Nina gets obsessed with knitting, especially since she and Matthias are living in fjerda now.

She LOVES to knit him sweaters bc of how cold it is and although he insists that he’s used to it, he still wears them anyways bc she made them for him.

In fact, the first one that she makes him he actually wears too much, to the point where Nina has to almost beg him to take it off bc it’s getting dirty and he’s going so far as to sleep in it bc he never wants to take it off.

But he does comply bc she’s right it’s FILTHY.

She’s knit Matthias alone over 50 sweaters and he tries to wear them all bc he loves how her face lights up when she sees him wearing one.

Even if they’re visiting Ravka in the dead of summer guess who’s wearing a sweater? Matthias.

She also knit him a hat with wolf ears on it. He never takes that off either.

She knits all of the other crows sweaters as well, and although they don’t wear them as much as Matthias does, they do wear them a lot.

She makes Inej a deep purple cardigan because she knows that being on the ocean can get cold sometimes. Every time Inej puts it on she thinks of Nina.

She makes Wylan and Jesper matching sweaters, Wylan’s yellow and orange and Jesper’s neon green and brown. Whenever they see Nina, they wear the sweaters. This includes to Nina and Matthias’ wedding.

She knits Kaz a bright pink turtleneck sweater just to troll him. He acts annoyed, but she can see in his eyes that he’s not. Jesper tells her later that he’s seen Kaz wearing it multiple times.

Matthias decides he should learn to knit too so he can make Nina stuff as well, but finds out he likes crochet more.

He gets HOOKED (pun absolutely intended) and starts crocheting things for all of the crows.

Of course, he makes sweaters for Nina and soon every gift they give each other is a sweater.

He also makes gifts for all the crows, although much different gifts than Nina made.

He makes Inej a knife holster. She doesn’t wear it super often bc she has other methods of carrying her knives, but she makes sure to wear it around him bc he smiles so big when he sees her wearing it.

He makes Jesper a neon green scarf to match the sweater Nina made him. He wears the scarf every time he wears the sweater, even if it’s the dead of summer.

He makes Wylan gloves “to protect his hands from the chemicals.” Wylan nearly cries right there on the spot and any time he’s doing any chemistry work, he wears the gloves.

He makes Kaz a little cover for his cards that he uses for his new card magic tricks. Kaz won’t admit it but he almost hugged Matthias. Almost.

Matthias also found a passion for poetry and starts writing a ton of love poetry about Nina, which she adores.

When the two of them get married his vows are completely in poetry.

He also writes poetry about the crows but it always sounds like love poetry bc that’s what he’s best at.

Nevertheless they still love it.

Already posted this on Bluesky, and I like it so much you get to see too. I don't usually take good photos. That's mostly bc I'm a) too cheap and lazy to bother keeping up with the latest tech, and b) too slow on the draw to catch good shots. I always get entranced by the ephemeral moment, start thinking the kind of weird-ass thoughts that sometimes lead to novels, and then I remember to grab my cellphone ten minutes later.
