ngl i kinda hope philip/belos ends up being a villain somewhat like the nowhere king from centaurworld, where we get a backstory reveal for him that makes him more of a sympathetic/tragic character but he still dies anyways. like the nowhere king, he's gone way too far and done too many horrible things to ever be forgiven or have a chance at living a normal/happy life, there's no redemption arc waiting for him. death or some kind of reset/internal imprisonment/etc is the only satisfying ending i see for him, but that doesn't mean that he can't have a compelling and/or tragic backstory.

i think the best villains are the ones where you can sympathise with them but still hate them for the awful things that they've done. a lot of ppl seem to assume that if you feel any kind of sympathy with a villain than that must mean they need to have a redemption arc, and that therefore irredeemable villains need to have no relatable/tragic traits whatsoever. i disagree with that. i rlly like villains that are genuinely awful and deserve their inevitable fates, and yet you can still feel sad for them anyways (but without wanting a redemption arc for them). i hope that belos ends up being a villain like that

Here are some of the pictures of the Minoan/Mycenaean look I did yesterday! Mind you, it's all very generalized since I haven't made any clothing studies from these time periods yet, so I had just grabbed random clothes and jewelry from my closet that I could at least pass off as the ~vibe~ . I went for a pretty simple interpretation of makeup back then and ended up not really putting a whole lot on my face before the decorative elements, just a very thin amount of white foundation, but even so I figured my skin is pretty pale as it is that if this were historical I probably would have just been fairly bare faced anyway in a similar fashion. I tried to stay pretty close to how makeup might be applied back then and not go too anachronistic, and if I did it was for photographic or artistic purposes (namely, light contouring on my nose not for any sort of like, modern feature minimization, but to make sure my own Greek ethnic features weren't flattened by lighting levels or camera perspective)

Overall this was a really fun exploration of historic culture! Seeing the finished makeup on myself kind of brought over this cultural euphoria for me, even though many things have changed since ancient Mediterranean civilizations, there's almost a feeling of sameness in exploring the history of your heritage and seeing someone who looks or feels like you in ancient art. (But also a brief little disclaimer: the Mediterranean has been an extremely diverse region for thousands of years! I'm just one way of looking and that absolutely isn't representative of all people of Greece, neither then nor now!) I want to explore more historical fashions within this realm, and next time try a more extreme version of the makeup, something that feels more on the ceremonial side than casual like this one.

I would like to remind people that Chilchuck hasn't seen his wife in 4 years.

So he maybe wasn't there to see his daughters become adults, but he was there for the majority of their childhood.

When he left, Mayjack and Flertom were 12, and Puckpatty was 10. They reach adulthood at 14, so maybe yes, he was absent when they were still kids, but that doesn't mean he didn't maintained contact with them afterwards as far as I know. The thing he uses around his neck was a gift from Flertom, and he was using it when he met Laios's party.

I feel like when you take into account that an "Elemental Power" is just what they call superpowers in Ninjago, it's way harder to get upset about bullshit powers like Mind, Speed, Reflex, Surface Tension, etc.

It's literally just Quirks from MHA, no need to go on a million rants on how every new element is the stupidest shit Ninjago has ever done.

Sure an "element" should be based more on like. Physical elemental things or whatever but. There's not exactly an infinite amount of elements to go around that they can make man they gotta just start bullshitting and frankly I support this endeavor.
