i know this is kind of a hot take these days, but genuinely and sincerely, when i see a post that includes any sort of begging or guilt tripping for reblogs, i block the op (or at least use xkit to block the post from showing up on my dash), no questions asked
like i really do get it. not getting engagement feels bad. ive been there. but something i had to come to terms with is that it isnt anyone else's obligation to make me feel better. regulating my emotions is MY job, even when it's hard.
anyone who feels like they have to guilt people into giving them engagement or validation: you might need to step back because that seriously smacks of an unhealthy relationship with social media. look into dialectical behavioral therapy maybe. godspeed.

I don't usually make statements like this on here. I prefer to let the voices of those who know the subject matter do the talking. But those voices are starting to dissappear, whether due to death, exhaustion or having the capability to share their stories literally ripped from their hands, so I feel the need to put this out there, regardless of how few or how many people might see it.
In Palestine we are seeing a repeat of the holocaust, with senseless death and destruction on an unprecedented scale. We all know this, and we all know who is complicit in this genocide, as well as who has been standing against it.
Here's my official stance.
I stand with Palestine. I stand with the people of Sudan and The Democratic Republic of Congo. I stand with every person who has been beaten down in the interest of western gain. I stand with those who would stand beside me and I mourn for those who have been murdered by western greed.
I'm one small drop in a wide ocean, but together we can make a tidal wave.
We will not forgive.
We will not forget.
From the river to the sea.
I wish I could do more.

I am sos sorry I keep coming to your page to rant but I really need a safe space to vent.
I also feel like I am repeating my self but I just can’t keep it in.
I don’t know if they have always been this way but I feel like the swifties have official reach a new low.
The mental gymnastics they are doing right now to make the album seem like it’s the ultimate masterpiece and that it’s not just about a woman who cheated and still expected a proposal and then couldn’t handle the criticism for dating a racist is beyond me.
Yes the lyrics are really good and yes the growth in her writing is very noticeable but this is not the masterpiece of the century, especially that art is subjective.
Just because you love it doesn’t mean everyone has to. Just because you relate to it(although that is troubling imo) that doesn’t mean everyone will.
I just cannot see another “you don’t get it because you don’t understand poetry or deep thought” essay.
Like chill it’s not that deep.
I saw a video of one of those TikTok famous comedians saying something along the lines of this album is for the 30 year old woman who still trying to figure out their shit and my first thought is “correction - this is for 30 something year old white women who have not figured it out and want a medal for their tantrum”
No offence to anyone, but she is not exactly talking about extremely deep subjects here.
She is not talking about woman struggling with their mental health because they don’t have access to mental health services
She is not talking about what it’s like for woman surviving abuse in any of its forms.
She is not talking about the struggle of woman with their self image.
She is not talking about woman who are a tilll trying to find their voice in this cruel world.
Is definitely not talking about the Palestinian women struggle throughout the genocide.
I have heard this album all 31 songs and the only one I felt like she actually was raw was the prophecy.
Because let me tell you all her other songs, even though many are deep and talk about her struggle with the backlash and how she was being treated by the media, they were in many ways self inflicted. She kept arranging pap walks, she was the one who openly dated a racist, she is the one activity in a PR relationship so she can get talked about, and she is the one who is not on the right side of history by not talking about Palestine.
So she can sit down and shut up about being prosecuted like she is some victim.
I am very sorry about the big ass rant but I am just fucking pissed with all of this.
Hi sweet anon, this is a safe space for you. Please feel free to rant whenever you feel like it.
As someone who has been in this fandom for 15 years approx. I can confirm that Swifties have always been delusional.
Most of the fandom don’t want to understand that Taylor admits to her flaws - e.g. narcissism & cheating - and this makes it difficult to have honest conversations about her work.
Additionally, this is one of the most problematic issues about Taylor: her use of liberal feminism. Many Swifties have come to me over the years and asked, “what makes Taylor’s music white?” In response, I have explained to them that it’s because she lacks an understanding of intersectionality.
For example, If you listen closely to “The Man,” you’ll understand that Taylor isn’t criticising the actions of her male peers, instead, she’s lamenting how she isn’t able to do what they do. Her biggest point of oppression is that she can’t flaunt her dollars. This lacks an intersectional understanding of feminism because her only source of oppression is being a woman. She doesn’t know what it’s like to be queer, poor, POC or confront any other form of oppression.
It got to a point where the alt-right in America loved her and she waited until 2019 to criticise the Republican Party’s policies under Trump. She profited off of their support for years until she decided to take an ethical stance. That’s simply not good enough.
In 2019, when she was sinking into irrelevance after her album “Lover” didn’t do well, she had an activism era. Now when she’s at the peak of career, she no longer cares to be “on the right side of history” because god forbid she sacrifices her fame and wealth to stand up for what is right.
I suppose our only consolation is that she’s self aware. She knows that she is the “anti hero.”

Had to write an article abt this for a class so I thought I'd post abt it here too
My stance on the whole school furry crisis and what I know about it
Facts:
No, kids are not asking schools to put litter boxes in classrooms/bathrooms. If there are cases of litter boxes being added to schools, it's for service animals.
No, furries are not sexually attracted to animals. The correct term for those who are is zoophile.
No, most furries do not really believe they are animals. They just find comfort and fun in playing dress up as one. I'm not sure what the correct term for someone who does believe they are an animal is. (Therian?)
Now where I draw the line:
Understandable things for furries to do during school hours:
Wear small accessories with animal patterns/shapes/themes, such as a cat ear headband, gloves with paw pads (not fursuit gloves, but small, hardly noticeable gloves that can be worn while writing.)
Vocal stim (I see this lumped in with the furry community as some people who have vocal stims tend to use animal noises as stims.) That said, I do urge people to try repressing loud and disruptive stims and try to develop quieter ways to stim.
Talk with friends about their interest in animals/fursuiting. People can talk about what they want amongst themselves and it is not your right to barge in on conversations unless they are discussing harmful topics.
Things I don't think are acceptable:
Loudly and repeatedly making animalistic sounds or gestures, such as meowing, hissing, barking, purring, etc. as well as walking on all fours, refusing to do things as they aren't something an animal would do, and refusing to use bathrooms in a humanly manner.
Wearing full fursuits/fursuit parts. They take up a lot of space, are usually brightly colored, which can be distracting to other students/staff, and if not maintained correctly, can emit mass amounts of bodily odor.
Being a zoophile. This is in no way even tangentially related to those who participate in their community in a healthy and non-harmful way, but I see it associated with it a lot. Individuals who prey on animals in a sexual manner are to be reported to the police and have interventional services called to help both the animal and the individual.
Talking about being a furry excessively to staff members. Teachers can have interest in a student's life, and often ask questions like "what are your hobbies?" If safe to do so, you can offhandedly mention fursuiting/fursuit creation, but please do not bring it up willingly in conversation as many teachers are not in agreement with the community's existence and it could lead to bullying or discipline. I strongly recommend replacing any language relating to being a furry with being a cosplayer or non-professional actor, as both are more accepted and less dangerous to mention.
That all being said, I am in no way a hater of any community online, including furries, therians, the LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent users, disabled users, etc. and this is purely meant to be a guide on what can get you hurt by people who aren't accepting, as well as what is blatantly wrong and right. Do remember that a lot of these takes are personal opinions guided by research on school officials' experiences with the subject. Stay safe out there, have fun, be creative, and remember that I love you/p

‘John Wick 4’ Star Hiroyuki Sanada Teases His FX Series ‘Shogun,’ His First as a Lead: ‘I Feel Reborn’
Link to the article (x)
Japan’s Hiroyuki Sanada has become one of Hollywood’s most familiar Asian actors, with action roles in franchises like “Mortal Kombat,” “Avengers: Endgame” and now “John Wick 4,” as well as nuanced character turns in “Minamata” and “The Railway Man.”
“John Wick” star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski created a role especially for Sanada so that he could join the action-packed universe. But it is the upcoming “Shogun” series for FX and Hulu that has given the Hollywood-based Sanada a new calling.
What do you like most about your part in ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’?
There’s a scene between John Wick and my character Shimazu Koji, up on the roof top where the two old friends are drinking whiskey. Just talking. Talking, not fighting. That’s a very rare thing in this movie. It created atmosphere and established their chemistry.
As an action franchise, “John Wick” is pretty intense. Were you ready for that?
Before he created “John Wick” and at the end of “47 Ronin” [in which Reeves and Sanada co-starred] Keanu told me that his next project was a big action movie with Chad [Stahelski]. I said “good luck” and watched the whole series in the movie theater. Finally, Chad called me and said he’d created a role for me, as an old friend of John Wick. I was so excited, this time I said, “I’ll see you on set.” It was a quick decision. I’d been following all of Keanu’s jobs. And I was really happy to be reunited with Keanu and Chad, the stunt guys and the choreographer. It was like a dream come true.
As a Japanese actor in Hollywood, do you have to audition much?
These days, luckily, I mostly get offered roles. But, of course, for many years before that I had to audition. Lately, I read the script, talk with the director and if we see that we have the same goals, I’ll jump in.
I think I used to be a workaholic, especially when I was living in Japan. No official holidays in the year, working almost every day. I loved it. But when I moved to L.A. in 2005, it was harder for me to get roles. And I had more free time. It had never happened before. But I also realized that I needed that time, because working in the U.S. was much harder than working in Japanese in Japan. I started taking English lessons, then doing auditions and lots of meetings. I had to concentrate. I was tense. So, I needed the relaxing time in between and have now found a good work-life balance. I have an exciting job and a peaceful life. California is perfect for me. It has cities, great restaurants, the ocean and mountains. Plus, there is a big entertainment industry here.
Many of the roles you’ve taken — “Minamata,” “The Railway Man,” “Bullet Train” — speak about Japanese culture — but are not necessarily made by Japanese filmmakers. Do you worry that they are inaccurate or they’re Western-skewed interpretations of Japanese society?
Some themes are considered too sensitive or delicate that Japanese filmmakers will not touch them. In that case, if it is an important theme, having a Western filmmaker do it is welcome. I say, “Thank you for making this movie and bringing the story to the world.” I always take this stance. But if they are getting things culturally incorrect, then I have to say something. I have to fix it. I’ve found directors and producers have always listened respectfully to my suggestions and that has never been awkward on set. In “Minamata” [where the subject is an industrial-scale poisoning] the director [Andrew Levitas] asked me to consult on the set design and the costumes of the extras. I was on set every day, often before the director, checking things. I didn’t have any official title, but they listened to me. Since then, I’ve been doing that for every movie. And, last year, finally, I got the title of the producer of a show.
You are referring to “Shogun” — a series based on another Western-written book about Japan — in which you play feudal Lord Toranaga
Yes. I discussed these things a lot with Justin Marks [co-writer and executive producer] about how to make it work for today’s audiences and still be authentic. But, for the first time I had the right, officially, to say something. We hired Japanese cast and crew, who have a long career in samurai movies. Costumers, wig specialists and set designers. On “Shogun,” I had a team. Before that, I was always just one person struggling with this responsibility on my shoulders. That said, I really enjoyed it. Making better movies is my dream. Now finally, after 20 years [in the U.S.], I’ve got the title and the team. It is a big step for me. First time as a producer, first time as a leading man in a Hollywood show. I feel reborn. And I hope that there will be more occasions when I can be actor or producer, or both.
How is the production of “Shogun” going?
It went well. It was so dramatic and meaningful. Everyone understood that we were taking on a big, big challenge. But it was worth working hard to create the future. It was a great feeling: East meets West without any walls between us.
Although they operate on different scales, are there things that Hollywood can learn from the Japanese film industry?
The styles are a little different. And it is true that Japanese movies have almost no budget. So, we have to calculate and schedule everything very tightly. I don’t know if that is a good thing or not. Having a highly skilled crew certainly is. I’d like to see more mix between East and West. Bigger budgets, protected by unions, but also working to a schedule.
What are your plans going forward?
After finishing the post-production of “Shogun”, I will join my next project in June or July. A movie, but I cannot disclose the title just yet. I won’t be producer on that, but I plan to produce again in the future.
I mean, this is what Sanada truly deserves; being a leading man in Hollywood. he has more than enough experience, gravitas, and talent to do so, and I am stoked and extremely exhilarated (to an almost unparalleled extent) to see how Shogun unfolds. I finished reading the book while ago, and it is an excellent piece of literature, and Lord Toranaga is such a complex, intricate, multifaceted protagonist.

hi my question today is how has literally no one drawn parallels from qsmp to stranger things, it would be a funky little au I think
Not to mention that the real project the stranger things was based off of, MKultra, literally has a branch called Bluebird that was dedicated to attempting to brainwash and influence any thoughts the subject might have, as well as gain control over their physical body. I remember seeing someone here talk about this before in correlation with the project bluebird au but I can't find the post anymore unfortunately. Anyways here's a funky little official document talking abt the irl experiment
Tumblr media
And here's where I found it
Anyways back to the au, it's not even much of an au bc so much of it is already so similar but we would have the feds experimenting in the eggs, giving em funky little powers, cucurucho would be put in Ones situation, but maybe not as evil, depending on ur stance with them, the duck would be the ringleader of it all, the big bad, and maybe Jaiden could be working with the eggs as well, eventually helping them escape and find homes with the rest of the island or smthn, maybe they escape on their own and a buncha people randomly find lost children at the same time, idk. Another idea is to have Jaiden take Elevens place, age down the characters and have her be found by Cellbit, roier, Wilbur, baghera, and foolish? Maybe bbh? I'm just throwing this out there to literally anyone bc it's driving me mad that almost no one has said anything about project bluebird and mk ultra. Might think about fleshing the idea out more if ppl like this.

A03 Reading History Chapter Log
Hello, never done this before but I saw this as the place to send a suggestion for A03. I did also read the "Common Requests" and didn't see this, which was kinda surprising to me.
I would like to see an additional bit of data storage for the Reading History part of user profiles that logs what chapter they were last on for each fic. Essentially, this would replicate automatically creating a bookmark, but without a description or tags, and entirely private to each user.
As I said, I am aware that Bookmarks can accomplish this, but i'm not very familiarized with how bookmarks work and I consume fic works very quickly. I don't always want to create a bookmark when I might frequently jump between PC and Mobile, or start reading another fic entirely and forget to go through the process of making a bookmark. While this might be a QOL change, I still think it would be nice to see.
Here's an example of what I mean, formatted as a sort-of CSV table.
<Name>, <Last Visited>, <Most Recent Chapter>
So it would look like:
Work 1, 11/30/2022, 4
Work 2, 12/3/2022, 18
Work 3, 12/14/2022, 7
Then, when the user visits that fic from their History, they automatically get redirected to their most recent chapter. For Work 1, that would be Chapter 4.
Let me know what you think!
* * *
Mod dragonling here 👋
I must confess that I am not savvy enough in how the data collection and data infrastructure on AO3 (or any other website for that matter) works so take my somewhat uninformed opinion. Also, a disclaimer that I do not work for AO3, this blog is not officially linked to AO3, and the views below are my own.
First, I can see the appeal. It would be nice to be able to move between devices (mobile and computer) and not lose your place in a fic. However, I do not know if this is something that AO3 would entertain. AO3 has stored IP addresses for 48 hours for hit counter functionality and after doing a quick scan of their Privacy Policy I think it's possible to build and implement a feature like you're asking for, but not being part of AO3, I don't know what their stance is internally on something like this.
I actually don't think that bookmarks on AO3 have the functionality you've described here. Bookmarks on AO3 save a fic down into your "Bookmarks" folder, but they do not—to my knowledge—save your place/chapter in a fic.
All that being said, the functionality you are looking for seems like something using a browser that tracks you across devices (Firefox? Chrome??) might have already. Any thought about exploring that option more?
But I'll let people more knowledgeable on this subject chime, supplement, or correct any of my points above. In closing, I welcome people to use this post (and blog) as a forum for discussing new features they'd like to see on AO3, but if you would like a direct answer from AO3, you should submit a Support and Feedback ticket.

Relentless - chapter 17 - ao3
In the end, they walked together for a little longer in silence as Lan Qiren thought over Wen Ruohan’s proposal.
Well, it had been more of a statement than a proposal, but he was choosing to take it as one anyway.
Wen Ruohan walked beside him, looking pleased with himself as he waited for him to finish thinking without any show of impatience. He knew, presumably, that Lan Qiren was bad with decisions that went too quickly, and that forcing the issue would only make him defensive and more likely to stiffen his back and be stubborn for no reason at all. He presumably knew, too, that no one could convince a person of something they wanted better that they themselves could…
Irritating man.
How dare he be so attractive.
Finally, unable to think of any other potential problem, Lan Qiren asked, “Have you resolved your issues with Lao Nie?”
Wen Ruohan twitched.
“Perhaps that’s a question better aimed at you,” he said, his smile a little stiff all of a suddenly, and Lan Qiren belatedly realized that the fearless tyrant had been afraid to raise the subject of Lao Nie because he didn’t know how Lan Qiren would react to it.
“You did that to yourself, not responding to me all this time,” Lan Qiren told him crossly. “I would have told you up front that I’m fine with it.”
Wen Ruohan blinked. “Fine – with it? What is ‘it’ here, exactly?”
“Physical fidelity is unimportant to me, especially since I don’t generally see the point of all that nonsense anyway, however willing to participate in it for your sake I might be,” Lan Qiren explained. “What I care about is your heart, and if you offer me that, I am confident that it will be mine alone. Even if you continue to bed Lao Nie, you could offer your heart to him a thousand times over and he’d find a way to dance away each time as if it were a burning ember.”
“…ouch,” Wen Ruohan said dryly, but seemed to relax, the tension flowing out of his stance. “You’re right. He would, and that is what has been between us all this while, festering…perhaps it is some fault within me, but I cannot love fully what is not clasped within my grasp, what is not and will never be mine. I can be fond of him, I can have affection for him, I can even invite him to my bed, but I can’t trust him, and that is all there is to it.”
“And your wives?” Lan Qiren frowned. “The living ones, I mean. You said your first wife, Wen Xu’s mother, she was involved –”
Wen Ruohan waved a hand. “Ambitious and treacherous as a dog, willing to sink to any low as long as it was for her son’s benefit,” he said, and actually sounded approving. Ugh, Wen sect! “I can no more condemn her than I do the other sects for what they did. Self-interest is self-interest, and hers, at least, she thought would be to the benefit of my bloodline. Now that Wen Xu will be named the official heir, being trained to take the reins of power as my deputy, I think she may finally be willing to rest easy in her retirement…of course, I have censured her and restricted her spending for the next three years, cut in full for the present year and halved for the next two. She won’t be able to show her face unless she wears last season’s fashions, and she won’t do that.”
Lan Qiren didn’t quite understand how that worked, but Wen Ruohan seemed satisfied, and in the end it really wasn’t any of Lan Qiren’s business. He might have objected to an enforced isolation, the sort He Kexin had been forced into, but a self-imposed one…well, with his brother as his example, he couldn’t exactly say much about it without being a rank hypocrite.
“The second one won’t be any problem either,” Wen Ruohan said. “She’s not very smart. I’ve commissioned one of my more loyal retainers to pay attendance upon her – you haven’t met him, his name is Wen Zhuliu; quite talented, albeit not very creative. I’d had him in mind initially to be A-Chao’s bodyguard, but he’ll do just as well for the mother as for the son. I expect them to be lovers soon enough, and whenever she has a lover she thinks of nothing else. I’ll be all yours.”
“Emotionally.”
“…emotionally, yes. Though if you were interested –”
“Even if I were interested, you wouldn’t be satisfied with any one person, least of all someone like me that doesn’t enjoy it that much. You’re not going to swear fidelity to anyone,” Lan Qiren pointed out, and Wen Ruohan considered it and shrugged in agreement. “No more bastards, though.”
“That won’t be an issue; I’ve learned my lesson. Does that mean you agree?”
“It means I’ll think about it.”
“I can convince you some more, if you like –”
Over the years, Lan Qiren had found plenty of his students in the shadow of the trees that lined the more distant pathways of the Cloud Recesses, curled up in each other’s arms and rather breathless from the kisses they’d been trading, horrified to have been discovered by their stern teacher, but he’d never actually thought he’d be one of them.
Truly, as the rules said, one never stopped learning…
Of course, the rules also said Do not wallow in luxury and pleasure, but Lan Qiren thought he could make a decent argument for why what he was doing could not be considered wallowing.
Or, well, he probably could, anyway, once he could think properly again.
“I have chores,” he said blankly to the sky as Wen Ruohan explored the hitherto-unknown sensitive areas on his neck and ear. “I have – Xichen’s chores. My own remaining duties. It’s getting late.”
“Let it get late,” Wen Ruohan said.
Still, when Lan Qiren gently pushed him, he obediently released Lan Qiren with only a bit of grumbling.
“Diligence is the root,” Lan Qiren said, straightening out his clothing and willing his face and ears to not be so red. “This won’t take long. You can go back –”
“I’ll come with you,” Wen Ruohan said promptly. “It’s been a while since I’ve actually walked through the Cloud Recesses, rather than remaining only in the areas meant for guests and meetings. If I’m going to marry in, I ought to start getting used to it, shouldn’t I?”
Lan Qiren huffed, but allowed it.
Tragically, having Wen Ruohan at his elbow, showing his teeth like some predator on the hunt, actually did turn out to be exceptionally useful, with many of those that might have otherwise found a reason to quibble with Lan Qiren suddenly finding a reason to be elsewhere, or else giving in and letting him solve their problem directly. It would have been a problem if Wen Ruohan were an outsider – Lan Qiren could at no point allow himself to be seen as swayed by influences outside the sect, or else he would lose all authority forever, seen only as a puppet – but if he were to marry in, he wouldn’t be an outsider; he would be Lan Qiren’s wife, his very purpose to support Lan Qiren in all his endeavors.
Anyway, it wasn’t only intimidation and the powerful Wen sect that Wen Ruohan brought to bear. He had a century’s worth of experience at managing people, and it showed, both in the way he interacted with people and the suggestions he whispered into Lan Qiren’s ear where appropriate, and as a result Lan Qiren spent more of his attention on watching him than he did on the actual tasks he was supposed to be accomplishing, most of which he could do in his sleep.
Possibly that was the reason he didn’t notice or attach any significance to the fact that one of the tasks on Lan Xichen’s list was visiting with Lan Jinyan, a task that primarily involved making sure that old teacher had enough tea and other comforts and had not at any point shuffled off the mortal coil when no one was looking.  These days, the old man tended to stay put in his favorite chair in his garden, as still and motionless as a statue unless actively prodded into a response, so the usual process was to try to talk to him a few times (often at ever-increasing volumes) and eventually edge forward into his personal space until he turned to glare or squint blearily at the intruder…there was a reason this was a task deemed appropriate for eleven-year-olds like Lan Xichen.
Mostly because it was too embarrassing for adults.
This time, though, after they’d entered the secluded little garden but before Lan Qiren could actually say or do anything, the old man’s head turned towards them like a dog scenting a rabbit.
“Oh, that’s nice,” Lan Jinyan said amiably enough. “Seventh Young Master hasn’t visited for quite some time.”
Lan Qiren was fairly accustomed to the grand-elder mistaking him for someone else – the most usual was some person called Lan Liangsheng, who was apparently nicknamed ‘little dragon’ and who also apparently needed regular scoldings for being ‘too well-mannered and obedient’ – so he didn’t think much of it, at first.
Wen Ruohan, however, stopped dead in his tracks.
Lan Qiren turned his head towards him, questioning, but Wen Ruohan didn’t notice; he was too busy scrutinizing Lan Jinyan with a strange expression on his face.
“Do I…know you?” he asked, sounding strangely hesitant. It occurred to Lan Qiren that Wen Ruohan, who had had numerous siblings now all lost to time, might in fact once have been a Seventh Young Master, long, long ago.
Long ago enough, perhaps, that an ancient like Lan Jinyan really might have recognized him.
“What was that?” Lan Jinyan said, frowning, and Lan Qiren obediently stepped forward and repeated Wen Ruohan’s question at a much louder volume, more appropriate for Lan Jinyan’s elderly ears. He also politely clarified that the person next to him was named Wen Ruohan, just in case of any mistake.
“Oh, no, probably not,” the old man said once he’d finally understood. “I was always a homebody, spending all my time in Cloud Recesses while you were off making yourself famous! Never much liked the outside world, personally; too many people. Though my younger brother did go on a few night-hunts with the Eleventh Young Master, and I joined in once or twice. Charming young man, very charming. No other cultivator had a family even half as large as that in my day…my didi was fifth, you know, and that was already startling enough for us, positively unheard of. The notion of an eleventh…”
Wen Ruohan made a strangled sort of noise. “Yes, well,” he said, and cleared his throat with an effort. “My father thought himself an emperor, and decided to start on the part of that which he enjoyed most. Jin Guangshan reminds me of him, sometimes…you said you night-hunted with Ruoyu? What did you say your name was?”
Much to Lan Qiren’s bemusement, it turned out old Lan Jinyan actually had accurately recognized Wen Ruohan – which he supposed made sense given how little the man had changed over the years, and how often Lan Jinyan’s memory receded back into the past – and had, in fact, gone on a few night-hunts with Wen Ruohan’s favorite younger brother. Lan Qiren ended up making tea and eavesdropping on a frankly fascinating conversation that seemed to revolve in large part about rebuilding after ‘that awful war’ (they both danced around the subject for quite some time before tacitly conceding that it had apparently been caused by the Lan sect leader of the time, and now Lan Qiren was dying of curiosity, he’d have to check the library for clues), as well as something very vague and highly unsettling about a cultivation blight (he didn’t want to know) and some interesting (and long-deceased) people that they’d both known or at least known of, Wen Ruoyu (an accomplished warrior who excelled at all weapons but preferred the spear, as well as an avid collector of all sorts of random things, apparently) not the least of them.
It was the most excited Lan Qiren had seen his old teacher since his childhood.
“What brings you to the Cloud Recesses, anyway?” Lan Jinyan finally asked. “Your cultivation level’s too high to feel age the way the rest of us do, for all that I’ve lasted plenty longer than most.”
“He’s the Wen Sect Leader,” Lan Qiren said, not for the first time, and was dismissed with a “Yes, yes, Liangsheng, I know,” and a pat on the head as usual for his troubles. He tried not to roll his eyes and glared when Wen Ruohan smirked at him.
“The Wen sect never comes this far to the back halls,” Lan Jinyan said to Wen Ruohan. “It’d be far too suspicious for you lot of conquerors. You must have another purpose than mere sect business.”
“Oh, I do,” Wen Ruohan said cheerfully. “I’ve come to convince Qiren here to marry me.”
“I’m not marrying you,” Lan Qiren reminded him. “You’re marrying me. If I agree, which I haven’t!”
“Right, right. As he said: I’ve come to convince Qiren here to marry me in.”
Lan Jinyan blinked a little, clearly still processing the suggestion entirely. “You and little Liangsheng? Oh, that’ll be good, very good. He’s a little too eager to please, sometimes, but he’s got steel in him, a temper like nobody’s business, stubborn as anything. That’s the dragon part, I think, though sometimes I think we only say dragon because we won’t say donkey. At any rate, it’ll be a good match for your inexorable sun. I give you my blessing.”
Wen Ruohan looked taken aback at first, clearly not having expected anyone to dare, and then increasingly delighted.
Lan Qiren pinched the bridge of his nose.
Do not disrespect your elders. Be a filial child.
“Thank you, grand-uncle,” he said, voice as neutral as he could manage. He was acting sect leader, he didn’t need anyone’s blessing. “Much appreciated, grand-uncle.”
“Your brother would have been pleased,” Lan Jinyan continued, ignoring him entirely to speak with Wen Ruohan, who froze at once, going as still as a statute, or perhaps a corpse. “He always thought the world of you, you know. The only negative thing I ever heard him say about you was that the only mistake you’d ever made was in marrying that…ah, in marrying your first wife, that is. Thought she was beneath you, if I recall, said she was pedestrian and unequal to your greatness, always thinking first of advantage and second of people, and letting her emotions get ahead of her thoughts in either case…I agree whole-heartedly with that, Seventh Young Master Wen. You need someone who’s always thinking, and who will let you fill his heart with nothing but thoughts of you. A proper Lan, just the way you Wen are all so afraid of – yes, that’s what you need. Good, good. Never too late to start fixing things, is it?”
“I suppose not,” Wen Ruohan said thoughtfully.
He continued to be thoughtful all the way back to the guest rooms that had been assigned to him, and which Lan Qiren insisted he stay at under threat of – well, he’d think of something, anyway.
“Does it bother you?” he finally asked after they’d gotten there. “That I’m a peer to some old fart like that?”
“You’ve handled aging better,” Lan Qiren said dryly. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t known Wen Ruohan was a cultivation monster that had lived past the boundaries of a normal lifetime, even for cultivators – that all his contemporaries were dead, other than those that had been hiding away, one foot in the grave, like Lan Jinyan. “I’m just amazed he managed to get through an entire conversation intact. He’s normally quite forgetful.”
“He lives in the past,” Wen Ruohan said. “There’s nothing left here in the present for him. His close kin are gone, his wife and children sent along before him, those unfilial descendants that are left behind already distant strangers that know him only by reputation – no friends nor equals, no one who understands anything of the now-gone world in which he spent his life. Why not forget?”
He shook his head before Lan Qiren could answer.
“I know what you’re going to say,” he said. “Do not give up on learning, right? We must always proceed forward. Only the dead do not change…I’ve been living in the past for too long, striving towards old ambitions and nurturing old grudges and hatreds as if they were all that sustained me. Lao Nie refused to accept that, and so did you, and I – I suppose I am forced to admit that you both have a point.”
“Amazing. I didn’t know you knew how to do that.”
“Oh yes,” Wen Ruohan said, and pressed his lips on Lan Qiren’s cheek. “I remember. You are a paragon of righteousness, who only sometimes ducks out of parties to teach the host’s children some lessons because – how did you put it – the host was being an –”
Lan Qiren coughed pointedly to interrupt him, flushing. “You’ve made your point,” he said hastily.
“Have I? I could make it a few more times –”
“You will do no such thing. I’ve permitted too many liberties already.”
“Mm, indeed. How do your rules put it, do not be promiscuous?”
It was Promiscuity wasn’t prohibited, actually.
“That is not applicable,” Lan Qiren hissed, flushing red.
Wen Ruohan was grinning. “Isn’t it? Ah, yes, of course – there’s exceptions for the newly engaged. Naturally, that means that if you want to continue being a good little rule follower, you should agree with my proposal. Unless you’d prefer to admit your error and apply a little bit of discipline – appropriately witnessed by the victim, of course –”
“I will use that song I made on you,” Lan Qiren threatened, but it had the opposite effect intended: Wen Ruohan’s eyes lit up in delight.
“You know what it does now? Wonderful! Is it awful? I hope it’s terrible. I want to see –”
“Get lost.”
“Qiren! Is that any way to speak to your future wife? Where is your etiquette? Your chivalry?”
Lan Qiren was having trouble maintaining a stern expression.
He was also losing this argument.
An argument about the rules, no less. Utterly unacceptable.
“I’m serious,” he said instead. “Go back to your quarters. If you’re serious about your proposal, you’ll have to make it to the larger collection of sect elders, not to me; after all, it’s inappropriate for a man to arrange his own marriage. And if you want to see the sect elders, it’ll take me all day tomorrow to get them wrangled up if you want to see them the day after, and the day after that –”
“The day after that, tragically, your classes will be starting and you will have no choice but to absent yourself from the majority of our discussions,” Wen Ruohan said, and his smile was broad and genuine, shining like the summer sun in the sky, relentless and warm all in one; he knew agreement when he heard it. “As it should be, when one is negotiating a marriage. Don’t worry, Qiren! I promise to be good.”
Somehow, Lan Qiren doubted he would ever truly be that.
That was fine. Sad to say, Lan Qiren thought he might like him that way.

hey, i havent been in the cp fandom in ages, but i saw your post about cppses and was curious ? like did anything major happen with them (aside from ykno. cpr) ?
well! first i will preface with a few things.
this is my opinion on the subject and i'm not likely to change it so for anyone looking to debate in my inbox or replies.
Tumblr media
since i have a very...negative opinion on this situation, i'll put this on a readmore. if you don't want to see that towards cpl post shutdown or in general don't read further.
so! club penguin legacy shut down. which was basically one of the more popular cppses post cpr's shutdown, though it didn't have nearly as many players at the time of it's closure.
disney came for them with a dmca recently and while their twitter page currently says theyre "temporarily paused" theyre still offline as of now.
Tumblr media
i have my suspicions as to why. theres a reason why ttr, the biggest toontown server out there doesn't take donations after all.
Tumblr media
my friend @/selfawarecobalt aka ben also worked with them and is fine with me saying it here so i will mention he didn't enjoy his time as an artist by the time he quit at all (months before this). when we talked about his experiences working for them, he mentioned a godawful lack of communication and not being considered "real" staff despite making free art for them. so the fact that he too had a crummy experience leaves More of a bad taste in my mouth.
anyways cpl (as i mentioned a while ago on my nowadays sporadically active main) started acting like they were a brand, and used official staff names from #waddleon skits. and genuinely, i have never seen a cpps EVER call themself a brand. or have a page for parents...like a real version of club penguin would. i've also had Other issues on a more personal level like being harrassed for criticizing things in their discord server, and seeing how the community treated some nonbinary characters and sometimes real nonbinary people raised my hackles too.
i could go on about my feelings but honestly? cpls not worth my time anymore. most cppses aren't worth my time anymore. i told myself a while ago when cpr closed that i wasnt gonna sit here and let cppses dictate how i feel about the real game, and i wont! other than a small handful of cppses i feel some level of fondness for (cp3d, cpr, vintage penguin) or am cautiously interested in (super penguin/scp's rehaul) i feel completely and utterly Nothing towards cppses. and the ones i dont feel nothing towards, i feel Annoyance. and so, after being informed a cpps recently made a tumblr account i drew gun scrabble to make my stance clear: i do Not want my art associated with cppses if i can help it unless I go out of my way to make art for them!
that, and honestly? most cppses are just too stressful to be worth playing anymore, at least for me. you're either anxiously waiting for disney to kill it, or youre dealing with a volatile community. i have much more fun thinking about and rotating my penguin ocs (and canon characters but i Especially love my silly noncanon birds and "birds" <3) than i have playing cppses since well...when cpr closed!
tldr: cpl closed, presumably due to their patreon and acting increasingly more like a brand/corporate entity and not a fangame. local bird drawing nerd learned to stop worrying about cppses and Enjoy the fanart and ocs they make instead

Happy STS! How is teaching/passing on knowledge done in your world? Are there schools? Apprenticeships? And what are the popular things to learn? what are the less popular things to learn?
Hi There, thanks for the Ask!!! Hmm, there's a helluva lot I could talk about here, even if I narrow the scope down to the United Commonwealth, so I'll try and keep it succinct.
Under the longstanding "Ward of the State" attitude/policy of the UC, all children residing within its borders are entitled to full, free education until the age of eighteen. Decades of policymaking on the part of the Directorate-General of Education, one of the largest and best funded such organs of the Commission of the UC, have led to the near total abolition of "Public Schools" in favour of government funded institutions, as part of UC attempts to cut down older, established lineages in education seen as breeding and enforcing the ties and distinctions of near-aristocratic class which still lingers in some member states' legacies. In the official stance of the DGOE, Every School is a Good School.
Education from the ages of 17 to 18 is split into two tracks, which are intended lead either to university or the workforce. In the former case, such tertiary education bears much resemblance to previous years in terms of a focus on in-depth academic rigour, while the second path is designed to teach "professional" skills and more closely fits the idea of an "Apprenticeship". There are furiously denied whispers of a distinction in at least the appearence of "class" between these seperate paths.
I'll have to be a little vague when it comes to subjects. "Popularity" doesn't really mean much for Primary to Secondary levels of education, what with UC desires for as uniform of an educational experience as is possible, and so all students everywhere learn the same set of subjects with the excepotion of between one and two non-English mother tongues, out of a diplomatic respect for member-state linguistic identities.
[*** A lot of the ideas I get for this come about from the current education system of my own country, Singapore, so expect a lot of stuff to change, especially when I have to come up with proper names!]

So I've seen a lot of people asking for 3RACHA to add their music onto Spotify and as convenient as it'd be for us to listen to it I was thinking about it and I remember really think it'd be for the best. Let me explain.
So 3RACHA was created when Chan Changbin and Han were trainees. I'm not entirely sure what JYP Ent.'s policy on releasing music predebut as trainees is like but I reckon they probably had to pull a few strings to be able to just add their songs on YouTube and Soundcloud and even more to actually perform at underground concerts. Moreover, I'm not sure how monetizing works on Soundcloud (if there is any at all) but I know that on YouTube it tends to be a hassle to get the permission to be monetized, meaning their songs probably arent actually monetized. On top of that, I don't think 3RACHA as just a group are actually tied to JYP Ent. This basically means that if their music is monetized, none of the revenue would go to JYP Ent. despite the three of them having been trainees under the same company at the time which business speaking is a horrendous move, especially with how popular they now are (and again maybe they did monetize and the revenue went partly to JYP Ent. as part of their contract, in which case what I'm saying is false which is a possibility but this is my stance from what I understood).
Now the problem arises when you take into consideration that 3RACHA isn't just 2 teens and a young adult messing around with music programs and lyrics as a way to express themselves, their worries or just have a bit of fun, it's now what could be considered a powerhouse trio of amazing producers/songwriters capable of writing worldwide hits and performing them with the rest of their now eight member group. The stakes of what they do has just increased exponentially throughout the years, to the point that there is viscerally no way they'd get away with a song like, for example, WOW on an album. The fans may love it, but it could simply never work because, well, the lyrics are so un-idol like in general and one of an idol's most important jobs is to keep their idol image, not compare themselves to Shrek and the person this "love" song's about to Fiona.
On top of that, to release their songs on Spotify now, they'd have to officially debut as a JYP Ent. artist which means all their songs would probably be released under a "pre-debut album" (kinda like Mixtape is) which entails the release of new tracks. As fans that's great, however for 3RACHA that means having to work on both SKZ and 3RACHA as well as tours and promotions which is pretty much impossible to do all that on top of writing and producing for two groups. Sure a lot of kpop artists handle both a solo career and group career, but they usually have a writing and production team for both, or at the very least one of them.
So yeah, those are my thoughts on the subject. Personally I think the main way we could get them on Spotify is during their contract renewal or if they decide to disband as that's the main moment they'd be able to make changes to the contract's policy on monetizing 3RACHA songs (which could work, afterall it'd be a similar agreement to Nayeon going solo and still being in Twice although the fact it is a subgroup amongst a group could change that idrk) or if they disband then they could release it independently and just carry on from there. Or maybe it'd be a whole GOT7 situation, who knows.
And most importantly keep in mind that this is just deductions from what I know. What I say here is not irrefutable and please don't take it as facts and I could be entirely wrong. In fact, feel free to express your thoughts and objections, I'd be interested in hearing different points of view!

Lupe Fiasco & Chris Webby vaccine Twitter  debate summary NOTES by Eric Leo 108
Wed Jan 11th 2023 2 hour twitter convo
youtube
These are my thoughts and summary of what I heard. The timestamps in the description
Samson reaction video, Webby Tweet
Most of These rappers have no idea what they’re talking about.
Lupe is actually quite intelligent and defining his terms.
The definition of government and establishment is not the same.
As Voltaire would say, if you wish to quarrel with me, define your terms.
It seem Chris it’s getting his thoughts and feelings from his tribe, but when he’s analyzed he can’t definitively express those feelings which makes him adjust his opinion because it’s not thought out
Like how Chris says Lupe shifted his stance without ever being able to articulate what he was talking about
Chris seems like a well intentioned decent gentleman but really needs too educate himself and not listen to the news.
24:15 from 2 hr
Chris is talking about how he doesn’t trust the world economic forum but doesn’t see how that relates although what Lupe is saying is their not an authority
“The people who control the official narrative on the vaccine are the people that research and make the vaccines”
You get the gist that Chris Webby really just doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
It seems rand Paul’s anti-Fauci product campaign has infiltrated the mind of Chris Webby.
35:10 Robert malone
This is indicative of other people, but
I love how Chris has no common sense
He doesn’t understand the vaccine
And instead of taking the recommendation of the overwhelming majority of doctors
Chris webby is clinging to the one scientist that regrets it
Like 99 out of 100 doctors are telling you to get the vaccine and can prove its effectiveness and you cling to the minuscule 1 after never understanding how vaccines work, how they made, or who stands to benefit correctly.
Again, he can’t find his terms he thinks secondhand information is first hand.
I agree with Lupe, Chris is a good guy but has no idea what he’s talking about.
The reason Chris can’t get out his whole statement is because it’s so demonstrably false, misleading, or vague Lupe forces him to clarify which triggers webby.
This is a true example of how to negate your opponent.
You have the premise and subject. What most people have is the subject based off a false premise, that’s how propaganda works. Lupes tactic here is to attack their premise with its fundamental in making a cogent argument.
41:50
Missing details
That creates a false equivalency
Chris thinks adverse effects means terrible repercussions when it really just means regular procedural affect and mistakes.
Chris says there’s a lot of things he does know, but this discussion was evidence that when pressed he can’t articulate facts.
He’s getting this false information from the right.
Vaccines are like global warming in that there is no reason to deny the science, it’s clearly happening & shots are clearly effective
Basically the best way to tell if you deny global warming is to ask their political association.
The reason people don’t believe is gop political affiliation which represents faith & “freedom” (ie recklessness) & investments in carbon fuel
I did this whole thing to show how stupid the average person  is.
Just because You have a bunch of followers and can regurgitate incorrect Republican talking points doesn’t mean your right.
We need better education. Debunking conspiracies and formal logic in schools
And reinstate the fairness in reporting doctrine
48:00
Sudden adult death syndrome conspiracy
Scientists rarely change the fundamentals
The details, methods, and understanding get updated
When people say, the Earth is overpopulated, it’s not that the Earth is overpopulated, it’s that the resources we consume, aren’t renewable and contribute to the decline of the biosphere.
We’re bad bacteria on the earth that adversely affects other life the larger our population.
Chris Webby gets caught multiple time saying he doesn’t know to pivotal questions and interprets this as Lupe not letting him talk.
The fact that Chris says he’s not an anti-Vaxter, but just had a problem with particular vaccine coraborates my point that he’s not representing the science and facts but rather a wrong political ideology
This is what I’m talking about with the political stance. Chris trusts vaccines but not the one that republicans have made talking points for people to think their right about.
1:25:00
Chris wants a black and white answer when he needs to be making a risk management analysis.
The chances of you getting COVID and the repercussions are higher than the possible side effects you might experience from the vaccine.
1:32:00
I’m glad they finally got into the weeds on affects.
Again Chris clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about when he doesn’t understand the words and their meaning.
Lupe Is literally asking Chris to define a word that he is using in the premise of his argument. Who’s subject is the vaccine is dangerous. And Chris says it’s a loaded question.
It’s clear Chris isn’t highly educated or even been to a debate.
Unlike MaDonald, who I think does this for clout
Chris just believes his own ignorance
The line of questioning that Lupe presented was required to extract the truth and Chris misidentifies his ignorance as not allowing his side to talk.
Chris didn’t bring anything credible to the table to argue, and then they did argue, Then Chris can’t define his own words and accuses Lupe of not addressing which I’m also addressing here.
Ignorance reigns which is why almost half America is republican
I’ll tell you what doesn’t make sense Chris
Sudden adult Death syndrome makes about as much sense as spontaneous human combustion and probably happens just as often.
The risk assessment you did for getting the vaccine
That you don’t understand basic medical words but have to the audacity to condemn fauci
Lupe handled himself like an adult and did what he was supposed to do while Chris felt attacked  for not defining his argument.
Chris is an example of how ignorance and the republican agenda hurts America
In Summary
Lupe: you’re either trusting COVID or your trusting a vaccine which is safe and effective
Thank you donating to that wildlife foundation Chris.

Pope: Priests May Bless Homosexual Couples, But Marriage Is Between Man And Woman
Tumblr media
Pope Francis gives an audience to the children of Santa Marta dispensary at Paul-VI hall on December 17, 2023 in The Vatican. OAN’s Brooke Mallory
In a new statement issued on Monday, Pope Francis formally endorsed the practice of priests blessing same-sex couples, stating that anyone seeking God’s love and compassion should not have to undergo a “moral analysis” in order to be granted it.
This marks a major departure in Vatican doctrine.
“One should not prevent or prohibit the Church’s closeness to people in every situation in which they might seek God’s help through a simple blessing,” said the document from the Vatican.
However, the shift in policy does not alter the church’s position on marriage.
It states unequivocally that such blessing requests from homosexual couples should not be turned down, and it also mentions how anyone pursuing a transcendent relationship with God and those seeking his compassion or mercy should not be subjected to “an exhaustive moral analysis” as a prerequisite for obtaining it, offering a comprehensive explanation of the term “blessing” in scripture.
“Ultimately, a blessing offers people a means to increase their trust in God,” the document reads. “The request for a blessing, thus, expresses and nurtures openness to the transcendence, mercy, and closeness to God in a thousand concrete circumstances of life, which is no small thing in the world in which we live.”
“It is a seed of the Holy Spirit that must be nurtured, not hindered,” the Pope added.
The Vatican also maintains that a marriage is an unbreakable bond “between a man and a woman.”
In 2021, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith at the Vatican said that “God cannot bless sin,” so the church was unable to approve of a marriage between two males or two females.
Even the progressive Pope Francis seemed taken aback by the uproar the statement had caused, despite the fact that he had given his formal approval for its release. He dismissed the official who had written it shortly after it was published and reportedly started to prepare for a reversal.
The Vatican stated in the updated document that the church must avoid engaging in “doctrinal or disciplinary schemes, especially when they lead to a narcissistic and authoritarian elitism whereby instead of evangelizing, one analyzes and classifies others, and instead of opening the door to grace, one exhausts his or her energies in inspecting and verifying.”
It emphasized that everyone involved in “irregular” couplings, homosexual or heterosexual, is living in sin. However, it also expressed that this fact should not rob them of God’s compassion or love.
“Thus, when people ask for a blessing, an exhaustive moral analysis should not be placed as a precondition for conferring it,” the document continues.
As a “huge step forward” and a “dramatic shift” from the Vatican’s 2021 stance, the new statement was highly praised by Rev. James Martin, a notable advocate for greater acceptance of LGBTQ+ Catholics.
The document “recognizes the deep desire in many Catholic same-sex couples for God’s presence and help in their committed relationships,” the Reverend said in an email. “Along with many Catholic priests, I will now be delighted to bless my friends in same-sex marriages.”

anyways heres some official stances of mine, subject to change if someone gives me good points and information.
inc//st is wrong.
pe//oph/lia is wrong.
M//PS are invalid and wrong.
Defund the police. fuck the US gov.
Black Lives Matter.
The pet play trope is mostly either a kink or a cope, either way i dont actually give a shit if you post it. I don’t personally f/with it or like it, but I’m an adult and therefore I know how to block and scroll.
G/T is *NOT* inherently sexual or romantic. For me, it’s my special interest and gives me gender euphoria. If it is a kink for someone, that’s none of my business. Again, block and scroll if you don’t like it.
G/T of real people is fine as long as it’s not sexualized. gt is not fucking sexual yall ffs 😭
believe it or not, if you don’t like vore you can filter out tags 😱😱
you can enjoy media by a creator you dont agree with. youre not a piece of shit. you don’t agree with them, you’re just enjoying their media.
digging deep on twitter to find past mistakes is so fucking stupid. people make mistakes and do stupid shit. if their stance and morality has changed, just take that and fuck off
