it's genuinely frightening how many "leftist activists" seem to be, above all else, downright chomping at the bit to find groups of people they think they're allowed to hurt. some of you are downright enthusiastic about finding targets, more than you are about doing anything to lift up marginalized communities, and then some of the targets you find are marginalized communities. like wow asshole good job shitting on "weird queers" that's awesome you're really helping everyone out here that's great. great job talking about all the horrible things you hope happen to the powerless citizens of a country that's doing terrible things, you're really showing a lot of compassion, talking about how you hope they all die. You understand that they are also human beings.
like dude fuck off. human rights are for all humans even the ones you don't like

wait so you think it’s okay to say a ship is gross and incest and put thay in the main fandom tag because it’s a personal opinion?
or did I misread that I’m sorry I can’t tell help
I think it's fine to state your opinion.
Putting hate in a main fandom tag for that subject is in bad taste though. Putting it where it will be seen by people who clearly enjoy it (i.e. putting a ship hate post under a tag with said ship) is in bad taste and is, yes, bad fandom etiquette.
It's fine to state your opinion in your own house, but if you share it in an area where it WILL be seen with people who disagree (under their tags, where they frequent and follow) then you are going to make drama and cause trouble, yes.
Now, if I made a post like this
Ravioli is gross, why the heck would you do that? #ravioli #link x ravio
That's in bad taste. I'm not in my house anymore, I'm sending out a letter to everyone in the clearly pro-(fill in the blank) neighborhood.
Meanwhile, if I said
Ravioli is a squick for me, they're almost the same person?!?!?!?! #tw selfcest #fandom opinions #just no? #ravio/i
Not a big deal, I'm tagging, because tagging is polite, but I'm not sending it where it will cause chaos (under #ravioli). I'm using #ravio/i because that's the tag that (as far as I'm aware) non-shippers use as a warning when discussing the ship, but not supporting it, so others can block, but it's not under the main tag.
(Note: This is my understanding about that tag, I could very well be wrong, but for the purposes of this example, I am right.)
So, I'm saying it's not okay to send hate into the fanclub, but you are entitled to your own thoughts on your blog. Just be sure to use the correct tags for your group and not for the people who love the thing, because that will make trouble!

Ice cold takes from a Transgender Woman:
Men are not inherently Evil
Everyone has the capacity for evil
Transgender Men are men
Transgender Women are women
Excluding Cisgender Men from your spaces requires Transgender Men to out themselves if they want to engage (Same for Women)
Anyone can be Non-Binary, there is no "look" or requirement
Non-binary masculine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces, many are just treated as men and predators
Non-binary feminine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces without being seen as "Woman-Lite"
Edited the wording on the first point because too many terfs keep thinking I'm their friend.

*gripping my hands so hard on a young trans persons shoulders that their bones are about to break*
do not log on to 4chan.com. do not get involved in passing olympics. you will always lose. do not put afab/amab* in your bio, that is cisgender society trying to know your “real” gender. you do not exist to please cisgender people. there is no ‘right’ way to be trans. learn your goddamn history, listen to your elders. listen to other disenfranchised groups. listen to intersex people and check yourself for intersexism. listen to trans poc and check yourself for racism. listen to disabled people and check yourself for ableism. be open to learning always. labels are meant to fit you, not the other way around. you are not weird or predatory for simply being attracted to others. you’re fine if you’re not a skinny white twink or a barbie doll. you’re fine if your body is ‘weird’. you’re fine if you don’t have heavy or any dysphoria. it’s okay if you actually don’t want to transition or anything like that. life is worth living at any stage, you deserve to be happy. I SWEAR THAT YOU ARE OKAY!!!!!
*ok editing this bc i think there are some major misunderstandings here and also ignorance on my part so lemme clear the air. when i wrote “don’t put tme/tma” in ur bio i did NOT mean to say that discussions around transmisogyny aren’t important or that tme/tma cannot be helpful terminology, and i’m super sorry that it came off that way. also editing bc someone pointed out to me that the original phrasing of this post is very misinforming, so to also clarify, tme/tma was a term invented by transfems to talk about transfeminine experiences which i will admit that i was unfamiliar with the history of tme/tma as a term and was introduced to it through some really bad online queer discourse. but it’s always been of my opinion that discussion around all forms of bigotry, including transmisogyny, are important and need to be had. i explained in a rb, which i’ll link when i have more time, that my issue was with the way the term is used as only identification/oppression olympics rather than genuine nuanced discussion about the ways that transphobia/transmisogyny/transandrophobia/etc function and interact with each other. i advised young trans people to not put tma/tme in their bios, bc i know that the wrong people (not just cis people, but transphobes and assholes who just want to get under your skin) would use any indication of your direction of transition to try and misgender you. or specifically in the case of tma/tme, tell you that your experiences/thoughts are not valid or reasonable bc you were tma or tma.
i realize how not originally clarifying that makes me look stupid (and a transmisogynist), so seriously, i’m sorry for that major mishap. tma/tme are not inherently bad words and you are 1000% allowed to use whatever terminology fits you and your experiences best. so as another word of advice: please do not let some rando on the internet tell you how you should talk about your experiences
(also idgaf if you don’t “log on” to 4chan or that it’s “not a website”, the fact that any of you know that is shameful and upsetting)

I’m putting “mansplaining” on a shelf with the other terms the internet isn’t allowed to have anymore like trigger and gaslight. Mansplaining is a specific phenomenon that happens within certain contexts and I feel it’s just been turned into “any conversation that’s mildly annoying you are having with someone who happens to be a man/masculine.”
#more often than not the examples I see on tumblr are either demonizing neurodivergent behavior and sssuming the worst#which we don’t need more of tbh#and or justifying telling trans men to shut up#transandrophobia#mine#discourse#autism#notifications muted

the most frustrating thing about AI Art from a Discourse perspective is that the actual violation involved is pretty nebulous
like, the guys "laundering" specific artists' styles through AI models to mimic them for profit know exactly what they're doing, and it's extremely gross
but we cannot establish "my work was scraped from the public internet and used as part of a dataset for teaching a program what a painting of a tree looks like, without anyone asking or paying me" as, legally, Theft with a capital T. not only is this DMCA Logic which would be a nightmare for 99% of artists if enforced to its conclusion, it's not the right word for what's happening
the actual Violation here is that previously, "I can post my artwork to share with others for free, with minimal risk" was a safe assumption, which created a pretty generous culture of sharing artwork online. most (noteworthy) potential abuses of this digital commons were straightforwardly plagiarism in a way anyone could understand
but the way that generative AI uses its training data is significantly more complicated - there is a clear violation of trust involved, and often malicious intent, but most of the common arguments used to describe this fall short and end up in worse territory
by which I mean, it's hard to put forward an actual moral/legal solution unless you're willing to argue:
Potential sales "lost" count as Theft (so you should in fact stop sharing your Netflix password)
No amount of alteration makes it acceptable to use someone else's art in the production of other art without permission and/or compensation (this would kill entire artistic mediums and benefit nobody but Disney)
Art Styles should be considered Intellectual Property in an enforceable way (impossibly bad, are you kidding me)
it's extremely annoying to talk about, because you'll see people straight up gloating about their Intent To Plagiarize, but it's hard to stick them with any specific crime beyond Generally Scummy Behavior unless you want to create some truly horrible precedents and usher in The Thousand Year Reign of Intellectual Property Law
#hoped I was mostly done discoursing about this deeply annoying subject#but twitter's butlerian jihad is starting to pick up more and more steam on here

Hey perisex people, who the fuck cares what intersex people identify with. It's not your fucking business. In general, stop fucking asking people about their agab and body parts. People will identify with whatever feels comfortable and if you don't like it, it's no one's problem but yours. Stop trying to be the HOA of identity.
Also while I'm here please stop using slurs.

tommy calling buck ‘evan’ during their entire relationship and the first, and only time, he calls him buck is after he breaks up with him. eddie calling buck ‘evan’ only once and it was when he gave buck his goddamn son. the only time tommy called him buck was before leaving and the only time eddie called him evan was when he gave buck proof of him and chris staying. of them wanting buck. of them keeping buck. id say “which could meaning nothing!” but it actually means everything.

a criticism I’ve often seen of ds9’s handling of odo’s character specifically is that the show never explores that he previously worked for a fascist government and try to paint over it by saying he was “fair to both cardassians and bajorans” which… I’ve personally never understood because from my view they definitely do explore that, in fact it’s literally the entire premise of things past.
that whole episode is literally dedicated to deconstructing the idea that odo treated “both sides” fairly during the occupation and showing that he does in fact have blood on his hands (to the point where there is a scene where he hallucinates literally having blood on his hands). and though the episode only shows one specific instance of him siding with the cardassians out of convenience and his desire for order it deliberately ends on the question if this was the only time it happened or whether things like that were a common occurrence with him.
idk maybe people wanted a full arc dedicated to it instead of a singular episode but even then I still feel like odo’s tendency to fall into or sympathise with fascist ways of thinking is shown as one of his biggest overarching character flaws. when the dominion occupies the station, he almost sides with them not just because he craves the companionship of other changelings but also because they sooth his desire for order and (negative) peace. and those desires are often things he actively has to fight against to also fight against the fascism of the dominion.
and I think that’s actually a really interesting conflict for his character. having to learn to control those impulses from influencing his worldview too much lest it hurt the people he cares about most. especially because I think it’s a heightened version of patterns that often play out in real life — a lot of people have unexamined biases and beliefs that often make them susceptible to fascist ways of thinking even if they don’t want to be.
obviously odo has done things that would very much complicate his moral standing in real life, I’m not denying that at all but the same can be said for a lot of the ds9 cast. I just think it’s odd to single him out specifically and act like the show gave him some massive pass when I really don’t think it did.
#odo#ds9#star trek#shut up abe#me odo posting in 2025? it’s more likely than you think#this has been on my mind for literally 2 years atp tho and I just saw something that reminded me of it#also disclaimer ofc I’m not saying you have to like odo if u don’t that’s okay I’m just saying I find this specific point of discourse odd

I'm absolutely losing my mind seeing "We need to not treat men and masculinity as inherently evil and worthy of hatred, and not fall back into biological and gender essentialism because that hurts everyone, including trans women" being misinterpreted as "Women need to stop oppressing men", "I think trans women are actually men" or "You specifically who have trauma around men need to get over it because men are the real victims". It's so willfully disingenuous. It makes me sick how willing people are to read in bad faith, especially how willing other trans women are to suddenly start harassing and dogpiling another trans woman.
I am a trans woman too, I understand what it's like to feel unsafe, but it helps no one this cynical attitude that crops up every time someone suggests being kind to men in our lives. "You could save a man you know from falling down the alt-right pipeline" is not the same as "It's your fault that men murder you". "There are people who could be on our side if we don't meet them with immediate hostility" is not the same as "You need to shut up and stop criticizing power structures for the sake of your oppressors' feelings" (I promise there are a lot of people who can be taught about their complicity in oppression without immediately shutting down but you need to work with them). This kind of attitude isn't somehow more informed or correct. It's just lashing out to avoid considering one's own agency.
Making a better, safer world for ourselves requires all kinds of work, but it's always work. It's hard to try to reach out to people who could very realistically harm us, it's work that not all of us can afford to or are able to do and that's fine because we're all just trying to survive. But some of you would rather condescend, tear each other down, and make more enemies before even considering it a possibility.
#Don't expect anymore discourse posts from me I left that life behind long time ago#I don't like to engage in discourse and I do apologize but man#“biological essentialism is bad” is not a new take#Fuck off with calling it “vibes-based” politics#absolutely rotten#If I have to see “haha nooo your so sexy don't reblog the x post” one more time I'm gonna vomit because it's always the most rancid people#whose politics revolve around being as bitter as possible and refusing to do anything#couching a refusal to do anything in leftist language and ideology#More to the point I feel like too many people interpret “you can do something to make things better” as “it's your fault things are so shit#shark rambles

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded mfer happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.
#seeing some discourse and im not saying lucy grey didnt know#im saying she never dropped the kind of hints that she knew like she did in the movie#or if she did snow isnt worried about them until he very suddenly is consumed by them#snow is not concerned about whether or not she believed him. of course she did! hes snow!#but then shes gone…. for a while……#and its the sudden immediate drastic unravelling that comes across so clearly in the book#that i knew wouldn’t translate to screen yet still cant help but miss#the hunger games#coriolanus snow#tbosas#lucy gray baird#not a crime or anything just a note that i cannot stop thinking about#the ballad of songbirds and snakes#this is all from memory of reading it quite a while ago. so maybe 3 pages is an exaggeration#but i remember it happening VERY quickly and without much external cause#like we as the reader have no indication as to whether shes nearby or not.#snow has no idea either. he just SUSPECTS. and his suspicion breeds the hatred that has been bubbling inside him all this time#he hates how she undoes him. he hates that he WOULD run away with her if shed let him keep his secrets#and he HATES more than anything that she makes him WANT to tell his secrets#he wants to be vulnerable and reveal the ugly nasty parts about himself and still be loved#but he does not let himself and it is everyone’s downfall#he chooses cruelty bc it is easy and familiar and makes him feel more powerful than the vulnerable give and take that real love requires

Are people actually getting upset over the “I hate people” plate? It’s literally just a funny misprint, people need to get over themselves.

Ok well as a mother I don’t think it’s cool that kids are getting a plate where their role model tells them that they hate everyone :/

What about all those cases where kids imitate what they see on tv?! The “I hate people” plate could have REAL CONSEQUENCES!!

Again kids are smart. So smart. Like, scarily so. My nine year old brothers built a rollercoaster. There are kids out there who can play multiple instruments. There are programs teaching kids how to make robots out of Legos because they know kids are smart enough. Trust me, as an older sister I have been around kids enough to know they are (annoyingly) smart.

i love the way sansa is so proud to be catelyn's daughter. in a world where women are expected to assimilate to their husbands' world once they get married, there's sansa adopting her mother's gods into her creed, taking pride in having her mother's looks, often choosing to wear the colors of her mother's house and, most importantly, drawing strength from her mother's memory. what's so great about this is that it's not an act of spite against her father. she's just proud of being both stark and tully. it's like arya said: the woman is important too.
#even better that arya said this in response to jon criticizing cersei for having her family's flag at level with the baratheon flag..#post written a while back in response to senseless discourse i saw where ppl were fighting to see which stark sister resembled ned more#this really annoyed me bcuz they were full on erasing cat and lowkey acting like it was an insult to their fav girlie to be compared to her#and a lot of these people keep posting abt how much they love cat and giving themselves a feminist pat on the back for ''defending'' her..#sansa stark#catelyn tully#asoiaf
