GUARGHHH H H H H H H I LOVE IT WHEN CHARACTERS FIGHT IN WAYS THAT ONLY PERTAIN TO THEM. MY FAVORITE THING IS WHEN THEIR BODY IMPACTS HOW THEY FIGHT AND HOW THEY’RE ABLE TO FIGHT. WHEN CHARACTERS USE THEIR PHYSICAL TRAITS TO GAIN THE UPPER HAND IN A BATTLE IT MAKES ME GO CRAZY.

🪻🦋 GENESIS. 🔮📋
kirby oc tournament entry.
“Lucky is she, who lives unaware, who doesn’t get bothered by all that’s unfair…”
Tumblr media
PERSONALITY.
Genesis is a kind, caring figure haunted by a past only they remember- and it doesn’t matter too much in the grand scheme of things, anyway. They have taken on the role of a therapist, and their personality generally fits the stereotypical view of a therapist. Of course, they aren’t without their flaws- often trying too hard to reach a goal or blaming everything on themselves.
Tumblr media
BACKSTORY.
Genesis is from the Forgotten Land. Or, as the residents prefer to call it, the New World.
Their origins are mostly hidden. I mean, you don’t really want to tell people that- well. I’m not going to tell you their secrets. That’s just rude. They’ll tell you when they’re ready.
Hopefully.
All I can tell you is that they have a strange connection to Fecto Forgo.
Oh, well, I’ll tell you a bit more.
Let’s see… I’m sure it was written down somewhere around here.
“Since it’s capture, ID-F85 has only shown activity once- it’s brain patterns seem to suggest that it is dreaming. But that is a fanciful observation, and we are not fanciful people. A monster cannot dream.” — Retired Lab Discovera Tour, Year Unknown
The creature known as Fecto Elfilis had split into two- Fecto Forgo and Elfilin. The Ancients had long abandoned the planet, taking off to Shiver Star. Imprisoned, alone, unable to move and lost in a world without any creatures capable of thought- yet, they drifted. They dreamed. And in their dreams surfaced memories.
Tumblr media
A land of dust and fire. A trickster magician.
A world of flora. A sorrowful spindler.
And their own great form, lost to the cruel experiments of the people who lived here, so desperate to leave.
From those dreams, came Genesis. A creation of stardust and love. They wandered throughout the abandoned land, watching as the beasts gained intelligence, and talking with them. When trapped in a collapsing tunnel, they met Elfilin, who saved them. The two then became friends.
They also met Gamma Knight, who landed in the forgotten land after [REDACTED]. Genesis helped them flee to [REDACTED].
Tumblr media
When the Beast Pack was formed, Genesis stayed out of the way, recognising the work of their progenitor. But when Elfilin was captured, they followed Kirby from a distance, leaving behind Maxim Tomatoes and vanishing without a trace.
When Elfilis was defeated, Elfilin and Genesis reunited, and the former took the latter to Dreamland, where they both settled.
And they decided to settle on a rather successful career.
It had been a solid five hours since Kirby had started telling Genesis about the 'monsters' they'd fought, with Dedede and Meta Knight himself chipping in when needed; sometimes to explain their actions while the puffball had been defeating the newest threat to Popstar, sometimes to correct him or add a detail. But instead of getting frustrated or tired, Genesis had only listened politely, nodding as they talked. […] "Those monsters you fought... I'd be terrified, honestly. But you've survived all of it, and you're still here, ready to face the next battle, and that means you're exceptionally resilient. But life isn't all about battles." Genesis continued. "It's pretty late, so I'll end the session here, but think about it. Come back if you need to." — Chapter Two, Session One, These Creatures I’ve Seen
Well, that wasn’t a bit more, that was a lot more. But there are still some mysteries. Will you uncover them? Let’s find out.

~ Save Me ~
Save Me
Matthew Justice x Lana (Gem’s OC!Female Reader)
Word Count: 863
Warnings: Injury kinda sorta
Type: Fluff
Summary: During her match against Vert Vixen, Lana is attacked by RED. To protect her from their wrath, SGC comes to the rescue.
A/n: Due to a special request from Gem, this story is based with her OC instead the one I’ve created.
~~~
For the first time in Revolver history, there was to be an all women’s show,  one that would be special for everyone involved. Eight women in the tournament, two non tournament matches, plus the show later that evening. While she wasn’t scheduled for the earlier show, Lana would be facing Semi-Finalist Vert Vixen in singles competition, a match that was planned to happen ten months prior. If it weren’t for her injury, the match would’ve happened then, and there should’ve been a new DEFY Women’s champion, or so she wanted. Tonight would change that for her, and she’d be damned if anyone took that from her a second time.
“Hey, you okay there?” Vert questioned, appearing from the left side.
“Stressed, honestly. I chased that title for so long, just to lose it to injury once.” Her sigh was met with a nod, and the champion patted her on the back.
“Believe it or not, I know how that can feel. Tonight, though, we’re getting our match.” Before the two women could say more, Lana’s music began to play, and she shifted herself  into focus.
The fans screamed her name as she strode her way to the ring, the rush of adrenaline in her veins. She knew it far too well, and it sent chills down her spine every time she stepped in the ring. The ropes moved under her body as she leaned against them, finishing her entrance, and she stepped out of the ring as Vert’s music began to play. Carefully, she watched as the woman bounced her way to the ring, the fuel rising in Lana’s veins. It wasn’t solely her who wanted the match, Vert did too, if only to prove herself. Not that she really needed to, but she swore to be the best DEFY Women’s champion, which is why she desired to win this. The bell sounded, and the two women locked up, the other trying to show their strength the fastest. As the match continued, Lana could feel the sweat dripping from her body, and groaned in pain as her leg came in contact with the floor. Before she could pull herself off the floor, the RED music blasted through the arena, distracting her from the match.
“What the hell?” She asked herself, trying to pull herself up to help out, but it was to no avail. The boot of Kelly’s falling on her stomach, preventing her from standing. A twisted smile lied on her lips, and she waved at Lana.
“Hi sweetie, sorry to break it to you, but Vert was attacked. She wins by DQ.” Kelly laughed, lifting her foot to stomp on her again.
Lana wanted to scream out, frustrated at her loss and the scene unfolding on her, but it was no use. This was RED’s game now, and she’d have to abide by the rules. There’d be a time for revenge, and she would get it, but it wasn’t here or now. Squirming around to break free of the hold, she heard the theme for Second Gear Crew, much to her confusement. However, when she saw Vert from her peripheral vision to attack Kelly, a sense of relief washed over her. Whilst she tried to pull herself from the ground, a hand appeared over her head, causing her to flinch, only to see that it was extended from Matthew.
“Hey, I’m here. It’s going to be alright sweetheart.” He condoled, making her smile softly. It wasn’t hidden, her feelings for him, nor was their recent flirting. They’d find each other at shows, and somehow find some way to have their hands on the other, whether it be in a hug or just hand holding.
Getting her to her feet, Matthew reached under her legs and carried her to the back bridal style. Her head rested against his chest, listening to his heart while he walked. It wasn’t the normal beat she’d come to fall asleep to some nights, but it was still his beat. As he carried her to medical, he kept whispering sweet nothings to her, reminding her she’ll be okay. When the doctor finished checking her out, he helped her leave for the hallway, where she needed to rest a moment.
“You didn’t need to do this.” She groaned out, holding her stomach.
“Yes, I did sweetheart. You were hurt, now hush and let me get you to catering.” He insisted, resting his hands on his hips.
“No need, I got her water for meds.” Manders called out from down the hall.
Matthew didn’t say anything, only nodded at his friend and tag partner. Manders passed her the bottle when he reached their destination, and she thanked him. As she took the meds, Matthew smiled lovingly at her, wanting her to be okay.
“Hey buddy, maybe we stop staring, yeah?” Manders chuckled, slapping his friend on the back.
“Shit, sorry sweetheart.” A whisper on her nickname, something he’d hadn’t done around friends before.
She didn’t say anything, just brought a hand up and grabbed a handful of his shirt. With ease, Lana pulled him down, and kissed him.
“Keep calling me that and I just might do that again.”
||Ch. 4: 삼색 고양이 (Calico Cat) ||
The morning of Jimin’s surgery comes by fast and he’s beyond nervous. I’ve spent the entire time trying to assure him that everything will be fine. He’s been fidgeting nonstop and I have to rest a hand on him every so often to get him to calm down.
Since he agreed to let me document his recovery, I agreed to help him out these next two weeks. Hoseok is out of town for a dance tournament and Jimin needs someone to help him while he’s unable to move around on his own.
There’s a possibility that Hoseok could be back before the full two weeks pass depending on how far his crew advances, but it’s Hoseok. We know he’ll be in the finals so we’re expecting him to be gone the entire time. Of course he made sure to send Jimin well wishes on his surgery this morning.
Seems like everyone on campus has been sending well wishes. Jimin was ok with Namjoon writing a small story that only detailed his injury and upcoming surgery. After that was published lots of texts, calls, flowers, and gifts have all come in wishing him a speedy recovery. The entire dance department even chipped in and sent him nearly 2 weeks worth of groceries. It’s been endearing to watch him turn red every time he receives another show of love and support from anyone.
He’s been checked in and changed into his hospital gown and now we’re just waiting for him to be taken away for the procedure. I’ve taken a few pictures but I’m trying my best not to overdo it. I know this is for my project, but there’s still a big part of me that would rather only have a few shots during this time than keep shoving my camera in his face when he’s as anxious as he is right now. I only want to comfort him as much as possible.
“You sure I’ll be ok?” Jimin asks for the millionth time.
“Yes,” I assure him again. “I promise you will be. I know it’s scary but think of it as the first step to getting back to dancing.”
“You’ll be here when I get out?” His eyes big and hopeful looking up at me from the bed.
“Of course, silly,” I giggle. “Did you think I would bring you and then just abandon you?”
His need for constant reassurance reminds me of a puppy that thinks it’s owner will never come back when they leave for work. He’ll look at me with the biggest puppy eyes and stick out his bottom lip in a pout making my heart melt.
“Sorry,” he chuckles. “I’m just really nervous. But thanks again for being here. I know you’re just working on your project, but I’m happy I don’t have to be here alone.”
“Ok first of all,” I start with a playful attitude. “Don’t make it sound like I’m only here for my project.”
“Why else would you be here?” He asks raising an eyebrow.
“You asked me to be here didn’t you?”
“You wanted to keep taking pictures of me.”
“Yes…”
“Would you have come if it wasn’t for your project?”
“Of course.”
“Why?”
“Well…what are you trying to get at here?”
“I’m just asking.” A smirk starts creeping across his face the more flustered I get.
“Well…who else would have come with you? Hoseok is gone so what would you have done?”
“I could have asked someone else.”
“Why didn’t you?”
“Because you’re cute.”
“What?”
He lays his head back on his pillow and smiles looking at the ceiling. I’m lost on him calling me cute. He hasn’t even been drugged yet, what is he saying?
“I don’t feel as anxious anymore,” he says. “Thanks.”
“Jimin, what?” I ask still confused.
“We had so many classes together in high school, why didn’t we hang out more?”
“Because our school’s shining star was too busy dancing,” I smile. “The only time I ever saw you outside of school was at your performances, but I couldn’t talk to you because you would get taken away for pictures and interviews. Are you forgetting that you’re a celebrity?”
“You went to my performances? Which ones?”
“The ones freshman year, and sophomore year…maybe the ones junior year and senior year too. And maybe a few of your competitions.” I can feel my entire face turning red from embarrassment as a smile takes over his face when he realizes that I haven’t actually missed a single performance of his since I’ve known him. I should have lied to him about that, why am I so honest??
“You were at all of my performances?”
“Well kind of, yeah. I mean everyone went! You were the best dancer so of course. The whole school went to your performances.” He continues smiling at me as I struggle to stop my mouth from digging myself into a deeper hole. I can’t believe I just let him completely unravel me like this.
“Right,” he smirks.
The nurse finally walks in to get him ready to move to the operating room.
“Good,” I say with relief. “Put him to sleep already.”
Jimin laughs giving me a cheeky wink. I think I liked it better when he was anxious and not having fun at my expense.
“Thanks, Mina,” he says smiling as he’s rolled out of the room.
I sit there left in the empty room with my head still reeling from whatever mind game he just played with me. I don’t think it’s a big deal that I went to all of his performances and competitions. He should know, everyone went to watch him.
Ok so maybe I had a small crush on him for a while, but what girl didn’t? He was a celebrity and the best looking guy at school. Girls were always hanging off of him and trying extremely hard to get his attention even just for a minute. He was always voted homecoming king and he had a line of girls begging him to choose them as his prom date. The funniest part was when he didn’t even attend prom because of a dance competition. There were so many broken hearts that night.
But not mine. It was only a small crush. We talked in class and whenever we ever saw each other outside of that, but I’m no fool. Anyone that thinks they have a chance with the most popular guy in school is only setting themselves up for heartbreak. Plus my crush was really small, I wasn’t thinking of dating him, I just thought he was cute.
He’s still cute though. And sweet. And smart. And funny. And caring.
What am I saying? Am I trying to resurrect this old crush I had in high school? I know I’ve spent a lot of time with him this semester, much more one on one time than I’ve ever had with him before, but I can’t let myself fall back into these silly teenage feelings.
I don’t even know if he would even be interested. I’ve never seen him date a single person in all of these years. He could’ve had anyone he wanted but he never showed interest. He could be asexual for all I know! Why am I even thinking about this? I need to occupy myself or something, I’m starting to lose my mind.
I step out of the room and go down stairs for a coffee from the cafe. I notice the gift shop and decide to waste some time looking around in there. It’s mostly filled with get well cards and congratulations cards for new parents. There’s balloons and endless amounts of stuffed animals and flowers.
One in particular catches my eye, a stuffed calico cat with big glassy eyes that remind me of the way Jimin looks when he’s pouting or pleading for something. I couldn’t help myself and I find myself purchasing the thing. Maybe he’ll like it, or he’ll think I’m silly for buying him a stuffed animal.
I go back to the room and wait a little longer before Jimin’s half conscious body is rolled in. The nurse lets me know he may be in and out until the anesthesia fully wears off in about an hour or two. The good news is there were no problems during his surgery and all went well. They’ll monitor him for a bit before discharging him and letting me take him back home.
When the nurse leaves I can’t help but smile at Jimin who looks so small and precious as he blinks his eyes over and over trying to bring himself back to reality. The anesthesia must be strong because he seems to be having a time getting out of the fog.
“Mina?” He mumbles.
“Yeah?” I respond standing next to him.
“You’re still here?”
“I told you I would be,” I chuckle.
He lets out an incoherent mumble and smiles lightly.
“I got you something too,” I say setting the stuffed cat in his lap. He looks down through his barely open eyes and smiles.
“Why’d you get me this?”
“I thought it looked like you.”
“Really?” He chuckles. “I guess it kind of does. It’s cute.”
“It is, isn’t it?”
“You think I’m cute?”
“You just lay there and let those drugs wear off,” I say patting his arm trying to avoid his question. Yes I think he’s cute, but he doesn’t need to know that right now.
“Thanks, Mina.” He smiles holding the stuffed cat close to his chest. “You’re sweet.”
“You think so?”
“I know so.”
Maybe I shouldn’t talk to him much when he’s in this state, it’s only going to add fuel to a fire that doesn’t need to be lit.
“Get some rest,” I say sitting back down.
But that’s not enough to stop him from rambling on in a anesthetic haze. Half of what he says makes no sense or is completely incoherent. But between those moments he says some things that are clear as day and messing with my emotions. Many different emotions.
“Why are you so nice to me?” He asks with his eyes closed.
“What?” I ask with my brows furrowed.
“People are only nice to me because they want something,” he slurs. “That’s all Nikki wanted.”
“Nikki?” I take a moment to think and realize he may be talking about one of the girls from our high school. She was an attention seeking type of person. Only trying out for the school plays as a way to get more attention. She didn’t care what she had to do, attention was attention to her whether good or bad.
“I thought she liked me,” he continues. “Everyone told me...”
“Jimin,” I whisper as if someone else is in the room. “Did you and Nikki date?” I can’t wrap my head around the possibility and that’s why I need to hear it from his mouth. Even if he is drugged right now. He never made it evident that he was dating anyone at all.
“No, but I liked her a lot.” He clinched his eyes tighter and strengthens his grip around the stuffed cat. “She’s the only person I ever asked out and the only person to turn me down. It would have been fine but she told everyone about it and made it sound like I was desperate to date her.”
“Oh,” is all I can manage to say. I wasn’t always in tune to the gossip going on around school, if it happened outside of band then I had no idea, so I don’t even remember any of this happening. I never knew he showed interest in anyone ever.
He rolls to his side facing me and grips the stuffed cat even tighter while closing his eyes. He must have been so heartbroken to open his heart to someone only to be hurt in the end. I can see why he hasn’t really dated anyone. She probably made it hard for him to want to open up to anyone else.
He says nothing else and I realize he’s fallen back to sleep under the anesthesia that hasn’t fully worn off yet. I wonder if he’ll even remember saying any of this to me.
I can’t help but pull out my camera and take a picture of him in this state. He looks absolutely adorable snuggled up with the stuffed cat. This picture isn’t for my project, but for my own personal pleasure. I just can’t let the moment pass without capturing it. He’s so precious.
About 20 minutes later he wakes up again, seemingly more aware of what’s around him. I can tell he’s still in a bit of a haze, but he’s not as far away in space as he was earlier.
“Can I go home yet?” He mumbles rubbing his eyes as if he’s waking up for the first time.
“Not yet, but soon. They just have to make sure you’re ok before letting you go.”
“My bed at home is more comfortable,” he mumbles hugging the cat.
“You’ll be there soon,” I assure him.
Soon turns out to be two and a half hours later. The anesthesia has worn off mostly but he’s still tired and fighting to keep his eyes open in the car as I drive him back to his apartment.
He’ll have to take some time to master using crutches, but for now I let him hang on to my shoulder as I help him inside and to his bed.
“I just wanna sleep,” Jimin says laying his head down on his pillow and closing his eyes.
“Go ahead. Get all the rest you need.” I grab some pillows and blankets out of his closet and use them to elevate his knee. “Just let me know if you need anything when you wake up, and I’ll come back over.”
“Stay with me, please.” He takes a beat to think about what he just said as I raise my brows at his request. “I mean, just for a little bit? I’d hate to have to call you back over as soon as you leave. Plus I don’t know if I’d be able to keep getting the door right now. I barely know how to use the crutches.”
“You want me to stay here? While you sleep?” I certainly don’t mind, but I want to make sure he’s fully aware of what he’s asking me.
“You need more pictures don’t you?”
“Is that your way of trying to convince me to stay?” I smirk.
“Mina, please? I just…I don’t like being alone.”
“Why not? You’re home, it’s not like you’re alone at the hospital.”
“I know,” he sighs. He’s looking down as he fidgets with the calico cat, and I’m starting to think there may be a deeper reason why he doesn’t want to be alone.
“Jimin, what’s wrong?” I’m not sure how to pose the question, but I want him to open up to me so that I can support him no matter what he’s going through. He looks so sad and I can’t bear looking at him like this.
“Nothing,” he says still fidgeting with the cat. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t put my problems on you. You don’t have to stay if you don’t want to. I’ll just let you know if I need anything.”
“You’re not putting your problems on me. I just want to know what’s wrong so I can try to help you.”
“It can’t be helped,” he whispers.
“What?”
“Thanks for taking me to and from the hospital.” He grips the stuffed cat into his chest and closes his eyes.
“I’ll be here if you need anything,” I whisper letting him rest. As much as I want to get deeper into what he’s talking about, I know he just needs to rest right now. I go in the living room and get comfortable on the couch and eventually find myself falling asleep as well.
I wake up an hour later to the sound of shuffling coming from Jimin’s room. I try not to overreact but still quickly spring into action hoping he didn’t fall or anything.
I step into his room to see him struggling to stay up on his crutches as he tries moving from his connected bathroom back to his bed.
“What are you doing?” I ask wrapping his arm around my shoulders for support.
“I didn’t know you were still here,” he says out of breath. “I had to go to the bathroom. Why is this so hard?!”
“It’s ok, I got you,” I say getting him back to the bed.
“I hate this,” he sighs.
“I know, I can help you learn to work the crutches if you want.”
“You can? You’ve used them before?”
“A long time ago when I sprained my ankle. It’s not that hard. Plus you’ll only need them for about a week or two so it won’t be so bad.”
Jimin smiles at me and nods allowing me to give him a quick lesson on how to use crutches. He’s understandably frustrated but he doesn’t give up trying.
I step to the other side of the room and let him try coming to me. He does fine until he nearly falls once he reaches me. Thankfully I’m able to catch him before he hits the floor.
“Ugh!” He’s clearly frustrated hanging on to me with all of his strength as I get him back to the bed. “It seems so simple, why am I having such a hard time?”
“It’s ok, you just have to get used to it.”
“I just want to be able to walk!” He fusses.
“I know, Jimin. You just have to be patient.” He looks near tears as he fixes his gaze on the ceiling in angered silence.
I sit on the bed next to him and place the stuffed calico cat in his lap.
“You should give it a name,” I say trying to take his mind off of his frustration.
“A name?” He looks at me then down to the plush feline.
“Yeah,” I say trying to rub some enthusiasm off on him. “You can’t just call it ‘cat’ it needs a proper name.”
“I see,” he chuckles. “Maybe I’ll name it Blossom.”
“Blossom?”
“Yeah, like a flower.”
“I think it’s perfect. Little Blossom.”
“Why did you stay?” He asks.
“You asked me to.”
“Did you take more pictures?”
“No, actually I fell asleep on the couch,” I chuckle.
“Oh,” he chuckles lightly. “Thanks. I’m glad you were here to help me.”
“No problem. Are you hungry? Do you want me to order us some food?”
“You don’t have to do that, I’m sure I can make a sandwich or something.” I can tell he’s just saying that to be nice, but I’m not about to have him eating a lunch meat sandwich when I can order us some real food to be delivered.
“What about a sub sandwich from the deli? And maybe a cup of soup?” I pull out my phone and show him the menu to order.
“You don’t have to-“
“But I’m going to,” I interject. “You can pick what you want or not.”
“You really don’t give people room to argue, do you?” He laughs taking my phone to put in his order.
“Nope,” I smirk.
He shakes his head and smiles while entering his order on my phone. I agreed to hang around a little longer after our meal and then head back home.
I gave him another training session with the crutches after we finish eating and he seems to be getting the hang of it better.
Before I can make my way out Hoseok video calls and bombards me with questions. Seems he doesn’t trust Jimin to know or even remember everything the doctors said today so he asks me instead.
Nothing gets past Hoseok. He has to know what Jimin ate, how much, if he’s been moving around a little and keeping his leg elevated. Jimin’s cheeks are turning red from embarrassment but I think it’s funny how motherly Hoseok is with him. Once he’s satisfied he ends the call sending his best wishes, as we do the same wishing him well in his dance tournament.
Somehow Jimin and I begin talking about dramas. He finished the one I previously recommended to him and asks if there are any others he can watch while he’s stuck at home recovering. I told him about one that I’m wanting to start because lots of people said it was good.
I was going to go home. It’s getting late and I still have class in the morning. I was going to leave a bottle of water next to his bed along with his pain medicine in case he needed it. I was going to prepare some simple overnight oats for him so he can have breakfast in the morning since I won’t be able to come by until the afternoon.
I was going to.
Instead, I found myself sitting next to him on the bed with Blossom in between us as we start the first episode of the highly recommended drama.
[Requested – see request here]
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/n and Sirius meet for the first time since he was taken to azkaban but y/n won’t talk to him because she’s still upset over him leaving so their daughters pull a little ‘parent trap’ on them
Warnings: swearing, mentions of death, argument, kissing, hurt/comfort
a/n:  3.0k words, I’ve used two of my OC’s for the kids since they are written to actual be his twin children but you can ignore the character art from Robyn on my page and picture her like yourself x oh and there was a film called the parent trap in 1961 which is the one I’m referencing not the newer one since it wouldn’t match in the time line (yes I did google it and I had no idea Linsey Lohan’s wasn’t the original), finally thanks for the request and enjoy!!
You took a deep breath as you walked into the house, the girls were already there since you had to tie up a few things before moving to Grimmauld place. It was nearing 14 years since you last saw your husband, although your girls had already met him with Harry when they confronted him and then again when he was staying nearby during the tournament.
Unlike your daughters, you were still mad at him, not because you believed he was a murder you knew he was innocent but because you had begged him to stay with you and the kids instead of running off after Peter. You were mad because if he had stayed then maybe things would be different, the girls would have had their dad, Harry could have stayed with you and Peter would be in prison.
“Filthy bloodtraitor! Your and my sons spawn are disgraces to the Black name…” you jump at Walburga as she continues to throw more insults your way
“Oh, shut up mother!” you freeze recognising the voice “Sorry about…” Sirius walks out ready to apologise to another order member for his mother’s behaviour when he sees you “y/n” he breaths out a smile gracing his face, his heart bursting at seeing you again while yours was doing the same under the layers of anger you were trying to hide
Taking in his appearance he was still as handsome as ever and the smile on his face almost made you want to run and jump into his arms as he walks up to give you a hug but you step back
“Where are the girls?” you ask ignoring the clench in your heart as you see his hurt expression
“Oh” the man feels his heart break but he recovers “They’re in the dining room just through there” he points to the room he came out of with a tight-lipped smile
You nod saying a meek ‘thank you’ as you walk past him in to the room while he just watches you leave stunned as his heart sinks
“That was awkward” Sirius’ head shoots towards the stairs to see Remus giving him a cringy look “You alright?” he asks as he walks down
Sirius shakes his head “Not exactly the reaction I was hoping for” he admits, before his breath quickens as the panicked thoughts set in “You don’t think she found some else? I mean I was gone for so long I shouldn’t have just expected her…” he places his hand to his head feeling guilty for just assuming nothing would have changed
“Stop jumping to conclusions, she might be feeling the same way, you’ve been apart for well over a decade its normal if things are a bit awkward” Remus places his hand on his friends back trying to calm him “Come on” he nods his head to follow him into the room
You look up from the girls to see them walking in, you return the smile Remus gives you standing up to give him a hug “Rem you look great” you say as you hug him
Oh yeah give him a hug, I’m just your husband, Sirius thinks watching the scene before hearing a giggle from one his girls. He looks over to see Robyn giving him a knowing look before whispering in her sister ear to which she then turns to giggle at him. Forgot you could do that robs, he smiles at his daughter before turning back to you and Remus
“Missed you too y/n” Remus smiles as he pulls away before looking at Sirius
You follow his gaze, as you meet his eyes your knees start to feel weak but you quickly remember your still upset “Umm are the Weasley’s here yet?” you look between the two
“Yeah they’re arriving in a couple hours” Jamie answers smiling as she nudges Robyn who smiles shyly
“Great” you smile
Tumblr media
“Robs?” Jamie comes into the girls shared room closing the door behind her
“Yeah?” Robyn turns to her sister, seeing the mischievous smirk on her face “I know that look”
“Then you know I have come up with a genius plan” Jamie smiles proudly as she plops onto her bed across from her sister
Robyn eyes her “And by genius a plan that has no chance of working but somehow works anyway?”
“Yeah, you in?” Jamie grins already knowing the answer
“Always” Robyn puts down her book moving to sit next to her “What’s the plan?”
“We know mum still loves dad from all the stories but she’s just being stubborn and it’s so obvious dads whipped for mum but he doesn’t want to push her so…” Jamie starts before letting a cheesy smile spread across her face at her own plan
“So” Robyn extends the syllables as she giggles at her sister
“We’re gonna be having dinner with the Weasleys soon but after I’m gonna ask mum if I can talk to her in our room and your gonna ask dad to do the same then we lock them in until they start talking” she explains smiling triumphantly
“You know they can just undo the locking charm and get out, right?” Robyn raises her eyebrow at her sister
“Fuck I forgot they could do that” she cringes
“But we could pickpocket their wands” Robyn suggests before her eyes light up “Ooo we could ask Freddie and George to help they’re really good at that kind of thing”
“Good idea, I’ll work with George and you with Freddie” she teases her sister who nudges her
“Shut up, let’s go” Robyn huffs standing up as she attempts to hide her heated cheeks, as they walk out of the room she turns to her sister “Jams?”
“Yeah” Jamie looks over at her
“You ever seen parent trap?” Robyn poses as her sister’s idea is a bit familiar, she shakes her head confused “Remind me to show you it sometime you’ll love it”
Tumblr media
“Robs here thought it would be a great idea to get me out of class so she went to Flitwick and told him Sprout needed to talk to me, but turns out he needed to talk to her as well so escorted me there. Now robs realising her flawed plan, sprints all the way to Sprouts classroom to make up an excuse, long story short that’s how me and Robs spend 12 hours in the forest on a herbology field class” Jamie says, annoyance evident as she says the last three words while Robyn bites her lip embarrassed across from her and the rest of the table starts laughing
“It wasn’t that bad, me and Neville had fun you just complained the whole time and” Robyn points at her sister “In my defence the plan was sound it’s not my fault Flitwick needed to go flirt with her” she defends herself, earning a chuckle from Sirius and Remus
“Can you blame me though, I mean how many types of green plant are there they all looked the same and it was damp and cold” Jamie complains “This is why I come up with the plans because I am the clever twin” she states, earing chuckles from the ginger set of twins
Ooo you want me to tell them about you crushing on Dora before you realised she was our cousin? Robyn smirks as she projects her thoughts towards her sister
Don’t you dare, Jamie thinks leaving her thoughts open for her and Robyn to talk
“They’re doing it again” George notes while the girls are busy in their mental conversation
“You know I thought we were weird twins but they make us look normal” Fred jokes
“It is interesting” Remus notes as he looks at Sirius
“Reg could do that too, Robyn must have inherited it” Sirius looks over at his daughter with a sad smile on his face
You look up at his comment, a sympathetic look on your face as you look at him. You remembered him crying in your arms when Regulus joined the deatheaters and then again when it was clear he hadn’t survived. Sirius looks over to meet your eyes, seeing a familiar look in your eyes before you realised you were staring and turned away
Right I think everyone’s almost finished so have you filled Fred in? Jamie asks
Yeah, I’m going… Robyn starts but stops as she hears a thought from the man himself
Robyn’s so pretty, Fred thinks as he eats the rest of his meal
Robs, robbbbsssss, Jamie tries to get her attention
Fred thinks I look pretty, Robyn grins at her sister
I fucking told you he likes you, she looks up as you gather your plate and stand up walking towards the kitchen, shit plan is a go, moms making her exit you go get dad, I’ll lock the door and you snog Fred because me and Georgie have a bet and I want to win so snog the ginger, Jamie thinks fast as she stands up hitting George to get up next to her as they head after you not before she turns to Fred and her sister “Robs can hear all open thoughts by the way” she winks at Fred who’s face tints red
Robyn tries her best not to giggle at Fred’s reaction and even more so not to blush as she squeezes his hand to signal to him to follow her as she heads towards Sirius “Hey dad?”
“Yeah” he smiles at his daughter, before Fred ‘bumps’ into him on his way out of the room
“Sorry” he apologises
“No worries” Sirius shakes his head chuckling as he turns back to Robyn who tries to keep her blush in check as Fred winks at her holding the wand in the air before walking out
“Hey do you mind if I talk to you in private in my room? I wanted to ask you about something important” Robyn bites her lip a trait she knows she does when she’s nervous or worried
“Yeah of course darling, give me a second I’ll be up in a minute” he nods at his daughter giving her a quick hug before she walks out and up the stairs quickly
As she heads towards the door she hears her dad coming up much quicker then she expected but Fred pulls her into his and Georges room. Sirius walks up none the wiser as he heads to his children’s shared room, but instead of Robyn he is met with you sitting on the bed looking at him confused
He walks further into the room “Where’s Robs”
“Robs? Jamie wanted to talk to…” you close your eyes as you realise you both got played “Girls!”
Just as you yell Jamie and George appear at the door “Sorry not sorry” she says as she closes the door locking it
You try the door before hitting it slightly “Jamie open the door” you call through while Sirius tries not to snigger to loudly as his daughter calls back
“Sorry mum but you two aren’t getting out of their until you two actually talk to each other!” Jamie shouts through the door “Oh and we already swiped your wands!” she calls again
“That’s your genetics” you point at Sirius
He chuckles before watching you go towards one of the girl’s mirrors “What are you doing?”
“Getting…aha” you look around before you spot a bobby pin “this” you hold it up to him before walking over to the door “I’m getting us out of here”
Sirius kneels down next to you “Where did you learn to do that?” he raises an eyebrow impressed
You turn to look at him, gasping slightly as you realise how close your faces are “Marlene” you swallow not trusting yourself to say more as you turn back to the lock
He nods letting out a laugh “Of course” he looks at you as you attempt to open the door, placing a hand on your shoulder “Y/n?”
The sudden hand on your shoulder makes you jump a bit as you turn back to him “What?” even you wince a bit as it comes out harsher than you meant
“Why won’t you talk to me? I know you know I didn’t do it so why are you icing me out?” you can see it in his eyes how much he’s trying to hide the hurt
You sign stopping your attempts on the door, letting your hands fall to your lap as you sit back on your knees “Sirius I don’t want to talk about this” you shake your head but he isn’t having it
“I think I deserve to know why my wife won’t talk to me” he lets out an empty laugh “Please y/n tell me if you’ve moved on or found someone else and I’ll res…” he starts
“I didn’t find anyone else” you say a bit offended
“You haven’t” he looks at you hopefully “Then why?” he winces as he says the next bit “Did you…did you fall out of love with me?” he can feel his heart in your hand terrified how bad it’s going to hurt if you say ‘yes’
“No of course not” he lets out a sigh in relief but your face hardens “But I am furious with you”
“You still…” his eyebrows knit together “Why are you mad at me?” he looks confused
“Why? You left me alone with two toddlers to raise” Your eyes begin to tear up “I begged you to stay with me but no, your revenge on that rat was too important, more important than your kids, more important than…than me” you break down and Sirius’ heart aches as your voice breaks whispering the last part
“Y/n” he tries to think of something to say but nothing comes out
“It wasn’t just that Sirius” you wipe your tears “When you didn’t get a trial I tried to protest but they said my statement was void and if I kept pushing I would lose…I would lose the girls”
Sirius had started to cry as well now, he didn’t say anything just pulled you into him. You tensed up at first but slowly melted into him wrapping your arms around his torso as he pulled you over his lap kissing your hair as he repeated ‘I’m so sorry’
After a few minutes you pull away from him “I know you are” you sniff a bit wiping your nose
Sirius wipes away your tear stained cheeks with the pad of his thumb “There wasn’t a day that when by in there I didn’t think about you and the girls, leaving that night is the biggest mistake of my life” he takes both of your cheeks in his hands as your own hands move to grip his wrists “I hate that my last moment with you was me breaking your heart and I hate myself for doing that to you. You deserve a far better husband than me and I understand if you don’t want to be with me” he lets out a laugh “I wouldn’t forgive me”
You close your eyes for a moment before you speak “But I do…forgive you, even if you are the silliest man in the world” you move your hands to cup his cheeks “You’re my silly man” you let out a small laugh through your years
“I don’t deserve you” he kisses your forehead
“No you don’t…” you pout before a small smirk appears across your face “…but you can start to make it up to me by giving me a real kiss”
He smiles leaning down to give you a kiss for the first time in so long, both of you melting into it, savouring it. As he pulls away he rests his forehead on yours “I never stopped loving you, not for a moment”
You peck his lips lightly “Me either” he smiles kissing you again before you look back at the door “Come on let’s get out of here because you know what Jamie’s like she’ll have forgotten or got distracted” he chuckles nodding as you pick up the pin again
You start fiddling with the door as Sirius kisses your shoulder, soon the lock clicks and you try the door “Amazing darling” he kisses your cheek as you bask in the old pet name
“Thanks, Siri” you say as you stand up opening the door while Sirius’ heart flutter with your use of his old nickname
You and Sirius hold hands as you leave, spotting the younger of your girls holding her hand up towards one of the twins “Cough up George” she motions with her hand as the boy huffs pulling some sickles out of his pocket and handing her them, as she is about to presumably gloat she spots you and Sirius “Mom, Dad”
Georges head whips around as well as you both approach the door to the twin’s room “What where you two betting on” Sirius shakes his daughters shoulder smiling before it drops as he looks in the room
Sirius coughs loudly making your daughter and Fred pull apart, both going wide eyed, Robyn biting her lip looking like a deer in headlights and Fred looking like he’s preparing himself for Sirius killing him while you smile, looks like George isn’t the only Weasley that owes money
Chapter Thirty-Seven: A New Vow.
Many things changed as the school year came to an end, none of them was good.
Students would avoid her in the halls, they would stare at her and Harry carelessly, some frowning, some just plain scared. That wasn't new and it didn't hurt her anymore.
What hurt her was the way Harry grew distant out of the blue. He wouldn't touch her, not even sit beside her on accident. He would talk to her as if nothing had happened but she could see it in his eyes, some kind of distress, she had the ugly feeling that he resented her.
Mel was talking to Erick one morning in the courtyard, where they used to hang out during her first year. She was there to deliver Dumbledore's message and to thank him, it was their first time talking since the first task.
"I don't know what I would've done without the watch... it saved us."
Erick shook his head. "I merely confirmed his suspicions, Dumbledore was already looking for you when I got to him."
"You got him when I fainted during the task, you stood guard outside the tent while we were inside and I was..." She didn't know what to call it, her first thought was always directed to the word 'dying' but she knew now that those weren't her feelings, it was Harry who'd been dying, not her.
"You looked possessed. I thought you were... that you had..."
"That I was crazy," Mel sighed.
"...How's Harry?"
"We don't talk about that," Mel frowned, not wanting to go there. "Dumbledore has a message for you."
"Tell me."
"You won't like it."
"Try me."
"He said you could be of help," She replied carefully. "That if you're willing, you could join us."
"For what?" Erick asked in puzzlement.
"He didn't explain... said you could search for rogues."
After ten seconds, Erick spoke timidly. "Rogues like me?"
"I think so..."
"He wants me to dig around, see if any other Slytherin shares my... views."
"He kept saying how we have to stick together," Mel shook her head. "I think he's expecting us to try harder next year, unite the houses while we can..."
"I..." Erick started to stress. "It's too dangerous for me, you know that. Half of my friends come from Death Eaters or you-know-who's supporters. It's like walking on thin ice."
"You don't have to do it," Mel said promptly. "I know how your parents feel about this, and if they catch you doing something like that, trying to speak in Dumbledore's favour... I know that in comparison to me, you're on your own. I can't make you risk your well being like this."
Erick stared at her, he remained silent for a while, Mel didn't know what to do.
"Did you know, Miss," He finally uttered, "that Rapunzel isn't saved by a prince?"
She tilted her head and waited for him to finish.
"Found her way out of the mess, rebuilt her life on her own," Erick continued calmly. "I believe we'll do too."
"Bin havin' a cuppa with Olympe," Hagrid said as they settled around his table. "She's jus' left."
"Who?" said Ron curiously.
"Madame Maxime, o' course!" said Hagrid.
"You two made up, have you?" said Ron.
"Dunno what yeh're talkin' about," said Hagrid. When he had made tea and offered around a plate of doughy cookies, he leaned back in his chair and examined Harry and Mel closely. "You all righ'?"
"Yeah," said Harry.
"All right," Mel smiled.
"No, yeh're not," said Hagrid. " 'Course yeh're not. But yeh will be. Knew he was goin' ter come back. Known it fer years, Harry. Knew he was out there, bidin' his time. It had ter happen. Well, now it has, an' we'll jus' have ter get on with it. We'll fight. Migh' be able ter stop him before he gets a good hold. That's Dumbledore's plan, anyway. Great man, Dumbledore. 'S long as we've got him, I'm not too worried."
Mel looked down to her cup, frowning.
"No good sittin' worryin' abou' it," He said, patting her shoulder gently. "What's comin' will come, an' we'll meet it when it does. Dumbledore told me wha' you did. Yeh did as much as yer fathers would've done, an' I can' give yeh no higher praise than that."
They smiled, the very first glimpse of their old self coming to the surface.
"What's Dumbledore asked you to do, Hagrid?" Harry asked. "He sent Professor McGonagall to ask you and Madame Maxime to meet him — that night."
"Got a little job fer me over the summer– Secret, though. I'm not s'pposed ter talk abou' it, no, not even ter you lot. Olympe — Madame Maxime ter you — might be comin' with me. I think she will. Think I got her persuaded."
"Is it to do with Voldemort?" "Migh' be," Hagrid grimaced. "Now... who'd like ter come an'visit the las' skrewt with me? I was jokin' — jokin'!"
Mel's eyes found Harry's and he quickly averted his gaze. She frowned, a resolution already forming in her mind that she would clear things out with her best friend before they were back home.
She walked into his room when she knew he'd be alone packing up his things.
"Harry?"
"Yeah?" He said, gaze fixed on his trunk.
"I want to talk to you. You're the only one I want to talk to, but you keep avoiding me..."
"What d'you mean?"
"Can you at least look at me for just a second?" She frowned.
Harry did as told, his face remaining neutral as Mel approached. She looked into his eyes and pulled him in for a hug.
"I'm sorry," She mumbled against his shoulder. "Whatever I did– Please don't be mad. I swear all I wanted was to help you–"
Harry stepped away from her, not returning the hug.
"What're you talking about?"
"You know what I'm talking about! You don't... you won't–"
"I'm not mad at you!" Harry said exasperated. "Don't you see this is all my fault?"
Mel blinked.
"What?"
"I saw the bruises... What happened to you during the time Voldemort got me– you could've died!"
"Harry," She looked at him in disbelief. "You could've died."
"This is about you," He replied firmly. "It's my fault. I've dragged you to all of my mistakes and you end up hurt–"
"Those were my choices–"
"It was never your idea," He stated. "Dumbledore said that we're too close..."
"No! That's not... I did all that because I need you to be–"
"This was a mistake," Harry was breathing heavily, he was in distress. "What we did was a mistake."
"What, exactly?" She said in a shaky whisper, knowing where this was going.
"You know," His eyes hardened.
"That's rubbish!" It felt like holding sand, desperately trying not to let him slip away from her fingers. "This is not the solution–!"
"I don't think I ever liked you for real," He blurted out, "it wasn't my choice..."
"What?"
"I... I mean it," He turned around, hastily packing the last bits of clothing. "I think it might be the lifeline stuff... didn't like that you were getting close to other people– It sounds selfish, but it makes sense... some kind of instinct– doesn't mean it was real..."
"Harry, don't be stu–"
"I don't want you," He insisted. "I can't have you."
"Glasses–"
"My name is Harry!" He yelled, turning to face her. "Stop calling me that! I hate it! I hate the stupid nickname and I don't like you!"
Mel felt cornered, Harry had never spoken to her like that before. He turned back and slammed down the lid of his trunk.
"Just leave me alone." He said, abandoning the conversation as well as the room.
She stumbled back to his bed, falling heavily on it. Without being able to control herself, she burst into tears.
Tumblr media
Mel avoided him for the rest of the term, spending most of her free time with the twins like the old times. It was good for her spirit, they knew how to make her laugh. During the feast she was seated between them, Dumbledore stood up to give his farewell speech and they fell silent.
"The end of another year. There is much that I would like to say to you all tonight," said Dumbledore, fixing his eyes on the Hufflepuff table, "but I must first acknowledge the loss of a very fine person, who should be sitting here, enjoying our feast with us. I would like you all, please, to stand, and raise your glasses, to Cedric Diggory."
And so they did. Every student in the room.
"Cedric was a person who exemplified many of the qualities that distinguish Hufflepuff house. He was a good and loyal friend, a hard worker, he valued fair play. His death has affected you all, whether you knew him well or not. I think that you have the right, therefore, to know exactly how it came about... Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort."
George looked down at her and put a hand on her shoulder, squeezing lightly.
"The Ministry of Magic does not wish me to tell you this. It is possible that some of your parents will be horrified that I have done so — either because they will not believe that Lord Voldemort has returned, or because they think I should not tell you so, young as you are. It is my belief, however, that the truth is generally preferable to lies, and that any attempt to pretend that Cedric died as the result of an accident, or some sort of blunder of his own, is an insult to his memory. There is somebody else who must be mentioned in connection with Cedric's death," Dumbledore went on. "I am talking, of course, about Harry Potter."
She refused to look for him and kept her gaze on the old man ahead.
"Harry Potter managed to escape Lord Voldemort. He risked his own life to return Cedric's body to Hogwarts. He showed, in every respect, the sort of bravery that few wizards have ever shown in facing Lord Voldemort, and for this, I honour him."
She lifted her goblet and said his name, but found herself saying it with a new resentment that had never been there before. It didn't feel right.
"The Triwizard Tournament's aim was to further and promote magical understanding. In the light of what has happened — of Lord Voldemort's return — such ties are more important than ever before. Every guest in this Hall, will be welcomed back here at any time, should they wish to come. I say to you all, once again — in the light of Lord Voldemort's return, we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Lord Voldemort's gift for spreading discord and enmity is very great. We can fight it only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust. Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open. It is my belief — and never have I so hoped that I am mistaken — that we are all facing dark and difficult times. Some of you in this Hall have already suffered directly at the hands of Lord Voldemort. Many of your families have been torn asunder. A week ago, a student was taken from our midst."
Her fists were closed tightly, there was still a faint greenish shadow were the bruise on her forearm had been days before.
"Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory."
" 'Arry!" Fleur Delacour was hurrying up the stone steps, Joseph was beside her.  "We will see each uzzer again, I 'ope. I am 'oping to get a job 'ere, to improve my Eenglish."
"It's very good already," said Ron clumsily.
Mel had her attention on Joseph.
"It was nice," Mel smiled fondly. "You're ten times funnier than your cousin."
Joseph laughed.
"Don't judge him too hard, it's the way he's been brought up. He used to be a lousy kid, very loving too... people grow out of it, unfortunately."
"Will I ever see you again?"
"Maybe," He smiled sweetly at her. "Take care, will you?"
"Yes."
"Will you watch after my cousin too?"
"Not like I have a choice..."
He chuckled. "See you, Mel."
"Good-bye, 'Arry," said Fleur, turning to go with Joseph. "It 'az been a pleasure meeting you!"
As Mel watched them leave, she had the reassuring feeling that maybe Erick wasn't entirely on his own after all.
"Wonder how the Durmstrang students are getting back," said Ron. "D'you reckon they can steer that ship without Karkaroff?"
"Karkaroff did not steer. He stayed in his cabin and let us do the vork." Krum said behind them. He looked at Hermione. "Could I have a vord?"
"Oh... yes... all right," said Hermione.
"You'd better hurry up!" Ron called loudly after her. "The carriages'll be here in a minute!"
"Oh shut up, Ron," Mel scolded. "Let her have one moment in private with him."
"What, is not like she'll be missing him lots, they didn't even date."
"You don't need to date someone in order to miss them," She snapped. "Or like them, for that matter..." She felt Harry purposefully look away as she spoke. When Krum returned, he talked to them.
"I liked Diggory. He vos alvays polite to me. Alvays. Even though I vos from Durmstrang — with Karkaroff."
"Have you got a new headmaster yet?" Harry asked.
Krum shrugged. He held out his hand as Fleur had done, shook Harry's hand, and then Ron's. Ron looked as though he was suffering some sort of painful internal struggle. Krum had already started walking away when Ron burst out, "Can I have your autograph?"
Hermione turned away, smiling at the horseless carriages that were now trundling toward them up the drive, as Krum, looking surprised but gratified, signed a fragment of parchment for Ron.
The trip back was good enough, even if Mel and Harry couldn't look at each other in the eye. Dumbledore's speech had given them energies, and just like he'd said before, they still had to remain together, for the greater good.
"There's nothing in there," Hermione signalled to the Daily Prophet Harry was staring at. "You can look for yourself, but there's nothing at all. I've been checking every day. Just a small piece the day after the third task saying you won the tournament. They didn't even mention Cedric. Nothing about any of it. If you ask me, Fudge is forcing them to keep quiet."
"Of course he is," Mel scoffed, "he's an idiot, but not that kind of idiot."
"He'll never keep Rita quiet," said Harry. "Not on a story like this."
"Oh, Rita hasn't written anything at all since the third task," said Hermione delightedly. "As a matter of fact, Rita Skeeter isn't going to be writing anything at all for a while. Not unless she wants me to spill the beans on her."
"What are you talking about?" said Ron.
"I found out how she was listening in on private conversations when she wasn't supposed to be coming onto the grounds," said Hermione.
"Oh, right!" Mel said. "What was that about?"
"How was she doing it?" said Harry.
"How did you find out?" said Ron.
"Well, it was you and Mel who gave me the idea, Harry."
"What? How?"
"Bugging," said Hermione happily.
"But you said they didn't work —"
"Oh not electronic bugs," said Hermione. "No, you see... Rita Skeeter" — Hermione's voice trembled with quiet triumph — "is an unregistered Animagus. She can turn —" Hermione pulled a small sealed glass jar out of her bag. "— into a beetle."
"You're kidding," said Ron. "You haven't... she's not..."
"Oh yes she is," said Hermione.
"Holy Godric," Mel laughed loudly for the first time in days.
"That's never — you're kidding —" Ron mumbled, examining the jar.
"No, I'm not. I caught her on the windowsill in the hospital wing. Look very closely, and you'll notice the markings around her antennae are exactly like those foul glasses she wears."
"There was a beetle on the statue the night we heard Hagrid telling Madame Maxime about his mum!" Harry exclaimed.
"When you fainted there was a beetle in the curtain as well," Mel replied, her eyes fixed on the tiny creature. "And when I talked to Cedric before the first task..."
"Exactly. And Viktor pulled a beetle out of my hair after we'd had our conversation by the lake. She's been buzzing around for stories all year."
"When we saw Malfoy under that tree..."
"He was talking to her, in his hand. He knew, of course. That's how she's been getting all those nice little interviews with the Slytherins. They wouldn't care that she was doing something illegal, as long as they were giving her horrible stuff about us and Hagrid. I've told her I'll let her out when we get back to London. I've put an Unbreakable Charm on the jar, you see, so she can't transform. And I've told her she's to keep her quill to herself for a whole year. See if she can't break the habit of writing horrible lies about people."
"Hermione, I love you," Mel grinned.
The door of the compartment slid open.
"Very clever, Granger," Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle were standing there. "So, you caught some pathetic reporter, and Potter's Dumbledore's favourite boy again. Big deal." He stared at them with bright eyes. "Trying not to think about it, are we? Trying to pretend it hasn't happened?"
"Get out," Harry tensed.
"You've picked the losing side, Potter! I warned you! I told you you ought to choose your company more carefully, remember? When we met on the train, first day at Hogwarts? I told you not to hang around with riffraff like this! Too late now, Potter! They'll be the first to go, now the Dark Lord's back! Mudbloods and Muggle-lovers first! Well — second — Diggory was the f —"
It was as though someone had exploded a box of fireworks within the compartment. Blinded by the blaze of the spells that had blasted from every direction, deafened by a series of bangs, Harry blinked and looked down at the floor.
Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle were all on the ground and they were on their feet, all four of them having used a different hex. Nor were they the only ones to have done so.
"Thought we'd see what those three were up to," said Fred entering their compartment.
"Interesting effect," said George, examining Crabbe. "Who used the Furnunculus Curse?"
"Me," said Harry.
"Odd– I used Jelly-Legs. Looks as though those two shouldn't be mixed. He seems to have sprouted little tentacles all over his face. Well, let's not leave them here, they don't add much to the decor."
Ron, Harry, and George pushed them out into the corridor, when they straighten up, Ron turned his head slightly towards her.
"Er... Mel?"
She walked out of the compartment and found Erick standing there, looking down at the three Slytherins.
"Oh," She smiled. "Hello. Don't worry boys, I got this."
Erick had a sort of exasperated look on his face.
"Why don't you turn around and forget you saw this," George ignored her. "We promise not to hurt you if you do."
"You promise not to hurt me?" Erick let out a dry laugh. "Right..."
"He's not here to report us," Ron said, pushing his brother back into the compartment. "Listen to Mel..."
"Don't annoy her, the year's over and so is the committee," George insisted.
"George," Mel sighed. "It's okay."
"Listen, we can clear all doubts in a moment, but can I talk to her first?" Erick frowned. "In private."
The boys entered the compartment reluctantly, they had just closed the door when he spoke.
"I'll do it. Whatever Dumbledore wants me to do."
Mel was taken by surprise.
"Are you sure?"
"What he said during the speech... he's right," He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "It's time to make a choice."
"But your parents–"
"Don't have to know. If there's any chance that there are more people like me... if I can convince them... it'll be worth it, right?"
Before she could stop herself, she held his hand.
"Come."
"What?"
"Come in for a second, meet the Weasleys."
"So they can kill me? No thanks–"
"They won't," She dragged him inside. Everyone stared at them. "Erick won't report us."
"Good for him," Ron replied in disinterest.
"I think it's time we clear things up," She continued with determination. "Erick and I are good friends. He doesn't need to prove his loyalty to anyone, but he wants to help my uncle, so it'd be brilliant if you could, you know, be nice to him."
"No need to look so outraged," Erick said, staring at the twins' faces. "Being a Slytherin doesn't equal being a monster. I could've reported you to Professor McGonagall thousands of times during the school year but I kept my mouth shut. Why?"
"Because you knew we could've kicked your arse?"
"Very classy," He rolled his eyes. "I did it out of consideration for Mel. Now Dumbledore asked for my help and that's what I'll give. All I want is for you to stay out of my way and stop acting like I'm the danger. I assure you, Mel's the bad influence here. All I care about is being of use."
A heavy silence surrounded them as the boys processed the news.
"All right then, be of use," George shrugged. "Close the door and sit down, we've had enough visitors for today."
"Exploding Snap, anyone?" said Fred, pulling out a pack of cards. "Be of use, Flint, open the window before you sit."
"I'm going to regret this..." Erick groaned, doing as asked.
She purposely seated Erick between her and Harry for the rest of the trip.
Tumblr media
"You going to tell us, then?" Harry said to George after a while. "Who you were blackmailing?"
"What?" Erick looked around in confusion.
"Long story," Hermione said over her book.
"It doesn't matter," said Fred. "It wasn't anything important. Not now, anyway."
"We've given up," said George, shrugging.
"Come on!"
Harry, Hermione, Ron and her insisted so much that Fred lost his patience.
"All right, all right, if you really want to know... it was Ludo Bagman."
"Bagman? Are you saying he was involved in —"
"Nah. Nothing like that. Stupid git. He wouldn't have the brains."
"Well, what, then?"
"You remember that bet we had with him at the Quidditch World Cup? About how Ireland would win, but Krum would get the Snitch?"
"Yeah."
"Well," He glanced at Mel, "The git paid us in leprechaun gold he'd caught from the Irish mascots."
"So?"
"So," said Fred, "it vanished, didn't it? By next morning, it had gone!"
"So I guess, you could say I told you so, Lady," George scowled. "We were idiots."
"But — it must've been an accident, mustn't it?" said Hermione.
"Yeah, that's what we thought, at first. We thought if we just wrote to him, and told him he'd made a mistake, he'd cough up. But nothing doing. Ignored our letter. We kept trying to talk to him about it at Hogwarts, but he was always making some excuse to get away from us."
"In the end, he turned pretty nasty," said Fred. "Told us we were too young to gamble, and he wasn't giving us anything."
"So we asked for our money back."
"He didn't refuse!" gasped Hermione.
"Right in one," said Fred.
"But that was all your savings!"
"Tell me about it," George scoffed. "'Course, we found out what was going on in the end. Lee Jordan's dad had had a bit of trouble getting money off Bagman as well. Turns out he's in big trouble with the goblins. Borrowed loads of gold off them. A gang of them cornered him in the woods after the World Cup and took all the gold he had, and it still wasn't enough to cover all his debts. They followed him all the way to Hogwarts to keep an eye on him. He's lost everything gambling. Hasn't got two Galleons to rub together. And you know how the idiot tried to pay the goblins back?"
"How?"
"He put a bet on you, mate," said Fred. "Put a big bet on you to win the tournament. Bet against the goblins."
"I knew it!" Mel exclaimed.
"So that's why he kept trying to help me win! Well — I did win, didn't I? So he can pay you your gold!"
"Nope– The goblins play as dirty as him. They say you drew with Diggory, and Bagman was betting you'd win outright. So Bagman had to run for it. He did run for it right after the third task."
"My Grandad's a big fan of Zonko's," Erick mentioned casually, placing his cards on the table. "And he relishes on supporting young inventors, reminds him of the old days. If you send me samples I'll show them to him and he might help you... What? Don't look at me like that, it's not dirty money!"
"Sorry," Fred said, raising a brow. "It's weird to see you acting like... well, like a good person."
"Unexpected, you mean," George suggested. "You have the looks of a conceited prat."
"Give it time," Mel muttered.
"Shut it," Erick nudged her arm. "Anyway, I better leave and finish my rounds before we arrive... I'll write if anything comes up, Mel."
They waved him goodbye, the twins looked at her with their eyebrows raised.
"What?"
"Nothing," Fred smirked. "Bad influence you are then, aren't you?"
"You've corrupted Slytherin's Prince!"
"Careful Harry," Fred teased. "Don't let him get too comfortable or he'll think he's got a chance!"
"Shut up," Mel interrupted harshly. "Erick doesn't like me that way..."
"Sure thing, and Krum's nothing but a good mate to Hermione," George grinned.
Tumblr media
"Fred — George — wait a moment."
She heard Harry said after leaving the compartment. She froze, curiosity winning over her.
"Take it," He said, and she could hear the distinct sound of coins inside a sack falling onto someone's hands.
"What?" said one of the twins.
"Take it. I don't want it."
"You're mental–"
"No, I'm not. You take it and get inventing. It's for the joke shop."
"He is mental."
"Listen, if you don't take it, I'm throwing it down the drain. I don't want it and I don't need it. But I could do with a few laughs. We could all do with a few laughs. I've got a feeling we're going to need them more than usual before long."
He was giving them the tournament's money. Her heart did that odd flip it hadn't done in days.
"Harry," she kept hearing, "there's got to be a thousand Galleons in here."
"Yeah, think how many Canary Creams that is– Just don't tell your mum where you got it... although she might not be so keen for you to join the Ministry anymore, come to think of it..."
"Harry–"
"Look, take it, or I'll hex you. I know some good ones now. Just do me one favour, okay? Buy Ron some different dress robes and say they're from you."
Harry left the compartment and faced her. There was a moment where she caught a glimpse of something, for a second he looked like he wanted to speak. It disappeared right away though, taking all her hopes with it. He scowled and walked past her without uttering a word.
Tumblr media
"See you, Harry," said Ron, clapping him on the back.
"'Bye, Harry!" said Hermione, and she did something she had never done before, and kissed him on the cheek.
"Harry — thanks," George muttered, while Fred nodded fervently at his side.
Harry winked at them, turned to Uncle Vernon, and followed him silently from the station. There was no point worrying yet, he told himself, as he got into the back of the Dursleys' car.
As Hagrid had said, what would come, would come... and he would have to meet it when it did.
Tumblr media
Mel entered her mother's car in silence, she was still trying to understand how things had gone to the dogs between her and Harry so quickly. There was something pressing on her chest and she wasn't sure she wanted to plug it out.
Her mother spoke for the first time in the day.
"We're not staying at Privet Drive this summer."
"What?" Mel asked absently.
"We'll go there to get your clothes, then we'll leave first thing tomorrow morning to Remus' place," Her mother explained quickly. "I know you want to stay and make sure Harry's fine, but I have things to do and you can't be left alone–"
"Okay."
Her mother stared at her.
"What?"
"I know Harry's going to be safe, surrounded by muggles and all," She tried to keep her voice neutral. "If we're of use somewhere else, I want to go."
Emily knew right away that something was wrong, but whether if she thought it was about Harry or not, she didn't comment on it.
"All right. It'll be a long summer, this one..."
"Yeah," Mel looked out the window as the car left their parking spot.
The girl felt like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders, she'd been dreading to go back and have no one to talk to but Harry. Not that he'd be visiting her house at all, but at least now she had an excuse to stay away from him. To leave him alone, just as he'd requested.
Mel thought, very bitterly, that her biggest dream and worst nightmare had come true at the same time. She made a vow not to wish for anything ever again.
So, i’ve been reading a lot of scenarios and oneshots and headcannons, that I wanted to try and write one myself. This is my first one, so I’m sorry if it’s not good, and my first lenguage is not english so sorry about that too. If somebody reads this, I hope you like it. I did it with an OC.
Cedric Diggory x Fem!OC
- Like the sun -
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff
Words: 580
Cedric was walking through the corridors of Hogwarts, he had just heard about the new challenge of the tournament in the lake and was hoping to find a pair of red heads that were famous for their pranks. He had hope they had something that could be useful for the tournament.
After searching for a long time he finally spot them in the gardens, with a bunch of other Gryffindors talking and laughing. He went closer to speak with them.
-Fred and George Weasley, right?- He asked.
-Those we are- Said George.
-Why you looking for us?- Said Fred.
After explaining to them everything, Fred and George told him that they didn't had any product that could help him. Cedric felt sad, he now had to think of another option.
-Though, we may know someone who can help you.- Said Fred while standing on and walking with Cedric a little further.
-Really? Who?- Asked Cedric with hope.
-Her name is Charlotte Salvatore- Said George, who now was on the side of both.
-She is the one that supplies us with the ingredients we need for our products. It's said that she can get you anything, for the right price- Said Fred.
-Where can I find her?- Cedric was interested, maybe she could help him.
-Hm... On fridays, at the lake- Said George.
-At 7:30 pm- Finished Fred.
-What? That's in less than 30 minutes!-
-You should hurry then- Said both twins at the same time while they started to walk back with their friends.
-Wait! How am I going to know it's her?- Asked Cedric.
-Well... She has the blackest hair you will ever see.- Said Fred.
-And bright golden eyes like the sun- Said George, and with that both walked away.
Cedric ran faster than ever in his life. And after some minutes, he arrived to the lake. At the lake there were a few people, some group of friends talking, among them there were a few girls with black hair, but no golden eyes. He kept looking, and after a couple of minutes he saw a girl standing near the lake, watching something in a tiny bottle, probably something from the lake he thought. He went closer to her. She had a beautiful long and straight black hair. The blackest hair he had ever seen in fact. And without thinking about it, her name left his mouth.
-Charlotte?-
She turned around at the sound of her name. And that's when he saw it, a pair of big eyes, so bright and so golden...
-... Like the sun- He said without realizing.
-Excuse me?- She asked, confused.
-I mean... Hi, um, I'm Cedric. Diggory.-
-Yeah, I know that- She said laughing quietly.
-You do?-
-I mean, probably all Hogwarts was at the great hall when your name was chosen.- she said smiling.
-Oh, yeah, right.- He laughed blushing.
-What can I help you with?- She asked.
-I need your help with something. I can pay.- He said, hoping she wouldn't decline.
-Tell me more about it.- She said while taking her bag from the floor and walking towards him. -And don't worry, pretty boys have a discount.- She winked at him and kept walking.
Cedric was stunned, but after a little moment he came back to normal and ran to walk beside her. He thanked the Weasley's twins for sending him to her, he couldn't stop thinking of ways to see her beautiful golden eyes and black hair again.
Day 6: Luxury + “that was impressive”
Day 6 of @oc-growth-and-development‘s OC-tober, as well as the Fictober20 prompt. This one takes place some time after the final round of the Red Fury, and basically continues from THIS piece I wrote a while ago.
                              ______________________________
Series: Stonebreaker (Original Fiction)
Character(s): Riin & Crosus.
                               ______________________________
When Riin walked into the South Gate tavern near the outskirts of Vetrose, he wasn’t sure what he had been expecting. All around him, bodies were pressed close around tables, hunched over dice, deep in conversation, laughing raucously as they poured ales and wines and harder drinks down their throats.
Nose wrinkling, Riin slipped inside as casually as he could, doing his best not to stand out among the distracted patrons. Which was surprisingly difficult, all things considered. He’d put on quite a show in the arena, and already, eyes were fixing on him, flicking away the moment he looked. Idiot, he chided himself as he sidled between chairs and tables, stopping abruptly as a waitress cut past, a tray of thick brown stew balanced on one hand. He’d spent almost a full ten years in Talvera without revealing what he could truly do. Now, it seemed to be all anyone spoke about. The demand for him to compete in the arena - to engage in a friendly fight with a champion from one of the noble houses - had become incessant. It didn’t seem to matter how many times he refused, a new offer always presented itself the following day, the wording more insistent, the payment higher. Do us this one favour, before you depart for your homeland.
Huffing, Riin managed to pause in an empty space and scanned the room. It didn’t matter how much they offered, he could not be bought. He was a Kyriin; a soldier representing his people, acting on behalf of Kal-Kriyan interests. He was not a spectacle to be gawked at and gambled on.
It was a concept Talverans didn’t seem to understand. Not fully, at least.
A boisterous shout from his right drew Riin’s attention, his gaze snapping across. A drunken man stood, albeit barely, a card in one hand, a tankard in the other. Liquid sloshed dangerously as he ranted at the other players around the table, accusations of cheating and trickery being thrown back and forth among the competitors.
Luckily, seated at a table just past them, was the man Riin was looking for.
Crosus grinned wide, spotting him at the same time, his huge hands wrapped around a flagon. A collection of admirers crowded him on either side, partially obscuring him from view, explaining why Riin hadn’t been able to spot the giant sooner. As he approached, Riin glanced between Crosus and his companions, brow tensing into an uncertain frown. This… wasn’t what he’d been expecting. When he’d received the man’s message, he had assumed they would be speaking alone.
Luckily, Crosus either read the misgiving on Riin’s face or never intended for his sycophants to remain in the first place. Before Riin reached the table, Crosus was already shooing them away with his bear-like hand. “Right then, off with you lot,” he said. When the demand was met with hesitation - even disappointed whines - he tossed a small pouch of coins to one of young men with a good-natured wink. “Enough of that. Tavern’s got plenty of room elsewhere. Go on - get yourselves drunk on a champion’s coin.”
Apparently, all was forgiven. There was a collective whooping - loud and sudden enough to almost startle Riin into taking a step back. Bodies pushed past him, the men and women seeming utterly unaware of his presence as they rushed towards the bar.
“That was… quite a crowd,” Riin said as he finally approached the table. He paused, then gestured to one of the newly vacated seats. “May I?”
“Sure,” the big man drawled, raising a bushy brow. “Didn’t ask you here just to make you stand all evening, black-eyes.”
Riin’s shoulders tensed, but he hurried to mask it by sitting down, resting his forearms on the table. Unfortunately, as he feared, Crosus far from an unobservant man.
“No good?” the northerner asked, and to his credit, he seemed genuine. “Sorry. Heard folk calling you that lately. Figured it was proper.” He snorted, bringing his flagon to his lips. “Should’ve known it was probably an insult. Fucking Talverans…”
Riin had to admit, the man was oddly disarming. And relatable. So much so that he found himself relaxing into a smile, offering a resigned shrug of his own. “It’s not an insult. Just…” He hesitated, but decided it didn’t hurt to share. “I’d hoped no one would find out. That’s all.” He huffed. “I was so close, too. Being called that name just reminds me of my own failure.”
Crosus grunted. “Yeah. That kind of fame’s more trouble than it’s worth, isn’t it?” Raising a hand, he flagged one of the waitstaff, who seemed to have been loitering nearby. “You - yeah lad, you. Bring my friend here some of the good stuff.” He paused, glancing at his own drink. “Another for me, too.” Again, he tossed a small pouch of coins, the scrawny young man catching it between shaking, over-eager palms before scurrying away. Crosus just smirked, leaning in, brown eyes gleaming wickedly. “Turns out, tipping well gets you special treatment.” He leaned back again, laughing, and slapped the table with a thunderous palm. “Who knew, huh?”
Every soul in Talvera, Riin thought, amused. But he just shared in the man’s laughter, enjoying the luxury of being away from the palace. Of not having to second-guess every move he made. Soon, he had a drink in his hand, and before he knew it, half of it had already vanished. “I can see why you would come to a place like this,” Riin remarked loudly, fighting to raise his voice over the din. He glanced around, noticing a large number of watchful eyes flicking back and forth towards their table. “Being champion has made you well-sought.”
“Hey now - three time champion,” Crosus corrected, then chuckled. “The first time wasn’t nearly this rewarding. That said, they’re not all looking at me either. What you did out there?” He huffed, nodding to himself. “That was impressive.”
Riin just stared at his hands, wrapped firmly around his drink. It hadn’t felt impressive. He took another long, deep pull to delay responding. He could remember the moment so clearly, as though it had happened that morning instead of over a turn ago. When he’d seen Crosus land that blow… when Adiran had gone down and couldn’t get up again… he’d just...
“It was panic,” Riin said suddenly. He looked up at Crosus, mouth twisting into a rueful smile. “Not something I would call impressive.”
“Maybe,” the man agreed slowly, then shrugged. “Not sure your princeling would feel the same way, though.” Hesitating, Crosus sat back a little, taking a moment to regard Riin carefully. “I, ah... take it there’s no hard feelings about all of that?”
“I’m here, aren’t I?”
Crosus barked a laugh. “True enough.” Then he jabbed an accusatory finger at him. “But you wouldn’t be the first person I’ve gone drinking with to tried to kill me after. Got my eye on you, Kyriin.”
A smile tugged at Riin’s lips. “I take it those men are no longer with us?”
“Who said anything about men?”
Riin grinned as Crosus bellowed a laugh, raising his flagon in makeshift salute. “Ahh... all the same,” he continued after draining another full mug’s worth of dark ale and setting it down with a thud, “wanted to thank you for what you did. Saving the princeling’s life.”
That was enough to stop Riin mid-drink. He lowered his flagon, eyes fixed questioningly on Crosus. “Thank me? Why?”
What did Crosus have to thank him for? As far as he knew, he’d done nothing to help the man. In truth, he’d barely even acknowledged him, when he’d leapt the barrier and rushed the arena. The most he’d done was shove him aside, sending him sprawling in the sand. In truth, all he remembered clearly from that moment was Adiran, lying there, suffocating inside his crushed plate...
“I know why people watch that tournament. The Red Fury...” Crosus' voice was softer, stirring Riin from his thoughts. The man’s mouth twisted, expression grim. “Everyone in that crowd wanted blood. Especially the ones who would never admit it. Must make them feel better about themselves, to watch good men die before their time. Your princeling…” Sighing, Crosus reached up, running a hand down his face. “I’ve killed plenty, Kyriin. Right bastards, most of them. But taking that young man’s life for a crowd? For sport?” Grunting, he just shook his head. “No. I have enough people looking at me like I’m no better than a wild beast. Don’t want to start believing it myself. I never meant for it to go that far.”
Stunned into silence for a moment, all Riin could do was look at the man - really look at him. The boisterous personality, the bellowing laugh, the tangle of dark hair that framed his face. For all of his strength, deep down, Crosus doubted himself. Who he was. What people thought of him. What he thought of himself.
It was something Riin understood all too well.
“Adir---” Riin caught himself quickly, “Prince Adiran knew the risks, Crosus. A fight is a fight, and it would be foolish to treat it as anything else. Even if I had not been able to…” Shei-tar’s gaze, the thought alone was enough to turn his stomach. He cleared his throat roughly. “The prince does not resent you. In truth, you might be one of the few men he actually respects.” He caught Crosus’ gaze. Held it. “As for me... I saw you by his side.”
Another memory, clear as day, flashed behind Riin’s eyes. It was of Crosus, crouched beside Adiran, a lone shape in the middle of the arena. It was of the crowd, roaring their shock, their approval, their delight at the blow that had flung Adiran, bodily, over and past the red-marked ring. It was of Crosus’ large hands, frantic but ineffective, tugging at the suffocating prince’s ruined plate...
Crosus just raised his brows. “You did, did you?” When Riin met his gaze and nodded, he gave another low grunt. “Huh. You know, most folk thought I was trying to finish him off. Already had three offer to buy me a drink for it.”
For whatever reason, that shocked Riin. “What?” He rose half-way out of his chair, heat and anger rising like a storm beneath his skin. “Who? Show me.”
“Easy,” Crosus said, voice concerned. He rested a large hand on Riin’s shoulder, urging him to sit down. “Relax. It’s nothing personal against your prince. Just their small way of spitting in the eye of that shit they call a King.”
Somehow, that didn’t comfort Riin. The indignation he felt on Adiran’s behalf rose like bile up the back of his throat. But at the same time... he supposed he could empathise. He’d like nothing more than to spit in the King’s eye himself, if he knew no one else would have to suffer for it.
Slowly, he complied with Crosus’ request, sitting back down, catching his flagon as the northerner slid it back towards him. He took another drink, still bitter. Still sure he hated the idea of people wishing harm on Adiran just to hurt his father. “The prince,” was all he said after a moment, feeling strangely tired. Simply correcting Crosus was easier than acknowledging the rest of what he’d just said. “Adiran is the prince, not my prince.”
If he’d bothered to look up from his ale, Riin would have seen Crosus raise a dark brow at that. Would have seen the way he smirked slightly and shook his head. Instead, the only thing Riin caught was his final, amiable shrug.
“As you say,” Crosus replied. Then he sent for another round.
Full Moon Dance
Word Count: 3300+ (chapter 2, final) (chapter 1) [AO3 link]
Genre: Humor/Romance
Characters: Raven Branwen, Summer Rose, Qrow Branwen, Taiyang Xiao Long, Ozpin, Kite Branwen (OC, mentioned)
Pairing: Raven Branwen/Summer Rose
Summary: Misunderstanding what "taking a partner" is supposed to entail, Raven asks Summer to the Vytal Festival Dance.She did not expect that to become a gateway to facing her changing feelings for her teammates and her place at Beacon.
~0~
“I don’t want to hide. I want to slow dance with you again. I want to dance with you forever.”
Sarah Black
~0~
At this point, Raven couldn’t remember what it was like to feel relaxed at all. She should have known that the last two weeks had been too good to be true.
With the limited funds that they had, Summer had led her on a search through Vale’s wide selection of clothing stores to find the perfect party outfits. While she had been exhausted by the end of it, she had to admit that she was still surprised both by how comfortable her dress was and how Summer had managed to pick something for her that matched her style so perfectly.
Still, it was Summer’s choice that she hadn’t been able to take her eyes off of: a soft and shimmery silver dress, that matched her eyes and fell just below her knees. Even more than that, she enjoyed the sight of her partner admiring it on herself in the mirror. She nodded along as if she’d never heard it before every time Summer remarked, “You know, I don’t think I’ve ever worn anything this pretty in my life.”
None of them had volunteered to manage any part of the dance, which was a plus in Raven’s book, so all the four of them had to do was look forward to it. She had to admit, Tai didn’t look half bad in his deep gold suit, though it had originally belonged to his father and was a little too big for him. Watching Qrow nearly choke himself on his new tie — part of an outfit similar to her own, though the black of his suit was softer and its red accents brighter — more than once while getting accustomed to it was pretty funny.
When they arrived, Tai’s arm thrown over Qrow’s shoulders and Summer gripping Raven’s hand, the hall was already crowded and noisy, the party in full swing. Whoever had decorated had gone a little overboard on what she could only assume was a starry sky theme: hundreds of holographic paper stars hung on strings all around the room, reflecting the multicolored lights roving everywhere. It did cast a nice rainbow onto Summer’s dress when it wasn’t momentarily blinding her.
As for the music, she was pretty sure she’d already heard most of these songs in the department store changing rooms, but everybody seemed to be liking them well enough. The dance floor was getting fairly packed, but Raven could still see some spots that would accommodate her and Summer. As such, she had expected that to be their first stop.
Instead, while Tai was coaxing Qrow and his sudden case of cold feet out of the corner, she allowed Summer to lead her as she flitted around the room, chatting with and introducing her partner to all the students she’d met from the other Academies. She was taking the whole fostering friendships theme of the Vytal Festival very seriously, and while Raven was only marginally friendly with any of them, she didn’t mind both scoping out their tournament competition and watching Summer be so damn personable.
After a short while, she’d been left to take a break at a table as Summer went to grab them both snacks and fruit punch, and hadn’t minded that either. There were still plenty of people on the dance floor, momentarily sacrificing dignity in the name of fun, that she was content to watch in the meantime. Even her brother was allowing his partner to tug him closer to the spotlight, on the sidelines watching Tai demonstrate the moves of an energetic dance she didn’t recognize.
Maybe this wasn’t the fanciest get-together in the world, but it was nice, legitimately nice. Much better than any night spent by a bonfire in the middle of Anima, drinking moonshine in the dirt with the children of people Kite wanted to make nice with, that was for sure.
And she was going to strangle whatever little spanner in the works had cut it short by spiking the punch and not informing Summer.
The timing had been all wrong, that’s what it was. If she or Qrow had tasted it first, they not only would have noticed the sharp bitter streak, but would have been able to stay on their feet after drinking it. The stuff Kite brewed in the tub behind her tent was stronger than whatever had been dumped in the punch bowl...but only slightly. Tai would have been rocked pretty hard, but she felt sure he wouldn’t have been put out of commission by it, especially if he had only taken one gulp.
But poor Summer was not only a hundred pounds soaking wet, but was so fond of sweet things that she’d chugged an entire solo cup of punch before realizing something wasn’t quite right about its contents.
When Summer had come loping up to her empty-handed and grabbed her arm, Raven had assumed for a second that she had forgone refreshments and was suddenly very excited to finally take her to dance. Instead...
“Heyyyy, Raven? Where’re we going?” Summer nearly tripped over her own feet, thumping against Raven’s shoulder. “And where’re my shoes?”
Raven, holding Summer’s wrist in one hand and her heels in the other, grit her teeth as she peered around the corner of the second-year dorm building. “Don’t worry about it, and back to our room.”
“But wha...what about the boys?”
“Don’t worry. They’ll be fine until we get back.”
Once they had all realized the situation, there had been a brief, fiercely whispered discussion about who should be the one to stealth-mission Summer safely back to their dorm room before their chaperoning professors noticed. Qrow and his Semblance had been put out of the running immediately; they didn’t need any more bad luck befalling them on the way. Tai had first offered to go with them, to negate Qrow’s Semblance, and then alone, as he was the one that most of the faculty liked best.
However, as it was Raven’s arm that Summer was clinging to so steadfastly, and refusing to be detached from, it was quickly decided that it had to be her. So while Tai and Qrow distracted the chaperoning professors, off she had gone, her slurring and swaying partner in tow.
“Oh. Will we be back soon? An’ hey, are you spinning? I’m spinning. Are we gonna dance soon? You can spin me around too if you want, I’d loooove that!”
She should have known Summer would be a chatty drunk, as well as the lightest lightweight she had ever met.
“Shh, relax,” Raven muttered as she darted them across the small lawn and up to the front door. Locked. Of course. And their keys were back at the dance hall.
She pulled a bobby pin from her hair (thankfully, Summer didn’t notice the partial spoiling of all her taming and styling efforts) and went quickly to work on the lock; Kite preferred brute forcing her way into places, but she had bothered to teach her twins at least some finesse.
“Just...be quiet for a minute, okay?”
“Surrrrrre...”
In the dark, it was harder to pick the lock, but not much harder. Ignoring Summer swinging her arm back and forth, Raven eased the door open a crack and peeked in. The ground floor seemed as devoid of professors, security, or other students as the grounds themselves.
“Perfect.” Raven pulled her inside and started for the stairs with perhaps more vigor than her partner was ready for. “Let’s go!”
“Ohh-ohhh!”
“Shh!”
The stairs themselves were...trickier. Why, oh, why did they have to live on the third floor?
“Come on, Summer!” She wasn’t sure how to hiss at someone encouragingly, but she gave it her best try. “You can do it. You do it every day!”
Well, it’s not every day!” Summer whined. She might as well have still been wearing her heels, the way she was stumbling around on the steps. “They’re way too long!”
“They’re not—”
She broke off in a frustrated huff, and spent the next several minutes attempting to coax Summer up the stairs, and thinking that it would probably be easier to teach a puppy how stairs worked. Around the middle, she glanced up at the second flight of stairs behind them, and the third flight behind that, and finally decided—
“Fuck it!”
Summer’s eyes went huge as Raven grabbed her and hauled her upward, maneuvering her onto her back. “Raven, my heeeeead! I don’t wanna spin anymore!”
“Your head is fine, relax. Keep your arms around my neck, and you can rest it on my shoulder.” Raven refrained from wincing when Summer obeyed a little too quickly, and jammed her bony chin directly where Raven’s neck met her shoulder. “Just don’t throw up on me.”
Summer scoffed, and Raven couldn’t be sure whether she was nuzzling her neck on purpose. “‘Course I won’t. I’m not drunk.”
“Of course not, my mistake,” said Raven, rolling her eyes, as she boosted Summer up into full piggyback position. “Now hold on.”
At least there was one silver lining to Summer being so small: Raven’s footsteps didn’t fall any heavier on the hard tile steps, even while carrying her. There was no one in the stairwell, and with most everyone at the dance, she was really hoping there wouldn’t be anyone there when they reached their floor.
(Of course, she doubted whether there was any Beacon student who would snitch on her, not if they knew what was good for them, but better safe than sorry.)
As such, the only other sound in the place was Summer’s perpetual chattering, now directly in her ear.
“Gods, you’re so warm,” she was saying now, rubbing her face against her hair. Yeah, definitely on purpose. “And your hair is so soft. ‘S like lying on a blanket instead of a hay bale. I did ssssuch a good job...”
“Yes, you did,” replied Raven flatly. Having reached their stop on the stairwell, she dropped Summer’s shoes and shifted her partner slightly so she could have a free hand to open the door. “Very good.”
Luckily, Summer didn’t seem to mind, or even notice, being jostled. “Yeah. You’re the best. You’re suuuuuch a good partner. I’m so glad I didn’t actually break your spine when I landed on you. You remember that?”
Raven snorted. She doubted she could ever forget their first encounter in the Emerald Forest. “Sure I do. My back still hurts when it rains.”
Summer scrunched up her face and made a scandalized noise, rubbing her face against Raven’s like a cat. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to. I’d never hurt you on purpose.”
“Yeah, I know,” muttered Raven, edging them through the door and creeping onto the floor. Their dorm wasn’t in this hall, but it wasn’t too far off either. “Come on, home stretch.”
“I’ll never let anything hurt you, either,” Summer went on, and Raven could feel her smiling against her neck. “Anything tries to, I’ll make it explode.”
“Yep. Definitely.”
“It’s my secret, you know? I’ll tell you all about it one day. But I don’t want it to change anything.”
“It won’t, I’m sure,” Raven said, nodding along to her rambling, while her eyes flicked around for any signs that they weren’t alone.
“Ahhh...actually, might change a lot. Y-You know something? I wish I didn’t even have them.”
Raven didn’t stop walking, but there was a heavy enough undertone of distress in Summer’s voice that she turned to look at her. “Have what?”
Summer stared back at her, silver eyes huge and blinking back tears. “I’m sorry. I just didn’t know if I should tell you.”
Raven blinked back. Well. Hadn’t she just been thinking about this? Here was the perfect chance to set that precedent, of not digging too deeply into secrets that any teammates might be hiding.
“...That’s okay, Summer. I don’t mind that you didn’t say anything, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.”
“But I—”
“Pardon me?”
Raven jumped badly, and spun around so fast it was a wonder that Summer wasn’t flung clean off her back. (A small part of her almost wanted to do it anyway and get rid of the evidence.)
If it were anyone else, she would have been set to snarl and threaten. But she would recognize that soft, measured tone anywhere, so what blurted out of her mouth was a cracked, “Hello?!”
Ozpin tilted his head slightly, regarding the two of them with curiosity and more than a little concern. “Miss Branwen, Miss Rose. Are you two all right?”
Less than ten years her senior, the headmaster’s youth and mild demeanor put many people at ease. It just made Raven want to put up her guard around him even more, especially now that it was time to lie her ass off to him.
“Yes, Summer just twisted her ankle while we were dancing, so I figured I’d take her back to our room to rest.”
The confusion on Summer’s face was almost comical. “We were dancing?”
Raven fought a fleeting but powerful urge to headbutt her. “Tai and Qrow let the other professors know. We’ll be fine, thanks.”
“Right now the other professors are dealing with several other...incapacitated students at the moment,” Ozpin informed her, leaning on his cane, and Raven couldn’t decide whether his expression was genuinely or deceptively friendly. “Would you know anything about that?”
“No,” said Raven, perhaps a little too quickly, trying her best to look puzzled and innocent. As if she wasn’t a dogged but terrible liar. As if Summer’s Aura wouldn’t have immediately healed a sprain. As if the acrid scents of fruit punch and cheap spirits weren’t radiating off of her.
As if Summer herself wasn’t being entirely unhelpful. “Ohhh! Hi, Professor!”
Ozpin smiled. “Hello, Miss Rose. How are you feeling?”
“Much better!” Summer knocked her head affectionately against Raven’s, her arms twisting tighter around her neck. “Raven’s the best partner ever!”
“I see that. Well, if you’re uncomfortable walking, then it’s no wonder you left these behind.” He handed Raven the pair of Summer’s heels that she had forgotten in the stairwell. “Get some rest, I expect to see you both in full fighting form on Monday.”
“Y-Yes, of course,” was all Raven could say through her shock. They’d just been caught red-handed breaking at least five school rules at once, and he was just...letting them? “Uh...thanks?”
Summer waved vigorously at his retreating back, nearly falling off of Raven. “Bye, Professor!”
“Ugh, Summer, stay still!”
The last leg of their trip was short and thankfully uneventful. Raven didn’t bother turning on the light; she just heaved a sigh of relief when the door closed and she and Summer finally collapsed onto her bed. She kicked off her own shoes and made sure that Summer was lying properly on her side: at least there was one advantage to helping Kite deal with completely soused tribe members after successful raids.
“Hey. How do you feel?”
Summer mumbled contentedly, nuzzling the pillow. “A little spinny.”
“You think you might get sick?”
“Nope. You make me feel better.” Summer’s eyes were gleaming, but their lids were drooping. “I think I’m gonna sleep. I’m sorry, but...I don’t think I can dance with you after all.”
“That’s okay. I don’t mind just lying around here with you.”
“Suuure...y-you really are the best...part...”
Before she could manage the second syllable, she had fallen sound asleep. Raven didn’t think being touched would wake her up, but still she undid her braids as gently as possible. She had no interest in returning to the dance without her partner, and save for sending a quick text to Qrow confirming that they were back in their room, she didn’t think any more about it.
The best thing to do would be to take Summer’s example and call it a night. But even after taking her hair down and changing into an old shirt and shorts, and lying down next to Summer — had to keep an eye on her until she’d slept it off, after all — she felt wide awake, and couldn’t seem to look away from her face.
(It wasn’t even that late, but it looked like it was still going to be one of Those Nights where her thoughts got the better of her.)
Summer looked peaceful. She looked...beautiful, there was no other word for it. And she trusted Raven, in a way that Raven hadn’t thought possible after less than two years of knowing somebody. It wasn’t a new realization, but it was one that made her feel strange and unsteady inside if she gave it enough time to set in.
She didn’t know for sure what she was supposed to call such a feeling, though the word vulnerable floated menacingly through her head. And speaking of unwelcome guests there...
She’s going to be easy prey when you’re finally done with this place, purred Kite’s smug voice in her thoughts. When she looks at you, sometimes you think she can see right through you, and maybe she can, but she won’t raise her blade to you until it’s too late for her.
Raven reached out and gently brushed a loose lock of Summer’s hair out of her face. She was a loyal warrior; she listened to her leader without contradiction...even if she felt no compulsion at all to obey.
Yeah, you see? She’s already baring her throat to you. She’s throwing her life away just like every other dumb kid in that place. Might as well be to you.
Even so, for once in her life, she wished that she would just be quiet. That everything would just stop, if only for a little while, so she could feel right staying where she was. It was comfortable here, it was soft and warm here. Summer was here. It felt as natural as her own heartbeat for Summer to be here.
She realized that she didn’t know what she would do if her partner were gone, that she emphatically did not want to leave her side. The realization did not come sweetly, or stunningly; it was a quick, icy shock to her system, like the sudden awareness that you were not alone in the forest, and something was about to pounce on your back.
Whatever that something might be, now wasn’t the time to think too deeply about it, Raven decided. Trying to focus on the better, simpler things, it would be easier to doze off. She only registered that she had done exactly that when the door opened again, her eyes flew open, and the room was even darker around them.
“Holy shit,” said Qrow’s silhouette in the doorway. “I didn’t think it’d be that much like it is at home!”
“Shut up,” Raven hissed, indicating Summer. “She’s sleeping!”
“Sorry, sorry...” both boys mumbled as they slipped inside, carrying trace scents of alcohol and sweat with them. She could hear more tired footsteps in the hall outside as Qrow stage-whispered, “But yeah, you guys got out at just the right time. I think like ten people got suspended.”
Tai made a piteous noise as he poked at an unfortunately large stain on the suit jacket slung over his arm. Raven couldn’t see it terribly well from here, but she figured ‘somebody else’s drying vomit’ wasn’t too bad a guess. “My dad’s suit...”
“Don’t worry about it,” Raven sighed. “We’ll teach you how to wash it out in the morning. Did you guys have fun anyway?”
Tai and Qrow paused in removing their respective hair tie and regular tie to glance at each other, and after a second, smiled. “Yeah, I guess so.”
“Good. So go to sleep and tell us about it in the morning.”
Raven started to sink back onto the bed, and realized that Summer had snuggled closer to her in their sleep. Carefully and with some awkwardness, she laid back down beside her, so close now that she could feel her body heat.
Qrow smirked. “How have you two been doing?”
“Fine.” She glared at him over Summer’s head. “Just fine. Go to bed.”
“Sure, sure...”
Before long, Qrow was face down on his pillow and Tai was snoring peacefully. Raven was the last to fall back asleep, with Summer’s soft breathing in her ears, and their hands brushing together on top of the covers.
~0~
The next morning she was the last to wake up as well, and did so to the powerful aroma of bacon and eggs. Summer presented the dish to her with a noticeable blush and a sheepish smile on her face.
“You know, you didn’t have to do this,” said Raven through a crunchy strip of bacon, sitting cross-legged on her bed. “I know you must be hungover as hell.”
Summer rubbed the back of her head. “I drank a lot of water, so I’m feeling a bit better. And everything that happened last night is really fuzzy, but I knew I had to thank you for it.”
“Mm-hm. And have you learned your lesson about making sure you know what you’re actually drinking?”
“Absolutely.” She held her hand up in a ‘scout’s honor’ pose. “I swear, I will never be betrayed by fruit punch again.”
Raven nodded solemnly. “Excellent.”
Classes didn’t start back up again until Monday, so today was their day of rest. The majority of it was spent lazing around their room, filling each other in on what they’d done last night. (Qrow and Tai high-fived so exuberantly at Raven’s recount that anyone would think they had been the ones that Ozpin had let get away clean.)
Raven had no reason to expect that anything more would happen this weekend. But then, just as it was starting to get dark, Summer took her hand and led her up to the roof of the building.
“Uh, Summer? Not that I doubt your good intentions, but what are we doing here?”
Summer turned around with a grin, keeping a gentle but firm grip on her hand. The rising moon behind her head was golden and full. “I did promise you a dance, didn’t I? I thought I’d fulfill that promise the best way I know how.”
“...Under the moonlight, is that right?” Raven squeezed her hand, unable to keep a small smile of her own off her face. “And I suppose you’ll be taking the lead?”
“I am your leader, after all. Now let me see...Dad always used to start like...”
Summer adjusted her feet, and Raven did her best to match her. Her right hand released Raven’s and rested on her left shoulder, and her left hand quickly replaced it.
“Put your left hand on my shoulder. Just like that. We’ve got to keep our elbows up like...yeah, perfect. If I’m remembering it right, there’s only six steps to this, so it should be easy. It’s...”
She stepped forward, and Raven stepped back. She stepped to the side, and Raven followed. Their movements were awkward, unsteady, certainly unpracticed. But they were managing perfectly well, as used to one another as they were, and that was a win in Raven’s book.
Summer’s grin broadened when they completed a full rotation without stepping on each other’s feet. “See, we did it!”
“All right, so we’re ready for the advanced steps now, right?”
Summer giggled, and started to guide her into another turn, her cloak swishing minutely with the movement. “Let’s just stick with this for now.”
Raven was perfectly content with this. Maybe it had been for the best that their time at the dance had been interrupted. The distant chirping of night birds, the soft click of their boots on the rooftop, the sound of Summer’s voice instructing and encouraging her...she couldn’t think of any music or any place that she would like better.
Without thinking, she tightened her grip, and Summer, as if reading her mind, pulled her in closer. Her partner filled the entirety of her vision, and in her face, her hair, the moonlight glowed.
I prepared to set what felt like the millionth ball of the day, but I didn’t feel tired. I didn’t feel anything. I could have gone on for however long the team needed me to.
They were racing to the net. Their footsteps sent them thundering towards me. The blockers stared me down. Their gaze sent blazing fires my way.
Just play as you’ve always done.
In a split second, Mamoru-kun slammed the ball down. The sound of the volleyball bouncing off the floor resonated around me. A whistle blew. The practice game was over.
“How was that, Akaashi-san?” the young middle blocker asked me.
I nodded my head. “We won, Mamoru-kun,” I said. “You played well.”
Mamoru-kun spent the majority of last year watching Fukurodani Gakuen’s team while keeping up with his own. While watching the Spring Tournament, he had taken special interest in a young middle blocker from Miyagi. I spent the past couple months explaining to him why we couldn’t even try to imitate Kageyama-kun and Hinata-kun’s quick attack.
He’s a strong player and he’s only a first year.
I turned away and followed the rest of the team towards the huddle. Coach Yamiji said a few words. I said a few words. Then we were off to the showers.
Sometimes it felt like the same thing every day. If it weren’t for the variations in my school assignments, I wouldn’t know what day it was. Even then, some of the assignments were starting to become repetitive.
I quickly changed back into my uniform, opting to wear my team jacket instead of my blazer. The grey fabric was much too thick for the summer heat, but I hated going anywhere with my arms bare to the world. I said my good-byes and headed out.
It was as if my feet were possessed, but I walked back to the school’s main courtyard. That was where I first ran into her.
Actually, it was where she first ran into me.
Most days, practice would go on long enough to make me miss her, but I was lucky today. A small figure was folded against a particular peach tree that stood on the side of the courtyard. Even from here, I could tell that she was lost within the pages of her book.
I wasn’t surprised that I didn’t know her. Fukurodani Gakuen was a big school. It wasn’t as if I spent the last two years socializing with my classmates when I had Bokuto-san begging me to toss to him every chance he got. It wasn’t as if I wanted to socialize with my classmates after what happened in middle school.
But I had been looking for her, trying to catch her for the past week or so. She always managed to run away before I got the chance to talk to her. But she was a girl of routine, always coming back to the same peach tree during the free time sprinkled throughout the day.
“Hi,” I said when I reached her.
Could you sound any more lame?
She flinched, obviously not expecting anyone to approach her. Her soft brown eyes drifted up to look at me, hardening when they met mine.
“Akaashi-san,” she said. A short, cold greeting.
What does she have against me?
“What book are you reading today?” I asked. “I’m always looking for something new to read, but every summary I read never seems to pique my interest.”
She turned to the cover, as if she didn’t know what book she was reading.
“It’s an American book that was translated,” she replied. “I don’t know if you’d be very interested in teen romance novels.”
I dropped my bag down beside hers, taking a seat against the tree. “There’s a first for everything,” I said.
She looked at me quizzically. “Do you want me to explain the plot to you?” she asked.
I could hear the hesitance in her voice.
Did I want her to explain the plot to me? What am I doing here?
I felt my brain start to clog up, words getting stuck in my throat.
Why am I here? Why did I sit down? Why didn’t I go home? What is it that makes me want to spend time with her? Why do I keep looking out for her?
“Akaashi-san?” her voice freed me from the train wreck in my brain.
Ha, brain wreck.
“Are you alright? You seem like you have a thousand questions,” she said.
I nodded my head. “Is it okay if I asked you a couple of them?” I asked her.
What’s your name? What’s your favorite color? Did you like that book you were reading the other day? Have you read others by that author? Did you read it for class or just to pass the time? What do you like to do to pass the time? Why are you at school so late?
“You’ve already asked me a couple questions, Akaashi-san,” she pointed out.
I felt my face heat up. Instead of making eye contact with her, I watched as she gently marked the page she was reading and set the book aside.
She made brown feel like such an intense color.
“You can ask me more,” she spoke again, this time barely above a whisper. “But there’s no guarantee I’ll want to answer.”
I nodded.
“Why do you always stay this late?” I asked, looking back up at her.
I should have asked for her name. What kind of idiot starts a conversation with a nameless girl? That’s the first thing you’re supposed to ask someone when you start talking to them.
She tilted her head to the side, hair falling onto her shoulder like leaves from a tree rustling in the wind. In the evening sun, she looked serene.
She was probably enjoying herself until you invited yourself to sit under her tree. Stupid, Keiji.
“I don’t know,” she said after some thought. “I used to wait for my friends to get out of club, but they get out too late now.”
I raised an eyebrow. She looked away, shaking her head.
“They’re going to be professionals, and I gave up before I could get started,” she whispered.
I wanted to press further, but I had a feeling she wasn’t going to answer.
“Have you ever considered writing?”
Woah, Keiji. Where did that come from? You see a girl read one book, and you think she’s into the same profession as you?
I wanted to slap my conscience. He was being an asshole, and he knew it.
She looked at me with her eyebrows furrowed. “What gave you the idea that I’m even the slightest bit talented with words?” she asked.
“I’m not sure,” I answered honestly. “Sometimes words just come out before I can even stop them. I’m sorry if that question made you uncomfortable.”
Her lips curved into a smile. “It’s alright, Akaashi-san,” she assured me. “Most people our age don’t read books for pleasure anymore. It wasn’t an unfound assumption.”
“I want to be an editor someday,” I blurted.
I wasn’t loud. I didn’t interrupt her. I’ve just never told anyone that before. I don’t know what made me tell her.
“Maybe you can be my editor,” she said with a smirk.
“I thought you said––”
She shook her head. “I said I wasn’t talented with words,” she said pointedly. “I want to be a manga writer, but I don’t think my art is that good either.”
I tilted my head.
How do I tell her that her art is beautiful even if I’ve never seen it before?
“If you always stay this late, do you think you could help us out in the gym?” I asked, changing the topic.
The future wasn’t too far away, but I didn’t want to think about it now. I couldn’t think about it now.
“You really want to spend more time with me,” she said with a smirk. “First you were inviting me to a bakery, and now you want me to basically be your team manager.”
I fiddled with my hands, scratching the fingers on my left hand. “Well, I wanted to apologize for bumping into you,” I said. “Sarukui-san told me I need to be more friendly. He said I don’t smile when I talk to people who aren’t on the volleyball team.”
She laughed, hiding it behind her hand. “Isn’t Sarukui-san the same guy that did a whole salsa dance with a mannequin for the variety show last year?” she asked, amusement glimmering in her eyes.
“He said he couldn’t find a dance partner that was spicy enough for his moves, so he opted for the mannequin,” I recounted.
She snorted, probably recalling the image of the volleyball player swaying his hips around the life-sized doll. “Where did he even get the doll?” she asked.
It was probably a rhetorical question. She probably figured that Sarukui-san bought it online somewhere. It would have been simpler to let her assume that then tell her part of the story.
“I don’t know if I should tell you the full story, but it does involve a close call with the cops and an emergency surgery to get a screw out of Bokuto-san’s leg,” I said. My body still remembered the exhaustion from that night.
She looked at me with a million questions. I simply shook my head, not wanting to think about that night at the moment.
“Akaashi-san?” she asked. “Do you even know what my name is?”
My eyes widened in shock. My mouth fell open.
Damn, she caught me.
“I just thought you didn’t because you always say someone’s name when you talk to them or about them, but you haven’t addressed me by my name,” she noted. “I figured you wouldn’t know my name. I don’t shine as bright as the other stars at Fukurodani.”
She checked her watch and began to gather her things. Standing up, she looked down on me. Even when we were sitting and I was towering over her, I felt like she had more power than I did.
I picked at my nails. I stared at her shoes.
“I really messed up the order of things, huh?” I said with a smile, looking back up at her.
She glowed in the evening light. A small smile graced her lips, but there was something in her eyes that told me she wasn’t as innocent as she appeared.
“My name’s Sasaki,” she said with a giggle. “Sasaki Momoko.”
It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the joke.
That’s why she sits under a peach tree every day, I realized, laughing out loud. Man, she really makes you take a step back into reality.
a/n: exposition but make it Akaashi; this took me like two or three weeks to write I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to introduce Akaashi; the whole manga writer/Sarukui thing came absolutely out of no where like I was writing it but I was surprised too
fun fact(s):
**Sasaki Momoko means peach tree according to the Japanese naming websites I used
**I think about stageplay Sarukui and his hips a lot like it’s unhealthy
GX Month 2020
SUper late and I’m too lazy to do anything (as always), but this seems like fun to think about. So let’s go!
Day 1 (August 31): “Game on!” (It’s Judai/Jaden Yuki’s birthday today! Let’s celebrate!):
Jaden is a great protagonist. I love dumb but OP main characters, especially when they got lucky-go attitudes.
Day 2 (September 1): “Red, Yellow, Blue!” (Ah, the tier system at Duel Academy. Which dorm is your favorite?):
I’m attached to Slifer Red, lol. They got a cat for mascot, what more do I need? Also, they serve tempura for lunch.
Day 3 (September 2): “Rule the School” (These kids might be saving the world, but they’re still students with homework to do and exams to pass. Celebrate the school life today!):
Don’t know what to put here, but I was a terrible student because I didn’t study or do things in a timely manner. Do better than me, kids.
Day 4 (September 3): “Sometimes I Can’t Believe We’re Related” (10Join! Today is all about the iconic brother-sister pair, Fubuki Tenjoin/Atticus Rhodes and Asuka Tenjoin/Alexis Rhodes!):
I love this sibling pair! ^^ Alexis is really cool, and Atticus is so far out of the left field. I really thought Atticus was going to be cool like his sister, or edgy like Zane, but nah, this guy is, like, I just want to support my sister and play this ukulele. They make such a contrasting pair, so it adds to the humor.
Day 5 (September 4): “Pass The Salt” (No story is perfect. So what is something you wish you could have seen in the story of GX?)
I can’t think of anything.
Day 6 (September 5): “Going Down With The Ships!” (You know what I’m talking about. We all have an armada parked in the bay, but there’s that one ship, that one ship, that you would die for. Today is all about OTPs and OT3s!)
I really like Rivalshipping. I don’t really have that many ships for GX. 5D’s and Zexal are more of my jam.
Day 7 (September 6): “Bring the THUNDER” (Ichi! Juu! Hyaku! Sen! Chazz it up! Today the world does in fact revolve around Jun Manjoume/Chazz Princeton.)
HANDS DOWN, one of my two top choices for favorite rival. (Jack’s the other.) My favorite things about Chazz are his name, his energy, and that fact that he’s a baby brother. He’s so cute! ^^ I just want to make fun of him.
Day 8 (September 7): “The Power of Friendship!” (Favorite dynamic duo, two characters you think would have been friends if only they met, how friendship saves the day, or maybe a friendship fail. It’s up to you!):
Chazz and Pharoah, lol. I need Chazz to hold that cat and pet it. Why didn’t he? :’(
Day 9 (September 8): “Born to be Bad” (Inherently evil, brainwashed, misguided, or misunderstood. GX boots a colorful cast of villainy. Who’s your favorite bad guy?):
I haven’t finished season 4 yet, but Nightshroud.
Day 10 (September 9): Free Day/Introductions (Tell us about yourself and your GX experience! Your favorites, why you like it, how you got into it. Or leave the day open to do whatever you want!):
I’m known as kappa. I got Hulu, and Hulu has almost all the YGO series excluding VRAINS and SEVENS which is fine because I also have Crunchyroll and the internet, lol; so, I watched all the YGO series simultaneously, skipping back and forth between series. I did not watch any of them in order. GX was number 5 or 6, but it’s the one series I’m putting off.
Day 11 (September 10): “Cyber Legacy” (No Yu-Gi-Oh! show is complete without a pair of brothers. Today’s stars are Sho Marufuji/Syrus Truesdale and Ryo Marufuji/Zane Truesdale!):
I love these guys! It was great to see them grow and become their own people. ^^ They had, I think, the most realistic relationship.
Day 12 (September 11): “But What If We Had Bikes?” (That’s right! It’s time for the GX crew to rev it up on their very own D-Wheels/Duel Runners!):
I CANNOT DRAW. SORRY LMAO
Day 13 (September 12): “And You Are…?” (Got a favorite OC? Or one you’ve been hiding in the closet? Introduce them to the world today!):
I only have a Rivalshipping OC baby. Her name is Mira Princeton, and she has Jaden’s brown hair and Chazz’s dark eyes (with a bit of a golden glow). Since both her parents can see spirits, it’d make sense that she can too, lol. Her companion is Yata-Garasu, a rare card that her mama won at a tournament. She likes pink and flowers. She is very close to Aster and calls him Uncle Aster. She’s four, and most of her life, she knows her dad as the “Slifer slacker but a really good duelist.”
I love her. :)
Day 14 (September 13): “The Perfect Formula” (He duels with the power math and science! Today, show the world that you still remember Daichi/Bastion Misawa!)
Bastion is a funny character. “Everything is science. I’m going to disappear for several months. Don’t forget to forget me,” I think.
Day 15 (September 14): “Insert pun here” (It’s meme day! Recreate your favorites! Make some shitposts! Be the troll you’ve always wanted to be!):
Bastion: SIr, I’m afraid your DNA is backwards.
Jaden: AND?
Day 16 (September 15): “Creation and Destruction” (The Gentle Darkness and the Light of Destruction. The eternal struggle. And also the Darkness that tried to drown the world. Huh. Feels a little unbalanced.):
It’s pretty cool to have darkness and light reverse, and then watch as darkness conflict with itself, lmao. The Light of Destruction would be a chaotic good, and the Gentle Darkness as chaotic neutral. (Don't quote me on that, I don’t do personality quizzes.)
Day 17 (September 16): “Putting the D in Destiny” (Pro duelist by day and crime fighting vigilante by night. Today is Edo/Aster Phoenix’s day!):
He’s great. I like him. He’s the precursor to Declan Akaba’s D/D/D archetype. Maybe not. Can you believe that he actually said “Shmaden Shmuki on national TV???? LMAO
Day 18 (September 17): “In Another Life” (It’s AU day!):
Currently trying to write a fantasy-ish AU in which Jun marries the Supreme King. Trust me, I have no idea what I’m doing.
Day 19 (September 18): “I Was Here Too!” (GX has a vast array of unique characters, some of which we only saw once. Pick a “one shot” character and show them off!):
I really like Princess Rose. She was pretty, and her spirit monsters care for her. I appreciate that.
Day 20 (September 19): Free Day 2/Support Fellow Creators (Show some love for your favorite creators, or leave the day free for whatever you please!):
Literally @ everyone whose work(s) and/or post(s) I’ve reblogged. Keep up the good work!
Day 21 ( September 20): “Prehistoric Predators” (The dino duelist with a fossil in his leg. Today is all about Kenzan Tyranno/Tyranno Hassleberry!):
Dino DNA is so funny; I’m sorry, Hassleberry, but I don’t like dinosaurs. At least you were cute as one.
Day 22 (September 21): “Stop Blowing Holes In My Ship!” (Some ships are popular and some are…not. Today is all about rare pairs and crack ships! Give those underdogs some love!):
Tanya/Bastion is kind of cute. And I guess Chazz/Atticus too. ^^
Day 23 (September 22): “And For Today’s Lesson…” (The teachers at Duel Academy have their work cut out for them, but they still take care of their students. Show the DA staff some love today!):
Fonda Fontaine!
Day 24 (September 23): “Legend of the Seven Gems” (Resurrect the greatest light in history today with Johan/Jesse Anderson and the Crystal Beasts!):
Johan is very cute! I’m so glad they gave him a Southern accent in the dub. ^^ It makes him extra soft and lovable. I can’t believe that Johan/JIm is called Cowboyshipping, but I love that name so much.
Day 25 (September 24): “For The Glory of Academia!” (We got to see Asuka/Alexis and Edo/Aster over in Fusion Dimension, but what about the rest of the cast? Show us some Fusion counterparts today! What are these dorks up to and what part do they play in the war?):
I’m bad at rewriting canon. ^^: Sorry.
Day 26 (September 25): “Dream Team From Overseas” (Austin O’Brien/Axel Brody, Jim “Crocodile” Cook, and Amon/Adrian Gecko. Today is all about them!)
I absolutely love Jim Cook, from him being Australian to having a crocodile as his best friend to getting burned with a mysterious object to cowboy hat. xD
Day 27 (September 26): “Duel Monster Spirit Day!” (The world of GX is full of spirits. Do something fun to celebrate your favorite!):
Mine would be Scapeghost and Rose Garden Maiden!
Day 28 (September 27): “Gold Eyes in The Darkness” (Today’s all about the Supreme King! Unleash the Darkness and create your content!):
I like his aesthetic. I’m into Chazz/Supreme King for sure.
Day 29 (September 28): “Don’t Forget Me!” (Have an underappreciated character you wish you’d seen more of? Give them some love today!):
Miss Dorothy! She’s wonderful, she’s friend shaped.
Day 30 (September 29): Free Day 3 (Share anything. Anything at all. It’s free game.):
The Chazz/Supreme King fic I’m working on: The Supreme King’s Husband (Prologue)
Day 31 (September 30): “Gotcha!”:
Is this a Pokemon reference? O_o
Wuko/Korrasami/ OC insert soulmate AU part 2
@mypureessence
"So youre my plus one because... well I dont exactly want to go alone" Korra said while fixing her formal clothes
"Like a bodyguard right?" Lee said with a perplexed expression
"What? No, no, I don't need a body guard, if anyone needs a body guard its you and not me" Korra sighed "I meant as a date"
"A date? Oh... oh! I uh, I okay, huh" Lee looked down at her dress "well, I guess that would work better with this dress anyways" the dress she wore was a slit leg over the shoulder, tight around the waist dark red dress with white edges and jewels.
Korra gave a snort "yeah, not sure you could fight off an attacker in that"
"You'd be surprised what I can do Avatar Korra" Lee smirked "Im not as weak as most see me as"
"Oh! I... I didn't mean to say I think your weak... Im sure you're a very skilled fighter"
"That I am, come on, lets get going Im sure they're waiting."
Arriving at a Gala for the avatar as the avatars plus one is quite an... interesting experience to say the least, Lee held onto Korra's arm, being a good head and a half shorter than the other woman had its awkward points she noted to herself. Though walking with Korra and the airbender family was even more interesting, Meelo had his sights set on her simply because he thought she was an alien from just seeing her hair.
"Avatar Korra! I'm so glad you made it, come now, the city awaits its hero" when Tarrlok reached out to take Korra from her grasp Lee gripped tighter and shot him a hard glaring expression
"I'm her plus one, we go together"
Hesitantly the mand gave in and simply bowed as the duo walked past him, Korra whispering a 'thank you' as they walked. "Korra, and.."
"Lee"
"Korra and Lee, it is my pleasure to introduce republic city's most successful industrialist, and inventor of the Satomobile, Hiroshi Sato"
"Its a pleasure to meet you, we're all expecting great things from you Korra"
"Right... greatness" Korra looked to the side clearly uncomfortable with the expectations.
"Korra!" Mako called out, grabbing the attention of Korra and Lee. Though when the paired looked up and saw Mako with the girl on his arm said girls right eye changed to blue and the group went quiet.
"Oh.. oh no. Oh Mako sweetie was this the girl you were talking about?" Lee said with a wince
Mako, while giving a grinning Korra a glare "yes, and now I guess Korra gets to talk about her"
"Wow, youre uh.. youre pretty" Korra said with an awkward grin "uh. Sorry to steal your girl Mako"
"Dont mention it... seriously... dont"
Hiroshi gave a hearty laugh "well, isn't that a turn of events noone saw coming?"
"How did you two meet anyways?" Korra asked with a small smile
Bolin, coming out of nowhere leaned on Korra "Asami crashed her bike into him"
"Oh... are you okay?"
"Im fine, more than fine actually, Mr. Sato agreed to sponsor the fireferrets, we're back in the tournament!"
Bolin now leaned on Mako with a big grin "isn't that great!"
"Yeah.. great" there she goes again with the discouraged tone and expression.
"Ah! Chief Beifong!" Tarrlok called over the cities chief of police. Turning over to see the woman Lee made eyecontact and watched as the right of her pale green eyes managed to get a blueish tint to it, though didnt account for the fact that it was her own color, or that the scowl on her face was meant for both Korra and herself "I believe you and avatar Korra have already met? This is her plus one Miss Lee"
"Just becau-" it clicked in Lee's brain and she blurted out
"Wow, so that's where you've been all this time?"
"... what?" Lin then turned to look and Lee and took in the fact that they now mirrored eachothers eyes "oh good gods no"
"I beg your pardon?" Lee said with a raised eyebrow "is there something wrong with me being your soulmate?"
"Of course there is, I mean come on, how am I supposed to protect a runt like you?" Lin said with a scowl
"A runt? A runt! Oh, why you! Ugh! Okay look, I may be short but I can hold my own I mean how do you think I managed to meet the avatar huh? Some sort of slightly dangerous event right?"
Lin just scoffed "Ill talk to you after this is over miss Lee"
Lee gave a glare "of course you will"
After Tarrlok separated Korra and Lee to bring her to some reporters she finally caved to his wishes and joined the task force that she had said no to on several occasions prior to that night.
Not too long after that situation the gala was over and Lee was making sure Korra was okay when her arm was grabbed and she was dragged aside by Lin just as Asami walked up "hey!" Was all Korra and Asami heard as she was dragged away
"Hey, I wanted to make sure you were okay, you don't seem to be the 'mics in my face' type of person" Asami said with a hand on Korra's shoulder
"I'm fine, but thanks for checking on me... but uh... us huh?" Korra said with a half grin
"Yeah... us, hey how would you like to get out of here and go for a ride on my bike?" Asami suggested and took hold of both of Korra's hands excitedly
Korra flushed slightly and paused "yeah, yeah, I'd like that, lets go." And so the two took off for a night ride
Meanwhile Lee was being dragged into a room with the door slammed behind her before being pinned to it. "Woah! Woah, slow down, you said talk"
"And I am talking. I'm telling you now that you better explain to me in great detail why I should let it get out that you are my soulmate?"
Lee glared "and why would you want me hidden?"
"Because people will see you and go after you, a lot of people have it out for me because I'm the chief, I need to know that you can hold your own but trust me enough to protect you when you need it." Her expression seemed to soften just a little
"Okay, fine, if you need an explanation so bad then here you go, I'm an explosives expert and I'm skilled in hand to hand combat while dodging most bending attacks" Lee rolled her eyes "trust me, being a singer and a bouncer at a shady bar Ive had to fend off several attacks. I think I'm good"
"And would anyone who's got it out for me frequent this bar?"
"Probably, its shady and we get a lot of members from gangs most nights... why? I just told you I can hold my own against them"
"Because we could use an explosives expert on the force" Lin leaned back "and I think if I had you by my side on the force it'd be easier to know that you're safe and protect you if you're in danger"
"So youre asking me to quit my job that I've worked at for years and join the force as an explosives expert meaning I get to work with bombs and the like more often?" Lee gave a grin "count me in"
OC Test: Destiny
[Do you believe in destiny?]
Jacquelyn:Tsk, of course not. Destiny isn’t real, only fools cling to such a concept instead of owning or taking responsibilities of their actions. Destiny didn’t crush my hands or slaughter my town; it definitely didn’t do that. That one is on me and the people too blind to see the possible consequences of ruining a innocent girls life. To hell with destiny.
Everyone:....
Jael:M-Mom?
Jacquelyn:Huh? Oh! *red* I’m sorry! I totally brought down the mood and called anyone who believes in destiny fools; I got a little carried away. I think....I’ll take a walk. *leaves*
Jael:Sorry about her. Things like destiny is a bit of a taboo, a well that keeps on getting deeper. For as much as she smiles, it’s easy to forget she has plenty of baggage. All neatly put away but baggage nonetheless.
Sienna:That being said, we are her daughters and have our fair share of baggage. Not to mention mentality.
Jael:Yeah....
Sienna and Jael:Destiny is a fool’s tool...
Yujin:Can’t say I agree entirely but I understand. When I think about what’s happened to me, to my family....no way I could accept that it was gonna happened. I guess I’m not the biggest fan of destiny either.
Tenzen:Which means I’m the odd one out. Yeah, bad things have happened. But I’ve also been apart of so many good things in my life; some that fell right into my lap. Sure it was my choice to act upon those moments but still, I can’t help but feel like an invisible string might’ve been pulled for me to even get the chance. Birth even feels like a bit of a miracle when you think about it. All the possible outcomes and yet you were one of them and met people who are like minded or directly oppose you? It almost feels magical.
Lucas:Look at you, all deep in thought and still positive.
Tenzen:Nah I’m just rambling. I’m interested to know what destiny is to someone who can see the future. If you believe that sort of thing.
Lucas:Hmm, I guess my outlook would be somewhat unique. Let’s put it like this. Destiny, is like waves in a ocean. Some waves are weak and can be cut right through, while others are so large that you have no choice but to let it sweep you away. That’s destiny and my semblance in a nutshell really. Some things are bound to happen but can easily be interrupted from time to time.
Nick:How insightful. I think I’m undecided. boring I know, but it’s the truth. Never gave destiny much thought. I’m curious about it now though.
Veronica:(It’s quite sad...)
Valerie:(Just how much you lie)
Summer:Not sure why, but I choose to believe in it. I should be dead, and yet I’m not. That must count for something. Maybe destiny has plans for me and my affliction? That gives me hope.
Veronica:So you know exactly why you choose to believe in destiny?
Summer:Hehe, I guess you’re right.
Veronica:Everything about you makes me tired. Nothing about my life would even begin to make me think such a thing exists. If it did then I might actually be concerned but nope, it’s just a concept. Even if it did exist...I’d get to laugh at it as I break its rules.
Valerie:Pyrrha’s definition of destiny is a thing I believe, a goal you work towards your entire life. Even if you might not realize it at first, you’re making strides towards it. I love sports since forever. It’s only natural that lead me to become a captain, which leads to recruiters, then media status, and one thing keeps building from another.
Sparrow:To a certain point. I’ve traveled far and wide across the ocean and more often than not, it’s up to the water I’d you’ll actually make it or not. Lady Luck, fate, destiny, whatever you want to call it, I’d put stock in it.
Carmine:*rubs chin*......
Yujin:Can’t decide?
Carmine:That’s not it. Putting it into words is a little weird is all. I believe....when enough people want something with all their heart and they do whatever they can to achieve it, then it makes others do the same. If everyone is trying their absolute hardest to get their own outcome for the same thing, then all those things will eventually clash. Then it comes down to who wants it more.
Jael:Carmine, that’s basically what a competition is.
Yujin:She’s right. I’m never really interested in Tenzen’s dance contest until the final round because ther was no way he wouldn’t make it to the finals. All his training made it all but certain he’d get that far at least.
Nick:It’s the same whenever Kingdoms have to pick representatives for tournaments. There’s a bunch of good people in each kingdom but it’s easy to tell who they’ll pick and watch matches will happen because everyone knows who puts in the effort and wants it bad enough.
Lucas:Another way to put it is out universes. The outcomes vary between them but we all have the common factor of our families in a decisive battle against Salem and her followers. Give or take a few people, there was still strong opposing beliefs that ended up having to clash. Maybe the reason alternate universes exist isn’t based on choices, but because their beliefs are slightly shifted. If we took all of our team RWBYs from their time at beacon, would they be the exact same?
Tenzen:Or team RNJR right after their formation. Did they all grieve the same? Different disposition lead to different reactions, which would eventually mean different decisions.
Carmine:A Jaune that might’ve been a bit more angry.
Summer:A Jaune who tried to put on a brave face.
Lucas:One nearly crippled by his sadness and retreated inward.
Yujin:Or one devoted to being their at the cost of his life.
Carmine:Oh boy, this sure got off topic. Though it is pretty thought provoking. I’m not one to think so deeply about things like this really, so believe me when I say I’m interested.
Valerie:You seem like the type to think a lot of things thoroughly though.
Carmine:No, not really. Or should I say, not as much as I should in my position. Think once, think twice, and then a third just in case. I typically stop after two. Sometimes once if I’m caught up in the swing of things or I’m emotional.
Everyone:Emotional...? That’s a thing with you?
Carmine:All of you suck. I’m done talking to you. *lays down*
Everyone:No! We’re sorry!
(Quick recap in italics cus I know it’s been a HOT minute since I updated this...)
Shinso smirks as Izuku eyes gloss over.
“That’s it. I win.” I sigh. It was just like Shinso said; he’d get his opponents under his Quirk, and then it would be over. With no one close enough to jolt Izuku out of Shinso’s control, Shinso could secure victory fairly easily.
He might even be able to win the entire festival just using his Quirk. As long as he could get people to talk to him he’d win.
“Aaahhh! I warned him not to say anything!” Oijiro groans, hands on his head. He was hoping he’d helped Izuku win against Shinso.
To be honest, I’m not terribly surprised at this outcome. Shinso knows how to get people to talk, even if it is a bit harsh.
“Hey, what’s the dealyo?!” Dad cries, “This is the first match, and it’s started with a bang! The fight has just begun and Izuku Midoriya is completely frozen!”
I watch as Izuku remains still, awaiting Shinso’s order to walk out of bounds. If something doesn’t change, Izuku will lose this match and be out of the tournament!
The crowd is completely silent after witnessing Izuku suddenly stop short.
“He’s not moving a muscle!” Dad exclaims as Izuku continues to stand there, awaiting orders.
“Shit, Shinso…” I murmur, fingers gripping my PE outfit tightly as tense seconds go by. “I forget how intimidating you can be.” I’d never really seen him fight, now I think about it. Or even use his Quirk, really.
Sure, he was a bit rough around the edges sometimes, but he had never truly struck me as intimidating before this moment.
Now, I was seeing my friend through the eyes of an opponent. Izuku must be terrified if he’s even aware of what’s going on.
Hitoshi told me he was never sure if the people under his Quirk were simply watching helplessly as they obeyed his orders, or if they truly didn’t know they were brainwashed.
I can’t tell which would be worse, honestly.
I knew, either way, it wasn’t an entirely pleasant experience, which led to so many people pegging my friend as a villain.
“And what’s with that look on his face?” Dad continues, and I do notice Izuku’s lifeless expression. Poor guy… “Could this be a Quirk at work?” I knew Dad knew about Shinso’s Quirk, but the commentator in Dad couldn’t help being dramatic. “Hitoshi Shinso seems to have Izuku Midoriya completely stunned!” The crowd is beginning to react to the fight now, murmuring amongst themselves as Dad continues his commentary. “He didn’t stand out in the first round, but it’s possible Shinso’s crazy powerful!”
I laugh a little at Dad’s enthusiastic commentary style and watch on the large screen as he moves wildly about in his seat while he talks. “Who could have predicted this turn of events?!” He asks rhetorically. “That’s the Festival for yah!” He chirps and I laugh harder. My dad was crazy, but I loved him.
Then mom’s voice stalls Dad’s laughter. “This is a perfect example of why the entrance exam isn’t rational.” Mom points out and I get her meaning a few seconds later.
After all, robots couldn’t be brainwashed, or have their Quirks canceled out. So, Mom and Shinso are in the same boat. No wonder she hates the entrance exam so much! She probably started where Hitoshi is now, clawing her way into the Hero Course and becoming the amazing hero she is today.
“Huh?” Dad asks, slowly coming down off his commentating high and not quite processing what Mom had said just yet. “Why’s that, honey?”
“Since we’re on to the individual matches, I had some information compiled about our final competitors. Shinso failed the practical exam to get into the Hero Course. Since he also applied for the General Studies course, he probably figured that would happen. His Quirk is incredibly strong, but that entrance test consisted of fighting faux villains; robots. It gives a huge advantage to those with physical superpowers they could show off. Despite his abilities, Shinso never stood a chance of passing.”
Hitoshi and Izuku don’t react to my parents’ discussion.
Hitoshi seems to tense up. “So, here we are. You’re lucky to have been so blessed, Izuku Midoriya.” He notes, almost menacingly. He then tilts his head back a little and to one side almost casually. “Now turn around and walk out of bounds like a good little hero.” He instructs.
Izuku does, marching slowly toward the edge of the ring.
Dad gasps. “What?!” He cries. “Midoriya’s obeying him!”
“Not that Izuku has a choice.” I mumble to myself.
“Oh no, Deku!” Ochako exclaims worriedly. “What’re you doing?”
“Hang on, folks!” Dad calls as Izuku continues his shambling toward the edge. “Babe, hand me that file would yah?” On the screen, I see Mom handing Dad Hitoshi’s file and he reads the description of Hitoshi’s quirk aloud.
Ochako then turns to me. “Don’t you know this Shinso guy?” She asks.
I nod. “Yeah. We went to middle school together. He’s a good person, he’s just very driven and focused.” I explain. “Most people assume he’s gonna be a villain with his Quirk, but he wants to prove them wrong and become a great hero.”
“Whoa! I had no idea...that’s so cool!” Trust Ochako to be so open and trusting. Since I vouched for him she accepted my word and didn’t doubt my friend. “Still, though, you were right about him being focused. He’s so intense, too!”
I chuckle a little. “Yeah he is. You get used to it.”
“Either way, Modiriya will lose this match if he can’t stop himself from walking out of the ring!” Tenya reminds us and I bite my lip.
While I wanted Hitoshi to do really well in this festival and get into the Hero Course, I also didn’t want Izuku to lose.
I was so torn, I couldn’t pay attention as Dad continued to talk about Shinso’s quirk and how it wasn’t flashy and yet it was super powerful...or something.
“You okay?” Eijiro asks suddenly.
I shake myself. “Y-yeah. It’s just that I’m not sure who to root for here.” I try for a chuckle but it fades quickly.
“I can imagine.” Eijiro’s eyes watch Hitoshi and I swear there’s something like anger or maybe something else in his eyes for only a second, then he smiles a little. “After all, it’s two of your friends down there. I wouldn’t know who to root for either, Kara.”
Down below, I can see Hitoshi saying something, but I can’t quite make it out...then I notice the other person in the ring.
“Damn, look how close Izuku is to the edge!” I squeak, leaning forward. If something doesn’t change, Izuku will lose! “C’mon, c’mon! There’s gotta be something that’ll snap him- -”
Suddenly, there’s a loud noise and a huge gust of wind bursts from Izuku, sweeping up and over the crowd.
While it was kinda refreshing, I needed to know if Izuku had won or not. I lean back out a bit and look to see Izuku barely in the ring, panting heavily.
Had he been fighting the whole time, just able to wiggle his fingers at the last minute to discharge One for All and create the stimulation needed to break out of Hitoshi’s hold?
“What’s this?!” Dad exclaims in surprise. “Midoriya’s stopped just in time!”
“Yeah! Go, Izuku!” I cheer automatically.
“That’s the way to do it!” Tenya adds.
“Whoa! I was about to freak out!” Ochako sighs in relief, all but collapsing in her seat.
Ojiro sits down too. I wasn’t even aware he’d stood up til now. He breaths out in relief, hand over his heart. “That just about killed me.”
I don’t reply, watching Hitoshi clench his jaw angrily. “You’re not supposed to be able to fight back! What did you do?!” He yells, trying to get Izuku to talk again, likely forgetting that I had told Izuku what I knew of Hitoshi’s Quirk.
Izuku puts a hand over his mouth instinctively.
Getting angrier, Hitoshi takes a step forward. “How’d you do that?!” He presses, but still Izuku resists talking.
Izuku shakes his head as if to clear it (understandable; he probably had a lot going on in that brain of his right now) and faces Hitoshi, holding his injured hand now.
“C’mon! Say something!” Hitoshi taunts, then assumes a slightly more relaxed stance. “I didn’t know you had so much power in your fingers. I’m kinda jealous of you!”
Of course Hitoshi would be jealous.
He’d never said it to my face, but I could tell he wanted a flashy, physical Quirk like mine or anyone around him’s. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
Izuku starts running toward Hitoshi, and I can see the pain in his eyes from his broken fingers.
“Thanks to the way my Quirk works, I’ve always been at a huge disadvantage. But someone as blessed as you wouldn’t understand that!” Izuku grits his teeth to keep from talking and I can tell how much Hitoshi’s words were affecting him. Poor guy had been Quirkless growing up. “You’re lucky enough to have a heroic Quirk! It’ll be so easy for you to reach your goal!”
I bite my lip. No one around me was really reacting to what Hitoshi was saying, but I could feel a few eyes on me. As Hitoshi’s friend, they were gauging my reaction.
Hang in there, Hitoshi… I think, hands gripping my PE outfit again.
Izuku reaches Hitoshi and begins shoving him back toward the edge. “Say something, dammit!” Hitoshi growls, punching Izuku right in the face. I flinch. That had to hurt.
Izuku is still determined, though, continuing to push Hitoshi toward the edge. Hitoshi glances back worriedly at the narrowing space between him and the edge of the ring, now desperate, and slams his fist into Izuku’s injured fingers.
Izuku, predictably, reels back, grunting in pain.
“Did you have to go for the low blow?” I grumble to myself, but realize there’s a chance, if I were in Shinso’s position, I’d do the same thing, so I let it go.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me!” Hitoshi roars as Izuku, attempting to resume pushing Hitoshi, stumbles when Hitoshi moves aside, bumbling to a halt, within the boundaries. It’s now Hitoshi’s turn to shove Izuku backwards. “Get out of the ring you lucky brat!” Shinso screams in frustration.
Unfortunately for Hitoshi, however, Izuku seemed prepared for that. He grabs the front of Hitoshi’s PE outfit, the other hand, the injured one, gripping Hitoshi’s arm. Izuku cries out in pain and heaves Hitoshi over his shoulder like he’d done with Katsuki during that combat training on the second day of hero training.
I wince as Hitoshi’s mouth opens in a silent cry of pain, his eyes closing as his body briefly passes out.
It had worked, however. Izuku won. Shinso’s feet were out of bounds.
I am off my chair almost before anyone could react, ignoring a few calls of my name as I race toward the arena, eager to get to Hitoshi, and...well, I’d figure that out based on his reaction when I get there.
“Shinso is out of bounds!” I hear Oba Nemuri call distantly and I pick up the pace a little. “Midoriya is the winner!”
Absently, I remember all the students in our middle school that, once they found out what Hitoshi’s Quirk was, eagerly talked about the nefarious possibilities as if that were what Hitoshi wanted.
I grit my teeth.
Those jerks probably didn’t mean to add to Hitoshi’s anger and frustration, but still. It made me mad that virtually no one aside from me, my parents, and his parents, could see past the brainwashing and actually get to know Hitoshi.
If they had, they’d have never suggested that he’d be a villain.
I get nearly to the edge of the hall leading into the arena when Dad’s voice comes over the PA system. “And with that expertly performed throw, we have our first victor of the finals; Class 1-A’s Izuku Midoriya!”
I finally see the light at the end of the hall and stop to walk the rest of the way and catch my breath.
Surprisingly (Or not, considering…) Toshin-Oji was there. He seems surprised to see me. “Hi.” I greet, trying to steady my breathing as Dad continues talking.
“That was actually kind of a boring first match, kids, but both of you fought bravely! Let’s show them some love everyone!” Dad cheers and the crowd obliges. I move to walk over to Shinso, but Toshin-Oji puts a hand on my shoulder.
“Wait just a minute.” He says a moment later, guessing easily why I was here.
Hitoshi gets up a moment later, saying nothing as he faces Izuku.
Izuku does an awkward half-bow (as usual after a sparring match) before giving up and standing there, holding his hand again.
“That was kind of a boring first match, kids,” Dad says and I roll my eyes. He was always wanting intense action in any fight he watched, be it in training or whatever he was watching. “but both of them fought bravely. Let’s show them some love, everyone!” The crowd obliges.
Now that I was closer, I couldn’t see Hitoshi’s face, but Izuku looked frankly kinda sad, like he regretted what he’d done. I see Izuku ask a question and Hitoshi almost flinchs in surprise. It seemed he wasn’t quite prepared for that question.
Then Hitoshi was walking toward me, after replying I assume, and I could see his face clouded with emotion.
I took that as my cue and started jogging toward him. “Hey~!” I cheer, hugging him eagerly. “You did so awesome out there!”
He peels me off. “I didn’t win.” He grumbles.
I catch up to his renewed walking easily. “So?” I reply, shrugging. “You still showed the world what you can do. Everyone’ll be buzzing about you now.”
“They aren’t saying anything good, I bet.”
Poor Shinso’s default was to assume everyone thinks poorly of him, and I felt absolutely terrible for him.
So I laugh. “Oh, don’t be cynical, Hitoshi.” I reply, patting him on the back for good measure. “You don’t know that.”
As if coordinated, we spot some students gathered on the bottom of the stands, leaning over and calling for Hitoshi, a few looking at me and smirking.
“You’re the star of our program!” among other encouraging things, were called out to Hitoshi and then one student tells us to listen to what the crowd was saying.
It was hard to make out, but it was mostly about how easy it’ll be for Hitoshi to subdue villains with his Quirk and how amazing it was. A few were even complaining at how Hitoshi was stuck in General Studies.
I grin. About time people realized how amazing a hero Hitoshi will be.
Hitoshi turns his head just enough that Izuku could tell Hitoshi was talking to him. “Depending on the results, they might transfer people into the Hero Course.” He says. “Remember that.” I grin and side-hug my friend.
“Yeah! I’ll put in a good word for yah and see if my parents can vouch for you, too! This isn’t over, Hitoshi! We’ll get you into the Hero Course.”
“Don’t worry, Takara.” Hitoshi replies, even as he smiles a little at me and removes my arm from his shoulders. “I’m not giving up. I’ll get onto the Hero track, get certified, and then…” he grits his teeth, “I’ll become a better hero than any of you!”
I’m so swept away in the emotions of the moment, I hug Hitoshi again.
“Hell yeah!” I cheer and Hitoshi peels me off again.
Then I notice Izuku’s lifeless expression and smack Hitoshi’s arm. “You know, people usually tense up when they talk to me.” Hitoshi notes, rubbing his arm. “Other than Takara and our families, that is. If you’re not on guard, someone’s going to defeat you. So be careful.”
“C’mon, let him go.” I chuckle, and Hitoshi does. “I’ll get you some water or something to pay you back for the gummies.”
I lead Hitoshi toward the hall when he stops for a second. “You better not lose and make me look bad.” Then Hitoshi continues walking away.
I chuckle. “You always were dramatic.” I muse wryly.
“Shut up.” He replies, but his smirk betrays him. Once we’re away from the eyes of the public, Hitoshi sags. “Thanks, Kara.”
“For what?” I ask.
“For always being there for me.”
I ruffle his hair. “Of course, knucklehead. We’re friends, aren’t we?” He smacks my hand away.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. You owe me gummies.” He grumbles good-naturedly, leading the way toward the nearest vending machines.
I pull out my wallet (still in my pocket from lunch) and insert the change, retrieving the gummies and tossing them to Hitoshi as I turn to leave. “Well, I need to get back to my class now. They’re probably wondering why I left.”
Hitoshi shrugs. “They saw you down there with me. They’re not that dumb.”
I scoff. “None of them are stupid, Hitoshi. But anyway, see yah around!” I wave at him and he waves back as we part ways.
It doesn’t take as long as I thought it would to get back to my classmates and sit down. No one said anything for a long moment and I was beginning to feel hot and flustered (I’m not sure why, though) when Eijiro finally breaks the silence.
“So what was that all about?” He was testy again. I raise a brow.
“He’s my friend, Eijiro. I just wanted to congratulate him on his fight. He’s not great at fighting yet, but he’s trying. Plus, he needed a bit of encouragement after losing to Izuku.”
“Hmm...alright, that makes sense.” He says and it’s clear he’s still upset about something, but I can’t make out what he’s so mad about, so I just sit there awkwardly.
“Everyone's talking about Shinso.” Ochako muses, chuckling. “Must be a thrill for him.”
Mentally thanking her, I nod. “Yeah. He’s not used to positive feedback, but I think he likes the change.”
“He has a very unique Quirk, and I think he has potential as a hero, if nothing else.” It was obvious Tenya was just trying to compliment Hitoshi because I knew him, and I appreciated the gesture, so I nod.
“He really does.”
We sit waiting and soon enough Izuku walks up. Tenya waves to him and has Izuku sit next to him and Ochako.
“Thanks, guys!” Izuku replies happily, then notices Ojiro smiling at him. Izuku smiles back and sits down as the flames in the corners turn on again, and the opponents of the next match step into the ring.
“Enough standing around!” Dad cheers, “Now it’s on to the next players!” The screen displays the next matchup, and I see Hanta and Shoto. I figure it’s an easy win for Shoto (unless Hanta has a plan of some kind) and settle in to watch.
“He’s got some skills, but at the expense of some freaky looking elbows.” I laugh. Trust Dad to sort-of insult pretty much everyone in his commentary. “From the Hero Course, it’s Hanta Sero...versus an early frontrunner in the competition, who’s way too strong for his own good! Someone who got into the Hero Course due to recommendations. It’s Shoto Todoroki!”
Hanta looks like he’s stretching his arms, smiling cockily at Shoto, who stands there, waiting for the match to begin.
“And now for the second match of the first round!” Dad says, pausing just a second for effect, “Begin!”
I think Hanta says something, but I can’t tell what he said as he snaps tape toward Shoto almost before Dad had finished beginning the match, resulting in Shoto being tied up before he could move.
Hanta yanks Shoto toward the edge, letting out more tape to get Shoto closer to the edge faster.
“A plot to throw his opponent from the ring!” Dad cheers, “A brilliant strategy from the underdog! Way to start out strong, Sero!” He encourages.
But, unfortunately, Shoto’s ice powers then activate and freeze the tape, steadying Shoto, the ice hurdling toward Hanta before he could move, and soon enough- -
“Agh!” I scream in shock as a massive ice wall comes toward me. Eijiro’s hand on my chest pushes me back in my seat just in time. My nose was only a foot or two from the ice, seems like. The stadium was still vibrating from the sheer power of that much ice moving at once.
My breath condensates in the air as we all process what happened.
“This is insane…” I breath in shock.
“Y-yeah...geez...he didn’t hold back at all.” Eijiro mumbles absently beside me, his arm flopping to his side.
“He went way overboard! Someone could have been hurt!” Tenya protests.
“Tell the truth, Sero…” Oba Nemuri’s voice comes over the speakers. “Can you move at all?”
I think Sero replies cus Oba continues a moment later. “Sero had been immobilized! Todoroki advances to the second round!”
There’s silence, everyone still coming out of their shock at the sheer power Todoroki had displayed.
Then, I hear everyone start shouting ‘Nice try!’, presumably to Hanta, and I then decide to move to where I could see around the ice.
A few classmates went with me. All I could see was Shoto near Hanta, and there’s steam, so I can assume he was getting Hanta out of the ice.
There was something about Shoto’s posture and body language…
He seemed sad.
I resolve to talk to him more often. This was definitely intriguing.
Hi hey hello bubs!! 🤗Just casually dropping by to send you my ardent adoration of Clandestine. I’ll admit, I’m absolute noona trash, ergo I LOVE older reader fics. Throw in a side of forbidden romance, and I’m yours!! Really tho, I’m LOVING the dynamics between her and jk. The way jk just shamelessly pursues her + the way she tries SO HARD to keep her own attraction towards him at bay= ✨T E N S I O N✨ It actually takes my breath away😩😩. The way he steals her coffee in the beginning of ch2 tho haha I really liked the subtle hint of intimacy in the sharing of that cup. And then… “but I’ll be your dessert if you want me ;)” HAHAHA HE’S SO EMBARASSING. But my favorite scene is the one in the kitchen at tae’s party as everyone is gathering to watch the BP tournament. The way he corners her at the fridge and she finally just gives in to her desires… I FELT THAT. “Tell me, and I’ll give it to you. I’ll give you anything you want.” And “Do you know how long I’ve wanted this?” followed up with a 180 deg SWEEEERVE in the dialogue that makes me think he’s more than just into her physically. I have a feeling he’s been harboring a bit of a crush on her for a while now. But when she has that realization that jk’s undoubtedly, unabashedly a man now <- my literal thoughts during the my time performance. Can’t fault my girl cus… hard same🥵🥵🥵 And can I just say… the smut… A+ so hot 🥵🥵. I love that you hit on the topic of consent with the way he wants to know that his desire for her is mutual and then asks permission to fuck her after he goes down on her. Ok and I HAVE TO MENTION IT. “He catches your eye at the same time he releases the ball with a flick of his wrist, a knowing smirk settling on his face as triumphant cheers break out all around you.” IS SO REMINISCENT OF ONE TREE HILL… and I’m looooovin it. And the way jk seems to get a bit ??jealous?? when another guy (other than jimin) calls her “noona” has me a bit endeared?? Except I'm also confused with that ending scene alluding to jk’s newfound fuckboy status… what happened to him in the year that she’s been away at college?? Is he really just playin her?? What's the blow back gonna look like since he's her lil brothers bff?? 👀👀I’m excited to see how their story unfolds!! Thanks for sharing your writing with us!! Sending you all my love 💜💜💜
holy smokes, BABE 🤧 the way my jaw dropped when i saw this in my inbox and had to scroll to read it all 😭
i am so so happy you’re enjoying the fic so far! jk really is being shameless, isn’t he 😒 not that we can complain though LMAO. i’m having such a good time playing with their dynamic and characterizing jk to be as infuriatingly hot as possible, can you tell that this is an exercise in self-indulgence for me? is that obvious enough??? 🤣
“HE’S SO EMBARRASSING” YOU ARE RIGHT MY FRIEND 😂😂😂
and the kitchen scene! that’s probably my favorite scene too! i had a lot of fun writing it and tbh it’s a scene i had written out long before the rest of the chapter and the preceding chapter were done, hahaha. i wrote it long before i saw the my time performance too but MY GOD if i didn’t channel that into all of the writing i’ve done since 🥵 ALSO? i love that you picked up on the consent tidbit! explicit consent is so important!!!
sndjflsjdflksjd i’ve never seen one tree hill I DON’T GET THAT REFERENCE I’M SORRY 😅 i just want jk to be stupid good at pong bc you know he absolutely has to be 😂
and the jealousy, oof u right! and is it a crush? is it more? what happened while oc was gone? we shall see 👀😂
thank you so much for taking the time to leave this message, babe! i love and appreciate the support!!! 🥺
Sakura POV
I sat there alone. I watched the TV, headlines about Ground Zero and Red Riot defeat a villain. I watch the News too much. I shut it off and looked out the window. I got up from the bed and went to window. I sat in the windowsill and stare at the trees. I could barely look at Cherry Blossoms without think about how we would sit under them talking about are future together.
A knock at the door and my nurse came in. I didn’t look at her “Miss, have you taken you medication?” She asked kindly. I nodded and keep staring out the window. I’ve been in here for 10 years and it was the same everyday. Wake up, take my meds with breakfast, go to group and just listen to them, go back to my room to watch the news, stare out the window for an hour, have lunch, do some light reading, Wait for Aiko to come and visit, have dinner and say goodbye to Aiko, watch some more news, and go to bed early.
I had gotten a letter from Dabi today, it was sweet of him. He was arrest 9 years ago and our son was in custody of Bakugo. Kouichi told me they both were at each other throats and was excited to go out of there. I felt bad but Kouichi needs someone like Katsuki in his life to be role model or at least a father figure. My nurse tapped my shoulder.
I looked at her and she looked at me “You remember what today is?” She asked. I looked the calendar and widen my eyes. Today was UA’s Sport Festival. Aiko was in it with her class. I promised her I’d watch it or see it. I looked at my nurse and she smiled a little at me “How about you get dressed into real clothes and go watch it in person?” She said smiling. I nodded and grab the clothes she had bought for me. I went in my bathroom and changed into a foral dress shirt with a black skirt. I put on the black heels she had for me too and walked out. I looked at her and smiled.
She looked at me “It’s been a while since I’ve seen you smile” she said. I nodded and looked at her happily “Let’s go” I said excitedly.
~~~~~~~
We got to the Festival. I see all the pro heroes that I knew. I had a black surgical mask on so no one knew it was me. I haven’t seen friends in years, the last person that saw me was Midoryia. He’s was a sweet guy but then he just cut off the contact with me. I couldn’t blame him though, I was definitely a lost cause. We got out and I looked around at everyone.
We walked to go find our seat. I looked around seeing unfamiliar faces and familiar ones. I avoid familiar faces which my nurse would watch almost ashamed of what I was doing “Sakura, maybe talking to them will help you clear up the air. They don’t know the truth on that night” she said. I let out pity chuckled, I’ve told everyone the truth yet no one listens to me. I was gonna respond but ran into someone. I turned to the person “Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention” I said and looked up at the person. It was Kirishma with Denkei beside him. He was standing there shocked with Denki confused “Sakura?” Kirishma said. I widen my eyes and lowered my mask so they could hear me clearly “Look please don’t say anything to Bakugo. I’m just here to watch and see my daughter. That’s all” I said
Kirishma looked at me with either sympathy or pity in his eyes. Denki looked at me and nodded “Yeah, we won’t say anything. Where’s your seat?” Denki spoke up before Kirishma. I pulled up my mask again and showed him. Denki nodded “Okay. We’ll make sure he stays away from there” he said. I smiled under my mask “Thank you” I said. My nurse grabbed my arm gently and we walked to are seats. I sit there nervously and saw Aiko class. I saw Aiko talking to a girl with green hair and white hair. The girl was Midoryia’s kid no doubt about that. Aiko was happy talking to the girl, maybe this was the girl that Aiko spoke about highly. I smiled at her.
The announcement started and I watched the student gather in a big group. I saw that Uraraka was the one nominated to watch the kids to make sure they don’t hurt anyone. Aiko was chosen to be the student to represent her class to say a few work. If she was anything like her father, this wouldn’t be good. I watched her come up to the stage. She looked at everyone “Look I want everyone to do their best here and I have to say I’m not doing this for my dad, I’m doing it for my mother. She’s watching me now and I’m gonna make her proud” she said in the mic
Okay this was worse then I expected. I was flattered that she said that but now Bakugou knew I was I here. She walked off the stage with her class. I felt the air get tense and waited for a explosion or yelling but nothing happened. My nurse grabbed my hand gently and I tried to calm down.
~~~~~~~
It went into The Battle Tournament and I decided to go see Aiko before she went to her battle. I went alone, if I were to see Bakugo then I’d be able to try and defuse the situation without her help. I got to her room she told Kouichi to text me. I got there and opened the door carefully. I saw her sitting there with Kouichi. She looked at me quickly and got up. I smiled at her and closed the door behind me “Mom!” She said and hugged me tightly. I hugged back and I didn’t really realize she was taller than me until now which was weird to me.
We pulled away and Kouichi came over then hugged me too while I hugged back. I knew Kouichi was gonna he tall just like his father. We pulled away and I smiled at them “I’m proud of you, Aiko. I didn’t get this far when I did the Sports Festival when I was your age. You take after your father a lot” I said. Aiko looked at me and smiled a lot “Thanks, mama. I just want to make you proud” she said. I looked at her and puts my hand on her arm “You’d never, ever disappoint me” I said.
Aiko tears up and wipes her tears “Thank you” she said smiling. Kouichi chuckled “Don’t cry. You’ll be too busy crying to focus on your fight” he said. Aiko glared at him angrily “Oh hush! I can kick your ass!” She yelled. I watched them pick on each other smiling at them. I missed this definitely, I never saw them together when they were younger pick and fight with each other. I felt bad but I was stuck in the hospital for most of their lives.
I hummed to get their attention which worked “I should get going, I need to leave before your father come” I said. Aiko and Kouichi hugged me together. I hugged them both smiling. I pulled away smiling and walked out the room. I closed the door behind me after leaving and looked up seeing the devil himself. Bakugo was standing there against the wall in his pro hero costume. His arm crossed and his eyes closed, a clear sign of him being pissed off. I stood there “Kats-” I started “Bakugo, you don’t call me Katsuki” he interrupted. I closed my mouth and recoil a little. He opened his eye, his vermilion eyes burning into my orchid colored eyes. He sighed “You can stay until it’s over then I want you to go back to the hospital again. We’ll talk there about the court order” he said “I promise you that you’ll never see my daughter again” he added putting a lot of anger on my. I stood there and nodded then started to walking away not wanting to start an argument. I started to tear up and then started to run down the hallway not wanting to look back at him.
I didn’t realize that he was staring at me with so much guilt. The built up guilt over the years made him angry at me and himself. I keep running crying and just kept running leaving the arena. I took off my mask harshly and threw it on the ground not caring. I was prepared to see him and I kept running.
~~~~~~
I was on a rooftop, I don’t know how I got on here. But I was here standing on the edge reflecting on my life. I had a quirk with a lethal side effect, I almost died from it, my birth father was a villain, my birth mother was abusive to me when I was born, I fucked up a good relationship with the only guy that I actually felt was a good one, and I didn’t get to see my daughter grow up. I stand there staring at the ground below.
I knew that people were trying to find me. An alert was sent out a few hours ago but I didn’t care. I heard the roof top door slam open and I turn around to look it. I saw Bakugo, Iida, and Aizawa. Aizawa was a dad figure just like my adoptive dad was too. Bakugo stares at me and moves towards me slowly. His mouth was moving but I didn’t hear anything. I smiled at him “I love you and our kids” I said to him and I backed off the roof. I closed my eyes and smiling. I felt myself fall and see glimpses of my life....
~~~~~~~~~~
10 years ago
The day that ruined my life, Aiko and I were playing in her room. Katsuki was getting groceries for dinner. It was his night to cook so we both knew it would be good. Aiko and I were smiling. I heard a knock on the door. I got up telling Aiko to say put. I went to the door and opened it. I saw Dabi there with Kouichi. I stood there “You can’t be here, Bakugo doesn’t like you coming over here without telling him” I said. Dabi looked down at me “You need to come back” he said to me. I sighed in annoyance.
“I’m not coming back. We made a deal, I sent money for you and Kouichi while you give us information on the League. I’m keeping you out of jail” I said angrily. Dabi sent Kouichi to Aiko room and he came in. He shut the door and I back up “Dabi!” I said. He grabbed me by my arms “I can’t do this without you. You don’t know how hard this is” he said. I looked at him and sighed “I gave you a choice back then. You and I can’t be together. I can keep Kouichi here few days while you sort things out” I explained.
Dabi stood there. He got mad and let’s go of me “I love you more than him. You know that” he said. I shook my head no “Katsuki loves me a lot too. I love him a lot too. You can’t change my mind” I said pushing him away. I went upstairs to go check on the kids. That was my first mistake, Dabi followed me upstairs and grabbed my back of my throat. I widen my eyes and reach back digging my nails in his scars which made him let go quickly. I ran to the bathroom and shut the door locking it.
Dabi bangs on the door yelling at me. I stood there crying and cover my ears telling him to leave. I opened the cabinet and grabbed the my medicine. I knew the dosage could kill me but I knew it would make me go in and out of consciousness only killing me if I . I grabbed the syringe and got the dosage. I put it in the my arm and sat down on the ground. I closed my eyes and get flashed of Aiko knocking the door, then the door getting blown up, the Bakugo hold me closely crying, and lastly I woke up in the hospital
I look around and sat up a little. My head pounding and I saw Katsuki in a chair. He was sleeping, I looked at him and grabbed his hand gently. I rub his knuckles trying to see if he’d wake up. He did stir awake and looked at me. He squeezed my hand and got up. He sat down on the bed and looked at me. He looked drained “I can’t do that again” he said. I looked at him confusedly “Bakugo I wasn’t trying-” I stared but he gripped my hand stopping me. I saw he was crying and I let go of his hand “Alright, I understand” I said. He got up and walked out quietly. I sat there and started to cry. I covered my face and keep crying. I’m an fucking idiot.
I might do a part two to this but only if people want it
