Tips on what to wear/buy for Marilyn Monroe/doll like makeup? I was told I have those types of features and I’d love to enhance it or balance it out! Not sure which makeup style that would be. But soft looks/ and makeup “non makeup” type looks work best for me. Thank you~
Hi love! I would say the following makeup products can help generate/enhance this look:
Lightweight, full-coverage foundation/concealer (I love the NYX Can't Stop, Won't Stop concealer)
A light sweep of a golden-peachy blush (Nars Orgasm would be great for this look, but it depends on your skin tone)
A light champagne highlight on the tops of your cheekbones and under the arches of your brows (I recommend something like the Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlight Stick)
Brow Pomade/Powder/Pencil that matches your brow color to fill in any gaps (I love the NYX Fill N' Fluff pencil)
A shimmering champagne (lid and below the brow – I would say to go with Stila Kitten Eye Shadow) and light brown (crease – NYX's J'Adore would be perfect for this) eyeshadow
Black or dark brown eyeliner (depending on your desired look/hair and skin coloring) for a thin winged liner look. I swear by the PAT McGRATH LABS PERMA PRECISION Liquid Eyeliner
Lengthening mascara (something like e.l.f Lash N' Roll Mascara)
Red lipstick with a golden glow/undertones (Nars Immortal Red immediately comes to mind)
Hope this helps xx

We’ve just arrived after a 10-hour train journey, and I’m super tired. I’ll be using these products tomorrow to make sure that I look wide awake!
plus an open-eye lash map...
Tula ‘Glow & Get It’ eye balm: this has such a cooling effect on my eyes and instantly makes everything look brighter, tighter, and more awake.
Clarins ‘Cryo-Flash’ mask: I love this mask, it’s my not-so-secret weapon. It cools and depuffs, and makes my skin glowy and poreless.
MAC Strobe Cream: I think this is intended as more of a highlighter, but I use it like a primer on days when my skin is irrevocably dull.
Shiseido ‘Revitalessence’ foundation: this is the best foundation ever for a very soft, natural glow. It has sheer coverage, but it evens everything out just enough.
Charlotte Tilbury ‘Magic Vanish’ corrector: this is my favourite all-in-one for dark circles. It’s creamy and doesn’t crease, and the shade is pink enough to cover up dark circles, but pale enough to not need concealer on top.
YSL ‘Touche Éclat’: the best ever for adding a little natural lift and glow to any dark or droopy part of the face.
Stila ‘Shimmer & Glow’ liquid eyeshadow: I love that this is an all-over product, and I can apply this with my fingertip and no primer and it still stays well. The shade ‘Kitten’ is enough to give my eyes a dewy sort of sparkle which somehow still looks natural.
Dr PawPaw red ointment: a tiny, tiny amount of this rubbed into my lips is enough to moisturise and give the most natural flush of colour to distract from tired eyes—and it stays put!
Bourjois waterproof kohl: a cool silver kohl on my lower waterline and in the inner corners of my eyes is a finishing touch when I need to look extremely bright and alert.

I absolutely love BYOMA skincare and I totally trust them at this point. I really want to try this lip mask out for myself; I cannot bring myself to pay $20 for a lip mask.
Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Pressed Powder
I have really enjoyed Hourglass products in the past. I personally have sensitive skin and eyes and their makeup has never bothered me. I don’t really go to loose powders too much so I’d like to try out these powders.
This is a little extra segment, since I don’t have anything else I’m excited for—
Sephora sale haul !
This sale falls on my birthday so I get to give myself presents.
Here’s what I got:
Merit Flush Balm in Rouge, Stockholm
Merit Signature Lipstick in Power (matte), L’avenue (satin), Millennial (satin)
I plan to write a review for this products, so keep an eye out for that.
That’s really all I have today in terms of new products; let me know if there are any specific products that you’re excited for! —
Annie, the crosseyed cricket.

I have a makeup question for you! I have droopy eyelids and have a hard time with my eyeliner leaving a line across my eyelids throughout the day. I've tried a few eyelid primers and different eyeliners without much luck. Any advice? It's much appreciated! 🙂
This can be a loaded question…
What eyeliner are you wearing? Is it pencil? Most pencils are kohl and they’re meant to be smudged. Try setting the pencil with an eyeshadow. Blend it out, and make it smokier. If you don’t want to do that, some pencils are more long wearing. I love the Smudge Sticks by Stila. Also PurCosmetics has a great liner that is self sharpening that is amazing. Too bad Marc Jacobs beauty is currently not available, they will be back eventually. But their liners were amazing.
Are you using gel liner (pot and brush)? I still use that same technique, add shadow on top of that, and smudge it out.
Are you using cake liner? Back to the smudging eyeshadow 😂 can you tell what my favorite thing to do is?
Are you using liquid liner? My favorites are Rare Beauty, Physicians Formula, and Rimmel has a great one AND Amy Winehouse even used that one!
So I guess I need more context with this ask. Now, if you do have super oily skin that is a different story. Don’t moisturize the top lid before makeup. My favorite primers are Milani, MAC 24 hour eye base, MAC Paint Pot, NARS clear.

What are the best eyeshadows that I can apply with my fingers?
If you're looking for eyeshadows which can easily be applied with your fingertips it's best to look toward liquid and cream eyeshadows. Pressed pigment type products can also work, but you may find them a little more difficult to blend.
Here are some of the best eyeshadows that can be applied with your fingers:
Cream Eyeshadows, such as the classic Maybelline New York Color Tattoo or E.L.F Cosmetics No Budge Cream Eyeshadow. Use them as a base for other eyeshadows or blend a variety of shades for a complete look.
Pressed Cream Pigments, such as Chanel Ombre Premiere Eyeshadows or Hourglass Scattered Light Eyeshadows. The multitude of shimmering pigments make these a one shade wonder as they add dimension to the eyes and reflect light.
Glitter Eyeshadow Liquids like Stila Glisten & Glow/Glitter & Glow Eyeshadows for a sparkling glitter effect. Sweep over the eyelids and blend with fingertips for sheer sparkling color or build up multiple layers for strong pigment. If you're looking for a dupe try E.L.F Liquid Glitter Eyeshadows.
Liquid Eyeshadow Tints such as Glossier's Skywash (which provides a sheer matte tint to the eyelids) or Ilia Liquid Powder Eyeshadow Tint. These liquid eyeshadows apply to the eyelids and set quickly to matte finishes.
All of these options are easy to apply with your fingers, and provide a quick and effortless way to add color to your eyes.

lil bit of christmas makeup, and actually am wearing lipstick for the first time in forever. selfie and me rambling abt makeup below
this lipstick is Stila stay all day liquid lip in Fiery, one of my favorite liquid to matte lipstick formulas out there and my all time favorite red lip. i’m not one to buy a ton of high end makeup because it’s out of my price range normally, but i got this one and Patina (my fav dusty mauve) as a 2 for 1 when a store near me was closing.
the nude eyeshadows are from too faced’s let it snow globe palettes, got those as a gift! they’re subtle but i love the colors. v blendable. the shimmers are from the elli j beauty Shift palette which im in LOVE with rn, so buttery smooth and sparkly. i love love love elli j beauty rn, i got my mom a lipstick from there too and she said it’s super smooth.
i’m glad i’m getting back into makeup because it’s always been one of my favorite forms of expression, and it’s kind of therapeutic to me to do my eye makeup in fun colors and see what i can come up with. one of my fav combos is shades of blue with a green inner corner so maybe i’ll do that soon

knowing you like infodumping about makeup is SO exciting!!!!! i am just getting into it and really appreciate all the tips already, holy heck. did not know ulta employees had to wear a full face but it fits. do you have eyeliner opinionz, liquid vs pencil vs other options? in your opinion what's worth splurging on/investing in and what's not? what inspires you when you do makeup/is there a look you really want to try? ✨💕
HEWWO. i'm sorry it took me so long to get to this ask!!!! i LOOOVE infodumping about makeup it is one of my longest lasting ~special interests~ hehe. ok let's get into it!
all kinds of eyeliner have their place imo. I like Stila's liquid liner pen for sharp lines, but i like pencil for more smudgy looks and to tightline my upper waterline. my fav pencil eyeliners are the Urban Decay ones but they're $$$ so i usually go with the Maybelline tattoo studio ones these days. they work really well. gel eyeliner in the pot had a moment a few years ago but i never got the hang of it :/
i think what's worth splurging on is SO personal! it really just depends on what you use the most. personally i splurge on cream blush, setting powder, tinted moisturizer, setting spray, lipstick, eye primer, and liquid liner. I cheap out on brow product, mascara, pencil liner, and most eyeshadow (helloooo colourpop)!
i find makeup inspiration everywhere! nature is a big one. even just flowers in my neighborhood hehe. i don't have any looks on the horizon yet, cause i've been sick and don't know when i'll be able to wear a full face again.
TY THIS WAS FUN. SEND MORE MAKEUP ASKS MAYBE? :3
