I hope a fan of Lou’s meet him during hiatus and tell him how much we love him and care for him. He seems like homebody who likes being with his mom and sister. Though I hope he does have a partner to go home too.
Do you think Lou will ever start his cameos again or do you think the ABC PR team told him to stop them? I mean didn’t he basically confirm he will be back for season 8 right before the finale?
He seems to really value friends and family so I hope he's surrounding himself with all the people he loves and who love him in return!
I don't think the ABC PR team would have him stop doing cameos. Actors on The Rookie have cameos, and they would fall under ABC's umbrella.
I personally think he stopped cameos when he got the call he'd be back for S8. I imagine he looks at Cameos, same as work, and if he's coming back this fall for both 911 and SWAT, he's probably just taking a break before he starts back up.
Here's a fun family picture I haven't posted yet but seems appropriate for this. (He has a younger brother too, pictured beside him)

Keep leaving positive comments for Buddie! We need to keep this kind of loud support for them up as we head into season 8. When the official 911 accounts on insta, tiktok, youtube, even on facebook post something neutral (like a teaser promo) or something related to Buck and or Eddie we need to comment our love for them. Keep reminding the people who run the show and any one who is fans of the show that the Buddie fandom is the biggest group of fans the show has.
You might think because we've seen a lot talk about B*mmy since the kiss happened in s7 that there's a ton of them but they're just a loud minority. So many people are rooting for Buddie to happen this season. Even some of the journalists who review the show have made it no secret that they want to see Buddie happen. Even Tim has said he supports Buddie and clearly made that known when he put so much more effort into them than B/T in s7.
Also it's clear that the B*mmy stans are nervous going into s8. If they were certain of their ship they wouldn't care what we were doing. The fact is none of us know if Lou is even coming back for s8. And even if he does they have no idea how long that might be especially with the rumour that he might be getting a main role on SWAT.
Whatever lashing out we've seen from them is likely to get worse so best thing you can do is try to steer clear of them. There's no point in arguing in the comments and it only makes us look bad. We don't need to prove anything to them anyway. We have six going on 7 years of history with Buddie and they have less than an hour of screentime with little development and a relationship almost entirely built on the physical. There is no competition. They only think there is because their ship has kissed and ours hasn't yet.
You're also likely to see them keep spreading the same bs about how against Buddie Ryan is but he's always been supportive of our ship. He chose the name ffs.
Keep showing love for Buddie. Also to Ryan and Oliver when they post things too if you can especially Ryan because he's gotten hate on his insta and I can't help but speculate is has something to do with some on their side.

Im in a group chat and one of the participants has a friend who payed 5$ to message Lou on cameo. They wrote good things only, how they liked his role in SWAT and if he could give them some clue about his presence in s8. They wanted to see the appeal of writing to him to understand this weird obsession, gather info, and lose 5$ because he never responded. He left them on read, straight ignored but still he got paid LMAO
Oh damn. Can't they get a refund or something? This is.................. I'm starting to think maybe the guy was told to stop.

"they've only just begun exploring tommy as a character" bro he's a guest star, why are you acting like he's a main character? Did they explore Taylor Kelly much as a character? No they did not so what makes you think they're gonna do anything with Tommy?
He literally had less then 2 minutes of screentime in the final two episodes, including 55 seconds in the finale. Like...I highly doubt they're gonna be exploring him much aside from the Gerrard of it all and likely setting up his mutual break up with Buck.
Could Tommy be in multiple episodes to wrap up his arc, maybe the first 4-5 episodes, yes of course he can. Tim and Lou have been very adamant that this is an arc, Tommy is not a permanent fixture on 911.
Could he be in more episodes yes but he's going to be filming SWAT year round. SWAT and 911 are on two conflicting networks, his role on SWAT is bigger then his role on 911 and it's going to get bigger in S8 just from the story they're telling and set up in the finale with his character still being on the team while other series leads flew off into the sunset. SWAT starts filming in mid September so basically he's free for 911 for 2 months so the first 4-5 episodes before SWAT becomes a priority.
So the more interesting question you’ve posed is “did they explore Taylor Kelly as a character that much” and the answer is that they tried once or twice with her episode with her dad and arguably her whole thing with Jonah that led to their breakup. I do actually think it’s a mistake to not make LIs at least compelling as characters if they don’t want them to feel disposable and Tommy, to me, is compelling.
The second part is more of the same “rumors” that Donovan Rocker, who had been in 5 episodes in the past 3 years of the show, is about to become a Major Character because … idk I don’t watch this show and no one’s given me a good reason why Rocker HAS to become a main in season 8 of SWAT.

Am I the only one worried about bucktommy after it’s been announced SWAT got renewed for an expanded S8 season? I really hope Lou’s available for a full season 8 arc with buck it’s the first decent LI we’ve gotten i want buck to have a healthy bi experience I hope Lou doesn’t get written off early ☹️ if they break up because of it I hope it’s mutual I really don’t want someone else to leave Buck
Initially, Lou was just in for a few episodes for this season. But after Tommy's character was well received and Tim and all the writers are still on the writing works, everything can change. I just hope the writers will take care of Tommy's character. Something fans have to look forward to in case Lou needs to leave to film swat and comeback. Honestly, Buck and Tommy are just good together. I wanna see and learn more of that. More of them.

When that one AMAZING BLOG responded with “You guys have spent the entire hiatus letting people convince you that he's becoming an integral part of the show. That he's going to have storylines and episodes devoted to him and his past. He’s not”. 💀💀💀💀
Here’s what the BT fandom either don’t want to admit or don’t know (because they haven’t watched the previous seasons), this is NOT bucks first relationship. We have Abby (which was more her ARC, then bucks). But also having that relationship being the turning point for buck, buck 2.0. Then we get to Ali. While Ali and Buck didn’t have many scenes together, they gave us JUST enough to always know where they stood with each other. Next we have Taylor. You MEAN TO TELL ME, TAYLOR AND BUCK WHO WERE TOGETHER LONGERAND HAVE MORE SCENES TOGETHER, and their friendship, didn’t give her a “Taylor begins” or “main character” or “to be on the season poster” but will give it to Tommy???? Are we drinking stupid juice? This is someone who buck has been dating for 10 a total of minutes of screen time? You literally are saying that with YOUR FULL CHEST? Better yet, Natalia. Natalia could have EASILY been a main if they wanted. Why? Because they had the scenes. They had the depth. They had CONVERSATIONS. Buck and Tommy DONT. they purposefully chose not to, rather equate their relationship ship to strictly physical (given all the fucking sex jokes). So please, miss me with “Tommy main s8 bullshit”. Don’t they know, if they were to make Tommy a main (which they won’t), they would need to build an entire NEW set and hire more actors?? I truly don’t see ABC wanting to pay additional money for a NEW side character. 💀💀💀
That's what it always comes down to, isn't it? Most of these people haven't seen the previous episodes, so they don't know what these characters have experienced in the past seasons.
If they had seen all of the previous seasons, they would know all the above you mentioned.
Making a new character a main character is something that doesn't happen very often in shows. It mostly happens in shows where a main character left.
For example: Two main characters left SWAT last season, so they might be looking to make some beloved recurring actor a main character. Now that I think about it, that actually sounds like an awesome idea to me. ;) So, this is a strong possibility.
For 911 there is no possibility right now. And if they were to make someone a main character? It would certainly not be Tommy, but would most likely be Karen, since she has been there since the beginning of the show.

I’ve seen some bucktommy shippers get worried bucktommy will be cut short because of swat getting renewed but Lou was able to shoot swat ( he’s only reoccurring) and 911 this past season at the same time so I don’t see s8 of both shows being renewed affecting his availability
I don't know much about SWAT, but given how small the role he has is in 911 I'm not surprised he's easily able to film other stuff when he needs to. Even if they do make his role slightly bigger in season 8, I doubt it's gonna be that prominent, so he'll probably still have time to do other stuff too.

Oh, lord, don't even get me started on the whole Luca thing. It made literally no sense and they went against so many things they established in canon in earlier seasons.
The biggest part of SWAT's story was Luca/Street bromance. They literally lived together for better part of the show, had a really sweet brotherly dynamic, always there for each other no matter what. You know what we got from the hospital scene? Nothing. Not even so much of a word about where Street was, maybe an excuse why he couldn't make it which while it still would've been lazy writing, it would mean they at least considered the relationships and important people in Luca's life. Which they obviously didn't. Same goes for Chris. Like, we had newer people there waiting in the hospital, but not the likes of Mumford, Rocker, Stevens, other men Luca's been serving with for SO long! Also, no mention of his dad, mom, sister, brother. Nothing!!
I mean I have grievences with how he got shot too bc I feel like it was a cheap cop out for writing out his character in a way that would least anger the public while still somewhat making sense storywise. But, come on... He has been on SWAT for how long? And you're telling me he'd be reckless enough to risk his life going after three heavily armed suspects without backup, gear, anything WITH KELLY right there???
And then the whole thing post-hospital is also a huge question mark. The pacing was so weird, the dialogue felt off... Then his last call and some of the most important people in his career and life are once again missing (I mean, really, not even a cameo?!).
All in all, so many weird decisions and once again, so many better ways they could've gone about this if they had just considered the season as a whole rather than ep by ep. Because that's what this season feels like - bunch of standalone eps tied in together with a paper clip. A plastic one, at that.
I hope they get better writers for s8 or at the very least the ones that don't seem to hate the show and characters with burning passion bc this is 🥴🥴🥴 And much hate to whoever okayed promoting this season with Alex and Kenny being credited as "recurring" instead of what it really was "guest starring". For s8 celebration we should get them a dictionary and circle those words so that they can learn what they mean since they clearly don't.
~🧡
Um??... Woof. (But I love your explanations and reading your thoughts so much!)
Of all the things they could have done for Luca's send-off, they chose that half-baked, poorly written, hot mess of a story??? WHY? And we know Alex was on set for other episodes, so they seriously have no excuse for leaving Street out of his best friend's ending!!!
Did they think that the fans would just ignore the fact that Luca acted completely out of character in the situation leading to the shooting, and that all of his closest friends and comrades weren't there for him? I mean, I know they hate us and him (clearly), but apparently they also take us for fools. You're spot-on in saying that they didn't put any effort into writing his final episodes; in a season of exposition explanations, we didn't even get one for Luca!!
The pacing and the dialogue is what I've heard the most complaints about! "A bunch of standalone eps tied in together with a paper clip. A plastic one, at that" is the most perfect description!!! Even just reading the synopsis of each episode, I've been wondering if the episodes were coherent or connected in any way, like a television series should be, and it sounds like they're not. Since the season was shorter after the un-cancellation, I think they just threw a bunch of ideas into a hat and pulled one for each episode rather than trying to create an underlying thread that could run through all 13 episodes.
Okay, the situation isn't funny, but your last line made me laugh so hard!! One of my favorite things (for some reason) is come up with fake dialogue for the S.W.A.T. writers - what I think they say at the writing table, so I can whole-heartedly agree with your idea to get them and the marketing people a dictionary and explain the difference between "recurring" and "guest starring"! Like you said, getting new writers seems like the only hope for the show. If the show reads a bit different, that would honestly be fine, as long as the writers treated the characters like they deserve and create a show again, not a mod-podged pile of underdeveloped scenes that ignore everything previous seasons have established!
"Hey, guys, what if we take a beloved character, shoot him in front of Kelly because he ran in without thought, and then just rush through his recovery to send him off into the sunset?" In my mind, the S.W.A.T. writers sound like the pilots from the first scene in the Lego Batman Movie.

the way lou hasn't interacted with anything bt related and yet he continuously interacts with SWAT stuff is certainly interesting, also the way Oliver refuses to follow him or discuss BT ever lol. Lou seems like he's less enthused as well about BT. I think even he knows they're bones.
I've been wondering if Lou got the info he isn't coming back already or that if he is coming back it will be for like one episode. It's just his weird behavior online doesn't make sense for an actor hoping to stick around long term on successful primetime show.
People had been calling out his old racist/misogynistic insta posts for a while and he hadn't said anything but for some reason he chose that particular day to respond to that one with a very creepy screenshot about spitting on blind children. Then he blocked Buddie shippers. Deletes some of those old insta posts. Then apart from liking one of the posts where people made him out to be the victim:
Tumblr media
he has basically stopped even engaging with his minions now. He's even stopped making cameos. And I don't know if that's because he was told to or just because those fans served their purpose for him and he's moving on to other things.
Buddie or not I've always gotten the impression that Lou doesn't seem too invested in playing T*mmy and even less in playing one half of a queer relationship long term. I think he thought he was signing on to play T*mmy for a few eps and he'd be done by the end of s7. Which I think was originally the plan.
Look at these older cameos from Lou and how he talked about T*mmy and Buddie. Not saying I believe every thing he's said in any of his videos but these were some of the early ones he put out and I think initially he was going more off of where the script was going vs his own headcanons.
https://buddiebeginz.tumblr.com/post/748524266454138880/im-sorry-but-anyone-who-doesnt-see-this-as-tommy
https://buddiebeginz.tumblr.com/post/748034351773646848
But basically he makes it seem like T*mmy is just there to stir things up a bit until Buck and Eddie figure things out. Only they decided to push Eddie coming out and Buddie feelings realization back until s8 (I wrote a post about my thoughts on that here). So they kept Lou in for a few more eps than he was initially signed on for. This also explains why after ep6 we don't see or even hear about T*mmy again until ep9.
But back to Lou based on the rumors floating around my feeling is that he's getting more of prominent role on SWAT which if he's still being asked back for s8 of 911 and the two shows conflict with one another I 100% believe he'd chose SWAT anyday over 911. Not just because SWAT seems much more his style but also like I said I don't think he's invested in playing T*mmy. He's also just not a good dramatic actor especially not for the soft, intimate, emotional moments. Plus why would he take being Buck's bf who only features on the show occasionally and doesn't really get to do the action scenes that the 118 get to do when he could be a main on SWAT and get to do so much more.
No matter what even if the rumours aren't true about SWAT and even if T*mmy comes back for s8 and even Buddie doesn't happen I don't see B/T making it past s8 at all. I'll be shocked if that ship lasts beyond one ep in s8 so there is no way it's lasting longer than Buck and Taylor.
Apart from whatever is going on with Lou Oliver doesn't seem to like him and I think more than anything that will be what ends B/T. Oliver is a talented professional but he's also one of the biggest reasons people even watch 911 and I'm sure ABC knows that. They're not going to force him to work with a scene partner he's uncomfortable with. Plus I fully expect if we see B/T in s8 the lackluster chemistry with them will be even more apparent than it was in s7. So why continue a relationship if the actors don't have the romantic chemistry together to carry it?
Sorry for my long ramble anon. Had a lot of thoughts. Thanks for the message :)

Hi! This is long, but just some Inside Baseball-y theorizing/thoughts on LFJ... I don't have any insider info or anything lol but I know a bit about how the business side of the industry works.
So, he would have been brought back as either a recurring guest star or a recurring co-star (co-stars are usually minor characters who basically serve to push other characters to where they need to be, which is probably what he was in S2. Guest stars have a bigger role and are usually a little more central to the story they're being used in). The distinction is a little fluid and can be up for negotiation by your agent (guest stars get paid a higher rate), but I think Tommy lands pretty solidly into recurring guest category for S7, so that's my guess as to what he was contracted as. (The step above that but before main cast is series regular, which is where Karen and Ravi etc fall)
From what we now know, his original arc was only supposed to be 4 episodes, and he was there for Eddie. Then Natalia's actress became unavailable (I think she was doing a play?) and their original plan sort of fell apart, because if Eddie had his gay awakening in 704 and Buck was single (since Natalia wouldn't be there) the rest of whatever they had planned for the season would stop making sense... hence the switch, and imo you can see some traces of the original plan in the version that eventually made it to air.
And then they were renewed for S8-9, which realistically would have been very much up in the air at the time the season was originally being written. They'd just come off the strikes, they were on a new network, they had a shortened season, they were planning a BIG swing by bringing at least one of their long-term characters out of the closet, so I don't think it's a coincidence that the renewal news came in the wake of those eps airing. I think the network was probably waiting to see how they'd do in the ratings once that happened before they decided how to move forward.
So once they were renewed, they decided to slow down the pace of whatever story they had planned since they now had more or less guaranteed time to do it. The back half of S7 was a hasty rewrite and suffered for it – I think that's been made obvious in interviews and just from what you see on-screen lmao
LFJ was probably asked back for a handful of 7B scenes because of the rewrites – most of his "presence" was done without him actually needing to be on-screen. A couple references to him here and there and one or two scenes in an episode, and that was kind of all they needed story-wise to keep Buck busy while Eddie started down his spiral. I don't think his "popularity" or "fanbase" or whatever had much at all to do with him staying longer. BIG fandom pushes can sometimes sway things, but I think people generally overestimate their influence on these kinds of decisions. It ultimately comes down to money and viewership and story needs, and it made sense for him to stay longer than expected, so he stayed.
When it stops making story or business sense to keep him, he'll be gone, which might have already happened if they think he's caused more trouble than he's worth. There's also the possibility that he'll be promoted to a main on SWAT or get booked for something else and become unavailable just like Natalia's actress did. That happens super frequently.
Or maybe not! If they have a plan for the wrap-up of that storyline that requires him to be physically present, or even if they want to keep him around off and on all next season, then he'll probably be back for a couple episodes, but they're definitely not going to be writing full independent storylines for him. If you pay attention, he (and Buck!) stopped being the focus of any of the plotlines as soon as the bulk of that story was resolved (Buck realizing he's bi and coming out to the rest of the team). Whatever their plan, his function is/was to push Buck to where he needs to be for whatever's next in his story, because Buck is the one who's part of the main cast. He's the one who gets storylines written about him.
I agree with a lot of this, really. I say his approval made him stay, but I kinda mean in the sense that Buck being bi was well received and unlike other love interests, he was well received, so keeping him in the background wasn't creating problems as they set up whatever it was they wanted to do with season 8 using the remainder of s7 after the renewal. I don't think his purpose on the narrative is completely done yet, so I do think he could be back to further Buck in whatever way they need him to, because like you said, he exists to push Buck somewhere and they stopped using Buck on his own after he came out and that's definitely not something that's gonna transfer into s8, so whatever plan they have for Buck is probably going to use him. I think the question is if the chaos that's been going on lately makes it worth it to drag out his presence or if they'll choose to get over with it quickly because while he still makes sense narratively, he might be stopping making sense from a business perspective. But we don't know, this is all speculation at this point. There's a chance he's already written off and there's a chance they are planning on keeping him as a presence for longer. We'll have to wait and see I guess. But this is a very detailed view, thank you for sharing it.

not sure how much time they're gonna have for tommy considering that SWAT starts filming in september and there's heavy rumors he's going to become a series regular on that show. You may just have to deal with the fact that the Tommy arc got extended but the Tommy character is not getting expanded. He may film every episode till around September where he will have to start filming SWAT and won't have much time for 911. So he may just be in the first 5 episodes which means you may have to start bracing yourself for BT break up early S8.
I think you're wish of BT breaking up in S9 is a pipe dream. They're gonna be done by the end of the season for sure. But that's only if Lou's availability allows considering again he may become a series regular and SWAT and 911 will be filming majority of their seasons at the same time and Lou can't balance two shows especially on rival networks.
It's the nature of the business, you may want to brace yourself. Especially cause Lou is highly promoting SWAT on social media which of course he would he's still on the team in SWAT and he did not get a happy ending in S7 the way multiple other characters did that were built up for years that have likely left the show to clear room for Lou as a series main.
Idk if this is the same anon or this conspiracy theory rumor is that widespread but you’re putting a lot of hope on CBS deciding that they’re going to make Donovan Rocker a main just so Lou is forced to choose between shows.
And idk what “heavily promoting SWAT” means to you but the latest post on SWAT I could find on his Twitter was him celebrating the renewal and his last 5 Instagram posts were about 911 with a single post about Donovan’s guest appearance in April, before Tommy’s return was announced.
But if your last hope is Lou getting another job then I think you’re just admitting that Tommy could easily be a major recurring character for a long time.
