Ah, Endverse.

Zachariah is the de facto god of this reality. It's an abbreviated universe, meticulously crafted to culminate in a neat, episodic conclusion. "A moral of the story," if you will, with the deaths of Dean and Cas serving as the stop signs, signaling the end of the narrative.

Still, it feels like a bit of a waste, and Zachariah, ever the perfectionist, wants to take one more look at it.

But when he returns to admire his creation, to his horror, Junkie Cas—who was supposed to die without grace—ambushes him. In a desperate, vicious move, Cas slits Zachariah's throat, drinking just enough grace to escape and use it to revive Dean Winchester.

This act of rebellion shatters Zachariah’s design, forcing him to confront a glitch: that even in a universe he created, he cannot control the chaos of free will. The unpredictable spark of life renders his omnipotence impotent.

The universe he thought had no reason to continue beyond its set parameters? It has other plans.

Simon likes watching tv with you. He likes being with you in general, likes being at home even better, and there's just something so cozy about cuddling on the couch at the end of the day. It's so normal in a way he never imagined he'd get to experience.

Sometimes he falls asleep, and sometimes he's more focused on you than on whatever you're watching, but tonight, you're on the season finale of the first season of one of your favorite shows, one he'd never seen, so he's paying attention. It's good enough, though a little maudlin for his taste, and he's just about to crack a joke about the dramatics of it all when he hears a sniffle.

He looks over, and you're full-on crying, eyes glued to the screen while tears stream down your face. He glances around the room in confusion, because ... what is this? But he knows you well at this point, has studied you like you're both a person he loves and a lesson to learn, and he can see how invested you are in the show -- that's what you're crying about.

A laugh rumbles out of his chest, the tv forgotten, by him, anyway.

"You fucking serious?" he asks, not unkindly but amused. "You're crying over this?"

"It's sad!" you answer quickly. "Have you not been watching?"

"I've been watching, haven't seen anything to weep over though."

You scoff, pausing the show, and turn to him. He knows he's about to get a talking-to, and he settles in, smirking and excited to hear it.

"One, I'm not weeping, I'm showing natural human emotion to something very sad," you tell him. "Two, she is so strong and so brave? Three she's 16 and she thinks she's going to die, that's --"

"She's not gonna die, love, come off it," he interrupts you, still smirking. "There's six seasons left."

For some reason, that causes you to cry harder. You actually let out a soft little sob, your face crumpling. Simon feels a little bit like a dick for it, but he still laughs. Not because he's laughing at you, but because it's all just so damn adorable.

He tuts, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you to his chest, "Come on now, sweetheart, that's enough of that. Don't like to see you crying, you know that."

He holds you for a moment before he reaches over and presses play, and the two of you stay silent for the rest of the episode -- until you cry again, then a third time. His arms stay around you, firm and solid, and he can't help but smile.

It's something about the knowledge that you're crying over something that doesn't matter, not really, and how that means that there's nothing more serious to cause you grief. It makes him feel like he's doing something right to make you feel comfortable enough to let him see you like this.

When the end credits of the episode start playing, he leans down to kiss the top of your head, and he says, "Think you got some snot on my shirt, take a break for a wardrobe change?"

"You're such a jerk," you tell him, but he can hear the smile in your voice.

"Ah, but I'm your jerk," he concedes, pulling you just a little closer. "I'll take that."

Going through the murderbot show tag and I'm kinda upset by how many people are saying that the Gurathin scene was creepy, unnecessary, look how they massacred my boy etc etc

Like instead of thinking hey, maybe this is character who is under a lot of stress and feels fundamentally different from his peers and is desperately trying to connect but it's just not fucking working. And under the circumstances going off to be alone and take comfort in the scent of another person, someone you care about who isn't here right now and who you're worried about is a perfectly understandable thing to do

That scene wasn't creepy. It wasn't cringey. It was fucking heartbreaking. And honestly? That scene made me fall in love with Gurathin as a character

es milgram is not a blank canvas protagonist. however, they are a self insert.

the way milgram works, es is destined to always feel guilty, always be at fault for the pains of the prisoners whom theyve seen, past the crimes and for what the prisoners are, as people. seeing criminals as people is the most dangerous thing you can do in this world, not because prisoners arent to be trusted, but because suddenly the gruesome fates that criminals meet are no longer just. they haunt you, the plague you, dont they?

es has made poor decisions, yes, but thats because we all voted for them, and also, theyre 15. the only way to truly end milgram is to refuse to even entertain the system in the first place, and yet, we all voted, right? we all voted in trial 1, so now the best we can do is damage control, and i think we can all see how well thats going.

and many milgram fans either blame es or the fandom in general for that. isnt it funny, how fiction mirrors reality? because neither es nor us fans should be blamed for this, for partaking in this system. for one, es is just a kid, which deserves its own analysis honestly. but even moreso, you simply cant blame someone forced into a system for not rebelling against it. es literally didnt have any life or personhood before this role forced upon them, and we were bewitched into voting thanks to the flashy videos. we didnt know. why should we be aggressive towards eachother when the truth of the matter is, the only people who are to blame for the suffering of these prisoners AND warden are the people who put them in milgram?

this is true for reality as well. infighting will only cause more divide. the people we should be fighting are those in power responsible for the suffering in the first place!

tl;dr es milgram is the perfect example of how the responsibility for the wellbeing of criminals is put in the hands of those incentivized to grow close to said criminals, yet they still cant refuse choosing the criminals fate, thus beginning a cycle of guilt and pain that only weakens those without power

in another universe TLT is a coming of age fantasy YA tragedy about Silas having to leave home with his nephew/guardian at the age of 16 to seek glory for his house and then not only LOSING that guardian in a terrible mistake, but also losing faith in his culture/religion as a whole as he rejects everything he has been taught to stand for and want. And as he stands up for himself in his final moments and realizes his terrible miscalculation he is KILLED by the shambling, posessed body of his guardian only for his soul to be then swept away and thrust into a confusing dreamscape where nothing is real and once again he must reject his world in order to chase after something new. the universe does not forgive but maybe he can force its hand

What I'm most mad about actually is how they call in q his allyship and call him a performative activist now. Now, that he didn't run off with Michael Sheen and did a podcast with his wife?
