Title: Loki Has A Couple Of Uncharacteristically Philosophical Realizations

POV: Loki

Context: This short takes place somewhere between Loki joining the crew and them rescuing Maiju

Loki was in the back of the jeep (as per usual; this crew certainly spent a lot of time in their jeep. To be fair, though, it was a good jeep). He was leaning against the window and the door, which vibrated against him, but he’d learned to get used to it. Besides, what was he going to do, not lean against the door? He certainly didn’t have good enough posture for that. 

Pixel sat next to him, behind Ron in the driver’s seat. Beacon was in front of him, in the passenger’s seat. It struck him then: the silence. It wasn’t like the silences he normally knew, the tension that normally permeated what he knew as silence was notably absent. Instead, there was a calmness, like an anesthetic kicking in, or sunset on the beach of an abandoned planet. There was a serenity, a comfort that he didn’t know if he recognized. 

He contemplated it for a minute, which was difficult, because Loki wasn’t very good at contemplating, but it seemed to pay off, because after that minute, he realized what it was about the silence that seemed so unfamiliar. This crew, these people… they were different from everyone he’d met at the Federation: everyone always trying to scale their way bare-handed to the top, or knock it down from the bottom like a goddamn lumberjack. No, these people were certainly different. Neogalactic Vagrant Crew 47-K were at home with each other. They knew a peace so rare Loki could probably sell it on the black market for more money than he needed to make this plan work out (which was saying a lot, because that was a lot of money.) Still, even if he could bottle up this extraordinary interpersonal peace, find some way to quantify and distribute it, he didn’t think that he would. This crew was something special. They’d built what they had: whether intentionally or not, and Loki had a feeling that it had something to do with Maiju: the crew member he’d never met, but probably knew the most about. 

Her impact was profound, and Loki found himself in awe. 

As he observed the serenity, he found himself wanting, for the first time in his life, more than just the lofty goal of taking down the Federation and changing the world for the good. No matter how off-puttingly bratty and selfish he came off as, this was the first time that he truly wanted for himself. 

Which was probably why he found himself doing what he did next more easily, less hindered. An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force, and Loki was living on a frictionless plane. He pulled out his phone from his pocket, and texted the girl. 

Hey. 

She responded in a few minutes. Supposedly she was leaning against her own door in her own new crew’s car (which certainly couldn’t be better than this jeep.), and supposedly, she didn’t give a shit about him. But also, supposedly, she gave enough of a shit about him to send him threatening text messages when all he wanted to do was get close to her. 

They had been close before, but Loki didn’t know what had happened. She’d turned cold (well, she’d always been cold, but she’d turned cold towards him, too). There was a time when they had been a dynamic duo, inseparable and always acing every assignment. He annoyed the hell out of her, he knew, but there was a part of her that loved him, too, he trusted. But one day, it was like that part of her had evaporated, and she left him in the dust. Her devotion to the Federation had become less being-manipulated-by-a-huge-government-like-corporation-into-doing-their-bidding-because-she-was-vulnerable-and-they-took-her-in-to-make-her-basically-a-child-soldier and more this-was-a-cult-and-she-was-trying-to-be-God’s-loyalest-disciple-for-some-sort-of-cosmic-gold-star-sticker. 

And no matter how bad she got, she was still Loki’s first real friend, and he wasn’t the kind of person who let go of things like that. He wanted her back, and that probably wasn’t smart, because she would rip him to shreds (definitely metaphorically, and maybe also literally), but he wanted her back anyway. He wanted to build what this crew had, but with her. 

In short, he was down bad (but, like, platonically. (Probably)).

But apparently, Thorn either didn’t understand that or didn’t care, and she was definitely mad at him about the whole helping-the-people-who-wanted-to-get-back-their-crewmate-who-murdered-a-federation-officer thing, because her text back was disturbingly threatening.

I also have Pan-Hypopituitarism which is the following: Adrenal Insufficiency, Hypothyroidism, Diabetes Insipidus, Precocious Puberty, Growth Hormone Deficiency, Hyperprolactinemia/galactorrhea, as well as High Estrogen and Testosterone issues. I have Pituitary Dwarfism/Proportional Dwarfism, Myoclonic Epilepsy, and a Speech Disorder. I used to have a Port-a-cath, Picc-Lines, and a feeding tube, amongst many other things. Phew, now that that's over. I love every art form with a favour towards music, writing and the fiber arts. I love seeing representation no matter how big or small especially in medias that rep is often glossed over!

I am a full time cane user at the advice of my physio. I am also a gay trans man and in full-time university studies.

Hey y'all! I'm Jess, and I use she/her. I'm 35, and I work full time behind the scenes in the grocery industry (in an office, designing shelf layouts!). I enjoy writing and reading slice-of-life stories mostly. I especially like exploring how certain magical elements can be parallels for disability. I also do art, including some 3D illusion chalk art. As for my disabilities: I have multiple sclerosis, and a few issues that have come from that, including severe permanent damage from optic neuritis. I was briefly 100% blind in my left eye, but a small amount of vision returned. The residual vision causes some hard-to-describe double vision, so I wear a completely opaque occlusive contact lens on my bad eye to help me see more clearly. I also had a period of time when I suffered from paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia, a rare movement disorder. I also have a body-focused repetitive behavior disorder (dermatillomania) and visible scars from that. I'm looking forward to being helpful!

So the main characters in this are

-Morro!! A former ghost, Revived via...well he doesnt know...but hes alive? (He/They)

-Ampu, Cursed dragonkin and Sorcerer (OC) (They/He)

-Bael, Cursed dragon (OC) (He/Him)

-Sparrow, serpent formling (OC) (He/They)

-Bow, Sunviper serpentine (OC) (She/They)

-Boreas, Ice Source dragonkin (OC) (They/He/She+Neo)

-Echo and the Fae, a group from one of the realms. (OC)

Our story starts about a month after the merge, Ampu is running their parents bakery after they disapeared. They, at this point, are still a human, though they know a little magic from a small time that they were really intrested in it. They, while hiking, they found a Cursed realm dragon and a skinny teen passed out in a clearing. though suspicious they try and wake them up and patch them up.

Morro has no clue how he was revived, but he does remember the flight away, he had grabbed a dragon and left. from where? he doesnt know. Why was the dragon there, and so willing for a stranger to ride it? He doesn't know.

As Ampu helps them back to health (Or so they thinks >:3) they gain a strong friendship with Morro, and Bael teaches them Dragonkin magic and Ampu eventually sees the changes starting.

A little preface: Dragonkin are a dual creation species, meaning you can either be born as one or turned into one. Dragonkin can present in multiple ways, ranging from fully human to fully dragon, and some can pick and choose. Mutation is extremely painful, due to your bones actually having to change.

However as time goes on Bael does not seem to be getting any better, eventually passing on and gifting his power to Ampu, speeding up his mutation.

So Sparrow is a wandering ronin from the Neverrealm, offering their services to anyone who needs protection. The headwear/cape they got during their choosing was stolen from them long ago. During their trek through the merged realms they have been likened to a hypnobrai many a time. Their wandering has lead to releasing the Sunvipers and taking on their current client, Bow, which throughout their travels they have gained a brother-like bond with.

Bow is traveling to learn more about the world and is very exited about all the cool clothes!

Both of them stumble upon Ampu's bakery and decide to settle down for a bit, taking on part time jobs there.

Ampu's magic capibilities are still growing and without a teacher they are really struggling! so they leave the Bakery in Morro and Bow's hands while Sparrow and Ampu set off to find a teacher.

Boreas is a Source Dragonkin. This sub-species of dragonkin were created directly by the Source Dragons to make sure that elemental powers and magic were regulated correctly, they were ageless and immortal but not invincible. Within the First realm they were taken on as leaders and for a small while worked as advisors for the FSM. Boreas eventually helped the FSM to balance and create the other realms. When Wu and Garmadon were born he worked as a caretaker and teacher. (theres alot more but i cannot be bothered to type it out)

Ampu asks Boreas to train them, so for a month they stayed there and trained with them, eventually traveling back with them and slowly moving into the town.

(This isn't all I have, but this is long- so this is what your getting. in short, there's some Morro character building, people from the cursed realm escapes, Sensei Garmadon makes an appearance, Ampu goes through more pain and Arin runs away and lives around the group for a while while figuring out some feelings about his training with Lloyd.)

Who’s your inner-system circle? Kaspar, Phisoxa, Aberle, Sumire, Koji, Prosper, sometimes the Harveys and, when it's Really a party, Oscar Wilde.

What do you look like in the inworld? Not too different than the outerworld! My skin is darker and my eyes are wider, rounder, and lighter. My mouth is wider and I'm a bit shorter-- about 5"5. My hair is split blonde and black, but in the inworld, I have a blonde streak on the black side and a dark blue streak on the blonde side.

What’s your aesthetic? I think y'all know. No, I'm a Victorian fop with a love of jewel tones, especially blue and gold. Sometimes I go more pirate, sometimes more vampire, sometimes a constellation-clad library goblin. But yes, I love neo-Victorian, ouji, fancy pirate, etc.

What’s your internal origin story? I was essentially an OC Phisoxa created to entertain his adoptive son. In the story he created, I was an androgynous AFAB German who moved to London and lived in a clocktower, before discovering I was actually dead the whole time. Then I was rekilled for being queer and "masquerading as a boy." (I reworked Phisoxa's original story because, no offense, but I'm the better writer. It's for sale!) Then Phisoxa decided that she wanted to bring her OC to life, and collected bits of souls, includling her own, to create my personality. Once Phisoxa had like, the rough draft of me, he stuck it into a clockwork crow, then a blue and gold pocket watch, with the idea that someone would find a body to fling me into. Phisoxa made me to have a creation with pieces of his own soul and to also have someone that will "break the cycle." See, there's a curse involving how we always end up with abusive people, in the inworld. Which has really OBVIOUS applications in the outerworld, when I look at it. (Phisoxa uses she and he, if you're confused.)

What’s your day-to-day life internally? Anywhere from brilliantly fun to insanely stressful. Sometimes, I'm in a castle and drinking cocktails and watching two centuries-old vampires banter about petty shit, sometimes I'm trying to talk someone out of committing suicide via magical/possessed means, sometimes I'm fighting for my life and actively feeling everything, sometimes I'm flying as a crow to the abandoned European building. It seems like it's always me involved in setting fires or putting them out. I live an old inn in Prague and work there for room and board. I also spend a lot of time in dimensional rifts and timelocked places since some of my favourite people are actually dead/ghosts in modern times.

What’s your day-to-day life externally? Taking selfies, writing, reading, promoting my work. I love exploring Rochester and taking walks, especially past anywhere that has a "no trespassing" sign. I love working at the bar and bantering with my hotel friends. I eat and breathe literature and love to rewatch some of my favourite shows. I do have good friends around here but we're all chronically under-spooned groundhogs that just lift up flags that say "I SUPPORT YOU' when none of us have the energy to text back. More often, I'll lock myself into my study and have a controlled breakdown about what's happened to me and suddenly a masterpiece comes out of my fingertips.

What do you wish more people knew about you?

What you see is what you get. I'm not as bad as whatever ex you're flashing back to, I'm not as good as you want me to be. I'm a selfish, aggrandizing, pun-wielding drunk with my head in the clouds, but I do my best not to be a hypocrite and not hurt the people I care about. You're not going to save me and I'm not going to save you, but we can at least trade jokes hunt for the art and romance in this fetid reality.

Some drabble for my Marian and her daemon. Settling- not always like in the movies.

In the books, the movies, the shows, a daemon’s Settling was always part of a big event. Love interests admitted their feelings. Worlds were saved. Villages burned down. Loved ones died. Marian and Torc, meanwhile, simply hadn’t fit the bill. They weren’t great heroes, their small rural town was fine. Their mother had died far too early for them to Settle, and even when Cory and Eshe had asked them to the school dance in sixth grade all Torc had done was flit between forms in excitement. No, they weren’t the star of a story on page or screen and so those moments weren’t for them.

No, they Settled in their sleep.

Torc had always done it, shifted while they were snug and safe in bed, deep in dreamland. Drifting off a puppy and waking up a fawn, or lizard, or fish. It wouldn’t have been too surprising a final form, really- one of their uncles had settled as a bass (“I’d always known they’d get themselves up into some trouble, with a shape like that.”) Not much would’ve been, to be honest. Their mother’s Neo had been a sparrow, always singing sweetly and wheeling at the edge of their bond. Father’s Godiva was a blue heeler, and their grandmother’s Rowan was a pallas cat. Not to mention the bass, and a stick insect, and apparently their grandfather had been a toad of all things (“Sweetest man in the world, but oh the things people thought when they saw her-”)

Nobody’d known what to expect for years, until Torc had slowed down and began sticking to reptiles. Everyone’d said snakes after that. They weren’t entirely sure why aside from their grandmother once taking time out of her day to praise snakes as a whole. Useful things, kept pests away from the crops and stores and livestock. Rowan had chuckled, patted Torc’s head where he sat as a lizard on her shoulder.

He hadn’t laughed when, at thirteen, he changed in their sleep and woke the whole house up with the crash of their creaky old bed shattering. They’d woken up in a bed of splinters and rubble and simply had to laugh at the absurdity of his massive, shelled form. There was nothing else to do. It wasn’t until the whole family had regrouped, made sure the two of them were alright, shaken heads at the state of their bed, decided the two of them would have to spend the rest of the night in with their grandmother and Rowan, that they’d realized he couldn’t change anymore. That Torc had Settled, as the largest tortoise any of them had ever seen, and they’d all missed it.

Sure, they’d gotten cake and a new bed out of the deal, but nearly twenty years and a lot of adapting later Marian was still indignant about it.

Writing Betrayal

Writing Betrayal

It’s the third act of the story, your heroes are in the fight for their lives (sometimes literally) and absolutely nothing must go wrong. But wait, someone close and important has decided to change sides.

CURSE YOUR SUDDEN BUT INEVITABLE BETRAYAL

The horror. The gut punch. The characters are now in even more dire straights. People may be dead.

Now, how do you, as an author, go about writing this to get the most reaction out of your audience?

Firstly, you have to write the character into the story.

No one is going to care about the third cousin once removed if he never appeared in the story before this betrayal scene. Your betrayer should be one of the main characters of an ensemble, or someone your main characters hang out with quite a bit.

The main characters trusted this character, we should too. They were friends. The reader should feel like this character is their friend.

Example 1: Cypher from the Matrix. Cypher was one Morpheus’ crew on the Nebuchadnezzar. Morpheus trusted him enough to have him handle setting up missions and standing watch keeping an eye on the Matrix. During the film, Cypher makes several come ons to Trinity, and expresses doubt to the new guy, Neo, about leaving the Matrix. (Foreshadowing) and is later shown actively betraying Morpheus to Agent Smith. Without those few scenes where Cypher is the ‘star’ of the movie, the betrayal wouldn’t have been as impactful.

Example 2: Elizabeth Swann from PotC: Dead Man’s Chest. Elizabeth is one of the heroes of the movies, if not the Heroine of the original Pirates trilogy. They follow her journey from a rather spoiled Governor’s daughter to becoming a pirate captain in her own right. We are constantly with her. She’s the good guy! And then, the kraken comes, the sailors have to leave the Black Pearl as the Kraken is after Jack Sparrow. And Elizabeth makes a choice, to betray her friend, the one in the last movie she stood between him and certain death and she MANACLES him to the MAST.

This betrayal of her own ideals and doing what is expedient over what is right is when Elizabeth truly becomes a pirate and has to spend the next movie fixing her mistake to assuage her guilt (Going into the cave of World’s End) before she can return and be willing to live on land again.

Secondly, give the betrayer a valid grievance.

When the betrayal pops out of nowhere because it’s an expected trope of whatever genre you’re writing, often the motivation of the betrayer is completely glossed over or not mentioned at all.

Your betrayer is the hero of their own story. They need to have a reason for doing what they are doing. It doesn’t really matter the reason. It can be as petty as they like, what matters is this reason is important enough to them that they are will to go against the people who love and care for them to attain it.

Of course, the betrayer may have never actually loved or cared for these people and just pretended. Valid option! Or maybe the betrayer isn’t betraying them at all and this is part of a grander scheme. Also valid option!

But there has to be a reason. “You didn’t pay me enough attention, give me the reward I thought I was due, I didn’t get the girl” are all petty but valid reasons.

Example 1: Cypher. Life outside the Matrix wasn’t what Cypher envisioned. He didn’t like the clothes, the food, and the accommodations. He wanted to go back into the Matrix even though it was fake. He was willing to kill everyone on the ship to do so. (Whether or not the machines would actually do this was never explored, though implied heavily they would betray Cypher in turn.)

Example 2: Elizabeth. She is facing the proverbial rock and a hard place choice! She either betrays Jack and leaves him for the Kraken and the crew is almost sure to survive. Or they take Jack with them and the Kraken ignores the Pearl entirely and comes after the life boat and they most assuredly all die. One life, or everyone’s life.

Thirdly, we need to like this character enough that we are rooting for them to not betray the main characters and be part of the team.

Likeability is a very alchemical thing. But if the character comes off surly, whiney, or downright skeevy (especially to the female audience) then it is less likely the reader is going to want that person to be part of the gang.

Example 1: Cypher. Okay, Cypher is not the best of examples because Cypher is honestly a bit skeevy. He hits on Trinity when it’s pretty clear she’s told him to back off already. However, when he’s talking to Neo about “why didn’t I take the blue pill” you and Neo don’t know if he’s just talking out his rear end or if he really means it. Cypher is trying to be friendly even.

Example 2: Elizabeth. She’s the heroine of the story. She’s done awesome things like parley with pirates, stab a pirate, sword fights, fake fainting to cause distractions. Basically, she’s been pretty cool the entire two movies as she sets off to save Port Royal/Will Turner in her noble way. This is excellent motivation!

Lastly, there should be some foreshadowing. OMINOUS MUSIC

This is kind of a culmination of everything before. Basically, you need to set up your betrayal. In order to set up the betrayal, the reader needs to spend time with the characters and they have to have a good shown motivation to betray the heroes. And we don’t want the betrayer to be twirling their mustache throughout the story because that doesn’t make the betrayal a surprise! There should still be clues. Things perhaps should be a bit off. Maybe there is a conversation about feeling underappreciated or they made the wrong choice. Maybe the character shows mild resentment. Or the heroes almost catch them in the act of doing whatever they are doing to betray them but the betrayer has an excuse to hand.

There needs to be something that the reader can go back through the story and go “ah, I see it now” before they’re finished.

Example 1: Cypher. Cypher and Neo have a conversation about Cypher’s thoughts on taking the ‘red pill.’ Cypher tries to frame it in such a way he’s encouraging Neo in the “we’re in this together” group think mentality. (Men do this a lot by assuming your thoughts on a subject when it is their thoughts they’re trying to impose on you in a bid to make you feel included.) You can’t tell at this point if Cypher means it or if he’s trying to figure out what Neo thinks or if he’s just talking. It is only later with the dinner with Agent Smith you find out he really does want to go back into the Matrix.

Example 2: Elizabeth. Elizabeth’s betrayal was foreshadowed more subtly than Cypher’s. Mostly by using a romance subplot where Elizabeth is torn between her love for Will and the feelings she has for Jack. The compass that doesn’t point north is the plot device here. (And the fact that Jack does return those feelings.) It’s her frustration with herself and in fact, with Jack combined with the intense need for everyone to survive, that has her throwing morals to the wind and betraying her friend Jack (and making Will think she no longer loves him because they don’t end up talking like adults. Ugh.)

There you have it, four pieces of advice to make your betrayals come off with plenty of emotional impact for the reader so it feels satisfying. This is, of course, all from the point of view of the good guys are being betrayed. If someone from the other side is betraying the bad guys, that’s a different kettle of fish entirely.

Breaks up have always been difficult for me…I use the word “always” as if I have been broken up with many, many times but, in actuality, I would say I’ve experienced actual heartbreak 3 times (I guess the third time was not the charm). I am not here to write my story about what happened or what didn’t happen in my fall out with the last person I was dating but, man, has it been hard to recover and heal from this break up. Jens Lekman once sang, “a broken heart is not the end of the world.” But, a breakup during a pandemic? That hits differently. Regardless, Jens was right: the world doesn’t stop for a heartbreak. So what does a person like me have to do to work through this separation? Compile a fucking mix.

I didn’t want to piece a break-up mix that was anxiously angsty or a flippant “fuck you” because everyone has their issues and traumas to work through and sometimes things simply just don’t work out. And that’s okay. Today marks a month since the breakup. I am so fucking lucky to have a community of supportive friends, family (dogs included) and a roommate and his cat to hear me out during this time. Oh, and my therapist! However, during the first two weeks of the break up, I turned into a living memory album that replayed every single bit from this past relationship. I cried at least once a day then, too. To seek comfort in these moments, I busted out my handy, dandy headphones to navigate myself through it all. I may no longer be a part of a partnership but I have music as my audio companion- that’s why I created a mix that would lift me up when my heart was feeling heavy (and, no, it’s not because of the pandan bread I made); I can’t be the only one experiencing heartbreak or grief during this time. And since I can’t give or receive hugs, I thought I’d give this a try.

This mix doesn’t have a name but there are some subtle mantras scattered throughout. I am so used to repeating positive affirmations to the students I work with that sometimes I forget I need words to live by too. And sometimes words aren’t needed when it comes to music. You just have to open your ears, feel the vibrations and hopefully you’ll feel something positive within yourself and the world. I understand that finding positivity in life right now is pretty bleak so I hope you are able to build upon your connections using an app(s) of your choice, video-chatting with someone whom you trust and can help you crack a smile, writing to someone that will actually write back to you in a timely manner or this- a collection of tunes to guide you wherever you are. So, “here is a mix” for you and I hope you know and feel it in your body as you’re dancing or tapping away that things will eventually be okay in time. Or maybe it won’t get better...I dunno but, at least you’ll have this to turn on if it helps.

Adam’s fate foreshadowed in the op?

A main theme in rwby v6 opening “rising” seems to be how everything in nature and life has a purpose and instinctively knows not just what that purpose is but also how to fulfill it. eg  he sparrow's born to fly, The mountains tower, The river knows to reach the sea, Rain will help the flowers be. (Y’all, I feel a piece coming up about that next bit “rain will help the flowers be concerning, you know it, mercury, emerald and hazel but that’s for a later time) You could see that as Adam being a plot device, having served his purpose as a major antagonist to Blake and Yang as well as their foil.

You could also interpret it as “this Adam (as he is now) has served his purpose”, I might be grasping at straws here but it might be hinting at something more. The op shows adam with a flag of the white fang even though Adam already lost their support and his character in v6 seems so detached from his former allies. He’s turned on them, they’ve turned on him, he has very little to do with the white fang anymore and the character itself doesn’t even mention them. He even says “Nobody hurt me quite like you(Blake)” indicating that the Adam we see in v6 doesn’t really care about his goals and ambitions within the white fang or the discrimination and abuse he’s gone through at the hands of humans but is obsessed with Blake. You could argue that’s why the flag is on fire and my next point is moot but the flag itself is not on fire, we see the flames over Adam as well. Fire might indicate passion, it can also indicate rebirth (a theme associated with a Phoenix, the creature that dies every day by burnign to a crisp and gets reborn the day after?), it might not just mean “Adam left the White Fang behind so he burned the flag” or sth.

And then there’s the lyrics over this part. Adam appears only once in this op, very prominently and long enough that you’d definitely notice him but also short enough that he isn’t at the front and center and he also only has one line of lyrics during his time in the spotlight: “the river knows to reach the sea”, this could again, be interpreted as I said before, Everything has its place and purpose and Adam serves his. But, we all know where Adam fell to his death:

That’s right, a river! Ha ha you say, that’s what this foreshadowing is, he falls in the river get it??? Yeah okay sure yet, the line isn’t just about the river. It’s about the river that leads to the sea, a really freaking large body of water. And guess what? There’s actually a sea pretty close to where the main characters are, where the fighting has been taking place these last three episodes or so.

If Adam somehow survived (very unlikely i do know) I feel like that “cinder and neo find him theory” might not be too far of a stretch. Cinder and neo have been following the protagonists, so they’re bound to be close, besides that it could mean Adam comes back entirely different. Whether that is because they make him undead and he’ll be part grimm or something else I don’t know. I do feel like the undead grimm route would be cheap, a way to keep his badass fighting style in but not the character itself (almost as lazy as just introducing an entirely new evil character with the same fighting style) so Idk what i’d think about that.

Because these anti-adam stans have been screaming one thing all along, I’ll adress it: “The adam we see, is the adam we’ve always seen besides the black trailer: an abusive crazed ex boyfriend character and you should judge the character you get.” I could go off about the fact that that still does not take away his backstory, the leadership position in the white fang he had for quite a while or basically, any argument that he’s badass but i’ll give them this: It’s true that the show does its best to show you a textbook case of an abuser, gives him the most over the top lines I’ve ever heard to establish him as manipulative and obsessed, it’s all true! this is Adam as he is on the show. Adam, as he is right now, in the show, is not an antagonist fighting for his cause, he’s exactly what you said he is. That Adam, in this story, has indeed served his purpose as a narrative foil to Blake and Yang (as in both of them, together). But he could still be a major force against Blake, not personally but by idealogy and Weiss most importantly, more personally as revenge for his brand. If they want to, with this foreshadowing and the way the story is going (hopefully a true faunus subplot in atlas, cinder and neo etc etc) that is: if they want to, there’s still a way Adam as a character could continue to be important. (To the anti’s: no not as the new protagonist or the main center of everything or as an example of the “easily forgiven” trope as you seem to suggest that is what every adam stan wants even though it’s really not)

Conclusion: Adam always had two major sets of characterisation to him. In the show itself, it was the manipulative, obsessed, crazed and abusive ex-boyfriend. As a background he always had his ideals as a faunus, his appearances and roles in characters shorts and songs made that very clear. (aka the “angsty morally grey idealogist and victim of abuse and hate crimes that all adam stans wanted him to be”). Adam isn’t just one or the other, he’s both but in the show, in the story as a narrative tool, he’s only ever been the first. That role he played, that purpose is done, “that Adam” is no longer needed and bringing “him” back would be ridiculous, make no sense, have no purpose and be extremely lazy. Without losing Adam as a character (a character with more than one side to him), can still play a major role in the upcoming story by first dealing with the side the show has shown (don’t just forget about it, it would cheapen everything that comes after) and then moving on to the side we’ve only seen glimpses of (but are definitely there)

Hotaru (first draft is finished)

- Abt two men that are linked through a surgery called “synchronisation”, which basically connects their minds and bodies, so they are forced to work as a team. Ea is an ex-soldier and Cain was a hacker, but due to the fact that they can’t stand each other, they also didn’t share their pasts with each other. To pay someone to unlink them, they become bounty hunters and kidnap the girl Ai and her robot Subaru, which is one of the old military robots, called Hotarus (high technologised, operating, transforming, artificial intelligence, ranger units). They are connected to a human ranger and can transform into what the ranger wants them to transform into.

The Hotaru headquarters exploded 10 years ago and since then the Hotarus are super rare on the black market.

The two men plan on selling both the girl and her robot and let’s just say it all doesn’t work out that well.

The day the world turned white ( first draft is finished, working on it)

To stop global warming some scientists basically caused a new ice age. On the long run this might be very effective but the former countries, now sectors, are hit by strong ice storms, called snow white. To stay safe huge bunkers, the Safe Cities, were built and the local fauna and flora were stored in Arks, to preserve them.

Usually an alarm sounds before all citizens are brought into the SCs, but this time Reese and her best friend Yuki dont manage to get to the vehicles on time and are left behind. They seek shelter in a private bunker outside of town that Yuki found out about recently. Suddenly a group of boys their age knocks on the door, because they were also left behind and followed the girls.

Al, the brothers Eli and Isaac, Gil and Henry become the new bunker-mates and the group has to survive one year in the bunker, until the storm is over.

About a group of rebels, the Sun Children, that are sworn enemies to the government and its ways to cope with Snow White.

Takes place abt one/two years after Tdtwtw.

Lucy and Aidan are kicked out of an underground organisation that stays in the cities underground system during the storm phases and the two wander around in the snow until Michael and Rin pick them up and bring them to the Sun Children. From looking into the snow directly to maneuver, Lucy has turned snowblind.

A story abt a clan of shapeshifters, called Indigos. They are basically human that can shift into dolphins and their clan lives on an island near Australia. Its a modern story and the gang consisting of our local gay dolphin girl Keerie, her cousins Akash and Arjuun (younger brother, older sis), and Ky ( adopted as a child, japanese heritage, a different breed of dolphin idk) lives their “normal lives” with lots of shenenigans and drama.

Some day Keerie falls in love with Navy, the daughter of the owner of the local Aquapark (that the clan suspect also does illegal stuff like snatching wild animals).

The script for a shortfilm i once made with my friends. A school class has a plane crash and only a few students survive, they all embody a different character archetype (the sunshine, the soziopath, the smart one etc.) They try to survive and are put through weird psychological mind experiments like the trolley problem.

To be honest, the concept had and still has a lot of potential and we just hadn’t the opportunities to rly set it the way we anticipated. The shooting day was super fun, though! Still laughing about the outtakes

Astral Chronicles (some art and a few chapters, unfinished)

A story Idea i still like but probably wont write like this because of copyright problems. Its basically a giant Crossover.

Its abt people who have an Astral( mostly a literature figure) they embody when they are dreaming. Their body stays in bed and is vulnerable but the Astral can basivally run around and has special powers. If the Astral dies, the person wakes up but i think when the body dies the person dies too? idk.

The Protagonist embodies Alice and there are also the White Rabbit, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell usw.

There was also some kind of conflict? I dont remember.

If i would ever rewrite it the Astrals would be embodiments of the Zodiac signs.

Actually super interesting but too many charas and a too tiny will to draw action scenes or write them.

Like its based around a super popular game in huge spheres/buildings and the teams wear some anti gravity outfits and shoes and can walk on the walls and shit and can basically attack using elements/illusion/ conjure monsters idk.

And the main team had an opponent team that basically specialized in the 25272 other elements and some day they just fused teams idk.

There also was some prophecy shit abt the anchors, ppl that can control all elements the same???? Idk

What do you look like in the inworld? Not too different than the outerworld! My skin is darker and my eyes are wider, rounder, and lighter. My mouth is wider and I'm a bit shorter-- about 5"5. My hair is split blonde and black, but in the inworld, I have a blonde streak on the black side and a dark blue streak on the blonde side.

What’s your aesthetic? I think y'all know. No, I'm a Victorian fop with a love of jewel tones, especially blue and gold. Sometimes I go more pirate, sometimes more vampire, sometimes a constellation-clad library goblin. But yes, I love neo-Victorian, ouji, fancy pirate, etc.

What’s your internal origin story? I was essentially an OC Phisoxa created to entertain his adoptive son. In the story he created, I was an androgynous AFAB German who moved to London and lived in a clocktower, before discovering I was actually dead the whole time. Then I was rekilled for being queer and "masquerading as a boy." (I reworked Phisoxa's original story because, no offense, but I'm the better writer. It's for sale!) Then Phisoxa decided that she wanted to bring her OC to life, and collected bits of souls, includkng her own, to create my personality. Once Phisoxa had like, the rough draft of me, he stuck it into a clockwork crow, then a blue and gold pocket watch, with the idea that someone would find a body to fling me into. Phisoxa made me to have a kid with pieces of his own soul and to also have someone that will "break the cycle." See, there's a curse involving how we always end up with abusive people, in the inworld. Which has really OBVIOUS applications in the outerworld, when I look at it. (Phisoxa uses she and he, if you're confused.)

What’s your day-to-day life internally? Anywhere from brilliantly fun to insanely stressful. Sometimes, I'm in a castle and drinking cocktails and watching two centuries-old vampires banter about petty shit, sometimes I'm trying to talk someone out of committing suicide via magical/possessed means, sometimes I'm fighting for my life and actively feeling everything, sometimes I'm flying as a crow to the abandoned European building. I can see the stars the best. It seems like it's always me involved in setting fires or putting them out. I live in a clocktower, but it's underfurnished, so I end up staying over at the houses of other people's than like. My own place. I also spend a lot of time in dimensional rifts and timelocked places since some of my favourite people are actually dead/ghosts in modern times.

What’s your day-to-day life externally? Taking selfies, writing, reading, promoting my work. I love exploring Rochester and taking walks, especially past anywhere that has a "no trespassing" sign. I love working at the bar and bantering with my hotel friends. I eat and breathe literature and love to rewatch some of my favourite shows. I do have good friends around here but we're all chronically under-spooned groundhogs that just lift up flags that say "I SUPPORT YOU' when none of us have the fucking spoons to text back. More often, I'll lock myself into my study and have a controlled breakdown about what's happened to me and suddenly a masterpiece comes out of my fingertips.

Do you have anything to say to Xhaxhollari? You don't have to overwork yourself and save everyone in order to be likable. You're actually just fucking likeable. You're funny, you're helpful, you actually make an effort to know us-- but you can take a step back without us forgetting you exist. Also, you're wicked smart, so you don't have to constantly prove you know everything.

Do you have anything to say to Sparrow? You're actually bloody cool. Sometimes you drink all my whiskey and sometimes you're rough around the edges but you're a quick study and you ask the right questions. You've been a huge help to the blog and podcast and I'm glad you're a lot more social than you used to be!

What do you wish more people knew about you?

What you see is what you get. I'm not as bad as whatever ex you're flashing back to, I'm not as good as you want me to be. I'm a selfish, aggrandizing, pun-wielding drunk with my head in the clouds, but I do my best not to be a hypocrite and not hurt the people I care about. You're not going to save me and I'm not going to save you, but we can at least trade jokes hunt for the art and romance in this fetid reality.
