spyrograph commented on 2nd-rate-film-school's post “So I just got my hands on some of the letters written to writers...”
Quark gets Jadzia pregnant. The political and financial ramifications of this are staggering. In a desperate attempt to undo his “mistake”Quark travels back in time to warn himself. Quark, seeing his future self assumes that the double is a changeling. Nog is taking a class on Federation extradition procedures. Nog attends a hearing for Tom Riker (having escaped) should be returned to Cardassia. Witnesses include Gul Dukat and Captain Picard.

15. “Was that supposed to hurt?”
“Elim.”
Garak has always hated those two syllables of his given name. For the bulk of his life, anyone who’s known that name of his has been someone willing to wield it as weapon: Tain, mostly, but Mila, too, when she felt it needed. Bashir, the dear man, had once seemed to have absorbed this – and yet now…
“Elim. Elim Garak!” An altogether unpleasant shove at Garak’s chest, a pause, a shove again. “Don’t leave me here.” A ragged inhale, the sort that would usually leave Garak leaning in, concerned – but now he is too much drawn in by silence, by dark. By rest.
Bashir swears. He steps away from Garak’s body, and for a moment, Garak thinks absolution is his. But, somehow, Bashir’s voice chattering in the distance still registers to him. A command to the ship’s computer. A ragged, terrible pain in the center of Garak’s chest – him gasping as he tries to free himself of it – Bashir holding him by the neck (dear man.)
In his last moments of consciousness, Garak manages to say, “Was that supposed to hurt?”
And Bashir cupping his face with one hand, miserable: “No, Garak, no–”
*
Garak wakes while the Infirmary is possessed by utmost calm. One of the Bajoran nurses stands at his bedside, hmming to herself. “Welcome back,” she says. She draws a tricorder over where he lies in the biobed, even though the biobed should be monitoring him. “Please, Mr. Garak, relax.”
He does, less because he’s been instructed to and more because he’s weakened enough that *resting*, moons forbid, seems the only thing he’s capable of.
There are countable breaths between his waking and Bashir arriving at his bedside. Bashir pushing his fingers through Garak’s hair, cradling his head in his hands, crying?
What a Human weakness, Garak thinks, even as he leans into the touch.
“Garak, don’t do that to me,” Bashir says; he leans in to press his face against the side of Garak’s head. “Prophets, Garak.” His fingers contract unpleasantly against the back of Garak’s skull.
And yet the touch is welcome.
Garak leans into it. Revels in knowing this young man knows too much about him. Revels in pretending. “Doctor,” he mock-guesses; Bashir takes his face in both hands. Bashir kisses him.
It shouldn’t be unexpected. It’s unexpected. The warmth of the Human’s mouth, the immediacy – even were Garak in full health, could he be expected to resist? Oh, no; he yields; he leaves himself open for Bashir’s taking.
After long minutes, he finds himself dazed, Bashir’s fingernails digging into his scalp, Bashir humming to himself.
Garak should be more alert than this. More suspicious.
And yet after an accidental poisoning, he’s too willing to yield to Starfleet’s care. So long as Bashir is amongst Starfeet’s numbers.
To allow this humiliation of being cared for – of collapsing – it’s easier, knowing Bashir is waiting.
For now, at least.

had that on VHS as a kid
Isn’t it a great little movie?  I bet it’s why I love donkeys so much.  There was this old video store that had it way back in the day and I always begged to rent it when we went.

spyrograph replied to your post “i’m bored, send me garashir prompts.  I’ll answer them tomorrow :) ”
Garak and Julian are abducted by aliens with no sense of personal space. Julian is excited about a first contact situation! Garak is decidedly not excited about all this 'contact'.
@spyrograph
Sorry i took so long to write this  :) Hope you like it! As always, please reblog and give me a heart :) Comments are welcomed!
Julian was beside himself with joy, arms suspended high in the air as the short aliens poked and prodded at his body with their tiny hands. More than once had had to stop himself from chuckling, as the creatures came  close to his sides were he was very, very ticklish.
But he bit his lip and allowed the touching to continue, quite pleased with himself. It wasn’t every day that he managed to find a new species, and be invited into their homes, and be greeted with the species welcoming ritual.
Part of him considered their abduction a blessing in disguise.
He could already see it. Dr. Julian Bashir, going down in history as one of the federation officers who made first contact with the friendliest species in the Gamma Quadrant.
Well, Dr. Bashir and Elim Garak.
However, Garak was not enjoying himself, in the least. And had glared daggers in Julian’s head as the human urged him to put his hands up in the air too.
“You’re enjoying this a little too much, my dear,” Garak hissed, as he fought the urge to instinctively step back as the fuzzy creatures continued their assault on him.
“And you aren’t? It’s not everyday that you discover a new species Garak, a friendly one at that.” “Doctor, we’ve only been here for a ten minutes, for all we know they could be preparing us for a meal.”
“Or it’s just their way of saying hello,” Julian objected, “besides,  Captain Sisko and the others know our coordinates, so if they do try to eat us, we’ll be fine.”
“You Starfleet officers and you enthusiasm. It’s going to get you killed--please do not touch the scales on my neck,” Garak advised, “I’m very, very sensitive there.”
Reluctantly, the creatures retracted their claws from his neck. They very much enjoyed the sensation of his scales underneath their fury palms, that much Julian could tell.
“Are you the same species?” Asked one, as they moved in between Julian and Garak, “your skin is very different.”
“Do we look li--” “No--”Julian chimed in, quickly, “No we are not. I’m a human, terran. That’s why my skin is soft.  Garak is a Cardassian. Cardassians have scales”
“Do humans like being touched more?” Asked another, “The Cardassian seems to draw back whenever we greet him.”
“We’re very...private individuals,” Garak answered, sighing in relief when the aliens backed off, “A handshake will do just fine.”
Enthusiastically, the short alien stuck their hand out, eagerly awaiting Garak’s. Hesitantly, the Cardassian offered it to him, only to groan when the alien took the opportunity to slide his hand up arm.
“The scales go all the way up your arm? Do you have hair like the human?” Garak groaned and rolled his eyes. Julian laughed.
It was going to be a long, long day.

5. Quark - What’s your favorite drink? (alcoholic or otherwise)
I like Italian sodas. Also can’t fail with orange juice. The true comfort drink is hot chocolate though, especially that minty hot chocolate stuff. Good stuff..
My actual favorite???? Uhhhhhh. No matter the season you can’t fail with orange juice.
Edit: I meant peppermint hot chocolate. It’s something commonly made at places like starbuck’s during the winter season (read: Christmas hell season) and they’re the only thing worth while before the actual holiday honestly. I’m bad at explaining things.

@spyrograph replied to your post “actually, the fact that Ezri chose to be joined to Dax despite the...”
I think that being a councilor was a big factor as well. She was probably a very well-grounded person before joining (since being joined causes a shift in personality in people who have literally spent their whole lives preparing for it, i'd imagine that doing so cold-turkey would really screw with a person's sense of self). Honestly wtf was Starfleet thinking just letting this person who was for all intents and purposes BORN YESTERDAY stumble into a war zone???
but, yeah. The fact that she's willing to go through this massively life-altering experience for the sake of the Dax symbiote would have been the deciding factor.
I think Ezri Tigan was a rather headstrong young woman, mostly because of her family background: she survived with a terrible mother who constantly berated her and tried to mold her into someone she didn’t want to be, and two useless brothers; then she left home as soon as she could to join Starfleet (which isn’t exactly the most safe career in the Federation). That’s not something just anyone could do! I honestly admire her determination. Perhaps she also chose to become a counselor because of her background but we never learn the reasoning behind her choice, because yes, the joining with Dax turned her sense of self completely upside down. The novels make her even switch career path post-canon.
I think you’re right though that Ezri Tigan already showed signs of being able to handle Dax.
And as for her being so young in a war zone... it’s probably an unfortunate consequence of all the terrible losses in the ongoing war efforts, Starfleet probably couldn’t afford to be choosy about who to send on starships.

Some Guillermo and Nandor shenanigans for spyrograph on Pillowfort!
[Image Description: Digital fanart of Guillermo and Nandor from What We Do in the Shadows. Guillermo stands dramatically with his foot planted on something in the foreground, looking seriously off into the distance. His left hand is clenched by his side and he holds a stake in his right hand. Behind him, Nandor stands in a doorway with his arms folded and his brows furrowed. There is a question mark near his head and he is saying "fucking guy..." /end ID]

spyrograph replied to your post: myinkandtrees: If Garak and Julain got stuck  in...
also: Garak knows how to AVOID being in a fight and does so at every opportunity. Julian isn’t quite that savvy. He’s absolutely the guy who throws himself into a fight because it’s the most proactive way to defend his friends. Julian isn’t a brawler though, like. I’m positive he hurts himself on more than one occasion by throwing a punch terribly.
yes yes all of this!!
also im losing my mind imagining julian sourly running a dermal regenerator over his own busted knuckles after a barfight while miles laughs at him for being unable to throw a proper punch
iirc he does actually wince after punching a klingon in trials and tribble-ations...........bless
