ep6 welcome to jurassic world, and s2ep2 the art of chill
————
yaz, i believe, shows two major outlets during the show, both of which she uses to connect with people; her art and exercising. soo, lets talk about her art first, and how she uses it. when yaz opens up to sammy for the first time, the way she does it is through showing and talking about her art, and we know its definitely something close to her heart through the way she absolutely deflates when she thinks sammy doesnt like them, and with the portrait of her mom we see in the nightmare sequence, it can be assumed that this is how yaz has been dealing with her homesickness. and when yaz realizes sammys having a hard time with the goodbyes n stuff she tries to help by giving her a drawing of all of them. and while this is a small detail, there is the scene where we get to see yaz draw for darius’ field guide, even taking criticism on the piece. not super huge, but as we know yaz can be pretty down on her own artistic abilities, so the moment is actually kinda big for her.
now, to touch on her exercising as an outlet. while we dont get to see it as much as her art, ironically enough. its probably because most of the running she does is for her life. firstly, id like to talk about the moment where she talks to darius about “sometimes [we] get so stuck in [our] head[s] that [we] cant see whats happening in front of [us],” so, to combat that, we have to do something to get out of our head, something fun. for yaz, thats exercising, as she tells darius. for darius, thats learning new dinosaur facts. (as he puts it, “very different definitions of fun,”). and, hey, maybe it isnt her thing, but hes the one this is for, so she can put it aside her own feelings on it and most of her snark (most of).
Tumblr media
lets talk about when we can see this actually happening in season 5. now, this is where i, yes, get to talk about yaz’s crush on sammy. round of applause. when we first get to hear about her crush, yaz doesnt want to act on it at all. now, we dont get it explicitly, but based on what ive talked about, id imagine she is still afraid of changes in her relationships, especially with territory as uncharted as a relationship, let alone one with another girl. but when she takes her own advice, gets out of her head, and really lets her think, because, yea, change could be scary, but if she had let that fear overpower her in the beginning, she wouldnt have this now. (something something “its not finding your perfect half. its the trying and reaching and failing. love is being willing to ruin your good painting for the chance at a great one. is this really the boldest stroke you can make?”) and so she is willing to share her feelings, even if sammy doesnt feel the same. and in both cases it does work out! yazs advice helps darius find the beacon, and her decision to tell sammy about her feelings actual has them ending up together.
episodes referenced in this section, chronologically:
s1ep3 the cattle drive, s2ep1, a beacon of hope, s2ep3 the watering hole, s4ep1 beneath the surface, s4ep4 rude awakening, s5ep7 the leap, and s5ep9 the core.
other media referenced in this section:
the half of it, 2020, directed by Alice Wu.
————
some final thoughts/comments: i wrote this over 2 days w/ no editing. sorry if some sections are lackluster or whatnot. also based on my analysis i think yaz has adhd and autism because a lot of the stuff she does i do too, feel free to ask me about it btw. the quote from the half of it is only really tangentially related but its an absolutely amazing quote and movie. watch it. all the pictures are not mine. also i didnt really know what to say, but the scene where yaz, brook, kenji, and sammy are trying to make it to the boat is pretty interesting. ok post over

Jurassic World CC OC Fanfic
Title: April
Setting: Season 4, during “Turning Dr. Turner.”
I do not own anything
Casey sighed as Dr. Mae Turner opened the door to her home on this new island. It was really refreshing to see something that wasn’t Camp Cretaceous or the genetics lab…but Casey still had his suspicions over the hollow forest and how Mae’s bosses managed to get T. Rexes from Isla Sorna seeing how that island is pretty much myth or is it?
Sammy sat down on the couch. “Wow. As far as caves go, this one’s pretty swank.”
“You live here?” Darius asked.
“Live, work, play surprisingly competitive games of poker with my daughter.” Mae answered. “Usually win.”
“Daughter?” Brooklynn asked.
“Oh, yes. More like adopted in the case. April. Come out please.”
“Coming, Mum.” A voice said.
Then stepped out a really beautiful girl that Casey was hypnotized to. She had green eyes, red hair tied into a ponytail, fair skin compared to Mae’s Black skin, and wore a grey shirt that Sammy couldn’t help but see that the logo on the shirt was familiar, she wore a long-sleeved sky blue shirt over the grey shirt, tan shorts, and brown boots. The girl stepped out and asked, “Are these guests, Mum?”
“Yes, they are.” Mae answered. “All right, I’m gonna go whip up some sandwiches.”
She left and April looked at Casey. He was pretty much blushing really hard and April smiled warmly at the boy. She walked over to him and Casey’s mine was on the fritz. OH, GOD! SHE’S COMING RIGHT TO ME!! WHAT DO I DO?!?!?! BE COOL, BE COOL, BE COOL!!!! JUST USE KENJI AND BROOKLYNN’S ADVICE WHEN PRETTY GIRLS TALK TO YOU!
“Ello! I’m April Turner.” April said.
“H-H-Hi. I’m Casey…Casey Johnson.” Casey said while nervously shaking her hand.
“That’s a good name.”
SHE LIKE MY NAME!!!! Casey kept his blush and played with a loose strand of his unkept hair. “S-So…You…Uh…”
“What’s wrong?” April tilted her head in confusion.
Yaz put a hand on Casey’s shoulder and replied, “Sorry. He’s a bit nervous around pretty girls. Also, we haven’t talked to another human being in the last six months expect for a doctor and his gang of mercenaries.”
“Don’t forget Mitch and Tiff…” Casey whispered.
“Don’t worry. I don’t bite. Unless if you have to brand your claws to get some triceratops meat around here.” April giggled.
“W-Wait. Claws?” Casey asks.
“Oh, I’m a human-dinosaur hybrid. Had them when I was a baby.”
“What kind of genes?”
“Raptors.”
“Oh, me too! Actually I’m the first human-Dino hybrid in existence, and my mother, Caroline Johnson, was the one who made the formula to make us who we are.”
“How old are you?”
“Sixteen.”
“Same here. Say, you want a cup of tea while we talk?”
“Sure even though I’m a coffee guy.”
April walked over to make the tea and Yaz looked at Casey. “What was that?”
“What was what?” Casey asked.
“You have feelings for her.”
“What?”
Yaz raised an eyebrow smugly. Casey sighed as there was no fooling this girl and he blushed again. “I…I’m starting to. I mean, she’s beautiful, she’s sixteen, and she’s a hybrid just like me.”
April showed up with two cups of tea and the two sat down. Casey sipped from the cup and it was probably better than coffee. Even better than the coffee he made during the six months trapped on Nublar. Casey sat his cup down and asked, “So, how did you get on this island?”
“Well, Mum has worked at a lab back in London and I attended a private school so I could at least be entertained for a few hours while she was away. I did show some of my hybrid skills once in a while to my classmates. Then, Mum got a job and we dropped me out of school and we moved here.”
“Well, I was born somewhere in Costa Rica. Well, I spent mostly all of my life on Isla Nublar where I was “tortured” into being a dangerous hybrid. It was until my friends saved me and got me into Camp Cretaceous.”
“Camp Cretaceous?”
“It was a summer camp thing that my friends and the staff were testing out six months ago.”
“What made you stuck on that island?”
“Well, it was this hybrid dinosaur called the “Indominus Rex” that got us lost on the island and also these two poachers named Mitch and Tiff. Tiff really wanted my head on Mitch’s wall and she met an…ahem…gruesome death by some Baryonyxes.”
“Must’ve been hell trying to survive.”
“Yeah, it was.”
“At least, you have friends. I didn’t have any except for Mum. She’s pretty much my only family.”
The two smiled and then Mae showed up with plates of sandwiches.

Yeah yeah yeah, the ship is shiz but that shiz is Cannon so ig there’s nothing we can do but roll with it. I’m not really thrilled but I’m not too upset, the season was still pretty good. Not as good as season three but still.
Anyhow here are just my thoughts:
(SEASON FOUR JWCC SPOILERS!!!)
Ben carried this season, man really just girlbossed the hell outta the whole thing.
Darius had so much potential for character development but they just didn’t and that’s really annoying.
Speaking of Darius’s ark, KASH IS AN A-HOLE WHO WANTS TO COME AND BEAT HIM UP WITH ME
^seriously though, Kash wasn’t a very intimidating villain and the robots got repetitive real quick. Mostly I was just afraid that Kash was gonna hit Darius so that’s not at all good.
Also if Darius seriously trusts another adult in this series imma flip. Like why did he just trust Mae so easily? After Tiff and Mitch? So in season five I have no doubt that he will no longer trust adults. (Also how does Darius not have any trouble with ptsd like the rest of them? He went through so much and yet he’s just fine? It doesn’t make sense.)
YASAMMY ARE LITERALLY GFS LIKE THAT SHARING A BED SCENE EXCUSE ME- dreamworks, you have no explanation this time
Anyhow, since everyone else is so worked up about the whole brook and kenji thing, ig I’ll mention it. Personally I headcannoned Brook as ace/aro but like guess I’ll be fluid with my hc’s. I liked that they acted like a married couple with rebel, that was amusing and cute. It felt very fast and forced but watchya gonna do about it … I personally can’t do anything about it so yknow, rolling with the punches
^actually me and my friend are shipping Ben x Brook x Kenji because they would be a poly power couple and you can’t tell me otherwise (especially Brook and Ben like damn). To each they’re own when it comes to shipping though, you do you <3
THAT TWIST AT THE END LIKE YESSSSS WHY DIDNT YOU GIVE ME THAT SEVEN EPS AGO-

Cannot stop thinking about who received the signal the distress beacon sent out during season 2.
It wasn’t Mitch and Tiff because they lied about getting it, and in reality didn’t know a thing about it.
So, who was it? Who else was around the island at that time.
Dr. Wu? No, he was surprised when he saw the campers still there in season 3.
Mae? No, yet again, she was surprised to hear anyone survived on nublar when she met the campers in season 4. She also probably didn’t have any tech connected to the internet/able to receive outside signals because of the whole “shut off of the grid” thing.
Kash or Kenji’s dad? This option is heartbreaking but technically possible. They both must have visited the Mantah Corp. island sometime before they returned in season 4, meaning they were possibly close enough to receive the signal. If they did, why ignore it?
Of course, it could never come up again, but it’s worth thinking about the fact that the plot point was left open/unfinished.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (Gender Neutral Reader Insert)
Chapter 16: Selfish
<- Previous Next ->
Tumblr media
“I know it wasn't easy, but you made the right choice, kid. Thanks to you, we'll be done in no time.” Mitch compliments Darius, a hand on his shoulder that you're well aware does nothing to reassure him.
“We better be. Oh, god! I told you I never wanted kids.” Tiff continues to yelp and squeal as bugs nip at her, flinging her arms in every direction. “Now we have four of them and no guide.”
“We don't need a guide, babe. We have Darius. And he is taking us to… drumroll, please!”
“The watering hole.” Darius mutters.
“A one-stop dino-hunting shop! This kid is something! Didn't I tell you this kid is something, babe?” Mitch's voice is full of glee as you all walk through the dense jungle.
“Are you going to find our friends after this?” You ask, eyes narrowing as Mitch stares at you with a grimace. “Or your tour guide? I think Tiff misses him.”
Mitch's feet come to a sudden stop, and before you know it, the man is standing right in front of you.
“You're as nosey as the pink-haired one.” He sneers. “And there's a reason she's not here, so stop asking questions.”
He pats your shoulder roughly, a tight-lipped smile worn on his face. And as if he said nothing at all, he returns to his place right behind Darius. You all start walking again, hope diminishing. You don't pay too much attention when Sammy coughs, but when Yasmina falls to the ground, you immediately set your eyes on her.
“What?” Tiff hisses.
“Ankle hurts. I need a break.” Yasmina groans.
“Just for a little bit.” Sammy begs. “She can't keep going this fast.”
Before you can help it, your eyes widen at the realization that this is an act. You immediately revert your expression into a look of concern, even as you survey Tiff and Mitch’s reactions. Both adults hold looks full of exasperation, but neither argue.
“Fine! It's exhausting keeping these bugs away.” Tiff shrieks in distress as her words seem to increase the amount of bugs surrounding her. “Why are they only attacking me?!”
Mitch simply smiles at her distress, walking closer to try and deter the bugs. Meanwhile, you and Darius walk over to Yasmina and help sit her on the ground.
“We can't just go along with this.” Yasmina whispers. “We have to do something.”
“We only have two choices.” Darius asserts. “Help them and get back to our families, or don't and stay trapped here.”
“What about Brooklynn and Kenji?” You question. “They're obviously not going to look for them, and who's to say that they'll stay true to their word about us leaving?”
Darius squeezes his eyes shut as if your words pain him. And they must have because he can't even bring himself to look at you. “I - I don't know.”
You watch him struggle to find the words, and yet you know what he's trying to say before he even opens his mouth.
“I don't know what to do.” He admits, eyes wet with tears to come.
It's then that you realize something. Well, you've realized it long ago, but this only solidifies your theory. God, you're so stupid. You knew these people were bad. You knew that they'd only put you all in danger. And what did you do? You just let Darius lead you all into it.
Darius may be the impromptu leader, but that doesn't mean you had to listen to him. You could have convinced everyone to leave, even if he ended up hating you afterward. And still, you listened to him because you didn't want to put the work into changing anything. You were selfish, and look where it's gotten you.
It's happening all over again. The same thing that happened with Ben. You had him in your grasp. You had him. So close, so, so close. And now Brooklynn and Kenji are gone too. You let them go, willingly. And now, you're about to let the others go as well. But you refuse to. You won't let them die like Ben, not ever again. It won't ever happen again. It can't.
Your eyes flit over towards Mitch and Tiff, making sure that they're occupied by the bugs before turning towards the others.
“I know what to do.” You say quietly, and the pit in your stomach deepens as they send hopeful looks your way. “But I'll need your guys’ help.”
“Of course.” Darius says without hesitation. Maybe it's out of guilt, or maybe it's out of trust. You don't care either way because you're sure he'll feel nothing at all if you don't do this.
“I need you guys to distract Mitch and Tiff. It can be anything. You can even scream if you want to, I just need to get behind them.”
Yasmina furrows her brows. “Wait, why?”
Mitch is stronger than Tiff. He's stronger.
“I just need their eyes off me, that's all. And I'll make a run for it, find Brooklynn and Kenji, and we'll save you guys.”
“But–”
“Look, I'm probably the fastest runner since Yasmina's injured, and our only chance of escape is if we get Brooklynn and Kenji back.”
Brooklynn and Kenji are dead. Just like Ben. They're gone just like Ben, and it's your fault. You let it happen.
“We can't do anything like this. We need outside help, we need–”
A hand on your shoulder has you choking on your words. Mitch shushes you, a finger to his lips, which are upturned into a smirk. Looking in the same direction he is, you hear rustling.
“Babe,” he whispers towards Tiff. “You hear that?”
A twig snaps as the rustling grows closer and closer. And with night coming in so quickly, you can only hope that the darkness will help you all escape. Either that, or you hope the rustling is from a big predator.
Heavy footsteps approach steadily, with Mitch and Tiff crouching down to better hide their presence. You'd make a run for it now, but you'd rather the dinosaur make a meal out of the adults than your group.
Your mouth goes dry when Tiff sets down the flat bag she had brought with her, revealing a set of rifles that she wastes no time in preparing. Mitch cocks his gun as a faint snarling becomes apparent. Your dread increases tenfold when Mitch releases a blissful gasp.
“Oh, no.” Darius utters in horror.
A stegosaurus walks into view, entirely unaware of the danger it's put itself in. It lets out a bellow, treading towards some shrubs.
“Perfect. Look at those plates.” Tiff gasps in wonder.
“She's beautiful, isn't she, babe? Just stay clear of its thagomizer.” Mitch warns.
“What?”
“The pointy spikes on its tail, eh, bud?” Mitch pulls Darius close, as if he had just told an inside joke. The boy in question only looks down in shame.
“Whatever.” Tiff huffs. “Just take the shot before it gets away.”
The woman takes aim, the herbivore unknowingly giving the duo a clear shot.
“Don't worry, it won't feel a thing.” Mitch assures Darius, who rips himself away from the man as soon as he's able to.
The older man doesn't mind, instead joining his wife in aiming at the dinosaur just a couple feet ahead. There's a red glint on his face, a reflection of the red scope. It was almost poetic. You would have tucked it away in your mind for things to write about if it weren’t already occupied by how amazing a chance this was to run off.
You listen closely as Mitch spins the dial on his scope, a click, click, click, following it. You grab Darius's wrist, nodding your head in the direction opposite to the stegosaurus when he turns his attention towards you. But he only gives you a wounded look, and you remember his love for dinosaurs. It only takes a hesitant glance towards the adults from you for Darius to whip around whistle loud enough to startle both the dinosaur and the hunters.
A muffled shot goes off, a small branch falling to the ground. Mitch had missed, and now the stegosaurus knew that something was amiss. The reptile roars in fury, stomping towards you all with the newfound objective of defending itself.
Everyone screams in fright as the stegosaurus almost hits them head on. However, it seems the attack is in your groups’ favor, as it splits you apart from Mitch and Tiff. That feeling of relief doesn't last long, however, as the four of you quickly fall into the danger zone of its tail and rush to run away; now from both the dinosaur and the hunters.
You almost lose your footing when the stegosaurus's stomps shake the ground beneath you, but when Tiff enters your vision it's easy for you to switch directions. Your feet hit the ground harder and harder until the dinosaur's cries are long behind you. You only falter in your running when you hear Sammy cry out with an accompanying thud.
Mitch is in front of you, gaining a grasp on Darius, and when you turn the other direction you watch Tiff get ahold of Yasmina. And yet you keep running towards the woman, making eye contact with Yasmina. It's quick and sudden when the girl grabs Tiff in return, holding her wrists in place as you jump atop of the woman's back.
Your legs wrap around her waist, and you squeeze her neck in your arm, locking your hold with the other. You were the tallest out of this bunch. You were also the oldest, even if only by a couple months for certain people. You squeeze and squeeze, even when Yasmina loses her grip and Tiff's nails start clawing at you through your sweater.
Mitch is stronger than Tiff. Mitch is stronger than Tiff. Mitch is stronger–
A gunshot rings out, and you find your grip on Tiff going slack. Still, as soon as you hit the ground, you're running, just like you said you would. Just like you told them. You run and run, and you keep running even after that. There's liquid dripping down your face, perhaps a mixture of sweat and tears. You feel gross. Lightheaded, too. You can hardly breathe, and– oh, wait. That isn't sweat is it?
Your pace slows, only for a second, and then you're running as fast as you can once more. It's just a nosebleed. You always get those, this would be the third time. He must've shot the bridge of your nose, that's all. So instead you breathe through your mouth, despite how much it hurts when the skin on your face stretches with your mouth.
There are chirps around you, and they become especially apparent when your pace slows. Chirps and shrills you know come from Compies. Why are they here? Why are they nipping at you? You need to go faster. Faster.
You yelp when one jumps onto your shoulder, taking a bite at your neck. You throw the dinosaur off and continue at a faster pace. Your feet only stop hitting the ground when you see some familiar tents. You practically throw yourself into the bathroom yurt, hurriedly crawling towards the cabinets. You pry them open with trembling hands, searching and searching for…
For what? You're fine. You just have a nosebleed. But that shot definitely nicked your bridge, so you'll need bandages for that. You'll be fine. No, no, you are fine. And so is Darius. And Sammy and Yasmina. Maybe even Brooklynn and Kenji. But not Ben. No, not Ben. Not ever again.
Your fingers grasp a rectangular kit, coated in a red fabric with a white cross on it. Just what you're looking for. It's all you need, and then you'll go look for Brooklynn and Kenji. Just like you said you would. You pull out the bandages hastily. You should disinfect them. You should disinfect your wound. But you can't think of doing that. Not when you pull them to your face and feel the bloody mess that it is. You're almost happy that you're sprawled across the floor, just so that you can't see your mangled form in the mirror. This entire time, you didn't even realize you were only seeing out of your left eye.
Your bridge was certainly damaged, but it's a gash rather than a minor scrape. It explains the blood gushing both from your nostrils and the top of your nose. But further, on the right side of your face, it's pouring blood. But that's normal, isn't it?
Head injuries bleed more than other injuries because of all the blood vessels located there. It's probably not severe. It's fine. Still, you can't help but sob as you stuff the newfound laceration with bandages in an attempt to slow the bleeding. There's so much blood. It's on your hands, under your nails, on your sweater, on the floor. Another sob rips from your throat as the sound of chirping reappears outside the yurt. They know you're dying.
Still, after stuffing the wound, you clumsily grab the scissors from the kit, snipping the bandages short. After that, you begin to wrap it around your head. It's not tight enough, though. You're not sure how head wrappings work. And it doesn't help that your face is wet with a mixture of tears, sweat, and blood. So much blood. Your hands fall to your sides, and you find yourself slumping against the counter. Still, the chirps from outside encourage you to crawl towards the stall.
Weakly, more than you've ever been before, you pull the curtain shut and fall onto the toilet. Your chest rises and falls at a slow pace, too slow. You're going to die, aren't you? You spare a glance down at your hands, fingers twitching even though you want them to be in your face. You want your hands in your face so that you can look at the blood, and the grime, and the dirt. But your finger only twitches.
Your eyes - no, your eye is wet with tears. You don't have a right eye anymore. The realization just makes more tears fall. God, you're so selfish. You're sitting here, crying in those hunters’ yurt while everyone else is out there struggling for their lives! You were supposed to find Brooklynn and Kenji! Get up! Get up!
Your finger twitches. A droplet of blood falls from your pinkie. And you cry. You cry because no matter what you did, nothing ended up right. Nothing ever does. Now you're going to die. Cold and alone.
A scream escapes your lungs, not one full of rage or anger, but rather misery. You're alone. After all of this, you're still alone. But you don't want to be alone. You didn't ever want to be alone. Especially not with your body failing you as you lie still in a bathroom stall. That's the way a druggie dies. That's the way you fear your parents are going to die. And you never wanted to be like them.
Your leg kicks involuntarily, or maybe you told it to do that, you're not sure anymore.
You want your mom. Or even your father. You want to be held. If only one more time. You had to have been held as a baby. Maybe when you were born, your parents were actually people. Maybe they had chores to do, dishes to wash. Maybe your mother held you, laughing about how small you were. You feel small now. Could she hold you the same way? You want her to. You want her to hold your hand just as she did when you were young. Before the needles. Before the injections. Before trash began piling against the walls. Before roaches started claiming your home as their own. Before you had to rely on the EBT card in the mail to buy food for yourself.
Before any of that, you want the woman before that. You know she was a person once, and your father must have been too. You wish your father could lift you up on his shoulders and make you feel as tall as he is. You want him to ruffle your head and whine about your dislike for sports, only to give you notebooks on Christmas because he knows you like writing.
You wish you could rant about your stories to them, about the relationships between the characters and how much of the story is left. Even if you knew they weren't very into it, it would have been nice to know they were listening. To know that they cared enough to smile and ask questions.
You wish they would look at you. You wish so badly that the fog would lift, that their high would end, and that they'd look at you and see how terrible they've been. That they'd see your pain. That they'd see how much you're suffering. Please look. Please look at me. Look at me dammit! Can't you see how badly you're hurting me?
The worst part is that they don't even mean to. They don't even understand that you're hurting. They don't know how many nights you went hungry before you realized you would have to cook your own meals. They don't know how long the dishes piled up before you realized they wouldn't clean them anymore. They don't know anything, and it's horrible.
Your breath is shaky. It feels as if no matter how much air you suck in, it's not enough to fill your lungs. You're dying. You're dying, don't you know?
And yet, despite everything you haven't experienced and everything you want to experience, you're happy. You're happy because at least you'll be with Ben. Isn't that sad? You think it is, but you don't care. You remember the warmth you felt when you dreamed of being with him, and it's enough to comfort you. At least someone looked at you. At least someone saw you. And then they died, and soon you will too. But at least you can stay with him and Bumpy. You won't ever stumble upon their rotting bodies on this island. At the very least, your death wasn't caused by a poke and a high. At least, at least, at least…
You feel warm. Warmer than you should be. And you can hear, distantly, the absence of chirps and instead the sound of a voice. And yet, you feel horrified. Please, please just go. Why can't they let you be selfish, just this once. Please. You don't want to live anymore. You just want to be with Ben and Bumpy. You don't want to wonder if your parents will ever look at you again, you don't want to wonder what to cook for yourself again, you don't want to research how to get rid of mold. You just want to be happy. Is that such a selfish desire?
It apparently is because now your limp body is being lifted up into warm arms. And, maybe it isn't such a bad thing. You're going to die anyway. In warm arms, holding you tight. Holding you as if you were something precious. More tears escape because at least you're not alone. At least the person holding you is warm, loving, and oh so familiar. And distantly, you think you may be dead already. Because you're sure you've heard Ben.

Ok, so a little while ago I posted about me writing scenes from a documentary that the Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous kids would do after they got rescued. So, since people wanted to see it; here it is...
"State your name, please"
>
"Ben Pincus"
>
"Sammy Gutierrez"
>
"Yasmina Fadoula"
>
"Just uh call me Brooklyn"
>
"Kenji Kon"
>
"Darius Bowman"
///////
"What were your first feelings when you got to Camp Cretaceous?"
>
"I was terrified"
>
"I felt guilty because I was there to spy..."
>
"I just didn't want to be there. Camp was never really my thing."
"Can you elaborate, Yasmina?"
"I've never been too good at making friends. My life has always been about being the best as an individual, not as a team."
>
"I was ready to 'unbox Jurassic World'" She chucked a little when she said the line she had said so much during her time on the island
>
"I don't really know how I felt." He paused. "I guess I felt like I was lying to myself. I kept telling these kids how rich I was hoping it would make me feel better about how my dad just put me on this island to get rid of me for a few weeks."
>
"I was excited. My dad and I always wanted to go to Jurassic World and I actually did it, I got to see dinosaurs."
///////
"I didn't want to leave them," their camp counselor, Roxie, said "but I was forced to. We tried everything to get them back, but after three months we lost hope. We didn't expect them to survive on their own for more than a month, let alone seven."
>
Yasmina put her foot on her chair, motioning for the camera to zoom in. "I had to get surgery for my ankle. When I distracted the Mossosaurus I had to jump onto the stadium. I tore a ligament right here," she pointed to a small scar and then sat back down. "It hurt like hell, but I just kept running. There was... so much running. Every day, we ran, and ran, and ran."
>
"I... couldn't hold on," Darius didn't look at the camera. "I couldn't hold on and he fell."
"Darius," the interviewer said his name gently, "Ben is fine. Everyone is fine."
"No, none of us are fine. We're all scarred, we can't sleep, I know none of us eat enough. None of us are fine, and it's my fault because I couldn't hold on."
>
"We blew up an entire tunnel to get to that boat. We almost killed Toro, we used Ben's hand sanitizer to light a fuse. And we still didn't make it. We had to go on fighting to stay alive cause it wasn't enough." Kenji looked down at his lap.
>
"That's when we met Mitch and Tiff." Darius said to the interviewer. "They pretended to be there to rescue us, but they lied. They were there to hunt dinosaurs, and almost killed us."
>
"We– we thought he was dead." Brooklyn had tears in her eyes. "We watched him fall. Darius blamed himself, Kenji wore his fanny-pack, Sammy cried and cried. Then he was back, with Bumpy."
"Bumpy?"
Brooklyn smiled slightly, "She's Ben's best friend, an Ankylosaurus we met in the genetics lab. He called her Bumpy because she had asymmetrical head bumps."
>
"We watched people die. After a while, it just didn't phase us." Ben said, not looking at the camera. "That can change someone. We saw dinosaurs eat people, see what was left while we walked through the jungle, and we changed. Darius went into 'leader mode', Brooklyn went into 'Esther Stone mode', Kenji just shut down and acted like it wasn't happening, Sammy tried to stay positive, Yaz just kept pushing herself, and I-" he stopped talking. "I got dangerous."
"Dangerous how?"
Ben looked up, his eyes were glossy. "My only thought was survival. I was ready to beat the shit out of that Hap guy even though he wanted to help us. I blew stuff up, I even tried to stay on the island."
"Why would you want to stay on the island?"
He shrugged, "People want to do crazy things when separated from civilization."
>
"I couldn't do anything. I wish I could, but I was useless. Yaz nearly killed herself for Sammy, Darius did everything to get us home, Brooklyn's YouTube videos helped us countless times, Ben had a fucking dinosaur, but me? I was absolutely useless." Kenji put his head in his hands.
"I'm sure you tried your best, Kenji" the interviewer was calm.
"How would you know?" He stood up off the chair, looking at the interviewer, "I showed Darius Toro. I wanted us to go in the tunnels. I didn't pack so we didn't set sail and the Scorpious came. I was gonna give Wu the computer and let the world be ravaged by dinos. I trusted my dad. I wasn't helpful at all when we were there!"
>
"Some good things happened when we were there," Sammy said, smiling a little. "I got to meet so many amazing people. I stopped a corrupt company. I met my amazing girlfriend. It was horrible, yes, but it wasn't all bad."
//////
"Did you have a favorite moment on Nublar?"
>
"When Bumpy and I ran over Dr. Wu's laptop."
>
"The night we saw Tiff and Mitch's campfire. Kenji brought out Dave's mixtape and I swear it was the funniest thing ever. We were all dancing and laughing, I wish Ben was there." Sammy chuckled softly.
>
"This one day Ben and I had to bring Pierce, Firecracker, Angel, and Rebel to the new watering hole. That's when I told him I had feelings for Sammy and he did this stupid voice when he was 'helping me' by pretending to be her."
>
"When Ben saved us. Kenji and I were about to be caught by Hap and all of a sudden he falls. Behind him Bumpy and Ben were just standing there and it was one of the most amazing and confusing moments of my life."
>
"Seeing my brother get off that boat. We got the proximity alert and I was so worried there was gonna be another problem, but there wasn't. He got my call and I got to see him again, I never thought I'd get to see him again."

I was thinking about this post again and:
"The pattern is: Yasammy, Benji, Yasammy, ____"
Notice how Yasammy has a subplot of its own in both s1 and s3, but in s2, while there were several moments, there was never a concrete problem involving them that wasn't completely related to the main plot (Tiff and Mitch). If we go by that pattern, s4 will have plenty of moments (I mean the Long Run happened, it'd be stupid if they just went back to calm like s2 did), but the show probably won't focus around them YET.
Now, Benji is a bit harder to tell since most of it is hidden in subtext, but going by the same rules as Yasammy, there wasn't a concrete problem involving them in both s1 or s3 (bold of me to ignore the negative tension in s3 as if it hasn't made my life a living hell), but s2 had Ben coming back, so we could call that their plotline. So s4 will probably have a subplot involving Benji.
HERE COMES WHERE I STOP REPEATING MYSELF:
The Yasammy plotline in s3 comes from the conversation on the monorail in Last Day of Camp (01x07), where Yaz mentions how they have nothing in common after Sammy says she's glad they're now friends, and Ben says this line:
Now that it's over, what are the odds we'll ever see each other again?
Which ends up making somewhat of a comeback in Eye Of The Storm (03x05).
One of the most iconic (?) lines of s2 was this one, courtesy of Kenji:
I just wanted 24 hours when we didn't have to think about dinosaurs, or being left behind, or...Ben
SO it could mean that the Benji plotline of s4 could be connected to the monorail, especially Kenji's reaction to Ben's death, which hasn't been talked about AT ALL in the show.

man everytime i read abt ben eating grubs i just think of how desperate he mustve been to do so. how long did his transformation into jungle ben take anyway? a few days or so?
cause he was gone for a month i think. that’s my interpretation of it anyway. makes sense to me since legal battles that tiff/mitch mentioned prob would be rumored or discussed before actual action and that’d be a month or so. also cause i find it hard to believe more than a month of running around without running into signs of each other even if the island is big. like maybe i should write something abt his decisions abt his survival made between yelling at compies and his whole fit change. how this was all decided on the basis that he was the only kid left on the island.
i’m diverging all i was thinking abt how hungry he was to think abt eating grubs. i mean it’s still a big step even if it’s common knowledge that you Can eat bugs for protein. maybe he didn’t think abt it when he actually did it but did think abt it before; he just wasnt desperate enough. and then fics that have him eating compies as some sort of revenge tbh makes sense to me even if he loves dinos he couldnt just survive off berries and grubs (and he only has the bumpy connection to dinos anyway). there were no human made food wrappers or anything his carob bars couldn’t have lasted too long….maybe he caught fish or something. but catching and killing a compy as a way of truly overcoming them. Ummm wait let me think this thru idk if that would cause compies to get revenge on Him even if he scared them away or would make them avoid him bc that’s an alpha move (putting the “me and the compies have a history” line in full context….)
