I had send a ticket to Ao3 with the suggestion to add "QPR" for Queer Platonic Relationships and "VS" for Antagonistic Relationships.
The message:
This message is to suggest two new type of fanfics categories. "QPR" for Queer Platonic Relationships and "VS" for Antagonistic Relationships. The character relationship would be "Character A ~ Character B" and "Character A vs Character B".
Idk if they will add them to the archive but no harm in asking.

As one of the two people who managed to get otw-archive running on the open internet who is not OTW, I'd like you -- the public, the number of people recently saying 'make your own using their software' -- to sit down and try it.
While I strongly appreciate that message, being a firm believer in independent archives and a decentralized fandom umbrella, I can guarantee the people typing that as a 'gotcha' to the antis -- who are reprehensible at the best of times -- are not one of the people who got otw-archive running on a server with actual humans using it because there are only two of us. And again, I'm one of them. @squidgiepdx is the other.
There are only two of us because it's a viciously badly optimized disaster of software involving so many running processes in so many different languages that it took me fifty hours of work just to get it marginally functional and many more dedicated hours since then maintaining it. It constantly runs at 95% RAM usage on our server. I have a beautiful single-fandom archive for the effort, but by god, I am so, so tired of people who know jack shit of what they're talking about pretending like it's as easy as unzipping a package and making it run.
SquidgeWorld took so fucking much work. Walter did that. Ad Astra took so fucking much work. I did that. And we are both willing to help other people do that! We are both incredibly happy to offer our time and expertise to anyone else who wants to help us become more than TWO PEOPLE OUT OF SEVERAL BILLION to make that software run for archives that don't belong to OTW.
But stop pretending it's easy. That casual dismissal diminishes the amount of time, effort, frustration, tears and dedication that Walter and I gave to make our archives happen. I can't stand antis either, but boy, the amount of entitlement in fandom isn't gonna get better by ignoring how hard it is to make and build and maintain communities, especially in this world where you can't even get people go type 'Extra kudos' into a fucking comment box.

I have, with reluctance, finally archive locked all my fics on Ao3 and SquidgeWorld. With yet another round of AI scraping having gone on, it was just time to do it.
I still have Ao3 invites that I can give out if someone wants to sign up if the wait time gets long. And SquidgeWorld doesn't have a wait list for sign ups. So if you've been lurking on one or both of these sites and enjoy my fics, maybe it's time to consider signing up.
If you've left guest kudos or a guest comment, you've made me smile. I've always wanted anyone to be able to read my fics regardless of having an account. So barring guest readers from my fics wasn't a choice I made lightly. But I'm tired of learning my works have been treated disrespectfully by being scraped so someone else can pretend my words are theirs.
You can still back my works up for offline reading - but you have to be able to log in to one of the sites to do it.
That said, what's on FFnet will continue to remain up and thus accessible to readers and AI scrapers alike. But I haven't updated there in quite some time and have no intention to post there anymore so at least anything new I write is safe for the moment. I'm not quite ready to take all the fics there down but I can't guarantee that won't change.
I've noted before that locking fics isn't 100% protection from scrapers. All it takes is someone with a login and patience and they can still scrape off the site. After all, if FanFicFare can do it to back up fics for offline reading then a determined dev scraping for AI purposes can do the same thing. It's a better than nothing solution, but it's not a guarantee. But at this point I'm tired enough of the AI scraping problem that I'll take that better than nothing for now.
Now, if anyone else is considering locking their fics it's actually an easy process to lock all fics simultaneously. How? Log in, go to your works page, and at the top there should be a button for 'Edit Works'. This will take you to a page for choosing fics to bulk edit. You'll want to click the button that will select all your fics and then the edit options. There's a button to delete and orphan too so BE CAREFUL. All caps warranted.
once on the edit page, it'll list out all the fics you're editing first. If you have a lot of fics, you've got a lot of scrolling to do to reach the actual editable options. But once you do, you can easily set your entire set of works to private. Then just leave the tab open while it processes, go do something else for a bit, and then check back later to see all your fics are locked now. On your works page, they'll each have a little blue lock icon by the title.
If you don't have a lot of fics, it's a fast process. If you have 600+ fics like I do, it's gonna sit there processing for a bit. (If you have more than 600+ fics, I salute you. But it's gonna take a while to lock them all.)

Okay so for a comments scroll box, this works on ao3, Superlove, squidgeworld and Ad Astra btw
the code is
div#feedback {
position: sticky;
bottom: 9px;
margin: auto;
z-index: 20;
}
#feedback textarea.comment_form{
min-height: 5em;
}
#kudos {
display: none
}
Or
div#feedback {
position: sticky;
bottom: 9px;
margin: auto;
z-index: 20;
}
#feedback textarea.comment_form{
min-height: 5em;
}
The bottom one will display all the names + guests who left a kudos, the top one won't. It works with other skins and all devices. You can play around with it if you want different height.

I have posted my first 3 chapters of 'Thicker Than Blood' which is a Vampire AU involving characters from the JJK fandom. (i noticed that others are using ao3 still, i'm not updated on everything on what happened with that but i'll continue using squidgeworld i suppose for my longer stuff. i would just post it on tumblr but for whatever reason it never fucking likes me posting long things...maybe i'm doing something wrong lol) Reader is first with Naoya, and then it transitions from that to her being with Toji. It may seem a bit non-vampiresque at the moment but it's because I wanted to do a full tilt shift of reader breaking away from Naoya. Please mind the tags, and feel free to comment, leave a kudo, whatever you like!

I know I already shared this fic on here before via ao3. But if you want to read it on this site, you now can! And if this is your first time seeing my fic, that’s even better!
Please leave kudos and comments on the site. And like and reblog this post
Thanks!!

I’m up on ffnet but I honestly don’t trust it to last, since the admins barely do anything for the site anymore. We ought to try to spread our fics and reading materials out among many sites, in case ffnet dies and Ao3 gets attacked by Russians again. I was considering trying Squidgeworld, which has a similar tagging system to Ao3′s.
You young’n’s might not know much about doing this, but back in the day, members of a fandom had to go to personal sites in order to find things. We really ought to bring that back personal sites and fandom shrines, even though they don’t have shiny comment and kudos systems. If there are sites that host just a few kinds of fic or only the personal works of one author, that isn’t really a bad thing. It just means you’re trying new things and authors you might skip over on Ao3 because they don’t specifically write about your rarepair or whatever.
day 1 without ao3: i have gone through all 5 stages of grief multiple times and have invented a 6th. i will not disclose what the 6th stage of grief is.

I've seen a few people mention moving their works to squidgeworld.org as an alternative to ao3 now that the ai policy has been made clear, and was wondering if you have any info on it?
--
A delightfully venerable site!
Squidgeworld is the latest incarnation of the Wonderful World of Makebelieve, which has been running since 1999 (1994 for the overall site). It's where all the oldschool slashers used to post.
It's an old-fashioned archive run by one dude, @squidgiepdx.
And by that, I don't mean the coding is old but that it's a site run by someone whose actual personal account you can find and interact with and that has a moderate audience of a size where individual site culture is still possible.
Though, actually, it looks like the whole site (which includes hosting for more than just this one archive) is now a nonprofit, so that's nice for longevity.
I don't crosspost because I am lazy, but I have fond memories of all the fic I've read there, and I appreciate that he's still doing his thing in this era when lots of people abandon running a site themselves to cluster on ever fewer behemoths.
If you're looking for maximum kudos from randos, AO3's larger audience is what you want, but I think it could be excellent to take your buddies and all decamp to Squidgeworld together.

Alrighty, so who here likes the Floaty Review Box on Ao3?
Probably a whole lot of you. I personally use this version here which does the floaty review box, additional buttons for first/last chapter for a fic, and kudos sortable bookmarks. Admittedly I don't really utilize that third option, but the first/last buttons are of great usefulness to me so that plus the floaty review box make it one of my favorite scripts to use with Ao3.
However, I also want that functionality on SquidgeWorld. Which, since SquidgeWorld is an Ao3 clone where the user interface is concerned... It's actually pretty simple to make the script work for SquidgeWorld too.
If you use Tampermonkey to handle your custom scripts too, then it should be pretty easy to open the script in the editor. Open the Tampermonkey's dashboard, click the script in question, and voila. Edit page. At the top there should be a tab labeled "Settings". Go there.
Scroll down to a section called "Includes/Excludes" - this should already have the built in includes/excludes for the script listed there. Specifically for the script I linked above, you should see entries for "Original Matches" and "Original Excludes". They should all mention archiveofourown - you want to copy all these over to a notepad and replace archiveofourown with squidgeworld and then add them to their respective "User Matches" and "User Excludes" sections.
Once those are added and you've saved the changes, go check out a SquidgeWorld fanwork - such as Silence in the Night (part of a Buffy the Vampire fic series I have available on both Ao3 and Squidgeworld) - and you should see the floaty review box button, the last chapter button, and the first chapter button.
Pretty cool huh? And you should be able to do this for the majority of scripts used for Ao3. So long as Ao3 isn't directly referenced in the script code itself beyond the include/exclude/matches at the top of the script, there's no reason not to give it a try.

So Ad Astra’s otw-archive is now up and running, and opening for public beta!  This was absolutely a labor of love and community; I owe Walter from SquidgeWorld and lassarina from Asp’s bar for the invaluable help in getting this massive thing sorted.
Before you join, here are a few things I really need and want you to know:
1.) We’re a Trek fandom archive, so we’re not really for any other fandoms unless they’re crossovers.
2.) We’re not AO3 when it comes to tagging fics.  We’ve had strict tag discipline for fourteen years for a reason. So before you post, please -- please I’m begging -- read the FAQ about posting and tagging.  Even if you skip the others (which, you shouldn’t, there’s some nifty stuff in them!), please read and respect that one.
3.) If you join, please don’t go too fast on moving all your Trek fanworks over?  Only because I’m one single person wrangling this thing and because I really intend to visit each fic that lands on the archive to give it attention.  I might fail in that goal, but I’d love to achieve it.  Which brings me to the last point:
3.) Ad Astra’s shining quality has always been how interactive, collaborative and supportive we are as a community.  So, consider joining in on that!  Post your works and support others in theirs via comments and kudos.  Shamelessly self-promote on your blogs or our forums, but consider also promoting others.  Think about joining our forums and D/iscor/d, too, because we would love to have you.  (Yes, you!  You, that Trekkie over there side-eying me.)  We do weekly writing challenges, and I’m planning on running a Review Hunt, too!  This community shines its brightest when we’re lifting each other up.
4,) There are still bugs I’m working out.  If you find one, tell me and I’ll see what’s going on!  But it really is pretty functional in the meantime. XD
Anyway, with all that said:
Ad Astra :: Star Trek Fanfiction Archive
Come on over. <3  And yes, please signal boost this post!
