So I thought that, since Kyana eventually regrets killing the hermit in the Brecilian, she comes back to his campsite after defeating the Archdemon to pay her respects.
And then I thought that it’d be fun if, as a symbolic gesture, she planted the Oak Branch (which is the staff she’s going to use for the entirety of the game, at least narratively) at that campsite - both as a memorial to the hermit and a sacrifice of her own (it’s a good staff! she likes it! it gives her access to the heart of the forest! but she gives it up).
And then I thought… well, what if the hermit’s spirit was still hanging around, either due to blood magic shenanigans or just some unfinished business.
And what if that spirit possessed the oak the sylvanwood staff grows into, becoming a sylvan.
And what if being a tree weirdly helped with the paranoia the hermit felt in life(you could say it’s… grounding), making that spirit less violent, thus creating a new non-hostile sylvan named the Hermit Oak that speaks in riddles instead of poems, still hoards “treasures” and occasionally trades with travelers. It also sends said travelers on quests to annoy the Great Oak sometimes, but now it’s more of a neighbor rivalry than “go kill that other guy”.

Game Assets Notes
These are plants shown in Dragon Age but aren't named in universe, just in their model files or through identification of the textures. Since most filler plant textures are just that of real world plants.
**NOTE:** When I mention they are not the known name of any plant, this comes with the caveat of being popular common names. Common names are highly variable and inconsistent. They depend on regional knowledge and association. Some travel farther than others. Common names are also not reliable identifiers.
Acacia: Black Wood ~ Note: Black Wood is a type of acacia. Both acacia and black wood are named assets.
Artichoke ~ Note: Identification comes from asset name, the artichoke flower is used as ornamentation of a box.
Banyan Tree
Boxwood ~ A type of shrub, identification comes from asset name.
Bradford Pear ~ Their fruits are edible, however their flowers are known to emit a smell akin to rotting meat. Identification comes from asset name.
Calla Lily ~ Note: Not named but identified by the texture used. It is seen in Val Royeaux planters.
Cattail ~ Note: Seen through out DAO and DAI, identification comes from asset name.
Coleus ~ Note: Not named but identified by the texture used. It is seen in Val Royeaux planters and in the Frostback Basin.
Crape Myrtle
Cypress: Italian Cypress, Topiary Cypress ~ Note: In terms of the Italian Cypress, in world it wouldl likely be called the "Antivan Cypress" given that Antiva is pulling from Italian culture, food, environments, and other inspirational elements. Cypress is a plant that is named in canon.
Daikon Radish ~ Note: Found on Dennet's farm, identification comes from asset name.
Dogwood
Elephant Ear ~ Note: Foliage found in the Frostback Basin, identification comes from asset name.
Fade Berry
Fern: Red Fern, Sword Fern ~ Note: The red fern isn't a real plant and therefore can be considered unique to Thedas. In contrast the sword fern is a real plant. Identification comes from the asset name for both of these ferns.
Forest Clover
Foxleaf ~ Note: This is another plant that is not real, no plant has this common name as far as I could find.
Gasbloom ~ Note: Seen in the Arbor Wilds, the Frostback Basin some elven ruins, and the elven ruins of multiplayer levels. Their identification comes from the asset name. There are two versions of the texture the "fixed" version is used in JoH dlc and thus explains the difference in appearance. This is not the name of a known mushroom.
Hero Tree
Palm: Curly Palm, Fan Palm ~ Note: Both palms are seen in the Frostback Basin, both are identified by their named assets.
Pear Cactus ~ Note: Found in the Frostback Basin, identification comes from the asset name.
Pine: Chir Pine
Ponga Tree ~ Note: Also known as the 'Tree Fern'. This is the tree you see in Val Royeaux garden as coming from Par Vollen, and throughout the Arbor Wilds.
Redwood ~ Note: Identified by the name of the file asset. Found in the Winter Palace, Exalted Plains, and on multiplayer maps.
Snapdragon
Trex
Waterweed ~ Note: In real life this is an entire genus not one particular plant. Though the six plants in this genus do share the common name of waterweed.
White Birch
Witchhazel
Additional Notes and Trivia
Ironwood - Unclear if this is an alternative name, the actual name of the plant, or both.
Morel - This mushroom is inferred due to the existence of Blighted Morel. However it is not explicitly specified there is a non-blighted morel.
Sponge Root - Though canonical as it is mentioned and shown in World of Thedas vol. 2 on pg. 138 with a collection of deep mushroom and surface mushroom illustrations. This mushroom was cut twice from Inquisition. It was cut from the base game as a craftable, it had a much different appearance from its final design, and then it was cut again from Trespasser. It does however still make an appearance in Inquisition as the inventory icon for Crystal Grace.
Unnamed Glowing Mushroom Is mentioned in multiplayer when there are two Lukas playing.
Unnamed Mushroom These brown mushrooms are seen in the Fallow Mire and the Frostback Basin. They are shown in two different sizes ranging from shorter than a dwarf to taller than one.
There is one unlisted mushroom, its assets is named "red mushroom" and thus is identified by textures. These is not a canon name but is included for completeness. Amanita Muscaria: More commonly know as fly agaric or fly amanita, the red top with white spots is an iconic in its imagery. You will find large swaths of these mushrooms in the Frostback Basin. Their assets is named "Red Mushroom".
Winterberry is a real plant. However, from what we see in DA2, it does not the same as the plant we have in the real world, just a shared common name.
Wormroot is another real plant name. However, due to the description in The Calling, it does not seem to be the same plant. In The Calling it is used to treat the venom of a giant spider. The real world plant is used to treat parasites in the gut and does not seem to hold any shared uses in folk lore, folk medicine, or western medicine practices.

OC INTERVIEW
I was going through my Sy tag and found this old tag game from [checks timestamp] 2015. Since I'm dusting her off for a new playthrough I thought I'd update it.
Tagged: some 9 years ago by @ofwolvesandshatteredshields (HAHA SURPRISE!)
Tagging: oh god oh fuck um. uh. hm
@storybookhawke @hawkeykirsah @greywardan @dammithawke @warden-mahariel and ive run out of people. do it anyways its fun
Pick one of your characters and answer as if you're them being interviewed. Tag some others.
Tumblr media
CHARACTER: Sylaira Mahariel (Longbowman, Ranger, Assassin, HoF, died bringing down the Archdemon)
If I get into it I may compile like an actual article written by Brother Genitivi about Warden Mahariel (interviewed after the Landsmeet but before the battle of Denerim) but thats a bigass maybe lmfao
ANYWAYS LET's BEGIN
1. What is your name?
Sy Mahariel.
2. What is your real name?
That is my real name. Sy is short for Sylaira, if you wish to be pedantic. Most simply call me Grey Warden, which suits me just fine.
3. Do you know why you were called that?
I'm called Grey Warden because that's what I am. …Oh, you meant the name?
My parents died before I had the chance to ask them. Ashalle told me once that my mother honored Sylaise; I assume that's why. Our names are similar, though I'm not exactly the best disciple of the Hearthkeeper.
4. Single or taken?
Taken for granted, primarily. Next question.
5. Have any abilities or powers?
I am a Dalish hunter. What does that tell you?
…Oh, all right. We - the hunters, that is - are proficient with longbows, shortbows, light blades, and simple potion-making, though we usually leave that for the craftsmen. Basic survival and tracking skills are also standard. Personally, I prefer longbows. Mine is dragonthorn and sylvanwood.
And over the course of the Blight I've picked up the skills of a ranger, and Grey Wardens have their own abilities.
6. Some have called you a Mary Sue. Thoughts?
Is that a reference to some shem hero? There are far too many.
7. What's your eye color?
I'm sitting right in front of you. Have you not eyes? They are blue, last I checked.
The color used to be deeper, in fact. It's faded out some in recent months. Blight sickness will do that.
8. What's your hair color?
…Black, as you can see. Have you received a blow to the head recently? What is the relevance of this, anyways? If you're committing my likeness to paper, focus on the vallaslin. It is the Hearthkeeper, Sylaise's pattern of clan Sabrae. Also in blue, I may add.
9. Have you got any family members?
My clan is my family. I had to leave them when I was recruited by the Warden Duncan, or risk spreading the Blight to them all.
10. Oh? What about pets?
There is a wardog that imprinted on me after the battle of Ostagar. Clever thing, highly loyal, obsessed with food. He reminds me of an old friend of mine, so I call him Fenarel.
11. Now tell me about something you don't like.
You don't have enough paper in that little notebook of yours, Genitivi, nor do we have time. In summary, though: Darkspawn. The Chantry. Wastefulness. And arrogant shems who think they know what's best.
12. Do you have any hobbies you enjoy?
Look around us, old man. We are in the midst of a Blight. I am one of two total Grey Wardens remaining in the entirety of Ferelden. Do you think I have time for hobbies?
Before the Blight, I enjoyed assisting Master Ilen, the clan craftsman. He tells me I have a good hand for bowmaking.
13. Ever hurt anyone before?
I challenge you to find me a Dalish hunter who has not.
14. Ever killed anyone before?
[She stares deadpan at me.] Are you serious?
You're serious.
Yes, I have killed people, you stupid shemlen.
Humans threatening our clan. Bandits. Carta. Blood mages. Tevinter slavers. Overzealous templars. Casteless thugs. Deeply, deeply stupid farmers hoping for reward money. Idiot knights defending the honor of an honorless man. At least two Arls and a Teyrn. Shall I continue?
15. What kind of animal are you?
I am an elf.
Ah, metaphorically. I've no idea. Wardens are associated with griffons, are they not? Likely one of those.
16. What are your worst habits?
I hold onto hope when I should be practical, according to Sten. I am too forgiving, according to Morrigan. I am too compassionate, according to Shale. I catastrophize too much, according to Zevran, which seems silly, to me; we're in a Blight. This is a catastrophe. I am too reckless, according to Alistair. And I drink too much.
17. Do you look up to anyone?
In the clan, I looked up to the hahrens; we all do. I looked up to Duncan, when he was alive. Neither of those are available to me now.
18. Orientation?
Looks to be… south-southwest.
That's not what I meant.
I know what you meant and am giving you an easy out.
19. Did you go to school?
Isn't that what shem nobles do with their children? No, we don't do that. We follow the Vir Tanadhal or Vir Atish'an, and every hunter knows the Vir Banal'ras. Dalish children are taught our history and culture by the hahrens. But no, there is no "school".
20. Would you want to marry and have children one day?
I did, once. I was… you humans call it 'betrothed'? I had hoped to marry Tamlen. But that is not possible anymore.
21. Have any fans?
Preoccupation with me tends to lead more to assassins than 'fans'.
22. What are you most afraid of?
I do not hold fear in my heart.
23. What do you usually wear?
I spend most of my time on the battlefield, so, armor.
24. Do you love someone?
Yes.
24a. Care to elaborate?
No.
25. When was the last time you wet yourself?
[she levels an icy glare at me and does not answer]
26. We're not done yet…
Then stop asking stupid questions.
27. What 'class' are you?
What, like noble, commoner, mage? The Dalish don't do that.
28. How many friends do you have?
More than you'd think, although likely I will not see many of them again. And the people traveling with me will always be important to me.
29. Thoughts on pie?
Leliana's mentioned that. It's a type of food, yes? I've never had it.
[We take a brief intermission while I find us some pie.]
This is… fruit? In a pastry? It's good. Impractical - we could never make such things in the aravels - but tasty.
30. Favorite drink?
The only 'drink' we get with any regularity is… I'm not sure how to describe it, actually. Alistair calls it "Grey Whiskey". It's quite something.
In my clan, we make honey mead and wild fruit wines. Those always remind me of home.
31. What's your favorite place?
There is a birch grove in the Brecilian forest. I imagine it's fallen to the Blight, by now. I used to go there with Tamlen, a long time ago.
32. Are you interested in someone?
[She does not meet my gaze.] Even if I were, such follies are dangerous.
33. What's your cup size?
[I had barely enough time to notice her glare before her fist shot out and collided with my nose. In lieu of an answer, she threw a rag at me to staunch the blood.]
34. Would you rather swim in a lake, or the ocean?
[She laughs. It's unexpected, but a lovely sound.] Have you been to the Ferelden coast, Genitivi? It'd be safer to swim in Orzammar. Lakes, thank you very much.
35. What's your type?
Not you. Next question.
36. Any fetishes?
[She glares at me.]
37. Top or bottom? Dominant or submissive?
[She stands to leave.]
38. No, please don't leave. I'm sorry. Do you prefer camping or sleeping indoors?
[She sits back down.] You, old man, have a fondness for dangerous and inappropriate questions. This I will answer, though my patience wears thin.
I prefer camping. My entire life prior to the Blight, I remember being able to hear the wind in the trees and see the sky. It is comforting to know one's place in nature. Walls and roofs have their place, but I don't like them, and I particularly dislike being underground.
39. Do you carry anything sentimental?
…Yes. All Grey Wardens wear a pendant that we receive after the Joining. And I've kept my old hunting gloves; Ashalle gave them to me when I received my vallaslin, and they were made by Master Ilen. [After a long, heavy moment, she slips a ring off of her finger and places it in my palm. It is a simple band carved from wood, detailed with elfroot leaves, warm in the hand.] And this - you call it a promise ring, I believe. Tamlen gave me this, a long time ago, before we came of age, before the Blight, to declare our intent to marry. Ma vhenan. Ma abelas. It reminds me of what I have lost. I will carry it until my death.
40. Thank you for your time.
Mhm. I recommend leaving the city, old man. You're in no condition to defend yourself from hordes of darkspawn, and they're approaching quickly.

DRAGION AGE OC — Dirthadin, Elvhen Keeper of the Dead
Dirthadin — 47, he/him (concept sketch) Mage — Necromancy, Primal, and Entropy. His Vallaslin design is based off both Falon’din and Dirthamen
He has a half shaven head with straight black hair to his shoulder. His eyes are teal with a slight rim of purple. His lips and eyelids are also tattooed. He particularly gaunt, almost skeletal, at a height of 5′9″ with a deathly pallor. His accent is a central Irish one, like Cavan or Monaghan.
Dirthadin was born to the Dalish clan Shirabal and trained as its First until the death of the Keeper, Beladalin. Dirthadin took on a new First, Revaren, and attempted to preserve what he could of Beladalin’s knowledge. He studied the Nevarran art of necromancy, and learned many secrets of magic, but specifically looks for lost knowledge of the Dalish. He passed much of what he could to Revaren, but many of the clan find Revaren too inexperienced to properly lead them  There is little they can do with so few mages before Arlathvhen, however, and neither do they question him to his face.
Some find it selfish of Dirthadin to have abandoned his people and post as Keeper and are somewhat bitter about it. others think that the death of Beladalin affected him so much that he turned to necromancy through guilt and refuses to face the clan as it reminds him too much of the Keeper. All speculation, however, as he avoids the topic complete.
They trusted him to keep them safe regardless of how disturbed some found the practice, but he parted from the clan willingly and passed on the torch of Keeper of Shirabal to his First. He became instead a self-proclaimed Keeper of the Dead, finding it important to restore the knowledge of the Dalish and explore what he could on his own without putting his clan in any danger of his particularly ambitious ventures into haunted, blighted, or otherwise disturbed territories. Thus he took to communing with spirits and collecting knowledge of elves long past at their graves. At times, he digs up the corpses of those who died far from a proper burial site, and puts their body (and spirit) to proper rest.
His mage staff is special to him, the head made of the horn of an ancient halla that has been completely opalized, and the body is petrified sylvanwood inlaid with veins of opalization. The wood is dark in color, but the pale iridescent horn and veins make it stand out, and at times the opal glows with a pale shimmer when he casts magic through it.
Despite his stark visage and chilling magic proficiencies, he is kind with a great passion for knowledge and exploration. He has a soft voice that is complemented by its depth. He attends the Arlathvhen sporadically with new discoveries, finding new means of weaving and sewing, new vallaslin designs, new pottery shapes and techniques, interesting jewelries and weapons. Nothing is too small to be noticed to him. What he cannot ethically take (such as from graves) or cant take at all (such as paintings or etchings in mountainsides) he sketches in a packed journal. He has several filled with drawings, from fabric weaving patterns to jewelry links.

Embrium, for Valona
Asks here
Embrium :: What is the kindest thing anyone had ever done to your character, and do they remember or even know it happened?
It was actually a pretty small act, but Valona wouldn't forget it. It was during the Protect Clan Lavellan series of wartable missions, and Valona was incredibly worried for her clan's safety, and feeling homesick. Knowing this, Josephine used her ambassador status to reach out to a Dalish clan not too far away, and paid to have Sylvanwood ring made for her. It was small and simple, and didn't even tell much of a story, but Valona almost broke down when she felt the familiar sensation of the ring in her hands.
Thank you so much for the ask ^^

I wrote this as a sort of sequel to my Clan Lavellan's Fate & transition from There Isn't into the remaining chapters of the BreakUp/MakeUp miniseries. I wanted to come back and have a moment of Lanil seeing what was left of her clan after she got her memories back. I don't know how cathartic it is, but I felt like it was necessary for her.
Lanil's Pieces Masterlist
Clan Lavellan's Fate // Part I There Isn't
.
She had forgotten how much she liked the sea.
Lanil stood on the edge of a cliff. Leagues below, the dark grey sea churned against the rock and the tiniest splatters of salt and water freckled her clothing and face. Wind as strong as the Iron Bull, maybe even stronger, yanked and tugged at her slender frame. She felt… miniscule. A weed clinging to the crumbling edge of the world. It reminded her of the Hissing Wastes, the blue and indigo sand dunes that stretched in every direction under the immense moon. She had wanted to scream into the stillness then. Fill it up with her voice until her echoes imprinted on every grain of sand. Now she wanted to shout. To yell with the wind and the roaring sea and become just as vast. Limitless.
But she didn’t come here to get in a shouting match with the elements.
With one more lingering glance on the horizon, on the steel grey water that deepened into a heart-aching blue at the farthest edge of her sight, Lanil turned away. This far on the coast, there weren’t that many trees. It was mostly pebble beaches and large, craggy rocks twisted and carved by millennia of wind and water. The few trees were thick-barked pines with mostly bare limbs that creaked and moaned overhead as she walked down the well-worn path.
The mayor, an elf once of the now torn-down Wycome Alienage, had told her villagers often went, but Lanil hadn’t thought it would be so many that the path was easier to walk now than when she and the Clan had lived here more than two years previous. Though, the Clan had only been this side of Wycome for a few weeks when she’d left for the Conclave. They had planned to stay only until she returned, with another previous year’s campsite as rendezvous if they had to move on before she could come back.
They should have moved on immediately instead of waiting for her.
She saw the sails first. Lavellan dark orange and forest green.
Her heart lifted into her throat and she was running before she could think. If she had, she would’ve controlled herself. She would’ve remembered what the mayor had told her, what he’d described. The treeline broke and she ran into the clearing, chest heaving, eye wide. Aravels almost exactly where she remembered them being anchored. Sails with different family symbols dyed or woven waved among the branches. The carefully reconstructed statues of the Creators covered in flower garlands. Lanil lay a hand on the foot of Fen’Harel nearest her, his snout pointed away from the Clan.
But he was much too close to the camp.
The aravels had no wheels.
The sails were tattered and sunbleached.
It was silent.
No halla picked their way among the campsite. What was left of their paddock were crumbling, rotting stumps in a large vaguely oval shape.
Lanil set her forehead against the wolf statue, pressed her palms flat to the smooth sylvanwood. “You win this round, trickster,” she muttered with a wry smirk.
She inhaled, exhaled, and walked further into the camp. There were more flowers than she’d originally realized. There weren’t just garlands on the Creators; they hung from the trees, crisscrossing overhead like the beams of Skyhold’s great hall. They grew riotously around the bases of the wheelless aravels, crawled in voluminously leafy vines up the wooden hulls and towering tree trunks. Were laid at the foot of a large stone stele. Heart thudding, Lanil walked towards the stele. It barely reached hip-height, squared edges smoothed by hands and two years worth of wind, rain, and snow. The top was shorn at a slant, and the flat surface polished and varnished to a mirror shine.
In Memory of Clan Lavellan
those who failed you but will not forget
Falon’Din enasal enaste
She should’ve brought flowers. It was such an easy thing to do and she hadn’t even done that. She came empty-handed, as she had done over a decade ago. Begging for salvation then, looking for forgiveness now. She hadn’t even commissioned this damn stone. Complete strangers had done this while she played world leader halfway across Thedas. The tears came silently, slipping from stinging hot eyes and past her snarling lips pulled back from gritting teeth. She clenched her hands into fists and her shoulders shook.
She could see them now. All those faces she had forgotten.
Lanil could feel the full weight of that grief at last. She hated it, hated standing there alone as the echoes of their laughter and stories were carried past her on the wind. Was it her mind playing tricks with her blurring vision, or was the Veil torn so thin that she could truly see their shades running among the trees and sitting around where the campfire had once been?
She felt too open, too exposed; each breath heaved and her chest shuddered. It was hard, too hard, to inhale without gasping, to exhale without whistling through her teeth. But she managed it, then managed it again, and once more. Until her vision cleared and she could step away from the stone stele.
For a few hours she walked among the bare bones and dregs of Clan Lavellen. Her hands lingering on aravel hulls and flower garlands, her steps faltering where she remembered tents erected or found remnants of tools or weapons buried in the grass and dirt. Finally, she came to rest in front of a large wooden pillar. There were so many flowers at its foot they all but made a carpet with stubs of candles stuck into the dirt. Carved deeply into the sylvanwood was the relief of Mythal, her dragon wings spread and her face masked.
Bound forever to Mythal and she didn’t even get justice for her clan out of it. Lanil smirked wryly. They got theirs, that Duke and his secret Venatori cabal, thanks to the combined efforts of her advisors and the city elves of Wycome, but she wished she could have thrown a few lightning bolts herself. There were no words, no flowers, no vows she could make to Mythal. It was over and done.
Lanil left the way she came, hesitated a mere moment at the stele and whispered the entreaty to Falon’Din. It didn’t feel like enough. Saying good-bye to an empty plot of land was as useless as crying.
She wasn’t one for imagination, but she could have sworn she felt Fen’Harel’s eyes on her back the entire time she walked down the path. The hair on the back of her neck stood straight up. It was one of the more difficult things she'd ever done, but she didn't turn back once.

My favourite thing about mage!Lavellan romancing Solas is both parties just... failing their duties in hilarious ways: As First of her Clan, Lavellan would have been instructed in warding off the Dread Wolf. The actual Dread Wolf tries, desperately, to not be seduced by her and pull himself away. Solas saying "We shouldn't! It's not right!" like some pure maiden just cracks me up. Not only is Fen'Harel not tempting anyone, He Who Hunts Alone is being actively hunted down by this single elf girl.
Yes! And Mage Lavellan, as First (like Merrill), likely literally wears a magical sylvanwood ring inscribed with the story of his Great Betrayal purely and specifically to remind her never to trust the Dread Wolf and to always be on guard and protect her clan against him. So she’s just like... unknowingly doing the absolute worst at her job. The worst of any First, ever.
But also, because she’s LITERALLY transforming this estranged and resented god’s view of the world, drawing his attention from the Fade, loving him, trusting him, supporting him, she’s actually doing a better job at protecting her people than any other Keeper in the history of the Dalish. Instead of exiling his statues, lonely outside Lavellan’s camp to frighten harmful spirits, she invites him in to stay—all of her camps in the Emerald Graves have a huge statue of him right at the center—for the first time he’s fully, actually welcomed in a Dalish camp.
He is hilarious and heartrending throughout, wrong-footed and strangely shamed by being fully trusted and valued and honored and loved. According to his role in the stories, he’s supposed to hate and try to destroy the clever First because her heart is good and he hates good People (or: keep focused and not be distracted by her beauty from fulfilling his duty to the People). But... she pursues the great hunter, and she loves him, and so he loves her. And they transform each other. They somehow make it past that mythological divide that should have made it impossible to love each other.
It’s just... fantastic. Absolutely beautiful. DELICIOUS FOOD. Romance beyond romance. I love this story.

Gifts
finally got around to finishing second part of this ficlet collection. part one here
Josephine was used to giving gifts. As a diplomat, it was expected of her. Expensive bibelots to buy her way into the graces of rich nobles. She was also used to receiving gifts. Meaningless baubles or an occasional box of sweets, briberies rather than actual gifts.
A break from the mundane part of her work was the chance to buy thoughtful presents for her friends. A pair of black satin shoes with a little heel, adorned with feathers for Leliana, to add to her collection. A crate of wine from her family’s vineyard for Dorian. New woodwork tools for Warden Blackwall. A set of sword oils for Cassandra’s weapons. Antivan plays and poem anthologies for the Inquisitor. And so on.
Haleira joined the Inquisition’s inner circle later than anyone else. At first, she was a mystery to Josephine. The Inquisitor’s close family, a brilliant hunter with an ice-cold exterior. They ran into each other often, suspiciously often, but neither complained. Haleira opened up and Josephine learned more about her. And the ambassador became very fond of her.
When Haleira mentioned her sweet tooth, Josephine ordered a box of Orlesian cakes. “To show appreciation for the work Haleira does for the Inquisition.” With a smile, she watched her face light up as she opened the box.
Haleira left Skyhold to scout the Dales soon after. When she came back and entered Josephine’s office holding the long-lost Montilyet crest, Josephine was speechless. She thanked Haleira profusely, but the elf just said: “It’s a thanks for all your hard work.” But it meant so much more.
Many other gifts followed and all pretense of a business exchange was dropped. Shipments ordered by Josephine came to Skyhold almost weekly. Tempered glass bottles for Haleira’s elixirs. Rare alchemical ingredients from the north. Leather crafts bought from Dalish crafters. Sweets from all over Thedas, starting from Rivaini candied bananas and ending with cloudberry tarts from the far south. Every time Haleira returned to Skyhold, she received a package.
Likewise, Haleira always made sure to bring something for Josephine from her travels. A quill from an ancient Tevinter ruin, spared by time. A rough geode of glittering blue lazurite, like the midsummer sky. A paperweight of Serault glass with a violet inclusion. A sylvanwood writing board.
As time passed, Their relationship became romantic, and the gifts became more personal. Haleira found out about Josephine’s doll collection and made it her goal to add to it. Josephine reciprocated by recovering elven manuscripts from merchants. Haleira translated them and returned them to her clan.
She also ordered custom-made lockets for herself and Haleira. One silver and one gold, a miniature portrait in each. Haleira remarked how cheesy it was, but she put the locket on right away. The silver chain hung around her neck each time Josephine saw her.
The day came when Haleira had to return to Wycome to her clan. Josephine would write letters to her as often as she could. The open golden locket rested on her desk, among all the gifts from Haleira. And she knew her love was stored in all those objects.
At the other side of the Waking Sea, Haleira would reply, one hand on the quill, the other idly caressing the silver locket around her neck. The glass bottles and fine leather belts, the bag for her alchemical ingredients etched with a motif of a fox and an enchanted silver ring, all gifts from her lover. All imbued with her love.

🍉: Does your OC have a particular piece of jewelry that they always wear or refuse to part with?
Niamh always wears earrings, but the earrings themselves aren’t sentimental or special or anything!
Dasha wears a necklace that belonged to her father, as well as a ring from Keeper Marethari on a leather cord around her neck. (She also has her earlobes, nose, and septum pierced, but she doesn’t usually wear elaborate or sentimental jewelry in her piercings bc she doesn’t want it to get torn out or lost/broken during fights)
Toni has at least a half-dozen piercings on their face and ears (as well as several pieces of body jewelry), but thankfully none of that is sentimental, as they’re constantly losing jewelry all over Kirkwall (and has actually had their septum ring torn out during a fight 😬). One piece of jewelry that IS super sentimental is a friendship bracelet Merrill made for them 💕💕
Enaste wears a sylvanwood ring from Keeper Deshanna on a cord around her neck, and that’s the only jewelry she usually wears. (Although I will say I’m very into the idea of Solas giving a romanced Inquisitor his jawbone necklace, and it would be very Fun and Ironic for Enaste to wear her “Never Trust the Great Betrayer, Fen’Harel” ring necklace and “I Fucked the Dread Wolf and All I Got Was This Dumb Jawbone” necklace layered on top of each other lmao)
🍓: Does your OC have any particular scents they like? Or hate?
I answered Niamh and Dasha’s favorite scents here and Enaste’s here!
When I think of Toni’s favorite scents I think of the Elizabeth and James Nirvana perfume in the scent Amethyst: honeysuckle, cedar, tobacco, and musk. Sweet but not overly so, a little spicy, and musky.
🍪: What is something that’s sentimental to your OC?
I don’t think Niamh has many sentimental trinkets. Not because she isn’t sentimental (she’s SUPER sentimental), but because she hasn’t had a chance to keep anything special. She doesn’t have basically anything from the clan she came from originally and I don’t think she received many special gifts (or many gifts at all, tbh 😔) growing up in Kinloch Hold.
Dasha has the special jewelry mentioned above, and then also has a stuffed halla that she got as a little girl. Her Dalish belt and foot wraps, etc, have become sentimental now that she’s separated from her clan.
Toni carries their father’s staff (lmao I always think of that one post) and generally hoards any knickknacks they’re gifted; they try to act like they’re shallow and uninterested in sentimental stuff but they’re actually extremely sentimental to the point of keeping things that are definitely just garbage
Even though she travels light, Enaste has a bunch of tiny trinkets from her parents, siblings, nieces, and friends back home. She has a little wooden halla that her father carved for her, a string of decorated wooden beads on her staff that were a gift from her youngest sister Asvhalla, a wrap her mother wove, and a bunch of other knick-knacks like little shells and flowers and such!

hi bestie 5, 15, and 25 for the asks
hiiii bestie tysm for sending these!! 💖
5. what type of cc do you hoard?
plants and clutter for sure. it’s kind of funny because i’m usually so minimalistic in my cc hoarding (i only get cas cc + big furniture if i see a sim of mine using it in the near future; i recolor all hairstyles that go in my game in the witching hour palette and keep only the swatch i’ll use; for everything i delete swatches i don’t plan on using, etc). so ig plants and clutter is where i go feral
15. who is your current favorite sim that is not by you?
okay, brace yourself for a list because i am feeling the love sDSJDFJFSD i am very out of the loop in terms of people i follow and i know this list will expand as soon as i catch up. also there’s more rn but this is just off the top of my head
if we’re going by premades that were improved by simblrs, my current faves are: your nancy landgraab, @robertpancakes sergio romeo, @gunthermunch munches but especially ulrike and lucas
in terms of original sims, my faves right now are: @larularo entire sylvanwood family, @eerisims nora joyner, @melsie-sims jericho flynn, @marigolde ana renata
25. how many hours have you played sims?
origin tells me i’m sitting at around 1095 hours, but i play offline a lot because i procrastinate updating like my life depends on it, so... more than that for sure. when you add ts1-ts3 and the handheld games.... it has to be a ridiculous number of hours
