Sonic Knows Eggman Will Never Change

So in a previous post I had made I brought up the fact that Sonic has been mischaracterized in the IDW Comics. That Sonic doesn't have a moral code, and he puts himself in the paradox of tolerance by being against killing or imprisoning say Eggman. That Sonic doesn't have a bizarre moral code on freedom where he lets bad guys run around free, because if he killed them he would be taking away their freedom. But there is one major mischaracterization that ties into all of this that also serves as a major monkey wrench into all this, and it's SONIC KNOWS EGGMAN WILL NEVER CHANGE. Major note, I don't hate the IDW writers or their writing. I just think they makes mistakes when writing the Sonic characters at times, and they can write Sonic well. Think how they wrote Neo Metal Perfectly.

Now in the IDW comics the writers wrote it where Sonic thinks that Eggman could change and tries to convince him to turn over a leaf. In the case of when Eggman had amnesia Sonic tried to argue Eggman could go good and that they shouldn't deal with him. Or when he tried to monologue to Eggman and make him into a good guy, with the writers make it seem like Eggman is considering it and Sonic looking hopefully. But this goes against what Sonic Team has already kind of previously established and even established after said comics were released.

The beforehand is simply the fact Sonic hasn't ever done this monologuing before, and that Sonic is more like a battle shonen protagonist like Goku. As while he is a hero he doesn't strive to be a hero nor and enjoys adventure. It is best summarized by the following, "you and I are same in the way that we have our own styles that we won't change. Yours is filled with evil and mine is not. There is no way I can lose!" But it is best to see said previous post for more here.

Now for the most major evidence and that is Sonic Station Live vtuber bits with Sonic which is from the Japanese side of things. In it Sonic gets the following question, "If Eggman were to stop being evil, and peaceful days were to go on for long would you find that boring?" And Sonic responds by saying "Eggman staying well-behaved sounds about as possible as chili dogs raining from the sky." Sonic knows Eggman will never go good, and this is how Sonic Team has decided Sonic is to be depicted him. The Japanese side of things basically overriding whatever has been written in the IDW Comics as this is Sonic's view of Eggman. Something that is even paralleled in Sonic X btw.

Sonic also goes on to say "if bored, from peace or whatever only you can make it fun again! If it were up to me, I'd travel to find new adventures and I think I'd enjoy it!!" This line fits perfectly in with Sonic's being like a battle shonen protagonist who loves adventure. This also lines up with his dialogue towards characters like Metal Sonic. "If you wanna settle the score, you can come back as often as you want."

in sonics defence, her playing double agent to both eggman and the resistance did prolong an oppressive regime and result in a whole lot of people dying. he's okay with her being dangerous to him not to random civilians. it also shattered his friendship with knuckles for a while, bc he was there for knuckles chaotix and the bad end happened, so he directly witnessed her burn down an island with people on it in her kai form and never trusted her- he viewed sonic's insistence on trying to help her be a better person as dangerous and that proved it to him, though they do end up making up eventually. they’re extremely codependent on each other bc nova doesn’t understand organics and relies on sonic while sonic projects a lot of his trauma onto her so they don’t break up but it gets rough for a while.

When I was 24 I sat in a backstage dressing room in London, buzzing with anticipation. My backup singers and bandmates gathered around me in a scattered circle.Scissors emerged and I watched in the mirror as my locks of long curly hair fell in piles on the floor. There I was in my plaid button down shirt, grinning sheepishly as my tour mates and friends cheered on my haircut. This simple thing that everyone does. But I had a secret. For me. It was more than a change of hairstyle. When I was 24. I decided to completely reinvent myself.

How does a person reinvent herself, you ask? In any way I could think of. Musically, geographically, aesthetically, behaviorally, motivationally. And I did so joyfully. The curiosity I had felt the first murmurs of while making red had amplified into a pulsing heartbeat of restlessness in my bars. The risks I took when I toyed with pop sounds and sensibilities on red? I wanted to push it further. The sense of freedom I felt when traveling to big bustling cities? I wanted to live in one. The voices that had begun to shame me in new ways for dating like a normal young woman? I wanted to silence them.

You see, in the years preceding this, I had become the target of slut shaming, the intensity and relentlessness of which would be criticized and called out if it happened today. The jokes about my amount of boyfriends. The trivialization of my songwriting as if it were a predatory act of a boy crazy psychopath. The media co-signing of this narrative. I had to make it stop because it was starting to really hurt.

It became clear to me that for me there was no such thing as casual dating, or even having a male friend who you platonically hang out with. If I was seen with him, it was assumed I was sleeping with him. And so I swore off hanging out with guys, dating, flirting, or anything that could be weaponized against me by a culture that claimed to believe in liberating women but consistently treated me with the harsh moral codes of the Victorian era.

Being a consummate optimist, I assumed I could fix this if I simply changed my behavior. I swore off dating and decided to focus only on myself, my music, my growth. And my female friendships. If I only hung out with my female friends, people couldn't sensationalize or sexualize that, right? I would learn later on that people could and people would.

But none of that mattered then because I had a plan and I had a demeanor as trusting as a basket of golden retriever puppies. I had the keys to my own apartment in New York and I had new melodies bursting from my imagination. I had Max Martin and Shellback who were happy to help me explore this new sonic landscape I was enamored with. I had a new friend named Jack Antonoff who had made some cool tracks in his apartment. I had the idea that the album would be called 1989. And we would reference big 80's synths and write sky high choruses. I had sublime, inexplicable faith and I ran right toward it, in high heels and a crop top.

There was so much that I didn't know then, and looking back I see what a good thing that was. This time of my life was marked by right kind of naïveté, a hunger for adventure. And a sense of freedom I hadn't tasted before. It turns out that the cocktail of naïveté, hunger for adventure and freedom can lead to some nasty hangovers, metaphorically speaking. Of course everyone had something to say. But they always will. I learned lessons, paid prices, and tried to… don't say it don't say it. I'm sorry, I have to say it. Shake it off.

I’ll always be so incredibly grateful for how you loved and embraced this album. You, who followed my zig zag creative choices and cheered on my risks and experiments. You, who heard the wink and humor in "blank space" and maybe even empathized with the pain behind the satire. You, who saw the seeds of allyship and advocating for equality in "Welcome to New York". You, who knew that maybe a girl who surrounds herself with female friends in adulthood is making up for a lack of them in childhood (not starting a tyrannical hot girl cult). You, who saw that I reinvent myself for a million reasons, and that one of them is to try my very best to entertain you. You, who have had the grace to allow me the freedom to change.

I was born in 1989. Reinvented for the first time in 2014, and a part of me was reclaimed in 2023 with the re-release of this album I love so dearly.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the magic you would sprinkle on my life for so long. This moment is a reflection of the woods we've wandered through and all this love between us still glowing in the darkest dark.

I present to you, with gratitude and wild wonder, my version of 1989.

premise is Sonic starts becoming Fleetway after staying super for too long and becomes way more chaotic/prone to destroying things due to becoming way more emotionally unstable.

The only thing preventing him from becoming like he is in the original comics is that he doesn’t wanna upset Tails by crossing the line of his moral code, but each time he transforms he becomes way more destructive and unwilling to listen

Zack & Lilly The Hedgehog - The Gremlins Twins!

I was trying to hold off on them until I finished Skyler's redesign, but I couldn't.

I had mentioned some time ago that I wanted to give Sonic and Amy chaotic twins because I can totally see them causing trouble and getting into a lot of mischief, and well: Here they are!

Some facts about them in my AU:

When Amy was pregnant, she constantly felt tremors in her body and headaches. These effects were caused by the abilities they were naturally born with – the Supersonic Scream.

Zack was born seconds before Lilly.

When they were babies, they couldn’t control their abilities, which is why there were constantly broken windows around the house. They would even get scared by the sound of their own 'super-cries' when they were in the crib, which occasionally led to some hearing impairments.

Lilly is the thinker of the duo. She always comes up with foolproof plans and strategies to start a chaos zone. Zack has a more innocent mind, but still, he loves causing trouble too.

Lilly has a shorter temper, with assertiveness, leadership, and perfectionism. She likes it when everything is going as planned, and when things don’t go as expected, she knows how to play the 'helpless girl' to avoid facing the consequences. She dreams of not only dominate the world but also becoming a famous actress.

Although he causes trouble too, Zack is more soft-hearted. He tends to be more affectionate and empathetic, with a strong sense of protection and courage. He would love to have the chance to perform a heroic act like his father someday.

Zack loves stories of romance and fantasy. Every night before bed, he would ask his father to tell the story of King Arthur, where Sonic would give so many details that it made him wonder if he had been there when the story happened.

Lilly has a great taste for mystical and magical things – thanks to her mother's Tarot cards. She eventually discovers that she can cast some spells, but only when she's an adult.

Both have the ability to summon weapons. However, Lilly has always chosen to design a cute umbrella that could help her glide and be more defensive, while her brother, who dreams of protecting others and being a great knight, opts for a sword.

Lilly and Zack will rarely be seen apart; she is the shield to his attacks. They highly honor their own sibling code.

Zack doesn't have super speed like his father, but his Uncle Tails designed technologies that use his movements as energy, making him faster.

Both love playing pranks on their older sister – Skyler. This always irritates her, as she usually ends up having to fix the problems they cause.

They are 6 years younger than Skyler - If something happened to her siblings, she would feel guilty.

In Amy's view, the twins are angels. They always pretend nothing is happening, because if she finds out, they’ll be in serious trouble. Sonic knows they cause a lot of mischief, so he scolds them without involving Amy, advising them and giving them moral lessons so they don’t do it again – which always happens.

Lilly is daddy's little girl, Zack is mommy's little boy.

Zack eats a lot, which gives him a more robust body when he’s an adult.

Both are extremely dramatic. They like to think they’re acting in an anime, saying impactful lines and making exaggerated gestures.

They are very close friends with their cousin - Tails and Zooey's daughter.

Their biggest goal is to dominate the world. However, when they become adults, this plan fades from Zack's path, as he wants to follow in his father's footsteps as a hero, but Lilly still has the desire to rule it in an evil way.

Zack has spikes similar to Sonic's deceased parents, while Lilly has bangs-like spikes similar to Amy's mother.

Conclusion...

For now, that's it. Some of the characters mentioned aren't finished yet, but as soon as I finish, I’ll be posting new information!

Sonic Has Been Mischaracterized In The IDW Comics Part 2

Part 1 On top of this Sonic has shown no signs of being opposed to killing. For example, in Sonic Mania Adventures Sonic has left Eggman hanging in a trap that Eggman made that he intended to kill Sonic with. Yes Eggman didn't die status quo and all, but that doesn't negate that Sonic left Eggman in this trap what was intended to kill him.

While I don't know a whole lot about the game, in Shadow The Hedgehog Sonic would have to either kill the Black Arms Aliens by either doing it himself, letting Shadow finish them off, or letting them starve in order to protect Earth from them which he seems to have no problem with. Because the Black Arms did intend to use humanity as a food source. It is heavily implied when Black Doom says "humans are a great energy source for us… they will be well kept," everyone acts mortified. In other words Black Doom is implying the Black Arms are going to use humans as well livestock. This is further backed up by what happens right afterwards when he sends his children the Death Leeches to eat Sonic and friends after he paralyzes them. This is straight up confirmed in the Encyclo-speed-ia on page 154. "Black Doom has used the Chaos Emeralds to move the Black Comet to the planet's surface and begins cultivating all life to feed his minions."

On top of this Sonic's response to Shadow in the Japanese version of Sonic Heroes saying "then it looks like you'll have to die." Being "that's my line," which would imply he says this from time to time, probably to Eggman whenever he announces another one of his plans of world domination.

Also, Sonic has been shown to be okay with imprisoning his opponents as we see in imprison Erazor Djinn in Sonic And The Secret Rings. This shows he is not opposed to imprisoning say Eggman. But he probably doesn't do it because locking Eggman up can put others in danger when his Badniks go to set him free. As if I am correct his Badniks look for him when he is missing, and with Metal Sonic or Sage leading them they will be more coordinated. There is a joke about it the Sonic Twitter & TikTok Takeover #7 - All Answers at 27:40 where Sonic does just that, off course he got out somehow aka his Badniks. Also, Sonic does talk about locking Eggman up in the idw x comics so there is that.

Oh yeah Sonic did try to kill King Arthur, even though they were an illusion he didn't know what and did intend to kill him.

Soooo… Yeah this does conflict with his IDW depiction, but so does Sonic Prime. So here's how I see it. One can deal with some of the things said by Sonic by headcanoning them as misinterpretations through the lens of other characters like Surge, Kit, and Eggman. While he still has a view of restorative justice thanks to Amy and Mecha Sonic, it is not his soul way of going about things.

Keep in mind this is not me saying Sonic is actively trying to kill Eggman as if he's the Punisher or is gonna be killing his enemies left and right like Deadpool. That he isn't going to break down Eggman's front door to kill him or take him to prison. But rather he is not like Batman and he is not opposed to it if push comes to shove, and he is not opposed to allowing Shadow to take out Black Doom or in another case Eggman at all(say he's not Mr. Tinker). Or in the case of Mania Adventures, leaving Eggman next to a bomb that Eggman intended to kill Sonic with that for all Sonic knew could have been intended to have enough power to wipe out several miles. That Sonic doesn't believe he can't "take away someone's freedom" in the paradox of tolerance, and that he is okay with erasing Mephiles from the timeline for example.

Think of it like Mario, canonically Mario isn't opposed to killing his opponents but doesn't aim to unless push comes to shove. Part 3

I love this callback to issue #50 in issue #67. It's funny seeing Surge mock & sass Sonic like that of course, but it's also a really smart and subtle way of summarising Surge's motives.

In this issue Surge is taking advantage of Sonic's offer to reform herself. She, at this point, clearly has zero intention to actually better herself - she's just using it as an opportunity to eventually cause more harm.

He knows that, and she knows he knows that, but she also knows that as long as Sonic sticks to the moral code he was preaching so much to her, there's nothing he can do about it.

And here we see it summed up in just those two lines - Surge takes their exact words from their previous argument, flips them on their head, and spits it back in his face.

Things that would be called woke if they were made today

• Monsters Inc.: The main characters harbor an illegal alien in order to make things right and end up fighting a corporation that uses unethical methods to profit.

Can be seen as an anti-capitalist messege

"I'll kidnap a thousand children before I let this company die!"- Mr. Waternoose

• Toy Story: An alegory for a father (who is designed after a hypermasculine archetype) who learns to overcome his insecurities and get along with and befriend his son's stepdad for the betterment of their son.

Could be seen as anti-masculinity and anti-traditional family

• Loony Tunes: Features characters who often cross-dress confidently. Features two hypermasculine archetypes (a cowboy and a hunter) who are presented as incompetent and hot-headed. In "The Loony Tunes Show" Bugs and daffy live together, casually cross-dress and have a "bickering married couple" dynamic.

• Lilo and Stitch: Features no real villain. Most characters are people of color. The two alien bounty hunters have a "bickering elderly couple" dynamic that could be taken as a confirmation or romance. The main goal of the movie has a child fight for an unconventional family that includes mentioned gay couple.

• A Bug's Life: Movie is about a dreamer who's society works in order to enrich a smaller society of powerful people. He refuses to comply to the whims of the powerful people, beleiving that the workers are entitles to the fruits of their labor, so he seeks out other outcast-dreamers to help with the violent revolution. The main antagonist literally spells out why class consciousness is dangerous for the 1%.

"You let one ant stand up to us and they all might stand up. Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one, and if they ever figure that out there goes our way of life! It's not about food! It's about keeping those ants in line." Hopper

• Frozen: One of the main characters is a powerful, independant, woman who breaks the shackles of tradition in order to be her authentic self. She also plays god by creating life out of snow. The movie subverts the "true love can break the curse" trope from romantic love to familial love.

• Princess and the Frog: features predominantly people of color with the few white people in the movie being stupid, incompetent, and/or antagonistic. Main character is a struggling entrepreneur who struggles due largely to racism.

• Scooby Doo: Most villains are people who are seeking to get money, power, or property, via unethical means. Features one character that is "stoner-coded", one who is a strong independent woman, and another that is often portrayed as a lesbian/bisexual.

• Sonic the Hedgehog: a game about an animal fighting an industrialist that destroys nature and abuses animals for his own gain.

• Brave: Main character is a "strong independent woman" who doesnt need a man. (I DONT REMEMBER BRAVE VERY WELL)

• Batman: Bruce Wayne becomes Batman due to the failures of the police and justice system, choosing for fight his city, no matter the personal cost. Has a diverse built family rather than a traditional family.

• Superman: Was often nicknamed the champion of the opressed. Arch nemesis is a billionaire that is hungry for power. Is a literal illegal alien. Fights most problems with kindness.

• Wonder Woman: was literally created to get boys used to the idea of powerful women.

• Captain America: His main goal is to beat up/kill nazis. Stands for the ideas of liberty and freedom in their purest forms.

• Deadpool: Severely mentally ill man does morally ambiguous acts. Doesnt fit in cleanly with good and evil. Canonically Pansexual.

• The X-men: A minority group that needs to fight for their rights against an opressive government and society.

• Robin Hood: A man who selflessly steals from wealthy money-hoarders and divides it amongst the poor.

• Public libraries, roads, EMT's, Fire Fighters, bridges, sidewalks, parks, lamp posts, cell towers, water towers, telephone poles/lines, national parks and monuments and schools: "wHy sHoUlD My tAxEs pAy fOr sOmEoNe eLsEs sErViCeS??? CoNtRiBuTiNg tO SoCiEtY Is cOmMuNiSm!!!"

• The board game Monopoly: Was created as a critique of capitalism, which is why it's so frustrating and difficult.

I love idw comics but I gotta complain

Sonic just acts stupid this whole arc, but SPECIALLY regarding Metal

Brother Metal is quite literally lobotomized he does NOT have a choice and Sonic KNOWS THIS why dows he pretend otherwise???

METAL LITERALLY told him so to his face the previous arc, why did he forgot? Is he stupid?

Also also he CHOSE to let him go and “respect his decision”, but then goes and DOESN’T respect it when its one that he doesn’t like (again, not like it was a real choice on the first place, but IF it was, Sonic already knew that this would happen and was ok with it????)

Also, no, they DID NOT give him freedom, they literally had him there and instead of reprogramming him to stop being loyal to Eggman they just let him go. Why the hell are they acting surprised when the machine programed to follow Eggman… follows Eggman???? As programmed???? Idw is incredibly unfair to Metal, that man is a slave and the narrative blames him for it

More given the fact that Mr.tinker was in the same situation (Turning back to evil ways by something out of their choice) yet Sonic condones Mr.thinker and berates Metal for the exact same situation???? Sonic what is your moral compass on this arc I do not get you
