I think it’s time I address what is by far the BIGGEST assumption much of the fandom has made about Ruby’s and Yang’s parents:

That Raven was just the shitty parent who abandoned her daughters, and that Summer and Tai were the uncomplicated GOOD parents who made the good choices. And Qrow was the well-meaning fuckup who’s been able to improve.

When the reality is that ALL of Team STRQ were in fact well-meaning but  MASSIVE fuckups in each their own way.

Like if nothing else, they all bailed on Ruby and Yang in one way or another (Raven and Summer physically, Tai emotionally/psychologically for several years, Qrow a bit of both)

And I have a good feeling that the Vacuo arc will be when Ruby and Yang will finally have to address that shit.

i can't stop thinking about tai and shauna. how we see them start out as teammates about to fist fight at a party. as adults who only call each other on burner phones when there's an inkling of disruption of their peaceful lives. but as the story unfolds, so does their friendship. so does the fact that their lives are anything but peaceful.

how sleeping side by side in the attic turns into the "im not going to let you die from a botched abortion" all the way to "you almost died anyway let me hold you" and even decades after it all, tai still goes to shauna when she starts to struggle. you leaned on me out there all those years ago and im leaning on you out here all these years later. you shared your secrets with me then and you share them with me now. i didnt judge you then and i dont now.

how they're still 17 even when they're 42. how they'll always be 17 in some ways in every way. something something, taissa saying but did i actually do those things? something something darkness as a metaphor for trauma and how it never leaves you and follows you wherever you go and you'll always be the age you were when you experienced it.

Not my usual post type but imagine a Kung Fu Panda AU but it's one of those human high school AUs

The Furious 5 are a group of friends who all attend the same martial arts club outside of school (run by Shifu ofc) and Po is a new member of the group after his dads encouraged him to do it so he could improve his confidence.

When in school however; Crane and Viper are in the same dance club, Tigress and Mantis are part of the student Council meanwhile Monkey isn't in an after school club but often stays behind after school on Fridays to help the cleaning staff out

Kai, Tai Lung and Shen are a group of friends, your average bully group if anything. Though each one is different in their method of bullying and why they act like that

Kai being the oldest and skilled in a few different forms of martial arts likes picking on others who are more weaker than him to boost his own ego due to being scared of being seen as too soft by his two friends

Tai Lung used to be bullied before he transferred to Jade High (what I'm calling the high school in this nonsensical au) and to avoid it happening again he became a bully, eventually teaming up with Kai. Much to his family's disapproval and disappointment (his family being Shifu and Tigress)

Lastly is Shen, the rich (nepo-baby) of the group, he is vain and likes making rude comments about people's looks. But he will also be physical whrn bullying someone. Think like Regina George from mean girls mixed with Hoshiko Mizudori from Yandere Simulator (I hate that game but she's the only one I can think of that fits Shen for this). Along with this he often gets away with it more due to his parents funding the school during big events.

As for the Chameleon from Kung Fu Panda 4 she's like the stereotypical pick-me who thinks she's part of Kai's squad just bc she's also a bully, though none of those 3 dudes even know she exists

If I actually decide to make more for this I'll probably try making designs for each character and/or short stories on Tumblr based off this au.

I can’t tell you how exciting it is to have a media that causes this much anticipation. Finales are supposed to be nerve wracking and suspenseful because if the creators did a good job, you’re not supposed to know what’s going to happen going in, and I haven’t felt this stoked for a finale since probably season 10 of Supernatural

I really hope all TBB fans out there who are feeling whatever way they’re feeling about tomorrow can take a step back and relish in having a media that evokes this much emotion for you because it’s honestly rare and so so special

Do you have any fav food headcanons for STRQ?

summer: everyone get on my spinach & cheese omelette agenda 🤩 anyway she also loves arroz con pollo. it was one of the first meals she taught yang how to make.

the twins: raven's is braised rabbit & qrow's is venison stew... they probably only get to eat it once or twice a year. (branwen twins "don't make it obvious we grew up in the woods" challenge: failed.) a plate of steak & potatoes would also make them happy. butttt their favorite childhood meal was oyakodon 👍 i can imagine qrow making it for ruby & yang sometimes when they were young.

tai: mapo tofu (with extra chili flakes) he seems like the type to have a pantry shelf just for a hot sauce collection. second place is his shrimp fried rice. yang is allergic to shellfish. this was a crushing blow to him.

other people have probably already pointed this out, but i LOVE that yang started using her semblance in a really similiar way to how pyrrha did back at beacon! pyrrha would keep her semblance hidden in order to gain an advantage by catching opponents off guard, and yang does that now too!! yang has only used her semblance a handful of times since getting back on her feet in v4, to the point where in the ace ops fight part of why blake and yang beat vine and elm was that BY had knowledge on their semblances, but not the other way around!! its also super obvious in the adam fight, she intentionally conserves it. its really cool to see because pyrrha was considered a master fighter even as a student so its really satisfying to see team rwby meet and even surpass her skill level by learning new strategy!!

love the idea of post s6 house amputating his leg. like yes i adore the hilson in s8 even though it makes me wanna tear my eyes out in grief but in fic obviously he COULD have a happy ending in that i think he’d only amputate his leg to get wilson to agree to chemo and he and wilson would have a fight about wilson’s choice to die with dignity (but obv paralleling the pilot where house says we can live with dignity we can’t die with it) and how wilson doesn’t want to be stuck in a chemo suite, suffering and in pain, wanting to die and then house comes in with some variation of that speech he gave taub where he’s like “i’m in pain every day, wilson. i wake up in pain, i go to work in pain and sometimes i want to give up. i’ve thought about it so many times—just ending it. i feel like i’ve been wanting to die longer than I’ve been alive but i’m still here. i’m here because…” [insert a very meaningful pause as house looks away from wilson’s eyes] “because there are a few things worth living for.” then house catches wilson’s gaze again, heavy with meaning.

and then wilson dry-swallows and says, “house…” but nothing would come out.

house says, “if you do chemo, i’ll amputate my leg.”

and wilson startles! he’ll stammer and say something like, “house, what are you—it’s your leg!”

idk if they’re standing or sitting or smth but im imagining house rubbing his thigh or tapping his cane on the ground before saying, “i don’t want to be in pain anymore.” i don’t want to die anymore, goes unsaid. but.. BUT: “but i won’t do it unless you stop being a suicidal moron.”

“that’s not fair.”

“when has life ever been fair. i’m crippled and you got cancer. just do the damn chemo.”

a beat. “okay.”

“okay? really?”

wilson laughs. “what, you didn’t think your speech would work?”

house rubs his thigh again. “i was willing to do anything to get you to agree.” he lets some honesty bleed into his voice. “i’m not living without you, wilson.”

“all right, house,” wilson says. “you won’t have to.”
