HIS PAST LORE!!!!!!; (2300 words)

He got a lot of trauma to unpack but atleast his mind forgot most of it, literally "survivor" of the cataclysm, mf got cursed w immortality like Dainsleif. Used to be a knight, and was stuck in the underground of Sumeru for a long time with his comrades, too scared to leave the gigantic ruin guard.

Long time after the cataclysm occured, he traveled across the Teyvat, losing himself in homesickness. Then, he met princess/prince of the abyss, whom he saw in the past when Khaenri'ah was still there.

Seeing a familiar face in the sea of unfamiliarity, he decided to join the Abyss Order. His past actions were foolish enough, as he spent over hundreds of years following the abyss order's princess/prince orders. Later on, he started to disagree with the views of the organisation; he didn't felt hatred towards people of the seven nations, and felt guilty when he knew he was working with enemies of the humanity. His obsession over gaining validation of Aether/Lumine faded over time as he started to understand that The Abyss Order is not what he wants to pursuit.

Under the starry night he realised that, as he was certain that he needed to get out of this organisation — all of a sudden, electro vision appeared Infront of him. It was a sign for him to abandon his regrets, and move on to the next chapter of his life.

Partying ways with the prince/princess was bittersweet. She/he didn't seemed angry or disappointed, as if foreseen that, and yet there was a cold air around them as she knew about the vision — a sign of being noticed by the god.

The partying ways made him feel guilty, and even disgusted; Yes, he left the organisation. He never wished any harm for humanity, and yet receiving a vision from a god made him feel somewhat angry at the way he was torn with his own feelings.

(Omgf forgot to mention that he was practising magic n sorcery for a long time, anyway—)

As all of this happened Mondstadt, he just,, was like "🧍ok now what- ". Took him a week to get his shit together, and build an actual cottage in the whispering woods, so it could be a place he could come back to when he traveled.

I watched Mysterious Skin for the first time, and season 2 Will is so clearly inspired by Brian. Now I am even more mad at ST writers for his s3-s4 treatment. They never explored his trauma further, in most viewers’ eyes he’s just a sad boy who « is not ready to grow up » and therefore is left behind / is hopelessly in love with his best friend / acts as a relationship counselor for the said friend / is a Vecna radar. How and when is he going to cope with the repercussions of his abduction/ abuse to be able to accept himself and move on? There’s so much to « unpack », and people keep quoting Mike’s unpacking line from s4 lol. Will Duffers drop the assault subtext added in s1-s2 to never address it and pretend Henry / MF took Will for his « powers »? Or was it all magically « fixed » by the power of love (shed scene) and literal exorcism at the end of s2? I hope not, but then there’s so little time to cover it all AND develop Byler? Lol Will is so not ready for the relationship with Mike (who is still dating Will’s sister which adds even more guilt and unnecessary drama to the whole thing).

Eric from MS in a letter to Neil told he thinks Brian is asexual. Then there was a scene with this woman trying to touch Brian, he panicked as it triggered memories of the assault. Per Duffers, ST is a story of a « supernatural kidnapping », so we most likely won’t see anything similar in text. But it kills me when people imagine Byler’s first kiss as this aggressive collision initiated by Mike during one of their inevitable fights. Like ok it’s dramatic and all, but are you guys sure Will is going to be comfortable with that? I don’t think so, even if it’s « you make me feel like I’m not a mistake at all » Mike.

Writers have a lot of work to do to make sure this poor selfless boy faces his trauma, learns to love himself the way he is, accepts his sexuality, treats his desires as a normal thing and moves on. Mike’s ST4 version is so not ready to help with that, the boy needs to be a better friend first, and only then a romantic partner (and who knows how much time he’ll need to start dealing with his insecurities / internal struggles first, face his queerness, sort things with El and admit his feelings for Will?)

So how do Duffers address all of that in ST5 with so many characters and plot lines? I have no idea.

Short answer: they won't.

There are too many ensemble members for the writers to delve into Will's trauma in-depth. We're going to see a revival and expansion of dropped plot threads, just like with El in Stranger Things 4. Who knows if that includes the sexual assault imagery and subtext. It's a shame that the writers are unwilling to tackle that textually, but that aligns with several other creative choices (ex. psionic powers being transferred via mutated blood).

Like I've said many times before, it's important for Will and Mike to grow individually before getting together. They both have personal and emotional conflicts that need to be addressed. Conflicts which impede the resolution of the love triangle plot line.

And get ready for a two-pronged answer cuz there's a bit to unpack here:

1. Wilbur is definitely into some shit, like this mf has 'submissive' underlined three times on his character sheet and I have no doubt he would enjoy being tied up, and Quackity would definitely also be down

2. Wilbur can barely say the word "sex" without getting embarrassed, and if you can't comfortably talk about sex then you CANNOT safely do any of the kinky shit he'd totally be into, that's a one-way ticket to trauma city and Quackity knows that, so even though he knows Wilbur would be into it there's no way he's even gonna suggest handcuffs until Wilbur is more comfortable talking about this stuff

tl;dr is eventually probably yes, but Wilbur needs some more character development first (and maybe therapy will help with that, who knows?)

“you can hear it in the silence.” wouldn’t imagine there’s a lot of silence between y’all anyhow ((this mf doesn’t know when to shut up)) but!!! there’s times when he’s just gazing at you with this soft look on his face. during these moments, words aren’t needed. 

“you can see it with the lights out.” his love for you burns brighter and hotter than his flames ever could. the way he holds you close when you’re trying to sleep, and pressing kisses all over your face has you wondering how you ever doubted his feelings. 

“and for once, you let go, of your fears and your ghosts.” I think this one would be more his pov than yours? Mans has been through a lot of trauma, and it would take a significant amount of time and consistent praise/encouragement from you to convince him that he was actually worth anything. Be patient with him, he’s got a lot to unpack. 

“he pauses, then says, ‘you’re my best friend.’“ he’s stroking your cheek as he says this, his breath fanning across your face as he presses his forehead against your own. it knocks the wind out of you to witness the pure unadulterated adoration he has for you. 

“he keeps a picture of you in his office downtown.” Mans will never get tired of seeing your face, and keeps a little picture of you on him at all times. When he’s missing you, he presses a kiss to it, whispering promises of being back soon. 

“and you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars....and why i’ve spent my whole life trying to put it into words.” Sunshine boy would quite literally do anything for you, if his selfless actions are anything to go by. as terrifying and anxiety inducing as this is for you, he’s always okay in the end. Always.

“and I became hypnotized by freckles and bright eyes.” pretty self explanatory!! has freckles for days and you’d give anything to lay around and trace them. he laughs when you ask about it, but because he enjoys your touch as much as he does, he encourages it. his eyes are always full of mischief, and you don’t think you’ll ever get tired of seeing that gleam in them whenever he wants to get up to some tomfoolery. 

“you could be the one that I love, I could be the one you dream of.” of course, you love him deeply ((and him, you)), and go out of your way to show him just how much. constant words of affirmation backed up by actions would be this man’s one way ticket to being head over heels with you. if the way his breath hitches, and how his grip tightens around you was any indication, you telling him that you love him is.....significant to say the least. without hesitation, he whispers it back. would imagine that this man dreams of you often ((and enjoys every second)). 

“I could be the reason you can’t sleep at night.” ((maybe this is pre-relationship)) even with his ability to conk out at any given moment, he still finds himself laying awake at night thinking about you. how your laugh sounded, or how cute you looked in what you wore that day. he wonders if you feel the same way he does. if your skin feels ablaze like his does when your hands brush. if your stomach is filled butterflies when you see him, or if your heart jumps in your throat like his does when he sees you. 

Willow 

oh my GOD.

"rough on the surface, but you cut through me like a knife." another one that's probably more his pov than yours. but yes, he's very rough around the edges. Your kindness and patience wear him down eventually, and it's like he's been turned into putty. his heart is so soft for you.

"life was a willow, and it bent right to your wind." let's be real, this man is the stubbornest bitch you've ever seen. there is absolutely nothing life can throw his way that will keep him from pursuing his goals. even if his plans fall through ((which they often do)), it never keeps him down for long. he can't let it, not with how many adventures he wants to have with you.

"anywhere else is hollow." can imagine that he doesn't truly feel at home when he's not with his crew + you, so I can imagine that this is true. he could be anywhere in the world, and as long as you were there with him, he'd be satisfied.

"show me the places where the others gave you scars." pain. all i know is pain. but yes, it'd probably take quite a bit of time before he opens up to you about his past. when he does though, he spills his entire heart out to you. hold him close to you, whisper soft affirmations and praises to him, and he's yours. tell him that love isn't something to be earned, but to be given and received freely. cherish him.

Bucky & the Shield

Let’s explore Bucky and understand his obsession with the shield.

Note: I wrote this before ep 5... so I’m not going to change some of the wording even though it’s now canon.

Okay. THERE IS A LOT TO UNPACK so lets start with a quick summary:

As we all know... Bucky has been fighting for a long time as a young soldier in the 40s and as the Winter Soldier for +70 years. Thanks to Steve it finally comes to an end in the Winter Soldier...

Unfortunately, Bucky’s freedom is short-lived and just two years later it takes a sharp turn when he’s framed by Zemo. Now he has to fight again.

*inhales deeply* He gets his arm shot off by Tony... and T’Challa (rip chadwick. we miss you.) takes him in and helps him in Wakanda. Bro chills out in a freezer for a couple months and comes out feeling… “good.” He lives in Wakanda for 2 years.

A month before Thanos showed up with his annoying purple ass, Bucky finally got his mind back (ty shuri and ayo) which we see in ep 4.

Then after the battle with Thanos which to him is just one day, his mf best friend leaves him with a small heads up. Bucky puts on his brave face, that pained smile he always does throughout the mcu, and lets his friend go.

This is where things get thrown off for Bucky...

Steve was the man who saved his life, maybe even more that Wakanda if you think about it.

The guy who believed in all the goodness buried inside Bucky, despite him being a Hydra assassin that murdered Tony’s parents and a sitting US president, is now gone. Steve was all Bucky had left in the world (idk the current status of Rebecca, Bucky’s sister, but we will ignore this for now).

Absolutely NO ONE trusted or believed in Bucky like Steve did. In CW, Bucky says just once:

“I wasn’t in Vienna I don’t do that anymore.”

...and Steve is straight up like: ‘okay bestie! let’s get you outta here!’

Even though there is literally ‘photograph evidence’ of Bucky in Vienna that may prove otherwise. Steve took his word for it without a second thought. Like Steve believed in Bucky so damn much.

And Bucky is consistently like ‘plz stop. im the worst. don’t believe in me’:

Steve: “You pulled me from the river. Why?”

Bucky: “I don’t know.”

Bucky damn well knows why but how can he live up to the idealistic view that Steve holds for him? He’s been the WS longer than he has been Bucky. So he doesn’t really know who he is or this guy Steve thinks he is. He pushes Steve away because he doesn’t want to disappoint him.

Regardless, Bucky strives for it... to be the man Steve believes him to be. Steve is his moral compass. He is/was his guide in re-discovering who he is and once was. Steve was really great at reminding Bucky that he is not the WS and that he was controlled:

Bucky: “I don’t know if I’m worth all this, Steve.”

Steve: “What you did all those years... it wasn’t you. You didn’t have a choice.”

Bucky: “I know... but I did it.”

(This is why I don’t like the therapist because why does he have to make amends when it wasn’t his fault.)

Now that Steve is gone... what does he do now?

He doesn’t know who he is anymore. He’s trying to fit the puzzle piece that is his past trauma into who he is.

Another option is accepting it and become someone new. But that someone new might be different from the person Steve hoped he would be. Regardless of the path, it’s easier said than done. Without Steve, his anchor, he struggles, conflicted between idealism and evolution.

Obviously we go the least painful route, which of course isn’t acceptance. So, he starts to become Steve. Maybe if he does he can become... someone that isn’t... himself. (*ugly cries* Get him a new mf therapist pls). He channels Steve and gets Steve’s haircut from WS, uses his notebook, and listens to his music...

But there is something Zemo said in ep 4 that is important to note:

Zemo: “There has never been another Steve Rogers, has there?.”

I think this is so vital to TFATWS. Not only is it about race and trauma, its also about identity. When you’re thrown into a new chaotic situation, you are forced to make decisions that will change who you are.

Like Sam giving up the shield... He doesn’t want to be Steve so he gives it up while Bucky who was stripped of his identity as the WS wants the shield back so that he can protect Steve’s idealism and the idealistic view Steve had of him. Bucky takes it upon himself to protect the shield because if there is any way for him to show his gratitude for Steve saving his life, its to protect his legacy.

Bucky is guilt-ridden, sad, and trying to move on. However moving forward proves difficult being a man out of time and you know… killing people as an assassin. The one person that believed in him when no one else did is gone. Now he is pushing away Sam... until the shield was given to Walker. He has no ties to anyone or anything which is why I believe he is so reckless.

Now what concerns me is that Bucky is probably going to do whatever it takes to rip it from Walker. He wants to beat Walker’s ass and take the shield.

Bucky is desperate, trying to grasp onto some semblance of himself. He lost Steve, his final attachment to his former self. So, seeing Walker with Sam’s shield and the rise of super soldiers has him acting way out of line. Sam points this out in ep 3 when Bucky wants to break Zemo out of prison.

But that’s how desperate he is. That’s how much the ‘Shield’ means to him. Steve saved his life just as much as Wakanda did, if not more. He wants to protect and preserve Steve’s legacy now. That’s his sole purpose. However, now he faces the consequences of his actions.

But Bucky still will do anything to be someone both Sam and Steve would be proud of. Like even though he shouldn’t have interfered with the Dora as Ayo warned in ep 4, he does because Sam said they should do something:

*John getting ass handed to him*

Sam: “We should do something.”

Bucky: “Looking strong, John.”

Sam in a disappointed tone: “Bucky…”

So Bucky intervenes.

Now that we have episode 5. It just proves my point further — the striving to meet Steve’s idealistic expectations.

Bucky: “So when you retired it. It made me feel like I had nothing left. Made me question everything. You, Steve, me. You know I got his uh… I’ve got his book. And uh… I just figured if it worked for him then it’s work for me.”

Sam: “I understand man. But Steve is gone. And this might be a surprise, but it doesn’t matter what Steve thought. You gotta stop looking to other people to tell you who you are.”

That is what Bucky needs to hear. He needs to accept who he is and stop trying to become what everyone else wants/expects him to be. This allows him to finally break free and finally become a hero in episode 6.

ive heard alot of people say that they needed breaks to get through this chapter and honestly- i feel like there where several little bullet scenes of angst, like the begining scenes where she's dissociating, the car scene where everything is brutally clear, the cuddle scenes where she finally gets the comfort and the final nuggets with namjoon and her truth,

i hope the little bits in the inbetween helped people take a little bit of a deep breath, because getting through it is really hard- even to edit and write. god i'd be going crazy if i didn't already know what happens 💀

i almost edited out that tae line- but then i realized that like- tae and jimin and hobi are all completely unaware what transpired, like- their emotions aren't going to match the m/c's whatsoever because they wheren't there, i hope it was kinda a suprising soft spot- cuz the m/c is tae's soft spot. i can't wait until you guys read the next chapter cuz 🥺tae and the m/c are just super cute in it!!! and so flirty!!!

BIOGRAPHY!

Mystery shrouds the exact circumstances of Kaia’s birth, but there was no denying that her father was Ilyass Zerhouni. His tryst with Demeter lasted through the winter: a season of mourning for the goddess of harvest. Their romance extinguished in March, timed with the thaw into spring, and Demeter left Ilyass without a trace of her presence in his life. Ilyass did some mourning of his own before, as he always had, continuing his life.

However, Ilyass saw Demeter one final time when she revealed she gave birth to his child. The child was born in November, and she urged him to protect her from supernatural forces, even gods themselves. Demeter knew the pain that came with losing a child.

Ilyass named the baby girl Kaia: Norwegian variant of Kaja, the diminutive form of Greek Katherine. Tracing this history, the name Kaia is intertwined with two meanings: ‘pure’ and ‘tortured.’

Born in sweltering Los Angeles, Kaia wasn’t shielded from her godly heritage. Ilyass called her his ‘miracle baby’ but he didn’t anticipate the degree. There were no parenting books on what to do when his child fell off her bike but flowers sticking out of her gashed knees. This led the man to be overly protective of her, to ensure that she did not draw attention to herself by harming herself or provoking others to harm her. He attempted to round all the sharp corners of Kaia’s life for her own protection, but for the most part, Kaia grew up happy.

Her affinity for plants stemmed from her ability to communicate with them. Their voices weren’t something she could ignore. Trees sang eerie songs as they swayed in the breeze, branches scratching against heaven, and a chorus of grass blades gossiped whenever they were stepped on ( blows kiss to the sky: for rowan ). It made it difficult for her to sleep sometimes, their voices were so constant, but Kaia learned how to tune out the plants and filter their thoughts from her own.

NEAR DROWNING TW: At age seven, Kaia contacted meningitis after being left unattended in the pool by a babysitter. Thankfully, she recovered quickly, but she suffered from moderate hearing loss. This incident only deepened Ilyass’s protectiveness. His later wife, Yaren Demir, was raising a demigod child of her own and shared the desire to shield their daughters. As a blended family, Yaren and Kaia’s new step-sister Sila acclimated to Kaia by learning American Sign Language. Though hearing aids lessen the severity of hearing loss, Kaia prefers ASL to verbal communication. ( note: she has difficulty holding a conversation one-on-one without them, and being in a crowd with them causes her a lot of anxiety. )

Adolescence was, for lack of a better word, an adjustment. Kaia prided herself on being mysterious, well-behaved, and reserved, but she began to push against the concrete boundaries set by her parents. Specifically, her competitive nature drew her to sports, which her parents staunchly disapproved of. The more Kaia wanted to expand, the more that her parents increased their restrictions. She took matters into her own hands when she was seventeen. Enticed by promises made by her then-boyfriend, Kaia ran away with him.

What could go wrong? Kaia’s not naïve; she knew that being bested by your emotions was never the correct move, but he was her first love and that love was the poison she’d inject into herself, over and over. There were red flags that the relationship wasn’t the healthiest, but, like any romantic, she ignored them all. Until it almost killed her 🤪

DEATH TW/CAR ACCIDENT TW: Almost is the key word. If she were mortal, she would have died. The boyfriend was drinking and driving, and he swerved off the road while Kaia tried to coax him into letting her drive. She doesn’t remember much of what followed. Blinding white, the sound of her voice shrill as she screamed for him to help her. The slam of the car door as he crawled out from the wreckage, a black figure bleeding into the night. The tree whispering, life, life, life, as flowers broke out of the gashes, blooming along the split skin. After fading in and out of consciousness, Kaia healed enough to gain strength to crawl out of the vehicle’s skeleton and stumbled through the surrounding woods.

Too ashamed to return home, Kaia found solace in an abandoned greenhouse. As a token from her mother, goddess of harvest after all, Kaia was fed throughout her time “missing,” surrounded by plentiful edible plants that yearned for her to eat them. She grew used to her own solitude, the simplicity of her life in the woods, but her own call out to reconnect with her sister caused her to punch her number into her phone. Soon enough, Sila found Kaia and convinced her to accompany her to a strange place she’s only heard about in passing: NEMEAN LION.

Kaia’s been on campus for two years, and the constant chatter and people and all else that comes with their godly heritage are thoroughly tolerated; she is still the prideful girl she once was, but her trauma caused her to have heightened suspicions of those around her, and she’s now more difficult to get close to. Beneath her new armor, there’s still a soft core, most evident when she’s volunteering at the infirmary or trailing behind her sister or smiling at a plant ( weird vibes but ok ). 

WANTED CONNECTIONS!

FRIENDS/A BEST FRIEND: PLEASE SOMEONE GET THIS BITCH SOME MILK!! Or rather the ability to build an attachment to someone that’s not her sister.

ENEMIES: Kaia may not express it all the time, but she does hold grudges and she’s very spiteful. I think this would be interesting because this is a bit of a shadow-self that she never got to explore in her youth, but she’s more willing to lean into it now because, in her mind, everyone sucks and should not be trusted. We can develop in the DMs!

PEOPLE WHO HELPED HER WHILE SHE LIVED IN THE GREENHOUSE: in my mind? while she was "missing” there was a little gaggle of people who brought her essentials in exchange for her helping them out somehow. Maybe she was their healer, or maybe she posed as a distraction for them to do some shady shit. either way, this relationship was mutually beneficial!

OPPOSITES ATTRACT: throw her your sunshine-y muses but she can be a little finicky so this may be a bit hit or miss SKJSKFJ. However I think that it’d be cool to have a muse who doesn’t flinch from her intensity sometimes, or bounces off of it. idk fam i just think it’d be Neat.

INJURED/HEALER: Someone who she always treats at the infirmary? I imagine that she’s gotten a hold of her powers enough that she’s able to heal others on command. She will always cluck her tongue and shake her head and, if they’re close enough, try to talk to this person. This takes a lot of ironing out because it really depends on where their relationship stands but we can make this work

DEMETER SIBLINGS: Kaia feels very much indebted to her mother for keeping her alive while she was in the greenhouse, so! She has a soft spot for all the Demeter siblings because she views them as being all a part of her, in some way, so throw her more family!

COMBAT BUDDIES: ( kaia 2 me: buddies is a strong wor- ) no but her having people to train with. Kaia isn’t about killing people ( unless you’re her ex boyfriend ahahaha that’s to unpack later ) but ! she is about learning to protect herself and wanting to do so with the utmost competency. Therefore she throws herself into combat training, and it’s a way for her to work out a lot of the pent up aggression that she has from not processing a lot of the things that have happened to her.

HOOKUPS: absolutely no strings. With the exception of Taylor, Kaia isn’t the relationship type I’m afraid and isn’t emotionally available, but she still has needs!

OTHER TREE HUGGERS: pretty explanatory, stole this from rowan. A friend of trees is a friend to Kaia.
