More relationship types: Queerplatonic, Antagonistic, Non-Binary/Male, Non-Binary/Female, Non-Binary/Non-Binary. Also more archive warnings.

If you have a series of Original Works they can be tagged as a Custom Fandom. Here are mine as example.

There is less delay in wrangling a new fandom compared to Ao3. No more 1 month+ waiting for very obscure fandoms to get wrangled!

Languages can be added to the archive upon request.

And no need to get an invite to have an account! Now you need one because of spammers and bots.

Languages List Update.

Spanish (Español) – LatAm is gone due to negativity. I felt bad for having requested it in the first place. I was confused between writing and video game localizations since those use both Spanish dialects.

New languages: Esperanto, toki pona, Greek and Norwegian.

I'm the primary mod of SquidgeWorld Archive, and have somewhat been absent from Tumblr because of all the bullying that occurs here. For example, I got an email from someone that said, "You need to go look at this post on Tumblr," and it turns out the person who sent me that email wanted me to know that they had called me a "Piece of shit" on Tumblr.

Doesn't make for much of a pleasant experience, does it?

That said, I would appreciate if people have issues or questions about Squidge.org, SquidgeWorld, Squidge Images, or any other service that Squidge.org has been giving - for free - to the community for the last 30+ years, please come to me. Either here or in a support request.

Is something up on Ao3 rn? Cuz no matter what part of the site I go to, I keep getting the Error 500 message. I checked the Ao3 support page, and still got the message. Went to their twitter and nothing's been posted since last year. And I can't find anything official saying what the problem is or when it might be fixed.

The only things I could find was Downdetector which tells me that other people are having the same problem.

EDIT so I've signed up and its literally the same interface as ao3, just with a better default color scheme lmaoo

can now confirm they their TOS clearly prohibits AI scraping + they have a policy to ban commenters that harass creators (even on anon)

Squidgeworld is not as known as Ao3 but you can have your OCs as tag wangled, same thing with custom fandom. You also have Queer Platonic and Antagonist relationships categories. New fandom are added faster then on Ao3. Squidgeworld forbid AI content. I like Squidgeworld better but sadly it cannot compete with the giant Archive Of Our Own.

I heard of SquidgeWorld only today and I decide to check it. And so, what I do think?

Has anyone used SquidgeWorld Archive ( https://squidgeworld.org/ ) to read/post fanfictions ? Apparently it's exactly like Ao3 but with a clear position against AI :

It sounds nice ! I love Ao3 but indeed it doesn't mention AI, simply stating that "AI generated works are allowed". So it's good that at least some fanwork websites are addressing the issue ! Hopefully Ao3 will release a clear rule against web scraping / machine learning for all posted works.

Now if you're wondering what is available right now on SqWA, I haven't checked all my favorite tags yet. If you're planning on writing something, maybe give it a go ?? So we'll have more to look forward to !

A delightfully venerable site!

Squidgeworld is the latest incarnation of the Wonderful World of Makebelieve, which has been running since 1999 (1994 for the overall site). It's where all the oldschool slashers used to post.

It's an old-fashioned archive run by one dude, @squidgiepdx.

And by that, I don't mean the coding is old but that it's a site run by someone whose actual personal account you can find and interact with and that has a moderate audience of a size where individual site culture is still possible.

Though, actually, it looks like the whole site (which includes hosting for more than just this one archive) is now a nonprofit, so that's nice for longevity.

I don't crosspost because I am lazy, but I have fond memories of all the fic I've read there, and I appreciate that he's still doing his thing in this era when lots of people abandon running a site themselves to cluster on ever fewer behemoths.

If you're looking for maximum kudos from randos, AO3's larger audience is what you want, but I think it could be excellent to take your buddies and all decamp to Squidgeworld together.

I wanted to ask something about ao3

I wanted to post some fanarts and drawings in general, however, i've heard that it's needed a hosting site to host the images there apparently

So, if you could, can you tell me an advice or provide a site to host the images there?

Your very best bet is to pay for your own hosting (buy a website and storage space of your own) and upload your art to that. We pay under $100 a year for a domain and personal hosting.

However, your second best bet is https://images.squidge.org/ which is a fannish image hosting site that is a sister site to https://squidgeworld.org/ a fanfiction archive alternative to AO3. @squidgiepdx runs it!

Once you upload an image to squidge you should be able to link it anywhere, including to AO3!

AO3 users (and fanfic writers/readers in general) how are we feeling about Squidgeworld.org?

For those who are unware, squidgeworld.org is essentially just AO3 but doesn't allow AI fics or AI-made content. Other than the no-AI filtering and yellow/orange colour choice for the site design, the site is basically the exact same as AO3, right down to the website layout and publishing options.

Do you think a rise in AI-created content is worth making a completely new fanfiction site over?
