How to Preserve a Preserved Bouquet
Tumblr media
A preserved bouquet is a unique and beautiful way to preserve flowers in an easy-to-display, long-lasting fashion. They are the perfect addition to your wedding day decor, or a thoughtful gift for a friend or family member, and will continue to look fresh after your big day is over.
There are many ways to preserve your bouquet, depending on your personal preferences and what you want it to look like. Some of the methods include using silica gel to dry your flower petals, casting them in resin, and pressing them flat.
Silica gel dried blooms are a great way to make your flowers last longer, as they only need to be dried for one to seven days, which is far shorter than other techniques. It will also keep your blooms looking the closest to how they looked on your special day.
You can use this method to preserve your whole bouquet, or select specific blooms that you'd like to keep. To get started, pour a small base layer of silica gel into your container and nestle your flower petals in it. Then, place the lid on your container and leave it to dry for about a week.
Resin-dipped flowers are another popular choice for brides who want to preserve their blooms. Unlike the first two options, resin-dipped flowers are much more permanent, and they won't change color over time (unlike dried flowers).
This process is a little more complex than the other methods listed here. You will need to purchase a mold to cast your flowers in, as well as a thin base of resin. Next, you will place your flowers face up in the resin, and work slowly to pour the resin over them. It's important to be careful during this process, as air bubbles can cause the flowers to turn brown.
Pressed flowers in nsw are a quick and simple way to preserve your bouquet, but you will lose the 3D shape of the blooms. This method will work for a large bouquet, but for smaller ones, this might not be the best option. It's also best to press your flowers with wax or parchment paper and not paper towels, which can cause a lot of ink to run down the stems.
You can also purchase a floral preservation kit from Etsy and Not On the High Street, which will allow you to press your own blooms without any professional help. The kits come with a weighted hardback book, parchment paper, and a spray of hairspray for protection.
Once your blooms are dried, you can frame them or pin them to the lapel of your blazer! They are a beautiful and unique way to show your love, and will be the perfect accent piece for any room in your home.
Preserved blooms are the perfect way to relive your wedding day every time you look at them! You can even choose a colour that means something to you.
There are so many unique ways to preserve your bouquet, but if you're looking for a way to remember your wedding forever, there's no better option than a preserved bouquet. Whether you want to display your bouquet on the wall, or pin it to your lapel, these methods are sure to be a hit! To know more information visit at funkyflowers.com.au.

starter for: @islaricci location: busy bee botanicals
Savannah might be living in the trashiest house in Sutherland Park, but her little place had a decent enough front yard if she could get some gardening done and plant a few things. She didn't have much experience in too many practical things since her husband had never really let her work, so gardening was something she'd spent a lot of time doing back in Georgia and she felt comfortable in the flower shop. The blonde walked up and down a few rows, trying to decide which plants and flowers would look best in her yard. "Oh, 'scuse me honey, can I just squeeze past ya? I'm thinkin' that those marigolds would be perfect in my yard but I don't wanna be in your way while you're lookin'." She smiled at the woman as she put a gentle hand on her back between her shoulders.

Saturday 14 April 1838
7 ¾
12 ½
fine morning F46 ½° at 9 ¼ and breakfast – had stood before dressing reading over the letter to Mrs. Sutherland and making a little explanatory addition – and looked into the morning Herald’s for an article on the fine arts for A- to see – Fuselis’ lectures at the Royal academy – his observation on back ground – Poussins’ excellence in those and Raphael’s faultiness – vid. Herald of Saturday 7th instant – sat talking to A- till 10 – then out 1st having had 1st time Riley tailor with Robert Mann and Jack Green in the flower garden – 2 of his men filling my own and George Naylors’ carts with small stones from the old Conery Lane and bringing them into the garden for laying out the top of turret passage – then with John Booth looking over the land – till 12 – then called home to pay Mr. Milligan for painting at Little Marsh – then A- having SW. told him to see about the stone being got out of the shop-site at Northgate – then in the west tower – Firth and his man just finishing laying all new lead piping (and taking up all that done by [Sarvill’s] man from York) to the water closets and my west tower study and the housemaids closet – then planning (by myself) about library steps – then with A- at her luncheon and came upstairs at 1 and wrote so far of today – then SW. having paid A- Bairstows’ water lane mill rent £60 in dirty gave A- B. of England for them part of the navigation proceeds received from Mr. Parker this day week – then inking over pencil accounts till 1 ¾ - vid. above between lines 4 and 5 Riley seems a civil little man – said he used to work for Mr. Lowe – thinks the best double milled kersimere can be had for 7/. a yard will take 1 7/8 or perhaps 1 ¾ for pair of smalls seated for George the groom – making will be 7/. – to be done by Wednesday morning – not lined – shewed him the cloth from Duncan for Georges’ last coat – narrow at 7/6 per yard – he thought it worth 6/. – I agreed – did not name the price but said I had found great fault – and should in future buy my own cloth at Leeds – R- said the smalls would be under a pound – at accounts till 2 ½ then went down to A- for ¾ hour – then out in the flower garden with Robert Mann + 3 or 4 – George Naylors’ cart and my own carting small stone from the old Conery lane this morning and soil from Listerwick this afternoon – A- not off till about 5 ½ walked by her side almost to Mitham – then kept Robert Mann and Jack Green dressing up about Gray’s fountain till 7 –
SH:7/ML/E/21/0078
then loitering out near ½ hour – then settled with the garden for men this week in the garden helping to shift soil etc. and paid him 1 quarters’ wages up to the 1st instant – dinner at 7 35 and came upstairs in about an hour – had sat looking into Phillips’ geology – upstairs looking into the Quarterly Review come tonight – chiefly lists of new publications – read the newspaper and wrote the last 8 lines of today – Letter tonight (2pp. of ½ sheet) franked by Lord Stuart from Lady Stuart Whitehall – will  be very glad to see me at the Lodge – hopes to let her house for a few months – no mention of length of time  perhaps I shall find a fortnight too long – fine day F41° now at 11 5 pm – no Mann this evening – Joseph sinking (Listerwick pit) till 10 tonight, and Robert would rather come on Monday night – poorly tonight – sore throat – would go from here to Mr. Jubb – Joseph will not come to settle till the pit is bottomed – have got to the 2nd hard band, and not a deep of water – very good sign – we shall probably bottom the pit without difficulty – Supposing H-x and its vicinity to maintain 20,000 room fires these at 1 load per week each would consume 20,000 x 50 = 1,000,000 loads per annum at 5 loads out of each square yard of ground = 1,000,000/5 = 200,00 yards super/4840 = 41 156/4840 acres
9 loads = 1 ton or say 10 loads = 1 ton and suppose the household fires of H-x to consume 100,000 tons the product of 40 acres per annum
suppose ½ the quantity to be supplied by Wike, by canal and sundry places then 20 acres remain (exclusive of engines furnished by Messrs. Holt, Stocks etc. etc.) to be wrought by Rawson Holt Wilson, Stocks, the Spiggs c°, and myself – R- cannot do much more – W-‘s concern will fall into other hands and probably share with me the [furnishing] greater part of the supply for Holt and Stocks are distant from the town and the Spiggs c° cannot drive any great trade – It seems probable that I may be able to sell by and by and when well established 4 or 5 acres a year or perhaps more if my coal is of as good quality as is expected –
Supposed consumption of house-coal in H-x 4 or 5 acres may be sold at Listerwick?

TMI Tuesday
Happy ‘Inclement Weather Day’ Tuesday
I’m home today, but of course my time is /still/ not my own - very frustrating!
We have one week left in the nomination period for the 2022 Espenson Awards (the TEAs). You can find my For Your Consideration post here. Though I plan on making an updated post (might have to be split in two), later today. The FYC list is by no means exhaustive, and if you don’t see your favorite fic listed there, please feel free to nominate it for whatever you feel is appropriate.  If you also send me a message, I will go ahead and make an FYC for it.  Thanks to all the readers who help to make the writers’ fics even more worthwhile!
Anyway, here’s what we’ve got going on, so that you guys know what is on the table for you to ask about.
Posted this week:
Cobra: In Your Prayers - chapter 3
Sutherland's government and cabinet members might think the disasters faced because of the cyber attacks are finished, but around the world, allies and enemies alike are discovering that not to be the case. Disasters escalate, and it takes multiple agencies to tackle the problem head on. As if that weren't enough, the personal lives of people seems to be unraveling before their very eyes.
Written or writing this week:
Disparate Pathways - chapter 38
Gold has a past, a past that he has rejected, but it seems one that will not let him go. Belle, daughter of Governor Maurice French has been kidnapped, along with her mother, and just as the authorities raid the organization that is holding her hostage, decides to make her own bid for freedom, unknowingly derailing an undercover sting, and Agent Milnor has not choice but to take her into 'protective custody,' but is he all that he seems? As the threads of the story grow more tangled and the threat to Belle, and to Gold, her appointed protector, grow ever more real, a growing, mutual attraction makes everything far more desperate and far too personal for Gold to ignore what he knows to be the truth.
Lover’s Leap Series - Part 14
Rumplestiltskin has fallen foul of a fairy curse, and Belle volunteers to take on the curse herself in order to help break it.
Next up:
Tuesday  - Chapter 3
When you go poking around in time, you might sometimes find that it pushes back, as Nick Rush finds out… the hard way.
Ask suggestions
Ask something about any of my fics (full list is below the cut). If you want specifics from some fics that are already outlined, you can ask about:
Disparate Pathways, Chapters 38 through 54 All Our Past Mistakes, Chapters 11 through 44 Lover’s Leap Series, Stories 14 through 31 Time’s Curse, Chapters 4 through 10
Ask something of any of my characters in general or you can get really specific if you like - for example you might want to ask Gold from Pawn Shop a question about a chapter, a thought, a feeling… (the world is your oyster really)
Ask about my process as a writer, what makes me tick,, or even ask about me personally.
Also, if you want to see a specific character or fic featured in Secret Saturday, feel free to send in prompts, if no one does, then the choice will be random.
You can find all my fics here, and there is a full list under the cut.

Survey #510
“i’ll chew up and i’ll spit you out, ‘cuz that’s what young love is all about”
What was the last kind of snake you saw? Well, I own a ball python, but if we're talking wild snakes, I think it was literally YEEEEEEAAAAARS ago (like, two houses ago lol) when there was a maaaaaassive rat snake just basking in our yard. It was super, super chill. It sounds crazy, but I don't think I've seen a snake in the wild since. What's your favorite place? The zoo, so long as they're good ones that respect the needs of the animals. Ours seems pretty informed. The "enclosures" (it's hard to even call them that, because they're so immense) for things like the elephants and bison are insane. What are you listening to? Gab Smolders play Resident Evil 4 in VR. How is your relationship with your last ex? We're best friends! What's the book you're currently reading? Moon Rising by Tui T. Sutherland. I'm very close to being done, and then I'll move onto Darkstalker by the same author. Were you named after anyone? No. Where was your mother born? New York. What was the last comic book you read? I've never read a comic book. Do you think you'd make a good parent? I would be an awful parent. Would you ever consider adopting? Even if I wanted kids, no. What's a strange memory from your childhood? I remember one day as a young kid (but not quite a baby) I once walked outside without a shirt lmao. I really acted like I was a boy. Mind you this was obviously WAY before puberty. Do you think cheaters (in a relationship) deserve a second chance? Nnnnnope. How did you meet your boyfriend/girlfriend? We met in high school band. Can you sing? Definitely not well. I can't hold a note. Are you a good student? I was a great student up through high school. I just... changed in college. I was a procrastinator and usually didn't try my very best. What's a favorite movie someone else introduced you to? It's not one of my favorites, but I really loved Logan when I went to see it with Tyler. Made me cry. Do you know anyone your age who has a child? Well yeah, I know plenty. I'm nearly 26. Do you like where you live? Absolutely not. It is VERY dull here with nothing truly fun to do. There's just agriculture, factories, cleared out forests... it sucks. Would you move? Holy FUCK yes. However, because I have a boyfriend I truly love and don't want to leave, I wouldn't move too far right now. I just want to be back in the woods. What was the last thing you drew? I tried to draw a meerkat face from a profile angle on my tablet some while ago, but that was uuuuuugly. What's something most people don't know about you? Ummm maybe that I fucking love tarantulas. You wouldn't guess because I have mild arachnophobia, plus so few people enjoy them in general. What's your favorite thing to do? Watch YouTube ig. What's your favorite type of food? American. What's something you can't live without and why? My life would DRASTICALLY change without the Internet. I know I would be immensely depressed. Where's your favorite place to shop at? Hot Topic and Rebel's Market. Are you going out of town anytime soon? No. Have you ever felt replaced? Oh, many times. What's something you could see yourself going to jail for? I dunno. If you could design an amusement park, what would it be like? I have no idea. Could you seriously have sex using a colored condom? Bro I don't care, I just care that we have a condom lmao. Have any favorite quotes? Not really. Are you good at “biting your tongue”? Depends on the topic, but I'd say usually. Are you good at the game Twister? I was fine as a kid, but I absolutely fucking never could as an adult for numerous reasons. What’s the last thing that really had you crying? My life. Would you rather get [another] tattoo or piercing? TATTOO. What’s a pretty flower? Deep red roses. Do you think there’s any truth to the zodiac? Absolutely not. Where was your Facebook profile picture taken? My old house. Can you tell I don't take selfies much at all? Do your parents smoke? My father does, veeeery badly. Is your favourite animal endangered? No, thank CHRIST. Have you used Wikipedia today? No. Are you better at writing fiction or non-fiction? Oh, 100% fiction. What language do you think you’d fail at? I took Latin for a semester, and it was so fucking difficult. Would you prefer an ice cream cake or a regular cake? Regular, for sure. What’s the view like from your bedroom window? It's literally just the shed and the nearby houses. So boring. Generally speaking, do you prefer sweet or savory? Sweet. What would you do if you got home and you saw your house had been destroyed? Just fucking shatter. I'd also definitely look for Roman and Venus. Who is your favourite Sesame Street character? I don't have one. Do you like your PopTarts toasted or cold? I always eat them the way they are. Do you like sitting in the front, back, or middle of the classroom? I have to sit in the front because I'm blind as a bat. What’s your least favorite flavor of candy? Licorice. Do you know anyone who has been struck by lightning before? Not that I know of. Which is worse: living where there’s lots of tornadoes or lots of hurricanes? TORNADOES. I am TERRIFIED of them. I'm very used to hurricanes. Have you ever thought your pet was dead but really wasn’t? Yes. Horrific feeling. Do you take anything for your cramps during that time of month? Ibuprofen, yes. Have you ever seen a black rose? No, but that'd be cool! Do you believe in angels? No. Would you pay if your dog needed an operation? I don't have any income or dog. Have you ever seen elephant droppings? Maybe at the zoo. Have you ever read about Rome? In World History and Art History classes, yes. You’re locked in a room with the person you fell the hardest for. Problems? Oh god, the tension would probably be unreal. What was the last good news you heard? Good question, man. It's been a while. Who was the last person to comment on your Facebook status? Franky. How did you meet him/her? He's my half-sister's husband. He's great. Have you recently interacted with anyone new, on social media? No. Do you own anything that has an image of a unicorn on it? Yes; it's a poster with a unicorn at therapy and the doctor is saying, "You need to believe in yourself," lmao. Do you currently have any vases of flowers in your house? No. Are you embarrassed to show people your ID photo? Yup. Does the thought of being pregnant gross you out? YES. Are you good at making shadow puppets? No, not really. Are you prone to headaches? Yes. Do you enjoy going out to dinner? Yes. Have you read any news articles today? No. Have you ever owned/used a typewriter? Mom had an old one in my childhood. I'd play with it sometimes. Do you own any dogs? What are their names? Yes, Cookie. Have you had your appendix out, or do you know anyone who has? I don't, but I know someone who has because it nearly exploded. When you hear the name “Ginger” what do you think of? Jason's old beagle. Who is your least favorite character on your favorite television show? Having a disliked character is literally impossible in Meerkat Manor. What’s one hobby that you’d like to take up? HERPING. :( I'm just not in an area where you really can, and more so than that, I could never physically manage it. Do any of your friends have children? Yes. What was the last thing you ate? One of those disc-like Quaker oatmeal cakes. Did any particular thing brighten up your day today? Girt just being really understanding that I didn't feel like hanging today. Did you go outside for more than thirty minutes today? I haven't been outside at all. How has your health been lately? My health is always bad. Do you wear contacts? No, they are WAY too much of a nuisance. I've tried, but because my vision is so bad in one eye, I had to wear a weighted contact, which I could constantly feel in my eye, and it was also heavy and made my head hurt. Any cool small businesses in your area? We have a snow cone/slushie place called Pelican's a town over, and it is INCREDIBLE. Like how can a simple snow cone be so good? You'll never know 'til you try it. Do you have a favorite drummer? Who? No. What about a favorite guitarist? Who? Also no. What is your #1 dealbreaker with friendships? (Why you wouldn’t be friends) Probably being a massive gossip or acting like you're friends with someone only to hate them behind their back. Have you ever had a retro celebrity crush? Like a crush on an “old” celebrity who was most famous a long time ago or is long dead? Does James Hetfield count? Being Metallica's vocalist, he's obviously a huge icon in metal music, especially back in the day, and by god is he hot with shorter hair lmao. He is my mother's true love, genuinely, ha ha. Are you interested in fashion? No. Do you prefer beef or chicken tacos? I hate tacos. What part of your body seems to get cold the most? My feet.

from a workshop with Ross Sutherland 16 November 2018 inspired by a Wikipedia snippet on a festival at Epcot
I met a girl a few weeks ago in a comic book shop. I was looking at a comic on the new releases wall about Peter Pan, except Peter Pan was female not like how female actors have played the male role but a female Peter Pan character ... it’s not important
The point is this girl was browsing nearby me and I got distracted because the whole tip of her index finger was a luminous green I thought maybe she’d dipped it in paint I checked the price on the Peter Pan comic and then she spoke to me
“Hey,” she said, “I made a Peter Pan topiary for Epcot” I looked up at her, confused and surprised and only having heard about half her sentence, to be honest “What?” She smiled patiently “You like Peter Pan?” “Yeah,” I said, “sure. Even better as a girl” “You know the  Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival?” “Yeah, sure,” I lied She must’ve realised from my tone because she said, “It happens every spring at Disney World. There’s topiaries of Disney characters.” “Right,” I said She told me again—“I made the Peter Pan topiary” she told me this was in 2015 she told me how she grew the plant how she sculpted it into the shape of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell flying in a haze of tiny twinkling lights symbolizing pixie dust
I glanced down at the cover of the comic in my hands again girl-Peter was standing with her legs wide her hands on her hips a mischievous smile twisting her lips I tried to imagine her in plant form leafier greener greener. my eyes flicked to the girl’s index finger “Maybe next spring you can do this version,” I said, holding up the comic But the girl shook her head she said that it was just a one-time thing they never invited her back to Epcot I asked why she shrugged “Maybe my topiary was too good,” she said too realistic, I thought and then wondered why I had thought that
The girl did a sort of shuffle with her feet like she was getting ready to leave I wanted to say something to make her stay but didn’t “You going to buy your comic?” she asked I blinked, processing what she’d said “No,” I said I set it back on the shelf with the other new releases from indie publishers one of the corners was a little pinched bent from where I’d held it too tightly but only barely
When I looked up again the girl was gone I drifted through the shop under the guise of looking for Star Wars trade paperbacks but really I was thinking maybe that idiom—having a green thumb had its basis in fact only somewhere along the way someone mixed up the fingers.

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered
Written by: Marti Noxon
Directed by: James A. Contner
Starring: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Head, Charisma Carpenter, Kristine Sutherland, David Boreanaz, Juliet Landau, Robia LaMorte, Elizabeth Anne Allen, Mercedes McNab, and Seth Green.
Welcome to Episode 16, in which Xander acts completely out of character by trying to force women into doing what he wants and getting angry when they won’t.
Outfit 1
Tumblr media
I love a scarf. Patterned, knitted, silk, bandanna, all of them. They were one of my most frequent op shop/vintage purchases. Mostly because you find some amazing stuff but mostly because a scarf always fits. One of my favourite vintage scarves is a Carla Zampatti one I bought at Glebe Market in Sydney. It’s paisley and it’s wonderful.
Tumblr media
It’s a fun take on her patrol look. What’s not fun is the baggy pants and loose coat. Or that Buffy thinks Xander is too good for Cordelia.
Outfit 2
Tumblr media
I was wrong about cowl necks being more early 2000s. Trends took a long time to get to us so if I was wearing cowl necks in the early 2000s they probably did start in, like, the 90s. This seems like a lot of velour. Brown velour.
Tumblr media
There’s also brown pants. They’re baggy. Are they culottes? Gaucho pants? I... uh, they’re ok.
Tumblr media
But her hair is crazy good.
Xander’s friends don’t approve of his dating Cordelia, but he doesn’t really give a shit. Cordelia’s friends, however, really disapprove and Cordy gives a bit of a shit.
Tumblr media
I give a shit about how great she looks here.
Tumblr media
I am living for these 70s style wrap dresses on Harmony.
Outfit 3
Tumblr media
Buffy’s Valentine’s Day Dance look is ‘staying at home because ex-boyfriend is literally a psycho.’ And I dig it.
Tumblr media
In a shocking twist, Angelus acts completely out of character by stalking Buffy and giving her creepy gifts. This time it’s flowers with a card that says ‘soon.’
Tumblr media
It’s a scary gift, but it’s also scary how good her hair is.
Tumblr media
Cordelia looks amazing.
Tumblr media
If Harmony’s hair was pulled back with butterfly clips this would have been absolute perfection.
Tumblr media
Xander mentions Buffy picked this outfit and it feels like he looks like someone else...
Oh, and Cordelia breaks up with him after he gives her a necklace that is actually quite pretty.
Outfit 4
Tumblr media
This is a classic Buffy look and I love it. Between this and rewatching Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 I’m ready to consider an animal print mini.
Tumblr media
The hair in this episode is so fucking good.
Tumblr media
Swoon.
Tumblr media
Xander’s wearing some really terrible velour, but I suppose it’s ok because he’s experiencing a break-up. Meanwhile, Harmony and her mean friends look amazing. I mean, can I get that dress the blonde girl is wearing?
Tumblr media
Cordelia’s look is way off. Proof she’s grieving. She’s giving the necklace back to Xander because he wants to do a love spell to humiliate Cordelia for the crime of not liking him the way he likes her. Except she does and this obviously backfires terribly but I’m getting ahead of myself.
Tumblr media
Oh, and Amy’s a witch or whatever.
Outfit 5
Tumblr media
This is cute. I’m ok with it. I’m more than ok with the hair.
Tumblr media
Xander fucked the love spell up because Cordelia’s necklace somehow protected her from it. Basically, every woman who comes into contact with Xander falls under the spell and it’s... painful to watch. Buffy here is under the influence of said spell. I think these are black pants. I wanted them to be jeans, but hey. Life is full of disappointments.
Tumblr media
This feels like a standard response to having to talk to Xander.
Tumblr media
So can Willow make anything infinitely cuter, or is it that Xander’s clothes just look terrible on him?
Outfit 6
Tumblr media
Xander’s dream scenario is quickly becoming his worst nightmare because the spell has nothing to do with love and everything to do with obsession and the dark side of women being socialised to compete for the attention of men. Having said that, this is one of Buffy’s best coats.
Tumblr media
And the hair. Is. Amazing.
Tumblr media
Oh, and Amy can turn people into rats or whatever.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile. Cordelia can’t win with Harmony and her friends. She is winning with me, however, because this dress is pretty great.
Tumblr media
This wrap dress also wins.
Tumblr media
This was actually a look. I may have wanted this hair. I read the novelisation of this episode and I think she was described as having hair that made a U at the ends. Or something. It was a long time ago when I thought Xander was cute and funny.
Tumblr media
Oz punched Xander and it was hot but I think Willow can handle herself. I also hope she’s stolen Xander’s flanno forever because it’s way better on her.
Oh, and everyone goes even more nuts for Xander, including Drusilla and Buffy’s mum and he and Cordelia are almost mobbed to death. Luckily, Giles convinces Amy to help him reverse the spell and Buffy is human again and everyone except Cordelia comes to their senses and remembers Xander sucks.
Outfit 7
Tumblr media
Buffy’s giving Xander a bit of shit for this stupid spell, particularly for how much it hurt Willow’s feelings. But she’s also pretty lenient with him because he chose not to take advantage of her while she was under the spell. Like every single man should ever all the time.
Tumblr media
This hair is a bit of a disappointment after such a dream run, but you know I love a scrunchie.
Tumblr media
Cordelia is back and in charge. You can tell this from the popped collar. Harmony also looks great but it’s obvious from the muted colours and cardigan that the power dynamics have shifted.
Tumblr media
I mean, her choice is bad. But it’s her choice and she’s standing up for herself and it’s good, I guess.
Up next, bad things happen. Really bad. It’s... not gonna be fun.
Tumblr media
Until then, Slayerettes.

heritage homeowners insurance
heritage homeowners insurance can be complicated. Here’s how to go about it. It’s important to understand homeowners insurance. A policy that’s minimumed and contains exclusions may not be a deal breaker if your home would be considered commercial for commercial purposes like traffic, construction or insurance on a rental property. For example, home insurance does not protect you against damage or property damage. Talk to your agent about specific risks or make changes to add. It’s also important to do your homework to make sure you have insurance you can maintain while you’re out of town. It has been suggested that a few of Hiawasi State’s major corporations, and sometimes the National Banks Union, buy coverage and can bundle together when there have been a loss of employment for a few months. The insurance companies then use this information to raise their rates. Talk to your agent about which carriers are willing to offer you a better rate,. heritage homeowners insurance has provided thousands of homeowners affordable rates. That’s why the leading carriers in the industry are all friends in every department. While the best coverage isn’t always the absolute best, we strive to offer you the highest value, outstanding customer service at an affordable price. Browse. Compare. Discover. The policy covers your belongings and any liability caused by you or your pets. Your policy also covers additional structures or garages if you are living in an area where these are vulnerable or you rent out a home while living elsewhere. The policy also covers your mortgage and will pay for your living expenses if something happens like a fire, flood, water strike or extreme extreme cold. Many renters, condo and landlord insurance policies will also cover personal belongings and other structures you’ve been renting out and will also cover for legal costs if someone gets hurt at your residence. Many of the best homeowners insurance policies won’t cover your personal property. They’ll reimburse you for things not specifically insured for. This includes items like clothing, phones, furniture, flowers and other valuables. Policies usually provide full damages, losses only if damaged to a substantial extent, and a replacement value at the end of the policy if the cost of replacing items.

However, after reading the rest, I found out that my health insurance rate was $2125 per month for self-employed and $1,075 for workers. That is really a significant amount of health costs that we actually want to avoid too. But I’m thinking for the rest of the article. If I were a single woman I would only buy insurance in the first place, I would buy health insurance for people that I like my health life. TMI Tuesday
It’s (Mental Health) work from home Tuesday!
Here’s the invitation to hit my inbox.
Posted this week:
Disparate Pathways - Chapter 32
Written or writing this week:
November Monthly Rumbelling, a fic called Inheritance, Over 7k words long, I finally finished it on Sunday, so onward to...
Chapter 33 of Disparate Pathways which I finished yesterday, so now...
Chapter 3 of Cobra: In Your Prayers.
Next up:
Darkness Falls on Hyperion Heights - Chapter 3
When Librarian and Scholar Belle French arrives in Hyperion Heights in search of an artifact stolen from the British Museum and to enlist the help of Detective Weaver in that search, events in the Heights go from mildly intruiging to dangerously terrifying. Can Belle and Detective Weaver find the truth before time runs out?
Disparate Pathways - Chapter 34
Gold has a past, a past that he has rejected, but it seems one that will not let him go. Belle, daughter of Governor Maurice French has been kidnapped, along with her mother, and just as the authorities raid the organization that is holding her hostage, decides to make her own bid for freedom, unknowingly derailing an undercover sting, and Agent Milnor has not choice but to take her into ‘protective custody,’ but is he all that he seems? As the threads of the story grow more tangled and the threat to Belle, and to Gold, her appointed protector, grow ever more real, a growing, mutual attraction makes everything far more desperate and far too personal for Gold to ignore what he knows to be the truth.
Cobra - In Your Prayers - Chapter 4
In the days following the supposed end of the Cyberwar, Robert Sutherland is forced to face several uncomfortable truths, and multiple agents and agencies must work together - must cooperate - in order to find the real power behind the dangerous, rogue code. A multi-crossover to include Cobra, FatWS and UC:Undercover, to name a few.
Ask suggestions
Ask something about any of my fics (full list is below the cut). If you want specifics from some fics that are already outlined, you can ask about:
Disparate Pathways, Chapters 32 through 52 All Our Past Mistakes, Chapters 11 through 44 Lover’s Leap Series, Stories 14 through 31 Time’s Curse, Chapters 4 through 10
Ask something of any of my characters in general or you can get really specific if you like - for example you might want to ask Gold from Pawn Shop a question about a chapter, a thought, a feeling… (the world is your oyster really)
Ask about my process as a writer, what makes me tick,, or even ask about me personally. There’s this meme  if you so desire, and there’s also the 3 things meme.  Thanks to those who have already sent me 3 things questions.  I’m going to answer them, but I might wait until Thursday to do that, since that’s when I do Three Things Thursday, though that tends to be fic specific.
Also, if you want to see a specific character or fic featured in Secret Saturday, feel free to send in prompts, if no one does, then the choice will be random.
You can find all my fics here, and there is a full list under the cut.

“The Mommy Myth”: Revolt against the MRS (Part One)
Tumblr media
MRS: As explained, “Today we acknowledge that women inhabit many identities throughout the day, and they can be in conflict with each other, so we are constantly negotiating among them. But what the feminine mystique exposed was that all women, each and every one of them, were supposed to inhabit one and only one seamless subject position: that of the selfless, never complaining, always happy wife and mother who cheerfully eradicated whatever other identities she might have had and instead put her husband, her children, and the cleanliness of her house first. Once you grew up, you were supposed to encase yourself in this subject position as if it were a wetsuit, and never take it off. This asphyxiating and disciplining subject position might best be called Moms ‘R’ Us, or MRS, the wife/mother...”
The Women’s International Conspiracy from Hell (WITCH), Mother’s Day, Cleveland, 1969. Broadsides were posted on telephone poles reading:
Today, one day of the year, America is celebrating Motherhood, in home...church...restaurant...candy shop...flower store. The other 364 days she preserves the apple pie of family life and togetherness, and protects the sanctity of the male ego and profit. She lives through her husband and children. She is sacrificed on the alter of reproduction...she is damned to the dreary world of domesticity by day, and legal rape by night...She is convinced that happiness and her lost identity can be recovered by buying--more and more and more and more.
Tumblr media
“Wages for Housework”
We clean your homes and your factories. We raise the next generation of workers for you. Whatever else we may do, we are the housewives of the world. In return for our work, you have only asked us to work harder...we are serving notice to you that we intend to be paid for the work we do. We want wages for every dirty toilet, every painful childbirth, every indecent assault, every cup of coffee, and every smile. And if we don’t get what we want, then we will simply refuse to work any longer. Now you will rot in your own garbage. We want it in cash, retroactive and immediately. And we want all of it.
Gloria Steinem’s hopes for the future in U.S. News and World Report, 1975
Responsibility for children won’t be exclusively the woman’s anymore, but shared equally by men--and shared by the community, too. That means that work patterns will change for both women and men, and women can enter all fields just as men can.

The late 1960s for women:
Men got paid more than women for the same exact job.
Women could get credit cards in their husband’s name but not their own.
Many divorced, single, and separated women found it hard to get credit cards at all.
Women could not get mortgages on their own and if a couple applied for one, only the husband’s income was considered.
Women faced discrimination in education, scholarship awards, and on the job.
The collective marriage property was legally the husband’s.
Women kept out of various jobs, like: doctor, college professor, bus driver, business manager.
Knocked out in the delivery room.
Birth Control options were limited (and abortion was illegal).
1960 statistics (it’s not all Leave It To Beaver)
40% of the work force were women, even with young children.
It was not reflected in the law or the media.
“Yeah flirting is fun. A man opens a door for me, I thank him, he smiles---and electricity ripples through us both. A year later I’m flushing out a diaper and he’s opening other doors.” Carold Hanish and Elizabeth Sutherland, Women of the World Unite--We Have Nothing to Lose But Our Men!

In March 18, 1970. Several feminists came into the offices of Ladies Home Journal to stage what would be an 11 hour sit-in to suggest changes to it (and after that, all women’s magazines) where they asserted as the magazine was a magazine for mothers and wives, they needed to establish an on-site childcare center for employees with young children and it’d be run entirely by women and that “the magazine seek out nonwhite women for its staff in proportion to the population”, then added minimum wage and worker participation in editorial decisions. The Editor in Chief, John Mack Carter agreed to an eight-page insert in the August 1970 issue.

The insert contained articles and sidebars entitled “Housewives’ Bill of Rights” (demands for paid maternity leave, paid vacations, free 24 hour childcare centers, social security benefits for years of labor in the home, health insurance”. “Help Wanted: Female. 99.6 Hours a Week. No Pay. Bed and Bored. Must Be Good with Children” talked about the inequities of homemaking and the less glamorous parts of homemaking and with all the work to make the home comfy they are greeted by smirking husbands asking what they have done all day.
“Babies Are Born, Not Delivered”, the writer/new mom documented what happened in the maternity ward (to Susan Mayfield, Karen Wheeler, Mrs. Sinclair, Claudia Henderson): pubic hair shaved off, being wheeled into a room on her lonesome, being told by a resident when she would actually have the baby, being told her pains weren’t real and she’d have to wait for the doctor, when about to deliver an anesthesiologist appeared and gave her a spinal despite her protests, doctor pulled baby out with forceps.
The articles spoke to the readers like they are comrades together rather than “I am the expert and you’re not” tone.

In 1972 (first appearing as an insert in the NYT in 1971), Ms. Magazine was born. Letters to the Editor had women of all ages and backgrounds flooding the section with letters about their grind with sexism. Jane O’Rielly wrote her famous essay “The Housewife’s Moment of Truth” with her “click” moments where she writes that:
I thought that most of my clicks were behind me, but tonight, as I cleared the table, I had a new one. I was complimenting myself (since no one else had) on a meal I’d gone to some trouble to prepare. I began to wonder why so many of us wait trembling for “the verdict” at every meal; why my mother and so many others risk antagonizing their families by asking outright if everything is okay.
I decided it’s not just neurosis. We really know they’re judging even when they don’t say so. Housewifing is an occupation in which every single waking act is judged by the persons who mean the most to you in the world. Is the house clean? Is the food good? Are the children well-behaved?
A thousand times a day our contracts come up for renewal. No wonder our nerves are shot.

Here are some following article titles from actual Ms. articles:
1973 had “Job Advice for ‘Just a Housewife’” in the November issue and it’s May issue devoted to motherhood with Letty Cottin Pogrebin writing “We care deeply about children whether we have our own or not. We work to improve educational curricula, child-care facilities, health services, and the childbirth experience. We are saying that men are parents too; that fatherhood need be no less important or time-consuming than motherhood...Truly, feminists are talking about choice: about making the decision to become pregnant and choosing a motherly role that is right for ourselves and our children.”
1974 had articles titled “New Help for Mothers Alone” (February), “How the Economy Uses Housewives” (May), and “Surviving Widowhood” and “Must We Be Childless to be Free?” (October).
1975 had “Kids in the Office, and What-Else-Is-New with Child Care” in March, “How Hospitals Complicate Childbirth” (June), and a special section on mothers and daughters in June.
Earlier that decade, writer Alix Kates Shulman (of works like Memoirs of an Ex-Prom Queen, the ultimate Karen Wheeler book, and planned the 1968 demonstrations outside of the Miss America contest) wrote about that her previously equal companionship with her husband deteriorated when they had children.
Now I was restricted to the company of two demanding preschoolers and to the four walls of an apartment. It seemed unfair that while my husband’s life had changed little when the children were born, domestic life had become the only life I had”
His work demanded more travel and late nights, so they wrote a marriage agreement where they asserted that “each member of the family has an equal right to his/her own time, work, values, and choices...The ability to earn more money is already a privilege which must not be compounded by enabling the larger earner to buy out of his/her duties and put the burden on the one who earns less, or on someone hired from outside” and that domestic jobs be shared 50/50 and any “overtime in any domestic job, she/he must be compensated by equal extra work by the other” and had a job breakdown that included childcare duties like: waking, getting clothes ready, making lunches, seeing notes and homework and money and passes and books must be collected, getting babysitters (hours of phoning), calling doctors and checking symptoms and filling prescriptions, staying home with sick kids, providing activities. Shulman and her husband became happier, she wrote more books for adults and children, and her husband after 4 months of the agreement heard their daughter say “You know Daddy, I used to love Mommy more than you, but now I love you both the same.”

Soon magazines started writing sample marriage contracts with even Glamour magazine featuring an article how to write your own contract. There were also men staying home as househusbands with one telling Time magazine in 1974: “I love my son Adam, but I can see how taking care of a kid can drive a woman up the wall.” Dr. Spock (and other childcare experts) were taken to task for assuming that whatever happened with kids was Mom’s fault and her responsibility. Gloria Steinem cited Department of Labor stats that put the value of a housewife’s work value to be around $8000-$9000 a year because that is what would cost her husband to pay for the services of a housewife, including prostitution (see Marital Rape and faking orgasms). Naturally people cried “Communism!” or “offensive to middle-class sensibilities”. McCall’s magazine citing a study from Chase Manhattan Bank economist noted that for a man to hire a cook, laundress, nursemaid, chauffeur, and gardener he’d be paying $10 grand a year back then and nuns did about the same work as housewives but were entitled to Social Security. Clare Booth Luce, in 1977 for The Saturday Evening Post, wrote that the work of housewives and mothers was now worth $20,000 a year.
Childcare became a hot topic, even though President Nixon claimed there was no need for national child development programs and such a program was anti-family. Also the idea of artificial pregnancies became attractive sounding to some (hey think about it, maintaining dress size and drinking booze and eating whatever and riding roller coasters?). Shulamith Firestone, author of The Dialectic of Sex: The Case for Feminist Revolution, argued women will always be kept down until they were freed from “reproductive biology by every means available” and until artificial wombs were created, moms should be compensated for labor and dads be involved, Ted.......Also that children would benefit by being cut loose from dependency on parents who’d pass their issues on to their children and more kibbutz style households over the nuclear family model. In contrast, Jane Alpert, wrote “Mother Right” where she insisted motherhood was a source of female power and be harnessed in service for liberation and that mothers can pass on the values of empathy, pacifism, cooperation, intuition, protective feelings towards others to counter competition, individualism, and aggression.
