Six Weeks and Stuffed Wombats
Week Three
Summary: Three weeks in and they reach another hurdle: they can’t make progress if Rosé is half asleep.
Author’s Note: In all honesty, I’ve mostly moved on from this fandom and I’m finding it really difficult to finish this. That being said I don’t want to leave it incomplete because I really did love this at one point, and it was going to be my favourite thing I would have written. I’ve got a chapter and a half to write, so I might pull something together within the next few months to tie it all off, but we’ll see.
Warnings: Themes of sexual harassment
Prologue Week One Week Two
The next week when Rosé walks into the room, Tamisha senses immediately that something is off. It’s not a particularly hot day but it’s not all that cold either. Certainly not cold enough to justify Rosé wearing a sweatshirt beneath her jacket and still seeming to shiver with heavy lines beneath her eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Tamisha asks worriedly after Rosé had only given her the slightest hint of a smile in greeting.
“Tired” is all she says to explain, her voice scratchy and faint.
“And that’s all?” Tamisha checks.
“Hmm” Rosé hums and blinks slowly.
“Up late for an assignment hand in or…” Tamisha trails off for Rosé to fill in the answer.
“Just couldn’t sleep.”
“Bad dreams again?”
Rosé nods, running a hand lazily down her face.
“How many?” Tamisha asks, picking up her notebook from the table between them.
“Just one” Rosé answers, her eyes barely staying off the floor long enough to look at her. “Then I couldn’t get back to sleep so… I just didn’t.”
“Did you write it down in your journal?”
Rosé shakes her head. “I don’t want you to know.”
“Rosé, I don’t judge you for anything” Tamisha promises. “Don’t you think it would help you if you shared it with someone else?”
After a few seconds and a few more slow blinks, Rosé nods. “It was about the family friend I told you about last week. He was staying over last night and…” Rosé trails off getting distracted before she regains focus. “I was in my bed, like usual, and I couldn’t move again…”
“Do you need a minute?” Tamisha offers kindly after she had trailed off again.
“No, no. It’s okay.” Rosé suddenly blinks and pushes herself up straighter on the couch. Pulling in a deep breath that turns into a yawn which she covers behind an arm. “Sorry… he, um… I had my back to him, and he just stared at me for a while before he moved over to sit on the edge of my bed.
“It was so vivid, like I could actually feel the mattress sink when he sat down, then when his hand started trailing up over the sheets. I woke up before his hand could reach my shoulder, but I couldn’t get back to sleep after that.”
Tamisha hums as she writes a few notes down. “Did you panic at all?”
“Not really. Just like… heart racing” Rosé considers.
“Did you try any of the breathing exercises from last week?” Tamisha asks.
“I tried for a bit, but they didn’t really work, and I gave up.”
“Could you figure out why that was? Was there some kind of distraction?” Tamisha offers a possible option.
“No, I just… every time I closed my eyes, I saw that same thing over and over again.”
“Too anxious?” Tamisha simplifies.
Rosé hums a confirmation as she leans against the arm of the couch, pinching the bridge of her nose with a faint wince.
“Rosé?” Tamisha worries.
“I’ve just got a bit of a headache” Rosé explains.
“You’re exhausted, aren’t you?”
Rosé hums again, sounding close to a whine.
“Okay” Tamisha says more so to herself as she stands from her chair and moves over to open a cupboard against the wall. “I’m going to let you sleep.”
“No, it’s okay. I can…” Rosé protests before her voice trails off.
“You can barely string a sentence together” Tamisha points out as she pulls a blanket out from the cupboard. “We’re not going to make any progress if you’re only half awake.”
Rosé opens her mouth like she wants to protest again but she can’t think of anything and closes it.
“We’ll reschedule this session. I think I’ve got a free space tomorrow we can move it to” Tamisha says.
“I’m sorry, this is a waste of your time” Rosé says as she’s prompted to lie down across the couch.
“Shh” Tamisha quells as she lays the blanket over her. “I’ll catch up on some paperwork. I’m not wasting any time. Just get some sleep.”
Rosé hums contently, already finding it harder to keep her eyes open.
Tamisha smiles warmly at her before she looks behind her to the stuffed wombat on the table. Then she reaches back to grab it and hands it over to Rosé, who smiles as she pulls it under the blanket with her.
“I’ll wake you up near the end of lunch so you can still get something to eat, okay?” Tamisha tells her.
Rosé nods back, finally letting her eyes slip closed. Soon falling asleep, cradling the stuffed wombat in her arms.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“You still look tired, sweetheart.” Tamisha frowns as Rosé walks in the next day.
“Oh no, I’m fine” Rosé assures as she sits down across from her, seeming at ease. “I just had a really complicated class before this.”
“What were you learning?” Tamisha inquires.
Rosé can’t help pulling a face before explaining about a complicated maths formula which somehow converts an equation into a squiggly line graph. “…then we’re supposed to be able to do it back the other way as well, and I just don’t get where I’m ever going to need to use it.”
“I doubt you will. By my age I only need the basic operations” Tamisha says.
“Can I drop out then?” Rosé smirks.
“If you want to talk about what you want to get out of your classes, you’ll have to schedule a different kind of appointment with me” Tamisha teases and Rosé scoffs a soft laugh before the subject is changed. “I have an exercise planned for today, but I want to ask you some questions first.”
Rosé hums for her to continue.
“From reading through your dream journal, a lot of it seems to centre around some sort of intimidation. Have you experienced situations in relation to that?”
“My dad doesn’t handle anger well. I just have to be careful with him sometimes” Rosé mentions.
“And what does he do that makes you intimidated by him?” Tamisha prompts.
“He just yells and becomes unreasonable.” Rosé shrugs. “It’s hard to calm him down when he doesn’t listen.”
“Anything more?” Tamisha asks.
Rosé shakes her head, and she gets the sense that Tamisha knows she is still withholding things. Though for now she doesn’t push it and moves along.
“There is also a theme of sexualisation” Tamisha adds.
“I think you’d find it hard to find someone my age who hasn’t been” Rosé answers vaguely.
“Can you expand on that?” Tamisha prompts.
“You work here. Surely you’ve heard what guys say about girls every day” Rosé points out. “They start rumours that they had sex with a girl they’ve never talked to in the parking lot. Some of us get smacked on the ass by boys thinking it’s just a joke. One time I got catcalled three times by three different groups just walking across the Quad.”
“I do know about that” Tamisha admits solemnly. “But in your journal none of those people are kids, Rosé. They’re all adults - one in particular.”
“Well, I mean, yeah.” Rosé looks away, shifting uncomfortably. “Because I expect it from people my age, because they’re all idiots.”
“Can you tell me more about this family friend?” Tamisha requests, reenforcing the topic change. “Has he done anything towards you?”
Rosé chokes on words in the back of her throat, and she cuts sound off. Reaching forward to pick up the stuffed wombat from the table and holding it for comfort before she tries speaking again. “He makes comments here and there” she says, stroking her thumbs into the toy’s fur.
“Nothing more?” Tamisha prompts gently.
“He tries to hold my hand sometimes… but it’s the way he stares at me when he thinks I’m not looking.”
“Has he ever tried to enact anything more provocative with you?” Tamisha words carefully.
“If we sit beside each other he’ll put his hand on my leg, but nothing more than that.”
“Rosé, if something more has happened, know that it’s not your fault—”
“No, no, it’s fine. He hasn’t done anything else. I promise” Rosé speaks honestly. “It’s just…” she trails off, looking up and taking a deep breath before blinking a few times. “It just feels like I’m waiting.”
“Waiting for him to do something more?” Tamisha asks.
Rosé nods.
“And that’s why he is on your mind a lot?” Tamisha guesses.
Rosé nods again. “And I can’t sleep when he’s around. Because what if that is the night?” She swallows deeply, fighting against her voice choking up. “Sometimes, when I wake up, I think that maybe it really happened and that was it. I don’t have to wait anymore.”
Tamisha hums and offers Rosé a sad smile before seeming to stall the conversation. Frowning down at her page and leaving them in silence for a few seconds until she speaks again. “Sweetheart, I’m so sorry to have to ask you this” she begins, “but does some part of you want it to happen? So that waiting feeling can be over.”
Rosé shakes her head. “I just want to stop thinking about it.”
“Okay, let’s talk through it and see if we can help you with that” Tamisha introduces. “Do you find yourself most anxious about nightmares when you are in them or afterward?”
“Afterward” Rosé answers.
“And why is that?”
“It’s just… they’re basically a bunch of what if situations really” Rosé considers. “Some of them are farfetched, but the worst ones are grounded in some kind of realism.”
“So, you’re scared that those same things could happen to you?”
Rosé nods.
“But the variables are different aren’t they?” Tamisha raises. “You’ve said before that in your dreams you can’t move, but you can move while you’re awake, can’t you?”
Rosé nods.
“Can you speak in your dreams?”
“I don’t know. I just kind of figured that no one would hear me.”
“But people would hear you in the real world, wouldn’t they?”
“I guess” Rosé answers although she knows that it is dependent on whether people would listen.
“Do you see what I’m getting at?” Tamisha asks and Rosé nods. “You’re more capable and rational when you are awake. Try to use those skills to rewrite the events of your dreams and they shouldn’t worry you as much.”
“Like invalidate them?” Rosé checks.
“Exactly.” Tamisha smiles at her. “And then over time, hopefully you’ll sleep better.”

What are your Drag Race hot takes? Your most controversial opinions?
That moment when I actually have so many hot takes but as soon as I got this ask suddenly I've forgotten them all... Took me a minute to remember some ogeruig I'll probably get hate for some of these since imma bring up some fan-faves, also these mostly have to do with the recent American seasons
The first one I could think of: the finale lipsync for the crown should have the queens all in a leotard or something basic. I'm tired of the reveals we can see coming from a mile away, I wanna see a good ol' lipsync
Jackie and/or Heidi should've won the Worlds Worst challenge [the one where Gigi was also in it and they were playing the Del Rio trio] rather than she who shall not be named.. she wasn't even funny or memorable in the challenge
Bob is the best winner imo
S13 was actually a good season but people were hating on it because of the first episode which was shitty and out of the queens control. Additionally, it aired the same time UK2 did and while I admit that season was good, people kept comparing the two and favoring one over the other and hating so much on s13
Kandy was right in the untucked fight with Tamisha. tbh she didn't do anything wrong in saying that Symone was her toughest competition bc by that point she'd won 2 challenges, it's not like she insulted the other girls and said 'fuck the rest of ya'll '
I'm glad Daya did say/call out that skinnier/little queens have it easier when it comes to their outfits and getting away with a lot more than people that don't have that body type
People hate on/criticize Jorgeous for winning that design challenge/the favoritism she gets from Ru that's completely out of her control and for doing bad in the challenges but... another queen that isnt even doing well is Jasmine too.. she's been in the bottom 2 more than Jorgeous has but I see people talk worse about Jorgeous.. idk..
Bosco's nun/succubus look wasn't that good
This isn't just a drag race hot take but a drag one in general, I rather go watch a queen that doesn't look as polished but puts on a fucking show and entertains rather than a queen that just looks pretty/polished and boring to watch
Tina's runway looks were bad but she didn't necessarily do bad in challenges, she didn't stand out either but she shouldn't have gotten as much hate as she did [i dont condone sending hate to anyone ofc, 'fans' who do that are horrible]
As much as I love Denali and Rosé, I'm glad neither of them won. Also made me super upset to hear from Kandy that in the end she didn't wanna win because of the amount of hate she knew she'd get if she did
This isn't a show hot take but a fic one, I dont like it when Mik is called GottMik throughout a fic... also don't like when Mik's written as a trans girl.. esp if Mik isn't even in one of the ships if it's a writer that prefers writing lesbian/wlw ships, just write him as a trans man if he's gonna be a background character.. in real life u dont only know women so why does your fic have to be a full woman cast???

buddie have u been watching UK v The World? thots on that and/or S14?? (I've got my faves on each but don't wanna put in the ask in case it might be spoilery since it's technically mid-season for both)
Hi!! I've been watching both and I DEFINITELY have thoughts but I've been lazy about expressing them here more than vaguely. I have time, so let's get into it :) Sticking it behind a read more obviously due to spoilers!
OK, UK vs the World first....before it started I wanted Lemon to win...well lol, back to the drawing board I guess. (for the record I think her being in the bottom was BS, but I am biased, so...)
As of now I'm pulling hard for Pangina, I love her, she's a gem. Please don't send her home anytime soon, y'all...
I just want Baga to go home, tbh - I don't have a problem with anyone else but her. I remember on her season, I thought she was funny....now I'm wondering why I thought that. The "Oh, it's totally ok for me to pay someone from a foreign country to do my work for me" thing was...really super cringe to me.
I'm wondering if Jujubee is playing the long game or what? (not that the show is too long, but you know...) I love her, I don't want her to go home but I feel like it might happen soon (no, I haven't read any spoilers for today yet so IDK who goes home this week lol we watch it at 9 PM on Tuesdays).
Mo has been stunning (obligatory to use that word for her, hello) and I hope she finishes high!
The only UK girl I was really pulling for was Cheryl and now she's gone too :( (nothing against Blu, I just wasn't actively rooting for her)
I didn't watch any of the Holland seasons so I hadn't seen Janey before, but....idk. She's beautiful! But the attitude...I dunno.
And Jimbo is...well, Jimbo is Jimbo. I never know what to expect, lol.
As for S14....ok! I have ✨opinions✨I don't completely understand the "send people home the first two episodes and then bring them back" concept but whatever... I get wanting to show everyone off in smaller groups, though.
I'm not doing the greatest with my favorites! I love Alyssa, she's gone, I love Kornbread, she's out, I love Maddy, she's gone too...I hate to ask who's next, lol (also I would never ask because I hate spoilers!! Thanks to the person who replied to Maddy's Instagram post and let me know a week ahead that she would be going home, ugh.)
Willow is my absolute favorite though and I feel like she really has a good chance of winning! Angeria is amazing too and I'll support anyone from my state (well...except for Tamisha Iman last season...anyway) so I hope she keeps up the pace she's at! She's amazing.
I like Daya (more than her sister...sorry, unpopular opinion, I know) but I don't get getting upset because you asked for critique and got it??? I completely understand wanting to hear some critique if you're safe a lot, but don't be upset when you don't hear what you want to hear.
Still baffled that Lady Camden didn't win the challenge this past week because her look was gorgeous! And she sold it so well in my opinion! I like Jorgeous but I wouldn't have picked her as the winner.
I don't get why things got so...whatever between Maddy and Jasmine on Untucked, but it appeased the people who hate when the girls get along, so good for them I guess 😐
I know there's more I could talk about but my brain is fried from all that thinking, lol! We'll see how much of this is invalid after watching UK vs the World tonight...

ok so, ik this is a t&k account and i get tired of all the drama but i have to talk about the bob & Monet vs everyone it seems??
Bob & Monet if you didn’t know did a show like pit stop but without the restraints of being too harsh. Imo they were fine, cracked some jokes etc. Its bob & monet what can you expect? Anyways. They, Imo, weren’t that mean or harsh & Tamisha is taking this. WAY too far. Its now gotten other queens involved like Vixen defending Tamisha and calling Bob & Monet bootlickers and shit. Even though all Bob / Monet does is defend her? I love Vixen to but wtf like lol if anyone want’s receipts or anything lemme know.

tbh i'd say S13 is most attractive like EVERYONE is hot except tina and tamisha sorry. (but also idk they have a certain distinguised charm idk). and elliott obviously but for personality not looks. like denali, mik, symone, rose, kahmora, joey, kandy, lala, utica, olivia are all lookers. S14 is most attractive for me because i'm a huge lesbian (but there's a lot of just perfectly okay men as well)
ok that’s a good point too

Ohh this sounds exciting! Thank you @buffyathena for tagging me!
Don’t know who else to tag, so this is an open invitation for anyone to join in.
share the premise (as much or as little as you'd like) of the wip that's been haunting you the most recently
share the last line of your latest wip
ctrl + f for any of these words: hand, gold, bed, brown, money, tea, smile, water. if any of those are in your wip, share those sentences too!
1. The WIP that has been haunting me for almost a year now is Six Weeks and Stuffed Wombats. It’s a part of the Safe House AU and centres on Rosé being forced to get help from the school councillor, and slowly coming to terms with the fact that she needs it.
2. Sorry, I’m going to opt out of this one because the last line spoils the ending and I want it kept secret.
3. Apparently I really like talking about hands and smiling, so I just maxed everything out at three.
Hand:
Rosé immediately pulls in a breath, but Chamilla squeezes a hand against her arm before she can interrupt.
“But I’m not now, am I?” Rosé can’t help her voice raising and the hand she throws in the air.
“It isn’t your fault” Rosé repeats, sinking her head down into her spare hand. “Im sorry, I just got thrown. I was probably just looking for a fight.”
Bed:
“Are you ready for bed?”
Then there is the creaking of mattress springs as Rosé settles in bed.
Smile:
“Scared.” Rosé’s smile drops before she adds more quietly, “helpless.”
“What’s wrong?” Tamisha asks worriedly after Rosé had only given her the slightest hint of a smile in greeting.
A small smile breaks across Rosé’s lips at the sight of tiny colourful marshmallows floating in the mug.

Galactica, Chapter 66 (Group Fic) - TheDane/Veronica
A/N: Click here if you’re looking for previous chapters (or here if you’d rather read on AO3). 💫
Last Chapter: Katya decided that parenthood might be in the cards after all, Pearl couldn’t get Dahlia out of her head, and Violet worried that Sutan’s friends would never be able to respect her.
This Chapter: Brunches, presents, an announcement, a trip to the champagne room, and a new hire.
***
Sutan opened the door to his apartment, a smile blooming on his face at the fact that the light was still on, which meant Violet hadn’t gone to bed yet.
It was after 8, Sutan spending the day with Gigi and then going to a Christmas reception in the evening with Tamisha, his boss pleading with him to please come with her and make sure no one she hated talked to her, Sutan guarding her for the entire cocktail hour.
“Violet?” Sutan called out, hanging his jacket up and toeing his shoes off.
“Bathroom!”
Sutan walked through the apartment, the door to the bathroom open. Violet was standing at the sink, her fingers braiding her hair into French braids.
“Hey,” Violet smiled and gave him a quick kiss, her lips tasting faintly like sugary lip scrub. “I didn’t know if you’d be home, but I got dinner for you too.”
“What are we having?” Sutan leaned against the sink, watching Violet who unscrewed the lid on one of her face creams, scooping out a dollop and rubbing it into her skin.
“Lentil soup.”
“Yum.” Sutan drawled, his tone bone dry.
It wasn’t that he hated lentil soup, but he’d never understand why Violet ate it voluntarily when the entirety of Manhattan's takeaway options were open to her.
“Don’t act like that,” Violet huffed, holding up her hand with a bit of leftover face moisturizer, silently asking him if he wanted it and Sutan nodded, Violet’s fingers gliding over his cheek seconds later. “It’s good for you.”
“Do I at least get bread this time?” Sutan had to bite his lip not to smile, Violet looking at him like he had grown a second head when he had complained about the distinct lack of bread on his plate the last time she had ordered dinner.
“Yes,” Violet rolled her eyes, but she continued rubbing in tiny circles, even dipping her fingers again to make sure she had enough to cover his entire face.
“Lucky me,” Sutan wasn’t sure if he was talking about the bread, or about the strange little things Violet always tended to do for him, this little traditions of theirs starting in Paris when Violet had needed to get rid of some extra hand moisturiser and had ended up massaging it into his skin.
“Did you have a good day?” Violet ran a finger down his nose, the pressure weirdly comforting, her never ending attention to detail carrying into this as well, the finishing tap on his nose a sign that she was done.
“Very good.” Sutan smiled as he watched Violet wipe her hands, her bedtime routine done for now even though she was still in her work clothes. “Been all over the city. Shopping, dinner, the whole shebang since I’m training a new model.”
“Great.”
Violet wasn’t fully paying attention because she had already heard of days like that before, instead grabbing her crutches to get to the kitchen, but Sutan didn’t mind.
In past relationships, he would have been interrogated if he had said he had spent the day with a model, Kahmora in particular, always keeping an eye on him.
He hadn’t thought much of it then, hadn’t even considered that there could be anything wrong with it, after all, it showed that they cared, but he had to admit that it felt amazing that Violet trusted him to do his job and just his job.
“I put your soup in the fridge,” Violet made her way to the kitchen table, sitting down to keep him company while he ate his dinner. “Sorry that it’s cold.”
“I don’t mind,” Sutan pressed a quick kiss to her temple, walking over to the fridge. “Oh. Speaking of.” Sutan looked over his shoulder. “I got you something.”
“You did?”
“It’s on the table.” Sutan grabbed the container of soup, an order of bread lying untouched on the counter. “White plastic bag!”
Just like with the ring dish, Sutan hadn’t actually realised how often he just dumped his stuff on his kitchen table, the quick pitstop he had taken at home to change into evening wear just enough time to add to the ever growing pile that Violet patiently stacked against the wall every single day.
Sutan dumped the soup into a bowl, opening the cabinet that hid the microwave to pop it in.
“Sutan… What…” Sutan turned around, looking at Violet who was holding the iPhone 6 box he had picked up at the Apple store. “What’s this?”
“A phone?” He leaned against the counter, the microwave humming away. “I’m sure you’ve seen one before.”
“I understand that it’s a phone, but why are you giving this to me?”
Sutan paused, that question not at all the one he had expected. He was thankfully saved by a ding, the microwave telling him that his food was ready so he had time to think.
“Well, isn’t it obvious? They had the newest model in stock,” Sutan took his bowl, grabbing a spoon before he walked over to the table, Violet’s brown eyes following his every step. “And your phone is barely working.”
“I don’t think-” Violet pursed her lips, clearly swallowing her words. “I can buy my own phone.”
Sutan smiled. Of course. He should have seen it coming. You wouldn’t know it just looking at Violet, his girlfriend so prim and proper from the outside, but she was adorably non-materialistic if it didn’t concern clothes.
“You could, but you haven’t, and I happened to be at the Apple store.”
“I-” Violet looked at him, her brown eyes searching his face. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome lovely eyes,” Sutan captured her healthy foot under the table, holding it between his own. “I’m here for whatever you need.”
***
Bianca picked up the French press and poured herself a second cup of coffee, inhaling the fragrance as she lifted it to her lips. She and Courtney had been in bed all morning, but finally decided to wander downstairs for a very late breakfast.
She looked up to where Courtney stood at the stove, concocting some kind of tofu scramble.
“How’s it going over there?”
Courtney had insisted it was one of the few things she knew how to cook, happily chopping tomatoes, zucchini, shallots, and pretty much every other vegetable Bianca had on hand before dumping it all in a sizzling wok. Bianca was frankly unconvinced that she knew what she was doing, but told herself she’d eat it regardless.
“It’s great! Almost done!” Courtney chirped, adding what Bianca noted was a respectable amount of hot sauce for a white girl.
“Sounds great,” Bianca said, opening a cabinet to grab some plates.
“It’s so nice having a stove,” Courtney commented. She said it in a breezy, offhanded way, but it gave Bianca pause, turning towards her with a furrowed brow.
“You don’t have a stove?”
Courtney bit her lip, suddenly embarrassed, and explained, “Well, my place is a studio, and...uh, there’s not like a full kitchen.”
Bianca nodded, doing her best to keep the judgment off her face. No stove meant that whatever place Courtney was renting was not a real studio, and likely an illegal sublet. She shuddered to think of all the potential safety violations in that kind of set-up. Nevertheless, she decided to drop the subject, putting the plates down and slipping an arm around Courtney’s waist, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
“Thank you for making breakfast, baby.”
“Anytime…” Courtney gave the pan another stir with a wooden spatula before leaning back against Bianca, letting her hold her even tighter.
“So listen...I, uh...have a proposal for you.”
“Oh?” Courtney tilted her head back, one eyebrow raised.
“Yeah, so, there’s this big fucking board meeting scheduled for January 6th, so I’m probably gonna stay in town over the holidays. I was thinking that maybe you could stay here, while Galactica’s shut down. With, uh, full stove access. Would you like that?”
Courtney whirled around, her beautiful face beaming, throwing her arms around Bianca’s neck and exclaiming, “I’d love it!”
Bianca leaned forward to capture her lips in a gentle kiss which soon grew deeper as Courtney arched against her, backing her up against the island. Bianca smiled against her mouth, unable to stop the dimples from piercing through as she thought about how lucky she was.
They stayed like that, blissfully wrapped in each other, until Bianca lifted her head to ask, “Is something burning?”
“Shit!”
***
“Mmh,” Trixie had to bite down a moan, his mouthful of waffles and bacon like an explosion of flavor. “Holy shit!”
“So?” Katya grinned, looking at him with her blue eyes. “Are they up to the standard?”
Their entire Sunday brunch crew, and even Violet, was gathered in their living room, Katya cooking for everyone, the table stacked with hearty and filling winter recipes like ginger and peach pudding, spiced sweet potatoes, apple pancakes and baked chickpeas.
“They’re amazing!” Trixie smiled, shoving another forkful down, the salt and the syrup perfect together.
“Awh thanks sugar butt,” Katya pressed a kiss against his cheek, which made Kim produce a retching noise.
“Take it to the bedroom you two!” Kim threw her napkin at them, which made Shangela snort and Ivy giggle.
“Be careful what you wish for Kimmie,” Pearl drawled, a stack of apple pancakes largely untouched on her plate, “because you really don’t want them to take it to the bedroom.”
“Everyone,” Max rolled his eyes, even though he was still smiling and Trixie snorted, a sense of pride welling up in his chest at Pearl’s words.
Sure, he and Katya had a tendency to be loud, but how could he not when Katya was the hottest woman alive, her innovation, commands and demands in the bedroom so fun and rewarding to follow.
“Actually,” Katya sat up straight, Trixie mourning the loss of her heat for a moment, until he recognized the serious expression on her beautiful face. “Trixie and I have an announcement.”
Everyone grew quiet, all watching them as Katya stood up.
“I’m pregnant...and we’re keeping it.”
At once, the table erupted in cheers, Ivy hopping up off the chair she was sitting on to go hug Katya, while Pearl made a beeline for the kitchen, yelling over her shoulder that she was getting the champagne.
“Congratulations!” Violet smiled, her hands clasped together. “That’s amazing!”
“It is,” Trixie smiled, warm happiness filling his entire body as he watched Katya laugh, Shangela joining in on the hug.
“Mama! I can’t believe you're gonna be a Mama!” Shangela grinned, holding Katya’s elbow and shaking her. “I thought you were completely set on never having kiddos?”
“I thought I was, but-” Katya looked at Trixie, their eyes meeting across the table. “It happened and, I mean. What’s the worst case scenario? That we fuck up and they become a serial killer?”
“Shit, that would be fucked up,” Kim snorted, her eyes widening. “Not that killer isn’t a cool name.”
“Now that’d be something!” Pearl grinned, returning to the living room with a bottle of champagne and several glasses, the stems between her fingers. She bent down, pressing her cheek against Katya’s stomach. “Hi Killer! We can’t wait to meet you!”
“Pearl!” Trixie swatted his best friend's shoulder, but Katya was laughing, holding Pearl’s head and pressing it against her stomach, and while Trixie seriously hoped his child wouldn’t become a serial killer, he had to admit that it was a little bit funny.
“Seriously,” Shangela looked around. “All y’all need Jesus. Stat.”

“Courtney,” Tyra said, rapping on the glass jewelry case to get her attention. “Courtney…”
“Court!” Morgan cut in sharply, and at that she finally looked up.
“You ready to take a break?” Tyra asked. “There’s a pho place right around the corner that we could try.”
“Oh, uh...yeah, just give me a couple of minutes.”
Tyra exchanged a put-upon look with Morgan, who returned her look with an exaggerated eye roll. When they’d suggested meeting up, neither of them were anticipating following Courtney around as she scoured antique stores to find the perfect Christmas present for Bianca.
She’d already found a huge book of 1960s fashion photography, as well as a vintage Hermes scarf, but apparently that wasn’t enough for her precious girlfriend. And worse, she’d been talking about nothing except Bianca all afternoon.
Tyra didn’t care if Courtney was gay or bi or whatever, but this slavish devotion to her brand new relationship was extremely tedious, and it made Tyra long for the days when Courtney would date men whose names she forgot three days later.
“Ooh, look at these!” Courtney exclaimed, pointing to a pair of earrings. “Aren’t they beautiful?!”
“Nice,” Morgan said, barely looking up from her phone.
They were nice. As annoyed as Tyra was, she had to admit that. They looked like brass, cut into art deco shapes and adorned with garnets, exactly the right style for Bianca, at least from what Tyra could tell from seeing her on TV.
“Excuse me,” Courtney asked the sales clerk, “How much are these earrings here? I can’t see the price tag.”
The clerk took a key and opened the case, pulling out the earrings to examine the price tag before declaring, “$279.”
Morgan whistled softly under her breath and the clerk raised one eyebrow, just barely but enough to be noticed.
“Shall I ring them up for you?” he asked drily, clearly expecting her to say no, already moving to put the earrings back into the case.
“Um…” Courtney bit her lip, fingertips resting on the edge of the glass.
“Court, you’re not seriously gonna spend that much are you?” Tyra asked, appalled. She’d seen Courtney’s apartment. That girl did not have a damn penny to spare.
“Yeah, she knows you’re poor, there’s no way she’s expecting some expensive gift,” Morgan added.
“No, I know, but…” Courtney squared her shoulders and looked at the sales clerk, saying, “I’ll take them.”
Tyra looked at Morgan behind her back, scandalized, shaking her head. Morgan smothered a laugh with her hand and gave a little shrug as if to say, ‘It’s her credit card debt.’

Pearl was back at the club again. At 4 pm on a Sunday. Which was totally normal, right?
Right.
She sighed slightly, swirling the whiskey in her glass, unable to hear the clink of ice cubes over the pounding bass. She should definitely leave, she knew that, and told herself that she would… She wasn’t going to say that she was obsessed, wasn’t going to give in to the fact that she couldn’t stop thinking about Dahlia, but she was leaning on the side of pathetic, and if there was one thing Pearl Liaison didn’t do, it was pathetic.
She probably had to rethink that though, as she handed one of the managers 200 dollars in cash, the man taking her to a small enclosed room, a heavy red curtain blocking out the rest of the club.
Her stripper alias was “Sin,” which was both absurdly simple and painfully fitting, Pearl drawn to her dangerous beauty like a spell, hungry for even the smallest taste of her.
Pearl tapped her fingers against her thigh, her lip between her teeth, when she heard a voice come from the doorway.
“Well well well,” Dahlia smirked, pushing the curtain aside. “Look who’s back.”
Pearl felt her heart skip a beat as Dahlia gave her a slow once-over, her bedroom eyes even sexier when she was so close. Today’s outfit was a sinful (fitting) red set, a garter belt digging into Dahlia’s soft tan skin.
“Mmmh.” Pearl tried to keep her face blank and expressionless, tried desperately to hang onto the last bit of control, but she couldn’t stop her heart from speeding up as Dahlia made her way across the room, her palms getting sweaty as she swayed her hips to the music.
“So,” Dahlia smiled, swinging a leg over Pearl’s lap. “You know the rules right?”
She smelled like peaches, and Pearl had to dig her fingers into the velvet of the couch she was sitting on.
“No touching,” Dahlia reminded her, full lips twisted into a smirk.
“I’ve never been a fan of rules.”
“Good thing that isn’t up to you then,” Dahlia sat down, and Pearl had to bite back a groan as she took her weight, the woman an insane tease. “Promise me that you’ll be good?” Dahlia tilted her head, her lips slightly separated, “or I promise you that a bouncer will kick your ass to the curb.”
“Shit, right, right.” Pearl nodded, and Dahlia grinned.
“Good girl.”
Pearl swallowed. Dahlia reached out, grabbing a remote from behind Pearl, a small speaker inside their room powering up, and Pearl was in heaven as she began to move.
To call it a dance would be generous, but Pearl didn’t care. She was mesmerized by her curves, watching her with rapt attention as she swayed her hips, bent down to slowly unhook the garters, leaving them dangling. Dahlia was sin personified, her bra holding her perfect tits in place, the promise of hard nipples just underneath the lace.
Dahlia turned around, and Pearl knew instantly that she worked out, her ass round and firm, the kind of deliciousness that only came from discipline and hard work. A quick motion and her bra was now unhooked. She let the straps slide off her shoulders, finally dropping the bra on the ground.
“Turn around,” Pearl whined, unable to help herself, and Dahlia looked back over her shoulder, dark eyes flashing with amusement.
“You really want it, huh?” she asked, and Pearl nodded vigorously.
“Uh huh.”
Dahlia turned back slowly, hands demurely covering her chest, lashes fluttering.
“Please…”
She kneeled on the couch, straddling Pearl’s thighs before removing her hands, arching up forward to display her glorious tits, brown nipples hard and so, so close.
Pearl bit back a whimper, and Dahlia began to roll her hips slowly, inching closer and closer until her perfect mouth was right up against Pearl’s ear.
“What are you thinking about, baby?”
“How much I hate rules,” slipped out of Pearl’s mouth before she thought better of it, and Dahlia laughed.
“Poor thing...” Dahlia clucked, taking Pearl’s hand from the arm of the sofa and inching it towards her body. First her thigh, skating her fingertips higher and higher up her beautiful tan skin, flashing the naughtiest smile as she got closer to her lace, barely-there panties.
Pearl’s chest heaved, and Dahlia laughed, right in her face, redirecting her hand higher and higher, palm very nearly brushing against one of her pert nipples, finally letting it rest on her bare shoulder as Dahlia ran her own fingers teasingly across Pearl’s.
She arched forward again, those incredible tits grazing Pearl’s own chest. Pearl squirmed painfully on the sofa as Dahlia body-rolled against her, not daring to move her hand from where it was placed, fingers digging into the smooth skin.
She was close, could feel herself on the edge, and orgasm so close just from this, and then suddenly the song had ended, and Dahlia hopped up off her lap, re-clipping her garters, picking up her bra from the floor.
Pearl tried one last hail Mary, hoarsely saying, “Give me your number.”
Dahlia laughed, shaking her head. “No way. This...this is business.” She gestured to the room around them. “That would be...not. And anyway, what would your girlfriend say?”
“She-” Pearl swallowed. “We broke up.”
“Do you think I’m stupid?”
“We did!” Pearl sputtered. “It’s true.”
“Yeah, well, even so...you do know I’m her friend, right?” Dahlia asked pointedly.
“Well…”
“Exactly,” Dahlia said, shaking her head again. “You’re asking for trouble.”
“I want to see you again,” Pearl said.
“You can see me anytime,” she said sweetly, adding pointedly, “As long as you bring cash,” before leaving, shutting the curtain behind her.
Pearl let her head drop back against the sofa, a deep sigh leaving her. Fuck.
***
“So,” Trixie tried not to tap his fingers or look at himself as he watched his computer screen, Skype pulled up.
Trixie didn’t like doing job interviews, the process tedious and draining each and every time, living up to Fame’s expectations and wishes difficult on a good day.
Interviews, however, were especially draining when it happened digitally, trying to act natural hard enough on its own when on screen, but as the manager and department head, it was his responsibility to feel out potential hires, to figure out if they’d fit with his team or not, but he had a decent feeling with this one.
“Are you interested?”
“Fuck yes!”
Trixie had to hide a grin, Aurora practically beaming through the screen. She was very pretty with tan skin, white blonde hair and full brows, the striped shirt she was wearing fashionable and fun.
Aurora had an impressive portfolio, her references were decent, and most importantly, she seemed like someone Fame could be impressed with if given time and guidance.
“Oh fuck-” Aurora grimaced, the enthusiasm gone for a second before she recovered, trying to play it cool. “I mean yes. Yes I’d love that.”
“Great.” This time, Trixie couldn’t hold back the laugh, Aurora probably fitting right into his department if she could keep the attitude in check.
“Our legal department will take care of your visa,” Trixie jotted down that he’d have to talk to Rita, work permits always a massive pain in the ass, “but you’re starting January 10 either way, and hopefully you won’t have to work remotely for long.”

Lemme get heated for a moment, ok? Now, before I pop off, the criticism isn't directed towards the queens cause I genuinely enjoy most of them on TV and irl. I say most of them because some have shown to be shitty people but that is a conversation for another time since it touches on serious issues such as racism and transphobia. This is just opinions on a show that shouldn't get me raging but somehow still does and I hate that a tv show can make me this mad. What we see on TV is a curated image on which we can not base a proper opinion about the work/personality of the queens. Why? Because for what they have to do on the show, in a highly stressful environment, cut off from their regular support system (all of which definitely plays with their emotional state in that time and affects their behaviour), they would most probably take a lot more time to plan out, rehearse, touch up, perfect etc. in real life and not everyone is a jack of all trades which the show wants them to be all the time or else they fail... My critique is directed towards the format and the judging/bias/favouritism/clear dislike of some queens and so on.
Now, on to me snapping
I know a large part of the rpdr fanbase (a part, not all) doesn't know what a queen does or what kind of performer they are before they appear on TV which is understandable cause you can't keep up with an infinite amount of drag performers and go to everyone's show but god damn anyone who's been to a Joe Black show knows what kind of performer and star Joe is. I'm angry they brought him back just to shit on him again when he is arguably one of the biggest and most respected drag performers in the UK. Same goes for Ginny, same goes for Divina. Name dropping cause the lack of understanding for their drag/dislike towards them really showed. In UK season one Divina literally turned look after look each week stepping massively out of her comfort zone since she isn't a look queen and they had the audacity to call her runways "questionable" but praised some very much safer, simpler runways ???? Joe's first elimination was pure bullshit and he definitely didn't deserve to be in the bottom and I will forever be pissed about it!! While this performance wasn't stellar it wasn't completely shit either. The United Kingdolls were fantastic, don't get me wrong, but Bananadrama gave me, someone who lives for Eurovision, more of an early and 2000-2007 era Eurovision vibe where it literally was just a few people in simple/low budget campy outfits awkward dancing on a stage and that is what I took it to be. Graham's comment that they weren't cohesive in looks doesn't hold. At least they were all in a shade of pink and a dress/skirt (and yeah Joe's dress was simple as hell but it still looked right in regard how they chose to look as a group. Astina won a challenge in an ASOS jacket and shorts. This is no shade to Astina and her runway look but a call out of hypocrisy and the rage fit over H&M was unnecessary) while the other group had each of them in a different, for lack of better wording, character. Tia shouldn't have been bottom 2, just sayin. They praised her, she stepped it up in her own terms (and everyone steps it up to their own possibilities and vision). Seems like they just really enjoy seeing Tia lip synch.
I feel like this year gave us some of the best queens in a while but the shitties judging in years. And not just on UK but US too.
No one is calling Tina Ronald McDonald Burner out for constantly looking like ketchup and mustard but every other queen with a signature thing is asked by second episode to show something else cause they want to see vErSaTiLiTy. I mean, bitch found a way to incorporate red, orange and yellow on a little black dress runway ?????!!????!??!? While I adore the hell out of Gottmik, she was safe last week solo for the look and being fan favourite. And so the show could play on that no longer existent Tamisha/Kandy drama and make them lip synch against each other. They bashed Tamisha for having a too simple dress but Olivia got away with an even simpler dress cause they liked the hair ?????
Denali and Rosé had the hardest choreography, which they executed perfectly, and Denali for me, beside Mik, had the best look of the week and both her and Rosé were just safe???? Yeah, Rosé didn't have the best runway look but it was miles better than what Tina, who was in the top, did and those two should have been in the top too. And omg Tina's hair choice... *insert Jimbo's rant about Rita's wig here*
In conclusion, the queens deserve to be judged properly and fairly because they are all great but the predetermined choices and favouritism is showing a whole fucking lot. Not only is it bothering for viewers but it ends up being bad for the queens too because people will start disliking them for being favoured and that's just sad. They did nothing wrong and don't choose how they will be treated/portrayed on the show. It's just production fucking them over while trying to push them to success on the show.

Rupaul’s DragRace season 13 is almost here and I want to give my opinion on the queens based only on the promos and meet the queens. (Everything I am about to say is just my opinion and doesn’t have to be taken seriously. For no reason I want to discredit the work of any queen because all of them are fierce entertainers that have to be respected by all the public that watches the show). Normally my opinion of the queens based on the promos is not so far from what ends up happening in the show.(I want to apologize if my English is not that good, it is my second language and many times I don't know how to transmit my ideas very well).
I want to start with my top 4. Last season three of the four queens in my top ended up being the final three, only leaving Sakura out of the top. This season my top 4 are:

GottMik, Symone, Utica and Rosé.
I want to start with GottMik and Symone. From my top 4 (if I had to cut it to a top 2) they would be my front runners.
GottMik
GottMik's aesthetic in the promo stands out (which is something that almost all the winners have) she is very high couture mix with fantasy and sci-fi cinematography, his personality is interesting and somewhat enigmatic, his makeup is 100/10 the best in the promo and he is the first trans man to compete (it is important highlight the visibility of our trans brothers and sisters in the LGBT+ community).
Symone
Symone's aesthetic stands out a lot from the other participants (As Nina Bonina Brown said: Symone is serving us black girl high fashion couture). Her personality (in the promos) is one of the brightest among all personalities. With Symone it happens to me (and I don't know if it happens to you when you see someone) that I see her and it is one of those people that I immediately say: This person is a star, she was born to shine. And we also always have to remember the incredible visibility of poc in the LGBT+ community that queens like Symone bring.
Utica Queen
From Utica I also want to highlight her aesthetic (that outfit with the 3 hats gives me life). Her personality (based on the promos) is like a ray of sunshine that illuminates everyone's day. It is seen that she is an interesting and alternative queen with a very strong creative spirit. And always in all seasons these “kooky/weirdos” queens have a special place in my heart.
Rosé
I don't have much to say about Rosé, she gives me this vibe of a new york queen like Bianca Del Rio, Bob The Drag Queen and Aquaria (what I mean is that she gives me a vibe of a queen that is very talented in many areas) and her look is very blondie meets Barbie and the rockers, which is a concept that I am always here for.
Now I want to talk about the queens that are not in my top 4 for some reason but I am sure that they may surprise me and that I think they can do well in the competition, which are:

Tina Burner, Kandy Muse, Tamisha Iman, Lala Ri, Denali and Olivia Lux.
Tina Burner
Tina Burner looks like she's a talented queen, but something doesn't quite convince me. She reminds me a lot of Nina West but I don't feel that warmth and sweetness that Nina exudes. Her look is not one of my favorites (but hey, she said in the meet the queens that her taste is questionable, and I liked that). I think she's going to do very well in the snatch game and in the acting challenges, and also, she have a great personality. I hope to be surprised by Tina this season.
Kandy Muse
One of the hardest things about competing in DragRace is being part of a family that has already participated in the show. Aja (Kandy's mother) is one of the queens with a strong personality that has participated in the most recent seasons. Dahlia (kandy's sister), although she was the first eliminated, appeared in all episodes of the season. Kandy's look is very good, and although I think the judges are going to demand a lot of personality from her (comparing her to Aja) I'm sure that Kandy has personality to spare, I also think that it is very possible that she is part of the top 4 this season. The reason I didn't put her in my top is merely personal taste, normally queens who describe themselves as "loud" are not my personal liking (like Eureka or Silky). But I am sure that Kandy is going to be one of the strongest competitors this season.
Tamisha Iman
The main reason why I didn't put Tamisha in my top is her personality, and don't get me wrong, her promo attitude (a very serious and straightforward personality) I like a lot, I'm sure the narrative that the producers are going to give her it isn’t going to be very flattering. Her outfit looks like a typical pageant queen look (well executed but has nothing that stands out). And above all this, I'm sure the producers are going to put her in the bottom two with Lala Ri to give us this dramatic and heartbreaking mother vs daughter lipsync.
Lala Ri
Lala Ri (judging from the promo) looks like she has a very striking personality, which always helps a lot in the competition. Her promo look, which is a bodysuit (her signature outfit), isn't very strong. And we all know Michelle's opinion of the queens who wear too many bodysuits in the competition. As a second point, something that scares me is that Lala Ri said in meet the queens (I don't fully remember how she said it so I'm going to paraphrase): "I didn't get to this competition to leave because of hot glue" Putting that together with the fact that she said she doesn't know how to sew, gives me to understand that she is going to be eliminated in a design challenge. Another point is, like what is going to happen with Tamisha, is that the producers are going to putting her in the bottom two to give us the mother vs daughter lipsync.
Denali
Denali is one of the queens with one of the most striking and different outfit among all the competitors, which is very good. From everything that she said she seems very talented, and the fact that she is an ice skater is a skill that hardly any queen possesses. A personal point for me here (of why I support her) is her Mexican heritage (and as a queer Mexican person myself, I am proud to see a queen who can give that representation on the show). The main reason I didn't put her in my top 4 is: her personality. Her personality It doesn’t look as flashy as other queens and that always ends up eliminating talented queens who cannot steal the spotlight compared to other contestants (such as Jan in season 12 or Max in season 7).
Olivia Lux
In the case of Olivia I debated a lot if I should put her in this category or in the next category (queens that are going to be eliminated first). In the end I decided to put her in this category because (from what she said) she has a strong personality and I think that can help her a lot in the competition. Her outfit from the promo looks good (but she has nothing that makes her stand out like other queens). Her hairstyle is one of my favorites, the combination of afro with that color between mahogany and carrot, I really loved it. And that's it, I don't have much to say, I just hope Olivia surprises me this season.
And the last category in which I separate the queens is: contestants that I think are going to be eliminated first.

Kahmora Hall, Joey Jay and Elliott with 2TS.
Kahmora Hall
One of the things I always enjoy seeing on DragRace is: representation. I'm glad we have another Asian queen to join the DragRace family. The look Kahmora is using in the promo is very polished and the wig with crystals looks perfect (Did you stone that wig?). Having said that, I really don't think Kahmora will last long in the competition. Her drag daughter Soju (who was one of my favorite queens even before she entered the show) is incredible, but I think the mother is going to repeat the same situation as the daughter and be one of the first to leave. I think the main reason is that her personality can't get across the screen. When queens have trouble to transmit their personality across the screen they also tend to have the problem of not being able to transmit their personality to the judges and end up getting eliminated at first. But I hope that Kahmora manages to excel and advance in the competition. Sidebar: I am very upset that the face mask that Kahmora had planned to use had not ended up appearing in the promo because of the message it transmitted. My boyfriend is Asian and he has suffered a lot of harassment for the issue of the pandemic, where ignorant people accuse him of being the carrier of the virus. It was a very strong message that Kahmora had planned with the face mask and it should have been shown to the public.
Joey Jay
Something very strange happened to me with Joey, although she has an aesthetic that I really enjoy (very punk rock and edgy style) I feel that she does not stand out among all the queens. Her personality looks nice but also very difficult to decipher, something doesn't quite convince me with Joey. And I'm sure Michelle is going to criticize the fact that Joey doesn't normally wear wigs (even from the first episode as Michelle also criticized Crystal's makeup in season 12 or Dusty in season 10) and when Joey decides to change it she runs the risk of being eliminated in that episode (like Max in season 7 or Derrick in season 8). I don't know what it is yet, but something actually tells me that Joey is going to be one of the first eliminated contestants.
Elliott With 2TS
And finally we have Elliott. When I see Elliott’s promo I can only think of James Mansfield from season 9. His personality doesn't stand out much compared to the other queens. Elliott looks like she's nice but I don't feel like she commands attention like other participants. And the two negative points for me are: her name and her outfit. Her name just doesn't resonate in a nice way to say it (like Dax exclamation point from season 8) and her outfit, what do I say? Her outfit was the weakest of the entire promo. But I really hope Elliott can surprise me and advance in the competition.
That's it, just judging by the promo and the meet the queens this are my opinions of how the queens are going to do in the competition. But this is only the beginning, many things can change during the competition. And I want to emphasize again that this is ONLY my opinion, and should not be taken seriously in any way, all participants are talented and deserve to win just for the fact of being selected to participate. I am very excited for this new season of Rupaul's DragRace.
Gentlemen, start your engines, and may the best woman WIN!

For the first time in a very long - Yvie going off on Miss Vanjie during season 11 - Untucked was a million times more intense than the actual hour and a half that preceded it. Kandy and Tamisha Iman, who each have a legit army of fans ready to meet in a parking lot with switchblades, went AT IT backstage. For many fans, Kandy is verging on Silky Ganache territory but y’all - she is not to that level. This was a heated moment that went a little too far. I never think Tamisha means for her words to be taken as insults. She is from a generation that didn’t hide behind screens all day. It’s clear that she learned to be straight as hell with people and is bringing that to ‘Drag Race’ for what seems like the first time since perhaps Latrice Royale.
While the backstage drama had all of us acting like Brooke Lynn Hytes, the runway was overflowing because it was THE BAG BALL and with a dozen queens that was *drum roll* 36 looks. Yes, three dozen looks walking down that runway, and like in years past, the Bag Ball Eleganza look had to be made in the Werk Room. A detail that left glue gun queens, Symone and LaLa Ri, shooketh. Ladies, it’s been 13 years now - you know to prepare for what? Snatch Game and to at least know the basics of sewing because there will always be an arts and crafts section.
Symone managed to throw something together which kept her safe enough in the end, but poor LaLa Ri. The look on guest judge (and hopefully permanent fixture) Nicole Byer’s face when she walked out said it all. It was the fashion world’s number one definition of a hot mess. She barely glued tiny gift bags on a corset, and still walked out with more confidence than I manage to bust out on a rare good day. There was no denying she was going to be in the bottom two. Her other two looks could have been picture perfect and she still would have been lip-syncing for her life - but they weren’t. Well, the Miss Money Bags look was beautiful, but the bottom of her Bag of Bones dress looked testicular.
I mean, there were a lot, A LOT of misses on the runway because of the crafty assignment. LaLa was rightfully in the bottom with Tamisha Iman - whose Miss Money Bags was a beautiful look but pedestrian, a rich one but still - and Joey Jay who never pulled out something good throughout all three of her looks. Her IV Bag with the poison ivy leaves, that she assured Carson were not part of the pun multiple times, was far from great. Then her Bag Ball Eleganza was just...busy. Honestly, those three were my bottoms alongside Elliot and Kandy. Elliot’s first two looks were very basic, very meh but the execution of that cow ensemble? Loved it. Then there’s Kandy whose Mixed Bag look was kind of confusing with the rabbit top. Was she the rabbit coming out of the hat, or the magician? What made her dip lower than Elliot though were the somewhat sloppy backpacks.
On the flip side were the top looks, which I 100% agreed with the judges on; Gottmik, Utica, and Rose. To me, Rose is doing so well in the sense that she knows everything that is going to be on the test, but then maybe forgets to write her name or to bring a pencil. There’s something missing that is leaving her lingering ever so close to the top spot - and I’m starting to hope she finds it. As for the top two...the judges seemed to have multiple fashgasms this week every time Gottmik turned that corner, and right at the end when Utica served up the ultimate glamp look.
I knew as soon as RuPaul saw Gottmik in that dazzling suit Lady Gaga was telling her people to get for her ASAP, we had a winner for the week. It’s the same way Ru has reacted to Symone in the past two weeks. For me though, Utica’s Bag Ball Eleganza was the only look to give me eleganza. It was Paris Fashion Week, Met Gala, and insane all rolled up into one.
Can I just say I am forgetting Tina Burner is even on the show right now? Like last week I said Elliot was lost in the shuffle but at least when Elliot serves me something like a gift bag, I remember it.
In the end, when the obvious bottoms were told to lip sync for their life, LaLa Ri went from serving up what is the worst look across the board - including All-Stars and all international spin-offs - to giving us one of the best lip syncs of this season, and the series. Joey Jay put up a fight but there was no denying that LaLa Ri delivered on her promise to give us an experience. I don’t think this is the last time we’re going to see LaLa Ri in this position, especially if they have to make something again, but I do know that it will take one hell of a queen to take her down head to head.
Bag Ball Looks Ranked
Utica - Every look was strong, but hers was the only one I felt was Bag Ball Eleganza
Gottmik - An honor roll student
Rose - She has every tool to get to the top, but there is like one bolt missing
Olivia - The suit with the cape was excellent, and her boxer was cute, but I almost wished she had a backup since we saw a boxer this season
Symone - Her pink, futuristic suit was a standout that round but this week she did just fall into the safe zone
Denali - Her looks were creative, but the Miss Money Bags was a little too boring and dragged her down overall
Tina Burner - Personally none of her looks stuck out to me but based on finish and compared to what followed in that regard...she lands here
Elliot - Her first two were basic, but her last one was executed so well. It was one of my favorites from that third round. It’s a shame her first two weren’t as great
Kandy - The homage to sex workers in the second round was excellent with the paper hair and blunt, but as I said...I was confused on the first and not impressed with her backpacks, backpacks.
Tamisha - They were all constructed well, but some lacked and some had too much going on
LaLa Ri - The African Boardroom look was fantastic but wow, she’ll never live down those gift bags
Joey Jay -
Week 5 Rankings & Reasonings
Gottmik - Con-Fucking-sistant
Rose - You can feel her get more determined the closer she gets to winning and I feel like that won’t fade
Symone - While she wasn’t at the top this week, her past report cards still make her a winner baby
Utica - Now that Michelle knows what Utica is serving, she is ordering some to go
Denali - A proven lip-sync assassin but there are some kinks to work out
Olivia - She continues to bring solid looks to the table
Tina Burner - She’s doing better than the queens that follow at the moment
Kandy - Her fire will keep her going
Tamisha - She’ll go out gracefully soon
LaLa - She may be in the bottom but because I think Elliot cannot beat her in a lip-sync, she is here
