i have my research paper, yeah? the 50+ page one of research i conducted myself (yay me) and was working basically all day on an award for it - up to $7000 :0 !!!

and i was discouraged bc my advisor was adding so many edits to my paper i was like wow, i’m not a good writer… but i pushed thru and did majority of the edits they suggested and it was good!!

AND THEN the application closed an hour early even though the OFFICIAL website said a specific time zone!!!! but it closed a time zone ahead WHICH I DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT bc you had to click a more info page to see the app actually closed at that time???

i emailed my university and was like “hey, what’s up with this” and provided proof so wish me luck !!

so sorry if none of that makes sense, i’m just ranting bc wtf!!! that is so messed up!!!!

vent post because I am a mess and i've just got to stick it all somewhere. I don't even know what or why I'm putting it here. Just there is way too much inside my head.

Just a whole pile of stuff. (this isnt even the half of it). A whole bunch of things I thought i was okay about but maybe I'm really not. And that maybe my whole scale of okayness is kinda fucked up. And i seem to randomly swing from telling myself this is fine to no wait its all pretty fucked up. Basically that meme of the dog in the on fire house going this is fine. Welcome to everything is on fire but we're not freaking out about it because we're past that point. But sometimes it feels honestly okay and then something else hits.

Nothing in my life is even that bad. I'm getting my shit together. Its probably better than it has been in a while (or maybe its not, i dont know). I'm making positive progress towards the future. I drafted a job application. I'm trying to unfuck my tertiary studies. I literally keep telling myself I'm an adult, even though I feel like a fuck up kid still.

I just want to move the hell out. So I'm making steps towards it. Not because its bad, bad. More conflicting access needs I guess. And I feel trapped here and on guard and responsible for everything. Or Im just a problem or have problems because clearly everyone else is fine but that's probably not a great way to think.

Not sure what I'm feeling right now. Actually mostly just numb and vaguely ill. Yay for crushing down all your emotions until you can't feel them any more. Because, yeah, I can't be upset about things. It scares and worries people and I'm already way too intense.

And when I do it, i seem calm and fine to people, and hey neither crying nor panicking has be a good thing. Except I'm blank when I know I'm upset or would be, and its not fine. Honestly probably a bit messed up. Huh.

(I know its not good for me. I am so very aware of this) (i know hiding stuff is literally one of my biggest 'things are getting bad' red flags)

I'd probably be way more okay if I was crying and yelling and getting mad about stuff. Instead of just quietly, calmly imploding. Or walking around and smiling and acting normal. (its only sometimes, not all the time. And just happens to be right now)

Also past shit keeps metaphorically walking up to me, and maybe I didn't process it great. because its evidently still bothering me even though its years ago.

(Yes, realising some of this stuff was a That moment when you're writing and you realise that wow character has a whole bunch of issues. Then that was at least 50-70% me.)

I do keep picking myself up from the floor over and over because I'm too stubborn not to.

Also: I'm so sick of being misgendered by family. Like they do support me and are trying with different pronouns. But getting it right barely any of the time. And if I call them out on it to correct them, then they get upset. So I just have to put up with it silently, and yeah, she's trying, so I feel like I can't be upset about it but it still hurts, and maybe its not good enough. And I don't even know whether I could change my name, at least not without upsetting peopl, I've been told "please don't change you name, I like your name" but I don't even know if it feels like me. It's like people are supportive, but being nonbinary or trans or anything isn't actually a valid option. They/them isn't that hard if you practice it and even if it is it's still very much important to me. And none of them think of me as such which is maybe the problem. Except my friends, who actually do get it right which is nice.

I guess I'm struggling. And also all my friends and family have way too much of their own stuff going on.

So stupid vent post yelling into the void, it is then. Maybe I'm just being dramatic about it all.

I'd say I'm okay and don't worry (if anyone's even fucking reading this) but that would probably be more concerning. But I'll survive this like I survived every other fucking thing the universe has thrown at me.

Theyre mostly here so i Can reason easier WHY cc would have nightmares of characters that Dont even exist outside of the cartoon. they Also set up charlies death (a Puppet version is here!!!) and are the Base for the main gang in-universe :D

its Also an idea that there is One (1) springlock suit, beclaws not Only is a real one INCREDIBLY impractical, its also... Hello, I put aside all my things to read the new chapter right away and I'm EXCITED. I'm all in such emotions when you talked about the confrontation I thought about something like this they needed this conversation, I love this Vegas so much, the way it is really trying to make everything better. tropic of cancer (this one wasnt an original conclusion, i got it from the music video that was going around houseblr.. anyway i love the song. im a ballet dancer also and like not to geek but that harp progression is from a pas de deux of the sugarplum fairy. gutpunch choice. to get into nutcracker lore: tchaikovsky was especially close to his sister and she died while he was composing the nutcracker (which prior to that point he didn't have much inspiration for) and it became kind of dedicated to his dead sister. most modern productions do it with a more settling ending with clara/marie/masha going back home but iirc in the original she stays in the land of the sweets. which.. an irreversible transition someone goes through. its been hypothesized that the sugarplum fairy represents womanhood (and clara cannot go back from that) OR the afterlife (which clara also cannot go back from, and tchaikovsky lost his own sister to). and also i have a kind of pavlovian response to nutcracker music at this point so i kept anticipating the descending violins after the harp progession that there is in the nutcracker music. but it's just looping. stuck in the limbo before the end. 'you can't come back / you won't come back'... and to tie it back to hilson. that amv was insane i cant even analyze it. also the fact it was written about grieving someone lost to cancer.. and the lines (got to like what kills / it kills just to know what kills).. wilson the oncologist and house not being able to do anything but accept that it's cancer and he can't swoop in and diagnose and save wilson. that was long huh)

Devlog 2: Assets , bug fixing & kool stuff

hello.. we're back here ...! this month, i worked on more talk sprites (as you could see from the picture above), a game mechanic , directing cutscenes, more maps… and bug fixing

i've been bogging down on some (overdue) asset work this month... and i think im reaching the end of the road for that part (in terms of maps)

Asset work

speaking of roads, im done with the street map.. which is one where i've experienced countless difficulties with, even as of remapping.

it used to look like that, but now it looks like this! isn't that great?. i'm thinking of using animated assets to give more life to maps where clouds are shown.. just for a bit of movement, but i'm not sure how that works, so time will tell. also, i reached my map making dl!! for once! im very happy :^) i thought i wouldn't make it, but i did.

with other assets, i'm pretty proud of the stuff i've drawn for shan daxing's (another character in the game) . he's so cute. i think all of the assets where hes blushing are my favorite, because i can't pick one.

the assets for a side character have also been done! 100% now because she doesn’t have that much screen time, so the work is a little bit light on her.. unlike the main trio’s with their 3 separate outfits and all.

Autohotkey goodness

i also found out about the existence of ahk and the power of ctrl+enter for adjusting things, so i definitely got a lot of things done in that department :^) i capitalized (iirc) all dialogue that needed so + changed every dim text box to be windowed. yay! ahk is also the reason why i made so much progress during this month. most of the cutscenes have also been directed (aka have movement in them).

i’m thinking of adding cgs to the game as well. this is a draft to show what they’ll be like. slightly cropped and not so polished. i'm not focusing that much on them these days, so the earlier cgs i have planned would take a while for me to draw.. my priority right now is technical issues over aesthetic ones.

about the game mechanic

the “game mechanic” i mentioned before the cut is actually pretty simple to explain! there are parts in the game where you get a bit of breathing time + interact with the objects in-game to get optional lore and extras. during that breathing time, i’ve made it so that whenever you talk to a character in the same room, you can get a talking mini game where … in certain choices — reveal some said lore. this mechanic is partly inspired by blood orange (the mechanic’s gameplay) along with slow damage (the breathing time from the story).

angel care has a lot of lore.. and i don’t want to info dump players in every cutscene where it’s relevant, so i made some of them “explorable” to say the least. the idea of “breathing time”, as i mentioned.. came from slow damage because i think that game does well at giving players a break from all of the bam wow story & lore with its exploration mechanic. it’s very simple, but effective! it lets players control the pace instead of the game doing it for them & makes them take time to process the story whilst at it. it's pretty normal, but it does the job in relaying info.. & making said info explorable/optional

final words

just this week, i've started to playtest the game chronologically ^^ i'm still in early game, but the bugs there are being fixed at a relatively quick rate to make up for my tendency to not playtest whilst coding... we're getting there! may is coming up and for that month, i'll have a lot of time to work on the game itself.

you didn’t even answer his question, getting straight to your point. “toru, can you come over soon?”

he laughed lightly at the urgency of the statement. “hold on, sweetheart. maybe we should go on a date first.” 

your silence was seemingly unamused by his joke. “i’m being serious, babe. i need to show you something so can you please come?”

“you know i just like playing with you, babe. of course. we’re cooling down at practice now and then i’ll be there in 15.”

“yay! i’ll see you then.”

he let himself into your apartment, like always, and proceeded to where he knew you would be. 

he knocked on the door frame of your bedroom. “is there a beethoven that lives here?” 

you turned around, shaking your head as you strode over to greet him with a hug and kiss. 

“hey, sweetie. sorry i’m a little sweaty.”

“it’s okay. but you know that beethoven didn’t play the violin, right?”

he scoffs, feigning offense. “can you just humor me? i try really hard with the music references, you know.”

“i know, toru. i love when you do,” you reply, giving him another hug. you then pulled away to get back to what you originally called him over for. 

“okay. are you ready?”

“yep. let’s hear it, baby,” he replied, taking a seat at your desk. 

you began playing, facing away from him and towards the window. you liked to play in front of the window in your bedroom as you always liked to say that the natural lighting provided a more peaceful setting. seeing the silhouette of your figure while you played was his favorite part. 

you’ve played for him so many times that he developed a sense for when the music was about to end, much to your surprise. with this, he always claps early so that you’re smiling for him when you’re finished. 

“yes, that’s my baby right there!” he reacts as he gets up from his seat, continuing to clap until he has you in his arms again, giving you a few praising kisses. 

when he pulls away, he keeps his hands caressed over your shoulders. 

“is this why i haven’t seen you lately, hmm? you’ve been practicing real hard? aww,” he coos, hugging you tightly after you nod. 

“well, it looks like all that hard work was worth it,” he remarks. “but let’s go do something now because i have missed you so much.”

“really?” kuroo smirked. “well, that’s good to hear. i guess i just have a sixth sense, babe.” 

“can you come to the practice room, like, now?”

“practice-- baby, i thought you were at home. why are you there now?”

“i just wanted to work on this piece a little longer and then i guess time slipped away from me. so can you please come over here now, please?” 

you had repeated please twice so he knew that it was serious. he chuckled at your cute tenacity. 

“of course, babe. be there soon.” 

“oh, good. you’re here!” you remarked as he entered the smaller room. you quickly strode over to him and grabbed his hand, pulling him over to where you were working. he looked around to see sheet music everywhere along with several empty coffee cups and some food wrappers, as well. 

“gosh, babe. it’s like you live here,” he joked. “i hope you’re not sleeping in here too. it doesn’t look very comfortable.”

“i may have dozed off a few times in here,” you answered candidly as you grabbed your violin and bow and fixed the sheet music on the stand. 

“okay. ready?” 

he nodded and you proceeded to play. there was something about how you looked when you played. you were so focused and looked like you could actually feel the music as you played it. that effect spread to others because he could feel it in every inch of his body. it’s a familiar feeling that he’s so lucky that you would share something like this with him. 

when you were finished playing, he found himself stumbling over his words. 

“wow, beautiful. that was...beautiful!” he praised, walking closer to you.  

you laughed at his goofy compliment and thanked him before laying your instrument back in its case.

“yeah. you were,” you affirmed. “what else would it be though, honestly?”

“i don’t know. maybe you just wanted to spend a little time with little ole’ me,” he joked while wrapping his arms around you, giving you a good squeeze. 

“that could’ve also been part of it,” you chuckled. “thanks for coming anyway.”

“of course, my pretty peaches,” he replies, booping your nose. “you call and i am there.”

you respond with a smile and another kiss before instructing him to sit down on the couch. you fiddle with your sheet music and stand before turning towards him again. 

“this is still very much a work in progress but i think i’ve finally gotten somewhere with this one.”

he nods with a cute grin and you begin playing. he recognizes it, after several measures, as the piece that was giving you so much trouble. he smiled at how you looked much more confident in your playing and if you made a mistake, he couldn’t tell. even though he didn’t personally know too much about music, he could relate with volleyball. it’s that satisfying feeling of getting better at something that you’ve been working so hard on and that work finally shows. 

he kinda got lost in the music that he didn’t realize that you were finished and he hadn’t said anything yet.

“like i said, it’s a still a little rusty but that’s the best play through i think i’ve done so far.”

“that was rusty?” he said incredulously. “i thought it was amazing, babe!” 

you thanked him and he got up from his seat to give you some more love.

“aww, come here,” he beckoned, wrapping you up in his arms again and pressing kisses to the side of your head. 

“i am so proud of you, peaches. i love you so much.” 

you love him too and you’re so happy that you have such a sweet and supportive person by your side.

so i know it makes sense for the beginning to start where the last chapter ended off on but there was just something so powerful with how this chapter started ;-; maybe it was the extreme angst right away lol but i LOVED the attention to detail you have with scenes like these!! especially for these types of emotions, when she drops the whisk, it gets on her dress, not realizing whats going on around her, and on top of all that the changing of the clothes….. i hated that cause ew angst so sad but that was SUCH a good part!! cause i feel like just that one difference of the outfit says A LOT about how shes feeling! and especially cause it was just jeans and a shirt 😭😭 not even a skirt!! extremely relatable though i feel like when something horrible happens to me i dont want to be in anything but an extremely oversized hoodie to drown myself in

i thought a lot about how to begin this chapter but i feel like this moment was too important to skip over, and i wanted to show the direct consequence of her conversation with him. im so glad you liked the details, since those were the best ways i could convey her emotions and how she was feeling.

the outfit change i also completely relate to as a person, it can say a lot about what someone is feeling and especially her since she was waiting so long for this party and for that specific dress for him.

i am so glad you liked the angst during the party, it was hard to write but i tried to write it in snippets of what's going around her, since she's so zoned out herself and has no concrete grip on the party and the people around her at the moment.

as for the past, i definitely was worried writing it since i need to show basically the plot of an entire story within one chapter (enemies to lovers, but then back to enemies) that was hard but that's why i chose to do so many time skips and i think it works well that way because these things can't happen so fast.

yes there is a common dressing room lol, but a separate one for the girls and guys, which is why mrs. park asks hyunjin why he's in yns room.

im so glad you loved the ending, it was the first thing i wrote and ahh, it broke my heart but i loved it.

fic you were nervous to post: honestly anyone else but you because I got it into my head that ppl wouldn’t want to read a story involving teen pregnancy even if it was based off a movie and that it would make ppl mad???? I don’t know why but I was soooo nervous dfghdsf

how do you choose your titles: okay, it’s actually very simple, I listen to a song and im like ‘oh...this fits perfectly’ like I chose a song that incapsulates my fic perfectly and chose a lyric from there, sometimes I will change the lyric to a completely different song

do you outline: yes!! before I didn’t and it worked out fine for me, but lately as I want my fics to get longer and longer I have started to write a very vague outline of mostly scenes I want to happen in my fic in the order I feel they should happen.

in progress: right now only 1, but sometimes i literally am working on 345434 fics at a time which....I gotta stop doing

Maria watches friday night lights (#33)

I’m back, I’m back! So here’s what happened...I watched 5x10 on October 1, never edited my note about it, then ended up taking an inadvertent break from watching until now. Idk why, but i needed a break from like...watching tv i hadn’t seen before. Anyone else have that habit of watching things you’ve already seen when you’re going through an anxious period? Starting a new job in the same month as the 2020 presidential election fit the bill, and i wanted to really immerse myself in the final three episodes of this amazing show properly so i decided to wait until i was feeling it! Anyway to the like three people who enjoy my recaps, i hope you enjoy these last four recaps.

another random rant about mmos. (and a extra thing)

OK so a little thing about my history with MMO’S  First MMO was WoW.  I played Wrath first because im a young baby so NO i didnt played since Vanilla ok?

After 4 Years i began to play SWTOR. I had already been playing KOTOR 1 and 2 and when they annouced SWTOR i jumped into BETA like a lesbian when her Butch GF comes back home horny. ANYWAYS. I played each and every class but when BETA was over i took a year to let the game grow and fix bugs. Then i went to Subscribe for 3 months in which i went HARD on playing.

Then i begaN to branch up. BSO, Archage and ESO. I didnt liked ESO too much at the start because it wasnt as familiar of a play style as SWTOR and WoW. Archage i stayed for a few months until i realized that the htings i wanted to do were locked up behind a year long grinding efford. I still play but like a turist mostly. BSO i played a day before my Notebook began to threath me with going nuclear. 

Nowdays im playing DCUO. PotatoPC friendly and super fun. A bit simple but it has a nice progression and a lot to do. It does need a way to make things a bit more clear

At this point i have forgotten about what i was going to rant about TBH. But.BUTT. One thing that made me stay for at least one week more in SWTOR and WoW and BSO each time i went back to play was MOTHERFOOKING PETS.

I MEAN. They are throwing you against the most evil things ever. You are recluting people to fuck up that other group of bitches your boss doesnt like and being honest you kinda hate one half and thrist for the other. But between fucking them up, Torturing people, destroying fortress and sharing the message that the other faction are a group of bastards. What does the developers throw you? 

PETS. HEY YOU. USELESS AND BORED LESBIAN. HERE’S A MOTHERFUCKING BUNNY. NOW YOU CAN MAKE IT FIGHT TO THE DEATH FOR LOOT!

W.T.F BUNNIES ARE CUTE? NOT MIGHTING MACHINES? AND THEN WHAT DOES MY BRAIN SAYS? HEY. THAT SHIT IS CUTE. I WANT MORE. A Week later i go from 1 cute bunny to having 46 pets, each and EVERY SINGLE one with names, a backstory and even a personality wrote in my diary.

SO YEAH. MMO’S NEED MORE PET THINGS. BUT NO DEATH BATTLE. BE MORE LIKE POKEMON DUDE. THEY HAVE DEATH BATTLES AT 6 AND THEN BEAUTY PEAGENTS AT 9. IM OUT
