pirates of the caribbean but i've never watched it
I'm not even going to pretend to know what I'm doing here. *really bad pirate voice* aye maties let's be uh crimes?
I haven't watched a single movie of this franchise. I haven't even seen an edit. Here's all I've got:
These movies were a formative bisexual experience/bi panic for almost every bisexual. I saw it happen in Heartstopper.
Jack Sparrow is the main guy. He's hot.
Johnny Depp is in this, and I adore him, so that's a point in POTC's favour. Kiera Knightley is in this, and she is gorgeous. When is she not. I love her acting. Orlando Bloom is in this. I don't know who he is. He is rather pretty, though.
There is a man, a woman, and a pirate, played by Bloom, Knightley and Depp respectively. I know Tumblr, and I can already hear you now: Ah yes, the three genders, man, woman and pirate. Listen, you little shits, this is all I know. Don't come for me.
There's a guy with octopus tentacles coming out of his face, but not in a kinky way, I think. I really, really hope. He's the villain, but he's not. A small white capitalist man is.
When there is moonlight, they turn first-Twilight-movie-blue-saturated and dead. Except they're not dead, because they're not alive. It makes sense in the movies. I think.
There is jewellery involved. I'm not sure if it's a get-rich-quick scheme or something involving the undead.
The man and the woman are in love.
They, uh, do pirate things. There's a kingdom.
The woman is abducted and the man and her say romantic shit through the bars.
The woman threatens to throw a gold chain down.
Jack Sparrow says smartass shit and does his best to avoid doing the right thing and facing the consequences. What an icon.
Jack Sparrow has a jar of dirt, and it is important to him. He sings a song, though I can't make out if that is a fandom joke.
Feel free to educate me. You'll have to reblog this to spread it around so people can yell at me, though, because I have no idea what to tag this with.
“This is fucking shit,” Tommy announces, “let’s go home.”
Dream looks up, dismayed. He’s been following a crab along the beach in fascination for twenty minutes: in that time, Tommy had built a sandcastle— fuck that, a sand kingdom, only to lose it all when the tide had crashed over it.
“Tommy,” Dream says, “we just got here.”
“This isn’t even a real beach.” Tommy scowls at the pebbly, lumpy beach. The pebbly, lumpy beach scowls back. “It’s all stone-y, man. It’s stoned. Like a stoner. This beach does drugs, Dream. And I’m an impressionable young man. What would my mother say?”
“I don’t know. Let me ask her when I see her tonight.”
There’s a starfish stuck to Dream’s leg. Tommy wonders if it even knows what’s happening when he shoves at Dream, making the older man stumble with a protest. Does the starfish even know it’s stuck to the most insufferable person Tommy know? Does it understand that it’s picked a side of evil? “You’re a sick man,” Tommy tells him, “and I’m cold. Let’s go back. Look, we can grab fish on the way, and then head home.”
Dream straightens from gently detaching the starfish from his leg, brows furrowing. “You’re so weird,” he says, “why don’t you like the beach?”
Tommy pauses.
Is that what it is?
Is it the beach making his muscles ache? The fresh sea air turning his stomach, burdened thick with memories that slosh in his mind nauseatingly, memories he can’t quite grab onto? Is that why he feels building dread when he stares out at the endless ocean, dread that he’s stuck out here, dread that he won’t ever get home again?
Does he hate the beach? Is that why the sand sticking to his legs makes him lurch like a child learning how to walk, and why the cold breeze feels cruel against his cheeks? Is it just hate? Dislike? Why does he feel like there’s something bad about this place?
“Hey.” Dream is in front of him, face fallen. “Tommy?”
“Don’t.” The word leeches from his throat before he can stop it. He sounds pathetic. “Give me a fuckin’ minute, man.”
And his friend does. He stops and waits, sits beside Tommy when his legs give out, and doesn’t ask any questions. Tommy’s chest heaves up and down with the bitter stench of abandonment, and the waves lap at his heels in mean mimicry.
…Abandonment..?
“You good?” Again, it’s Dream that breaks the silence that’s beginning to tower around them. “Hey. What was that?”
Tommy swallows, feeling small.
“I told you,” he mutters, “I hate the beach.”
…Had he always?
Dream pauses for a moment, and then gets to his feet. He turns, offering the other a hand up.
“Let’s go home,” he offers.
And Tommy takes it with a twisted smile, and leaves behind the beach and memories of a worse life.
The majority of the season 1 kids are familiar with martial arts: Lark and Sparrow took karate, and Nick Close took Taekwondo (Nicholas Foster knows Krav Maga)

Masterlist
Marcus Hargreeves
-Marcus has definitely seen a panic attack growing up the way he did, and might not admit it but he’s probably had a few of his own so he realises what’s happening pretty quickly
-He’s no expert though, and while he tries harder than ever to keep his composure to ground you, seeing you like this makes him nervous, so he’s uncharacteristically jittery and uncertain at first, asking you too many questions that only make it harder for you to calm down
-He’s able to get a hang of it quickly though, he just needed to turn on his leader brain, then he’s able to talk you through some deep breathing and slowly get you communicating
-Still he remains angry at himself afterwards for his rocky start and makes sure to do his research on panic attacks so he’ll handle himself better in the future if this happens again
Ben Hargreeves
-Ben seems almost as scared as you are at first, but he knows he can’t freeze up and he isn’t going to leave you even for a minute so he tackles the problem head on
-He isn’t a naturally calm person, it’s taking all his self-discipline to keep his cool and not scare you away with a dumb outburst, it doesn’t help that it’s insanely hard to concentrate when he’s seeing you in such a pained state
-He gets you as focused as he can, keeping eye contact, and trying to get you talking about what happened or at least what you need now, and he’s actually a lot better at talking sense and getting you in touch with reality than he thought he would be
-He is the type to offer solutions and advice which may or may not be helpful, and despite how arrogant he may sound it is coming from a place of deep care, proven by his unusual softness towards you over the following days
Fei Hargreeves
-Fei notices your panic attack is coming on before any obvious signs, as soon as your response time starts lagging she checks on you, and leads you somewhere more secluded when she realises you’re starting to hyperventilate
-She already has such a calming but firm presence that you really need in a time like this, plus she was the wisdom to remind you to slow your breathing, offer you physical comfort if you’re not too touch-averse or keep a reasonable distance if you are
-Even though she’s had the years of practice needed to outwardly be very calm and practical, you did give her quite a scare, more than she’d admit to, and she acts almost kind of clingy in the aftermath
-She’s a lot more conscious of you after this, keeping an eye on you in potentially triggering environments, hoping next time she’ll be able to catch you before you start spiralling into a panic attack
Alphonso Hargreeves
-Alphonso is not the best person to have a panic attack around, he gets super uncomfortable when you’re just a little sad so he’s absolutely lost when you’re this inconsolable
-All his bravado just melts away and he’s so worried but eager to help like a desperate puppy, though he has absolutely no idea what he’s doing and is scared to make it worse
-Because of that he doesn’t actually do all that much but he stays attached to your side, cautiously rubbing your back and hoping you’ll eventually tell him what you need
-He can be pretty sweet and verbally affectionate in times like this, not without half-hearted attempts to lighten the mood with humour which could actually be helpful
Sloane Hargreeves
-It’s incredibly hard for Sloane to see you like this, she’ll tear up a little but stay stronger than she feels for your sake
-She’s a natural at caring for people, she’ll hold you if you give her permission and/or instruct you into a better breathing pattern and gently coax some words out of you
-She’ll let you vent if you need to and validate any sadness or frustration you have but she’ll also try to brighten your mood, get you talking about, happy, relaxing thoughts
-She absolutely dotes on you for the rest of the day, she’s either by your side or off getting something for you, and is just remarkably kind and gentle even by her standards
Jayme Hargreeves
-Jayme is not the most empathetic person, if it was almost anyone else she probably would of left it for someone else to deal with but it’s you so she takes it seriously
-Fortunately as a naturally stoic and straightforward person, she’s very in her element when it comes to keeping you grounded and talking you back to reality, she doesn’t even really have to try
-It’s actually refreshing the way she doesn’t make too big a deal about it or treat you like a bomb, she’s just there with you, following your lead
-Afterwards she wants to know what caused it, if it’s a person they’re getting the beating of their life, if it was something like crowds or noise she’ll do her best to shield you from those things in the future
Christopher Hargreeves
-Christopher is an expert at tearing people down, comforting them however is foreign territory, still he stays a lot stronger than many of his siblings would
-He resents his inhuman shape in this moment though, he usually doesn’t mind appearing cold and alien but now when he wants nothing more than to calm you it’s a real burden, he’s intimidating (or at least he certainly thinks so), he can’t offer any physical comfort, he can’t even use a soothing tone of voice
-But he’s a rational thinker, and so tries to talk you back down to earth quite pragmatically, though he’s notably gentler with his words than usual, and that combination of kindness and logic works wonders
-He feels a strange kind of guilt the next time he uses his power on someone, as he can’t help remembering you crying and hyperventilating when he sees his victim writhing around in fear
Can y'all believe that my Catholic papa's favorite character in this book is the tender-hearted drag queen who is openly himself in the middle of the 1940s? It really speaks to how great Luis is! Welcome to the stage Luis Diaz, aka Lucy Diamond or Guadalupe Angelo, everyone's favorite drag queen, uncle, or book club friend! Not afraid to call someone out when they're being an asshole but also not afraid to forgive someone when they've made an effort. He wears zoot suits and sparkling gowns with equal confidence. He lights up any room he enters. I adore him. As his playlist description reads:
The White House's drag queen. The only man Preston truly loved. Proudest one in the family. Unabashedly himself.

'Ello love. Decided to watch Pirates of the Caribbean yet? I can be your guide. Promise I'll keep you safe. *wicked grin*
Mate your url literally has "im dishonest" in it.
So yes clearly I trust you entirely. Time to do a Pirates of the Caribbean summary and then watch it, I guess, you leave me no choice with such charm and candour.
what’s something on your mind about tsp that no one’s specifically asked about but you want to share?
uuuuh this is a tough one bc i have many thoughts all the time and ADHD so they run away when i try to grab them without prompting.
I love the narrator's choice paralysis. I love it to pieces. and I love the idea that he CAN make choices but sometimes he's just really scared of the follow through aspect. he's always so intimidated of his own inadequacies and of rejection.
and Stanley again and again shows such patience and is such a grounding presence for him. the narrator KNOWS they need to leave the parable and he WANTS to but he is scared and Stanley, his best friend Stanley, says it's okay, I know it's scary, take your time, we go together or not at all.
And that! makes it so much easier for him! Stanley always makes things so much easier. the idea Stanley wants to do things WITH him and cares about HIM despite everything! he's not scared, can't be scared in the face of that.
Stanley makes choices so.... easy. because he gives the narrator the confidence to follow through.
So today, I decided I’d draw some fanart for a ao3 fic I’ve been obsessed with recently, return to sender (promise refused) by saintarchangel @unlimitedhorsepower
I really enjoyed reading this fic, and I suggest you go read it aswell! Send some love to this author, they deserve it!
thinking abt dove baek and how they've done a variety of illegal things to survive and they justify all of it bc it was for their survival right and as an adult they're avoiding breaking the law as much as possible bc they have to be a good influence for sparrow bc they don't want him to pick up any of their bad behaviors right but at the same time they're super nonchalant and open abt some of the stuff they did (there's some things that are going to stay buried forever thank you very much) so sparrow absolutely picks up on that energy and the first (and only) time dove has to come pick their son up after he's caught stealing they're incredibly upset – at him but mostly themself – and they fear for their LIFE bc it's totally going to be blamed on them and while karina isn't gonna hold it against them forever she won't be happy abt it and her parents will be even more upset.
meanwhile sparrow thinks he's done some cool shit and doesn't understand why everyone's not being chill about it
