Happy Shinichi Day! In a few timezones still.
While I don't have anything new and complete for the occasion, I have been working on this Jimjam AMV and thought I'd share a WIP! (Even if it isn't exactly the happiest edit for the birthday boy...)
Song is the nicopop. poolside Remix of "Messed Up" by Lizzy Land, which you can listen to here!

What I Want To Do: make an analysis on how HAL 9000 achieved status as a legendary film villain while he's actually the Space Odyssey series's most tragic victim, write multiple fanfictions where he's loved and cherished and taken care of the way he deserves to be, consider the many ways this deeply complex and fascinating character can be interpreted based on the books and the film and admire how each and every interpretation is wonderful
What My Brain Gives Me Every Time I Try To Do Any Of These Things: h-haaaaaaaaal,,, hhhhhhhal my beloved,,,,,, precious sweetheart,,,,,,,,, i rotate him slowly in my brain and hold him gentle like halburger,,,,,,,,,,,,

idk have the first few lines of a Titanfall 2 post-canon fic that have been rotting through my brain for six months ✌️
update: all further Titanfall stuff is going to be on my new Titanfall sideblog! best-titan-7274
The other Titan pilots have mostly left him alone. They understand what it's like to grieve a partner. They all know what BT is to him. Was. They all know what BT was to him. The world feels so much larger, without BT there, and Jack feels so much smaller.

Honor & Logic, Surak & Kahless: Klingon & Vulcan Culture Parallels
I honestly find Vulcan and Klingon culture remarkably, hilariously similar and I’m surprised Trek has never once fully touched on it!
If Surak had been a fighter, and Kahless a scientist, their cultures would have turned out opposite! Kahless united his people under the principles of a noble warrior, Surak united his people under the principles of a noble pacifist. Think about it!
Same cultural rigidity, different word! Honor is used by Klingons the same way Logic is used by Vulcans. They use those buzz words to justify their actions, regardless of how logical or honorable their actions really are.
They both have strong gentry systems (it’s just Vulcans pretend that they don’t but you can just look at how the S’chn T’gai family is treated to disprove that).
They ferociously reject those among them who deviate from their rigid cultures. The men on which they base their cultures were a lot wiser and more nuanced than the cultures their ideals have bore.
Kahless’s wisdom and good name has been used to justify power hungry Klingons unending desire for bloodshed and domineering over others. Even though stories of Kahless are often about defending one’s own and standing your ground against oppressors. Something some Klingons deeply understand (see, Worf) and others very much do NOT (see, Chancellor Gowron).
Surak’s wisdom has been twisted into disdain and social flagellation for all displays of emotion. So much so that some Vulcans are consumed with shame for feeling, something all living things experience. Even though the goal of things like Kolinahr is to process the emotions until they are so abstracted and distant they no longer affect you, not bottling things up for eternity *cough cough* Sarek *cough*.
They both strongly reject those who question the current order of things and each harbor extremist groups. Whether you’re Dishonored or V’Tosh Ka’Tur, the reason behind the alienation is the same. Logic extremists and fanatics like Gowron exist in all corners. Their culture rigidity is a pressure cooker for both results.
I think the key reason people haven’t noticed is that Vulcans are much better at hiding their flaws than Klingons are. To be more precise, while neither the majority Klingons or Vulcans see the problem, Vulcans pretend they don’t have those problems.
While Klingons (especially before they made peace with the Federation) embrace the things that damage their culture loudly and proudly, they boast of their nationalism and the superiority of the Great Houses over Klingon peasantry. The average Klingon has no political bearing in the squabbling of the Great Houses unless they’ve shed blood to get there, which reinforces the issue.
Whereas Vulcans are like “it would be illogical to employ nepotism and ethnic purity into our education system” while telling Sarek, a relation of a very powerful member of their spiritual community (T’Pau), that they can only allow one of his freakish deviant children into the VSA. But they’re not xenophobic right? That’s illogical.
Could you imagine the amazing content that could arise from an on-screen Vulcan & Klingon relationship in pretty much any capacity, friends, rivals, lovers, any kind! Vulcans and Klingons are, by FAR, the most fleshed out alien cultures in all of Star Trek, and their cultures rhyme beautifully!
I think it’s high time that a Star Trek show that let those two cultures interact more directly. It would be refreshing for two alien cultures to engage with, even embrace each other’s company without Human/Starfleet interference.
It would be a wonderfully refreshing break from that egotistically human-centric view Star Trek often falls prey to. Seriously, it would be such good content and I hope we see it more and more often as the franchise evolves!

The Taste of Blood
The metallic taste of blood lingered in her mouth, even as she spat it out. Her lungs were on fire, and her legs were numb. Houses, painted orange by the streetlamps, blurred past her. Breathy and gasping pants tore from her lips, and tears spilt from her eyes. She couldn't hear anything but her own deafening heartbeat and the sound of booted feet hitting the cobblestone pavement – hers. But also someone else's. How the Hell did this happen?
The cold wind bit at Vic's face - its freezing, sharp teeth pierced her skin, and its tight, frigid grip enveloped her entire body. She warmed herself up, drawing the little heat in the air towards her as Magic surged in her veins – and immediately, she felt a hungry gaze impale her. She sped up into a brisk walk, and before long, she found herself abandoning the groceries she had been carrying and started running down the dark, cobbled streets – the familiarity of them, once comfortable, now only made her heart hammer against her chest harder. Vic nervously chewed her lip – not realising she drew blood – knowing she had a long way to go.
She was suddenly wrenched back into the moment by the sudden adrenaline of feeling a hot breath on her neck. She spun around immediately, using the momentum of her whole body to lean into a swing. The hit connected, though not as she expected. The figure had caught her by the wrist – perhaps unaware of the Magic flowing into her arm, causing steam to erupt from the figure's grasp. With a hiss, the smell of burnt flesh filled the air.
Unphased, the figure launched forward, trying to grab her with its non-burnt hand. She ducked, twisting her arm out of the figure’s grip before channelling Magic again. Vic outstretched her arm, even as she quickly backed up. Streetlamps flickered, as did the lights in the few houses with them still on. Electricity arced down her arm, forming intricate webs between her fingers. Then she clenched her fist – causing lines of lightning to shoot into the figure from everywhere around it, be it streetlamps, powerlines, or otherwise. The figure – a pincushion full of lightning bolts – spasmed and sank to its knees.
Vic turned around and started sprinting as fast as she could. She didn’t look back – not even when she once again heard footsteps behind her. As the buildings passing by stretched higher towards the sky and the streets narrowed, she whipped into an alley – delighting in the whoosh of wind as her pursuer barrelled past the sharp turn. Knowing she didn’t buy herself much time, she stopped to catch her breath for but a second before breaking into a dead sprint down the dark, all-too-narrow-alley – straight towards the dead end. She channelled Magic as she ran, gathering air below her feet before leaping. With a downward flourish of her arms and a flick of her wrists, she expelled the channelled Magic – causing a surge of air to propel and carry her further upward. Her outstretched arms – reaching for the edge of the roof – found no purchase as she had felt a tight grasp settle over her ankle, dragging her down forcefully. Vic slammed against the damp stone with her chest, all the air in her lungs dissipating. Her heart sank. And teeth sank into her.
The metallic taste of blood lingered in his mouth, even as he greedily gulped it down. Albion's fingers sank into the flesh of the Magus – relishing as it buzzed with remnant Magic. She wasn’t all that powerful and didn’t seem to have a Signature – she tasted bland. Alas, it will have to do. As the woman’s Magic coursed through him, Albion felt the burnt flesh of his hand start to heal, and he smiled to himself. His toothy grin was not at all ruined by the blood dripping down his teeth.

PUZZ HEY HELLO, I JUST REALIZED I NEVER ASKED THIS BEFORE BUT
Since Villain Coded is a fantasy superhero-supervillain-esque type of world, then that means everyone has some sort of unique superpower ability, no? If so, what are the Trio's abilities? Can they have more than one? Are their abilities with specific limits like energy, logic, rules of life, etc. Are there abilities that are more common or rarer than others? Am I now asking too many spoiler-worthy questions as well LMAO
Anyway I'm guessing that some of the questions I've been giving here have probably already been generally answered at some point... So kindly just ignore this ask if it's been answered already and you don't feel like answering them again JDHAJSHAKA I'll just sift through your Villain Coded tags when I get more leisure time 🫡
Also good god you've no idea how much I LOVE. Superpower abilities kind of concepts in stories, I will eat your comic up so hard when it releases in the future (both for the trio and the story you're planning) >:3c
not everyone does, no! for example, out of the trio, only Buck has powers (specifically superhuman durability & healing, hence his moniker of The Invincible Bulkhead - even though he's not actually invincible...). Minnie and Davey both have no powers, though Minnie's the child of two generations of superpowered folks (both her parents have powers, as did both of her dad & Buck's parents) and she's hanging on to the possibility she's just a late bloomer - they use a combination of hand-to-hand combat training and mechanical augments to help them fight on the level of their superhero opponents.
more generally, though, superpowers are very much a "everything and the kitchen sink" situation - people can absolutely have more than one, they come from a variety of sources, and they all have their potential limits/drawbacks/etc. (for example, Minnie's dad/Buck's brother has super-strength, but he doesn't have healing abilities like Buck does, so while he's strong enough to break through a brick wall with his bare hands, he's probably gonna shatter his bones doing so.)

Prompts for Fatt Pinup Week
hey hi hello! starting to plan for a Fatt Pinup "Week" towards the end of next month (july) and i've got two things for y'all:
do you have prompts you'd like to see? prompts you'd NEVER want to see? submit them!
IDK how everyone else is doing but i'm busy as heck - would it be more accessible to do a prompt every other day (so 7 prompts over 14 days) or is the fun of it that it's a week of prompts (1 prompt a day, 7 days)?
(the above poll isn't a final decision unless it's a landslide with a lot of votes, otherwise just consider it a vibe check <3)

I haven't been thinking much about my boy Johnny lately because I don't have Netflix anymore which means I can't watch him😭 So it's been kind of hard to swoon over him when I can't see him. I miss him so much though❤

sometimes you just come up with an incredibly batshit AU and you have to sit it down and gently pat its head and go "I love you, I will write you someday, but I have to finish the one I'm already working on first."
sometimes it doesn't listen. this one seems to be so far, at least. the plot bunny has been sated by infodumping on friends for now, and I'll take what I can get.
