The Truth About Chasing Only Academic Success

Hey there! Remember how I mentioned diving into this topic in a previous post? Well, here goes!

But first, let me share a bit about me so you're in the loop. I've always been that girl who's felt a bit "invisible," you know? Like, nobody ever said I was awesome or skilled or anything. So, guess what I did? I chased academic validation like it was the golden ticket. It became this one-track thing where good grades equaled my worth.

So, off I went, studying like there's no tomorrow, racking up top student awards like nobody's business. I was on fire! But you know what I missed out on? Life. Yep, my social life as a regular human being. Let's not even talk about the loneliness that sometimes kicked in.

Fast forward to when I was 16, and a light bulb switched on. Those grades? They're like shiny stickers. Nice to look at, but without the sticky part, they don't stick around for much. I had zilch network, zero connections. I didn't know many people in school or my field.

That's when it hit me. People with half the grades but twice the connections were outshining me. Ouch, right? Accepting that was like trying to hold onto a handful of water. Tough.

But hold up! I didn't waste those years. Nope, not me. I hit the turbo button on networking and socializing. I started showing up at every event, even if I felt like a total fish out of water. Uncomfortable? Oh, absolutely. Worth it? You bet!

From then on, I made a deal with myself. Good grades are great, but they're not the whole pie. I promised to invest in connections, relationships, and all that social stuff. Turns out, connecting with people is like adding extra sprinkles to your ice cream. It just makes it better! So, here's the deal. If you're reading this and thinking, "Score good grades and I'm set for life!" – think again. Grades are cool, no doubt. But unless you're building bridges with real, live humans, you might be missing out.

Network. Shake hands (or do the cool elbow bump thing). Get to know teachers who've seen it all. Hang out with students who've walked your path and can give you real-world advice.

Go beyond the books, my friend. It's not just about acing exams; it's about acing life. 🌟

30-day back-to-school challenge; day 2 - what are you excited about?

I'm pretty excited about my compilers class, actually. I'm pretty good at formal languages and automata, so I'm guessing compilers will be a hell of a great class for me. I'm itching to get started, plus my teacher says I'm most likely going to excell at it. Another class I'm also excited about is databases, since that's so so so useful and the teacher makes the class super fun!! Geez, I'm just so excited to learn new things this semester!

So here’s a little something I made for one of my other Discord servers. It’s called “StudySquad” since it’s the place where my irl friends and I hang out and help each other with hw. Hello everyone!

how are you all doing? I hope you guys had a good weekend. I did since i splurged all my money on daiso for a new desk setup and stuff life that. I also didn’t have much to do so it was very relaxing. I am dreading the day Tuesday come because it means sports day and i’m not sure if i’m up for it. If I don’t come then I fail for the day, seems weird to me. I hope that I can go through the week without having any major suicidal thoughts . Lets all have a productive day and I shall talk to you later.
