Looks like these are the last of my Destiny art that I have, they were drawn a good while ago. Definitely 2020 if not 2019. They were just early concepts but regardless even today they still apply to Nova, Azazel, and Adam-17.
Warlock: Initially called Duskblade (now Willstealer), this Darkness subclass commands the power of the Taken. The Super acts like a dark version of Daybreak, with the ability to fire out slashes from the sword, but also allows the ability to fire Axion Bolts from the free hand an even slam into the ground to deal heavy damage.
Hunter: Initially called Venomstrafer (now Venomstalker, or Wraith), this Darkness subclass harnesses the power of Hive soulfire and its toxic effects. The Super involves wielding corrosive blades that can be thrown and will boomerang back to you, or can be used to slash away at combatants, spreading noxious poison through the enemy.
Titan: Lazily initially called SIVA (now more appropriately renamed to Replicator), this Darkness subclass combines the power of SIVA with Guardians' paracausality. The Super involves wielding a nanite-forged battle axe, which can then be used to spread more nanites across the field to aid you in battle.
I have since refined the 3 subclasses (and even added 2 more SIVA-based subclasses for the Warlock & Hunter, + a Nightmare subclass for Titan), but I'll show those off whenever I get around to them :)

yknow i dont go here but sometimes i gotta go: seriously respect clowns. they have the worst pop culture representation in the world and also the best most thorough honor code. they're just here to be silly little guys who bring joy and are very conscientious about doing so responsibly. let them to their merriment in peace you dont hafta take potshots. i dont go here but like maybe i should, you all seem super chill
#my posts#im mad bc i saw a clown knight adoptable which fascinated me as a concept and then someone bought him and made him evil :(#thats so. boring. its SO BORING IM SORRY THERES A COOL CONCEPT IN THERE BUT THATS THE BORING WAY#maybe ill make my OWN oath of clowning paladin someday#...wait that's actually GOTTA be a dnd subclass somebody's made at some point#anyway also the occasional YouTuber taking potshots and being mean like you dont need to do that theyre just minding their own business :(#we should all strive to be sillier and weirder and more kind forever

#dungeons and dragons#dnd character#dnd#polls#swarmkeeper ranger#I have more ideas but you can only make so many options#Like playing the villain from big hero 6#Honestly a swarmkeeper themed after nano machines is a really cool concept-#- gaseous form would be you dispersing into tiny nanites and fairies fire could be your eyes being augmented by them-#-you could be a really cool cyborg#Or you could play a more traditional vampire with bats and whatever#There's a lot of Halloween haunted House energy potential with this subclass#You could be Dr bees#The flavor of swarmkeeper is so good#Idk tell me what you think would be cool in the tags

MATTHAS MERCAR | THE SHADOW DRAGON INQUISITION AGENT
#MATTHAS HARDLAUNCH FINALLY........#oc: matthas#tay plays datv#datv#datv spoilers#lore crash course for the uninitiated: he is NOT my canon rook but he IS the adopted older brother of my actual canon rook deia :)#he's a warrior/champion subclass. a “red”/stoic personality. a bellaramancer. a certified solas hater and herald of andraste enjoyer :)#his backstory is that he/deia/their eldest brother evander served the inquisition. matthas in particular was hopelessly devoted to the caus#and yet <3 inevitably <3 evander joined the agents of fen'harel and betrayed them/got them all stripped of their inquisition ranks.#obv their family dynamic was shattered and for 4+ years they all went their separate ways.#until finally reuniting while coincidentally all following the exact same lead to solas's whereabouts#ie matthas went to the ritual to kill solas. evander went there to help solas. and deia went there to bc varric asked her to :)#and bc appealing to solas' better nature might also mean there's a chance she could also appeal to the better nature of her idiot brothers😔#and then they meet. at the ritual. CUE INSANE FAMILY DRAMA.#anyway. sorry i am so obsessed with him and them i will never stop talking abt this concept.#fun facts: he loves sailing . is afraid of orlesian harlequins. and can communicate w his siblings thru unnervingly accurate birdcalls

the way I have a strong desire to give ruler salieri’s A3 a cello and violin and probably flute as well is based purely on Selena
At this point in my brain Salieri is literally FGO’s Selena help
#thinking about selena tempest’s cello it’s so fucking cool#also sword flute of capriccio#and now her new frame#on side note like the idea of one of his skill animations being applaud clap#the brainrot is strong in this one#ruler salieri with avenger subclass because his tainted fame will never leave him and its religious concept of grim reaper wheeze

you: level 1 human fighter with no spell slots
me: lvl 2 bronze draconic + lvl 3 undead sorlock with a scroll of Forcecage gifted to me by my patron in case any non-caster (ie, you) was mean to me
#t#i’ve got a new char concept for curse of strahd that doesn’t involve being unaffected by the entire campaign#it’s a super overpowered spellcaster self insert but the overpoweredness is slightly sated by#my char being chronically ill and having one permanent point of exhaustion that cannot heal and unusually low hp for her CON#glass cannon but if it had no cannonballs and instead fired a beam of dark matter that also didn’t work half the time even if it hit#she would make the most fun durge but i don’t think bg3 even has half the spells she uses#i know it doesn’t have her patron type or her sorcerer subclass#lost in digital woods#oc: realgar

uses 'Ilztaun Auvryvirr' for posts directly about him and 'The Aberration Bard' for posts just relating to him
#took up the concept of just treating him like the origin character you managed to forget :p#you don't remember the one that forces you to recruit at level 2 due to the multiclass of two subclasses not in game? Wild.#(Aberrant Mind and College of Eloquence. aka......Gatekeep.Gaslight.Girlboss. the multiclass. Also Aberration Bard. )#(god even though I put companion AU as having him show up /right outside/ where you get withers#even being forced to have him be a sorcerer for like 10 minutes would make people /hate/ him instantly)

DND subclass concept: a druid type called a remy
The gist is that the animal companion has to be small enough to reasonably fit on the head, but you gain all the skills of that animal. If you stick a praying mantis on there you get better eyesight and choppy hands. if you get a bird on there you can understand birds and hunt for worms. a snake man gets venom. stuff like that
the downside is that for every action you take you have to roll to see if the animal is cooperating. if you get a bad roll, regardless of what the action itself's roll, you could do nothing, or do something different, maybe even attach tour own party

Gods, I first got started playing 3.5 with some older people that had all been playing for a while and knew how to optimize, which was especially rough with all the source books that DM allowed, so me playing a fairly basic character next to a couple characters that had some abilities that were not balanced to go together, I got my ass kicked six ways from Sunday all the time, because anything that challenged them would outright kill me
I went through 4 characters very quickly that game
3.5 had a lot going on and a lot of it interacted in weird ways
5e is a lot simpler than older editions but certainly not the simplest system out there
I think an important part of the "D&D is easy to learn" argument is that a lot of those people don't actually know how to play D&D. They know they need to roll a d20 and add some numbers and sometimes they need to roll another type of die for damage. A part of it is the culture of basically fucking around and letting the GM sort it out. Players don't actually feel the need to learn the rules.
Now I don't think the above actually counts as knowing the rules. D&D is a relatively crunchy game that actually rewards system mastery and actually learning how to play D&D well, as in to make mechanically informed tactical decisions and utilizing the mechanics to your advantage, is actually a skill that needs to be learned and cultivated. None of that is to say that you need to be a perfectly tuned CharOp machine to know how to play D&D. But to actually start to make the sorts of decisions D&D as a game rewards you kind of need to know the rules.
And like, a lot of people don't seem to know the rules. They know how to play D&D in the most abstract sense of knowing that they need to say things and sometimes the person scowling at them from behind the screen will ask them to roll a die. But that's hardly engaging with the mechanics of the game, like the actual game part.
And to paraphrase @prokopetz this also contributes to the impression that other games are hard to learn: because a lot of other games don't have the same culture of play of D&D so like instead of letting new players coast by with a shallow understanding of the rules and letting the GM do all the work, they ask players to start making mechanically informed decisions right away. Sure, it can suck for onboarding, but learning from your mistakes can often be a great way to learn.
#kind of miss prestige classes though#subclasses are nice and simpler#and you get stuff earlier that helps get to your character concept earlier#but the prestige classes had some neat stuff man

my campaign hiatus has gone on for too long so to cope ive combined my interests at their maximum potency and had some dnd-strawhats thoughts
thoughts in depth under read more... :)!
this is SO self indulgent. their designs literally did not change. but i am a firm believer that dnd doesnt have to be european high fantasy. and also one piece literally IS fantasy. no changes are necessary to fit into dnd. ive already imagined plenty of campaign/oneshot ideas inspired by one piece. so this was basically just an exercise of trying to replicate their canon abilities in dnd 5e as much as possible without totally homebrewing everything. well. aside from luffy. you just cant take away or change his stretching.
LUFFY: (human monk. drunken master subclass. outlander)
the only plain human of the crew to balance out with the fact that he still has rubber powers. obviously a monk. but drunken master subclass specifically because i think the flavor(not the fact that its about being a drunkard) and abilities both fit him really well. this line in the subclass' flavortext especially fits him: "A drunken master often enjoys playing the fool to bring gladness to the despondent or to demonstrate humility to the arrogant, but when battle is joined, the drunken master can be a maddening, masterful foe."
ZORO: (tiefling fighter. samurai subclass. bounty hunter)
a fighter with the samurai subclass is so very incredibly obvious... but i actually had a lot of fun geeking out while comparing the abilities to what he can do in canon; Fighting Spirit, Rapid Strike, and Strength Before Death especially! tiefling is also pretty on the nose for his demon pirate hunter shtick and asura form, but i thought he'd be really human-passing for a tiefling and theorized about his tail getting cut off at some point or another before joining the strawhats. initially wasnt gonna give him a feat, but i gave sanji a feat so i thought itd be unfair to not give him one as well, so sentinel fits the bill pretty well i think!
NAMI: (tabaxi rogue. arcane trickster subclass. criminal)
cat burglar -> full grown literal humanoid cat. this one is INCREDIBLY self indulgent... i love... cats... theres nothing deeper to this and no other reasoning. i took cat burglar and ran with it. can you tell that i love izutsumi dungeon meshi? rogue for the aforementioned burglar-ing as well, and the arcane trickster subclass for when she picks up climatact! the mage hand will be very useful for her pickpocketing. in the future as she levels up with timeskip, i can totally see her multiclassing into wizard as well! weather wizard!
USOPP: (lightfoot halfling artificer. artillerist subclass. urchin)
I HAD SO MUCH FUN THINKING ABOUT HIS CHARACTER SHEET. halfling's Naturally Stealthy ability lets him hide behind his crewmates since theyre (almost) all bigger than him, so its perfect for hiding behind zoro or sanji all the time. Lucky is also perfect for him, and I think Brave fits pretty well too when he puts on the sogeking mask. artillerist artificer is also very fun! tinkering and making magic items for his crew, and i think Eldritch Canon or Arcane Firearm could both be easily reflavored as kabuto or any of his inventions. for emphasizing his sniper-ness, the spell sniper feat was also necessary. i think hes my favorite of all the concepts. big ears and long nose combo is so cute to me.
SANJI: (half-elf monk. drunken master subclass. guild artisan (cook!))
race was mostly based on vibes i wont lie. squints. and that vinsmoke balogna or whatever too ig. but mostly vibes. along with the idea that i think a dwarf zeff raising him would be really funny and cute. monk is also obvious, and same subclass as luffy for mostly the same reasons. though the flavor fits him much less, i think the abilities still fit him perfectly, and this blurb specifically; "Your martial arts technique mixes combat training with the precision of a dancer." i really wanted to give him a different subclass from luffy, but i dislike all the other monk subclasses a lot and i found none of them fit him as well anyways, so to try and give them SOME differences, i gave him the crusher feat.
CHOPPER: (awakened deer(shifter statblock) cleric. life subclass. hermit)
this ones definitely a mouthful im sorry. awakened deer for obvious reasons, but due to magic instead of devil fruit stuff. when i was struggling with his race, i looked a lot at shifter because of his forms, but it occurred to me that itd be super cool if he could shift between all of the different shifter options instead of being stuck with just one to replicate his rumble balls. something like heavy point/guard point=beasthide, horn point/arm point(?maybe?)=longtooth, walk point/jumping point=swiftstride, and brain point=wildhunt. hed definitely need some kind of nerf though to balance out that homebrew... and cleric for class. duh.
ROBIN: (high elf wizard. order of scribes subclass. criminal)
robin is definitely the one i struggled the most with just because of her class. elf came pretty easily- shes very elegant and i think shed look cute with super long ears- and i landed on high elf instead of wood elf for the int-based abilities. i was really on the fence between sorcerer and wizard for her because i knew shed be a full spellcaster, but i didnt feel that any of the subclasses really fit her. i ended up going with wizard for order of the scribes since it focuses on texts and knowing everything. but also because robin with a flying talking sentient book would be crazy cool. it could also be similar to how she spawns mouths and eyes places to talk to or watch people. my "fuck it, why not. this would be rad. its my house" mindset kicked in with her i will admit. also the One with the Word ability made me cackle out loud when i read it. thats the funniest ability ever. anyways, i cant really think of a way to replicate her powers, but maybe we could just reflavor a bunch of spells to be her limbs or clutch; hold person, maximillian's earthen grasp, or evard's black tentacles. thatd probably work okay, and theres a handful of spells to replicate her ability to spawn eyes or mouths. unrelated, but i imagine nico olvia to be a drow. why? her hair is white. i am a simple man!
#had a full on fixation explosion with this one Dont even look at me im posting this at 4am for a reason.#I HAD FUN THATS ALL THAT MATTERS. I MISS DND SO BAD. CAMPAIGN HIATUS OVER SOON. I MUST LIVE#not really like an au or redesign or whatever but i wanted to draw a lineup anyways to show just. very miniscule differences#i guess. mostly an excuse just to draw a lineup of the strawhats. i fucknig guess#will probably do a part 2 cause i have more thoughts; franky+brook+ace+vivi are on the menu boys#its bothering me so much that usopp and nami are both orange in the read more. but there is no yellow text-fill on tumblr. sad#also just fist fought this post in the drafts for an hour bc i dont understand the character limit#so if i fucked this up im moving to the mountains#wtf... art#one piece fanart#dnd#dnd 5e#mugiwara crew#straw hat pirates#monkey d luffy#luffy#roronoa zoro#zoro#cat burglar nami#nami#usopp#black leg sanji#sanji#tony tony chopper#nico robin#dndpiece

I do think the funniest part of the Coven of Heart subclass in the WBN Witch class is that they can replace spell components with things like the laughter or tears of a loved one because I know the wizards fucking hate that shit.
I had to do the equivalent of a magical thesis defense, and memorize a million spells, and keep track of a trillion different spell components; and yet those fucking Witches with their TWEE BULLSHIT get to make their friend laugh instead of growing mushrooms under the exact right conditions in a process that can take months at a time and is incredibly easy to fuck up?
At that point me and the entire metaphorical concept of magic itself have to scrap.

A judge was a subclass of attorney believed by many to be endowed with mystical powers of interpretation. In early modern Europe, judges drew their power and authority from powdered wigs, but vulnerability to being snatched led judges in the modern era to instead harness their energy from intangible supranatural concepts such as "legal reasoning." [1] This force was largely used to undermine democracy [2], deny welfare to the disabled, antagonize vulnerable criminal defendants, personally enrich themselves [3], and conduct cryomancy rituals [citation needed]. Judges were understood contemporaneously to be the living incarnation of a certain form of legal spirit.
Judges presided over "courtrooms," which were localized fiefdoms in which the judge could purportedly use their will to manipulate the underlying fabric of reality. [4] Contemporary historians [who?] have suggested that judges required and demanded titles such as "Your Honor" in order to psychologically preserve their belief in their own righteousness and superiority despite being part of a brutal state bureaucracy that hinged entirely on arbitrary notions of logic, impartiality, and objectivity. Others have disputed this, however, and argued that the invocation of the honorific reflected the judge's status as a modern-day aristocrat. [5] Many judges wielded a gavel, a weapon which they could withdraw from a pocket dimension within their robes known as "hammerspace," in order to bludgeon reality into a shape of their choosing. Judges were typically appointed for life, but this limitation could often be circumvented through transformation into a lich. Most famously, Clarence Thomas underwent this process in 2040 in order to be appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
All judges were destroyed and immolated following the Red Annihilation Wave of 2176, which rendered the concept of "law" logically impossible.
