It had been a shitty week; Andrew barely saw Nathaniel off the court on Friday night, nor did he get to bash Riko’s head with his racquet. Then Pig Higgins showed up on Saturday, entirely unwelcome and unwanted, the bearer of news that only reinforced Andrew’s belief in how shitty the universe was. He had to deal with another round of questions from Aaron and the upperclassmen. Then there were the terse texts from Nathaniel during the week, sparse that they were, which indicated that all was not well at the Nest (as if one couldn’t tell from Riko’s unhinged interviews where he ranted about the Ravens ‘decimating’ the Foxes during their game on Friday).

Andrew had a little to vent during his training session with Val on Sunday; they were out in the backyard, sweatshirts discarded on the porch and tank tops damp with sweat from the intense practice. Val had taken Andrew down twice so far, but he’d landed a killing blow on her once and aimed to do so again before they called it quits.

Val feinted to the left, which Andrew pretended to fall for while preparing for a strike at his ribs. He ‘dropped’ his knife and caught it with his left hand while he blocked her weapon and allowed her to barrel him into the ground, intent on raising his blade to her throat.

They stilled on the ground, Val half-sprawled on top of him with his knife below her chin and hers off to the side, their eyes locked on the other. Then she laughed as she leaned back onto her haunches. “Ha! That was good.” She rocked onto her feet and held out a hand, which Andrew begrudgingly accepted. “You’re becoming an actual challenge now.”

“So happy for you,” Andrew drawled, voice thick with sarcasm.

“Yeah, you’re a real sunbeam like that.”

Early Life + Before HYDRA

Jack was born 07. 03. 1975 in Fayetteville, NC.

Technically speaking, he led a fairly uneventful childhood— If one discounts the fact that he was born into a militia-style family, who helped run a militia-style group.

He was taught to shoot as soon as he could pull the trigger and, when he was big enough to hold his own in a fight, Jack was more or less designated as an enforcer, or a sort of guard. Keep people in line, settle squabbles and fights— To keep people in line and in order. He was good at it, too.

Though Rollins generally presents with a reserved demeanor and a level head- He was brutal and efficient with the violence he carried out.

HYDRA

Rollins was first introduced to HYDRA in early ‘98- Some lower level HYDRA agents having made a little too much noise in their area. Jack was sent as the middle-man.

He made fast friends. Or, acquaintances, at the least— Realizing that HYDRA’s views more lined up with his own; not to mention, he’d taken a liking to one agent in particular. It took convincing- So much convincing- But he left. With HYDRA, to start something new.

STRIKE

Jack was officially implanted into SHIELD under Rumlow’s eye in 2000, being placed onto the same STRIKE team at the same time. He stuck close with Brock— Becoming SIC after the Battle of New York.

The Aftermath

Jack was grievously injured in the fall- Sustaining injuries down the entire right side of his body.

He pulled through, though- Somehow. Shiny new replacement parts that render him almost human— The enhancements aren’t quite on the level of HYDRA tech, and he might move a bit more stiffly- But they work.

Replaced -> (fully) maxilla, mandible, zygomatic and nasal bones. (Right side) scapula, clavicle, sternum + ribs, femur, tibia, fibula. + hand and foot. As well as his right eye.

The implants and prosthetics are lifelike- A little uncanny valley and his body’s marred and marked with obvious surgical scars.

With Rumlow dead, or suspected so, Rollins’ has fully distanced himself from HYDRA- Due to the stitched scarring over his face and body, it was more than difficult to find himself any sort of well-meaning job. He busies himself doing odd manual jobs as well as picking up the occasional racketeering job- In between hunting down known HYDRA operatives.
