some takes.

1 episode was good. Buck and chim on the roof scene was great and Athena storyline was good. Hen and Karen :( and in terms of the Buck of it all he’s clearly like repressing everything and going to explode soon. Hopefully at or with eddie or something… There will be time for everyone to have big grief moments but this episode was clearly about Athena and chim, and about the anger stage, in a way that felt really appropriate and good storytelling.. 2 me!

2. The whole episode plot was Alive Bobby propaganda #to me. Empty casket. “The government are taking ages to give us his body…” setting up for Athena- and the audience maybe?- to not believe it when bobbys alive like. That-a dead loved one not actually being dead- being ‘crazy’, her giving that crazy a chance, then no it wasn’t true it couldn’t be true. So she’s learnt the wrong lesson in terms of this specific scenario where Bobby actually is alive. Also her seeing Bobbys ghost so that when she does see Bobby alive the audience isn’t gonna know if it’s real or she’s just seeing him again.

3. Athena, may and harry burying Bobby in Minnesota with his dead wife and kids, after reminding us in episode how that was the devastation of his life and he’s sure he’ll be with them again one day, while hard rains a gonna fall plays and Athena says “you’re home now baby”.. That is really really nice tv. To me. # to me.

I know this would never happen but it'd be so exciting to see a copaganda show that starts out genuine and, like, standard, but over the course of, like, 3-4 seasons gradually devolves into portraying all the horrific things the cops are capable of. Like, you start out with your cast of likeable, "good cop" characters, and one by one they fall from grace. Some of them make hard choices, but others just reveal themselves to never have been the person you thought they were, not when it comes to others outside their designated "good people" circle.

Like, you laugh along with their jokes in the beginning, maybe find their careless attitude to be endearing, only to later realize those things were indicative of horrifying morals.

I think this would actually maybe be terribly depressing to watch? So would maybe not actually be a "good" show, in that sense. Perhaps there's non-cop characters who rise from the sidelines to become more of the protagonists? Like criminals, activists, attorneys, something like that. idk, personally I find it difficult to watch shows without likeable characters to root for, but I guess there are actually a lot of really well-done dramas that don't really fit that description.
