#still just wheat

So I got wheated a couple weeks ago pretty badly (by accident!) and I have learned a very important lesson:

I'm now only moderately allergic to wheat.

The allergic reaction is still there don't get me wrong but I didn't suffer the near instant death symptoms I had before. And I did do the scientisty thing and waited about a week and tried wheat again (on purpose this time) and same thing. Moderate allergic reaction.

I will not be re-introducing wheat into my diet but it means that I can try to eat out again more than once a year, and maybe I can actually enjoy the meal instead of being terrified the next bite would send me into anaphylactic shock.

trader joes frozen green curry is currently saving my ass lunch wise because they're 1. convenient 2. tasty 3. PAERVE AND KOSHER FOR PASSOVER*. however they are getting me back by 1. being really annoying to fucking open (the plastic cover is REALLY stuck on and hard to pull off without spilling boiling curry on yourself) and 2. it always fucking boils over in the microwave if you cook it the way the box instructions tell you to

Found a dutch oven for like, astoundingly cheap yesterday and was finally able to try baking bread in one ! This is a poppyseed rye that I darkened with some molasses and cocoa powder, mostly out of curiousity (i often use molasses but this is the first time trying cocoa as well. Smelled super nice while baking). I added those after the first rise and didn't do a whole lot of kneading when i did, and it seems to have marbled, if the bit of exposed interior (didn't grease the dutch oven, and that part of the crust stuck) is anything to go by. Definitely overbaked it a little, but super happy with how much oven spring I got.

Also, the jams from last night. Very pretty reds.
