Hello! first off I love your art <3 I wanted to ask you about the homebrew campaign you're playing in, the sundered kingdom. what an interesting concept! did gildedruin mod the dnd classes/races to the victorian settings themselves or is there some kind of pre-existing framework they took inspiration or resources from to shape the world? thank you for satiating my curiosity, all the characters and npcs seem extremely cool and novel!

Hey, thanks so much for asking!! It’s such a cool campaign and I really love having an excuse to talk more about it, especially when it means I get to heap praise onto Jax as a dm!!

They have done a TON of the homebrew in the game themself, including the setting and pantheon, but also mechanics like our subclasses and special items. Valentin’s surgeon subclass, for instance, was something she created because I wanted to be able to heal without needing to rely on divine magic. Because of the regency setting, I wanted to fill the archetype of the enlightenment-era doctor, plus I was really obsessed with Pathologic while making him (and still am LOL) and wanted to incorporate the conflict of tradition vs progress into his character. I know Jax also pulled a lot of inspiration from Elden Ring, The Witcher, and Wheel of Time among other things to build the setting and story!!

Question, is Sunders outfit what you used in game?

Because that looks really practical, cold resistance headband, defence buff guard boots and then the champions tunic

UHMM kindaaa ? In a way ? Also not really !!

Champions tunic and the guard boots are for character lore reasons, while the pants are loosely based on the ember trousers from totk because I had him always wear them while playing . I think they’re pretty :^) . It’s not these trousers specifically bc totk hasn’t happened to sunder so yk . But it’s a sweet homage to my fav outfit combo ^.^ also ofc his champion tunic w all the gear in general looks way closer to the totk one just bc I like it hehe

I think a lot of his outfit is also based on botw concept art !! There’s some where his left hand is wearing a glove while the other is how it is in game and which I liked and adapted!

As for the green ribbons in his hair,,, no idea why I did that I can not remember at all and I don’t seem to have any notes on it..? I do imagine it’s a gift from the rito which would aline with the cold resistance you mentioned ^_^

All in all it’s practical for sure! He’s a wanderer that’s outside a lot and battles often, it’s what he needs :D

Okay but now I am just imagining you having a big leash for Sunder.

Sunder has you as kind of a seeing eye pet when Froid is mad and takes away his eye privileges away. And Sunder just comes up to you wearing a giant leash with a large studded collar and he’s like, “I need you to hold this. That way when other mechs see you, they will know that you are tethered to me and,thus, my property.”

And you just kind of give him a side-eye because you know from experience you can make this man bark like a dog but you shrug your shoulders and take the leash and tug him along because whatever man you’re not paid to unpack all that.
