🌸 Cherry Lemon Overview 🍋

Dale (Doug Dimmadome's only child) and Hadley (Ed Leadly's middle daughter) grew up attending fancy social gatherings together (both before and after Dale's disappearance). Weren't super close, but definitely knew each other.

At ages 19 and 16, their dads arranged a betrothal, extended it to each of them, and they accepted- both relieved to marry someone they knew rather than some out-of-state relative of their dads' business associates.

Dale knew Hadley's older sister (Harper) a bit better, but Harper flipped out and said no to being betrothed without love- Harper still resents Hadley for not fighting her betrothal, but Dale still considers her a friend despite the sisters' tension.

After Hadley turned 21, they were married in January 2012 (the wedding planned well in advance by their dads, of course). Hadley was halfway through her Junior year of college and Dale hard at work on his own studies.

Dev was born in spring 2014; Hadley posted a lot of mommy vlogger content in his youth before moving towards travel vlogging. These days, she's gone for long stretches of time, but returns home for most holidays (to film family vlogs).

They're not the most lovey-dovey, but a lot of their interests and personality traits overlap, and they are definitely one of the couples to ever be. Relationship highlights include:

- Hadley's hoarding OCD vs. Dale's neat and tidy OCD. - They are sickeningly cute in matching holiday pajamas. They're also young parents who don't know what they're doing. - Dale can list 100 things he likes about his wife, but he could also walk away from this relationship at the drop of a hat. oh no. - Dale takes his ring off a lot for sensory reasons and chronically fails to indicate he's married, so he keeps going on dates he thinks are business meetings. Sometimes he brings Dev, who is horrified. Half his associates think Hadley is his personal assistant. - Hadley is paranoid Dale will cheat on her, so she'll call randomly to ask if her name is still written on his chest in marker. Sometimes at 3:30 AM because she forgets to check time zones. Things are going great. - They have their ups and downs, but they'd pick each other every time. Probably. Huh... Maybe that IS love.

I enjoy them very much, actually. Shout-out to me sighing and dumping old drafts of Adult Dale being super nervous and shy off to the side because now I have no choice but to play him as a horrible man, sdflkj. Deep down, he's still the awkward, jumpy person I always planned to write him as... he's just actively awful too <3

🦇 Perfect on Paper Book Review 🦇

❓ #QOTD What's the best advice you've ever received or given? ❓ 🦇 High school junior Darcy Phillips has a secret identity as the relationship advice expert behind Locker 89. Leave a letter along with $10 and she'll provide the perfect solution to your relationship woes. So far, she hasn't been caught...that is, until Alexander Brougham catches her collecting letters. He'll keep her secret...if she can fix his relationship post-break-up, that is. Can Darcy help Brougham win his girlfriend back (without strangling the entitled, rich, yummy-Australian-accent-slinging swimmer) in the process?

💜 Perfect on Paper was nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award (Best Young Adult Fiction - 2021) and it's no wonder. This was the exact book bisexual baby me needed a decade ago. Though I've read a multitude of books featuring bisexual FMCs, Sophie Gonzales is the first to capture the authenticity of internalized biphobia. I'll admit I was sheltered enough that it took me a while to realize bi was even an option for me. Bisexual erasure didn't help; once I self-identified, I was given the oh-so-cliche, "that's not real," and "it's just a phase." Bitch, I'm a moon goddess; I'm in a new phase every day of my life. ANYWAY. Darcy is authentic in her concern that a crush over a guy invalidates her bi-ness. The Queer & Questioning Club scene where Darcy's community validates her was everything (and truly got me misty-eyed).

💜 The advice column aspect of the story was brilliant. Darcy's letters are written in a tone that's patient and empathetic yet informative and encouraging. She'd obviously done her research and it shows, but you see her mentally unravel the moment there's personal bias and it's BEAUTIFUL. Darcy isn't perfect. She's a high schooler, still figuring herself out. Yes, she's flawed, but she's also self-aware, willing to grow and change and take her own advice (or the advice she gets from her AMAZING trans big sister, who I adored).

💜 While this is a queer YA romance, there are so many layers beyond that. There's a mixed bag of diversity and personal trauma (and with that, potential for growth) to explore.

💙 The story DID take a minute to pick up speed, so the beginning left me waiting for a catalyst for momentum. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm no a fan of the miscommunication trope. HOWEVER, it does fit here, and proves how easily a tiny moment of misunderstanding can completely alter the course of a friendship. I did have to put the book down at one point, when Darcy's best friend outs her (I was super frustrated on Darcy's behalf because that betrayal was intense). I was disappointed that no one stepped forward and THANKED Darcy for her advice when she was getting attacked as the person behind Locker 89. People were upset BEFORE their letters were taken, but no one thanked Darcy until LONG after the situation cooled. Given Darcy's self-proclaimed success rate (was there a mention of HOW she knew she was successful, beyond the lack of refunds?), I expected a lot more praise for her abilities beyond one person.

It’s Alright (Even if You Hate me Again) by zimriya (homin, E, Inception AU)

The inception fic!! If you follow me on twt you know I haven’t shut up about this story since I read it in june. It’s my favorite tvxq fic and top 3 favorite fic ever. 

As usual, zimriya’s world building is on another level; this fic combines the best of the inception universe with tvxq’s own history in a way that’s absolutely brilliant and it’ll have you guessing what’s going on with yunho and changmin for most part of the story. 

Also, Yunho and Changmin… 10/10 characterization (as well as all the other characters!) Seriously, so good

and in the name of love. by peachxi (marsxholic) (homin, M, angels and demons)

So much blood and violence and angst, and the question “what if love made you worse”? I love an au where the characters are willing to bring the world apart for each other.

memento mori by troubled (homin, M)

A dark tvxq fic. I love the hazy, nightmarish feel of it and that you can really tell what’s actually real and what isn’t. Also, religious imagery!!

This is basically a drabble collection and it’s what introduced me to the tvxq ficdom (and inspired me to give it a try). Many excellent stories to fall in love (and even get your heart broken) with homin.

Super Junior

I love this fic because it’s so fucked up and dark and you don’t see that a lot in the eunhae tag. Really the best interpretation of the gloomy vcr you could ever find

One thing I discovered this year is that I love canon compliant fics and there’s so much that can be said about two +30 y/o men living in a dorm together through a pandemic. I love kyuhyuck and this fic made me love them even more.

Break my heart and start again by rmbringsoo (eunhae, E, sports AU)

A hockey player/figure skater eunhae fic. It does such a great job at characterization and at portraying the difficulties of navigating a relationship amidst a successful career. A really beautiful story.

Let's crack the code for nights by spacewitchbot  (minkey, M, idolverse)

What would happen if you could install Minho’s personality on your phone? Wonderful fic, it made me laugh so much and minkey were super cute in it.

Apsis by Tempcard (minkey, T, sci-fi, space religion)

I’m seriously in love with the worldbuilding in this fic. It’s very different to what I’m used to reading in a sci-fi story and the approach to the characters, their drive and devotion was really heart-warming

I don’t read a lot of smut but this fic was so HOT and so on point. It sent my into a minkey spiral and I still haven't recovered from it.

The Girasol by MailOrderBride (hyuckle, E, pirates, horror)

“You see, bard… the sea has a starving belly. It's never sated, and it rumbles down below. Deep.” Such a well written and chilling fic. I hope I never find myself on a ship in the open sea, thank you. 

Softer Than Shadow, Quicker Than Flies by FascinationStreet (Taeyong, E, dreams and nightmares)

A Taeyong-centric fic inspired by his song ghost. It’s dark and creepy and sexy…just everything I love. Lot’s of spider imagery, how nice!

Ophiuchus by boulevarddouble (yuwoo, E, bartenders and criminals)

Yuta is a grifter. He's also a regular at the bar where Jungwoo works. Sexy fic about sexy criminals, that's all you should know.

Oooooooh thanks for the ask! Well I'm primarily a podficcer and not a fic author, so I'll answer with podfics. This was absurdly difficult to narrow down (since when did I end up with 80 works on AO3??), but here's what I landed on, in reverse chronological order:

the strange idea of continuous living by umadoshi @ysabet (Guardian, Weilan, 49 mins). I posted this shortly before 520 exchange dropped that year, so some of my Guardian fam may have missed it. This is one of my favorite Guardian stories and I had a lot of fun podficcing it, and really had fun with the music and sound effects.

build me no shrines by occultings (MDZS/Untamed, Wangxian, 8 hrs 51 mins) This is my longest podfic ever and I'm super proud of it!! Case fic with Wangxian and the Juniors going to investigate strange happenings at the Burial Mounds, plenty of angst and hurt/comfort and figuring out their relationship. This was a labor of love and I had a ton of fun voicing it and figuring out all the music and sound effects and stuff I wanted to play with for it.

Drowning in the Sun by Zelos @overzelos who for some reason I'm unable to tag here (MZDS/Untamed, Yunmeng Bros, 1 hr 22 mins) a delightfully angsty story about what would have happened if Jiang Cheng was aware but paralyzed during the Golden Core surgery. I worked insanely hard on the music for this one, even though it (hopefully) doesn't show in the final product, because I *really* wanted a version of Jiang Cheng's theme song played on dizi to match the theme of the story and there weren't any options that sounded exactly right, so I had to do a lot of futzing in editing. I'm so proud of the result.

in your skin by darkredloveknot (MDZS/Untamed, Wangxian, 1 hr 30 min) this is a delightfully creepy story that I read and couldn't get the imagery out of my head for months, so naturally I had to podfic it. The summary is "A ghost takes root in Wei Wuxian's body" and I won't spoil any more than that. I wanted a truly eerie effect for the ghost's voice and came up with a multilayer audio process with like 8 different steps to use for this that I've since used in multiple other podfics. Let's just say I don't recommend listening right before bedtime.

Gentle Exile by rynleaf (Untamed, Lan Xichen/Song Lan, 1 hr 38 mins) this was the story that got me into the LanLan ship. The story is so good and so...poetic almost, that it was a real challenge to figure out how to translate it into audio. This was my first time doing a multi-voice (Song Lan was voiced by the wonderful @semperfiona and now it's hard to think of him with any other voice), and editing a multi-voice is a LOT harder than I realized. It was also my first time really doing music or sound effects and I really jumped into the deep end for this one. I actually added a whole second chapter for a "making of" interview because I went for it to a truly absurd degree.

Bath Time (a BarclayPierce oneshot)

What happens when canon scares me so badly to my very core?

I write something fluffy and happy to ignore what the fuck canon is doing.

I absolutely wrote this for @streets-in-paradise because we were both stressing ourselves and making our stomachs sick because of what could happen to Andy in canon. This is how I decided to cope, by writing my very first BarclayPierce oneshot!

This is just a simple and cute little oneshot of Andy and Nica in a bathtub. That’s basically it. Also hints of Final Family and headcanons I came up with with @series-thoughts that are now being used in a oneshot (and Nica has her limbs because I fucking said so, I’d rather die than ever write about the amputation). There’s also a tiny bit of suggestiveness but what can y’all expect, they’re taking a bath together, but there’s just a warning for y’all.

I really hope you guys like this, I still don’t feel super secure about my Andy and Nica writing skills and this is the first time I’ve ever written BarclayPierce, so be gentle on me please! Also, I legit wrote this within 8 hours. It’s a rushed 1.1K word oneshot. But please let me know what you think of this, positive comments fuel my motivation and makes me really happy!

They were both warm for a couple reasons. 

The water was still quite hot, not enough to burn their skin but just enough to make them feel content. 

And their bodies pressed against one another helped radiate warmth between the both of them. 

Nica’s back was pressed firmly against Andy’s bare chest, his arms in a strong yet gentle grasp around her waist. They were finally alone in the cabin for the first time in ages and decided to indulge in some personal time in the bathtub, bubbles covering parts of their bodies and a hint of lavender permeating the air. 

Andy’s eyes never once left Nice, admiring how calm she looked against him. The back of her head rested against his shoulder, fingers trailing over the scars on one of his arms, so soft and light underneath the water. Occasionally, Nica’s blue eyes would close slowly and then open, feeling so peaceful that she was just managing to stay awake in the bathtub. Her curls were damp too, from when they first got in and gently poured water over both of their heads. 

Overall, she looked like a gorgeous sea nymph. 

“This is nice…” Andy mumbled after a long moment of silence, his voice slightly muffled since he said it with his lips to the side of Nica’s head, having just pressed a kiss there. 

“Mhm…” Nica hummed under her breath, tilting her head back so she could look at Andy, “we should do this more often.” 

“I’d love to, if the little shits ever leave the house every now and then.” 

One of Nica’s hands went up and lightly smacked the opposite side of his chest, making him yelp quietly. 

“Don’t be mean!” 

“I meant it affectionately!” Andy chuckled into her ear before another kiss met her temple. 

Nica giggled, knowing that this was true and resumed stroking his arm. “Well, I do agree with you. They don’t let us have an ounce of privacy as it is.” 

“We could always just ship them off to their Aunt Kyle.” He suggested, now absentmindedly tracing random shapes on the sides of Nica’s stomach with the tips of his fingers. 

“If you keep doing that, Kyle’s gonna demand to be paid.”

“That is a literal price I’m willing to make.” Nica giggled again and Andy reveled in the beautiful sound. 

Truly, her laughter was like music to his ears. 

“I love the kids, I really do,” he started, “but fuck, sometimes I could use some quiet and a little time between you and I without Junior shrieking like a banshee in disgust.” 

“He’d be so pissed if we did that to him and Lexy whenever they so much as hold hands.” Nica threw back while rolling her eyes. 

Andy hummed in agreement. “Maybe we should do that, just so he could get a taste of his own medicine.” 

“Tempting, but no. Junior will see it as a personal challenge and get worse.” 

He sighed dramatically before yielding. “Fine. Only because I don’t have the mental strength to battle him on something as stupid as PDA.” 

Nica gave him a mocking pout. “Oh, you poor thing, you sound exhausted.” 

Andy pouted back at her. “Don’t give me that, baby love…” 

She immediately began blushing and then turned her head away from him to try and hide in Andy’s shoulder. “That’s not fair…” 

It absolutely wasn’t, he knew how flustered Nica gets whenever he used that nickname on her. 

It was fucking precious, especially knowing how much she loved it. 

Andy chuckled, smirking as he managed to pull her even closer and plant a kiss on the scar on her forehead. “C’mon, let me see that beautiful face of yours.” 

Nica turned her head after a few more seconds, still pouting at him. “Stop smirking, you jerk.” 

“Sorry, baby love, I have no control over my smirking, you know this.” Andy said in a matter of fact tone, casually shrugging. 

She narrowed her eyes just slightly before wrapping both of her arms around his shoulders, pulling herself higher up to him. This action caused the water to move lower and in a moment of weakness, Andy’s eyes wandered down to her chest that had only a few bubbles still lingering on her bare flesh. 

“My eyes are up here, my darling.” Nica told him and he quickly brought his eyes back up. 

“I was looking at your eyes,” Andy tried to claim, blushing both from getting caught and the nickname, “I was. I was looking at those lovely ocean blue eyes…” 

She obviously didn’t believe him, judging by the eyebrow that was raised, before she smirked as well and leaned in to kiss him. 

He would never get over the feeling of her lips on his. No matter what, it always felt like the first time, an electrifying feeling that made him feel like his heart was stopping and then restarting. It was like a drug that Andy just couldn’t get enough of. 

If this would be how he died, from Nica’s kiss, then it would be a noble death. 

Andy pulled her closer to his body, chest to chest, as he kissed her back. His arms were still around her, his hands now on her lower back before resting his forehead against hers to catch some air. “I love you.” 

Nica smiled, her fingers tracing both of his cheeks and his beard before quickly placing a small kiss on his hips. “I love you too, Andy.” 

Shit, I’ll never get used to hearing that. He thought to himself, his heart pounding so fast that he wondered if she could feel it against her own from how close she was to him. 

Now Nica rested against him, squishing her cheek against his chest this time as Andy’s arms remained firmly around her body. He trailed one hand up and down her back in soothing motions, listening to her breathing. “You’re going to fall asleep here, aren’t you, baby love?”

“No ‘m not,” she denied but her eyes were already closed, “just don’t want to move yet. I’m comfortable here, my darling.” 

His heart raced again and he chuckled lightly, knowing that she indeed was going to fall asleep or at least stay until the water was cold. Then she would burrow further into Andy, desperately wanting more warmth, just like she would do when they were in bed. 

And just like always, he’ll be there to provide her all the body heat he could muster. 

He’d set himself on fire if Nica asked him to, just to keep her warm. 

But for now, Andy will stay in the bathtub, humming under his breath while keeping an eye on the woman he loved and hope they could have more bath time together soon.

I've put some thought into what my tng self insert's job on enterprise would be and having had no luck finding a role that explicitly exists in canon I'm having to make something up. my two current strongest ideas (though I haven't decided on a job title for either of them) are records officer or archivist... but I do tell a slight lie because records officer is a real thing that exists in star trek (TOS: Court Martial has Ben finney serving as the enterprises records officer). it's a command division position "responsible for compiling and managing information regarding a ship's mission and assignments". presumably this has a high security clearance and is a lot of responsibility. maybe if there was like junior records officer where you do fuck all.

my other idea which I'm kind of taken with is archivist (perhaps subordinate to a head archivist but perhaps not). this for real does not exist in star trek universe as far as I'm aware, and I'm not sure what division it would fall under¹. I feel like it's something that could logically exist though. duties would be along the lines of like, digitization of records (e.g. ensuring accurate computer transcription²/formatting of handwritten logs, etc), cataloging artifacts with all relevant and accurate information attached, that kind of thing. would probably work closely with linguistics/archeology/etc departments. has an approximate knowledge of many things. basically these are some of the guys that feed information into the computers and then double check and file it to make sure that when you ask the computer to tell you about vulcan ceramics it can not only show you the most ancient intact pottery but it can also show you just the ones made with a specific glaze and it can also recite to you the handwritten findings of a vulcan some reverently call "the surak of ceramics", even though all their talent lay in ceramics and none of it was left for calligraphy. because some poor son of a bitch is logging every pottery shard like #vulcan #ceramic #sherd #purple #theres a sehlat drawn on it. and that son of a bitch also gets to go through scans of ancient journals and excruciatingly determine if the author has written a ĺ or a İ (but the alien language equivalent of such a dilemma).

¹ in star trek insurrection there was a deleted scene with a librarian serving aboard the enterprise-E, and she was a science division lieutenant. and in the draft script for a tos episode there was a librarian serving aboard there as well, but with an unspecified division. I think that if i could justify the ship having a librarian I would totally give my s/i that role, but it just seems odd to have in such a digital age as the star trek universe, where physical books are usually personal items rather than the primary storage method of written information. but thats beside the point my point is that a librarian is not dissimilar to an archivist and there is evidence pointing to librarian being a science division role. and an archivist is not wholly dissimilar from an archeologist (science division as well) because they both seek to preserve information about the past. but im just not sure because like the question remains is a filing clerk a scientist

²I know star trek technology is super advanced we've got the universal translators and we've got the highly sophisticated computer but i just can't believe that even in the 24th century they would be able to scan the most difficult handwriting especially from languages that don't have a huge database yet and have the computer make sense of it faultlessly every single time.

Short Dramione fic review (and some spoilers too)

I am currently reading The Binding by curly_kay thanks to a subreddit recommendation, and a comment saying that it's beautifully written. I've been reading this one for days now, and I am reading it slowly because I like savoring bits and pieces of the story.

I have never laughed (and giggled and kicked my feet) so much at a Dramione fic until this one, and I can definitely imagine Draco and Hermione acting the way they are in this story - like the conversations I feel are true to their characters. Usually, when I read Dramione fics I tend to think whether these characters are really going to say these (in the movies, for example), and it ends up with me having a hard time imagining them talking that way. Either way, I force it. But this one, it just goes naturally. I am in love. 🥰

- UPDATE - Feb 12, 2024

I just finished the last chapter before the epilogue, and I am crying. I'm very happy and satisfied with all the events that happened in this fic. It covered all 8 movies, and the ending is just *chef's kiss* 🥰

It has been more or less 3 weeks since I started reading this, and as I mentioned in my previous post of this it's because I wanted to savor every bit of this piece of work, hence I took my time. Finishing this fic made me so nostalgic about my reading this the first time... I wish I could go back to experiencing the tension that developed as the story was just in rising action. I didn't even feel the climax of the story, and it was already ending.

The flow of the story was good. Switching of POVs was AMAZING and I am very happy about the characters who got their spotlights every chapter.

The pairings are also *chef's kiss* ❤️ We have our Dramione, NottPott.... and when Pansy was brought in, I was like, "who could the Gryffindor be? Narcissa actually played a huge role in this story... She actually got involved with Dumbledore and Snape! To protect Draco, and to protect Hermione.

We also have a side character who I thought was annoying at first, but I was like, I just know this character is the author putting us, the readers, in the story, shipping Dramione, being the wing girl, setting them up! Her name is Amelia. She's their junior, from Hufflepuff.

Smut was also lit. It was hot, but not too much where it basically became pr0n type.

I love love LOVED this fic so much!

There were chapters where it hurt, of course, but I knew they were doing it for a reason. It was all worth it in the end though.

so I dont necessarily like assuming I won't finish a fic ever but the ones that are lowest on my priority are the warlock taakitz thing and then my resurrection roadtrip (simply because I Know that one will be big and it feels daunting)

I think I'm good at getting into a character's head and writing a truthful internal monologue and good dialogue.

My BL journey so far

Okay kids gather round, get comfortable. This is a long one.

Disclaimer/background info: I started watching BL about a month ago-ish. I don't remember the exact date but I believe I started last month or maybe the end of the month before. So I am still a bit of a noob and trying to catch up with watching things. I am also a very chaotic person which you will probably find out by the way this is structured/written. Lastly, even though I do study/teach English for a living, it is not my first language.

Okay with that out of the way, let's dive in.

Backstory/introduction

Like any good story I feel like a bit of backstory/intro might be a good idea. Hi, on the internet I mostly go by the nickname Peach, however I created this blog when I got into BL and have adopted yet another fruit as a new nickname for this side of my personality/identity which is Lychee. I don't really mind which one you use. I'm 24 years old and I am Dutch (the Netherlands). As mentioned in the disclaimer I teach English but I am also still a student, I plan on studying more after this because I love learning new things and especially about languages and cultures. I am part of the LGBTQ+ community myself and mostly identify as Bisexual or Pansexual. I use she/her pronouns. When I was about... 13-14 ish I rolled into the K-pop fandom. I used to listen to bands like SHINee, Super Junior, EXO, BAP, Infinite, Girls Generation, 2ne1, Block B... I was a real fangirl if you ask me HAHA. In this time I also watched a Kdrama or two here and there. Favorites being: Heartstrings and Shut up flower boy band. (I was never too into Kdrama back then). I also used Tumblr back then, I have a literal 12 year old tumblr account with almost 50K posts that I used during my K-pop times. I stopped using tumblr quite a while ago too but that blog is still there. I would reblog gifs and pics and what not about my biases and ships. But as interests do sometimes, it faded into the background and I fully stopped keeping up and listening to K-pop. It has literally been 10 years now.

But then...

One random afternoon I was bored at home and wanted to watch something new. I randomly realized Kdramas existed and so my journey to find one began. I stumbled upon Semantic Error and almost by accident decided to read the little description and the tags that were with it. My eyebrows furrowed for a minute before I could feel my eyes widen: "WAIT THE TWO BOYS... IT'S... GAY???" I could almost not believe what I saw. Obviously back in my K-pop times every band had ships and pairings you fangirled over, Baekyeol or ChanBaek, 2Min, JongKey... You know what I mean...You fangirled over every random moment they were together but that was as far as that went. So you could maybe imagine my excitement when I realized that Korea has come far enough to actually make BL shows now. So without further thoughts I watched Semantic Error. And because it was the first BL I saw I fell in love with it, the story was good, the acting was good, the fluff was to die for. An all round great experience to start off with.

Little did I know...

After this experience I was obviously hungry for more. So, I turned to the internet to tell me where they had been hiding this secret stash of everything I ever wanted in Kdrama... And boy was I surprised with the results. This was the moment I found out that not only Korea but also Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and China made BL shows... And not just 1 or 2... The choices were endless. My journey continued with (either... I kinda forgor...) Don't say no and Love by Chance. This was my first experience with NC scenes too. I had no idea that Thailand already took the step to also go into a little more 18+ when it comes to BL and to be fair... I was kind of excited about it. Now that I have seen more BLs I guess you could argue that neither Don't say no and Love by Chance are the best BLs ever made but at the time I was completely hooked on them.

And so began...

An insane marathon sprint. By this time I wanted more more more and that's what I consumed. I watched some more Kbl, some Japanese BL and some more Thai BL's as well. Until I hit KinnPorsche and that's when I realized how hooked I actually was on this new comfort genre I had just discovered. KinnPorsche allowed me to put the shows I had watched for far into perspective. Most BLs have the university students falling in love drama vibe... KinnPorsche was something completely different and boy did I fall in love, and hard too. This show quite honestly changed a lot of things for me. I went from 'I'm just casually watching these shows' to 'Oh I might be a little obsessed now' and after finishing KP I realized I wanted even more and I could no longer deny that I was becoming a part of the BL fandom.

So where we are now...

In the past month I have spent every free second of my day watching shows. Binging one after the other. I was lucky to have a week off during this time too and I have managed to COMPLETE 32 BLs between then and now. 5 currently watching shows I try and keep up with and a TO WATCH list of 40+ shows. (aka: obsessed much?)

In the meantime I have made a BL twitter and a BL tumblr (this one) to find out more about the BLs I watched or am watching currently, but also to keep up with new ones coming out. I have realized that because of how badly I want to keep up with things I SUCK at remembering names. If the show did not leave a big impression on me I can also easily forget the whole storyline of some. This in addition to people talking about ship names but also IRL ship names using actors real names makes it quite hard to keep up sometimes.

The community...

I also made these accounts in the hopes to interact with the community. This part has been quite a challenge for me. I have never been the most extraverted person (both irl and online) but I am one of those people that is almost desperate to make friends (that sounds a bit sad but hear me out.) I love talking to people (< but you said you're introvert.. I know again, hear me out) but I have absolutely no idea how to behave in order to make friends. I am often too shy to interact with people so I just kind of pull myself back and hope someone reaches out first. As soon as they do there's a good chance I will latch onto them without mercy. I have realized that I am afraid I do not fit in sometimes within this community (mostly on twitter to be honest) I see a lot of very knowledgeable people when it comes to BL shows and I am too afraid to interact. Here on tumblr and twitter I also (after literally 10 years) realize how talented people are when it comes to making gifs, edits and translations. Something I did not really think much about when I was using Tumblr 10 years ago. I have so much admiration for what people make but at the same time I feel like being a cheerleader from the sidelines by reblogging/retweeting I cannot match up to them too. Now I am obviously very new to BL and the community and I have actually met some lovely people already. I guess I just want too much too fast haha!

BL as a whole... (Disclaimer: The things I talk about are not just directed at BL alone, the issues I list are VERY MUCH also alive in Hetero shows and I would like to see change there too. But to keep on the topic of BL I list them here with my reasoning)

Realizing how far these countries have come when it comes to even making shows about LGBTQ+ is an awesome thing to see. Like I said before I come from the time where all I could really do is ship two band members together and fangirl over them sitting next to each other basically. I am part of the LGBTQ+ community myself and I live in a country is supposed to be very accepting so it is nice to see the steps different cultures are taking as well. However I do feel we are not there yet in the way they portray things. Consent (this is obviously not only a BL problem) has been a bit of an issue for me in some shows. Power dynamics - My main issue show for this one was Cutie Pie (not very sure how to elaborate further) NC scenes - Still being quite unrealistic sometimes, you really cannot tell me that bottoming is something you do without preparation of any sort. Only gay for xxx -> Straight but gay for this one man is not exactly how sexuality works. I feel like it might kind of give off the wrong idea as well. I do see that some of these trends are turning to the right direction (Between Us being a good example for consent for example)

Now I obviously know that these are fictional stories so please don't come for my throat over this. I am just listing a few things I have noticed in my journey.

The shows...

Now I would like to use this last little section here to mention and give my thoughts (positive and negative) about some shows I have seen. Let's start with the good shall we.

KinnPorsche -> I have mentioned this show before but I would like to do it again. I fell in love with this show, the actors are amazing, the storyline is great, the chemistry between the couples, the diversity in the storyline, the humor, the serious moments... It has so much and the casting they did for this show is a legit 10/10 Apo is such an amazing actor, Mile is his perfect match for the role and don't even get me started on the rest of the cast I would probably pull up an entire powerpoint presentation.

Life-Love on the line -> Is a Japanese BL that I related to quite a lot. The entire story of how two boys fall in love and grow up together, one becoming more serious while the other stays quite 'childlike' hit me right in the feels (I don't want to spoil things) It was such a beautiful story to be fair.

Semantic Error -> My first BL and what a great start to have to be honest. Need I say more?

Bad Buddy -> I loved this one because of the storyline and the awesome chemistry between the characters. It showed an amazing story of how sometimes you need to put your prejudice thoughts aside to find something beautiful.

Blueming -> The way this story unfolds made me fall even deeper in love with Kbls to be honest. The way this was filmed was just so beautiful.

Roommates of Poongduck -> I was a little hesitant in the beginning of this one. The storyline description did not grab my attention and after seeing how KBL is often focused more on the story than on the passionate kisses for instance it took me a moment to get into it. But we have all seen the kissing scene (that they robbed us of to be fair) and the chemistry between the characters had me sobbing while having the biggest grin on my face.

I told sunset about you -> When I got a little deeper into my research the name of this BL kept popping up everywhere and it obviously got me curious. Boy oh boy this was such a beautiful story I cannot even begin to explain. The exploration of sexuality, gender, love and friendship in this one... Ugh ugh ugh.

Not me -> A masterpiece. The themes, the storyline. They touch upon heavy topics while also maintaining an entertaining series. It's so good.

Love in the air -> Okay so, MOST of the shows above have a lot of deeper messages or storylines and love in the air might feel out of place. WRONG. Sky's storyline shows quite a bit of deeper meaning and I think it was done really well. The other part of why I like this show is because of the actors. They really did such an amazing job with this one and I cannot wait to see more of them.

ChocoMilkShake -> (up until last ep) this was my comfort show. I kind of ignored the dark side of them leaving and just focused on all the cute stuff but I just love it. They better give me a happy ending though!

Between Us -> I have seen UWMA and I must say that although the story was very very beautiful and touching and heavy... I did not vibe with the insane drama as much as I would have hoped. I did however enjoy the WinTeam moments quite a bit. And then BOOM Between Us happened and I am having a blast with this one. Consent being a big plus. The storyline is good, there has not been (knock on wood) unnecessary drama (I was afraid this would happen with the overhearing half a conversation thing they were giving us but I am SO happy to see it was done in a mature way). I love it.

And now for some shows I would like to give a tiny piece of my mind. DISCLAIMER: These are opinions you can ignore, I am not shitting on actors whatsoever, this is mostly targeted towards writing/storyline. THE ACTORS DID NOTHING WRONG!! I am okay with people asking questions about it though (: I also do not JUST shit on the shows I talk about here, I point out some things and also say what I DID like about it

Lovely writer -> This show holds a scene that I find THE MOST frustrating one I have seen so far. "Let me explain" -Silence- "I can explain" -Silence- "Wait don't leave" -Silence-.... If you have seen the show you probably know what I'm referring to. This is what I mean with unnecessary drama. Characters being angry at each other for longer than needed or for a reason that does not make sense. The rest of the show was okay. I don't hate the show but it frustrated me more than that I enjoyed it.

Big Dragon -> The first episode had me screaming. The NC scene, the open kink representation on this one made me so excited. It felt like the next step towards representation for kinks within the genre... And then that slowly died off. The scene where Yai is with the girl that (I suppose) normally helps him with his kink and then the bathroom scene where Mangkorn orders Yai around were 10/10 too but then it was gone and we were back to quite the normal BL plotline again which I found very sad. In the later episodes I also missed the chemistry between Yai and Mangkorn. I fucking LOVE MosBank together like... They are legit amazing actors and I would love to see them again in something different. I am just a little disappointed in the storyline progression.

Cutie pie -> The power dynamic in this show was not really my style. The controlling BF type deal was a bit hard to watch at times. and I KNOW that this entire show is about breaking free of that but the fact that there it is needed in the first place and the lying and secrets.. it was all a bit much for me. However the casting was really good. The chemistry between the characters/actors is awesome and everyone played their role really well!

To my star -> NOW BEFORE YOU BEHEAD ME, HEAR ME OUT. I love this show. I actually love this show. It is really good. But there are some small things that made me frustrated sometimes. Talking about feelings is hard and I do get that 110% but it sometimes felt quite frustrating and left me with a little bit of a bad feeling. I really hope that this show teaches people that you can only really move forward by talking about your feelings instead of running away from them.

Together with me -> The controlling, dramatic, witch female role. Now again, hear me out. The show is great! The chemistry is there, the acting is 10/10 the casting is 10/10 but it has an element I would like to discuss that I have seen in multiple BLs as well. Now I get that the girl is mad, right. Her BF literally cheats on her (shame on u) but the entire master plan the girls come up with like... damn girls... That's all I really have to say about it. Not all women become murderous, petty witches.

TharnType -> From homophobic to being almost assaulted into a gay relationship. Again casting 10/10, chemistry 10/10. But I see this storyline quite a bit too in deluded forms. Consent is a BIG issue in this show for me. Then there is the "I am only okay with this gay guy" idea too that just kinda made me pull some faces at my screen at times.

I’m too sleep deprived to restrain myself from saying this and I’ve wanted to say it for years…

I do not have the suspension of disbelief to think that Ruby would ever, in a million years, date Emerald period.

This isn’t just “ship bashing” time, it’s: ‘Regardless of how poorly written you personally think their relationship was, so much of Ruby and Sapphire’s character arcs depend on each other and their inherent connection with each other” and “Ruby and Emerald barely seem to like eachother” and “Ruby and Emerald don’t have much of anything thematically interesting going on”

Hell, I’d believe Emerald and Sapphire dating before I’d believe Emerald and Ruby dating. I’d believe Ruby and Liasa saying, I’d believe Ruby and Wally dating, hell I’d believe Ruby dating any of his immediate juniors or seniors.

But not Ruby and Emerald.

The fact that so many people are willing to engage with and create content for two male characters who have no reason in canon to be together — while barely caring about female characters at all is telling. You can see it in the way that people barely ever mention Yellow or Blue in Originalshipping fics (except to help out the men, of course); or how you barely hear a word about Crystal in the vast majority of Preciousmetal fics. And to clarify: I am fine with and even enjoy both of those ships most of the time! But it’s hard not to notice after a bit.

Even when people make WLW ship content it always feels like it’s to get the women out of the way, or it’s done as a side mention. Rarely do I hear about or see people exploring the in-depth nuances of sapphic relationships in Pokespe without men somehow being in the forefront. And that’s an absolute shame, because a lot of sapphic ships in Pokespe have the potential to be really interesting if people would explore them properly!

Now let me be clear about my biases here. Franticshipping is my favorite ship of any fandom, hands down period. While I would believe any of the aforementioned ships with Ruby or Sapphire, I still wouldn’t like to read them because doing so makes me viscerally uncomfortable. Honestly that’s a part of the reason why I don’t engage with a lot of the larger fandom as a whole — and to clarify, that isn’t an “I think this is a problem” sort of thing, it’s just a hang-up of mine that I understand to be just a me thing (create all the content you want and so long as you tag it properly IGAF!)

But! But.

Frantic is a straight ship, yes, but it’s a straight ship composed of two at least somewhat gender nonconforming leads. Again, remember when this was first published — Ruby being portrayed as flaymboyant and feminine whilst being entirely straight is hugely fucking progressive; hell it’s even progressive by today’s standards. And obviously women tend to get more leeway in the femininity department nowadays, but still!

It is straight and it is played straight, not as a punchline or a gag. Sapphire is the more aggressive and physically competent of the two of them. Ruby sews her clothing and is interested in looking pretty. Neither of them have moments where their sexuality is questioned because of their interests, and they are both given the freedom to be well-rounded characters and have an interesting romantic relationship with each other rather than being some punchline in a newspaper strip or something.

So when people look at Ruby, and nod, and go “ah yes he must be gay” it feels like stereotyping. There is a stark difference between queer coding a character, and having a feminine male character who is very interested in women and has a romantic relationship with a woman which is a big focal point of his story. You feel me? There isn’t one homoerotic male friendship to be found with Ruby — he isn’t Red or Gold — and he literally only has super deep important character moments with and surrounding Sapphire.

Please understand: I’m not trying to say that straight ships are somehow marginalized or whatever, or that if Ruby had been in a gay relationship that it wouldn’t have been progressive at all. That is absolutely not what I am trying to say here.

What I am trying to say here — and what I hope that I’ve managed to get across — is that I see shipping Ruby with Emerald as downright unbelievable, the Pokespe fandom (as well as a lot of other fandoms) has a tendency to shove aside female characters in favor of male-focused storylines, and that Franticshipping is still a progressive ship even though it’s straight.

What baffles me the most about this whole thing, I guess, is that people who hate how Frantic played out in canon just Will Not engage with it! The kinds of people who love rewrites!

If you want queer rep, Frantic already screams Bi4Bi and/or T4T. If you find it narratively unsatisfying, make it satisfying! If you don’t like their dynamic, change it — you’re already changing a lot of personalities already!

I’m perfectly fine with people disagreeing with this post, by the way, I’d just ask that you please try to take this in good faith and not be too harsh just because I’m the kind of person who can get anxiety spirals over internet arguments 😭 Also I’d love it if ppl who want to argue back/discuss do so on this post and not the thing where you screenshot and reupload to bash someone thanks 🙏

None of my fics have an “angsty” ending.  I’m a writer who writes “angst with a happy ending”.  The one that got really fucking close was Soul Bound but even that one had a happy ending.  I respect writers who can write hella angsty endings but could never be me

I’ve done a few crossovers, mainly between S.C.I. and Killer and Healer because Zhan Yao and Bai Yutong are very similar to Chen Yuzhi and Jiang Yuelou so it’s always fun to work with their dynamics

No.  I always say I want to try but honestly, just thought of writing smut makes me uncomfortable.  I respect writers who can but again, could never be me

Someone stole my “The Untamed Moments” and was writing all of my fics in Spanish over on Wattpad like they wrote the damn thing.  Thankfully a reader told me so I took that shit down but yes...it’s happened before.  Thankfully hasn’t happened recently but everyone knows what will happen if they touch my fics, so they know better

I did, when I was younger over on AsianFanFics.  But we both quickly scrapped the fic and I’ve never co-written a fic since.  Now I do brainstorm fic ideas with a few friends here on tumblr (

Obviously Naley is one of the best TV ships of all time, maybe even THE best, so I'm challenging you to name a few things you don't love or would change about the way their ship was written! For me a big one is their S2 plot and her music storylines in general- I'm all for conflict but I thought Haley, who values personal relationships so much more than 'celebrity', was pretty out of character through S2. I also ---pet peeve alert - HATE how all the main OTH characters are not only athletes and cheerleaders but soooo gifted creatively! Lucas becomes a semi-famous novelist, Peyton becomes the producer of her own record company in addition to being a gifted artist, Brooke has her own fabulously successful fashion line which she started back in high school, and we then get Julian who's a successful film director and Alex Dupree who's a B-list movie star. Nathan isn't creatively gifted but is of course not just a great athlete but good enough to be in the .0001% who gets to the NBA. And they all still live in this small North Carolina town lol...I mean, I don't expect the show to be strictly realistic, but come on! More than even one of those things happening strains credulity. So I loved that Haley was presented as the ONE character who was so relatable and into academics and down to earth and all that, but the show then suddenly decides after S1 purely because the actress likes to sing that Haley is not just a decent singer but good enough to immediately go on TOUR?! What?!?! It's an aspect of the show that annoys the hell out of me. I loved Haley as a teacher for a variety of reasons and think it's the perfect career choice for her and will always resent that they had to also make her a star singer lol. 3. I'll still never quite get why Naley had to marry a few months into their relationship when they were just juniors in high school and there was no pregnancy. 4. So I like Nathan a lot overall, but there's no denying that he was a HORRIBLE, borderline emotionally abusive boyfriend to Peyton (as you've pointed out, he left her stranded on a dark and deserted road, was super cruel to her, and was all set to let her suffer legal consequences for a car accident HE caused lol) and I just don't love the "but the RIGHT girl can immediately tame and save the bad boy" trope. So I love that Naley brought out the best in each other, of course, but I just wish the change in Nathan hadn't been quite so abrupt! OK, thanks for listening to be vent!

Hmm. The thing about parts of Naley's season 2 arc is that personally, I think Nathan and Haley were mostly in character during everything leading up to Haley leaving for the tour. In my opinion, it's a pretty realistic depiction of what happens when you get married as teenagers following a short relationship before you've been able to become independent people. The circumstances were pretty unrealistic. In real life, a small town girl probably wouldn't end up going on tour a couple of months into performing live for the first time in her life. Haley's career wouldn't have taken off nearly as fast without Chris there to vouch for her talents and bringing The Wreckers to Tree Hill. But if we ignore all of that, the reality is that Haley spent her entire life afraid to take chances. Falling in love with and marrying Nathan allowed Haley to be more impulsive and to become a braver person. Nathan, in contrast, needed Haley's stability and good influence. While he was the same age at her and hadn't been allowed to live independently away from his toxic and abusive parents for long, he had more romantic and sexual relationship experience prior to Haley and was looking to slow down rather than jumping into new things. So for Nathan, giving up something like High Flyers was less of a big deal at the time than Haley choosing not to go with Chris to New York. Nathan had grown up with a life of privilege, receiving the best money could buy as far as getting ahead as an athlete. Plus by the end of season 1 and first half of season 2, you could assume that Nathan was beginning to associate basketball with Dan and kind of happy to stop defining himself as Nathan the basketball guy. In the long run had Haley never gone on tour but Nathan also not gone to High Flyers, I think it's possible Nathan himself would have began to feel stifled and grown resentful of putting his dreams on hold solely to be a husband. Anyways. I think Haley liked having something all her own independent of Nathan, and the Chris factor and her lack of experience with men prior to Nathan put her in a messy situation. There are multiple episodes where the subtext is that Haley on some level regrets rushing into marriage or has doubts about it (201, 205, 210, 217). I think it's completely understandable for Haley to feel that way. As much as I love them and consider them one of all my time favorite couples, they weren't ready to be married. Nathan and Haley had to learn to be better partners to each other and as the seasons went by, they became more successful. But during season 2, everything was new and more uncertain. So rather than being honest with Nathan about the kiss with Chris and her perspective re: putting her dreams on hold, Haley panicked and kind of internalized everything out of fear of what it all meant or the ramifications of what she'd done.

In regards to your thoughts about Haley craving fame, I don't know that it was really about the fame part as much as it was Haley wanting to pursue music and getting professional validation and fulfillment from performing and having people like her music. Haley says she loved every night of performing and she seemed to be excited about appearing on television, but I wouldn't say it meant much more than that. However, Haley's POV is very vague and confusing following 213. She's only ever shown either in brief phone conversations or when Nathan and Lucas visited her on tour. During 217 in particular, Haley is poorly written. Not because her thoughts and feelings aren't valid, but because the words coming out of her mouth are a piece of forced writing meant to ensure that Nathan and Haley remain separated and that Nathan essentially gives up on their marriage. Haley is not given the chance to explain herself. So as a result, Haley appears selfish and like she cares more about being a rockstar than Nathan's feelings. That's exactly what the writers wanted at the time. The story of Naley's separation and Haley's time on the tour was NEVER about Haley. It was all about Nathan's pain, depression, and his fight through the pain of losing the love of his life. Haley's role on the show was minimized to the point of her becoming a villain for having ambitions and for making mistakes the same as the other characters. It got a little better when Lucas visited Haley because Lucas was close enough to Haley that he truly wanted to understand and was willing to hear her out. So, we got the official explanation that Haley stopped wearing her wedding band because she no longer felt she deserved to wear it. The moment she presumably removes her wedding ring would have been prior to her televised interview. Yet, Haley keeps her ring finger covered up. She compromises herself by denying the marriage while also kind of upholding it? She still refers to herself as Haley James Scott and doesn't officially flaunt the fact she isn't wearing her ring, but she allows Chris to lie about their relationship. I feel like I've completely lost the plot here, but what I mean to say is that I don't take issue with most of Haley's writing in season 2. I simply think she was written by people completely uninterested in her perspective and her journey compared to Nathan's and REALLY lost out on the lack of consistent writing and POV during episodes 214-223.

What would I change about their writing? Well, obviously a lot of season 2 LOL. I think we should have seen Haley's time on the tour. We should have seen her becoming confident and thriving in the spotlight all the while missing Nathan and being heartbroken over what she's been forced to give up in the name of chasing her dreams. It's implied Haley and Chris were good friends during this time. It would have been nice to see the shift from Chris kind of aggressively coming on to Haley to Haley making it clear nothing was ever going to happen between them, and Chris accepting this enough to become Haley's confidant. Beyond that, I would have given Haley more of a backbone during season 3. I think she stood her ground when absolutely necessary, but Nathan also kind of held all the cards for a lot of season 3. His attitude about her Halloween costume for instance was bullshit. He also should have put his damn wedding band back on before they officially became engaged again because they'd been sleeping together for months and were literally living together by that point. What was I supposed to take from that other than Haley hadn't yet earned it? In season 4, I would have liked Nathan and Haley to have gotten an equal focus during her pregnancy. Season 5, I think more should have come out of their separation story line. I loved the episode where they reunited, but it also kind of seemed a little too easy for Nathan. I obviously don't blame him for the majority of what went down with Carrie or her predatory behavior, but the fact he was watching her swim naked was SO sketchy. There were multiple moments throughout the series where the possibility of Nathan cheating on Haley came up and it was always horribly executed. Whether he went through with it or not, it was annoying for Haley to constantly have these physical threats. Like, Haley was beautiful and sexy as hell, and Mark Schwahn was a demon. I also don't feel like Haley doubting Nathan re: Renee in season 7 was needed. That felt like a retread of season 5. Thankfully, it didn't last very long. Otherwise, I honestly don't have any complaints. More often than not, their relationship was well written.

I completely agree that it was unrealistic for all of the main five to basically become superstars. That took some realism away from the show and made the later, adult seasons harder to enjoy because like.. we're watching Nathan and Haley in their big house where a professional football player seriously shows up at their son's birthday party. While the show overall felt grounded for the entirety of the series, those moments detracted from the series as a whole. That being said, I LOVE rockstar Haley, so we'll have to disagree there. It's not that I don't enjoy her as a teacher or someone interested in helping others learn. It's just that teaching was never Haley's dream. It was something she was good at, but it never fulfilled her the same way being a musician did. On that note, it annoys me that the writers felt the need to make Haley smaller to make Nathan look/feel bigger. By season 7, Haley once again was a musician full time. But when Nathan retired from the NBA to become a sports agent, Haley took over Karen's Cafe rather than continuing to perform. Just to be clear, there's nothing wrong with any of these professions. They're not inherently "lesser". It's just that it was written that while being in the NBA was Nathan's dream, Haley's dream was being a singer. Ultimately, I don't think Haley was ever supposed to be super successful even at the height of her career. The potential was there during season 2 and obviously she toured again in season 7, but I never got the impression she ever achieved the same kind of fame that Nathan and Brooke did.

Yeah, I'm of two minds about that. Part of me is like, "Yessss! Naley forever!" When I was watching season 2 for the first time when I was around 12, their teen marriage was couple goals to me. Nathan and Haley are a rare case of two people that settled down young and still managed to live happily ever after. But on the other hand, we see how much of a mistake it was to rush into marriage. When Nathan proposed, he told Haley she was the only true thing he had. He put SO much stock into that marriage. I genuinely think part of the reason he proposed at all was the fear of losing her after that porn fight. Had Haley not wanted to explicitly wait until marriage for sex, I doubt the thought would have occurred to him. Haley let herself get swept away by the romance of young, first love and was a wife before she'd even experienced anything. From a story line standpoint, I love it. But speaking as someone twice their age at the time of the marriage, there were so many reasons why they should have waited.

I don't think I was the one to point that out, but I 100% agree with those points! I always forget how bad Nathan was during the first few episodes of season 1 because he'd grown tremendously by 122. But jesus christ, he was the boyfriend from hell. It really came across like half the time, Nathan used Peyton as a sex toy. He learned a lot of horrible, toxic messages from a young age and was on the path to becoming Dan Scott when Haley came into his life. You're correct that that particular trope is oftentimes really gross and overdone in fiction. Thankfully, I actually think OTH is one of the few shows to get it right. Peyton is never blamed for Nathan's bad behavior or viewed as "lesser" than Haley for being unable to fix Nathan. Their relationship was toxic and they couldn't have been more wrong for each other. Both Nathan and Peyton always stressed how awful their relationship was, and Nathan is thankfully quick to own up to his bad behavior during their relationship. But, you make a good point. Nathan's turnaround from emotionally abusive asshole boyfriend to sweet and patient boyfriend to Haley happened very quickly. Really, everything with Naley in season 1 was pretty rushed and could have used a few more episodes. The pacing is way off. They spent so much time building up to their first "I love you" only to have them married three episodes later. I think the key to Nathan's shift is that originally, I believe the Nathan/Peyton/Lucas triangle was supposed to go on longer. Since that ended up being replaced by the infamous Brooke/Lucas/Peyton triangle, that freed Nathan up to get together with Haley sooner.

someday, Mary, i will tell you about the cringiest thing i've ever written. it's completely ripped off of a Boba Fett novel released right after AotC, there are song lyrics repurposed as a poem, iirc there's a literal Plot Device that gets completely forgotten about until i realized i was at the end of the story… anyway, i just have to read it myself first, because i literally haven't opened that document in fifteen years. it's that bad. i printed it out and brought it to my grandparents' cabin upstate and made everyone in my family read it. i physically cannot let you read the entire thing, but when i finally get up the courage, i'll liveblog it for you

moving on… Zach notices his father seems sad, but doesn't worry about it much

Zach overhears his parents talking quietly and conveniently catches a few super relevant words! we get our first mention of the 'Caman's Crystal'

so Breon needs a hand because he has to track a bounty on Yavin 4, but he also has to get help from "the couriers on Dell", whatever that means. apparently he needs to do these things at the same time… so he asks his kid. how old is this kid? fuck if i know.

and there ends chapter one. it was about 400 words. i'm deeply ashamed of myself

me: chapter two… Zach sees a cool ship, goes "oh neat, whose is that?" and apparently it's HIS now. this kid is like, twelve. Mary: I mean…expensive flex, Breon, but okay

he notes it's almost like the Slave I, although HOW he knows that i have no fucking idea, except it's smaller. i'm calling it the Slave II now.

it's actually called the Starlight 7, but.. nah

Zach finds it a little strange at first but ofc he's an INSTANT EXPERT at piloting and gets the hang of it instantly

Breon apparently just vanished into the ether, because Zach's in hyperspace now. he reads a book to pass the time… which apparently has detailed descriptions of both Yavin 4 AND Kamino. can you tell i was not very familiar with anything Star Wars besides the movies?

Zach tells himself not to worry because his father's flying and Breon is, of course, Jango Fett with the serial number filed off there's a clone joke there

…what follows is a total rip-off of the AotC scene where Obi-Wan chases Jango and Boba through the asteroids near Geonosis, complete with some rando Jedi following Breon and Zach. except they escape by shooting a wall with a torpedo and then hiding so it looks like they crashed into the wall Rando Jedi is clearly dumb as shit, because he falls for it. why is he there? idfk

i hate myself for making my parents read this. they must've been so disappointed. i bet that was the exact moment they realized why i was kicked out of honors classes after 7th grade.

chapter three! within the space of 57 words, they land on Yavin 4, spend the night in a hotel (do they even HAVE those on Y4????), Breon tells his son where to go, and then Zach takes off on his own.

i WANT to say Breon randomly gets killed at some point off-screen, but i honestly don't remember. too bad i can't keep it that way submitting to the mortifying ordeal of knowing myself here

mmkay so he heads to Dell, which has 11 moons and apparently extremely strong gravity that pulls the ship in, though there's no actual mention of the effects this would have on a human hanging out there or anything. Zach can't find a landing pad and instead lands the ship in a small field near a city.

Zach says 'people' and means 'humans'. kid's fucking xenophobic.

i'm now really glad this is short because it's excruciating.

he inexplicably gets stopped by two bounty hunters who are looking for a kid around his age LOL he namedrops his dad to scare them off

Zach then wanders around like "okay Breon McCoy is well known and i'm his son, so nobody can use me as bounty, unless i AM a bounty" and my brain just short-circuited a little

me: chapter four! he has no idea where these 'couriers' who are supposed to be awaiting him are, or even WHO they are Mary: nice going, Breon, you didn't give your kid any information me: Breon didn't do a great job prepping him for this, but that's what 57 words gets you, i guess

so he goes back to the Slave II and OH NOES IT'S GONE!!!!!!

a Dellian girl named Amandia is hanging around. that seems suspicious as fuck, but she tells Zach that a guy named Buz might've taken the ship and it's probably on Dell 2.

like. okay. so i guess Breon told Zach to find the couriers so they could help him find the crystal… and maybe Perrier is the bounty he's trying to find…?

okay, chapter five! Zach and Amandia are on a cliff, waiting for the gravity to shift. the explanation has something to do with the moons. idk.

so they step off the cliff and fall a bit and then just… start gliding through space, rising and falling with the gravity changes. again, 100% stolen from that novel. they eventually land on the moon (no idea how they breathed this entire time), but lol it's the wrong moon

yeah, Amandia's suspicious as fuck.

they do, however, make it to the correct moon. apparently "daylight never comes" there, so i'm going to assume it's tidally locked and they're just on the dark side. this inexplicably gives Zach an idea for his """"""""""""""""""""""""poem"""""""""""""""""""""

they walk for a while until they see another Dellian about Amandia's age, whatever that is. his name is… Noah. they need to use his speeder to get across the moon because Buz has his ship. how do you know that, Amandia… Zach isn't NEARLY suspicious enough for this line of work. she's so obviously working with this Buz dude, kiddo.

chapter six!

Zach. honey. she flies around on weird gravity tides. this girl doesn't give a FUCK about a super-fast speeder; she's trying to get you killed or sold into slavery or something.

so they take off in Noah's speeder, which is extremely fast. Zach's cool with this because he likes upgrading his own speeders, asks if this thing goes any faster, which ofc it does.

oh hey! we finally find out Zach lives on Naboo.

Noah's been to Kamino, apparently. i don't know how i missed the very clear fact that it's an extremely isolated planet and gets very very very few visitors

they see the Slave II! but suddenly it takes off and heads for another moon!!!!! SUSPENSO.

literally two pages left. i can't believe i packed so much into seven pages and yet there's absolutely no detail, action, exposition, character development, or even much in the way of PLOT here.

side note, i just remembered a part in my dream where R2-D2 had kidnapped a person and kept them buried in a shallow grave… but they were still alive and i saw him dig them up. their entire head had been skinned and they were like, weakly crying out for help. it was extremely creepy and fucked up. then C-3PO showed up and R2 quickly buried them again before 3PO noticed. so i guess i subconsciously think R2-D2 is some kind of sadistic serial killer or something? idk, man. let's go back to the story.

so Noah decides they can follow the Slave II in his own father's ship, hilariously called the 'Superfly'. he says he's eleven years old, too… so Amandia's just a kid also? maybe Buz is her dad and he's getting her started in the crime business early. wait wait no! i was wrong! it's ZACH who's eleven. Noah is thirteen and he's annoyed he can't have his own ship

they're so busy chatting they don't notice a "small fighter" approaching until it fires at them

and then there are like… five fighters? who fight each other? and one of them is Noah's brother… idk

anyway, they manage to land on Dell 8 after that, though the ship is slightly damaged from the hit they took

Mary: Is this entire 7 page story literally just jumping from moon to moon? me: PRETTY MUCH

they see Zach's ship but can't follow in their own, so Noah grabs a conveniently located speeder and they're off again!

chapter eight… they switch so Zach can drive… they catch up to the Slave II and Buz, whoever he is, gets out… they run past him onto the ship and he takes the speeder and leaves. that's. um. anticlimactic doesn't seem to cover it.

they hear something rattling around in the ship, but WHATEVER, Zach stops on the other moon and Noah leaves and then… well… you need to witness this for yourself.

i wasn't joking about the glove compartment thing. it's like the only thing from this story i really remembered lmfao also check OUT that amazing writing there.

chapter nine, Zach goes to a "government building" on Yavin 4 and hands over the crystal to some random official, who asks what he's doing here

look, i don't even know what this crystal is, what it does, why it's so valuable and everyone wants it… i just don't know.

me: Zach says he's looking for his father Mary: And here's where we find out…that his father is DEAD (I assume)

and then… AND THEN…

what was the crystal for? why did Buz steal Zach's ship, and why did he give it up so easily? does Zach ever go home? does the rest of his family even know Breon died? BEATS ME MAN

it's amazing. it's so bad. half the cringe comes from the inescapable knowledge that i made my family members read this. thank god i don't remember how they reacted

i bet Breon faked his death maybe he gave Zach the ship in hopes his secret lover Buz would bump him off in the process of stealing it. then they'd take the crystal, pawn it, and go off to start a new life together. Buz's daughter Amandia helps out and comes to live with them. Noah never gets his own ship. the end.

how did you start to write? kinda curious to know your trajectory

story time! (really happy you asked, hehe.) note: if anyone's interested in going through my past writings, let me know and i'll probably make a google drive folder lol.

I've been addicted to gaming ever since I was younger and I've always had hyperfixations that would come and go. Middle school was when I realized I had a love for reading books (mainly young adult, romance, fiction + manga) and I used to always spend my time in the school library during my lunch breaks.

2012: I was 13 and almost graduated from middle school. I adored Zelda/Link as a ship so much that I Googled 'Zelda x Link' to look for cute art, only to stumble across a website: Fanfiction.net. Yep. That site.

I read through a couple of stories and found myself hooked. I made an account, and I decided to start writing my own stories.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl had a huge impact on my life and holds a special place in my heart. It was all I'd ever written and thought about when I first started.

Around 2013, though, someone put a wrench on my Fanfiction.net journey by reporting my story -- it wasn't anything horrible, it was just a cringe Truth or Dare fanfiction that someone and their group said was "against" Fanfiction.net rules. That story got deleted, and out of impulse and feeling depressed, I deleted every single fanfiction I'd ever posted on my account.

I deeply regret doing so, because there were so many ideas that I can't look back on because my memory isn't able to recall a whole lot of them.

At least a few weeks after, though, I got onto Tumblr and got into Tumblr roleplaying! Fairy Tail was my next huge fixation and I made a roleplay blog focused on Edo-Cana from the Edolas arc (after I spoke with an Edo-Lucy blog). After I lost my inspiration for Edo-Cana, I moved on to Evergreen, and then Lucy Heartfilia.

I believe I lost interest in roleplaying on Tumblr around 2014.

2014: I was still writing on Fanfiction.net, but as usual, I would delete my fics when they didn't satisfy me. I wrote for a couple of other fandoms ranging from Big Hero Six, Rise of the Guardians/Young Justice, and more. I'd also joined websites like Quotev and Wattpad.

2015: In my junior year of high school, I made a friend who also had an interest in roleplaying. She introduced me to this one roleplaying website which allowed me to continue with writing.

However, as you can probably see, I have the absolutely terrible habit of losing interest in things quickly. I ended up quitting roleplaying due to that.

I also joined Archiveofourown. I don't remember if I'd ever posted anything around the time of joining. This is the one year I don't remember much for.

I also continued to post on Fanfiction.net:

As per usual, it lasted for *almost* a year.

November 10th, 2016 was the last time I ever posted on my Fanfiction.net account.

I had a dry spell when it came to writing for a good year and a half from 2016-2017.

April 21 2017: I played Final Fantasy XV and (it's what I hyperfixated on for a good 2 years). Around April 27-28, I already had a hankering for wanting to write fanfiction for it. I have so many ideas that haven't seen the light of day, and probably never will.

There's so many drafts, mostly unfinished, just sitting in my Google Drive.

August 2018: I posted a Prompto Argentum x Reader fic on archiveofourown, but eventually orphaned it and everything else I had posted.

October 2018: My hyperfixation for Red Dead Redemption 2 started. I thought up of ideas, plotlines, etc.

February 2019: I posted 3 Arthur Morgan x Reader fics. Which, you can probably already guess what the fuck happened to those. *orphaned. woooow.*

March 2019: I swore off writing anything else for my old Fanfiction.net account, and have left all of my fanfiction saved there.

2020-2021: Once more, I stopped writing and focused on trying to get through day by day life considering it was the COVID outbreak and I was only ever working. I never stopped reading fanfiction though. It's what's kept my writing decent -- at least, that's what I feel like. 2020 was when my hyperfixation on Final Fantasy 7/Remake started. I would think up of things.

March 23, 2022: (Not a writing thing, but I like to make note of it.) The start of my hyperfixation on Jujutsu Kaisen and Gojo!

December 2022: I finally posted a fic after so long. Haven't deleted it, and I swear I won't.

January 2023: Wrote my first ever M rated fic for Nero the Sable from Final Fantasy 7 Remake x Reader, and told myself I'd go back to writing. I haven't posted anything else on AO3 since then.

August 11, 2023: I learned of and created an account on character.ai!

September 18, 2023: I started making character.ai bots!

TL;DR:

As you can see, I'm an inconsistent person and have occasional moments of inspiration and eventually get tired of things. There will be times when I need a break from writing, so I apologize if it takes me a bit to get through all of my requests.
