i have to admit i am a basic moshang lover at heart, they are just the perfect combo of angst/genuine emotions/beautiful themes and very funny that i love. shang qinghua is mr. boop and also mobei-jun's god and the jaken to his sesshomaru. mobei jun is his blorbo and his abuser and his annoying boss. they have a 20-30 year age difference. they dont even get together at the end of the moshang extras they just continue to have a weird boss/employee relationship and someday get their shit together off-screen. its everything to me

when writing moshang, i think the best things for me are the available tension of mobei jun's treatment of shang qinghua, contrasted against the genuine softness i think mobei jun feels for him and shang qinghua's deeply ingrained self worth issues. its just such a delicious cocktail for both drama and sweetness! and for some reason when together, they give me that very solid 'married couple who can basically psychically communicate' vibe, compared to bingqiu's messy freudian college girl energy (also beloved to me)

THAT SAID. i do think there are other very fun or funny pairings for sqh that i would love to see more of tbh.

A) SQH/YQY. this is mostly just because i love @tossawary's hey, share the weight a little, which is so cute and honestly mostly comes down to 'two great tastes that taste great together' for me. not my fav for either of them but deserves honorable mention for being the main non-moshang sqh pairing with a fic i love

B) SQH/LQG. i think that shang qinghua gets him. he COULD fix him, by which in this case i mean use his mildly conniving nature, excellent planning skills, and sneakiness to improve liu qingge's quality of life through trickery. and i think that shang qinghua could really benefit from a loving and devoted partner who doesn't have that much more emotional intelligence than him, but who would make him eat full meals, sleep, and get some fresh air.

C) SQH/TLJ - SQH/TLJ/SXY - SQH/SXY... its just so funny. i think they could be enchanted by his weird little man swag. his mildly evil heart and his big brown eyes. and i think he'd find them mildly unsettling which is also funny

D) MQF/SQH. i have never seen or written any content for this but i kind of want it very badly now that ive thought of it. sqh can get rare and weird information for him, mqf would be 'i can fix him' for sqh's crippling anxiety and tendency to get injured by demons, they are both workaholics... this would be a magical combo

i do sometimes read cumplane and think they can be very fun and/or cute, but its not really a fav sqh pairing of mine, nor is sqh/og!sqq, altho ik those are probably the other two most popular pairings for him. i just think he should be w someone who appreciates how smart he is and idk that either of them do that for me... they, in turn, seem to me like guys who want to be the smart one in a relationship 😂

Only a hand full of times have I seen her be strong and intelligent without being overshadowed by TLJ a MAN and nothing against him cause (I love him) the two complement each other so well and I love their dynamic and not that you can’t separately ship the two with other characters but when they’re written together or separately SXY is always in someway and aggressor and I think that’s incorrect because we can see when the two interact there is playful banter, and a sprinkle of sass and I think that’s lovely to see. The two are also my favourite straight couple.

And In the book, she was clearly a righteous cultivator, but she still fell in love with the demon resulting in her demise, but before that she had so much love, and her last living act, was as a mother to save her child, one of the man she loved. and that’s why I hate it when people write her as a spiteful bitch because she was exactly the opposite. 

I also hate their love story with TLJ wasn’t told through one of their perspectives (not that I have any problem with ZZL doing it) she was one of the most in my opinion important female character in the story and I think, knowing her thoughts as she went through the motions of losing her husband and her life as well as Falling by the hands of someone who emotionally manipulated her would add more brutality to the story of PIDW and svsss along with SJ’s pov.

In conclusion, I think it is truly a shamed that such a strong, female character is boiled down to a jealous bitch in so much fanfiction and it’s also upsetting that this happens to so many other female characters.

You know what we need? SuTian Ladyhawke AU with Shang Qinghua as Mouse. For those that don’t know the 1985 classic the broad strokes are that an evil bishop has cursed a couple by making it so that by day the woman is a hawk and by night the man is a wolf. The only way to break the curse is for them to touch as humans but they transform as soon as the dawn and dusk break. Mouse is an escaped thief who gets saved by the knight and accidentally becomes tangled up in their curse. In this AU Old Palace Master curses Tianlang Jun and Su Xiyan to turn into animals the same way. SXY should be Navarre the captain, riding around looking like a badass in black during the day and turning into a massive black wolf at night. TLJ is the titular Ladyhawke, maybe not a hawk but a massive beautiful bird of some kind during the day whilst at night he’s a forlorn damsel living a half life. Shang Qinghua somehow gets in trouble and has to be on the run for a while whilst the system in the background gives vague advice. He gets saved by SXY from some Huan Hua palace disciples and gets roped into her revenge plan to kill the OPM. Maybe Zhuzhi Lang can be the priest that comes up with the solution? I don’t know this could be fun! I’m not sure I’m funny enough to write SQH’s asides to the System.

He convinces SQQ by gesturing at MBJ and his chest-out fashion like "this could be YQY and LGQ if we converted" and that holds more appeal than SQQ would ever admit. (QiJiu reconciliation fueled by too many horny thoughts? And then YQY 'bullies' SQQ into wearing the new uniforms and oh, there goes LQG. SQQ has two hands and with one he has to keep holding onto stupid sexy Liu-shidi so he stops walking into walls.)

And what better way to convert the sect than get TLJ out from under the mountain and pledge their allegiance to him? If SQH pulls this madness off in time they might even have a chance to save SXY! (Which would placate QQQ, especially after the Old Palace Master's garbage comes to light - she will be one of the main advocates of throwing the man in a pit of fire ants and watching him die a slow, well-deserved death.)

So OPM's manipulation is all out in the open and HHP is going under and I guess that's just barely enough to put them as "not a righteous sect and not an evil sect, but a secret third thing (weird)" which sure is a reputation to have, but not a bad one as such. Anyway, TLJ is the emperor of a whole realm and he's bankrolling them, so it's not like they need to play nice with the rest of the jianghu if they don't want to.

That sure would be a fun scenario for Shen Yuan to transmigrate into, huh? Lands as a nameless OC disciple (17 and very sassy) who's joining CQMS after his native sect was destroyed by some random catastrophe and he's making up all these elaborate plans in his head on how to help LBH out in the sect, only to find out that LBH (also 17 and very spoiled) is head disciple of Bai Zhan, getting kinda-but-not-really preferential treatment because he's the son of the sect benefactor. Also for funsies please imagine a Moshang spawn there too, because SQH developed an unfortunate habit of falling into every wifeplot ever (it's the System's revenge).

Trouble trios Ning Yingying+Sha Hualing+Liu Mingyan vs Shen Yuan+Bingmei+Moshang sprog unintentionally trying to outdo each other on who can cause their respective Shizuns the bigger headache. Shen Yuan isn't certain why he ended up in such a wacky AU fanfic setting, but Binghe is happy and handsome and keeps hitting on him cooking him snacks to make him feel welcome after what happened to his old sect, so he's enjoying his time too much to complain (much).

A lot of people have made posts of varying degrees of sincerity about how actually Su Xiyan and Tianlang Jun were t4t and she got that man pregnant, but I haven’t actually seen people try to take that any further and make any AUs out of it.

Consider two ideas:

-Heavenly Demon(ess) Su Xiyan meets and falls in love with the silly but very talented human cultivator Tianlang Jun, who could not have been more clearly a spy sent to seduce her but also could not have more clearly genuinely fallen in love with her very quickly

OR

-Things start out the way they do in canon with Heavenly Demon TLJ and human cultivator SXY meeting and falling in love, except instead of Su Xiyan not being able to tell TLJ about HER pregnancy before they’re permanently separated, it’s Tianlang Jun who is pregnant and doesn’t get a chance to tell Su Xiyan before she seemingly betrays him. There are a LOT of ways this could play out but here’s just one suggestion: Tianlang Jun uses the last of his strength to zap his newborn baby somewhere where someone might take care of him—certainly sending him far away from his mother because she’s clearly not the person he thought she was. When Su Xiyan finds out what happened, she realizes she can’t stay with Huan Hua after what they did to her love, and just up and runs away, possibly killing Old Palace Master before she leaves. She changes her name and goes on the run as a rogue cultivator, and whenever she can she tries to find information on where they took Tianlang Jun and how she might be able to get him out. (She grimly thinks about ten times a day that it probably would be easier to gather this information if she hadn’t left HHP.) Seventeen years after Tianlang Jun is ripped away from her, she attends the latest Immortal Alliance Conference in disguise and sees a young man who looks so much like her that it can’t be a coincidence—and he unmistakably has his father’s eyes. Does Cang Qiong know one of their best and brightest is half Heavenly Demon? And more importantly, when this young man teeters on the edge of the Endless Abyss, can the woman who just found out she was his mother (just found out that she was a mother at all) like two hours ago save him from an unimaginable fate?
