Then Robin starts dating Eden. Only half a surprise, really, and Dustin feels like he should've seen it coming. Nothing about the family events change; if anything, Robin, Steve and Erica attend more than they used to.

Then Erica starts dating Tabitha. From what Suzie's told him, Tabitha is the menace of the family, which... makes sense as to her dating Erica.

3/4s of the Scoops Troop dating members of the Bingham family is just uncanny. At least it can't be the full group; there's nobody else around Steve's age that he could date.

Well. There's one person.

Which is how Steve finds himself entirely confused when Dustin barges into his room and gasps out, "PLEASE DON'T FUCK SUZIE'S DAD."

A fun parallel is how the various groups of children in the Bingham household foreshadow the events of the S4 finale:

Note that Peter, with his bowl cut and stripy top, looks just like Will. They didn’t do this with the other children -- Tabitha doesn’t look like Eddie; Cornelius doesn’t look like Nancy. This extra effort to associate Peter with Will is interesting considering that we never actually see Will dump any salt into the freezer; that was Jonathan’s job.

So I wonder if Peter is there to subtly foreshadow Will’s role in Mike’s world-endingly bad monologue?

Hear me out: Peter’s doing a nice thing by making dinner for his father, but he unintentionally hurts him by adding too much salt to the pot; likewise, Will just wants to be a good friend, but he unintentionally hurts Mike and El (and arguably even Max and therefore all of Hawkins) by getting overzealously self-sacrificing in his efforts to be supportive of their relationship.

Rewatching the Bingham house scene and noticed a shot of what looks like a grandfather clock (or at least a grandfather clock face but - where is the pendulum?), immediately followed by a ‘Time Out’ sign 🫢

Also on my current rewatch I was paying close attention to the red tower in the lab, and….

(I can’t find or make screenshots of these things so you’re going to have to just deal with photos of my tv lol)

I know it’s been talked about many times how the Bingham house is full of foreshadowing. Some of season 4 was foreshadowed (like Tabitha being filmed choking, they broke the fourth wall so hard mike might as well have looked directly down the lens 😭) but I believe most of it will be hinting at stuff in season 5. I just noticed this detail with the clock and time reference, like the camera kind of twists/pans back from argyle to show the clock only to… move back in again? So the clock was intentionally shown. And then the very next shot is that close up of ‘time out’ before panning down to Eden putting Cornelius in time out. The last one I gasped at when I noticed it, since @chirpsythismorning kinda opened red tower gate in a post about how Will could be 12. So, I went back to season 1 where Hopper broke in to the lab to see if the drawing hopper found in 11’s room was the same and

No. lol. But it looks like El possibly draws her and papa a lot (which it’s shown in the rainbow room that they have colours and the kids do draw often), carrying out experiments. So if the first one was the test where he tried to get her to kill the cat, then the one that is featured in her replayed memory must have taken place in the rainbow room (as she drew the rainbow) and involved her, papa, and the red tower block.

I cant wait to see how this red tower stuff plays out but I think it’s gonna involve more lord of the rings parallels. But there’s just something about the “all this time we’ve been building it… for you” and all the other times this red tower features in season 4. I’m sure there is something important about the red tower. There’s something important hidden in the Bingham house. There’s something important hidden in the hellfire D&D campaign from episode one. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out, and I can’t wait to see more theories and analysis about this. I think that the upside down army that Nancy saw coming from the gates might build a tower, or that might have been their plan until their hive mind controller (Henry? Or the mind flayer? We still don’t know whose really running the show lol) has been weakened (assuming that it is vecna). So maybe in that experiment El drew, papa was trying to get her to knock down (or build?) the tower with her mind. Maybe we might see in 12’s room and the exact same drawing is there (but in will’s style). Maybe we’ll see this experiment in season 5, similar to how she kept getting lab flashbacks in season 1 (I mean they did say season 5 will be going back to it’s beginnings 🫢). Also something about how it was 12 building the tower. Something about that and the theory that Will created the 1983-Hawkins version of the upside down. Maybe vecna stole wills powers in the upside down to create a tower, just like he stole Els in season 3 to be able to open gates. Maybe theres gonna be Two Towers !!! One in the upside down one in the right side up and they can communicate easily between each other.

so my personal head canon about the binghams is that they were a relatively normal mormon family (high number of kids, at least eight that we know of; at least one set of multiples; age range in quick succession; elder siblings caring for younger ones) and then when the mother died (which I would place around 1984) the dad threw himself into work and the house went nuts. which is why the younger ones (cornelius, tanner, tatum, tabitha, sterling) react by going all lord of the flies; the middles try to parentify themselves (unnamed sister & peter preparing dinner, suzie being suzie); and the eldest rebels (eden), although she still generally tries to keep the siblings from dying while dad locks himself in his office. this makes almost everything about their appearance in canon make sense to me, although not everything, including their names, which are all over the fucking place.

guys i don't think we talk enough about the fact that there was a scene in the bingham house where these two were filming this girl (tabitha) choking, and the father comes in thinking she's in real danger, and the boy says "your terror, it looked geniune".

considering the bingham house foreshadowed a lot of other things, this, to me, directly parallels mike's monologue that will follow soon after.

mike being concerned for el, but thinking he has to lie ("it looked genuine") in order to save her. the other three, argyle, jonathan and will, watching the whole thing happen (we even get a few shots of jonathan and wil's faces).

Eden was adopted at the age of five by the Binghams. They were family friends and when her parents passed from a car accident, they took her in and made the adoption legal on her fifth birthday.

She never felt like she wasn’t part of the family and as the oldest, it was her job to take care of the younger ones and make sure they weren’t getting in the way of their dad working in his office and that they wouldn’t be burning the house down; which some days, was almost the case.

She started questioning her faith around the age of fourteen. There were things she was being told she didn’t understand and was even hearing differently at school from her peers. Whenever she would ask questions, she would be shot down and told to not question things, which drove her crazy. While she still went to church, she hated every moment of it. She also felt that if there was a god, why would he take her parents away.

She started rebelling more when she was sixteen. She started sneaking out, going to parties, and smoking weed as well as drinking with her friends. She discovered rock music and started playing those and dressing more like Joan Jett than the church going daughter her father wanted her to be. 

At eighteen, Eden went out and got her first tattoo, the crescent moon behind her ear. She hid them from her father, but during the summer, it was hard and he spotted them. There was a lot of yelling that day and eventually, Eden moved out with a friend. She would still come over to help with her siblings, but on days she didn’t need to be, she wasn’t at her childhood home anymore.

While wanting to be an artist, her father wouldn’t pay for schooling for that, thinking she should go into something more practical. So, she did it on the side while she did odd jobs here and there. She has worked the front desk of a hotel until she got too many tattoos that they fired her, a waitress, a bartender, and a clerk at a grocery store while continuing to be there for her younger siblings as much as she could be while her father worked as she loved them and felt like she owed it to the Binghams.

This is how it was for years until after the boys that were friends with Suzie’s boyfriend showed up. She didn’t see why they had come all that way for whatever it was they were there for and then not long after, she heard from her mother that Suzie up and left to Indiana. Unsure about all this, Eden packed a bag and went out there as well to get her sister back.

However, things didn’t go as planned. Suzie wasn’t going to leave and she wasn’t just going to let her sister be there on her own. With her younger siblings fine at home, she ended up getting a place in Hawkins and staying in town herself; getting a job as a radio host.

she joined as the second child, a younger sister to tabitha, who despite being born in a different country and of a different ethnicity, looked exactly like her 

amma loved her life growing up in salt lake city, raised a devout mormon she became the perfect example of what a young mormon girl should be

her relationship with her family was as close as it could be, her parents loved them endlessly and she could easily say that her best friend was her sister 

and despite some things that didn’t make sense to her, she could always find peace in God and in the church

so amma’s life was set, she would go on mission when she turned 19, then return to marry her longtime boyfriend aaron bingham and spend the rest of her life a happy wife and mother and a dedicated servant to the church

last year that all changed 

despite her parents espousing their endless love for their daughters as soon as they learned of tabitha’s sexuality they sent her packing 

amma’s world shattered, how could these people who had raised them turn their backs on tabi so quickly? 

then 6 months ago the fire only grew larger when her parents died in a car crash 

amma found herself alone in the world at 18, without a parent to raise her or a sister to confide in 

her faith was shaken, how could a God who loved her do this, how could he make her parents act so hatefully and then take them from her with no answers 

so amma made up her mind, she would set her life back on course, she would go retrieve her sister and take her back to salt lake city and once she did, everything would be right 

but now with shaky faith she’s taking her first steps in the world as an adult, and she’s not prepared for the change it will bring about 

okay so that was like super prose-y but i am mused the hell out. so amma was adopted from georgia (the country) and raised a devout mormon. she still is a mormon but is questioning her faith. as a person she’s tooth-achingly sweet, friendly if a little bit shy, and naive to the extreme. this is her first venture into the real world after spending her entire life sheltered. come plot!
