Real Talk.
The situation on Tumblr has gotten extremely dire. I said recently to check on your transfem friends — and still do that of course — but it’s truly time to try to look out for yourself as well.
In the wake of the CEO going off-site to harass Predstrogen, and violate data privacy laws in the process by revealing names of her various NSFW + SW-Oriented accounts (evil on its own, but heinous when you remember the original issue with the situation was Tumblr refusing to do anything about harassment campaigns launched against her on the basis of her being a transfem SWer), as well as rumors from ex-staff members of Tumblr allegedly being about to make a deal with Midjourney to sell user data to train AI on, it’s time to start considering what you want to do from here.
Ponder your options — are you going down with the ship? Are you going to set up a lifeboat, just in case? Are you moving right now?
Many people site Cohost as a solid alternative to Tumblr — one where the moderators actually do rid the site of TERFs, Radfems, and others who make transgender users unsafe — though there’s other sites that may suit your needs better, if you don’t necessarily want a Tumblr-esque experience anymore (though I reckon many do). It truly is sad how this is ripping people in so many different directions, but… Man. Tumblr at the very least gravely needs new management. The actions of Staff as of late have been deranged.
Take the steps you need. Think of what you want to do. Archive what you can.
And, again, check on your transfem friends. This may be rough for people all across the aisle of queerness, but it’s the roughest for them.

I’m confused why do you support sex work if you’re anti-capitalist
Because I am also a feminist and general human rights supporter.
Sex workers are often assaulted or worse and with No way to ask for help because they're just as likely to be arrested as the person who assaulted them. On top of that let's not forget that people who commit SA regularly get away with their crimes even when they are reported and taken to court with evidence.
And that's not even getting into the other awful shit that even cops do just to have "fun" and make sex workers lives more difficult.
And who's gonna tell them to stop harassing sex workers? It's not like sex workers have any protections in place, right?
Tumblr media
Additionally, sex workers are known as the canaries in the coal mine because it's also them who are the first to have their rights restricted.
For example the current wave of bigotry is credited to Trump but sex workers have been trying to get everyone's attention and raise alarm bells since before the SAVE Act in 2014 and SESTA/FOSTA happened in 2018.
Nobody listened because nobody listens to sex workers.
But they should. Because SWers are people who deserve humane treatment and to have their rights and safety protected like anyone else.
And that means supporting sex workers so they can form unions and advocate for their rights.
Besides that, the people they're protecting themselves from are usually capitalists who seek to exploit them the same way they seek to exploit anyone else.
Going back to my original point: it's easy to exploit people without protections in place to call for help when it happens. Not having protections only harms sex workers while it benefits everyone else around them.
My views or intersectional. Id be absolutely lost if I insisted on looking at complex ideas through the lens of a single issue.
Sex work isn't just "they work and take money so they're capitalists so I don't support them"
They are people first and foremost. Like everyone else.

honestly i wasn't really a fan of the other council of geeks hazbin video about angel's portrayal as a SW in the first place. instead of pointing out the issues like angel being overly flirtatious to the point of harassing people and being a walking 'damsel in distress' prostitute trope they chose to focus on the fact that angel is being abused by his pimp because 'most sex work isn't like that anymore'. idk even if having an abusive pimp isn't a universal experience among sex workers it feels disrespectful to gloss over that very real part of the industry that many SWers have had to live through.
Yeah, that was pretty terrible. It's not universal but it's still a very real thing that happens.

can u expand on the whole twitter in 2014 tumblr era thing? thank u and sorry im just a twitter hater tbh
Tumblr was a bit more of a pvp infested place before then, so you'd see more drama and discourse appear on your dash, especially by some notorious tumblr users or "funnymen" as some would describe them, who turned out to have had a pretty dark history to say the least. There was also the issue of fandom policing, because you didn't exactly have any creative liberties without some teenager wanting to start a fight with you and subsequently write a callout post. There was also this whole "sjw vs anti-sjw/egalitarian" aspect of US-political issues that held no nuance in the previous political environment, but people would grow out of it. For the most part, people didn't exactly have a proper political identity until the Trump administration turned people more leftist, whereas the rest of the conservative circle moved to Twitter as Tumblr's userbase became increasingly leftist and hostile towards right-wing ideologies.
Indeed, many of my friends are now leftists after previously conforming to right-wing rhetoric.
But I think the porn ban led many tumblr individuals to make some dumb exodus to Twitter for some reason, finding tumblr to become less accessible for various marginalized groups, like SWERS. This is quite ironic, since porn or SWERS were stigmatized by the very same people who migrated to Twitter.
I think those who remained on tumblr simply grew out of their former thinking, since most people today are in their 20's and 30's, while twitter still has a large teenage userbase.
I may not be articulating this well, so people can fill in if they wish to.

AITA if I flipped off a customer?
Some background: I’ve recently started taking the bus to and from work. The area I work (retail) in is known pretty widely to be the city’s unofficial Red Light District, and there are a lot of full service sex workers walking along the main street at basically any time of day. If you are a femme-presenting person walking in that area, it’s highly likely that you’ll be mistaken for a SWer unless you take specific steps to avoid it. This is mostly a safety issue rather than one around how I’m perceived; I’ve had people pull up behind me to try and pick me up if my demeanor isn’t off putting enough.
Now the story: I (f, 28) was waiting at my bus stop after walking the two-ish blocks between my job and the stop. I was dressed in such a way that most ppl could likely tell I wasn’t a SWer, but I’d had a couple people honk/whistle at me regardless—of course some of this could be categorized as “regular” street harassment, but the nature of the area often makes people more brazen overall, so the reasoning is generally moot.
Here’s where I may be the asshole: when I was waiting at my stop, someone got my attention from a car across the street (can’t remember if they honked or whistled but I’m sure they didn’t use any actual words). I looked up to determine if it was directed at me, and indeed the person inside was waving at me, so I responded as I always do when someone on that street tries to get my attention, with a swift and firm middle finger. The person inside sort of kept waving, but they were also already driving off as the light had turned.
What I realized after a few hours of being home was that, based on where I was and the direction that person was driving, it’s highly likely that the person waving was someone I actually know from my job. Most of my customers are regulars, and we often see each other around the city.
Obviously I would feel terrible if this were the case, and of course I can’t know for sure unless a customer comes in and tells me that I flipped them off. I’m not holding any actual guilt about this unless that happens. So basically what I’m asking is: am I the asshole for automatically flipping off people who try to get my attention from their cars, even if it’s possible that they’re people I know?
What are these acronyms?

I used to be a SWERF until January. Now I realise how much harm that caused and I am so sorry for being so ignorant to sex workers who are probably among the most vulnerable women out there (and men and enbies too). Consensual sex work is work and I strongly advocate its legality so we can properly regulate it to be less exploitative.
Thing is when something is legal, it’s easy to control and regulate it. You can see how all the rules that should be in place with drugs and alcohol are blatantly ignored when they’re illegal. Same goes for sex work.
The regulations should be that sex workers get most of the pay they get and any pimps involved should only get part of it since the workers did most of the work although I’m still on the fence with pimping. Obviously you should be 18 years old or over and sex workers should be able to unionise. Denying sexual services should also be allowed.
I think we can view things as contractors or direct hires. If SW were legitimized as a business, SWers wouldn’t need “pimps” (aka traffickers). If they preferred to go legit, then they’re managers or business owners. I have a feeling, just like a “plug” when cannabis was legalized in certain states, they like tax free revenue and the freedom to exploit their “product” without govt oversight. I’d still like to see it legalized or at least decriminalized, for safety reasons. Plus health insurance.
Sex work should indeed be legal, and if you’re interested to learn more about effective policies around it, look into the discourse around decriminalization. (you can take it a step further by listening to sex workers and sw unions who call for decriminalization NOT legalization.) That’s the preferred model for many (if not most) sex workers. It’s a very interesting and important topic.
We all use our bodies for money. Every. Single. One. Of. Us. There is no difference between a tiler using his arms and legs etc to do their job, and a sex worker using their genitals to do their job. Therefore, every sex worker should have the same rights as every other worker - a safe, regulated and respectful work environment with access to all the tools required to do their job safely.
she really came into my inbox thinking she did something. i know the arguments. none of this changes that legal prostitution gives men the right to enforce unwanted sex with women, and increases demand, and consent cant be bought. the issue in many cases is not that women are forced by violence but by financial duress. thats why they dont say no. the issue is the sex buyers who feel entitled to have their sexual fantasies fulfilled. enduring sex is not a profession and making someone endure sex for money is not claiming a service. in actual jobs you dont sell your body, you sell your labour. there‘s more to unpack here but i cant even take someone serious who‘s on the fence about pimping lol. if youre interested to learn more check out #anti prostitution instead of being smug assuming others dont know what we‘re talking about.

do you wanna talk about your opinions re: Drift in fanfiction, maybe?
I think fanfic Drift is something of a game of fandom telephone tbh. There's a core that has been steadily whittled away by fanon repeating itself enough it seems shallow. The thing is that a lot of IDW1 canon has been subject to this directly, because it wasn't of much interest to folks writing fic while the MTMTE stuff was ongoing, tbh. When Dratchet became a focus in the LL run, stuff got reevaluated about Drift in shipping terms, rather than as character analysis, I think. And it became more abstract through that, and it encouraged Fanon Drift TM.
A lot of fanfic-Drift does not incorporate pre-MTMTE canon for him. This is understandable, because in its own right, that stuff is not very good tbh. But much of what we see now in fandom is... a clear reaction to fanon that sprung up independently, and so is trying to pose a counterpoint to things that only exist in fanon, and the whole thing becomes a mess of self-referential shit if you take it only on its own terms. Drift often only exists as a discussion of those issues in fandom, and where the writer falls on them right now, or when the fic was being written. (Much early Dratchet fic treats Drift as something of an afterthought and Ratchet as the obviously identifiable protagonist, lbr.) Fanfic-Drift is more a litmus test for fanon than a character in his own right, even when he's being written more strongly in canon, I think. He's a cipher. What fandom decided to make that cipher mean is interesting.
I have a whole post I could make about how people's ostensibly anti-regressive takes on 'was Drift a [metaphorical] sex worker, and if so what are our ideas about that' are still fundamentally bound up in anti-SWer ideas and fandom conversations more than canon, because it's all just a reaction to fanon fundamentally based in terrible ideas about what sex work is. (By which I mean I have one post idea I have repeatedly junked bc uh. Don't want to listen to people get shitty about sex work.) But at base level, a lot of fandom's idea of Drift is basically rooted in this idea of the 'theoretically sympathetic addict who has extenuating circumstances we need to articulate for him to be sympathetic, but who is still Abject bc of all that' which I think go so against what we see of him in pre-MTMTE media. Here are some things I think fanfic is bad at engaging with: Drift is an addict, and not the kind of addict a lot of fanfic wants to talk about. Drift is isolated in a way that is not easily explained by people being unfair to him. Drift has strong political opinions that inform both him joining and defecting from the Decepticons. If Drift was a sex worker, metaphorical or otherwise, that is clearly the least important thing in any shame he has.
But more important than those nuances, I think, is that Drift just isn't... allowed to be based on his canon stuff period? It feels honestly slightly irrelevant in the face of just. How much fanon Drift stops being based on extrapolating from his canon actions and starts being a character who exists purely to serve other characters. I think a really interesting take on him needs to do something with that sense he is someone who has deliberately buried what he wants to get what he wants. If you don't go a little meta with it, you get nowhere; and if you do you get something far more interesting than the 'ummmm sad SWer ig, ratchet kindly saves him' idea. See also: his most interesting canon relationship, and I say this as a dratchet shipper, is STILL Drift and Rodimus, because it dictates way more of WHAT THEY DO that Dratchet doesn't manage. Dratchet is great but canonically mostly exists as a culmination to a plot we are filling in behind the scenes; Rodimus and Drift exists as an ongoing discussion outside that. tbh.
tl;dr: sex worker drift would be great if anyone writing fic understood it has Zero to do with canon and approached it as such. it's not canon and people only think it's canon bc of bad opinions about what sex work is. either way i love drift. none of this is coherent sorry. we have discussed some of this before, and i have sharpened my opinions ig?

People dont understand toxic yuri...simple minded people anyways tell us more about your space lesbians !! Like their personalities!
surreee :3 below ⬇️
ianthe is very blunt and doesn’t know how to joke around and pretty serious she’s a bit of a perfectionist and has to be the “smartest” in the room and so she typically tries to take lead of convos and projects and is stubborn about her authority so she ends up looking down on others often, she doesn’t understand sarcasm very well and is kinda stuck up bc of being a pure blooded individual from her species
nyx is annoying loud and purposefully tries to irritate people around her bc she thinks it’s funny, she craves attention constantly and is very talkative and gets destructive and rude when the spotlight isn’t on her, she’s not very smart though and paired with her being very impulsive she often gets herself and others in bad situations bc of her temper and poor judgement, she seeks thrills and is the most daring out of the three and has very little fear towards physical pain or risk, also she’s a unreliable narrator
and finally Quinn is standoffish sarcastic and self sabotaging, she has substance abuse issues and depression and avoids most of her problems by projecting onto others, she’s very smug and acts unbothered so no one realizes she has very little going for her, she’s a highschool drop out ex swer and has a special interest in space, she’s always wanted to be an astronaut but wasn’t mentally strong enough to go back to school but got chosen for the oracle as a human test dummy unbeknownst to her so she thinks life is turning around, she’s actually a massive softie but she gets annoyed when ppl realize she’s nicer than she pretends not to be
all three of them r head strong and combative so it makes for a very tense group and it doesn’t help that all three r forming crushes on each other but none of them know they’re lesbians yet so it’s messy

hey just so yk but thr pregnancy post has been taken out of context. There was a post directly b4 that talkint abt specifically cis men going into non-swer pregnant womens comments and asking them to start an only fans. so yeah I dont think this is a fair post to get mad to them abt
if you wanna talk abt sexism and entitlement to womens bodies and harrassment and sexualization and unwanted attention and all the actual and very real issues thats a whole different discussion and doesnt require equalizing pregnancy fetish to pedophilia??? like why did he make that point
and we all know why he made that point actually. if anyone wants context neotrances is a transmisogynist whos been pedojacketing trans women for so long on this site, and seems to be especially keen on doing it to latam commie transfems for having kinks lmfao. this rlyyy isnt taken out of context, its absolutely on-par for him

Asking on anon because I don't feel like getting fucking lambasted by both radical sides of this. But I think they're are some folks that talk about transandrophobia (not you, baeddel-txt, etc) that are starting to pick up on toxic masculinity in the same way TIRFs picked up on TME/TMA shite and the like. (I have it on my blog but only because I'm tired of getting a toss up treatment from shallow transfems and getting reduced to either a cis man or them insinuating I'm not who I say I am, and the like. Frankly as of today I'm muting all of the related tags on both sides because frankly... I need a break).
I agree with y'all just like, be aware of it just like transfems should be aware of our own problems.
I also dislike the whole TIRFs "reclaiming" baeddel as a.) It's literally a ye old slur for intersex people (re: tfems having a problem with fetishizing intersex people, speaking from personal experience here)
b.) it reads like a far inferior version of reclaiming the tslur, which tbh, I would just prefer if they did that.
Also I guess if you ask this and you care so much about who's sending this, I'll reveal myself, just don't make it public because I don't need to be getting harassed by TIRFs for being a weird reject because I just choose to be both a girl and a boy identity wise and clearly the everything not binary fem phobia (even if I meet the criteria of not "CAFAB" to them.) they have is still clearly alive and well considering I took a soft ban 3 months ago for it. (After getting a full ban rolled back bc of staff reviewing it.)
The "baeddel"/TIRF ideology reminds me a lot of my own internalized transmisogyny turning me into a shithead radfem both pre and post coming out, but also everything else going with it.
That's not to say that there isn't some areas where it can be disproportionate. I also don't understand the obsession with violence statistics when a.) It shouldn't be happening period and b.) I don't think either side is accurately reported, really, unless it's entirely relying on self reporting. Also c.) I don't know how much of violence on trans SWers is reported in that, i could see it being even or even mildly trans fem biased, not statistically significant though.
I'll be honest here in that I am not 100% sure I'm understanding you correctly, but it sounds to me like you're making a couple of different points that I'd love to be able to engage with- I think I just need some clarification first so I can make sure I'm not completely misinterpreting what you're trying to get across.
So like, if it's cool, I would love a follow-up ask to clarify a couple of things!
What are folks doing with "toxic masculinity" that you feel is similar to what TIRFs have done with TME/TMA? My understanding would be that TME/TMA were turned into a kind of definitive label that people use to determine who's allowed to speak on certain issues, who's "oppressed enough" to matter, etc., but I don't really see a way that parallels "toxic masculininity" among folks who talk about transandrophobia. Unless you mean that people are distancing themselves from the possibility of being masculine in a toxic way on the basis of their identity? (If that's the case, I think I'm misunderstanding the connection to TME/TMA)
Could you expand on: "The "baeddel"/TIRF ideology reminds me a lot of my own internalized transmisogyny turning me into a shithead radfem"? I think the sentence after that muddied what you meant, for me, and I'm curious what insights you have there!
Also RE: statistics, I really agree that there need to be more studies and research into these issues in order to get any real sense of clarity. IMO the best uses for statistics of violence and discrimination against trans people, specifically stats that tell us who is facing what kind of discrimination, is to better understand the systems causing us harm in order to work towards dismantling them.
Trying to determine "who has it worst" overall is pointless and self-defeating. The goal should be to understand why transmascs tend to face more lifetime sexual violence, while transfems tend to face more childhood sexual violence. Not to decide which issue to give a shit about and which issue to ignore, or which trans people "deserve" to be prioritized over all the others.
I will also say that the study I draw from more than others is the U.S. Transgender Survey, which relies on self-reporting. I recommend checking them out if stats interest you; they're pretty expansive and had a massive sample size. The 2015 results have been published for a while, and 2022 results are coming soon.

Question for those who have a Patreon:
Has anyone else had a recent plague of pornbots commenting on all their free posts? I've had an absolute flood of generically-titled profiles with random women's photos, leaving generic single-word comments like "Nice" or "Cool."
I can't tell if this is a widespread issue or something that's just affecting those of us whose pages are flagged as 18+, but it's getting incredibly irritating. Doubly so because Patreon has cracked down on sex workers several times in the past, forcing SWers to move to other platforms entirely. Very similar to tumblr's porn ban + bot plague, really.

"I for one, am f**king glad that scum is dead."
Part of my AU where Yuri's saved by the SWers who were going to be Lady Killer's victims. Mini fic snippet below. CW for mild swearing, rape/abuse/assault mention.
Yuri had been conscious for several days now, but was no less perplexed by the situation he had found himself in. He was laying back to rest and heal all the, he quotes, "f*cked up injuries" he had.
The bed is scratchy, and garishly ornamented, velvet cushions behind his back helping him sit up. The room he's been staying in is always dimly lit, with the musty smell of cigarette smoke, alcohol and other substances he'd rather not think about.
"The VIP room." The prostitutes, Maria and Lee, had informed him.
Lady Killer's next victims, had Lunatic not interfered.
And now, Yuri had them and a whole group of strangers who knew his identity and did not care, tending to his wounds and housing him away from the authorities.
"Screw the police, they don't give a shit about us anyway." they had almost hissed.
Yuri knew the high rates of rape and assault cases that slipped through the system. Either too dull for Hero TV to cover or ignored by incompetent and corrupt police. Lady Killer himself, had taken 3 lives before his arrest was issued.
Yuri found their company and honesty soothing. They did not mind his scars, and seemed to understand where others could not the horrors humanity could commit. Not the spectacles of heroes vs villains found on television, but the dark, gritty and messy everyday evils. Yuri found himself blurting more about his father and mother than he had ever been able to in years to anyone. (Not a difficult record to beat, in hindsight.)
His whole family is dead deaddead-
They offered their sympathies, but it wasn't patronising like when his father's associates offered their condolences and offers to "help" at his funeral. Freely speaking about his life with one foot in the Justice Bureau and the other in matters of vigilantism... helped. Funnily enough, Yuri found himself taking the role of mediator often, even advocating for viewpoints that directly countered Lunatic's methods for justice.
It seemed, one of the most marginalised of communities in society had many strong opinions about justice and how to enact it. Alternatives even, that Yuri had read once but ashamedly tossed for their idealism. (Or his own trauma-fuelled guilt?) All of them however, held little love for authority, whether it was the pigs in blue or heroes in gleaming gold.
So, Yuri healed, in this strange community of people who stuck out for each other. Each with their own experience of abuse, trauma and discrimination, spoken and unspoken. Only the beaten would have known how to help him with his wounds, physical, mental and emotional. Quite literally, sometimes.
Rei with a medical degree he couldn't use because of discrimination, Sato with their knowledge gathered from years of organising mutual aid, Mira with her kindness and understanding after an angry client blinded her in her left eye and left it scarred shut.
There were less people at Origa Petrov's funeral than Mr Legend's, but it wasn't as cold with these strangers who'd taken him in without judgement.
"What will you do next?" They asked him, when he was mostly okay, and possibly alright with living. Yuri doesn't quite know, but for the time being, working as a judge who was a friend to those who needed support the most sounded good.
Yuri was not a good man, but he learned that there was more to enacting justice than Kotetsu's heroism and Lunatic's punishment. With people he could rely on, life seemed bearable, even hopeful.
For Yuri, that was more than enough.

it is only the process of Reverie being adopted by the Sakuras that is getting me through the darkness right now. Futaba did such a good job at the beach that she.... does what all people with weird brain stuff do, and we take one victory and immediately overexert ourselves and fuck up the next thing. Like, FOR REAL, relatable, I have BEEN THERE, i was there in the past TWO WEEKS baby.
So Futaba needs back-up in her journey to relearn how to exist int he world, and Reverie is raring to go.
I love her.
Tumblr media
lmao the cut to Sae like "HM REPORTS CLAIM THAT YOU ACQUIRED A OLDER BROTHER-LY DEMEANOR BEGINNING IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST. CARE TO EXPLAIN YOURSELF???? BITCH?"

yeah obvsly

back in My Favorite Confidant Link, Kawakami actually calls Reverie in to tell him the exciting news, that she stood up for herself and told the Takases' she wasn't going to pay them anymore and was going to quite her side job to return to her passion for teaching.
Which: thrilling. So happy for her.
AND THEN THE TAKASES SHOW UP.
yanno. it's interesting that the game flat out says "sex worker" I was not anticipating that level of clarity about Kawakami. and given even modern standards and attitudes towards SWers, I'm relieved to see that the Villains of this story are the ones trying to use her status as a sex worker to ruin her life. Because, yeah, that's villainous behavior, Persona! I'm glad we agree on this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah fuck subtlety tbh, let's wreck these fools. They'll be lucky if Reverie only steals their hearts.
ALSO:
Tumblr media
I THINK SHE KNOWS
i also think sojiro knows but that's neither here nor there. Sojiro has proven he can be extremely subtle.

oh the Big Bads are gonna kill the principal aren't they
